Convergent Outsourcing - Debt collection/ verizon wireless

I had used Verizon wireless virtual agent to close my account and move my phone # to a different provider by getting a pin #. I had been a good and faithful customer for years bur I have to find ways of reducing my debts due to disability. So when doing so, after receiving first PIN #, (needed 2), it (virtual agent) closed my account immediately, and then I...

Convergent Outsourcing Won't take equipment back but charging me

I have been trying to return my dish network equipment after I closed my account. I was homeless for a while and couldn't really get into my storage and pull everything out to get it so I called the company explained my situation and they said keep it and set up new account at new address I didn't want to do that. I asked how or where I can send it back to so I can get it off my credit and still nothing but trying to get me back with dish. I didn't owe money in bill just equipment fee so why not let me return it? It's the only thing on my credit and it's not fair . I've tried disputing it no luck I'm trying to figure out what else todo besides pay for something I'm trying to give back.

Desired outcome: Removed from credit report

Convergent Outsourcing Debt collection

Convergent contacted me about an outstanding debt I owed to TMobile. They offered me a reduced payment offer if paid right away. I accepted and made the payment.

Date and time of payment: 05/10/2023 12:42:39

I received an email today from T-Mobile thanking me for my payment and telling me that I still have a balance of $189.59.

If I accepted their offer of a lower payment, why do I still have a remaining balance?

Desired outcome: Mark account as paid in full.

Convergent Outsourcing Scam bill received 02-10-2023

Today, February 10, 2023, I received a scam bill from Convergent Outsourcing (www.payconvergenr.com). It stated that had an unpaid Verizon Wireless bill that “they were attempting to collect.” I sent an email to Verizon for this nonsense to be corrected by Verizon, as I never had a wireless telephone with Verizon. I look forward to a response from Verizon.

Desired outcome: Convergent Outsourcing needs to stopped and everyone associated with company must be arrested.

Received a bill or collection notice from them concerning an account I never heard of. I check my credit reports regularly and I didn't recall owing anyone $145.85. This was supposedly a 30 year debt! I received a notice in April 2022 for a 30 year old debt from a creditor I never heard of and for whom Convergent was acting as debt collector! $145.82...30 year old debt?

This is a scam.

Convergent Outsourcing Credit report/fraudulent debt

My husband checked his credit report recently. Imagine his surprise when he saw a derogatory remark against his credit. The culprit was convergent outsourcing it was placed on his report on 10/2021. It is for a T-Mobile bill which he is not a customer of. Has not been since 2014. It shows when he opened it and when he closed it in 2014. The kicker is the address for the bill is in IN. We reside in GA. Even more perplexing is the fact that he moved to FL in 2015 and was using a different carrier with the same number. He has had his number for years and still has it. This is crazy

Convergent Outsourcing is committing fraud on a grand scale.

Desired outcome: Take it off my husband's credit report. He did not reside at the address on the bill. He was a Florida resident at the supposed date of service.

Convergent Outsourcing Debt Collections

I received a letter from Convergent on Jan 21st 2022 for a debt that is 16 years old! Saying that i owe 6501.00. I've never never owed anyone that much money! When I saw who the original creditor is I got even more suspicious. It is with an old account that I have been scammed on at least 2 other times. HSBC. So I really suspicious that this might be a scam trying to get more money off this account .

Desired outcome: I would like this account with Convergent looked into if possible to see if it is in fact a scam.

Convergent Outsourcing CenturyLink

I received a letter from Convergent a year ago regarding a delinquent cable account in Las Vegas with CenturyLink. First of all, I have never lived in Nevada and secondly, I have never heard of CenturyLink much less have an account with them. I spoke with a rep at Convergent and they said I would have to take it with CenturyLink. I spoke with a rep at CenturyLink and we found that my info did not match and it was not me and that it would be reported to the collections and credit agencies. Fast forward to a year later, I received another from Convergent regarding the same delinquent account, went through the same process and now their info happens to match my info. I believe they updated their account a year ago when we compared information. I am looking to take legal action. These two companies are SCAMMERS.

Desired outcome: I want this account to be removed from my name and credit report

Convergent Outsourcing debt collection

I received a debt collection letter I believe to be fraudulent. It was addressed to a property I own as a rental house, but is not an official address for me now or ever in the past for any correspondence. The letter from Convergent Outsourcing states they are a debt collection agency and they are collecting $198.46 for a past due balance I owe to PayPal. I do not have any over due amounts with PayPal. I verified this with PayPal's collections department. The most suspicious thing about this letter is PayPal does not have and never had this particular address. The house is a rental property and the only place with records of this address is the Davidson County, TN property records. I am assuming this is where this company got this particular address.

