Consumer Portfolio Services Awful experience

I've been with CPS for 5 yrs and for the last 2 1/2 yrs they've been out of control! Cps calls and restricts their numbers and call so much that I literally have turn off my phone. Then they try to assume what type of person you are if you make a late payment(s) and say things like' you can't pay your bills on time or you need to act like a grown-up. There has been times when I've told Cps not send a payment thru my banking account and did it anyway. The reps call and question and give people information about my account that doesn't have access to the account. On another occasion CPS lied about what they told the person answering the phone. I advise CPS that I'm going to have the calls pulled to where they lied to me and my husband subopena for court they didn't have much to say. They are very harassing, condescending and lie about how much money is owed on you vehicle to get more money! Paula Robles that works in the Collection department refuse to give me the name of the president of the company and told me that's what she therefore to talk to her. Her employee Mikkel Aldophes made comments that was not true and lied to her supervisor Paula Robles.

When I signed paperwork I signed as a co-signer. They say I am the buyer. On one occassion a representative screams in my ear and hangs up on me. On 12/10/08 they called my house 3 times. Left a message that I have until noon the next day to make a payment. Then they call my landlord and tell my landlord that they better get to the house because the police...

Consumer Portfolio Services Harrassing Calls & Ripping Off

When I got laid off in April 08, I started to fall behind on payments, if I was one day late I was called and harrassed. I always made my payments and never let it get more then 1 month behind. I was unemployed till July 08 and single mother struggling just to make rent, utilities, daycare, food and expenses for Son on unemployment check. I still tried to make car payment but was harrassed daily and numerous times by CPS. They called family and friends and threatened them, asked them to make my payments or tried to get more information out of them but not stating who they were. In July 08 I was hired as PT employee with it becoming FT sometime in 09, so I took it because it was a little more money then unemployment but not much. I did Voluntary Repo and they said they would come get it, but continued to harass me, family, friends were now calling me at work on my work cell which I never provided that information to them. They said some pretty nasty things, belittle me and family ... still wouldn't come get car until I told them it was now uninsured, unregistered and sitting under tree and Hurricane was on the way. They threatened me in all kinds of ways from court, garnishing pay, taking assets. I always sent them extra money during Tax Refund trying to pay it down and off quicker and the amount I owed actually grew instead of decreasing. In Oct 08 I received Explanation of Calculation of Surplus or Deficiency, showing amount owed was about another 1k then what it was or should have been to my belief of what was owed after all payments made, amount sold for and stating I owed them around 2k so I looked at it as that isn't so bad when I next my Tax Refund for 08 in 09 I will call and try to settle with them, but in Nov 08 I received a letter saying that they have made several attempts to contact me which now was so FALSE not one phone call from anyone and I owed them around 5, 600. I called and tried to resolve the matter between the two letters and they claim that I do owe them 5, 600 not 2, 000. In all honestly everything they put me, my family, friends, even step daughter one time through, all the FTC rules they broke they should be paying me 5, 600 for the harassment, threats, embarassment, suffering and almost costing me my PT job! This company should not be in business from all the research I have done on them I am not the only one who has suffered this way!

I too have had the same exact problem with this company. I have come to the conclusion that this is a govt owned company. Because they break every law that can be broken and they are still in business, it leads me to believe that the govt set up this company to give the poorest of poor and those that struggle the most to pay their debts for whatever reason, a loan to get a car so they can continue to work. A person with a car is much more likely to be responsible then someone who doesn't have a car. If it wasn't a govt owned company there is no way they wouldn't have been sued. I would like to start a civil law suit. I would like to get everyone that has had any kind of bad experience with this company an opportunity to take part in this law suit. This company went into my daughters checking account a second month in a row, and took payment, even though they were told several times that they could only take one months payment. The lady then said to my daughter we will be taking next months payment as well. My daughter said no, they didn't have her permission to go in there any other time but the payment she was calling for. They went ahead and stole the money out of her account the next month without any kind of contact or permission. I too have suffered all the same phone harassment as well as having all my family members being told that they were coming to repo my car. Again, I will be shopping for an attorney and filing a class action law suit. If the govt is behind this, it needs to be exposed, if this is an American company doing business in America, then they need to abide by the laws in America and calling and threatening and stealing money from our accounts is not the way we do business in a law abiding country. Well I thought I was the only person who had these types of difficulties with this company! I have had a rep to call my job back to back 10 times. During the first two calls I explained to them that i was homeless with my two children and I could bearly feed them let alone pay my car payment, prior to then I paid my care payment on time. The rep went on to tell me how bad of a mother i was and I was "triflin", and that they were going to come and pick the car up! At this time i only owed them 160.00. I continuously received phone calls from them harassing me and any of my contacts. I then called back to request for an extension or to add the payment on to the end of my loan, I was told that was not possible! The company has to do there job, but this behavior is uncalled for!

