Cricket Wireless charged for service not provided

Dec 23, 2009 I bought my son a new cell phone and I added the Handset Protection Plan. He lost it Dec 31st 2009. We went in 3 weeks later to get a new one (I thought we would find it but it ends up that it had been stolen and someone was using it!) .

In February, I received a letter from Cricket canceling the Handset Protection Plan on that phone effective Dec 31, 2009. It said I was ineligible since I had used it twice in a year.

I called customer service about the letter and asked if they were going to pro-rate the charge back to Dec 31 and give me a credit. She said yes. A couple months went buy and I didn't receive the credit, not only that, my bill went up. They had added the Handset Protection Plan back on to that phone without my permission! I called again, went over the billing and overcharge, plus the unauthorized change. I was supposed to get a call back within 48 hours. That didn't happen.

In addition to that, the "new" phone they provided, went bad within 3 weeks, some kind of charging issue where he could only use the phone if it was plugged in and charging. As soon as you unplugged it, it went dead. They told me this was a common problem with these phones and wanted me to pay $50.00 FOR THEM TO FIX IT! I had already paid them $50 (for the replacement) on a phone that, when I bought it, was $150.00, and less then a month later, they were selling the SAME PHONE for $69.00. If you do the math, you can see, that even with the insurace, I paid over twice what the phone was now worth and they wanted additional $$. In the end, my son went to the cricket office in Clackamas (I avoid going there at all cost since it's almost always an hour wait!) and the manager worked out a deal with him that everyone was happy with.

I have called MULTIPLE times about the billing issue. I ask for a superviser and they won't give me one. I am required to go over THE SAME INFORMATION again and again, every call. Each time, I get the assurance that someone will call me back. It's now May 23. STILL NO CALL. I have called repeatedly over the last two weeks at different times of the day and night and am not able to get through. They say all their representatives are busy and I get put in a loop.

I sent them an email today, asking them to call me regarding this billing problem, though I doubt very much that it will do any good.

Here's the billings where they overcharged me:

January STATEMENT:

CHANGE SERVICE PRORATE FROM 12/23/09-02/17/10 9.10
*should be prorated & a credit should be issued in the amount of $8.94

MONTHLY CHARGE 02/18-03/17 HANDSET PROTECTION 4.95

February STATEMENT: no problems. Bill was correct

March STATEMENT:

CHANGE SERVICE PRORATE FROM 03/11/10-04/17/10 6.19 (I didn't change or add any services, this must be for the Handset Protection and if you look at the dates they charged me, they match)

MONTHLY CHARGE 04/18-05/17 HANDSET PROTECTION 4.95

TOTAL AMOUNT OVERCHARGED: $25.03

No other billing problems since then. They have not continued to charge me for the Handset Protection, but they also have not credited my account for the overcharges.

I have had cricket for several years and as long as I don't have any issues where I have to contact their Customer Service Department, I've been pretty happy with them. Their prices for the services provided are very good, especially when you have kids. However, I can literally feel my blood pressure rising when I have an issue and have to call Customer Service.

Another problem is that I can't understand their accent. I have to repeatedly ask them what they said, and let them know that I couldn't understand them. OVER and OVER, which just makes the problem even worse.

Hey I realize im a few years late to reply here but the same thing just happened to me with cricket. They charged me 14 dollars for handset protection that I did not authorize. They tried telling me I requested it and debated giving me my money back. I finaly go them to take it off and to reimburse me the 14 dollars they charged. Have to keep an eye on this company...

6/22/10: Called cricket and got through
Talked to Richard. Employee # 29659. He reviewed my account and verified someone was supposed to call me back. He said I had two options.
1. He could transfer me
2. I could go to the corporate office

I asked why he needed to transfer me and to who? He said to the Rebate Dept. I asked why he would transfer me to the rebate dept when it wasn’t a rebate. He said “oh yes, you’re right, I meant the Refund Dept. I asked why he would transfer me to the “refund” dept when this wasn’t a refund, it was a billing error. Isn’t this the Billing Dept? Yes, he says, This is the billing Dept but he couldn’t help me. I would need to go into the Corporate office for them to resolve.

I told him they have fixed my billing errors before, why can’t they do it this time. He said he couldn’t do it and that I would have to go into the store. (I’m sure that by now, you know my blood pressure is skyrocketing. I KNOW my voice was getting louder and I was definitely getting upset)
I told him it was not convenient for me to go into the store and they should be able to resolve over the phone. I had given him all the information he needed, detail by detail, and he refused to help me. I asked to speak to a supervisor. He said they would tell me the same thing. I again asked to speak to a supervisor and he said he would transfer me. I told him that before he transferred me, I wanted the name of the person he was transferring me to. He said he was not allowed to give that information out. I said I was only asking for a first name and didn’t want to be transferred until he gave me a name or their employee number (he tried to give me HIS employee number again). He again said he was not allowed to give out that information. He flat out refused to help me, then told me goodbye and HUNG UP! He hung the phone up on me. I’m boiling!

