C.R. England Lease and CDL Mill

My experience at the CR England CDL School was like something right out of the “Grapes of Wrath” movie. Times are hard; and all of the people I met at the school (from all over the country) were clearly desperate. CR England is a big corrupt company with an operation in a small probably corrupted Texas town, exploiting the poorest and most desperate people; people who are just looking for honest work.

A few years back I was injured in an auto accident and was limited on my ability to walk. I thought that perhaps I could still drive for a living so I went to school at my local community college and got my CDL. However, I soon found that driving jobs are very hard to get into. After reviewing CR England’s professional looking web site, I applied for a job with their company. The web site said that you had the option of being a truck leasing operator or a second seat driver. Because I knew I needed some over the road experience and I applied to be a second seat driver. Soon after submitting my application a recruiter named Tony left a message on my voice mail saying my application had been approved and cheerfully said “WELCOME TO CR ENGLAND MY FRIEND”. When I called him back, he said that I just needed to come to Texas and go through a one week refresher course that would cost $50.00. Then, after a drug test I would be put to work as a “second seat driver”. He said that they would provide a bus ticket to Texas and a hotel room for me while I took the course. I was so happy; I really believed I had a job.

Upon arriving in Duncanville Texas, I learned that the “hotel” was used primarily by CR England and JB Hunt for their “training” program. The hotel was more like a boarding stable; very dirty (no towels/sheets) with 4 guys to one room. It is located in a VERY bad area (I witnessed a hold up first night), and people asking for money as you walked down the street; so you did not want to walk anywhere. The only restaurant in the hotel was VERY expensive and the food was horrible.

The next morning when I got to the school I was told I had to pay $100.00 instead of $50.00 for an “administration fee” immediately. I tried to explain to someone that I had just taken a CDL and I did not need to take their full course, only the refresher; but they made me pay the $100.00 and shuffled me aside as they began an interrogation program. The interrogators (reported to be some of the local police) were rude and abrasive and VERY intimidating. There assured us that they could tell if we were lying about anything by our body language and threaten to put us out on the street if they even PERCEIVED you were lying to them. During the interrogations they asked inappropriate, personal questions. The people who left were told they could not have their money back. Note: I had already passed a background test before I went to Texas.

After the interrogations, we were given forms to fill out that we did not get time to read; we were told that they were just compliance and schooling contracts and that if we did not sign them we would be made to leave immediately (everything was rush, rush). I again told them that I had just been through a CDL class (I paid $3, 000.00 for) and did not need to take their course, but was told I still needed to sign ALL the forms anyway. We barley got time to sign the papers when suddenly we were pounced upon by CRE high pressure salesmen who were pushing everyone to sign contracts to lease their trucks. They were very vague about the terms and did not seem to want to answer questions. I wanted to look over the contracts but was also told I could not take the contracts with me to read them later.

That night we were sent home with a HUGE test that we were told we had to have done by the next day. Four of us started on them immediately and worked on them until 1:00 AM but had to quit uncompleted because we had to be up the next morn at 4:00 am to get on the bus for school. Hungry sleep deprived, intimidated and pressured…classic break down techniques use in brain washing.

That morning as I was waiting to get on the bus, I noticed a guy with his bags packed and asked him why he was leaving. He said that he had completed the CDL program and was told that CR England would be sending a truck for him to be a second seat driver (HE DID NOT SIGN A TRUCK LEASE), but that after a week the truck never came for him. He said he had waited another week and called CR England over and over but they would not return his calls. Finally, after the third week of waiting, they told him that he was not even in their system and he needed to leave the hotel. He said this place is a total scam, get out while you can.

I quickly called a friend and asked her to do an I-net search on CR England under SCAM and sure enough she got MANY, MANY hits. She told me what people were saying…that it is a SCAM and to get out of there ASAP. It cost me $300.00 to get out of their, but thankfully I had the money to do so. I have heard that many who would not sign a lease, were just thrown out of the boarding stable onto the street in a very bad area with no place to go and no way to get back home. It has been reported that those who would NOT sign a lease were suddenly found to have a dirty drug test, often AFTER they had completed the course…four weeks later. However, the drug tests are done the first day and the results are available immediately; so CR England at least got their CDL MILL tuition and interest out of them. CRE has no intention of hiring very many as second seat drivers. They really just want you to sign a lease.

Thankfully I did not sign a lease for I have come to find that the contracts bind you to a VERY LONG AND COSTLY FINANCIAL OBLIGATION. Their truck lease program is a trap. For space sake I won’t elaborate but Google CR England lease Scam and read the forums and MANY complaints. You will hear from the drivers who have been SEVERLY ripped off in numerous and unbelievable ways through their leasing program. Many have even been forced into bankruptcy by CR England. Bottom Line: DON”T DO IT!

CR England’s CDL MILL is just one of many SCAMS that they have fine tuned to con people. One poster put it very well “They know exactly what they are doing, and just how to attempt to blackmail you into servitude. They mind screw with people all day long. It's pathetic that this is the only way that they can keep people for any length of time…”
Now, after reading so many other complaints, I know that they just conned me down there for the CDL tuition and to see if they could get me to sign a truck lease.

CRE exploits the most desperate people…people who are just looking for honest work.

Now watch as the CR England damage control responders leap into action as they reply to my complaint…they often pose as former satisfied students and passionately dispute the claims; or they accuse the complainer of being bitter due to having had a dirty drug test, or that they were too wimpy, lazy, etc…

Yah man im leasing and currently 600.00 in the hole.
I got.put.on a.rebate.program.and.i have to pay 1800 per week in fuel. After expenses I dont break even. I have asked to goto fuel cap England said I cannot for 2 months at.that.time I will be way over 5000 negative. Maybe theyll see the mess and cancel my lease and repo the truck. I have a family of 5 and we arw living on 1350 per month. The only reason I am.here is because I signed a 6 mnth lease and I need to gain ezperience.
It seems every week they have a new deduction. They.condition you to live on nothing I dont want to quite to.ride.out this.exp.thing. We are.going to be evicted and our car is.going to.be repoed. Literally my next step will be moving my family into the truck if.england doesnt like it cancel my lease and.release me.

