How responsive is Costco's customer service?

Very poor 🤒
We don't know much about how Costco handles customer complaints outside ComplaintsBoard, but what we see here, on our website, is quite disappointing. We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. But until that happens, we ask reviewers to be cautious when dealing with Costco and using their services, and to carefully read the experiences of other customers on ComplaintsBoard, because who is warned is armed, you know! 💪

Costco bad customer server chronical!

Chronical Bad Customer Service
by loyal customer of Costco
(10 consecutive years executive member )

2007 Summer:

Purchased a watch from the Jewelry department in costco. For my 80 years old gramma who went shopping with me. This item is regarded as a valuable one that they keep in those cabinet so you gotta go to the customer service counter after you check out. They got me the watch and said "This is the display watch from the counter since this is the only one you can either want it or get a raincheck." Obviously I wanted the watch BECAUSE I'M BUYING IT; for my gramma too. They took the watch and disappeared. 15 minutes later I asked the current employee attending the counter where is the lady with the watch I purchased. He sort of ran off and ignored me and ran off. 30 minutes later, I asked another manager looking employee with good manner explaining my situation. He told me she's getting a box for that watch and will be with me in 5 min. 30 minute passed I tried to ask other Costco employees they ignored me totally. My gramma stood there for a hour I also asked if they can get a chair for the elder. They coldly answer "No, we don't have chairs." It isn't until a full 1 and half hours later where that lady employee approached me while on her cellphone chatting with a broken dirty box for my watch. Couple points here, disrespectful toward elder, disrespectful to customer, shuns customer, bad working attitude, I feel I can summarize more but I'll stop here.

2008 May
During checkout the cashier errored so that one of the items we baught wasn't registered to the receipt. The gatekeeper caught it and made a huge fuss out of it by calling the security and pulling the alarm. She told the security that we are "stealing [stuff] from costco." Even the dummest store clerk on this planet wouldn't trying to embarrass to the point of pissing off a customer like this. I mean it would be very cool and simple by saying "oh one of your item is not on the receipt wanna wait here while I get someone to help you?" It took me about 10 minutes repeating the same sentence "We didn't STEAL! from costco! Everything here has cashier's finger print on it! AND STEAL MEAN YOU TAKE THE ITEM BYPASSING CASHIER'S HANDS!" Wasted about an extra 2 hours at Costco that day. I guess people are not so intelligent after all. The gatekeeper could simply set us aside and call another store employee to give us a quick check out on that fail scanned item at the customer help counter. Later I requested her to apologize to me for false accusation of theft. She refused with silence.

2009 Oct. Holloween
I am fed up with the same gatekeeper lady asking for my member card. She sort of knows me from the previous "she called me stealing from costco" accident. But I noticed she most of the time never even bother for people to show their member id when entering the warehouse. Am I special? Today I was in a hurry to get something and sort of ignored her by flicking her off instead of showing my member ID just cause the angst has built up too much. Later on someone approached me saying he's the manager and ask me if I flicked off the gatekeeper or not. I complied and he orders me to leave the store on behalf of caling the security. Does Executive Members of Costco deserve to get kicked out of the store just because he or she flicked off some random ignorant jerk ### gatekeeper costco employee? Is Costco a US company that waived all bill of rights (including freedom of speech) for all of its customers? So that they can treat their customer like ###?

After thoughts
I find all other places have better customer support than costco so far. I haven't met any discomfort dealing with returns and miscellaneous interactions with employees of costco equivalent Wal-Mart, Target, Lucky's, R.I.P. K-Mart, you name it. Except maybe Fry's, but you know Indian people are pretty hard to deal with. But still not as horrid as Costco. My two cents after all these incident is: don't treat Costco employees as humans. They don't respect customers reflects that they don't repect their job. So why should us be throwing our respect toward them? Obviously this would make a logical connection with that they don't even have respect for themselves. Remember we learned in 5th grade that self esteem is the root of social ethics? I think Costco may seem to strive in business now but their ultimate fate leads to self destruction by a simple fact of lacking manners.

Here's an awesome experience that happened last night. I went to Costco and got some stuff, realized I forgot something went back. Finally, I filled up with gas there, so I spent a little money with them...I had a call and answered it and they were closed officially 5 minutes, to give you a time reference. What happened next, brace yourself, and I have reported this:
I had an Employee approach my vehicle and SCREAM at me that I had to leave right then, I said okay sorry just got done shopping and had a call. I apologized repeatedly and was trying to comply. She decided to keep circling my car, so I couldn't leave and verbally accosting me. I was really scared she was going to hurt me physically. Hind sight I wish I had gone ahead and dialed 9-1-1, but I was honestly scared of the woman and couldn't think of anything at the time but getting away from her before she could hurt me. She yelled at me for quite some time and kept me hostage in the Costco parking lot. Apparently this isn't a big deal to corporate. No one has called me back or acknowledged this even happened.
As an added tidbit: This is the same customer service person who screamed at my elderly mom who has a heart condition. My mom was trying to get her card made and was going the right way(following their procedure) to the membership desk. I was with her and walked her in with my card. I had to attend my mom until I knew she was okay. Even after reporting it to the manager, no one ever asked her if she was even alright.
One more Costco Story: A friend of the family, who is now a US Citizen from Germany was mistaken on their video camera in the store, same store, for a person who pulled off a robbery. They had him followed home and tried to arrest him.

@ J Kwok
Costco is most DEFINITELY not a good place to work. I went to an interview there and was told all sorts of glamorous things about how I'd get really good pay with good benefits and good coworkers. I can honestly say I found 1 person there I liked.

Day 1. At least 6 people came up to me and were like, "Oh they got you through the door? Oh I'm sorry... yeah this place sucks to work at."

At first I thought they were just disgruntled... but... they were right. I got awesome recommendations at my other sales jobs and was hoping to go there and make more money doing the same thing. So I get through the door... and they make me a bagger. I'm in college working as a bagger. Ok whatever, I was makeing $10/hour so I didn't complain.

I thought it was understood when I came through the door that I did not want a full time job that I had all sorts of plans and just wanted a part time schedule. I was told that wouldn't be a problem. Then I see the first three weeks on the board... "40 HOURS/week 7a-4p!" I walked over to the manager and spoke to him. He gave me an annoyed look and explained that I can either take the 40 hours or find another job... being the middle of June, fat chance I was going to find another temporary job. So I cancelled most of my plans including a nice vacation.