It’s now 2:20. I started this at 1:10pm today, got off the phone at 1:25pm. It’s taken me this long to calm down and settle my stomach enough to start my drive over to the corporate office. I’m heading there now. Wish me luck!

Cricket Wireless cancelled service 6 weeks ago and cricket debited my account $60.34 and made my checking account overdraw

Cricut was offering a few months ago a reduce monthly billing of $29.95 month. I purchased their phone to the tune of $119.00 for 2 and I never activated the phones or used their service. I called and cancelled the service and told them do not send me any bills, because phones not activated. I requested a refund on the phones as well, but was informed I waited too long (Over 30 day policy). Today the company debited my checking acct $60.34 and caused an over draft fee of $34.00. I am the process of trying to reach them, not much success. I want my money refunded to my account and any nsf charges also.

Cricket Wireless stole my money

FACTS: My bill was due 5-12-10. I pay 1 month in advance. Bill due 5-12-10 was for service 5-13-10 thru 6-12-10. I canceled my service 5-7-10. Almost a week before my autopayment takes place or is due. I was told by a represetative that I would not be charged for the next months bill since I canceled my month to month before the due date. The very next day (ON A SATURDAY) Cricket deducts the entire next months bill from my checking account. ($45.35) I contact them (1-800-MYCRICKET)and spoke with aother rep, who CONFIRMED my account was closed and offered an excuse that my bill can be taken out 1 week from my due date. I spend a lot of time on hold as she get the information I need to get a refund. She acknoledges my account as closed, and states I will be getting a refund if I give her my credit card information (since I canceled they have no record of it on file) for the credit, and fax a copy of proof to the number she provided within 24 hours. I gave my account info for the credit as well as faxed the required info within 1 hour of getting off the phone. As of today, I can not get a hold of anyone, nor have I seen the credit to my account. I am concerned they will bill me again as I can not find anyway to remove my account information from them on line to prevent any other billings. I am entitled to the full amount they stole from me after I closed my accound. Money someone took 1 week before their normal auto payment would take it. I have all documentation including voice recordings of the conversations with the last rep I spoke with.

Cricket Wireless do not use their internet

I had cricket phone and was fairly satisfied so I signed up for their internet. I am very disappointed. You can not download anything or even use wedcam because the service is so slow. I went back to see if it was maybe my area or modem and then they told me it is not really good for downloading. Why didn't they tell me when I signed up? I try to download a music video for my zune and I have to leave it over night. Forget about youtube. Do not use their internet!

Cricket Wireless they are simply stealing my money

Cher did say it best when it comes to this hot mess parading as a professional company. I don't even live where I could get their service and yet they hit up my bank not one not two but three times same day and say it is "someone that stole my credit card" interesting since I never lost my card! Sick nut bags only called me back to say they were gonna get me fired from a job I don't even have for leaving messages on their president's direct line that since they have no problem stealing from me maybe they would like to return my call. Google their Board of directors and give them a heads up don't think they want to be associated with these "people". Places to file complaints that will be heard and something done FBI, FCC, FTC, DOL(they are a federal contractor), Consumer Protection Department/agency in your state and in California where they are headquartered.

I usually buy the pre-paid cards for my wireless internet service, but could not find any at Walmart in October 2013. I called the company to try and put it on my bank card, (as I had a few times before), but there were not sufficient funds there. I went to the bank, cleared the negative, went to Homeland and reloaded a visa card specifically to use to turn my service back on. After I made the payment online, I could not get into my account, as my password would not work. I called the company.. I buy the 45 dollar monthly service. Speaking with a young lady, she said they had a plan that if I should use all megabytes before the month was up, I could pay a dollar at a time from my funds available. When I logged in to my account, I saw a five dollar credit. I had only approved the forty-five.
As I kept checking my account on the visa card, I noticed they had not yet taken their money out. Attempting to make a purchase at the store, the sale was not approved. I called the visa company and was told, since I had not used the pre-pay card in over a year, they put a block on it. The block was removed within a couple of hours. I tried to call Cricket to see if the block was the reason they had not removed their money, or if it takes several days to receive their money. Well, from that day on, I could not get anyone on the phone. It would say no one was available to take my call. I kept calling using everything on their menu, to no avail.
On the 3rd of October, I called my bank to see how much was there after my SSI check was deposited. I had a 76 dollar and change in the negative. They said Cricket had taken the money from my bank. I explained that I gave them my visa reload card information to use. Apparently they ran into the block and took it upon themselves to just take it from my bank. I had gone to the bank to make sure October 3 would come to my account with no negatives.. I made many attempts to call Cricket with no response other than no one there to assist me, or they could not make the call compete and hung up. I used a number they had to buy something and finally talked to a real human. The man looked at my account and said I authorized the payment on my bank card. I did not. I explained to him I had used the visa prepaid. He asked if the overcharge of five dollars was the only complaint I had. I asked to speak to someone higher than him and waited on the phone a long time before someone answered. I explained all the happenings to her and she also said I approved it. I told her I had proof. If they continue lying, I would be more than happy to let a rep come here and view my hard drive. Their attitude was nasty and I explained to the bank what happened. I was able to get money for rent, groceries, and medicine, but my next check would have to be used to cover the huge overdraft. I was excited about my October 3rd check because there would be not over draft to pay. Cricket messed that up and now refuses to put my money back in the account. Since it was a SSI check, I will notify them and also offer to let them see my hard drive. I hope they will investigate. The lady from Cricket said they would do no refunds, but she would remove my bank card number so this would not happen again. I asked her not to remove it until my bank and SSI looked into the matter, but they quickly removed it anyway. To me it sounds as if they indeed know they used the card.