C.R. England Lies and more lies

CR England qualifies as the lowest of the low when it comes to promising one thing and then delivering another. My fiance left on a grayhound bus to arrive at the driving school in August. After riding on a bus for more than 18 hours he was housed in 3 different hotels/motels that weren't fit for human occupation. Not only were the rooms infested with roaches and bedbugs these places were frequented by hookers and drug dealers. After training for 3 weeks (training consisted of learning how to back up and park a tractor trailer) he was now ready to "hit the road" with a "trainer". The "trainer" has only been with the company for 9 months and I'm not really sure that he is qualified to "train" anyone with that length of service. (after all, how much can he know after just 9 months of driving?) Then there are the lies about being a "Family oriented business" and having "hometime" after being out for 2 weeks. My fiance has only been home long enough to take care of some papers he received from the court regarding jury duty. And then only after he told the company that they would have to accompany him to court when the "show cause" was issued from the Circuit Court. He also was supposed to be back to Burns Harbor for the second phase of his training over 2 weeks ago. He needs to complete this before he can receive a pay raise. His "trainer" has repeatedly routed them around this area so as to keep him in the truck (he makes more money that way and also so he doesn't have to occupy the truck with someone he may not want to). I wondered when my fiance became involved in this company why they had the turnover rate that they had and now I can see why. I really don't see how any company can promote such lies to the people they employ and not have a reputation for being the liars they are. Use caution when dealing with this company and look forward to not having your family member home with you for any length of time because hometime doesn't exist but sitting in parking lots waiting for loads to deliver is.

C.R. England driver rip off

i have always been a house builder (carpenter) in central florida until the bad economy, i look for a new line of work, i get a loan go to driving school in mid florida tech and get my C.D.L. class A. on April 2008. i get hire by C.R. england with a promise that i could make some money and reach my goals, first i go to training for almost 3 months and they talk me into leasing a truck they show me in paper that with 3400 miles a week i could make 800.00 or better a week, they talk a good game but is all a big lie to use and destroy the new drivers. after a year O.T.R. work, been in the road for a month or two at a time i have only made 8500, and out of that i had to pay 170.00 a week for child support, that comes out of my check, pay for a cell phone that i need for D.M. to call me, and 18.50 a week for them to keep my paper work for the taxes. if it was not for my father and mother helping me with money i would have starved in the road.they never gave me the miles together in one week to pay for the lease the insurance and make ends meet, and when they gave the miles it was always to destroy me with no time to make the delivery on time or no time left on the 70 hour clock from 2000 miles from the week before and 2000 miles from the current week.and in August 2009 they call all the drivers that we had a month to sign a new contract so they could lift the fuel cap, pay less for empty miles, and drivers will have to start paying for permits in short less money for the drivers, i refused to sign the contract and they terminated my contract, at first i said good, but now that i been trying to get another driving job it has been imposibel with the lies they put on my dac. report, so please any driver that have gone thru the same problem and can help me to get a job with a company that appreciates their drivers or give me some advice how i can get back to work i sure appreciated.thank you. [protected]@aol.com pd:also all the companys that use C.R.England to transport merchandise for them should look at what these company is doing to the peopel that consume your merchandise that is one of the reasons that the economy is like it is because we have companys like C.R.England that do not mind crushing the workers or the ones that consume the merchandise to stuff more money in their pocket. thank you. C.R. England Modern Day Loan Sharks

As a former trainer and recruiter I have a few tips to anyone planning on going to work for C.R. England. As someone with a college background in Business I can clearly explain why a lot of people get upset about working for such an employer. First off you need to have a good understanding of what you are doing when you become an independent driver. You are now a business owner and need to protect yourself at all costs. Know the differences between a Sole Proprietorship and an LLC. This saves you a lot of legal worries. England would prefer you to be a SP because in the long run it makes for an easy way to go after you for any money. I can sit here all day and tell people ways that England screwed me but England Prays upon people who really need the work. Next, read the fine print. Finally, for the Post that came from the driver who says he is making money I can show a 20:1 ratio of drivers who would challenge that. I still talk 2 a few of my former students who are trying to get some miles under them so they can get out. I am one of a small group that knew what to expect and prepared for it. Feel free to reply to my message and I may be able to save you from what I call, “legalized pimping.” I liquidated my business and kept my credit rating in tact. By the way for anyone challenging this post I liked to drive that is why I did it, furthermore, I quit and went back home to pursue my MBA. But I still drive for fun (when time allows).

My husband took this “training thing” with CR England on 08/08/2009 because after being laid off for 5 1/2 months and over 2000 resumes sent out and not one phone call for even an interview, he decided to try this out with the hopes that this is going to be our savior from the financial dooms we have been experiencing. So he took the greyhound bus to Salt Lake City UT and it's been just a living nightmare from then. In almost 3 months I have gotten to see my husband a total of 4 days. My husband left me in the middle of farm country with no valid license, no vehicle and no money to go pursue this dream of making all this money with CR England. Well at almost 90 days into this and almost done with phase 2 of his training and wanting to go solo lease afterwards he has put us in more dept then we were when he started. In all this time for phase 1 and phase 2 training he was suppose to make $430.00 a week for phase 1 which after they take their $55.00 out right at the first week of PHASE 1 TRAINING turns out to be around $200.00 if your lucky because you have to take a cash advance to eat with, so your already in the hole for $155.00 or so, depends on how little you eat as to how much your advance is. Then your in phase 2 for “28 days which is another lie”for what is suppose to be around $450.00-$600.00 a week, yeah right, for 2 weeks my husband took home a $15.00 pay check but CR England still took out their $55.00 for the "school & training" If it's training why are you deducting $55.00 a week before your trained?...Go Figure. I have told my husband time and time again that this is just a big waste of time and money and it is costing us not only in money but problems in our marriage because of the lies that CR England tells. From a truck drivers wife...CR England...YOU SUCK!

