Citi Cards offered me a 30 day FREE trial of Credit Notify after my account number had been stolen and fruadulant charges were made. I accepted, after being informed that my FREE trial would not begin until I received an enrollment package from Credit Notify. Well, after 40 days I have NEVER received an enrollment package, but Credit Notify has begun...

Credit Notify Unauthorized charges, Insulting Customer Service

Citi Cards offers a free 30 day trial of Credit Notify, who monitor your credit reports etc. I was assured that if I called within the first 30 days that I would not incur any charges.
About 3 weeks after signing up, I received my initial report and called immediately to cancel the service to avoid any charges. I spent 40 min with a representative who at first attempted to salvage the account, and then assured me that the account had been closed.

Today, May 29, 2009, I was reviewing my credit card statements and noticed 4 months of charges from Credit Notify of $12.95 each. I called CreditNotify to rectify this, and as they gave me no confirmation number and claim to not have any notes or record on the account of my prior phone call they refuse to honor my cancellation. The "customer service representative" was incredibly insulting. She continually interrupted and placed me on hold several times when I would insist that she let me finish my sentence. She claimed that she was the highest supervisor, only to learn after that this was not the case.

This service is TERRIBLE. They are frauds! Avoid at all costs.

i have been getting charged for their service for 6 months I tried to get my report from them oct 17, 2010 only to now have them tell me I need to send in copy of car insurance copy of DL and a utility bill so they could verify my identity to get me a report, so I was never really enrolled in their service yet they continued to charge me. further their site now links you to the new citibank site that wanted to re register me yet again to pay 12.95 on top of the 14.95 i have already been paying.

I just terminated my membership in this bunk program as well. The Gal went on for about 15min. rambling about all the services I WAS NOT enrolled in and how it would benefit me, blah blah blah...being ultra insistent on signing me up. Went I stood firm in my decision to cancel, she almost started crying; as if I stole the lolly-pop from her hand. [protected] is the phone number I used as well, so thank you very much for posting it =)

Is a company a fraud or practicing fraudulent practices when they won't answer your phone calls to request a Return Merchandise Authorization? Or return your voice mail call after promising to return your call in 2-3 hours?, Or charge your credit card for materials you don't want, but can't return because they won't answer their phone? Or don't provide a 800 or 888 number so you will be charged for the call and the long wait to reach someone and then no one answers anyhow? And, from the complaints I've read, their so-called customer is non existent if and when you do get through via the phone? Or, are they like so many others on the net who are morally bankrupt and their only ambition is to make the sale and forget the customer once it is made? The Customer Protection Agency in the state advises as a first step, to contact them to straighten out the problems, but how is that to be done? I will be making a formal complaint to the local BBB and the CPA if they do not respond to my letter asking for a Return authorization and I think all the people who have, or made, complaints should do the same to warn other unsuspecting potential customers of this company's business practices.

I got 2 month charges. NEVER receive any credit report from CreditNotify at All. I knew that I was charged by scanning in my statement. So, I called to Citi Customer Service [protected]. They transfered me to CreditNotify, I guess they are a partners company. After talked to CreditNotify, I got a refund only for one month. CreditNotify's Representative said she can do only for one month. I needed to talk to CitiCard to dispute the first month charge. Got transfers back to Citi and disputed this transaction. I talked to 4 people and repeat the story for four times. It took me 45 min to do this. Finally, I received a refund as they said so. They said it need two billing to know that was fixed.

I had a similar experience. Very easy to get signed up and mixed results when calling for both questions about aspects of the report provided as well as my request to cancel. One consultant was very helpful and polite. The second was not, then when I asked to cancel I met with some resistence. OK, I get that and remained patient until they understood I wanted to cancel regardless of the offers they made to reduce the membership to 8.95 a month.

At this point the attitude of the consultant was getting obviousy curt but I ignored this and kept my cool. When the cancellation was complete she informed me that had been charged a few days earlier. This is when things got interesting. I explained that the legal recording played by CITI when I enrolled explicitly stated more than once that the 30 trial period begins the day your report arrives in mail w/ online acct info etc. She emphatically disagreed, esentially telling me I was wrong.

I asked if she would be able to help me reverse the charges she kept going in circles until I finally asked her to either help me reverse the charges or connect me with someone who can. I think the third time I restated my request she went and got a supervisor.

The supervisor actually did a great job of handling the situation although the jury is not out. I was told that since the charges were recently posted there was a 3 day window before a confirmation would be returned and they couldn't reverse the charges until that time. She stated that she can't reverse the charges automatically in 3 days because they can only access the account when on the phone with the customer.

She provided me with her name and assured me should would put a note in the account. I am to call back in 2 more days to request/confirm the charge reversal.

I'll post back if that doens't go as expected. Too bad, the report data is quite cool and the service has some nice features. It's just too pricey IMO.

Absolutely true. I was sold the service by a citi employee (who I'm sure earned a fat commission). CITI then lowered my credit rating and I was not notified. Citi is the institution with whom they are closest, so it's unbelievable that they couldn't figure this out.

Additionally, they CANNOT spell my name right (it's 5 letters... not hard). How are they going to check my credit without knowing my name?

Finally, I too have cancelled the service several times to no avail.

The government should be ashamed of dealing with such a fraudulent institution as citi. Taxpayers are paying those fat bonuses on two fronts.

The number is [protected], by the way.

I am currently trying to cancel this service now, but I am having a hard time locating the phone number to call. If you happen to remember it, it would be lovely if you could post it! Thanks!