Cricket Wireless overcharge

I have had numerous charges that I have had to pay for reasons I never seem to get answers for. The girls that work in your selma store are thee most irritating and non people persons I have ever seen in a business. I would be ashamed. I went in there on 4-23-10 to pay my bill which should have been around 90.00. But of course not! It was 122.00! For what I asked; for reconnect fees for last month! I about lost my mind needless to say. What in the world ?! Would somebody please look at my account as this is the last time for cricket. It doesnt seem that the customers are your first priority. Thank god there is other companies! I expect to hear from you with information about my refund. My account #[protected] thank you

Worst carrier EVER! I paid my monthly bill of 55.00. Later that evening I went to app to see about adding mobile hotspot, noticing it was only 5.00 more, I added it. Then, the amount due was 70.00 not 60.00 so I immediately removed it bc I wasn’t paying 70.00 a month. The next morning my phone was off! I was told I owed 15.00 to have it reconnected! 10.00 mobile hotspot and 5.00 reconnection fee! When talking to supervisor I explained I didn’t want mobile hotspot bc it was more than advertised! She stated there was nothing that could be done, so I had to pay and extra 15.00 ! But get this, I DONT HAVE MOBILE HOT SPOT ! I was informed for them to add it I had to pay for it since it was removed! Basically they stole my money! The two months prior, they disconnected my phone after bill had been paid! Customer service is ridiculous! They clearly don’t care about their customers! I will be leaving cricket after this month since they FORCED me to keep service this month by nit wanting to refund my 55.00 so I could cancel my plan with them! Then FORCED me to pay for mobile hotspot and didn’t give it to me! STAY AWAY FROM CRICKET WIRELESS!

On January 10, 2014, I booked a hotel online through the LasVegas.com. The same day, VESTA CRICKET [protected] charged $70.00 from my American Express Card without my knowledge. The NORTH LAS VEGAS MINI [protected] was also charged from my card for $280.00. These two companies are SCAM, FRAUD, CROOK. I believed that The Las Vegas.com is also part of the crook.

My advice is that, please check your credit card statements and to make sure that your card is not illegally charge.

I am a victim of Cricket wireless fraudulent $100 rebate crap! I switched from Metro PCS to Cricket back on November.30, 2015 due to the lack of service from Metro in the area I moved to in Florida. I have a ZTE ZMax phone that I brought to them. I switched service, kept my number and purchased the 10G plan. At the time they wwere advertising the $100 shopping card for switching to their services. They gave me no rebate forms to fill but told me it HAD to be done online. They told me in the store that this is a $100 shopping card as the commercial has stated. I mwaited the 45 days and then proceeded online to fill out the form...NOTHING! After FINALLY being to actually get through to someone I emailed a support supervisor and she returned my inquiry telling me that they would process my rebate as an "acception" because I didn't mail in a form despite the fact that the representatives in the store told me I HAD TO DO IT ONLINE. I just received this shopping card today and to my absolute disgust found that this "shopping card" was not that. It's a $100 "STORE CREDIT" card that could ONLY BE USED IN A CRICKET WIRELESS STORE! The ad stated that this was a $100 SHOPPING CARD NOT A STORE CREDIT FOR CRICKET ONLY! Needless to say this whole $100 shopping card promotion is an ABSOLUTE FRAUDULENT ATTEMPT TO LURE PEOPLE TO CRICKET. NEVER EVEN ONCE STATING THAT IT IS FOR CRICKET WIRELESS ONLY. Had I known that I would not had pursued this issue. They advertised this promotion but act as if they don't want or have no plans on hon oring what it is they offer. I don't need this or want this...STRAIGHT UP SCAM ARTISTS!