What about husband and wife teams? my husband just finished phase 1 and is thinking of leasing...he's pretty enthusiastic...he and his trainer drove 23, 000 miles and the truck was out of service for 5 days. We have spent most of our lives in business...self employed...Thanks

C.R. England Highway Robbery

Well I drove as an owner operator for just over two years with England. I did make over 106.000 for each of the two years I busted my ###, however after everything gets deducted I was lucky to make 33, 000 but here's the kicker that is before taxes are paid. They do in no means care about you as an individual you are simply another number in their bloated fleet. They are experts in dispersing the money trail, what I mean is they have your money spent before you make it. Their are a few good people working for England but they must follow the bosses agenda, which is England makes out at all cost & the driver-s well they come a dime a dozen as long as we keep their schools filled. So beware new driver who may be enticed with a bright new shiny truck being offered to you, in comes with a severe price. Your dignity, your time, your family time and your money. AFTER I BUSTED MY ###H ENGLAND FOR OVER TWO YEARS MAKING THEM GOOD MONEY. THEY SEND ME A NOTICE THAT I OWE THEM OVER $8000 FOR STUFF THEY MAKE UP AFTER THE TRUCK IS RETURNED TO THEM. SO DRIVER BEWARE AND MAYBE GO WITH A SMALLER COMPANY THAT KNOWS YOU BY NAME & TREATS YOU WITH RESPECT.

C.R. England fraud and scam

I drove for CR England as a lease operator for almost 2 yrs. I had a 2007 century. when i leased it only had 115, 000 on it. I turned it in with just 0ver 410, 000. i ran a dedicated route with my cousin whom i hired onto my truck. he was also a truck mechanic, so i knew of any problems with truck. Once we got off the dedicated route is when [censored] hit the fans. Sitting for 3-4 days because of dead areas. 300 mile runs as a team.

This truck was junk. I had to spend over $25, 000.00 in maintinance. I went months without a check because freightliner or detroit motors never seemed to fix the issue at hand. I will agree preventable maintinance i can handle, but never should i have had to pay so much money with out England getting involved. There leasing dept and lease advocate people are shameless. I am in the precess of losing everything I have. Home, Car, utilites beginning shutoff just because this company didnt want to help with a lemon truck. heck All I asked for was a different truck but it would have broken leasing laws. by that i mean england rules. I called Dept. of labor, transportation, ooida, and Utah better business burea and not one said they ever have heard such crap. I never had a late load, never refused loads.

i was very weary of quitting, but what else could i do. keep working for them for free while they made money off of me. Or quit and hope and pray that in these econimic times i got hired on fast with some else.

Thanks Buckeye Bill

I went to their school in Fontana. They cram 20-30 in a class and if you don't immediately catch on to their training on how to drive the truck, they will drop you and send you home after evaluation. With that many people in school, you don't get much on the road time. They pile 4 students to a truck. For the ones who can adequately shift a gear, they'll give them more roadtime. But for those who need a little extra help, they will pretty much ignore you until your time to get evaluated. They pay for your room and school but you have to sign a 9 month contract to work it off with them. You do not get paid for your school time so bring money. LUCKILY, I failed my on the road test. I say that because the people that passed are now complaining about working for slave wages (11 hour runs, made $40). When they dropped me, I was no longer under contract with them, got a great education on truck driving and was free to pursue other companies. I searched around for other schools to get over the finish line and found Knight Transportation in AZ. They offer PAID SCHOOLING (got paid $400 a week for going to school, $500 a week for 4 weeks of OTR training), with no contracts and small classes (there was ONLY 5 in my class. Got my Class A there! There school is a fraction of the cost of CR and folks here are great! They do not treat their drivers like cattle . Great start-up company.

It is a ashamed that such company will take advantage of honest hard working lads, who are willing to lay their lives on the line to make a delivery. This ### company should be exposed and held accountable for its bad practices. Perhaps report them to the BBB? Either a class action should be taken or civil suit should be file. GOOD LUCK to everyone.

You folks are completly right about england. The last one who wrote the review is 1 of maybe 100 which have little or no problems so he has NO idea what it is like. Would you like to take the chance of 100 to 1 that you will succeed at england ? And has nothing to do with how well you do in training. I passed everything first time with a 98% grade average. Did a 98% on my dmv cdl test, 95% on inspection, 100% on backing, 98% on road. Have been @ burns harbor IN for 10 wks and have yet to get on a so called phase 2 trk. Have not been paid for 15 days now and they could care less if I eat out of a dumpster, but, they are sorry ! Am leaving to go to work for schneider in 6 days and pay starts first week.$480 A wk while I train for intermod, 41cents a mile after that.Training for that position last 3wks and then on my way.
I have concluded that ALL the bad things about england are correct and would strongly recommend to find a different option other than england for anybody, nothing but heartache and sorry here !

I drove for England from 2005 to 2009. I never had a problem getting enough miles-usually netted
about $1200 a week-that's after all expenses are paid. When I left the company (for family reasons-nothing
to do with CR England) I had no problem getting all money they owed me. I eas nervous, because I had heard many of the nightmare stories like the ones here. As a previous driver wrote-follow their business model-Lease, Train, Drive and you'll be successful.
I went to their driving school and upon arrival was very scared at the number of students complining and talking about being dropped from the school. Well, if you aren't able to safely operate the equipment or pass a basic written test, you should be dropped. Many of the people who hire on do not know how to manage their time, stay ahead of schedule while on a run, or spend their money widsely while on the road.
I have a feeling that this is th emajority of people who are posting here.
After 3 months on the road, I had been in 48 states. My 10 year old son spent 2 summers on the road with me and had the time of his life. He loved seeing the country and still talks about it all the time.

If you dont follow England's bussiness model for success, you will fail 90% of the time. Lease, train, drive... If you have a problem doing any of these three things, you should just hang it up. Last year as a trainer, I brought home $62, 358. That after, paying for fuel, maintance, students, insurance, etc... I'm on course this year to net over $90, 000. In fact I'll own my truck- title in hand Sep. of this year and I haven't even celebrate my second year with the company. I'm married with three kids so home-time is very important. I go home for 4 days for every thirty I do out on the road. If you come here with your own master plan ie. some 1989 I used to be a O/O crap you'll fail. Or I'm going to run w/ my mother, cousin sister crap you will fail. It's a new game out here! Just got to be smarter than the average bear...

I just returned from Europe recently and I was trying to convert my European CDL to a California CDL. CR England tried to tell me that I could not convert my European CDL to a US CDL without going through CDL driving school. In other words I had to start all over again. This was contradictary to what the DMV of California told me! All I needed was a written test and driving test. I enrolled anyways and CR England tried consistantly to talk me into the lease program. I said no several times until I adamately said NO just before my hands on training began. One insructor at the Fontana CA. yard even threatened to drop me from the course if I continued to F***up. I was then questioned about work references and about some information that I voluntarily disclosed. They wanted a statement about a minor accident that I had in Eurpoe while driving a car (all voluntarily disclosed). They then asked one more time, would you be interested in the lease program. I said NO! again. With in 2 hours, I was dropped from the course. I came to find out later that a vast majority of the instructors at the Fontana yard never drove for CR England and were hired on to be instuctors there. They did not know jack doodley-squat about England's company policies or the lease program. All that came from the Mira Loma campus.
So, after 3 weeks of wasted time, I have been cleared from having to pay $2995.00, and signing a lease that would probably have ruined me a few months from. So thank you very much CR England and Mr. Canseco for saving me alot of hassle and grief. I have moved on with my career succesfully. One other thing, my heart and prayers go out to those who were scammed by these corporate [censor].

