Columbia Gas of Ohio Gas

Haven’t received a bill for the month of April 2023. I call and find out that I’m scheduled to be shut off today! I call and inquire why I haven’t received a bill. On their end they sent one, on my end … nothing! Ok so had I not called then my gas would have been shut off without a notice. Not only did I not receive a monthly statement. I didn’t receive a disconnection notice from either. They want to blame the postal service but it’s just bad customer service. So now that I know, these ppl are incompetent as hell. I’ll just pay it every month at the same time as whether I get a bill or not and that’s sad

Columbia Gas of Ohio Replacing due to leakage near street, torn up yard and no notice?

I was woken up this morning by Columbia Gas tearing up my yard. I was NOT given any notice, I saw some flags outside and had to ask around to see if anyone knew what they were (about a month ago). No notice was sent to my house indicating what the issue was or what the process would be. I went out to speak with the VERY nice man working out there and he told me what was happening and what the process would be. Issues are: 1. my daughter works from home and her office is on that side of the house, it was very difficult for her to do her work. 2. The gas was turned off without notice. 3. How long have I been paying for a leak? It is nice that I am not being charged and that they will repair the damage to my yard, but I would very much like to know how long they have known I had a gas leak and have been paying for it.

Desired outcome: I think some compensation on my gas bill would be acceptable.

Columbia Gas of Ohio Columbia Gas Residential Gas Service

Turned off service with no notice and charged me a reconnect fee. Admitted they did not do their job and resulted in still have a reconnect fee and having to be at the house between 8 am and 11 PM at night.

I've been a customer 25 years and have never had an issue.

I have a bill pay service that received the bill. They indicated they were sent there but the bill pay service never received anything.

Then they had someone come out and turn off the service without any notice and I had to pay the bill and a reconnect fee. When I called and asked why this had happened and why I had gotten no notice, they fussed around and then sent me to a supervisor that said things had been sent and they didn't know why there were not received.

This has been in place 25 years and never failed and now it magically does.

Disgusting.

Desired outcome: Reimburse the disconnect fee and a $100 credit for the poor treatment, and loss of service until reconnect and give me an actual answer on why I never received any notice

Natural gas used to be affordable. Now they want to suck every last cent out of you. I try add be very frugal on how much gas I use and get emails from Columbia showing how I compare to other peoples usage and I’m always way lower but I still get a bill that is almost 50 dollars. I believe everyone gets charged a minimum even if we don’t use any gas. That’s crazy! So why does Columbia send me emails on how to save on gas? I guess I will be freezing this winter because once I start using gas to keep warm I’m going to pay on top of the basic fee. Seem like they found a way to steel middle class hard working peoples money.

Columbia Gas of Ohio Natural gas

Didn't receive a bill for three months then was hit with a 500 dallor bill. First it is the company's fault as they sent the bills to an address they we're not told to bill. Second in September we did not use any gas as it was warm enough that we did not need it and yet we are being billed for usage. This is not ok to penalize a customer for your mistakes. If this does not get resolved you will be hearing from my lawyer.

Desired outcome: Correct the billing address and rectify the bill immediately

Columbia Gas of Ohio delivery of natural gas/ account #[protected] 002 000 5

Columbia Gas of Ohio is by far the worst natural gas company in all of America. Columbia Gas of Ohio is harassing its customers by demanding a safety inspection of one's gas meter which they never care to perform. I had my first appointment for a gas meter inspection on June 5, 2018 around noon but nobody showed up and Customers Service told me that my gas meter is under lock and key and cannot be accessed. Which is a shameless lie because our gas meters are open to public access in the apartment building where I live (285 N Sandusky St, Apt 11, in Delaware City, Ohio). So I made another appointment for August 17 between noon and 2 pm. Again nobody showed up except for somebody leaving a message on my phone that my meter is supposedly under lock and key. Now Columbia Gas of Ohio is threatening to terminate my service on Sept. 4. I've complained to their management, but no one there seems to care one bit because I've got no response. I think that nobody should put up with Columbia Gas of Ohio's incompetence, laziness and insolence.

Columbia Gas of Ohio gas services

So I moved into my apartment on 5/19
& Columbia gas folks took a meter reading & there billing date was 5/22 so they took another reading of 5/22 & both where 9156. So no gas was used in 3 days. When I got the bill for $29 so I checked it's details & it was split into fixed monthly delivery charge & infrastructure replacement prog charges. I call in to ask them why was I billed $28 for no consumption of gas. They were pretty rude and said that these charges cannot be waived

Columbia Gas of Ohio Account transfer

My apartment gas account was switched over to a new tenant. I then got a bill of over $26 just for that switch and NOT for any gas use. It took several conversations with Columbia to understand what this extra charge really was. I was told it was for different thing which is ridiculous in itself. This processing fee is wrong and I am going to fight it. I am sure most customers do not know about this charge as it is added to their final bill but mine was a separate bill with 1 ccf of gas usage. A class action suit should be in the works.

Columbia Gas of Ohio call employer and caused me to loose my job

A Columbia GAs Employee called my Employer and discussed a personal matter with them regarding a Dispute that we were having with Columbia Gas over a Bill where they fixed a gas leak. In the event of this call from a Columbia Gas Employee and them calling my Employer I was fired from my job. Columbia Gas refuses to do anything about it, because my previous Employer told them that he did not tell me this, even though I gave Columbia Gas a CD with the conversation on it.