Consumer Portfolio Services CPS in General

People have been complaining about this company since its induction into the auto loan industry. These people are rude, hateful, overbearing...need I go on. I called to get a pay off on my auto loan and the woman was a cu**.
When I traded my vehicle in, CPS was the first to step up and take the new loan, they gave me a descent interest rate. Instead of giving them my actual work number, I gave them my company cell phone number (one that I always carry) because I knew the economy was getting bad, this is the reason why I traded down. I knew that if I got behind on a payment then they couldn't call the upper management where I work and harrass the ### out of them! I recognize the number coming into both of my cell phones and I just don't answer now! They do call me 5, 6, 20394 times a day but I don't have a mail box full of messages from these as******! I called the car dealership that I deal with and told the Manager that if he ever attempted to put me with that sorry company again that I'd drive right through his showroom! I am trying to refinance with another bank or trade out, which ever happens first. I'd suggest we all get together and pick a day to call these people to let them know what we think of them. I don't mean call the customer service line because they don't care, I mean that we go further up the chain...to the CEO; flood his office with messages! then let them have back all the vehicles they financed. Let the financing world know that we won't take but so much of their crap! With the economy as bad as it is, now would be a great time to hit them where it WILL hurt! I don't know, just an idea!

Consumer Portfolio Services rude/harrasing phone calls

To whom it may concern, i took out an auto loan with consumer portfolio service but in last couple of months been having some problems with making the payments. anyhow i received a call from a supervisor of the company named philip, he listened to my problem for about a minute then he becme very rude telling me if i did not make a payment right know what he was going to do. I tried to be reasonable to him but he got worse and transferred me over to an even bigger ### named anthony/mr. campbell who proceeded to tell me that if i did not make a payment right now he was going repossed the car and that i needed to grow up. I was so mad i had to litterally bite tongue; when i tasted the blood i just hang up the phone and that was it for that day. they hae not called since!

Consumer Portfolio Service called on my job site and spoke to one of my Co-Manager and give them information about my status on my account and then called my Daughter and told her to inform me that they called on my job to let them know that when I come to work they is coming to get the car. Being only two payments behind does not call for this type of harassement.

CPS is calling all of my refernces, co-workers & friends saying that they are comingto repo my vechicle. They are rude, use profanity, hang up on you and lie. They have been doing this since Dec. 23, 08. I have 6 people that are writing out statements for me. Cps called my job on 01/15/2009 at app. 1:00 p.m claiming to be my cousin and that they were calling about the vechicle.

I received a call from this company for a third party that I don't know. I wrote down the number and deleted the message, thinking I will call them really quick and let them know I don't know this person and ask them to please not call anymore. I called in and politely told the man I don't know the person they are calling for and to please remove my number. He told me he would remove it but the account holder had called in from that number before and he knew I was lying. Of course upset by this, I said "excuse me?" He continued on to tell me that if I was going to have this attitude he will not remove my number at all and continue to call. I asked for his name, he refused, asked for his manager, he said he was the manager, I asked for the company name and he told me to call the account holder because he can tell me since he called from my house. I advised the man it was not a home phone it was a new cell phone number and I don't know the account holder. He continued to call me a liar and continued to talk over me then hung up on me. I called back trying to get a manager, so I didn't enter in the extension this time. The same man answered and without even saying hello said, Ma'am what do you want? I asked for a manager, he refused again and refused any information once again. I then had my friend who is an attorney call back, the same man answered, still wouldn't give any information and refused a manager and hung up. She called yet again from another line, finally got another employee and asked for the number not to be called again and they said it had already been taken care of an blocked from calls but said could not say who the call had come from since they just get call alphabetically, whatever that means. He was not apologetic and didn't seem to care. I had never heard of this company until today and I have never been so disgusted by the way I have been treated. I am a bill collector myself and if I ever talked to someone the way this man talked to me I would be fired in an instance, not to mention he just obviously had no respect for people whatsoever. I would never use this company and I'm so sorry for anyone that does, and good luck. I will be posting my dissatisfaction at all places possible.

Threatning to pick up my car, just made a payment two weeks ago, thirty days behind, they charge me 22% interest on a 10, 000$ loan, so far they have collected 8, 000$ of my money with only 1, 800$ going toward the principal.. My thing is, how can this be legally allowed in a so called democracy of high ethics? I just don't get it! They call my job, my family members, a constant insulting ways of communicating and always threatning with repossesion and law suites. Why has our goverment allowed these new white collard crimes to affect the innocent common people. Why!

I just told them to come and get the car because they have been adding $2, 000+ a year to the total owed on the car for the passed 3 years. The total owed was just over $17, 000 when I got the car. I've paid $12, 000 and still owe $11, 000 +, and THEY CAN SUCK MY add they are adding $5.72 aday more toward the pay off. No way in hell have i been late for the last 3 years paying. They are not crimes stupid. Try paying your bill on time and you wouldn't have to deal with it now would you? If your current on your account, they will not call or send out the repossession agent. As far as the interest rate goes, that is no ones fault but your own. Youi have a high interest rate because you cant pay any bills on time and you signed the contract agreeing to it. Attorney' will not take the case because there is not a case to be taken.