I bought a phone back in October of last year. I was told about the rebate and what to do. I sent it in November and began checking the website in December. Around late December, early January the site said the rebate was processing. I was told it would take time so I tried to be patient. I called earlier this week only to be told Cricket didn't receive my paperwork. So, cue run around of trying to talk to SOMEONE who can help me get my rebate back. Going between customer "care" and rebate office answering machine, I didn't get anything but per-fabricated answers most likely read from a script. I FINALLY got to talk to someone at the rebate office today, only to be told that once again, they never received it and on top of that, the offer for the rebate expired. I asked them if I could just give them the information needed over the phone and the guy could fill out a paper there at the rebate office, but that was too much to hope for. He stated he can't fill out forms because all he has is on the computer and the forms he gets comes in the mail. Great, thanks. Chucked back to the customer "care". I request to speak to a supervisor and the woman wastes my time stating my case is for the rebate office and that the supervisor there can't help. At this point I'd like to speak to someone other than a humanized automated machine.By the time I get done talking with her all the while her apologizing for this problem, she sends me over to rebate and it's closed. One last effort to reach somebody, I try the chat window on Cricket's website. I explain to the woman what happened and she too shucks me to the dark unknown place known as "the rebate office" I tell her I've rode that carousel already (been given the run around) and would like to speak to someone who can ACTUALLY help. she reiterates the rebate office and closes the window. Gee, what lovely people. I don't know if it'll even be worth trying to talk to the supervisor at the rebate office on Monday. I understand a phone costs money and usually you don't expect it back when you buy it, but when a company offers a rebate if you buy the phones they are often discontinuing then it wouldn't seem so unreasonable to expect forms to be handled professionally and money to be dispersed in a timely fashion. Not with these people. Add onto all of this, I am being talked to as if I'm some crazy person (in hushed slow tones) or as if I'm a child that doesn't know whats going on (slow, calm, firm voices) I'm an adult, not a child and therefore deserve to be treated like one. I'm not trying to placate you, don't try it with me. Cricket needs to retrain their employees better. I talked with one of their in store help about getting a copy of my receipt and her attitude was very unprofessional. Sure I was irritated but no where near to what she was said, stating I was being "mean" and "yelling" because I had spoken up for her to hear me since she was working in a cricket kiosk, where I bought my phone. I agree with tracy34, they need to reimburse all cricket users that have been left with nothing but empty hands.

Hi . I am another dumb ### that Cricket took advantage of. I sent in all my paperwork that was asked. Checked my status. They said it was mailed out on Jan 2, 2014. They said it would take10 days. Well it Is now Jan 15. I have been calling every day. One agent said it's coming from Texas. Then another one will say it's coming from Indiana. They need to get their story straight. I ship things all the time back east. It doesn't take this long. I really need this money. I wouldn't have bought the phone. If I would of known this is a SCAM. WELL THEY GOT ME. We need to file a lawsuit against cricket. I'm calling the BB Bureau. Email me if you are SCAM VICTIM of cricket. maggard544@gmail.com

I must agree with anybody that denounces Cricket wireless for their horrendous service, customer or otherwise. I bought a phone in the local cricket store in April, 2010 and am still waiting for the rebate they have supposedly mailed out at the beginning of June. They are seriously screwing anyone that will take it, and that's a shame. I hate this cell phone company more than I hate the bus system. Unfortunately I have need of them both. I've also noticed the horrendous increase in various charges applied each month to my phone bill. I wonder if they are not somehow, fraudently, adding twenty cents here, a dollar there to millions of people each month to their advantage. I'm not a real smart dude, but I know when I'm being shafted! But what are you gonna do?! Go online and get absolutely zero help, or call India or Bangladesh and get an even worse insult. Well, I'm all worked up now! Better call somebody that gives a ###!

Cricket Wireless technical disaster

Great start and really lousy finish!
This company seems to operate as a facade... Looks good until you open the hood!
The signal is almost non existent at times and leaves you waiting for over 30 minuts at times.
The unlimited service does have limits... And you get screwed.
This company has minimal support in servicing their customers.
This company has minimal assets with regard to their own hardware to support the customers.

Go to a store and find the proverbial: "like it or lump it" bottom line.
They really don't care and when we put them out of business, they will go get another name and do it all over again! Call the fcc and report these people ! Email the fcc and report these people. Make some noise and get them off the air.