Went to Dallas Texas from San Antonio on Greyhound CR England Payed for my ticket. Then they tried to get me to buy a Truck. When I said NO They went ahead and told me to train and I even got my Class A License after paying for lots of cost, like my License, Then all of a sudden I did not qualified and told me to find my way back to San Antonio, Put me out in the street, I believe CR did it because I will not sign a Contract to get a Truck and I was out in the cold with no job or money to get home. My Girlfriend Drove to pick me up. It has been over 5 months now. My class C license was cut up at the DMV so it will be no good anymore, my Class A Never came to my home Called many times. Post- office, DMV. Each time I am told that the DMV has sent it to me the Class A. Now I have no License not a class C or A. I have no idea what happen. No one will hire me with out a I.D.

I say again if you have half of a brain do not drive for CR *hitland. I read through their leasing agreement pamphlet they hand out to everyone while there in school. You can plainly see that you wont make any money by the time you get through paying for fuel and all the other charges they assess you. At the end of the lease contract you do not get an option to buy the truck, but you pay for it weekly with all the maintenance coming out of your pocket. I asked alot of questions while there attending the school in cedar hill tx. They dont like to answer questions about money, they act as like you are disturbing them and shouldnt be asking questions.
150-250 people flow through there weekly and its like if you have a pulse and can meet the minimum requirements youll get in.
They are playing a numbers game and they know they will eventually get enough dummies to do what they want them to do and make them feel like they are doing them a favor. This type of treatment of the american worker is the reality alot of hard working people like us are facing. Its like these companies want you to work for less and less money.

I firmly sgree with the the [censor] me standing comments...And if u think ooida gives a [censor]..I had similar issues with a smaller company...But...I ran my [censor] off, the more i ran the less i made..When I first got into the truck everything was ok...But when I needed certain things like a tire, , , boy they act as though i wanted 10 new ones..The thing that pissed me off the most was ooida...First of all he didnt act like he gave a [censor] what i had to say at jumpstart...then all he could say was..What was n ur contract..What is ooida anyway?A government ran business thats there for what?It damn sure isnt for the owner operator...I should of told him that gettin to a customer by 7:00am, , then to next pikup by 2:00pm, then driving 650 more miles, , , sometimes 750 more miles to b there by 6:00am the next day isnt in my contract either but i do it to survive. And why is it that i pay maintenance account every week, and they dont do what their charging me for..I just paid out of my acct for a ujoint rplacement, , they replaced 1 ujoint cap..Did they not order the other 3?Believe me i've only been doin this 11 yrs now, and i dont see where its getting any better with any company...Why dont they tell u their only telllin u what they want u to hear then after u start...maybe 2 months later it changes..Explain that...I cant!

Drivers, I'm headed to Salt Lake City soon for training. And if one single recruiter, dispatcher, terminal manager, or scheduler attempts to do one thing illegal, against safety policy, FMCSA, or in any way constitutes a violation of their written agreement (including a violation of human rights and endangerment), or uses unethical coercion to force drivers into taking rolls in the company that are advertised as free decisions, you will know about it, because it will make the headlines. That should tell you a little about who we are and what we do. After this year, look for the same thing in FFE, Swift, and Central. These companies utilize Federal Subsidies. That means they have laws to follow. Stay tuned, and be patient.

C.R. England Awful experience

I worked for CRE for more than a year, I never have had an accident or ticket with them or any other Co in 30+ years of driving. They are liars and cheats. Anything they tell you 'is a good deal for you' is not, it is to their advantage only. Co drivers get a per diem option, CRE takes 1.5 cents per mile out of your pay and makes it tax free and then only gives you back .5cents. They claim this is a handling fee, that works out to about three thousand dollars to them.

You can have a tax prep do it for $150.00. They tell you there is a 1 cent per mile safety bonus you get quarterly. They deduct 1 cent if you fail to take a monthly safety or get in an accident. When you call them for your bonus they tell you the truth, they only deduct for non safety not reward for safety.

LEASE OPERATORS BEWARE they pay 90 cents less 14 variable millage thats 76 cents less maint, insurance, fuel you will not make any money as a single driver and will make an insulting amount if you run teams and run very hard. They over charge you for repairs at their shops, and add a percentage to the so called tire program.

Forget going home, I went to work for them in Sept and the first time I got home was MAY! They tried to deny that time till I went to Fatigue management and the only human in the Co came to my rescue.

There is a safety manager named Larry Luke who needs a stern silent lesson in respect for others. I am sure some day someone will give it to him. It is people like him and a lot of others that they need ARMED GUARDS to get into the corporate offices.

I am sure Chester England would roll over in his grave if he knew what his family has turned into and done with his legacy. I would rather work at WalMart that for CR ENGLAND, they are a discrace to the trucking industry and big business everywhere.

I was going to send my 23 year old son to CRE training thinking he would be making a bunch of money and be set, but you all have made me change my mind. I'll just send him to class B CDL school and he can drive a dump truck or cement truck or something. And be home at night. Thank God for the internet or my son would have had to endure all that you all went through. Thank you for taking the time to post your experiences and I am sorry you had to go through what you did.

I've been in and out of trucking over a period of 50 years. This is a new world of trucking. The complaints all of you are giving now can be applied to about 99.9% of trucking as a HOLE. The working world will never change unless the majority gets together. They haven't in my 50 years of trucking and I'm guessing they never will.

im guessing this is a common problem but im actually a guy and had to go with a phase 1 driver for a month like most trainees do and had a similar situation. im 26, slim, white guy, clean cut, and do happen to be bisexual but im me which is mostly strait acting but not in the closet to get a better understanding of who i am. so me i had brought a laptop that had water damage and the keyboard and wifi card didnt work on it so my trainer said he was a computer wiz so i let him take a look at it one night when i took my shift and not even an hour later he came up front, sat in the passenger seat and started asking and complimenting me on my photos and telling me he blew one of his friends when he was younger and liked it. from then on it got worse till i finally had to tell him off because i dont like my bottom getting pinched while i sleep by some nasty old fart who i dont know, dont like, and could barely stand.