One day I got pulled aside because I was putting too many items in bags... well no one had explained to me that you were only supposed to use those bags for meat. I apologized and said I'd do that from now on. Things went from bad to worse. My two week probation was up and I started seeing job postings for other depts. up. So I applied for other positions. FINALLY they took me in for a sales position interview. The manager basically told me that usually they like to have someone up front for a few months first (Like bagging people's things is ANYTHING like sales). He then said they like to train them as a cashier as well. I politely told him that I had no interest in becoming a cashier, that's not what I applied for. So over the next few weeks I start seeing people brought in after me promoted ahead of me making more money. All my requests to move to one of the open positions were ignored.
One night at the early part of August I was sorting things into a carriage for a customer. The old hag looked at me and in a thick russian accent said, "What are you doing!? BAG EVERYTHING!" These bags are big enough to carry 1, maybe 2 items tops and she had a cart full of about $400 in stuff. I kindly tried to explain that the bags were only meant for meat and she got mad. The manager came over to see what was going on, gave me a mean look and then told me to bag everything. It took us 20 minutes to get everything into bags. At that point, I needed to go on break. I walked over, got a replacement, and then walked passed the manager going on break and said, "By the way, thanks for backing me up on your own rules!"
I went and sat down. Later that night when I was on my way out the door, the manager came up to me, grabbed my arm and was like, "You're behavior today has been completely unacceptable!"
I jolted my arm free, "Unacceptable? I have been slaving away here, watching one of my last summer vacations get sucked away. When I came through the doors, I was told that I was getting a good job with good pay, good people to work with and plenty of room to move around. Each one of those things I have crossed off my list as being false, and quite frankly, lying about the quality of work, to me, is what's unacceptable. Don't ever touch me again! My two weeks notice will be on your table tomorrow."
On my way to my car, a lady drove up next to me, "Excuse me, what time do you close?"
I politely told her 7pm. At this point, the witch started giving me a hard time, "Oh why do you guys close so early? BJs stays open late, that's not good customer service!"
At this point, I've had my total fill of rude customers and [censored] managers (which is what you can expect when applying for a job here.) So I turned to the lady, "Because we're not BJs! This is Costo, if because is that much better, why don't you f***ing go there?"
She drove off. I looked at the Costco building before I got in my car and decided I wasn't coming back. Since that day I have never and will never set foot in that or any other Costco. They will never get a penny of buisness from me.

Ever stop to think that maybe the reason the employees at Costco treat you without respect is because you are disrespectful to them.

I don't care how many times you shop at Costco, it's a Wholesale CLUB. You have to show your card to get in, and your receipt to get out. Go work retail for a couple of years and then be a [censor] about.

I actually work for Costco and I think Costco is a great place to work at. First off, I want to apologize on Costco's behave. I was a little shock reading your story. Costco employees get pay well and treated well. I do not believe that the door person's action is justify. I am actually a little upset and would like to know that person's name and and location of that Costco. You do, however, need to present your Costco Card in order to enter the building. It is one of the rules and we all need to follow. If that employee doesn't check people's Costco Card, the managment needs to know about it. As far as you flicking him off. We all know that you shouldn't do that, and have your Costco Card ready when entering the building. So the manager has the right to kick you out. I highly recommend that you send a complaint letter to the corporate office about what happened because this kind of behavior is not allow at Costco.

Costco poor customer service

POOR Customer Service. The check out cashier - Margarita was rude and unprofessional. After scanned my items, she asked me for receipts to double check to ensure if all items were charged. It was very insulting, she was questioning if items were loaded into cart without been charged. BAD Attitude, POOR Service. I have been shopping at this particular Costco since it was opened. This was the first time someone ever questioning me about not paying for such item. Besides, Costco always doubled check the purchase at the exit. This was an unacceptable behavior. She had no customer service skills and she should appreciate people still shopping at Costco so she could have a job. Customers are the reason you existed.

When complaint to

VERY DISAPPOINTED.. POOR SERVICE.

You are [censor]ed. She checked the receipts to make sure SHE scanned everything, because she didn't want to get in trouble if you got to the door with a door audit.

You also sound like you are incredibly rude, "she should appreciate people still shopping at Costco so she could have a job. Customers are the reason you existed." You are the reason every retail employee hates their job.

Agree. Stuart Lee is a FRAUD, beware buyer. I plan to talk to Cost Co since I believe they are an honorable organization and are not aware that this company is fruadulent. I believe that they may rebate some small percentage to point to "completed rebates" but make-up reasons to invalidate all the rest since they know that people are too busy to pursue these amounts. They claim it was not mailed in in 30 days but you are not allowed to send by certified mail to prove it, they say you cancelled when you didn't, they say they sent you the check but did not. They probably have not considered that retired people have both time and patience and a strong civic sense to expose predatory petty small time criminals

Google Stuart lee rebates you'll find their site. They "denied" my rebate claiming I disconnected my blackberry data service (but I never did) I have a strong feeling that they are a fraud. I suggest calling the better business bureau, Costco and your state atty general's fraud division.

Costco rude and unprofessional behavior

About two months ago while checking out at my local Costco store the cashier and his helper were having a discussion in Spanish while checking me out. I felt that this was rude and unprofessional and after I went home and stewed about it I decided to call their headquarters in Washington and complain as I am not only a member of Costco but a stockholder as well. They apologized and told me that this was against their policy and it would not happen again and I believed them. So for the months that followed I purposely stayed away from any cashiers that looked Hispanic as I did not want it to happen again since I enjoyed shopping at Costco and if it was happening I didn't want to know about it as long as it not happen to me again. So last week I went there to shop and looked for a line where the cashier did not look Hispanic. I was wrong. As soon as I was half way in line The cashier and helper were having a conversation in Spanish and acted like I didn't even exist. When I contacted the company via e-mail and told them I was considering ending my membership what happened next shocked the heck out of me. I recieved a letter from Costco with a check for my $50.00 membership fee and they cancelled my membership. They said in the letter " sorry our employees were unable to meet your satisfaction". Can you believe that a customer that spent more than $5000.00 at Costco so far this year would be thrown out rather than correcting an employee that was violating not only company policy but was rude and unprofessional in any business arena. This tells me how much Costco cares about keeping it's customers.

Okay, this comment is a little hard is respond... First off, if you are trying to avoid Hispanic employees. I think that's racist. Second, they canceled your membership because it sounded like that is what you wanted, and you got a FULL refund. Costco did exactly what they were suppose to do. Believe me, they wouldn't want you to leave, but if you tell them that you are considering ending the membership, they won't try to keep you. Afterall, they want you to be happy. The two employees were rude for ignoring you and speaking in Spanish and not including you in the conversation. But what you should've done was to speak to the manager that same day that happened. They would've done something about it. Sorry it didn't work out, but you have to look at the whole picture here. Costco has done nothing wrong. It is you who ended the relationship with Costco.

Costco rude behavior

I was shocked and very upset with the behavior of this Cashier named Farzana K. at Costco, Sunnyvale, when she insulted me in front of other customers. She called the manager and blocked our membership because I was using my Husband's membership card for the first time for the groceries. I never knew that you are not allowed to do that. But this lady not only lied that this is the second time she told me this but also insulted me by calling and warning me not to come to costco without my husband. Instead of saying it rudely in front of other customers she should have told me the rules and I would never have broken the rules. I never would go to costco again. It is very insulting and humiliating.

Costco Poor Product Quality/Customer Service

A couple weeks ago I ordered the Becker Storage Ottoman and just received it yesterday. When I opened the box I was shocked to find the poor quality of the project. The hinges and screws to open the top of the ottoman were broken and the product was not functional at all.

On my purchase order it clearly states "Membership: We will refund your membership fee in full at any time if you are dissatisfied." I called customer service numerous times and every representative denied this.

Thank you Costco for the lies.

Forget ordering from the website, you're much better off with Sams Club or Amazon.

Costco absurd monetary policy

Costco's whole business model is based on membership. You need to pay a fee to become a member, at which point you are allowed to make purchases at their stores. Sure, okay, fine. I understand that. What I do not understand is why they have a new absurd policy requiring that payment comes ONLY from the members.