Consumer Portfolio Services Haressment

I just received a call from CPS. I was one & half payments late on my auto loan. The original call was from a driver coming to repo my 2006 KIA. Today I made the half payment until tomorrow where the full payment could be made. The driver called and stated that he would be late in picking up my car and wanted me to verify my address. I told him "no" as payment had been made. He contacted the rep for CPS. I explained to her that I had made the a payment. She told me she would put the pick-up on hold until noon tomorrow. The driver kept interuping our conversation with rude remarks. I told him to stay out of this. He replied, you ###ing smart mouth ###, learn to pay your bills on time. NO ONE should have to put up with this type of abuse. Something needs to be done about this company and their harassment.

I have received rude calls from them and let them go until they started calling my family and friends. I have been late before but this time I am a month late which is bad and I told them that I would be making a double payment so please stop calling family and friends they decided to get rude with me and others so I did the same. Whenever I have been late before I have always paid over what has been due the little girl that I spoke with in the beginning said, well I am not suppose to tell you this but you have x amount built up in your acct because you pay over then some man gets on the phone and trys to intimidate me when he realizes it doesn't work he hangs up on me I call right back and offer to give him directions to my home to come and get the car he hung up again imagine that

As many people that have posted on this page have the same feelings about CPS. Wow, I thought that I was the only one. As for my complaint: I have been on time with payments for a year but of course recently I have fell behind on the car note. December 2008 will be 3mtnhs if I don't get the money soon. The customer service is bad and I would not wish how they talk to me on anyone. I asked them why they talk so bad and I was told that they are not in the business of customer service. I feel that if you call someone that you are suppose to provide the best customer service. I wish I never would have got a car with them. I hate to see my phone ring at work because of course they call me several times a day but thank God I have caller ID and see that it is them. They call so much that I have to turn the volume down at work. Repossession is bad but I have two cars and CPS customer service sucks so they can have their car back. Yes, it will be on the credit report who wants that but who wants to jump at paying a note to someone who is very nasty. They should not be in business.

Reading through all these complaints I can say just about every one of them have happened to me so I won't go into too much detail about my experiences. Heck just read through these complaints is enough to know these people need to be stopped.
I told them to come get the car because I had run into some financial issues and couldn't afford the 560.00 a month payment any longer or the constant harrassing of me, my family, my work and even my neighbor. Finally after 4 months of constant harrassing and an attempt to process a payment on my closed bank account they finally came to get it.
I have hired an attorney and am filing bankruptcy. So last week when they called me I told them what I was doing and to leave me alone and call my attorney if they have anything to say, they (big surprise) didn't care and kept calling me and began calling my persdonal rferences again. Yesterday (7/21/2010) this Eddie guy called me...again...telling me we had to get this issue resolved. I told him I knew my attorney has been in contact with him and he is to leave me alone. He said to me "quit playing games with me [censor]" I hung up and immediatly contacted my attorney. My attorney called him right back and I guess it wasn't pretty since he told my attorneyhe knows he is actually a friend of mine posing as an attorney and began cussing at him. My attorney said for me to get a marine horn and every time they call blast it in the phone.
It is really bad when a company like this thinks they are able to ruin peoples lives and carry a such animosity towards people. No compassion for anyone. I got behind because my husband got really ill and the medical bills are killing us. The harrassing has made me sick and I can't eat or sleep as each day I don't know if I will get the call or someone else will get called again and told what a loser I am...it is just tooooo much when you realize the devil has set up a finance company in California and by just buying a car your selling your soul, and don't even know it until it is too late. Who else but the devil can get away with what they do? They have been practicing business like this for years and still continue...DEVIL

Just wanted to comment. I also have been dealing with this Unprofessional Unethical Company! They most definitely break State and Federal Laws... I have contacted an attorney and the problem is the company we are dealing with is a SUBPRIME AUTO LENDING FINANCE COMPANY... They PREY on those who have come out of BK or have had financial problems... They Capitalize on UnGODLY interest rates, taking advantage of your situation and the minute you are late they bring on the UNLAWFUL conduct from their Collection/Customor Service Personnel. In short you are dealing with LOAN SHARKS! I have been MOCKED and Laughed at while they take joy in upseting me... The Relentless, harrassing and unnecessary phone calls to my employer and contacts has been extremely stressful... Their Business and Unethical Conduct airs on the side of breaking the law... I was advised to first send a letter stating my position and asking them to Acknowledge and Adhere to the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act... It should be sent certified. I would also advise having an attorney who deals with companies such as this, for additional advice! Good Luck!