I had the rudest people at CR England come up to me and just say the most crude things to me. I know trucker men have a bad rap about being dirty old men sometimes, but a large percentage of England drivers seemed to fit that description to a tee. DIRTY MEN with no manners or decency. I wish I had a story to help you out, but verbal abuse from other drivers probably won't cut it. I had a lease driver trainer get drunk and proposition me one time, but after i politely told him there was no chance in hell, grabbed my mace and went back to sleep on the bunk, he left me alone. Good luck

C.R. England Terrible experience

Hello fello professional drivers. If you are planning on attending CR England's Orientation, DON'T. Everything is geared towards Lease teams. They do not pay orientation or even feed you. If you want there is one chef there that will serve you a double cheeseburger for 5.00, after you wait in line for 45 minutes or more with the other 160 drivers.

He is the only chef there serving you. There are no restaurants around so your screwed there. After your done with orientation get prepared to be really pissed off. They will tell you that it will take almost 3 weeks to get you a truck and send you back home via the lovely greyhound. Then you have to call them everyday to see where you are at on their 'list'. You have to ask yourself just one question. Why are there so many people in orientation?

The answers are common sense. Don't let them lie to you, they are very good at it. I am now looking at other companies and do not plan on leasing anything from them. You are a disposable number to them and you feel that from day one.

Anyone who wasn't turned off by England after experiencing the Sunday orientation has to have an IQ under 80. The 3 hour wait from the bus station to the dingy hotel should have been your first indication. Then when you finally get to the hotel you find out that its not time to rest because you have to go to their facility even though it clearly said on your invitation that this wasn't going to occur until Monday. Then at the facility you have to be grilled by an off duty cop, get your blood pressure checked with a rigged machine by a doctor who is really only a chiropractor, and pee in a cup. This doesn't sound like much but the left handed vibe I got from every England rep I had to deal with was enough for me to go AWOL when I finally got back to the dingy Home Town Lodge at 4:30 PM. I got my bags from the "baggage" room and walked out the back door around the hotel to the Best Western down the street. The next day I took a plane back home. Before I went to the Burns Harbor facility I read many complaints like the ones on this website, but I still wanted to see what England had to offer. I have never had a more uncomfortable experience in all my life. It is all a big "put-on". Don't sign anything unless you have your attorney present.

C.R. England scam and lies

I called these idiots up because I was desperate for a driving job due to a termination from a previous company because of an accident. they say the accidents was no problem and they'll work with me and to come to orientation. hopped on the greyhound in the middle of tropical storm Hanna to Indiana that week end and then the trouble begins.

I get there Sunday night at 9 pm in Gary to wait for the shuttle to the motel (me and 28 other guys that was going for orientation). we get picked up (2 hours later) and the shuttle driver tells us that we have to be downstairs at 5:30am to catch the bus or it's a 40 dollar cab ride to the terminal. I didn't even stay in the motel they told me I was going to stay in. had to go to the Motel 6 next door. with only 6 hours of sleep I almost missed the bus but caught it anyway.

Got to the terminal and the place was packed with people. the classroom had close to 100 people. the whole day they were pushing people to lease a truck like a pushy salesman. skipping ahead I was told that I had to take a refresher course and it will cost me 50 dlls to start and I had to sign a loan thing for training. so I did. The food was expensive and the staff was lousy and rude.

The next day I was called to personnel and told that I was being sent home due to a bad drug test saying they found cocaine in my system. I protested saying I don't even smoke cigarettes how is that possible? they said 'how should I know drug user'. I yelled in rage because of this lack of info and they threatened to called the cops on me due to my outburst. So I yelled give me my 50 dlls back since I'm not going to train. they said no it's non refundable. after hearing that I wanted to rip that place apart because that was all I had left.

I was treated like sh** the 2 days I was there and I don't want to imagine what it would be like if I drove for these MFers. I advise anyone to stay as far away from this company. To them you're not a driver, you're more like cattle waiting to be slaughtered for the meat to make money off of.

drug tests DO LIE. with 3 inconclusive and blood tests were spot less it was contributed to contaminated collecting supplies. if you are NOT watching and the company does not want to SUCK IT UP for making a mistake and hiring you they will use this as a POOR excuse to get rid of you. here is how it works.
you give a sample it comes back clean. all is good so far! BUT safety saw something they didn't like on your dac or state records.. now they decided the risk is too great and you do not meet the underwriters guidelines. even though england is self insured SOMEBODY has to guarantee the funds usually a third party insurance provider. so now you just lie and say your drug test came back dirty since the donor will never check or ask to see results he/she has to split. you have a right to see the results and challenge them! remember you are VOLUNTARILY giving consent to be searched by participation.! if the collector asks you to do something before the samples are sealed you have the right to refuse signatures and be retested. (NEVER TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE SAMPLES) i NEVER sign anything until the plastic shipping bag is sealed thus i have been asked to leave TWICE! now as for calling somebody a loser that does NOT say much about YOU (UNSEENSPIRIT) either!

C.R. England fraud and scam

I was a lease driver for C R England, been with the company two months. As soon as my application comes through on the current company I applied for, they can have their truck back... In two months of running aprox 3400 miles a week as a lease operator, my entire take home pay has been a whooping 1200 dollars. last week i was in the hole for $511.00. My truck is a 2007 freighliner century, with 203k miles on it.

In orientation, they really pushed the issues about leasing a truck, and like most of the their other lease victims, I went there to make money. On friday, after orientation was over, and making my rounds thru their rat maze of Dms, payroll, safety, and metal detectors, I was told I would have to wait for aprox10-14 days to get a company truck. Of course, I had bills to pay, child support payments a month behind, and the courts threatening to suspend my license if my payments were not paid in a timely manner. Here comes the lease people, dangling their pretty trucks, their catchy 'be independent, lease from us' scam lines in front of a financially desperate driver. Like all the rest, I went, picked out a nice pretty yellow truck (same old red is ugly, everyone wants a 'different' color) and became their next fool in a long line of poor ****ers.