Cricket Wireless horrible customer service... liars

About a month ago I decided I would give cricket wireless a try.. Being that they say they are $40 a month for unlimited everything, what the $%@ I was thinking... I dont know! I ordered a phone over the internet after repeatedly asking if my area was covered for service... Oh yes of course it is... Was the main response from the non-english speaking ### that run customer service. So recieve an email with my new cricket number... Which was an illinois area code... I live in indiana... I should have known right at that moment... So I get the phone and call to activate it... It wont activate... And ask them why I have an illinois area code when I live in indiana and all they can tell me is that i'm in chicago... Ummm no i'm not, I would not have recieved my phone at my house in the mail if I were in illinois.. So I went back and forth with them when they tell me its a $15 charge to change my number! They made the mistake not me! Then they hang up on me... I spend over an hour getting someone on the phone again... They change the number finally for no charge but still no activation possible so they tell me to go to a cricket store... So I do the next day... They activate my phone and it works so I leave to go home get 15 miles down the road... No service and none again.. Ever. I call cricket when I get home they dont understand so I call the store I just went to and ask the girl and she says oh I didn't know you lived in that town... They didn't tell you when you purchased the phone that there is always service problems there and in the surrounding towns? Um no.. They sure as hell didn't, so I called cricket told the frickin "customer service" rep to shove the phone and service up her non-english speaking ### and get another job.. Sent the phone back and cancelled everything.. Worse customer service experience I have ever had! Oh i'm so sorry for these problem, umm yes so sorry to know that... What kind of service is that when thats their response to every question you ask them? Screw cricket wireless!

I bought Cricket over the internet and they delivered it 2 days later and I was told over the phone that cricket will port my Verizon number in 4 to 24 hours, when I first got this number it was a cricket number then I went to verizon and then back to Cricket, on the 4 th day I was still waiting to have the porting done .On the forth day I call the porting number again and was told that I had a Witchata Kansas phone number and wireless Internet service and . so then I was told to go to a full service store in Monroeville and there were 2 women trying to wait on customers and talking about there personal lives for longer than 15 minutes and not caring who heard them and one was waiting on me . It took more than an hour to get it finished . I even told them that I really needed my phone because a really good friend died on Wednesday and I missed and my calls and text message and they look at me like so what.I am very un happy with this customer service so .This Monroeville office needs an overhall with there customer service people..

Cricket Wireless cusomer service

I have contacted Cricket wireless both in my home state and since I am living out of state about this issue, as well as e-mail and phone calls to customer service. They have done nothing to resolve the problem that they issued the wrong exchange for the phone and the phone now will not even conect to their customer service. Non of their customer service representatives give a rats ###. May be the phone choice of drug dealers and child molesters for a reason.

When this is the case I have heard from similar stories with my friends(not through cricket) that you can go to cricket store and get a new phone and show them all the dissemination that you have received from what has been going on. In some cases they will give you a phone back especially if you threaten to blow their place sky high. I'm sure some drug dealers have already tried.

Cricket Wireless trash!

We've had Cricket for four years. At first we loved them, but over the last year or two they've become so bad, I wouldn't recommend their service to the devil.

First, they managed to allow someone to access my personal voice mailbox, meaning friends and family heard someone else's voice and name when it picked up and naturally confusion ensued. It's probably the only problem we've had that got resolved quickly, by a friendly rep, and without an issue.

Later we transferred my number to a land line. That took several weeks to resolve because Cricket wouldn't let the number go to the other provider.

After escalating it, someone finally apologized for "not flipping the right switch." Uh huh... I'm surprised from reading complaints here that they cheerfully refunded us for the time the number remained with them when it wasn't supposed to.

Next, my husband's NEW cell phone, not even a year old, dies recently. He attempts to go to a Cricket store only to hear that his phone is "obsolete." They've stopped selling not just the phone but its respective parts, and refuse to look at or service the phone! So now he's stuck with a dead phone that they won't fix.

Finally, we had a credit card number change around the time our bill would have been up. They attempted to run the old number, didn't work... they cancel the bill without even trying to notify us of the problem, even with a snail mail and email address on file.

Now as anyone who's gone through this mess knows, the only way you can update your account information is to either dial 611 on your Cricket phone, which we can't, because it's broken. Or you dial the 800 number, which requires you to input your number... and if your account got cancelled like ours did, it won't recognize it, and they hang up on you. So we're stuck being unable to pay our bill either.

I finally figured out how to get to a live person. I called the 800 number and at the prompt, told the system "Cancel My Account." So now you know how to get around that little trick :-)

But it doesn't mean you won't get a customer service rep with sand for brains. For the record, I normally NEVER lose it with customer service reps - I've worked in that field, I know how hard it is, and I believe in treating others with respect.

Today, I broke my own rule after several minutes of circular arguing because he first told me the account is current, then tells me it's cancelled because the credit card was no longer valid and it has an overdue balance. Well, which one is it?

After yet more back and forth I snapped and I told him just take my d*** credit card number, put it in your system, make this right or I will escalate this above your head, and STOP arguing with me. What does he do? Argues back that I'm not arguing with him!

I replied about 20 decibels louder than normal that I've had enough, I want this account current NOW, and don't p*** me off, at which point he puts me on hold, comes back on the line and apologizes.

So the account is current, but we got slapped a reactivation fee (after missing ONE payment folks!), and they "punished" us by making our account pre-pay instead of post-pay (like I care by now). What-EVER sir, just fix it.