I agree 100% i 2 have a loan with this company and it is the biggest mistake the dealer has ever made on my behalf- like other consumers i am constantly harrassed at home and work- one time i was short on a payment of 74.13 and the rude rep told me it is in our policy to call you EVERYDAY until we recieve the payment cause we don't take partial payments-bull crap that is unheard of. I would LOVE to file a lawsuit. I was un-employed for 4 mths, and paying on a car we co-signed for a family member. We had to skip 3 mortgage payments o pay CPS after a year with no missed payments, we could not pay one payment, I informed them we would need to either surrender the car or have them arrange some type of extention for us. Then to extend by one week, they wanted a check or CC. We have neither. Now they say we cannot surrender the car, they can garnish our wages and make us keep the car, and now they are harassing every family member we have, including father in law who has terminal cancer. I want to sue this company as well. They are loan sharks. Feel free to contact me.

Someone needs to do something about CPS.The harrassing phone call and threats.They also call my job and my family members and tell them that i'm behind and that they are going to come and repo my car.They are very unprofessional in the way they handle themslf. Consumer Portfolio Services harrassing me with calls on my job,telling my boss and co-workers i owe money on my truck while i was off on medical leave.

calls on my job more than twice a day at work. while i was on medical leave, even after i notified them to let them know i will be on medical leave.they were still calling my job telling my boss i need to pay on my truck and before going on leave i fell behind on payments, due to me missing days off from work.They told my boss that they will come and get my truck. He got tired of them calling and told them this is a place of business and to stop calling there. this is a place where 750 veteran men lives and this was a DISTRATION.They had several numbers to contact me. Even if my phone got disconnected, they got someone elses number to call me. than they start telling my contact people how much i owe and so on. They also told them i need to pay on my truck.although i was behind i continued to make payments .

Consumer Portfolio Services car payment

this is a company that all they do is call for there payment no matter if you have it in the mail to them they start calling the very next day. in one day i have gotten over 30 calls. they are rude and they threaten all the time i had to leave my job 2 ours early because they called my mother in laws and told hee they had a tow truck circleing my road to my house to pick up the car.there have been times i have been late but this is so stupid im caught up but they keep saying i am one month behind someone needs to shut them down they are no good disrespectfull people and they need someone to go in and take care of there mouths for lying etc.

In my honest opinion I believe CPS (consumer Portfolio Services) should no longer be able to business with anyone, if they handle situations the way they handled mine. Due to the economy, in November of 2008 I knew I was not going to be able to make my whole payment. A week before it was due, I called CPS to ask for some kind of extension and explained to them my situation. They quickly told me that no one was in to answer that for me and to call back next week, so I did. When I called back the following week they were quick to tell me “There is nothing we can do for you, we will note the account and you have till the end of the month to make your payment”. Once my payment was late (even know I had a credit on my account for about 50.00 I pay extra every month), they were calling constantly, 3 to 4 times a day. Once Dec.08’s payment was coming near to being due, I decided that I no longer wanted to try and make the payments and was ready to do a Voluntary Repossession. When CPS called me one day, I didn’t answer the phone so they proceeded to call me at my job. My boss answered and they were rude and nasty to her. So she called CPS back to complain, when she got a so called manager he asked her to help them get the truck back, which wasn’t there at work. They told her details on my account, and I do think that was very unprofessional. Once I returned to the office, I answered a call from them and told them to come and get the truck, told them I was taking my tag off and was parking it in a Lowe’s parking lot. They said they would come get it, but they never did. They told me they would take me to court and garnish my wages and everything and that got me worried. They kept calling up until I told them I was filing for bankruptcy. Which in a sense should do but would of never thought of doing if it want for this truck, I cant afford for them to take more a month from me than my monthly payments are and not have the truck. They tried to repo it from me about 2 weeks ago but I wasn’t driving it that day at work. They never came to my home to get it, but did reposes it from my work a week ago.

These people, lie, are rude, ignorant, and very unprofessional. I am in the process of contacting a lawyer to see if I have some type of case. My states statue states they have to deal with this situation more peaceful and professional. If I would of know what type of people would have been loaning me money I would never got the truck. (Not an actual bank a group of investors)They harassed me& my employer. They embarrassed me as well. This company should never be allowed to do business with anyone and I think this company needs to learn how their business skills need to drastically improve. To be honest I have delt with debt collectors that are more professional, and some of those people can be rude.

Consumer Portfolio Services Unauthorized payments taken

I authorized a payment of 117.00 to be taken out of my account for my car note and they took out an unauthorized payment of 266.99 after telling me it went through for 117.00 and giving me a confirmation number.

This company is definitely a rip-off, the "customer service" representatives are extremely rude and I cannot believe that they can get away with the way the speak to people. I will definitely join in on a class action suit as they fraudulently took money from my account as well stating I told them they could - which I did not. I had to close my bank account and open a new one as a result. I'm emailing you NOW!

