This site tracks internet behavior to help you stay away from porn. I became unhappy because they reported to my accountability partner that my activity should be reviewed when my activity was quite appropriate. This embarrassed me repeatedly and unnecessarily. I told them to end my membership. Only after a few communications they said I could have changed the rating type I had. I still was displeased and told them again to stop my membership. Last night they shut down my access to the internet and will not connect me again. I have early stage dementia and cannot do what is to me a highly complex process to regain access. I explained that and they still do not (can not?) restore internet access. I was no longer a member and so believe their seemingly draconian measure was extremely unnecessary and thoughtless, not to say perhaps (?) illegal.

My suggestion is to be careful with this company - just sayin.

I think everything about CE though well intentioned is totally bad.
1st it's basically spyware and it's not just your chosen accountability partner who has access to monitoring. Always a backdoor.
2) Its campaigns suggest to women that their husbands can't be trusted...that all men are hopelessly perverted and they are given the power of a prison warden. Or maybe like men are children and wives are Nannying us. What does this do to headship? Doesn't help it that's for sure. It sends the message that women should have the power and be the head.
3) as if women don't watch porn.

CE seems to me a combination of religious prudes and feminism. The unholy icequeens and passive neutered men who thought this company up to profit off prudish paranoia and the self-rightousness of wives is sickening.

Kiblade,

I wanted to reach out to you on behalf of Covenant Eyes to apologize for the manner in which our relationship ended. As someone who used Covenant Eyes for several years prior to employment here, I share your desire to remain integrous online. I also know the delicate nature of accountability relationships, so I empathize with that momentary embarrassment.

It sounds like your accountability partner was receiving your Internet activity reports at a sensitivity level that was a little too conservative. An accountability partner has the ability to tailor the reports to an appropriate sensitivity level. In your case, I think changing the sensitivity level would have yielded less frustration and more clarity.

As it relates to the closing of the account, I am really sorry for the frustration. It was never our intent to prevent internet access for you. We always try to catch any outgoing members on the phone to close out an account. We do this to ensure that we deactivate the proper account, etc. I assume that's why we bantered communication back and forth a few times while you were attempting to close the account. Again, I am sorry for any frustration this caused--it wasn't our intent.

Once the account is deactivated it is necessary to uninstall the software to maintain internet access. Covenant Eyes is built so that it requires a login to gain access to the internet. This makes the software far more effective as an accountability tool. However, it also means that internet access is prevented without an active username and password. Because of this, we try to walk all outgoing members through the uninstallation process. I am not sure how we missed the opportunity to help you uninstall, but I am sorry. I assure you it was not our intent to prevent your internet access.

Thank you for your understanding, and again, I am genuinely sorry for any frustration.