Oh and as we get off the line, even with his knowing my husband's cell phone is dead, he says "We'll text you a confirmation of the bill pay to your phone number." Gee, thanks. I asked him can't you send it to an email address? He just grunts. I'll take that as a no.

Needless to say we're going provider shopping and cancelling our service ASAP. I imagine it'll be just as much fun transferring my husband's cell number to someone else this time around too.

Crickets not contracted so you didnt have to pay a bill for a broken phone. Even if his phone is no longer available they still have to give you a phone of equal vaule as long as you have insurance on the phone. What people don't understand is that Cricket is just like every other phone service as well as every other coorperate business. yes we out source CS yes our Items are manufactured over seas the only difference between cricket and other phone companies is lack of coverage. You could have...SHOULD have went to a Full Service store, there you would have spoke with a SM not an owner and got a DMs number for you trouble its quiet easy and he/she would have spoke enough english to explain the situation and try to fix it.

Cricket Wireless their commercials about respect are a joke

I have been a customer of Cricket Wireless Broadband Service for 5 months and it has been a continuous problem. Customer Service is essentially non-existent! When you have a problem if it is after 8:00pm (cst) you are routed through a system that eventually disconnects your call. On the rare occasions that you actually speak with a human being, when you can understand them because of their thick accents, they have no resources to solve your problems. And they seem to really not even care. I am currently working on a problem for the third consecutive day! I've spoken with a multiplicity of their reps and supposedly supervisors, only to be told that they will try to fix it but they really don't have the authority to do so. Well if they can't who can! Don't fall for the hype. Their commercials about respect are a joke. I think I will switch carriers as soon as my next payment is due!

Cricket Wireless fraudulent charges

Last week we recieved a notice that one of our accounts had bounced. It is an account that is never used except for certain expenditures so we don't keep very much money in it. When we investigated, we found that cricket had billed our account $5.00. When we called cricket, they claimed that they have no idea what the charge was for, nor who authorized it. They refused to refund the money claiming that it's a police problem. Another phone call to the bank confirmed that not only did cricket charge us the initial $5.00, but they had also "tested" our account by submitting a request for one dollar twice before the five dollars went through. So my account is out seven dollars plus the bounce fees.

Apparently this type of fraud happens quite regularly with their company. There is a complete section on their website explaining what you should do if you are the victim of unauthorized charges on your credit/debit card. A word to the wise... Never ever use a credit/debit card to pay your bill with cricket.. And never put it on file. Only god knows who had access to our information and only god knows how many other people they ripped off since the charge was so low. Imagine how much they could have taken if I did have money in that account. Five dollars here and there wouldn't have registered with us on our other accounts.

I purchased a ringback for my phone. We have three phones on this account.I put my number and instead went to my husbands phone. He had 10.00 dollars in flexbucket because last month i was getting credit for my phone but went to his just like it did tonight. what is going on..then was charged 10.00 dollars more on phone bill...never purchase anything online with cricket..it does not work. what you purchase for another phone goes to primary phone number..cricket will be hearing from me tomorrow and I will call over and over until they take the 10.00 dollar charge off...Had pocket wireless before and cricket bought them out...Pocket was way better ...not shysters! and by the way Where is cricket based out of in the U.S. because when I call customer service..i can't even understand them and will not let you speak to a manager. Cricket Wireless taking money from a homeless person

Ok is this year to get screwed out of your money. My brother need a phone so I saw the commerical for cricket unlimited localand long distince ad unlimited texting. For 45 dollars. My brother was homeless and I was sending home to amariilo texas and he is not in good health. So we went to the cricket store in jacksonville andtalked to the sales lady andtold her he need a phone because of the cirmstances. So I could check on him on the bus. We ask the lady 3 different times if it would work in ama, texas she says oh ya anywhere in texas. So we signed and got the phone and went to my house to try it it worked standing next to each other. And then he called his son in jacksonville they talked 5 mins. The next morning got him on the bus in little rock it doesn't work and did not work no more. The bus was late 3 hrs do to a blizzard. Thank god he made it. I called cricket they say take it to north little rock office I did. They said okay you will have to take it back to jacksonville to get your money back. My brother had to send it back. Oh by the way there is no crickit phone store in ama, tex. And no serve. So I take it to jacksonville they say they can't refund none of the money that he had talk for more then 30 mins on it. I said show me the numbers he talked to, she said she could not. Bull crap. Needless to say not 1 penny back. They would not even take the phone back. Told me to sell it to someone else I said so you can screw them too. Taking money from a homeless person. How wrong is that. $90.00 for 6 mins.

Cricket Wireless continued notices of phone shutoffs

I get texted messages warning me of phone shutoff even when bill is paid on time. This is intimidating as I always try to pay my bill on time. The excessive texted message arent warranted when people like me are only paid once amonth. On top of this your customer service department computer servie is a joke. Because theres no person on the other end of the line to field my questions and your system that you have in place always tells me to call back at a later time and disconnects me. I dont need this kind of service laspe when my time is valuable this needs to be fixed in order for me the paying customer to be satisfied. I would greatly appreciate your department for looking into this matter. Thanks!