Columbia Gas is so bad. I have so many problems with them that it is very draining mentally. They are like the mafia. I have a 2 family house that I bought 2 years ago. I called Columbia Gas and this is the first time I've done business with them. I told them that I bought he house and that I need to put the 2 meters in my name and have the gas turned on. After a year and a half I receive a letter in the mail saying that they are sorry but we have only been sending you one bill instead of 2. Your other bill that we havnt sent for 18 months is now $3700.00 and you have to pay the full balance within 2 weeks or we will shut off your gas. I couldn't believe it. I told them they can't expect me to pay 18 months of gas in 2 weeks and it's about to be winter and I need gas. So what did they do? They shut off my gas all winter long and I had no heat and no stove. It was the worst time of my life and it as a cold winter. In the spring time I still couldn't get the money together because times are really tough and food has to come first. I called them up and told them I was going to call the attorney general they handed the phone to a higher person and wouldn't tell me their full name. She was very rude and was talking about personal things that had nothing to do with this issue and was treating me like I was a bum. After all the bull, she said I would have to pay $1000 and it would be turned on and then I would have to pay close to $1000 per month for 3 months. Long story short, I payed almost $3000 in 3 months and had 1 month to go and I couldn't pay the last bill. I got a shut off notice so I borrowed the money and payed he bill. 2 weeks after I payed the bill the gas got shut off. They say I owe $100 so we shut it off. They charge me a lot of money to shut off my gas and come back to turn it on. I really want to smash the meter so bad. I have to find a way to get heat and work the stove another way. People should not be treated like peasants. The hundred dollars was not from the past. It was a new bill. These guys just do whatever they feel like and somehow get away with it. I read so many complaints about them online tonight. They really are a bunch of crooks.

This is the biggest load of crap I've ever heard. No gas company bills you for fixing a gas leak that is on their side of the meter (everything up to the outlet swivel nut). If their distribution system is leaking, they fix it and don't charge the customer. I call BS.

Columbia Gas of Ohio Poor customer service on fridays

If there were any other natural gas provider in my neighborhood, I would go to them. All that is available to me is Columbia Gas. I moved into my new place on the weekend of the 10th of april, 2010. I called the landlord out to let them know there was no hot water, and to his surprise, the gas was shut off. I called the gas company and they said someone would be out on the 16th to get it set up. I also advised them that the meter appeared to have been vandalized, and that there was gas smell coming from it. They didn't seem to concerned and stuck to their original service date. On Friday, we were home all day, and we recieved a message on one of our cell phones from the service man that was supposed to come out. Later when we saw a Columbia gas vehicle drive by our house, we called them to find out why he didn't stop. We found out that our appointment had been cancelled for "No Access" and that we would have to wait another week to get our gas turned on. I have three small children that are nearly impossible to keep clean without hot water, and am expecting my fourth in June. I suspect that I know what really happened, given it was friday. Real profesional Columbia Gas. The first oppurtunity I get to have another provider, or move to a place that is serviced by your competitor, I'm gone.

called Columbia gas on Thursday [protected] to have gas put in my name - we just moved in. told no one was available until February 6tho, 2013 to be able to turn it on! It is 12 degrees outside & I have to wait 5 days to have heat or hot water? thois is very poor customer relationship from thois "billion" dollar company. i bet thoe CEO of Columbia Gas will be very warm in house tonight. I wish we had othoer options with service's like this. but i guess thats how they get us. next time I move it will not be in Columbus's, Ohio location. I will definitely look at the utility company situation first.

Columbia Gas of Ohio Lies / Missrepresnting policies

On a phone call prior to 1/14/2010 I was told by a customer service rep at Columbia Gas, that they did NOT shut off services during winter months.

My service was shut off on 1/14/2010. I was forced to pay a reconection charge. They said that they would review the call. Based on the notes that they made on my account as read to me by supervisor Jeremy id 4201, They said that I was informed of a possible disconnect.

I know that to be false and I requested another review of the call and I was denied. I was told that it would take a court ordered subpeona for them to rereview it or supply me with a copy of it.

I clearly told I would not be disconected and during subsequent calls was told I had not talked to customer service but someone in a billing or collections/finance dept.

Regardless of who told me I was advised that I was not in danger of being disconnected during the middle of winter. I want my reconnection charges crdited to my account.

I canceled my budget on ocr. 1. . Then owed nothing. Actually had a credit. But they still took my budget out. $456.00 . I Called them and they said it will take 2 weeks for my refund because they have to cut a check. It is causing overdraft fees. Why can’t they just put the money right back in my bank account they way they took it out.

They have my yard torn up and usually have a backhoe parked at the edge of my yard and old piping laying around i work midnights so this is a huge inconvenience everyday hard to sleep with 10 construction guys tearing up piping in my backyard and usually leaving a mess for the next day

Gas changed mid-billing cycle - I (as owner of property - but no gas usage) and tenant (transferred service mid cycle) both charged service fee of $30 for that month. What a way to scam money from its customers ! If there was another option available I would do so - Dominion does not do this.

Columbia Gas of Ohio BILL FROM PREVIOUS TENANT FORWARDED TO NEW TENANT

Previous tenant was stealing gas because meter wasn' t removed or locked. I set out tenant and put the bill in my name for 20 days then the new tenant tranfered the gas to there name. I was sent a bill for the previous 3 months of gas. I forwarded evection notices and the old lease with the new lease, payed the current usage and thought it was over. Six years later I set up another account and the are still demanding the back payment and threating to shut off current tenant