Here's what happened: my parents are both Costco members; I am not. Despite this, I have come along with my parents on their trips to Costco in the past, and have made purchases using their membership. In other words, my parents wanted to use the fact that they had a Costco membership to be able to buy me things, but have me pay for them. We have gone several times where my parents simply show the cashier their membership card, and I pay for the items with my own checkbook, and we've done this without a hitch.

...until recently. The last time I went and tried to pay, the cashier refused to take my check because the name did not match with my parent's name on the membership. This was a little bit awkward and embarrassing, as my parents were both standing right there and the relation was obvious, yet the cashier refused to take my payment. My parents had not thought to bring their own checkbook that day either. I asked the clerk WHY it mattered what the name on the check was, but his only reply was that this was policy and he needed to abide by it. (That's not a reason why!)

I e-mailed their corporate customer service, but the only reply I received was this:
"I apologize that this happened. Costco's policy is that only members may purchase items."

The second sentence makes it clear that the apology is completely insincere. Since it seems Costco's true dedication is to uphold obstinate and useless policies and deter potential customers rather than caring about good customer service, I will not be considering a membership there and I would encourage you to similarly do your shopping elsewhere.

@J Kwok: Actually they wouldn't take debit from me either, even though it's as good as cash, like you said. I offered.

@Jay V: Your analogy doesn't make any sense. You can't compare products and services like they're the same thing. Gold's Gym is a service, and obviously only one person can use that per membership. With Costco, where you're buying products, you're going to get the products one way or the other. Like in my example, we did purchase those products; I just had to have my parents pay for them and then I paid them back afterwards. It was just annoying that they couldn't accept my payment on behalf of my parents directly.

That has always been the policy at Costco...they are now just enforcing it more because too many people have taken advantage of them...in regards to using others' membership cards and returning items!

Your Costco membership gives your the privledge of shopping at Costco. The benifit of that is you pay less, sometimes a whole lot less then other stores. It is true that the majority of Costcos' profit is from memberships. If Costco were to allow non-members to shop, then they have no need to offer memberships at all. Just raise the prices and be like everyone else. Larry B Kendall, FL

Costco is a membership outlet. The Member is the one who must write the check. Some cashiers will bend the rules but the policy is very clear you must be a member to shop their. So, you must be a member to write checks.

This has always been costco policy that the member has to make payment. It is in the handbook that is given to every new member. They may bring in 2 people with them, but purchases must be paid by the member. Otherwise people would abuse the policy, which I have witnessed, and bring in family and friends under 1 membership to shop, so they don't have to buy a membership of their own.

If the policy is members only, I don't see what the problem is. I'll bet if you purchased a membership that they would accept your payment.

Policy is policy, you want to shop there then you have rules to follow, just like everyone else. With that said, Costco does not accept your check has nothing to do with your relations with your parents. If your check bounced or fake, Costco has no way to track you down. For example, if someone pays 10, 000 dollars worth or stuff with a check who isn't a member, and the check is no good. Then Costco just lost 10, 000 dollars. Yet, Costco still has to pay its employees and bills. Which means they have to raise price on many things to make up the loss. They are doing this is protect themselves and their members. But if the member's pay bounced, they can block their account until they pay for the last transaction. You, as a non member, cannot pay with check or credit. But they will take debit or cash from you as they are both instant payment that cannot be a scam. I hope this clears things up a bit for you.

I think it's great that you pay for your parents' membership and their expense at Costco. But you still have to follow the rules.

P.S. - Costco makes 6 - 15% on all items they sell, except for tires and food from food court which they do not make any money at all. That 6 - 15% is used to pay bills and such. If they want to stay in business, then it is important for them to make sure everyone is following the policy. Costco is sucessful because of that reason.

Costco disrespect, rudeness and harassment

I went yo costco to buy supplies for my parents business. At the time my grandpa was diagnosed with cancer and my dad had to leave out-of-state, so i was in charge of the business. I went to Costco in Redwood City, the same one I have been going to since I was 5. i proceeded to the checkout line and handed them my moms Costco card. They rejected it and took it away, at that instant i immediately grab the card back from the supervisor. Next they sent out security named JULIO and then he GRABBED me and I shook him off and was heading towards the exit. While I was WALKING OUT of the store he starts to shouts comments about me and told me "COME BACK WITH YOUR HOMIES AND WE'LL SETTLE THIS." I was amazed on how they would disrespect me and embarrassed me when our family has been shopping at costco for more than 18 years. After that incident, my dad paid for a Costco business membership for me. The first time I went to costco to buy supplies, I started to feel funny inside the store, it felt like someone was watching me, my every move. I didn't go to Costco to steal or cause trouble, I went to costco to buy supplies. I was being followed in the store for no reason. When i left the store i turned around and saw the same security guard JULIO following me and i proceeded to git into my car, i pulled out and JULIO was apparently trying to hit my car with his fist! YES! he tried to PUNCH MY CAR! He stood in the middle of the parking lot yelling out profanities and racist comments about me! A week later my friend that works at Costco told me that they were watching me everytime I went into the store, "theres about 3 or 4 people watching you" he said. A few days later a had a certified letter from Costco refunding my dads money from the Costco membership. The letter stated that i was not allowed at any Costco in the U.S.? My parents had their family lawyer to intervene. He went to Costco In REDWOOD CITY CA and they didn't want to speak to him. I later found out JULIO was later fired a few months after my incident due to VIOLENCE to another customer wher he punched him in the face for no reason. My parents are giving me the business but I know that Costco has good prices but HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I called the Headquarters in the Northern District Mr. John Booth and he said "you owe an apology." APLOLOGY FOR WHAT? I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING EXCEPT TRY TO BRING BUSINESS TO COSTCO! I didn't go there to start trouble or steal anything. I am 22 years old and I think it offends people that a person my age has their own business. I've been going there for years until they started to treat me disrespectfully! I'm never going back to Costco and i tell people not to shop there and I'm speculating about starting an non-profit organization against Costco Corp. PACC (PEOPLE AGAINST COSTCO CORPORATION) I'M NEVER LETTING COSTCO TOUCH MY MONEY AGAIN. THEY ARE NOT PROFESSIONAL BECAUSE THERE NOT RETURNING MY CALLS AND I HAVE WRITTEN A FEW LETTERS BUT NO ANSWER.

Costco baaaad customer service!