My bill was paid early as usual. The check cleared my bank on Feb 9 for the bill due Feb 25. When I went to my local corporate HQ they did not want to accept the bank's copy of the back and front of my check but insisted on my bank statement instead which of course will not state who cashed the check. When I requested the supervisor on duty, the customer service person refused. When I inquired why I shouldn't sue, they customer service person told me if I persisted in talking like that she would not help me and would have me removed from the premises. Is that anyway to treat loyal good paying customers? Well I guess it is if you don't want to retain their business!

Cricket Wireless The worst customer service and warranty complience out there

Man these guys have been terrible since the first day i recieved the phones via ups, which i paid extra cause i was in a hurry to get myself mobile with a plan i could keep a closer eye on, ie no hidden charges or fees added to my bill or contract, because there is no "contract" per say. Wow what a load that is... So you start by paying retail for a free phone even though they say they will coonect any phone you bring in, any cricket selected type of phone that is, not just "any" phone will do. Though this is what is advertised, its just a way to get you in the door so they can pitch their gimmick to ya. All of this i was unaware of when my "account" was created and my second mistake was made. The first of course being, typing in the word cricket to look for a cell phone and service provider that would be so much less of a hassel to work with. "ha funny in my face"! Well i'm being a little harsh on myself but dang it i bought 3 phones and family service, "family" so my wife and sister-in-law are a part of nightmare cell service with a crew of [censored] jerks that guard the pleases just give me what i paid for sanctium in god knows where. One supervisor on the service hotline actually cussed at my wife and called her names for trying to fix a billing mistake, "yeah you guessed it a mistake that cost me". Whats $65 u. S. To me anyway right? Huh if that was all my wafe spent around 29 or more hours calling customer service many many times to help them figure it out. Thats $65 u. S. Not 65 rupies, but even a few cents can add insult when it's wrong, i don't care who ya are. Period... Getting robbed is still getting robbed isn't it. So anyway after 2 months of argument after argument with people who could care less about people much less the customer/person they are supposedly in a job to assist, hence the term customer service representitive, what doen't everyone get job title and requirements information from the same career information place i do? Ya know "the internet". Well guess not then huh? We decided to eat the money because there was not much more we could in that particular situation for us aside from going postal at one of the stores which wouldn't be a far shot from the jerks on the phone and online, only they take the phone you previously purchased and therefore own, from you when you bring it in for activation, walk it in the back for a sec and return it to your "the owners'" hand in a non-functional state, and then tell you oh was this working it needs a new battery i couldn't add it to your account". So naturally my wife askes the question. "how much is a new battery for this one i'm trying to add?" the response $40 dollars. So she asks and how much to repair the old/new cricket piece of crap i just bought 4 months ago and has more problems than a 60 year old drug addict still living with his mom?"$40 dollars. " wow a reavelation just occured to me duhhh! "ok, so the battery and the hook up on the phone i own will cost $35 dollars then. " no "it's $40 and $40, $40 each to add that phone to your account. " my wifes says " i just recieved a text from cricket that says bring in any phone and add it to your account for $15 bucks, not 2 days ago, as a matter of a fact i have recieved at least one a week for about 4 months, so what about that deal? "i have never heard of such an offer lady. " my wife left before things got crazy in the store and so she could call me to vent only to find out her service was turned off. She had to go back in to the store where the employee who already treated her like a mark from the minute he took and destroyed, the working but not active cell phone she brought in with her, from her hands only to take it from her sight without explaination and blipp, fry, melt, f*^%, burn and otherwise ruin her functional phone including the damn battery". However this time he takes her over to some chairs and sits her down to talk, like a child taking a lesson from her better or an elder teaching you a lesson he thinks you should have always known even if he had no clue what he was talking about, like an older peer putting you down for chewing gum at school, or something real dumb like that. He said "lady the only way for you to get an upgrade/different phone would have been if you had subscribed to the $5 a month "per phone" "maintenance fees" then he proceeded to tell her it would still cost the additional $40 dollar deductible in the warrenty contract, which is at the descretion of the product return/repair technition who assess the damage done to the unit during abuse/use. This may be a bunch of ranting to read but this was just atiny bit of the crap this company has attempted on my loved one and i. I just wanted to share a few of the worst. Thanks for your time and be aware out there...