Two days into the lease, my first load out from salt lake city was to il, my check engine light came on, truck shut down lights start flashing, low coolant codes . I stop, buy a gallon of coolant, continue on down the road. Next day same thing happens again. loss of another gallon of coolant 300 miles down the road. I pull into a TA, get approval for them to look at it, two hours later, I get the diagnosis that the coolant reservoir has a crack in the seams, nothing major, but yet i am charged for their supposed 'warranty work'.

Day two, 150 miles away from my receiver, same stuff, i pull into a Loves, and I can see coolant streaming down from under their radiator, under the coolant reservoir, everywhere it seemed. so i put another two gallons in and head to my del. I call up rd svc, take the truck to nearest svc point... come to find out after 5 mins of them looking truck over, I have a cracked head. 4 weeks later I barley get back to my truck to pick it up (i was loaned a company truck at least, they gotta keep their money coming in somehow).

Anyways what the final kicker is, the reason I am saying to hell with them all together is my hometime.
I have 2 small daughters (3 & 6) I promised i would spend 4th of july with this year. Put in my first hometime request back in may for july 2nd-6th. June 25 i get a load to chicago with del on june 30. Words back and forth dm says he'll get me home... blah blah blah. July 7th i am finally walking in the door and thats after bobtailing 250 miles home because the nearest to portland oregon they could route me was walla walla, wa... they refused to give me the out of route miles credited back to me, when they have a terminal/drop yd 5 miles away from my house. I got taken off of their fuel optimization program because of going the extra 250 miles home put me below their compliance levels.

I have never ever in my life been so disgusted with a companies treatment of their drivers.

I am so sorry to see soo many people getting royaly [censor]ed by C.R. England. I have been with England for a little over 11 years now and I have had mostly all good times. I'll tell you right now that as a new driver, never, never, never lease a truck from England unless you plan to team drive Or become a trainer... PERIOD! the lease program is NOT designed to work for a solo driver! YOU WILL NOT MAKE ANY MONEY THAT WAY. it is designed to be a team operation all the way and you will loose your home, and everything you own if you try to lease as a solo driver. DONT EVEN CONSIDER IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO FAIL! it will not work, it cannot work. I have seen soo many drivers get screwed by this company when it comes to the lease program. They say you will make BIG MONEY? yes, this really is true but what they don't tell you is the money you are making is for the company! Not you!
You pay for all truck EXPENCES All of it. They say you are an INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR... no, you are a glorified company driver because as a "real" independent contractor they cannot tell you where to fuel, what route to take, require you to get a certain mpg to qualify for the fuel cap, require the use of the Qualcomm and electronic logs. All of this is required making you a company driver! Fed-ex just got slapped silly by a huge law suit because of this and many more companies are going to fallow . DO YOURSELF THE BIGGEST FAVOR YOU CAN DO FOR YOURSELF AND STAY AWAY FROM ENGLAND AS A LEASE DRiver. Check out OOIDA.com or call them an ask what a real lease driver is about at [protected] . This is the OWNER OPERATOR INDEPENDENT DRIVER ASSOCIATION. they will set you strait. They are the only national organization Sticking up for Americas truckers and have been since 1973! Have them look over any lease befor signing. If the leasing company has a problem with that, that is your first warning sign! Good luck everyone. DAWG

I am so frustrated with England right now, and my husband and I should have did our research, but we were so excited to have an opportunity to have our own truck one day. My husband is trying to get out of there as we speak but is being held in a city and they will not move him. My kids and I have only seen him once last month and so far once this month, and he is not making $%*% for money! He has been running his tail off for weeks with no home time and just got his pay and they gave him nothing! they are telling him that he owes them money! WTF! his last pay check barely paid our rent, now we have other bills that need to be paid. He had to ask them for money to go through the toll and to weigh his load because they gave him no money this pay! how is he supposed to get the load there on time? I know, they don't care. Something has to be wrong when a company has you go through medal detectors to get in the office in SLC. Maybe they are expecting people to come in and go on a shooting rampage to get their money. This company is ridiculous! My poor husband skips meals most days because he has no money to eat!

I went to the school in Texas, and a Ex-Marine (some old dude) yelling like a drill instructor pointed to me as an example and said, "this young man might be on drugs.". I guess it was supposed to scare us to learn and not be users. Went through the drills, and my roomate told me he was an army brat. Nice fellow just freakin' huge. He told me, "just make sure you get the license."> then continued to leave early for frito-lay. Look, this whole thing with the internet and iso is getting rediculous. I was intimidated at their school, even the front desk told me, "they are trying to intimidate you.". I bugged out took a bus from Dallas area to Houston then swithched at the terminal to the East side of Lufkin, waited on the curb until I got picked up. Went out to eat during the break and one of the classmates sharply told me, "when you get out of here trust you mother, mother n law, and your wife. One of the many creepy comments made from characters while I was down in East Texas. I got so intimidated at the class and just being away with barely any money my skin shivered. I couln't even concentrate. It mostly because of being thrown into the military without signing a consent form or taking an oath (thats what it felt like). Went on the bus, they spelled my name on the ticket King David and I rode away to never return. I don't mind characters at all, in fact I like them; however, they have to be the kind loving people we all need. There is no reason for them to take the money 400.00 at the time to hurry you through the school ship ya off to Utah and then wait for a huge layover while your earnings don't even accumulate. OTR sounds fun as advertised but the reality is - its deppressing to be away from home. My roomate did make a valid point about the Bush Admin though - "I don't really care for them.". "I don't know how ya'll relationship is"...but I would look for trucks without bunks to bring your sweetie.

hey guys guess what. the only company drivers england is now hiring is the students they are no longer hiring experienced company drivers guess the dispatchers dont like it when the guy behind the wheel tells him he is an A%&HOLE once a week and the driver gets away with it. or calls the operations manager and demands the unpaid miles be paid or come get the truck from behind the chicken coop with an unsafe to operate sticker on it. OH it could also be because D.O.T. got wind of the fact that england is telling the drivers log "off duty driving" when outta hours to get there on time. had my suspicions on the lease took it to an attorney he said " if you sign this its NOT illegal for me to smack you with a sledgehammer" he laughed so hard he wizzed himself..BUT like at the meat plant they line-up every monday like a herd of cattle to get slaughtered at the meat plant. i call it "slaughter day"

I went through the same thing two years ago, and they kept on pushing lease. I left the company and glad to be a local driver in my home town. OTR sucks, and CR England showed my why big companies prey on the hard working men and women. If you want to make little or next to nothing work for CR England . Please try company driving before you hook up into a lease, so you can understand how trucking works. The promise of making big money is their selling tactic.