I too have had the same exact problem with this company. I have come to the conclusion that this is a govt owned company. Because they break every law that can be broken and they are still in business, it leads me to believe that the govt set up this company to give the poorest of poor and those that struggle the most to pay their debts for whatever reason, a loan to get a car so they can continue to work. A person with a car is much more likely to be responsible then someone who doesn't have a car. If it wasn't a govt owned company there is no way they wouldn't have been sued. I would like to start a civil law suit. I would like to get everyone that has had any kind of bad experience with this company an opportunity to take part in this law suit. My daughter said no, they didn't have her permission to go in there any other time but the payment she was calling for. They went ahead and stole the money out of her account the next month without any kind of contact or permission. I too have suffered all the same phone harassment as well as having all my family members being told that they were coming to repo my car. Again, I will be shopping for an attorney and filing a class action law suit. This company, CPS, refuses to accept my payments, and actually sent them back. Now, I have been reported to the credit bureaus as non payment on my loan. They have called my son's cell, which was never given to them, and to make matters worse, they called a friend of mine and even emailed her, never gave out her info either.
They are now threatening me with a detective telling me to either surrender the vehicle or pay the full balance, which is 22000 dollars.
Something needs to be done to this company. I have contacted the Federal Trade Commission, the BBB, and the Attorney General in CA for assistance. They even lied to the Attorney General's complaint form. They are a rip-off company and someone needs to get a class action suit going against them. I for one, want to see them fall, since they have harassed me, threatened me, cussed me out, and now bothering friends.
CPS also told me they would make sure I would never be able to get an other vehicle.
If anyone wants to start a suit against them, count me in. I know for a fact, they are not used at about 5 dealerships where I live because of their tactics to comsumers.
Let's get them, let's stop this company from ruining our credit any worse than it may be now.

Consumer Portfolio Services They are the worst!!!

I too have incurred the wrath of CPS. They told me that unless I set up a postdated check they will call everyday. They have been rude to my co-workers, talk like street thugs, and belittle and mock me. I have been reduced to tears more than once. They have called one of my best friends at her teaching job asking about my payments(humiliating) and have said things like "Please stop screaming at me, threatening me" when I am not even speaking at that moment. I call to make a payment and they continually hang up or we get "disconnected" and it will take like 20 minutes to complete a payment. They all have attitudes that would match a fighting dog. I hope something can be done because the anxiety from it all is intense.

DONT give these people your work phone number. I just switched jobs and will definitely not let them know abou it. I got behind on my payment (By a month due to being laid off) and they have been calling my parents 3000 miles away. WTF? Now my parents think Im a dead beat for not paying for my car. They say they are going to reposess it. Really? Just a month late? I've been hiding the car bcs im worried they reallywill take it. Does anyone know how far behind you have to be for them to take it? Also, has anyone ever had a car repossesed by them? What happens? Do they take you to court? I want to get rid of this ### car. It's about to break down anyways and is costing me like $500 a month. Total rip off. NOt to mention the interest rate.

I agree with you totally. They do the same thing to me. They call me constantly at work and at home. I do return their phone calls daily, only to be told they do not post date checks. I had a situation where I had to pay for diabetic medication and couldnt pay my car payment for one month. I have paid my car payment monthly since then only to be harrassed every month because I can not make a double payment to get current. They have reduced me to tears several times as well. I know what your talking about with the "dropped calls" I know they are hanging up on me and have done in more times then I care to count. As soon as I tell them my name/account number they hang up on me or say they have to transfer me and then we get disconnected! I call back to have the same thing done over and over. I call to make a payment and because I can do it the day they want it they refuse to take the payment. What is it? Do you want the payment or not? If you dont stop calling me and come get the dang car. I have told them several times to come and get the car, they always threaten they are going to do that but never do. Per the FDCPA we have told them numerous time to quit calling our place of employment phone and our cell phones, they refuse to do this and are breaking the law. They threaten me every month that my payments are not acceptable and they are going to get the car. I have told them numerous times to come and get it and here it sits. I feel im doing as well as most right now and doing the best I can, if one payment a month is not enough for you then come get the dang car and shut up!

They do the same to us. Change your Cell and home Phone, Screen your call. If anyone calls let them leave a message and return the calls that is important to you. Never give your job # when you are requesting credit. Give your cell phone # instead. These people are really terrible . I hate them the very name CPS. Make your payment on their website. You dont have to talk to them to hear their nasty mouth. Before I forget, they call from different numbers and places, that is why I told you to let your answering machine do the listening. Treat them with the silent treatment.