Eugene

Cricket Wireless no customer service available

I have been a customer of Cricket communication for almost a year and a half. The very first payment that I made to the company was an electronic funds transfer from my bank's online bill pay option. Cricket lost my payment, and the first I knew about it was they had my service shut off. When I went to find out what happened, I was told I didn't pay my bill. I showed them my bank statements, and was told that they had to "investigate" where the funds had gone. Meanwhile, my service is off, and I needed it back on, so I went to my bank, explained that Cricket had lost my money, and canceled the funds transfer. I immediately went to the Cricket website and paid my bill there. I still had to go back to the Cricket store to get them to take off the 15 dollar fee for having to disconnect my service before they would turn my phone back on. But ever since then, I have been denied customer service through their phone contact centers AND their website. The only thing I CAN do is pay my bill. When I call their 611 number, I am told that they cannot access my account and that I will have to go into a Cricket store. When I go to the store, I am told that since I cannot call the 611 number that the contact center is the only entity that can fix the problem. I am getting the run around from everyone, even the managers. I was told this issue would automatically resolve itself, because I was penalized with a 6 month penalty flag on my account for STOPPING PAYMENT ON A CHECK. Which isn't what happened at all. So, its been over a year and a half later, and I still cannot use the customer service functions that are available to me as a paying customer.

I purchased a second mobile broadband device and had a similar experience. They charged my credit card for one amount and credited my account for almost $57 less. Then my husband goes to the store because he has a problem with the new device and they tell him they are going to shut off service because the last payment on the first device was rejected by the credit card company. So he pays them a check for $70 they claim is owing.

I then call the credit card company and the lady tells me that Cricket ran the charges through with no expiration date so, of course, the charge was rejected. I get back in town and go to the store with all the documentation to show my credit card was charged one amount and the account credited for a much lesser amount. The gal at the store did at least respond to my email and tell me she had turned it over to a billing specialist but that has been weeks ago. I am exercising my rights with my credit card company to deny the charges but reading through the complaints listed here, I bet they shut off my service even though its their error.

BTW, I started out calling customer service and dropped that idea immediately. They barely speak English and cannot understand most of what you are saying. In my case, they said they couldn't help and I would have to go to the store.

Cricket Wireless over charged and debited without autorization

I was on facebook when a great deal for a cell phone with unlimited text and talk for $25 appeared. I decided to order it for my 12yo for xmas. The phone arrived and everything was fine. I added the $5 longdistance which with taxes and the first month free was $34.74 per month. They turned the phone off on feb 3 and it was almost impossible for me to reach anyone. (March 1, 2010) when I did they tried to charge me a reconnection fee plus $11 for three days use. After talking to several telemarketers they promised an $11 refund and that my next bill would be $23 with that. Fast forward to march 31, 2010 they charged me even more $48.65 for the service that with adjustments should have been $23. The explanation that they gave me was that I already got the first month free what more do I want. (This was a promo that they were running with web purchases) I told them that they did not have the authority to go into my account and take additional funds. They then said that the extra money was for online service. There is no online service on the phone. They cut off the text messaging (Which was included in the $25 price) and told me that it was concidered online. I called my bank and they are doing an investigation. Apparently I am not the only one that has this complaint with this company. Beware!

Cricket Wireless not unlimited

I got cricket wireless service about 4 months ago. Near the end of march 2010 I noticed my download speed was extremely slow!. I called cricket and was told I went over my usage limit on my unlimited plan. They told me I was only allowed 5 gigabytes on my unlimited plan, they said I used 19 gigabytes and could not get back my download speed until I paid back those gigabytes (They said I have to wait 4 months without using the internet, and pay my bill every month for 4 months to give them back their 5 gigabytes/month that was included in my unlimited plan). The person I talked to kept pushing their $60/month plan (Like I am going to fall for that "give us more money, u can have your internet back") how is cricket still in business!

OMG I got cricket broadband as well, the very first month was OK but just like you, by about the fourth month it got really slow. So I called them and they said I used 19 GBs instead of 5GBs, and I was like "I didn't knew I had a limit in my unlimited plan" they were like "the 5GBs only depend on the downloads... you might be downloading too much videos" which is funny because I have only downloaded 3 music videos. I erased all my downloads and I deleted most of my programs ( thing got worse). Then I called again and someone else told me that "WATCHING youtube videos also counts" they basically said everything does. To make things shorter I've called honestly about 50 times, this is my eight month using this S-it, it takes in average 2 hours to watch a 5 minute video HONESTLY, and usually youtube videos stop after 30 seconds have beeen charged, so I have to connect to the internet again and again, and regular webpages were picrures are attached usually never appear complete (I'm so not joking). You might think I am stupid for not changing, but I cannot find something that sounds better, all the companies or whatever have like the same problems, plus I can only have broadbands cause I move to different states like every 2 months. If someone finds me a solution please tell me.

I have had cricket broadband for several months now and recently found that trying to connect to the internet is virtually impossible. Every time I call there technical help they have me do the same thing over and over which is getting really old. The wife and I play internet games and download programs, which go over there unlimited 5 gigs. I am very unhappy with this service and highly recommend that if you want dependable internet service to NOT subscribe to cricket.