C.R. England Still getting screwed

This is the second time I have leased. Like many other people here, I was lured not only by our current economy, but by the promise of MILES. Now my first couple months were not bad. Then I got into the container fleet based out of Colorado. Talk about screwed big time. The DM's in this fleet would give me the wrong info to give at the ports to get a container/genset/chassis released to me and I would wind up sitting at the port Oakland or Long Beach for the weekend. The DM Shaun would promise me compensation, and he never delivered. I was recruited into the fleet and quoted a wrong pay scale, which I was told I would be compensated for, it never happened. In this same fleet I would sit at pork plants for up to two days with no detention pay whatsoever.

Now back in a general North American fleet, I am lucky if I get 2300 miles a week. I will get to my delivery anywhere from 3 hours to 18 hours early, be unloaded, ready to go for the day and then my next load does not pick up till the next night. So there is another almost 2 days sitting with no income. I am also a trainer. I still have only one 4000+ mile week as a trainer since November. My last apprentice, going into his third week had only gotten 5200 miles in two weeks. You have read how the apprentice gets paid 57 dollars a day during training. 37 dollars of that is taken from the trainer’s pocket, because, and I quote a high ranking CR England employee..."you trainers are getting the big miles, and making the big bucks..."

My last apprentice will even tell you that he shouldn't even have his CDL, because during his CDL test, the CRE DOT evaluator was shifting the truck for this student during his DOT CDL test!

The only guys making money at CRE are the guys in the Autoliv, Hershey's, and fleets like that. I was given 6 days to run a Walmart apple load, with an apprentice, and was told we could not be taken off the walmart load, and had to sit it out. So I dropped the apprentice off in Indiana and got him with a trainer from the Hershey's fleet. It's really motivating to see your apprentice getting a 300 dollar check and you as a lease operator get a 45 dollar check.

And don't even call your IC advocate. I had an IC advocate tell me "...well you are clearing 503 dollars a week...what's the problem?

The only thing keeping me afloat right now is the detention pay. I love getting beef loads at this point because I know they will be up to 20 hours late loading and I get 26 dollars an hour to sit there.

No truck driving company has green grass. You can keep jumping from one company to the next, and within 3 years you probably will have driven for 5 companies.

If I can't make this work, to *** with truck driving. I would rather swallow my pride and go work a counter at a hotel in my hometown making the same crap money I am now but be home every night...

Very very true, CRE is a bull ### company, I to almost landed into their BS, My first trainer, oh boy was a real joke. First day I arrived into the Mira Loma yard to meet up with him, another employee walking by started talking to me and had informed me to run away from here as fast as possible, I thought at first oh here's a guy that just isent doing what he needs to do to make it, then getting on my trainers truck, "All I heard for 5 days was the same ### about how awefull this company is to work for. Plus I caught my trainer driving on my log time, first day when I had gotten on the truck the f***er tricked me, being green, watched me type my pass word in the qualcom, and was driving on my log time. I got the f*** of his truck, reported it to my TM, who had informed me that he had numerouse complaints of the same actions.
After getting a new trainer, which I can say was an awesum trainer, we ran western region.

This poor guy had a prior trainee put his truck in a ditch and f***ed it up so it was in the shop for 45 days.
Which he had to pay for all the repairs plus the down time of not hauling, yes he could of gotten a loaner while his truck was in the shop, but he had forgotten about that, and of course no one at CRE had brought it up to this guy about that option. So of course he's getting kicked out of his place he's staying at due to the domino affect of not having any income for that 45 days.
I had gone through the Fontana School, so my CDL is from CA. so I dont have to worry about CRE thinking they can take mine, since CA is good through out all 48.
They say that you'll get 26 cpm starting out after training, BS.
Dont see how these companies get buy working the employees who are in training, that drive 11 hours a day 7 days a week, ### 4 dollars an hour.

If you plan on attending one of CRE schools, dont sweat it, they will give you "all the answers to all the test"
And you will pass your driving skills test no matter what. had some really bad class mates that should not of been allowed behind the wheel, that CRE pushed right through and got them their CDL.

If you attend the Utah school, I was informed by the students there while I was considering going for the lease, that if you dose off in class they through a foam ball at you, if that doesnt get your attention, then they throw a bag of beans at you, ### throw a bag of beans at me, you'll get a chair in the air right back at you.

Yes it is true, CRE is only in it for you to lease a truck, and if you do your at the mercy of them, my class mate who went down that road, well fist week he took home 214.00 dollars, for 7 days of driving, second week he cleared 45.00.

CRE policy now is that every new trainee is to have 50/60 K miles prior to doing an upgrade, last month they had 9 roll overs, poor guys out there having to burn the candle at both ends hoping to bring enough money home.
###, if a person goes for 2nd seat all they get is 12 cpm, if you wanna go for a company position you will be sitting until they come up with a truck for ya, hope the school you are at is in your home town.

This company needs to be shut down, DOT needs to due some under cover work on this one.
Maybe it will save some lives.

CR England is in the leasing business, not only trucks but also cars ; transportation is a sideline. From day one of orientation a beautiful women with a great smile comes in the room and pushes "the lease program." If you do decide to lease, training newer drivers (then ones self), is recommended by CR England, in order to make more money. The reality though is to make that average $700.00 weekly payment it cost to lease a truck. Most transportation companies require drivers to have an average of one year experience, be a top notch driver, before they are considered for the extensive in class training program they require to become a Driver Trainer. At CR England, as long as you lease a truck from them, you can become a Driver Trainer after graduation from their school, as little as one month of O.T.R. experience and one day of in class training. Makes me wonder if the "lack of responsible training" is the reason why "roll overs, deaths" are on the rise at CR England. Also I wonder what Utah D.O.T. would do if they caught "wind" that a certain percentage of CR England Trainers do not do post-inspections that are required by both federal and state law. Sure they inter electronically that they do inspections, but to physically do the required inspection after each 10 hr driving period...it speaks for itself.

i leased with them for 8 months and the only real complaint i can agree with is the lack of hometime!it takes an act of congress to get home! now as far as pay goes, you can take home between 5 and 8 hundred dollars a week leaseing solo and if you train around 1400 average breing home per week! not including hometime!i averaged about 4800 miles per week and yes there is some sit time! cant speak for dedicated routes as i only ran national !but the key to success there is not to let your dm manage you ! you have to manage yourself! wich means dont accept loads into dead markets and always communicate at least 24 hours in advance your estimated availability time!the only reason i left was to get home more often!