It's obvious that "Lisa" continues to post comments in defense of CPS. "Lisa" must understand that everyone including herself will experience some financial difficulties a few times especially with our current economic difficulties. I totally agree that this company has no business etiquette's. Their customer service reps are very rude and are only willing to take your call if you have a past due payment. I attempted to contact CPS for an entire week to discuss lowering the interest rate on the loan which in turn would lower my monthly payments. Each time I would call and enter my account info to speak with a rep, they'd pick up the line and hang up immediately. It took me 6 days to finally get a rep on the line. I ask the rep if there was anyone I could speak to in regards to lowering the interest rate on my car loan and he stated to me in a rude manner "we don't lower interest rates, read the fine print on your contract, you signed it didn't you." I was very surprised at his response given I was very polite and not to mention current on my loan. He also went on to say that they are a "second chance" lender so I just needed to pay my loan off. I 'm very annoyed given I was not asking to escape from paying my loan, I just wanted to lower the interest rate. This company will soon be out of business at the rate in which they are going. so many people will eventually default on their loans and file bankruptcy. I hate that I was so upside down on the two vehicles in which I traded in to obtain this one. I appreciate their assisting me at the time, however they need to know and understand that people loose jobs and experience other financial difficulties.

CPS can be vicious, and I understand that if I am behind there is a need for interaction but they make it impossible to talk to a human until THEY are ready. When you finally reach someone breathing and able to respond, be prepared to be berated and made to feel like a horrible person for having financial problems

If you payed your car note on time. That would not be a problem. dont you see how the market is at this time its because people like you that want to drive nice cars but cant keep there word, and make there car payment on time. I know stuff happens to good people. That why CPS gives loans to people that have got into some credit problems in the past. BUT people like you have credit problems in the past and now and in the future>BECAUSE YOU JUST DONT CARE. you'll file BK every 7 yrs and clear your debt. That why banks cant aford to give any loans out to people that REALY want to fix there credit not just get a FREE RIDE. ANY ONE AGREES WITH YOU ALSO ARE DELINQUENT ON THERE AUTO/BILLS

These people have done the same things to my wife and I. YES THEY ARE VIOLATING THE LAW! I NOTICED NO ONE POINTED OUT THAT WHEN THEY CALL YOUR WORK OR FAMILY MEMBERS, THEY LOVE TO PRETEND TO BE CPS (CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVISES) AND REFURE TO YOUR LOAN AS A "CASE" JUST YESTERDAY MY BROTHER CALLED ME TO TELL ME CPS WAS AFTER ME AND MY WIFE. THEY HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE AT MY WIFES WORK. THEY HAVE THREATEDEN TO SEND PEOPLE "OUT TO GET US!" THESE PEOPLE HAVE USED RUDE LAGUAGE, THREATS, AND INSULTS AGAINST ME AND MY WIFE. I am so sick of Consumer Portfolio and their constant phone calls to my job. I am a teacher and I am not allowed to take personal phone calls unless it is an emergency. They have called my job several times and give my personal information to the secretary. They told her that I had an overdue car loan and that they were coming up to my job and get the car. They have even called my Mom and told her the same! After you are not even a whole month behind, they start the harassing calls. Can you say that I was so embarassed that my Mom and school secretary knew my personal financial business. This is totally unprofessional. When I addressed them, they apologize but continue lay the blame on the repo companies that they contract. I will be glad when i am done with them!

Yes, CPS customer service people are very rude. They are nasty and don't care how they talk to people. My payment was 7 days late and they called me every day making threats. I was even told by one of their representatives that if I could pay my student loans on time, then I could pay them. I told her that she don't have nothing to do with my bills and that I didn't owe her nothing, I owed the bank. I only owe 10 months on my car and they have worried the hell out of my. I have told them not to call me anymore, but they still do. There ought to be a way we can take harassment charges out on them because that's just what they are doing.

I contact CPS to discuss my account due to change of employment
date for next payment will change from 7/28 to 8/1 representative J. Brown ext.2806 was very rude told me she could only extend to 7/31 I explained the funds would not be available until 8/1 rep goes on to say they would have to pick up vehical. By this time I was very upset and said do what you have to do-I then asked to speak with a manager or supervisor. Rep refused to let me speak with anyone else. So I hung up and called right back while I was holding my other line had clicked it was the rep from CPS she called me back to retaliate some words were said by Ms. Brown the CPS representative a threat was made not sure what kind by that time I hung the phone up again.
The point is that the rep called customer back with threat.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH CPS CALLING MY JOB HARASSING ME, CALLING THREATING ME AND THEY EVEN CALLED MY MOTHER POSING AS A INVESTIGATION WITH THE POLICE DEPT WITH THREATS WHICH UP SET HER SO BAD SHE HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL FROM IT. Consumer Portfolio Services Dirty business

In 2006 I purchased a vehicle from a reputable car dealer who found financing for me with Consumer Portfolio Services in Irvine, California. Little did I know that this would be the biggest mistake that I could have made. Within 2 months I suffered the loss of my father and was unable to work for several weeks. I called CPS to inform them of my situation and that I was able to make the interest payment on the loan. I was told that they do not accept "partial payment" on a loan. This sounded crazy to me, as I have done this before on a home loan, not to mention an auto loan with a different lender. To make a long story short, in 2007 I moved to another state. I registered my vehicle on July 05, 07 in the new state. And they gave me a copy of the letter to be sent to the lienholder (CPS) requesting that they send the title to them to be titled in the new state. Since then my vehicle tags have came due, I cannot register my vehicle in the state I live in, nor can I do anything about it because CPS refuses to send the title to the state to be printed with them as the lienholder. Since then I have stopped payment to CPS and the vehicle has been repossessed by my request as it is no good to me if I cannot register the vehicle. I'm sure CPS will try to sue me, my plan is to file a countersuit if they try to put the repossession on my credit report. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!