To improve on their customer service at Richmond, CA #482. Sunday 09/13/09 I purchased a Cinemark Tickets. I waited in line at customer service pick-up, I was the only person in line. This lady name "Jane" (white female, in her late 60's, orange hair) whose was standing right in front me doing something in the counter right next to pick-up area. There was another counter by the pick-up area are couple of staffs doing nothing just standing. Didn't even had the courtesy to ask if I need something or am I being help. My husband went to restroom while me waiting for somebody to help me, after 10minutes of waiting my husband got back from restroom asking me if somebody help me. I said no, I am still waiting. Finally "Jane" overheard me talking to my husband complaining I am still not being help, she looked at me and said do you have a pick-up?, of course I was a bit agitated when I responded to her due to the fact that she already saw me and still pretending she did not see me. She gave me an attitude (inappropriate gesture) with her eyes rolled up and said "Well I am only asking! I was stunned in awe asking myself why is this lady misbehaving! Where is the courtesy and good customer service! I was really hyped up and started yelling at her saying I pay my annual dues. Me and my family comes her every week and spend a lot of money at least $250-300 dollars and this is the crap service that I get! Unbelievable! I am sorry but you are one rude old lady, as much as I respect elder people, I have no respect with people who are rude to me. She was just smiling with smirk. When I saw that reaction, my blood pressure went up and called her stupid lady! The staff reacted to me like you have no right calling her that! This guy Alexander saying that's enough! Salamat po!(sounded like he was mocking my dialect in Filipino). I reacted more due to the fact that she didn't even apologize. Alexander came to and said "I am only going to ask you once to lower down your voice and stop yelling. My husband said you guys didn't even apologized and you reacted to my wife instead of knowing what is the root of this, I wouldn't reacted this bad, if this lady (Jane) was nice to me. If she only let me know that "mam somebody will be with you shortly" or "as soon as I am done with this I will be with you shortly" then, at least I know that I am not ignored, that I will feel valued as a customer" but instead they treated you like a crap, like I'm supposed to be lucky because I go to their store. I have complained so, many times on that store but I don't see any improvements at all with their customer service. Even if you complained to the store manager, you will still feel ignored. The manager won't even listen to you, the gesture like is I have no time for this drama, don't you have better things to do?, I worked so hard for my money and I want to be treated like a valued customer if I go to your store. Why is it that they are the only store who has a very bad customer service? In other locations like San Leandro #118, Santa Clara, even in Monterey CA, or Las Vegas, I am satisfied with their customer service. I wouldn't be surprise if the customers stopped going to their store due to very poor in good customer service. I could have gone to other store, who is less stress because it's more personal and plus I don't have to spend that much money and I know that I will be taken good care off. I can go on and on with all the bad customer service that I experienced or observed in this store. I hope some higher authority of Costco will do something about this. Give your staff an annual training about good customer service, how to handle an irate customer. Once a year remind them how to value their customers, how to handle a situation like that. Customer won't be misbehaving if we are treated nicely!

Well, I wasn't there so I couldn't see the whole situation. But it sounded like you are over reacting a bit. Yes, they should've approached you and see if you needed help... But at the same time, they probably thought that you were waiting on someone and didn't realize you needed a pickup item. She approached you after overhearing you complaint to your husband. She asked you a simple question. It may be very obvious. But you shouldn't have loose your temper. Your expectation is way too high. I am sorry, but while it is easy to blame on others, sometimes you have to look at yourself first. If you were a little nicer to the lady, everything would've gone much smoother. Or if you waited for a couple minutes, and there are two people standing there doing there, you can ask them for help instead of playing the waiting game and see how long you can hold your temper. You have no idea how diffcult how Costco members can be. In fact, about 80% of them are rude and unreasonable. So not everyday, everyone is at the warehouse is in a good mood. You just have to be the bigger person by being nice and put a smile on your face, I promise you that you will get treated a lot better (even if not on the same day).

Hi there, so I hope you will forever beyond this point and on learn that Costco's "GOOD" employement system is build on giving rights to employee to harrass naive and loyal customers. Read up my experience here: Costco — bad customer server chronical!

Hope you'll feel better.

Best Wishes,

PS: And if you ever came down to San Jose area, I suggest you NEVER go to the Lawrence + Kifer Costco.

Costco bad customer service

As a Costco member for many years, my shopping experience is always satisfying until today. I went to your warehouse at 5900 Rodeo Drive, Mississauga for a refund. M family and I lined up for about 20 minutes and when an associate was just available for us, another associate named Reem, brang and lady right in front of us. She told us that this lady was in the wrong line so she should be next. We were extremely upset and told the associate who was going to serve us we should be next. Reem was beside the associate and asked us what was wrong. I told her she shouldn't have suddenly placed another person right in front of us in line since everyone has to wait for a long time. She told us that the customer had waited for a couple of hours in a very rude way. We told her we were a customer too and she should treat us nicely. Then she snatched her name tag off her shirt and threw it to us. As a customer, should Costco's customer service treat us with that much disrespect?!

One of our goals is to take care of our members and as i understand that's what they were trying to do with that member who was waiting for a long time. However, you should have been approached and it should ahve been explained to you the reason why they were going to take care of that member before they took care of you and im sure you would understand.
Now, she went agaisnt all that Costco stands for when the name tag was throwned at you. A manager should have been called and made aware of what just happened. We apologize for the rudness and disrespect.

Costco - warranty on battery

My neighbor purchased a battery for my car for me at a time when I could not drive the car to purchase it myself. He had a Costco card, which he used. I have also had a Costco card for the last 22 years. A cell went dead in that battery two nights ago. AAA said I needed to replace the battery immediately. I drove directly to Costco and was ready to have...

Costco no cust. service

My 81 year old mother has been a loyal Costco customer for many years. She bragged about the superior service at the Henderson -Marks (las vegas)Nevada location. She had not been there in almost a year and wanted to take me there. Several days ago I agreed to accompany her.

We completed our shopping and waited for the clerk to ring up our items. I didn't notice the majority of the staff was almost entirely Latino until later. The clerk told my mother she was moving too slow to pay her. She stated other people were waiting. I was very offended since my mother was trying to move as fast as she could and started trembling. The clerk next to her said "..you know how they are". (we are African-American) I wanted to make a nasty retort but reframed out of respect to my mother.

We were followed to the Exit door by a scowling female. At the exit door the clerk look at the scowling female and back at us. She became very aggressive and agitated. " Where is your receipt!" You can't leave the store without your receipt! The other customers began to stare at us. I said "my mother is trying to give it to you but now I want to see a manager!"

The manager came and we stated what occured. My mother told him she had never been treated so badly at a Costco store. The manager who was also Latino was patronizing and treated us like we were the instigators. My mother was very upset and shaken by the entire incident and had to take additional insulin to bring her system back to normal. Shame on the COSTCO Marks location in Henderson Nevada. La Raza is alive and well at Costco!

Costco warehouse pricing is always the rave. Anyone you talk to will swear by it; the best value for your money (most items, if you're not looking to compare in-store brands). Now, if only their staff, especially those at the check out counters were to offer you the best service for your membership money, it'll be perfect.

Costco sell things in bulk, hence they are either heavy or bulky. Yet they forget that not everyone's pantry or freezer is a short walk from the garage or the driveway. Costco personnel have, time and time again, been unable to provide bags (or boxes) for your purchases. Check out personnel conveniently pile unbagged/unboxed merchandise in carts. Too lazy to find boxes? YES! Compared to regular supermarkets, I find these individuals lacking in courtesy and right out customer service manners one expects from this so called "members only" store.

Carlos, I don't think you've ever worked retail before. Elderly people are the WORST when it comes to being respectful. They think because they are elders they don't have to be respectful to younger people. I worked the door at Costco once and asked an older lady for her membership "Do you have a membership, ma'am?". Her response after stopping and swinging around rudely, with a distinct arrogance in her voice "I'm just looking around to see if I want a membership at Costco or BJ's. I need a membership to just look around?" Thing is, this lady had been through my line before, and dropped the same "Fine, I'll just stop at BJ's [censor]." When I told her that the membership desk might give her a day pass, but that you do need a membership to shop as Costco is a warehouse club. She stormed off muttering that I has "some nerve."

