Newt Thorne was going to endanger the lives of everyone who lives in Cottonwood Villas. He wanted to tear all of our buildings apart to put put in dryer vents that would of never passed code or inspection. It takes 3 elbows to get to the exterior wall which would mean our dryers would have to be 10 ft or less to the exterior wall for it to conform to code. You have a run of 25 ft from the dryer to the exterior wall for each 45 or 90 degree elbow you must deduct 5ft for each elbow. it takes 25 ft to get to the exterior wall so you take out 5 ft for every elbow and it would take 3 elbows to do what Newt wanted. your dryer would have to be 10 ft from the exterior wall to conform to code. Which is impossible because of where they are located. He keeps confessing that the vents in the laundry rooms are only to remove moisture from the laundry rooms. Dryers remove moisture from clothing, that is what the dryer does it pushes out the moisture and then the dryers stop. The same thing these vents do in the laundry rooms except it goes to the outside of the building instead of the air in your house. We had to change the hoses from 3 inches to 4 inches in order to do this which is still code. We also have drawings from the city that show that these units used to be laundry rooms in the bottom of each floor before they converted them to Condos. Everything was in place years ago to have proper ventilation. The City of Westminster said that it could be done with a permit and that we needed to consult a code specialist. They told Newt that they were no longer going to get involved and he continues to threaten, scare tatics and try to extort the residence out of thousands of unnecessary money. Bart Johnson will be putting a package together with all of the threatening news letters and a copy of the covenants stating that only the homeowners are responsible for the inside of their own units. We will continue with more information as we go. If this would of been done it would of been illegal code and endanger the lives of everyone at Cottonwood Villas. He repeatedly used scare tactics and threats to make the homeowners do something that didn't need to be done. He is an extortionist and has been ripping Cottonwood Villas off for years with the help of the President Randy Collindar and certain board members. They make up their own rules as the ygo along, the president adds a sup[lement to the bylaws and without the homeowners permission won't allow cameras or video taping in the clubhouse.
I big rule that has been keeping people away is there animal rule of only 1 animal at 10 ibs. It states in the original covenants that we can have 2 animals and no poundage restricitons. For this rule to change you have to have 51% of he homowners votes to change it. They have changed it without out permission and their attorneys go along with whatever they say without ever making reference to the bylaws! So if they try to take you to court for it take your coveanants with you and ask to see the sheet(which there is not one) of the 51% of the homewoners that voted to change the rule. This is only one of many issues with Cottonwood Villas Management Company AND PRESIDENT RANDY COLLINDAR!

They have been tying to keep this complex under seage for years, they even got 205 petitions to make the board members go away and they still don't want to follow the bylaws just ignore people and think that they can do what they want! Colorado management and Newt Thorne have attorneys that don't even know our covenants or bylaws and go with whatever they are told because they are stupid!

No it is the truth and that is what set us free! You are just an outsider that knows nothing! You cannot see the forest through the trees! Or an extortionist when you see one!

does anyone have the building and unit number for Bart Johnson? I want to put him on notice that if he slides another piece of paper under my door, I will call the police.

Feel free to email me at sarahgo13@yahoo.com.

Thanks

This is a horrible example of how contractors can defraud and scam their clients.. Talking the talk but not being able to walk the walk..

Its the scams such as these that make people hesitant to use a company or service without knowing anything about the company. Time to do your research people.

What a shame that contractors can't keep their word. I have been living in Colorado for years and have frequently heard about how bad Colorado Management Group of Associates can be.
They have been responsible for some of the states worst property rebuild and renovations. Frequently the client has to pay to have the job done again properly.. This shouldnt be the case.. Clearly the principals of Colorado Management Group aren't on their game.

I am a homeowner at Cottonwood Villas. It would take pages to refute all the misinformation in this complaint, so let me simply say the City of Westminster has informed the HOA that un-vented dryers do not meet city code. Linda Frick, the author of these complaints, can argue until the cows come home about what meets city code and what doesn't, but its the city that has the final say as to what meets code and what doesn't. The HOA invited the city of Westminister to come to our annual home owner to discuss the code, they sent their chief code enforcer and they were scheduled at the front of the agenda to speak.
First one of Linda's cohorts suggested that their presentation be postponed, then when the city representative did speak they argued with her that the code was not being enforced correctly.
I have lived in Cottonwood villas since 2001 and its a great place to live. Its affordable, has great trees and landscaping, and the management is very responsive to reasonable complaints.
One last thing. At the annual HOA meeting in October, Linda Frick, bragged that she had not paid her HOA dues in months. That and the general unprofessional tone of this complaint is a good indication of her credibility.
I am not a member of the HOA board, but I am an homeowner that supports the management and all of the HOA Board except Bart Johnson and cohorts like Linda Frick who accuse anybody who disagrees with them of being corrupt.

While there may be some salient points in the above comments, the approach is offensive and disappointing. In order for the poster's comments to be taken seriously, s/he will need to separate the urgent and critical issues from the important but not acute events, and find a way to present them suitably legibly and coherently.