Look people do not get the tittle to a car until it has been paid in full. Thats for CPS AND any other bank.- YOU got a car and in the frist 2 months YOU STOP MAKING PAYMENTS! you are a very RESPONSABLE PRESON. come on did your dad make the payment for you ? no so do not use your dads death as excuse to not pay your bills. then you skip town with a car thats not your - remeber it not your car until you have paid it to the bank. They paid the dealer for you to drive of with it. i totally agree with all of the complaints. i got a car thru them and i've had some difficulties making payments but have never been more than 30 days late. when i first started making payments, i was told there was a grace period of about 10 days after the due date. later on i was told there is no grace period.

i was told by the dealer, once i paid on the car for a period of time, i could refinance the vehicle;only to be told by CPS that they don't refinance.

They also don't allow you to skip a payment (move the payment to the end of the loan) unless there's a death in the family although this too could have changed. This is a common feature with loans thru a bank or credit union.

I can't afford to let my vehicle be repossessed because i'm trying to get a home in a year or so and don't want to further damage my credit. i do my best to be on time so they'll have no reason to call me or my job (which they've done).. I'm also gonna do my best to pay them off early even though they've already gotten what the vehicles worth.

now theres a possibility that my company could be downsizing and i'm confident CPS would be less than sensitive to that situation.

Any advice in the event I lose my job?

Consumer Portfolio Services Daily Harrassment and Threats!

Harrassment and Threats Everyday sometimes more than 5 times, By 5 different people. Asking me where is my payment? "When it is not even the due date". They also ask me what condition the vehicle is in? then, the other Question is is it still Parked @ ---- ave, in anytown usa? Because we need to know where we can pick it up. "Do you want us, to Come take it from you? "I am physically and emotionally sick of this constant harrassment and threating tactics. This has got to stop! I really need the car, But not this Bad. I agree with all of you. CPS need to be stop. I found out that I was being over charged for my vehicle. CPS told me that I should have realized that before I signed the contract. I lost my job in July 2009, and I have been unemployed every since then. I keep telling them that I am unemployed, and I don't have any income. My unemployment ran in June 2011, They told me that they would have to come and get the vehicle. I try to continue to pay on the car by borrowing money from my kids, but that can only go so far, because they have their responsibilities too. I need someone to assist me in talking with CPS about reviewing my account for over payment. I was told that my balance was $19, 000 and later I learned that the car was $35, 000. What's up with that? This was a used 2006 Ford Taurus, with 14, 000 miles on it. I asked them to reevaluate the processing of my account and they wouldn't do it. Now, my last payment is in January, 2012 and they still are telling me that they were going to pick the car up if I don't make the payment. I bought this back in 2005. Please help. Brenda Osazuwa

I agree with almost every comment posted. CPS is the WORST finance company on earth. I am so glad that I finally paid my car off. I agree with "THIRD PARTY" they will call everyone on your reference list and tell them ALL of your business. They are so unprofessional. They leave detailed messages at you place of employment. And at the end of my loan I found that they even add charges . They say that they are "REVERSAL FEES" and no one that I talked to gave me the same answer as to what these additional charges were, but I was told that I wouldnot get my titles to my car until they were paid as well. Then when I paid that they called and was told that I still owed 60 cents interest on my loan. If you happen to use them because you have NO other choice make sure you watch you account history VERY closely! They are the WORST! You would be better off getting a car cash and carry!

I am writing to tell you how I have been harassed and bullied by CPS over the last three years. I have been contacted by them on my job indicating my vehicle would be repossessed almost weekly. I have been called at 2:00 a.m. and asked where my car was so they could come pick it up. I have contacted CPS on several occasions in writing and via phone calls and asked that they do not contact me again at work. My wife has also been harassed on her job by phone calls and emails four or five times a day. My family members have been contacted by CPS telling them we are behind on our car payments and are in danger of loosing our vehicle. They have contacted neighbors asking them to tell me that they are coming to repossess my vehicle. The neighbors that were contacted did not know my wife or me. We had just moved and had not had time to introduce ourselves. I can only assume that they looked up our address on the internet and found a neighbor’s address and phone number on line. We had no way of listing these people has a reference because we did not even know their names. This was shocking and humiliating. All of these acts were illegal and in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. The voice mail messages we have received from CPS have been threatening and unprofessional in content and we have recorded them all as well as recorded several phone calls from their employees telling us that we would go to jail and that we are white thrash. I pray that God does not allow someone else to be taken by crooks like CPS in the future.