Sorry to hear that. I wasn't there so I can't comment on this. But if what you said was true about the cashier, then he needs to get pulled to the office and have a chat. Again, I wasn't there, so I don't know. You or your mother might have done something to trigger it? I don't know. But that kind of behavior is still not allow at Costco. I don't know if I believe your story about the door person. I think you were upset about the checkout experience and started to think everyone was trying to push you around or whatever. Please send a complaint to the corporate office, that will be the most effective way to fix problems like this.

I was debating the idea of joining Costco, there is one in my city, but after reading this story, I think I will keep going to the local supermarket. Anyone showing an elderly person disrespect, should be FIRED on the spot. If I was your mother, I would NEVER step foot back in that business again.

Costco bad rude cashier

I had a bad experience at your store Tuesday July 28 2009 8:25pm, Lincoln Park location (2746 N Clybourn ave 60614 WHS #380). Involving:

register 8 cashier Stephanie (rude, unprofessional, loud, insulting)
cashier at register 7 (bad attitude)

I stood in line at register 7 for 5 minutes. When it was my turn to be helped the cashier told me she was closed (She should have told me that 5 minutes ago). Then she proceeded to get loud and say, her closed sign was up, no, no, no I'm closed (I didn't see her closed sign).

Register 8 had just opened so I asked both cashiers which one will help me? That's when both cashiers started arguing with each other. Register 7 started yelling at Stephanie saying she was closed. Stephanie started yelling back at cashier 7 saying, she had a long line of other people she was going to check out.

That's when I asked Stephanie to check me out because I had already been waiting. Then Stephanie started yelling at me, telling me to get at the end of the line. That's when I said to Stephanie, "I'll just leave". Then Stephanie told me, I was crazy (she said that loud enough for everyone to hear--I felt publicly humiliated).

If you are wondering why members are not renewing their memberships this is a prime example. Your cashiers rather argue and insult customers than assist them.

Cashier 7 and Stephanie on register 8 saved me about $500 dollars.
$50 to renew my membership
$50 in groceries
$400 new tires I was going to purchase the next day.

I am confident your competitors will appreciate my business.

I have/had seen most of the complaints written here. and totally agreed with the Asian woman customers. The costco stores have near my place have demonstrated the full racial profiling in treating their customers, especially asian/color customers. Humiliating and insulting like they don't serve to shop in Costco...

Something very uncomfortable to me at the Costco near my area. Even worse, about two ladies who prepared samples for customers sampling were so mean, completely ignored my friend and my questions, but very warmhearted to my friend's husband, who is Caucasian, btw, we are Asians.

I always wait a few minutes before telling a customer that I'm closed. Just pretend not to notice. Honestly stores should have lessons; lights on, no closed sign up and I am standing doing nothing... customer "are you opened?'. However lights off and signs up, and they put their groceries down...

After reading the complaint and the other posts that followed, I have this to say. The cashier should never have called them crazy under any circumstances. Which would be subject to disciplinary action. However, I don't believe that any employee of any Costco would do so without some provocation on the customer's (member's) part. Sounds like some of the altercation was purposely omitted.

Also, it is not the cashier's fault they did not see the sign, which is usually placed at the end of the conveyor belt on the end of the register and in very large Red letters (6 inches +). If they had been standing for 5 minutes, it would have been hard not to notice. As we can see they are in their own world and are inconsiderate of others.

If register 8 had just been opened, they are obligated to take the next person/and or people in line, who also had been previously waiting. It would have been considerate and understanding on the customer's part to admit they had not seen the sign and gone to the back of the line. These cashiers wait on a great number of customers and are entitled to go home to see their families or take a break when scheduled. If the complaintant is employed somewhere, I'm sure they would not appreciate someone showing up 5 min after they closed and were walking out to their car to go home a customer was insistent that they go back inside to wait on them.

P.S. The complainant who had indeed had admittedly and expired membership probably only saved $0.00, Tires and food probably cost more somewhere else, whereas comes the cost of the membership. They did save something though, they saved Costco the time and effort of dealing with a rude and narcissistic member.

Sounds like they had a bad day and I think you had the obligation to report them to the manager on duty. I love my local Costco in Puerto Vallarta and Beaverton OR. The last time I was there they let me slip in 15 min after closing to grab one item. I thought that was really thoughtful and understanding.

Costco not honoring warranty

Buying a pair of prescription sunglasses at the Costco optical at the end of July 2008, the first week of July 2009 the ear arm snapped, not from over abuse, not from twisting of any other abuse, just snapped right were the screws attached the arm. I had the glasses 11 months so I'll take them back to the Puyallup Costco were I had purchased them. When I brought them in and showed them to a optical sales clerk, the first thing she said is we don't carry parts, but would recommend a place to take them to get the part replaced at my cost, I said they were still under warrenty. she looked up my purchase date and sure enough it had only been 11 months, she then said that it not a defect because we haven't had any others like that and that I could purchase a new frame. At this time I was getting a litte frustrated with her and said you mean a 12 month warrenty is only good for 11 months, and please do show me were my glasses have been abused. She then said, let me take to my manager, she went over and they chatted in secret a little, and came back saying sorry we can't do anything for you but sell you a new frame. I said thanks for your GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE and I don't have to worry about renewing my membership and said I'll be talking to Jesse from King 5 news here in Seattle. No Further, but I'm not done. I will get that $4.00 part replaced one way or another

July 2013. Trying to return sunglasses at Costco optical is very difficult.
They intentionally ignore people, haggle and argue about their products. Don't expect an experience anything like the regular return desk. I was refunded... but only after waiting for an hour... dealing with multiple employees and finally asking for documentation of their reasoning.
The whole experience made me feel like they channeled Walmart just for me. They absolutely should not handle returns anywhere near the optical dept.

I just purchased a pair of eyeglasses in February of 2013. When I picked up my glasses and the clerk adjusted the arms she bent the arms so far back and they were a plastic lense. I believe it put stress on the arms and I folded my glasses last night they both fell off. I called and they said that I would have to replace the frame. I agree Costco should make the customer aware of no warrenty. But I also think it is the fault of the clerk whom adjusted my glasses iniatially. The manager was not very much help. Extremely disapointed. Since I am only working part time I have no recourse but to return there to order replacement frames.

Similar situation happened to me. I tried talking to the folks at the eye-wear shop at Costco and they said that they could not do anything for me. The manager said there is no warranty on eye frames. This is the third and last pair of glasses I ever buy from Costco. Bad customer service at the eye-wear section. If they are going to continue to do business like that they should make customers aware that there is no warranty eyeglasses, they are as-is; That is the reason why I am disappointed at Costco, because that information is not disclosed up front.