Convergent Outsourcing identity theft

I have received a bill that is not mine. I called Convergent, and the address for this bill is not mine, so how did they get the bill to my present address? They say that the bill is connected to an address that I have never lived at, so now I have to fill out an affidavit from them, and file a police report regarding this. They asked me if I was willing to prosecute, and I told them "Of course, no problem"
So who is this company? Are they scamming me? 'what's going on?

@Me, Myself, and Mine: It is not your responsibility to do anything. Convergent.has the responsibility of proving that the debt is yours, NOT the other way around. They are making the claim, they have to be able to prove it. Ask yourself this, what would happen if they took this to court, as is? Can they prrove, with the information they have, that the debt is yours? Can you prove that it isn't? (Can you prove that you were not living at the address the bill was addressed to?) They've obviously found someone (you) with the same name, as the actual 'debtor' so, they start hounding you. NOT uncommon at all. One way to end this is to tell them to buzz off. Send them a letter stating that the 'debt' is not yours and you have absolutely no intention of paying for a debt that is not yours. Then state that they are to immediately cease-and-desist any further collection attempts on this 'alleged' debt. Type your name at the bottom. (Never add your signature to a letter to a debt collector because that signature can show up on forged documents to 'beef up' their claim). Send the letter certified with return receipt requested. Save a copy of the letter for yourself. That should be enough to get them off your back. You need to check your credit reports too. Chances are, they've put this 'debt' on them. The only way to fight a bad debt collector is to know your rights. Familiarize yourself with the FDCPA and the FCRA. These are the federal laws that outline your rights when it comes to debt collection (FDCPA) and Credit reporting (FCRA). Best of luck.

If you talked to them, why didn't you find out who and what they are? I would not do anything until I found out the answers to those and perhaps many other questions. Be wary of a scam.

Convergent Outsourcing Example of the unethical (Illegal) games played by debt collectors

I received a dunning letter from this company stating that I owe $700 to an electric company I've never done business with. I sent them a letter stating that I do not owe the bill and am disputing the entire 'debt'. I then asked for two pieces of information I know they don't have (because the debt isn't legitimate). I asked for proof that the debt is real (it's not). and proof that Convergent has the legal standing to demand a penny from me (they don't). These two pieces of information are the corner stones debt collectors must have in order to demand payment. I received a from letter back from them stating that they have verified the debt as being accurate (yeah right). They included, as their proof, a screen shot of their computer screen showing the information they have. No contract between me and this electric company, no old statements to me from this electric company, nothing that would actually prove that the 'account' ever even existed (because it never did exist). Nor did they send me proof of that the alleged account is in default (can't be in default if it doesn't exist). Nor did they send me proof of the amount they claim I owe (can't provide this proof when the account doesn't exist). Nor did they send me proof that they (Convergent) have the legal right to demand a penny from me (because they have no legal right to demand money from me). This means that they are trying to collect on a 'debt' knowing they have no proof to backup their claim. By sending me the garbage they did, knowing they have nothing viable to prove their claim, they broke federal law. The FDCPA to be exact. They are gambling on their (bad) assumption that I don't know my rights (or the law) and sent me the garbage they did, hoping that it will be enough to scare me into paying a 'debt' they know they can't legally validate. This tactic is also in direct violation of the FDCPA. I will be sending another letter to cease and desist. I'll comment on this complaint as I hear back from them (as I'm sure I will). Looking closer at the screen shot they sent me...it shows a beginning balance of $700 and balance due as $0...too funny!

1. Verify that your auto pay is still working properly...2. Send them a validation request asking them for proof that the debt is legitimate. Send it Certified Mail with return receipt requested. Type your name at the bottom. Do not sign it. This usually makes them go away if it's not a legit debt.

I am so appreciative of all the comments and complaints. It shows me I am not alone in this fight. I am working towards clearing my husbands issues with them. He has filed a police report. We are also going to be filing with the Georgia Attorneys General's office and the BBB. Plus may try to gather all in Georgia that has had this same issue for a major class action lawsuit.

When debt collectors ask you for an upfront payment especially over the phone, never give in to that. The best you can do is ask the name of the debt collector and obtain as much information as you can about their identity and then tell them to send you a letter of their claim so that everything will be put into writing and will serve as evidence against them.