These folks are prime examples of what it means to be a "Christian". Just look at the history of "Christianity"...it's full of examples of deceit, cruelty, bigotry, fraud, and yes, even murder. A for "Mormons" being "Christians"...that debate is still ongoing. How can you claim to be a "Christian" when you worship a man, Joseph Smith and place him above Jesus?

Yes, you think this company would be honest because they're supposed to be Christian (Mormon). Not the case. They will screw the driver out of every dime they can. They sure don't follow the golden rule of "do under others as they would do unto you". The folks in Salt Lake are getting nice paychecks while the guys working are getting deductions to support the corporate office. Drivers beware, these folks are not a good example of the Christian Faith. CR England equals BIG TIME SCAM!

I let my wife go trucking because she wanted to and that we needed more money. Didnt know that CR England lets men and women ride together in the same truck together even tho they are not mrried together. Boy i was stupid to let her go there, now im looking at devorce probably because of there ways of doing things. Other good companies dont let this happen unless the couples are married. I should have never let her go there or drive in the first place, that was my fauly i guess. But there should be a law against couples driving together unless there married.

I recently went to Burns Harbor ID. and took the refreasher course, spent 3 months on the road and return to lease a truck. after reviewing the lease agreements and making notes asking questions, I realized that this is a JOKE and left before I got mired in the mud, It i sad that a lot of youg guys out their think this is the way to go, no one is their to tell the facts they are a leaseing company, that is all about making money off of the unsupecting
person who is leaseing from them, they think you can live on a hotdog and a bottle of water
everyday and make money in qoute your new business as a IC, But! we cant say that you will get the miles you need or get home time, and when ask to explain futher, you are told that your question is messing up, the class
Im glad I left, and didnt mess up my self!. But I feel sorry for the people in my class that just didnt get it, so much for our boys coming home, they will be in a whole new battle now!

As I said on an earlier post, I don't know how the guys at CR England can look at themselves in the mirror each morning. They have all these "legal loopholes" and deductions to support they're Corp. officers. It's a dishonest company and I am very surprised that they're based in SLC. Usually, mormons are very honest christians. Not so with these unrighteous heathens. Driver's beware, do not get hooked into their scam. I think all the lease drivers should WALK! They can figure out how to get their trucks back to the yard. If you do turn your truck in be sure to have it evaluated by a third party mechanic and take pictures of EVERYTHING! They will try to charge you for every light bulb that doesn't work. Oh, and of course, it's THEIR mechanics that make the repairs. To summarize, CR England is dishonest and unethical.

with comments coming from the boss' and i quote " so you want to play games lets see how funny these games are when i let you sit somewhere for a week" how is this positive for ANY employee, office or otherwise? sure some will get by with some ### and crying but why cant the dispatcher just do what he is paid to do? his job is a mere liaison between you and the load planner. but he acts like he is doing you a favor. i have said it before take the bonus' out of the equation pay straight salary see who sticks around. For me or others being forced to goto the trouble of having to remind our SUPERVISOR just what exactly his job is and being put on the spot to be next in line at the greyhound station is more than what my job description calls for. go over the supers' head your gone too. sure SOME will get away with it then after 2-3 weeks its business as usual. im not disputing the fact there is NO money to be made sure one could make a mint in a short time if the entire TEAM plays by the rules. see the fact there is NO "I" in team! the problem is simple the company wants and is not willing to give. with a line of drivers a mile long why should the company care about ANYBODY... NEXT IDIOT PLEASE!
FACT: drivers have been let go after road testing for "UNSUREDNESS" what the hell is that?

There are so many companies out there these days, it is hard to find one that will stack money on your plate for nothing, I have found that the best way to make it rich is win the lottery, no one else is going to put money in your pocket for free. You need to work at it and be more insistent if you want to get your point across. if you let anyone take advantage of you they will not stop, but if you put your foot down the first sign of problems they will think twice of messing with you. most drivers think it is easy to drive a truck and think they will make there first million the first year. I have been driving for over 20 years (well over) and have seen drivers loose there trucks and many more make enough to buy more trucks. you need to be firm with the company you driver for let them know you will not take any crap from the start. be persistent and insistent, if you have to shut yourself down till the problem is cleared up, I have down that many times and when they saw I was not going to make even the boss any money they got off there butts and took care of my problems every time.

It was the worst experience of my life. Thankfully I got a job now with a very good company. Anyone who is thinking of going to CR(we will screw you)England please think long and hard they will do to you what they do to all the drivers there screw you over and leave you in the cold. I was once asked if CR england paid good? My response was yeah they do if your last name is England! I tried and tried for over a year and and every turn was screwed by England! Please think before you sign with them it will be the worst thing you will ever do! There are lots of companys out there and everyone better than CR England! Thanks

should have left sleeping dogs lie. upon hiring on to the company i was informed that i would need a refresher course this was all fine by me. this is where i should have hung-up the phone and press the ignore button. england claims to safety oriented BS. trainer scaring the crap out of motorists and student all the same. gouge my check for who knows why. when i asked where the money is going or what reason i was told you owe us money..after the "refresher" was told option 1 is team-up option 2 is get on the bus and have a nice life. the doors to this place are like that of a macy's department store they run around and around with a flood of employees/drivers. i have seen drivers fired because they were rearended by some one in the safety dept. while she was yakking on the fone. there are 2 sides to all stories yes but no less than 10 witnesses sided with the driver of the truck. still he was given the boot. the dispatchers known as DM's are admittedly "selfish" sure they go home every night when i asked i got a 2 page qualcomm message basically telling me to "wizz-off". i have driven for many carriers some have less than 200 trucks some as many as 5000+ units i have never had this many problems or have ever been treated this poorly. and the women drivers get treated even worse with reports of rape to blatent sexual harrassment which go unreported and many cases are treated as "you need to get your differences sorted out" type of deal. would i recommend this company as an employer NO WAY. i can advise of this action as the best action dont waste your time money or effort goto unemployment they are much more polite.