Costco service

I am writing this in regards to a disgusting experience my wife has experienced at Costco, today 7/20/09 approximately 3:30 pm at the Garden Grove, CA branch by the membership service personnel Jena (also known as Diana according to temporary membership she assigned)

My pregnant wife walked up to the membership service to acquire a coupon book. When she was asked to show the membership card, she provided the membership card that had no picture on it because we are new members to Costco. This is when Jena started to cause trouble to my wife harassing her as if she were an identity thief trying to steal a coupon book from Costco when clearly all she wanted to do was to shop at Costco. Even when she provided identification card and current address (because her ID had been made in her old address) Jena still treated my pregnant wife in troublesome fashion showing her lots of harsh attitude and ignorance. Just one of the example is when my wife walked up to the service desk Jena pointed her finger at my wife and with her disgruntling loud voice told her co-workers not to do hand her a coupon book or believe her information. She even suspended our membership and wrote that my wife “refused” to provide any information.

My wife and I are members of Costco, and irregardless of the photos or the lack-there-of, we do not deserve to be treated like liars and thieves when we shop at Costco. My wife, especially do not deserve to be treated this way because she has been an Costco international member since 1996.

I was being served terrible by the same supervisor twice at Costco Mountain View. The supervisor, a middle age, Mexican person with black eye brows and black short cut, works at Merchandise Pick Up sector. This afternoon. I purchased two digital cameras, and when I asked a cashier for separate receipts, the teller told me to talk to a supervisor. This supervisor looked very serious when I asked him how to get two separate receipts for each digital camera. The guy told me that because of the Costco system that does not allow to print multi-receipts, But if I were an Executive Member with an AMX card, I can get multi-receipts. This supervisor (I did not want to reveal his name) told me to go to return sector. This guy said, "Ask them (people who work at return sectioin) to give me a call, then I will let you go to the cashier and get your receipts." I returned two items, and because I am not an Executive Member. The second terrible experience occurred to me when I returned to Costco at Mountain View. Around 6:15pm, the door was closed. I asked a person who checks the receipt at the exit door if I could have a chance to enter. However, that terrible supervisor hurried to me, and said, "We're closed, OUT! " I replied, "I just wanted to pick up one item very quickly."It is fine that the Costco has its own policy, but this same supervisor's attitude was really horrible! "Out! Have a good day!" says the supervisor.

The Costco in Brandon, FL suffers from the same problem. We get different answers, saying they allow up to 3 separate receipts, and then the next time, they say, they allow 2. I've asked them to show me in fine print where it says Costco doesn't allow separate receipts but could not show me where. We're executive members - but feel like we're being treated like dirt. I hope other people complain. Some people just don't get it ---- there are financially responsible adults who like filing their receipts separately (groceries, electronics, baby stuff) and don't need the hassle. We do the same in Publix, Home Depot, you name it. -- Now if they upgrade their system to the point where it separates it automatically like they do in some retail stores, then no complaint. ... this is just too much hassle and a no brainer that Costco fails the customer service exam.

Costco manager, cashier, security. push cart

Today July 20, 2009. I enter Costco the worker was looking at me like I can't own Costco card because I’m a teenager. (The Entrance lady was the same person that was giving me attitude when I leaving Costco few month back because she was talking to her co-worker wasn't even paying attention to her job so I kept pushing my cart out all the sudden she YELL at me, telling me to come back because she didn't check my cart with the receipt. Then we had agurement in front of Costco so the manager came out trying to talk everything out. We told the manager she was talking to the co-worker wasn't paying attention. So we just walk away she was yelling at us we was yelling back at her. She was so rude). Then Today I was follow all around the store by manager and security because they were accused for stealing? I even wave at the manager and the security. They wave back. After I paid for my chicken, bread and car towels. The cashier was yelling at the co-worker saying " WHY YOU YELLING AT ME FOR ! I just look at her she just turning her head. I left costco the manager and the security came out hiding behind the pole either manager/security called one of the co-worker (loader?) follow me to my car copying down my license plate. I don't know what's their problem? It's the worst costco i ever been too. racist manager and security. I will never go there ever again.

PLEASE provide the person's name and location of the Costco you were at. Those are the information Costco needs before they can fix the problem. I would also recommend you to either send a complaint to the corporate office or put a complaint in the "Suggestion box" at that Costco you were at. Again, remember they need a name... SOrry, you had a bad experience. Hopefully, that will change soon.

And is the manager a fat chubby mexican looking dude with a name tag says "Jose"? Anyways, nice to know there are many of us out there. We just need to voice our oppinions. Costco Horrible customer service and treatment at tire department

I will no longer buy tires from the Costco Tire department. I have been a loyal customer of Costco for many, many years but the service at the tire department is just horrible, especially at the Glendale, Ca location. Recently I purchased a set of tires because my front tires needed to be replaced. The Costco employee helping me told me that my rear tires had to be moved to the front and the new set would have to be put in the rear. My old rear tires are mismatched so I wanted them to stay in the rear and have my new tires in the front. The employee said that would not be possible because of their policy, but that after driving 5, 000 miles or more, I could come in for a free rotation at which time my new tires would be moved to the front and the front tires would be moved to the rear. Well I went back to Costco after driving around 7, 000 miles. As soon as I tried explaining why I was here to the employee, named Michael Lopez, he cut me off and told me to “show” him in a snappy tone. So I showed him and then explained to him why I was here one more time and he flat out said he would not rotate my tires. I asked him why not and he just kept on saying he could take my car to inspect the tires but that he would not rotate them. I told him that made no sense and then he started yelling at me and then told me “I’m done. I’m not talking to you anymore.” At this point I told Lopez to call the warehouse manager, named Bob Holden to which Lopez said he wasn’t here today. This explained why Lopez was walking around acting like he owned the place and speaking rudely to customers-his boss wasn’t there. Finally the store manager named Ryan arrived but as soon as he did, Lopez ran to him and pulled him away into the garage and spoke with him privately for 10 minutes, lying to him about when had happened. After the 10 minutes, I finally got to speak to Ryan but by then it was obvious that it was a lost cause. Either way, I told him what had really happened and he “encouraged” me file a complaint with the corporate office which I will do next. I have never been treated so badly as a customer. Even though Lopez won’t get into any real trouble, he was still scared apparently because when I returned after shopping to get his business card, he pretended to not have any left when I had seen a bunch of cards on the counter before. I also caught a glimpse of the store manager Ryan yelling at Lopez for his treatment of customers. I had heard about bad customer service at Costco tire departments, particularly this location in Glendale, Ca, but I didn’t think it could be this bad. Oh was I wrong. And after telling friends and family and coworkers about what happened, I got a few stories told to me about horrible treatment from Michael Lopez and the tire department. I will NEVER be a Costco tire customer again. Even Costco as a whole is debatable.

I been a Costco member since 1989 and first time bought tires from the Richmond store in CA. on 7/3/22

Happy with the price, paid drove out heading home the TPMS warning light came on which tells me one of the tires is under inflated. When I got home I check tire pressure on all 5 tires ( including spare) they were within specs 32-33 psi. So i thought I will drive it next day and see. The next day same thing TPMS light did not go away so I call them and they tell me to come in for a quick scan on 7/5/22, they found the left front wheel TPMS was faulty was told needs replacing, so I made appointment for 717/22 11am to replace it.

