CollegeBooksDirect.com - www.collegebooksdirect.com

Ordered an algebra text on line Wednesday afternoon; paid the extra $15 for 2nd day UPS shipping. Website says books "usually shipped next business day" if ordered after 2pm. By Thursday, no notice of shipment, so emailed. No response. Called Friday AM, told book will be shipped same day. Later got an email that book was unavailable and order cancelled. Called, excuses about outside retailer, etc, but essentially they have no responsibility after refunding money. Have since found several other similar reports. Bad business policy; when I asked them to take responsibility and find the text, they said no. Their website clearly states that they will sell no book that is not in stock, but that is obviously inaccurate, as is their shipping timetable.

I filed an AtoZ guarantee claim due to this exact situation of being sold a NOT FOR RESALE UNDER FEDERAL LAW copy of a textbook...they are requiring me to return the book to them rather than the publisher in order to get a refund! I refuse to be a party to their continuing illegal and unethical practices. While it is not illegal to resale free copies in many states, to my understanding, it IS illegal under federal law to alter or conceal the NOT FOR RESALE- FREE COPY disclaimers on the cover of these books. This needs to be a class action lawsuit...how many students have been out money because they cannot resale the copies they buy from CollegeBooksDirect.com? Head Heal Heart G- Mail for anyone pursuing a class action lawsuit...I am all in for promoting business ethics and legal practices!

Students: if you order from collegebooksdirect on Amazon and they send you an instructor version, you can complete an A-Z claim request and get your money back. This can also be used if they send you a book that is materially different, such as does not contain the CD if the amazon description says there should be one, if it is in worse condition than they claimed, etc. Don't just post a negative feedback, get your money back! They can also be reported to the publishers for selling products marked "not for resale", such as the FREE instructor versions.

This company is also in the practice of selling instructor & international edition textbooks and passing them off as student edition textbooks. They tape over every mention of the book being instructor/international and "NOT FOR RESALE IN THE U.S." on the outside of the book. Their auctions will make no mention of the fact that the book is a fraud, and not the real student edition.
