Coby 27 / Faulty Product/Faulty Warranty Svc
I received a Coby 27" :CD HD TV from my children as a Christmas present. We hooked up the TV and it worked for less than 3 weeks before colors started bleeding and the picture started washing out. After 4 days of phone calls to the 800 customer service number with no answer I found a switchboard number and finally got someone to answer the phone. I was told to ship the TV back to Coby in New York and they would repair or replace the TV within 6-8 weeks. I shipped the unit via UPS and it was signed for at their dock on 2/19/09. On 3/27/09 I started calling to check status and was given every answer from "it is repaired and ready to ship" to "we don't have any record of receiving you TV". I was finally given the name of the "dock supervisior" who told me they were unable to repair the TV and they no longer made that model so they were having trouble finding a replacement. I advised them that was not my problem, their warranty was repair or replace with equal or greater value and I expected a TV within 7 days and that I would go to the local media if they did not live up to their warranty. I received a replacement TV on the 8th day but it was only 26" LCD HD. I know that is only a 1" difference but it is not equal or greater value. I would NOT recommend anyone buy any COBY product at any price unless you are in the habit of throwing your money in the trash.