After waiting 1.5 hours they tell me it needs TPMS sensor @ $60, I agreed , after they installed the new sensor 45mins later they told me they can't reset the TPMS light cos they don't have the right tools and for me to go to a dealer. I said ok and for them to put old sensor back. After they finished and I ready to reverse out of the parking lot, I notice 2 other warning lights came on as well ( VSC and LSD skid) now I have 3 warning lights on. I went back inside to tell them about it but they don't want to admit they might have shorted the circuit somehow. So they gave me a complaint form to fill so they can pass the complaint to their insurance dept. Next day their insurance called and ask what happen I told them the same story, she said she will get back to me. Next day she called and said they only have equipment for tires only. so they can't do anything but for me to take to the dealer.

I am very disappointed, first, the won't admit they messed up my car, secondly, if they don't have the proper equipment and training. Now I will have to spend more money to fix their wrong doing. I will go to 7 on your side the BAR and consumers complaint and finally to my lawyer when I get the full report from dealer.

I will never buy tires from Costco again ever ! Shame on you Costco !

I purchased a set of All terrain tires for my 1998 Chevy Suburban at the Pyramid Highway Costco in Reno NV. Before even getting to the Highway a wheel weights fell off. The manager had the crew redo all the wheel balancing. In retaliation for catching their bad work they did not torque the lug nuts on the front right wheel. Three lug nut studs stripped out requiring the lug nuts to need to be cut off to remove the wheel. The wheel hub was ruined along with the 8 studs and lug nuts. Costco's so called expert blamed it on rust and metal fatigue and everything else except their employee not torquing the lug nuts. I am glad the wheel did not fall off at some point and kill my family. And I will never be buying anything ever again from Costco.

I'm member from Costco since 2007, when this store located in Norwalk CT. Start’s business in this town, I was very satisfied with the variety of goods and other products for home. I also buy my tires in Costco (I got 4 vehicles), but unfortunally lately, the tire service is a mess, since this take a long time to do a simple service as tire rotation, I been 3 times (every time I've been wasting 2 hours), at the service place, waiting for my car and always has been something wrong, and the service crew do not accomplish with the service, because they said that my wheels need some kind of center ring to adjust the wheels to my car, which I do not understand, since that the place where I bought this wheels toll me that this kind of wheels don't need that part since they are customized, for my Toyota Camry 2004. But Costco people insist in that matter. So I decided do not bring my car and none of my cars any more to Costco for tires since in my opinion this is a bad service. In top of that the last time that I brought my car to the same service, I got a nice size dent in the front passenger door, and Costco do not take responsibility about that, so for me is very frustrated the fact that is the third time that I bring my car to the same service, that always for one or other reason has been never done and now I have to pay to fix the dent in the door of my car. Is ridiculous what happen now with this customer service, when you asking what is going on, there is no answer; the solution for everything is "sorry we cannot help you with that, we don't know who bust you door", “sorry we do not how this happen”. To me this is not customer satisfaction, since there is not a satisfactory service or care for customers, I decided that is the last time that I buy tires in Costco, I know maybe this big company do not care about that, but at least I rather pay for those service to other people that care about me.

I will never buy tires from Costco again. They sell you the tires but will find any reason not to rotate or balance or fix the tires. After you wait 2 to 3 hours, they call you to tell you to tell you the reason as to why they could not service your tire. One time they could not rotate the tires because the front tires were under their thread limit. Another time, they did not rotate the tires because although the tire had enough thread but it was 7 years old. This repetitive behavior from different individuals seems to be the store policy.

Yesterday, I brought my car in because there was a nail in the tire. I asked them to fix the tire and balance all 4 tires. After a while, the attendant called me to tell me that the nail was toward the edge of the tire and that it cannot be fixed, either I have to purchase a new tire or he can put the spare on for me. I told him that this tire has only 5000 mile on it, it is under warrantee, I purchased 4 tires 6 years ago to get the $70 rebate but this tire was installed on the car last year. After arguing and complaining to the manager, finally they agreed to replace it.

I used to go to costco where the prices were cheaper and the customer service was superior. Now, The prices are more expensive than other stores, you have to wait 2 to 3 hours for service and the service sucks. Shop around, you will find the same prices if not better with better service.

I've been a loyal and happy COSTCO customer for many years. I seek out COSTCO warehouses no matter where I travel in the United States or otherwise. I've always been extremely happy with COSTCO service philosophy, products, and positive treatment of customers and their employees.
Today, I was complete aghast at what I witnessed at COSTCO, 10925 Baltimore Avenue, Beltsville, MD. It is raining extrememly hard here today and this particular over-the-top busy warehouse was comsumed with such an overbundance of patrons, I could not find a parking space even at the back of the building. Lines were long but everything seemed good. The warehouse was wall-to-wall people.
I stopped by the food court to buy a piece of pizza for my nephew and a diet coke for me and didn't mind standing in a very long line and allowing the understaffed concession personnel (no more than 4 staff) to do the best they could making what seemed like a mountain of pizzas to go and wait on customers. I don't think I've ever seen so many people ordering and waiting for pizzas. After I paid for my pizza I patiently waited for it to come out of the oven. As I waited, I watched a nicely dressed man in about his 30s approach one of the concession workers who was frantically cutting pizzas, boxing them and trying to do the best she could to keep up with the large number of people waiting.
The man said to the woman in a very abrasive and disrespectful voice, "D-I-D Y-O-U M-A-K-E T-H-E P-I-Z-Z-A?" The concession woman seemed very embarrased but continued to work because she had a mountain of people waiting. The man relentlessly berated this woman even though he could see how crazy busy she and her co-workers were. He seemed to only care about himself. She quietly told the man she'd make the pizza now if he'd like but he shot daggers at her with his eyes and continued to berate her with the above question again and again. Some people who were waiting patiently for their number to be called, yelled at the man to stop badgering this woman and let her do her work. One specific person yelled, "We are customers too and we're waiting." The man ignored them and continued his attack. Finally, another manager approached this man. told him he was needed in the cage, and the man reluctantly and slowly walked away. As he did, he stared angrily at the woman he had been berating. .
As the man turned around one more time, I was aghast to see he had a COSTCO badge on. I could not believe any COSTO employee would treat one of their co-workers in that manner and especially at a time when it was impossible for the four people working to keep up witht he volume of food being ordered. As he walked away the hard working staff at the Food Court silently looked at one another and from my perspective seemed like someone just beat them up emotionally. But, they had a job to do and they continued doing it as best they could.
I was able to get a look at the badge of the COSTCO worker, and his name was Cecil. I followed Cecil and asked one of his co-workers what his title was. I found out Cecil was not only a COSTCO employee but, the Front End Manager. When I got home, I called COSTCO to verify. It was indeed COSTCO's Front End Manager, Cecil disrupting his employees during a major rush.
This experience has left me with a very sour taste in my mouth. The dark scene at COSTCO's Food Court was disgusting and embarrasing for all of us, employees and customers.
First and foremost, I will make a formal complaint about Cecil to as many Managers and Corporate Executives as I possibly can. I want to know how COSTCO will deal with the matter, and most important, I want to make sure the hard workers at the COSTCO Warehouse in Beltsville, MD, Food Court are complimented and not reprimended for their hard work.
Even if this particular employee or one of her co-workers forgot the particular pizza order in questions, this could have been worked out professionally, privately, and without any embarrassment or disruption to any and all concerned.
I will not return to the Beltsville Warehouse until I know Cecil has been repremanded and the hard working Food Court staff complimented on handling an almost impossible situation.
I believe when the founders of COSTCO, Jim Sinegal and Jeffrey Brotman, created and develped their corporate philosophy as well as goals and objectives, they did not want disrespectful and rude managers such as Cecil as part of their management team.
I sincerely hope COSTCO will recify this negative situation so loyal customers and COSTCO's hard working staff feel like they are part of the COSTCO mission for superior products, great service, and nurturing their employees not cutting them to shreads publically.
This was a very sad and sickening day for me at COSTCO. I sincerely hope this situation is handled properly and not swept under the rug.