We've NEVER been so harassed in our lives...CPS calls throughout the day and night threaten to come pick up our vehicle - due to late payments...The customer service department staff is the rudest people on the face of the earth... They even tried calling from an unknown number and the customer service reps call from their personal cell phones...This is ridiculous...They never want to work with you or make any helpful suggestions to assist you. I care not to deal with them ANYMORE...Therefore - I would like to join protest against CPS. My email is jeanettemykidz@gmail.com. A guy named Eddie keeps calling me with CPS threatening me. I am trying to pay them off and I could not make a payment today so he yells and gets angry saying that I need to transfer him to my payroll dept. Just a rude man. The guy I worked with was awesome and handled my case very well. EDDIE you suck big time man. I told you to stop calling my job.

I voluntarily gave back a vehicle that was sent to auction thru cps. I get calls from different states on my home phone and then I also recieve e mergency calls on my cell. Is there a law against this company sending emergency calls to my cell?

I agree with everyone's complaints about CPS. They have taken to calling my work (which I told them not to do on at least 3 separate occasions) as well as faxing my work. They are now calling my 15 year old daughter because they have her cell number somehow and leaving messages for her saying "Mommy's car is going to get taken and you won't have a way to school - how do you feel about that" I know I am late on occasions and that ultimately being late is my fault, but for them to threaten my child is disgusting.

Consumer Portfolio Services Unprofessional business tactics

These people have called me so many times at work daily and just today left me a message with the receptionist at my job saying to take my things out of the car because they are coming to get it. There is a law against releasing your personal information to others but then when I called them they told me that I have not been answering them so they will keep calling.

The supervisor I spoke with was just as rude as everyone else. I regret the day I ever signed up with these people for a car loan. They threaten to take the car and yell at you, then say you are having an attitude. Absolutely unprofessional!

I live in girard pa, my credit is about a 600 so i went to a local car lot [bob ferrando ford world] i traded my car in for 500.00 I spent 3 days filling out paperwork signed everything transfered my title and drove away in my 2005 ford escape.Well 8 weeks later and several calls from consumer portfolio and bob ferrando ford, also a383.00 payment made' bob ferrando ford called me and told me they want the vehicle back, and consumer portfolio kicked back the paperwork and wont finance due to a change of address problem.Well i got my old car back'''''''and a screw you from bob ferrando and consumer portfolio this company needs stopped and these desparate dealerships who sucker you in and dont care how your mentally hurt are just as guilty . STAY CLEAR OF CONSUMER PORTFOLIO SERVICES PLEASE.

These people are rentless! I regret the day I ever got a loan with them. I actully avoid speaking to them becuase they are so rude! They question what I do with my money. The lady actually asked me what do I do with all my money that my payment was late. These people are rude and nasty so are the supervisors. One lady was so nasty she actually had me crying. I had to write a nasty letter to the upper mangement to get any sort of response from these people that was not a nasty one. However that did not last long. I hate this company and cant wait until this freaking car is paid off 1 more year.

How about this, I got a loan in September and paid on time. I came into some money and I called the payoff phone number. I got the balance and went to the bank and got a cashier's check. I sent the check to the payoff address.
Then out of the blue I get a phone call. Not hello or how you doing but a very rude female which started the conversation with Why are you paying off your truck. I asked the person who they were and I got the CPS legal Department as a answer.

Then I was asked how i got the money to pay it off. I responded it really wasn't their business but i told them anyway. Then I asked, Why the legal department would contact me because I paid off the loan, of course I didnot recieve an answer.

then a few days later I get a call from some towing company telling me that they were going to repo my vehicle. I explained to the gentleman that it would be in the best interest of all the parties involed if he didn't pursue my vehicle.

I was then connected to the same lady that had called me before I believe her name was Connie this time she demanded a payment on the loan. I told her she should have already recieved a check from the bank and gave her the bank info etc. Then she called me a habital lair and a mother and yes I responed with my own feelings of her actions. I was threaten with being arrested for terroist threating and harrassment and they me.

And she told me she was contacting the local law enforcement. but if she had looked at my contract she would have known I am the local law enforcement authorty. So I called my lawyer and had her take over the resolution.

Now it gets better after my lawyer finished her phone conversation with Connie I got three phone calls in which they hung up on me in the presents of my lawyer and the persiding judge who just so happened to be in the room. then another call came and Connie told me on my speaker phone which I did record that ' I have done it now, having my lawyer call her that i better watch out because I was going to Get IT' . Good thing I had a room full of witnesses and lawyers oh and one State Senator who was extermly upset at the tactics.

Now later after my lawyer called back to request information and names and phone records oh and after my lawyer got off the phone with the US District Attorny's Office.

I did recieve a phone call from a lady that was pleasent and she wanted to see how we could mediate this problem. It's simple I paid you off, release the title and we are done. I will not be bullied.