1st. It is always best to have the new tires in the rear, it allows the rear of the car to maintain traction and helps prevent hydroplaning.

2nd. This person went 2, 000 miles past the recommendation for the rotation, on admittedly mismatched tires. [speculation]Mismatched tires, only 2 purchased and 2, 000 miles over recommended window for rotation. Who knows how the alignment was at that point. Seems pretty lax on the upkeep.[/speculation]

3rd. Would you go to a Cardiologist and tell him where to put the stint?

I'm sure Costco trains there employees and enforces strict guidelines.

(Wouldn't want to lose my job by trying to keep a lesser informed person happy.)

4th. What position did Lopez hold with Costco.

5th. Not one quoted word from the "private" Ryan/Michael conversation, only vehement assurance of deceit.

A lot of hearsay. I wouldn't believe this person for many reasons, the most of which are what he/she says happened out of his/her sight. If there were a disagreement, it was probably a safety issue that the tech was justified in defending his company about.
Next time, buy 4 tires and there won't be any issues. Mismatched tires are a hazard in themselves and asking a company to participate in your risky behavior is just stupid. You want to take those risks; rotate your own tires.
Costco has always given me good service. They are understaffed for their membership, but they do get the job done. Tires are a seasonal item that no tire shop can stay staffed full time for; a change in the weather can spur a surge in customers and people are usually impatient and don't plan to wait. When safety is the issue, I will be patient and wait for the job to be done right!

don't let one employee change you image about costco. it is a great company and there's no doubt about that. Unfortunatly there are good and bad employees like in every company. i'm sure Lopez received a disciplinary notice for his behavior.

Costco costco worst customer service - chantilly, va

I bought a jug of 2% reduced milk from Manassas, VA. After I drove back home to Chantiily, VA I found out half of the jug leaked in my trunk. I spent an hour under the hot summer sun to clean up everything. It still has a bad milky smeel. Then I had to go to the closest COSTCO at Chantilly, VA to ask the solution for their leaking product. First, I got yelled at at the front door, because I was going through the exit door which I thought was the one to go the custermor service, because they are directly connected. Both a guy and a women employees at the front door yelled at me like I'm trying to do something so badly. So I went quietly through the entrance door and went through the side door, and finally reached to customer service desk. I explained what happend and how much inconvenience it cost me due to their leaking mile to a representative (Irene). She looked at me and said "I could return this product and buy another one." She even didn't appologize to me for what happened to me because of their crappy product. I felt it was not acceptable and so I told her. Then another representative (Milly), who is a manager. The first thing she told me was "You are giveing her crap for something you bought from another store." I asked her, "first of all, isn't here a COSTCO store? Does it matter from which COSTCO store I purchase the product. Secondly, Irene shoud look at the situtaion itself and not where I bought the milk. She stood cold and asked me "what do you want?" She said they only thing she could do is to refund me the milk and give me a milk for free. I said that's fine, but also you need to appologize to me for your defective product, and nobody has done that yet since I walked in the door. It feels like killing her but she finally said "ok, I appologize to you for the milk." which she didn't sound like she truely meant it. Then I told her "you also need to appologize to me for the attitude that I received from here." She paused for a while, and said "ok I appologize to you for that too." I called the general membership phoneline and complained what happened. The guy on the line said he would forwarded to the warehouse in Chantilly, VA. I don't shop at COSTCO a lot before. Definitely I don't think I will go back there if they don't improve their customer service. I can spend money somewhere else being treated properly.

Leaky mild sucks but it's hard not to notice it before you get out of the store. It seems to me that Costco handled it fine by refunding you and giving you another milk for free. They will take back anything anyway, including food.

I think you are totally unjustified in your complaint. You come off as an angry, rude, obnoxious person and I hope I never run into you anywhere. Who hasn't had milk spill when they did not place it down properly? Who has not had to clean a mess in the hot sun? Forcing staff to apologize to you for your error and then expecting even more. This is petty, how would you react if you had a real problem? I hate to imagine. I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with someone such as you. Costco doesn't need you and is probably happy you don't go there anymore.

Oops someone already beat me to the spilled milk joke. Why should Irene apologize becaue of your carelessness. If the milk were leaking you would have noticed it at buying it. Instead you should thank her for allowing her to allow you to change it since in most cases they won't let you change food products especially if it has already left the store and was leaking to your carelessness. So for your carelessness you expect an apology. When you should be writing a thank you letter you write a complain letter. This just proves that some people complain over little things, and yes I will use the famous phrase some people cry over spilled milk. :D You should apologize to her for your attitude. She only apologized to you to get rid of you. Honestly some people need to grow up. If you were not acting like a spoiled ten year old perhaps they would have given you better attitude. Hope you drove home carefully and not in anger because of this.

Costco spout of new kirkland milk jug

My children had problems pouring milk from the gallon jugs when they were young, albeit they got the hang of it. We used to think this was cute as they learned. This new design that has been placed on our shelves, even an adult cannot pour with spilling milk everywhere. Kind of like a payback to the ones who laughed at the kids for pouring it all over themsleves. There is not one time that I have been able to pour without losing milk, so in my opinion the company saves money and it might be the Green way, however, in the long run the consumer is losing money by wasting milk everytime it is being poured. I believe this is a poor pour design, and I will call Costco and see how they plan on reimbursing me on the milk that is being wasted every time I use the product.

The jug's continue to pour inconsistent at best. Even when they do pour well we're always wiping the drip running down the front off. I got mad enough I built a solution: www.squarejug.com With the cap/pour spout integrated it doesn't spill or drip anymore.

I agree completely! I bought the new gallon yesterday and poured milk into my son's cereal bowl this morning. Milk flowed all down the sides of the container and then underneath all over my table. I tried a number of times, and created a mess each time. I poured a glass later, and found it was easier, simply by tilting the glass and not having to tilt the milk, but I should not have to do this! I will not be buying any more Costsco / Kirkland milk. What a joke!

Costco alli

My complaint is, I shopped in the Lantana/Florida Costco today. I wanted to buy the product, Alli starter pack. They only carry the refill pack. They have a coupon for the starter pack & the refill that was mailed to me. The reason I want the starter pack is it has all the important info and small packet for the daily dose that you can carry with you. Item #342063 & #531004 listed on the coupon.

This bothers me as well. They need to carry the Starter Pack because it is the only one that holds the information on usage. It also has a health guide, helpful information and a small "diary." To me, this is important. If someone goes out to buy the Alli Starter Pack, but all they see are the refills, they might end up just buying that and they could possibly use the drug wrong. That will lead to customer complaints and Costco could get into trouble with that later down the road.
