Coast Dental Services broken dental appliance

I had actually been very impressed with them my 1st 2 visits. However on my 3rd visit the hygenist broke my permanent retainer. Up to this point in the visit she had been saying everything was fine in my mouth. As soon as she broke it she suddenly claimed that it was already coming off (she had never said anything about it in any other visit up or during this one until she broke it). Her first words were to ask how old the device was. The thing is that she improperly flossed it by trying to pull the floss all the way through. She and the dentist went into this long thing about how they have NEVER seen a retainer put in that way and that it shouldn't have been sealed onto each tooth. The next day when I went to the orthodontist to have it replaced he was amazed that they would claim such a thing. He said that they never should have flossed it the way she did and that my retainer was put on exactly the way that they always are. If it was cemented to each tooth then the teeth will move. When I called The dentist wouldn't even get on the phone and sent the hygenist to answer my call. She told me that basically it would have eventually broken anyway so they refused to take any responsibilty.

Some orthodontists will attach the permanent retainer the canine teeth only (like mine), but other orthodontists will attach the permanent retainer to all 6 teeth from canine to canine. The problem with the retainer that is glued to all 6 teeth is that most people have an extremely difficult time on a daily basis to keep this area clean. If a typical person can not keep any dental appliance in the mouth clean, then those teeth are at risk of periodontal disease or decay. Although I wouldn't question or doubt any orthodontist, I personally don't understand why any orthodontist would choose to glue 6 teeth together without any easy way to clean it.

Coast Dental Services billing practices

Patient since 2003, went for yearly check-up&6 mos.cleaning.They added cancer screening, deeper cleaning, fluoride treatment.Bottom line the charge was $448.98 .I am 71 yr.old retired woman living on social security/no insurance.I asked if they could work with me hoping for some consideration;but they said no, they have you sign billing so that's that. They will give me my records if I write for them for a date to pick-up.So, as I've found your website &so many other unsatisfied ripped off consumers, I'd like to add my name to the list of unsatisfied customers.Obviusly they didn't value a long term customer. Wish I'd have seen the website sooner. Thanks for the platform to vent&warn others.Ms.Pat in Cocoa, Florida

Was told that I had a cavity and that it needed to be filled immediately. I did not have time that day. In the mean time I went for a visit to NJ and went to my former dentist who told me there was NO cavity there at all. I will not be going back to Coast Dental.

Coast Dental Services scammers

I have alwas kept up my dental check ups for the past 5 years regularly every 6 mths for my cleanings and check ups. I recently changed to a closer dentist office figuring I could save myself a half hour drive, So I try Coast Dental at 1115 62nd Ave in Saint Petersburg FL. Big Mistake, from the start they were unorgainzed, unprofessional and down right rude. They misplaced my records from my previous office.
After they take my x rays and I meet with the dentist whom takes a quik look at my x rays, tells me I have 3 cavities and I apear to have 2 infections in 2 past root canals that have been crowned, then she asked me if I brush my teeth and when was the last time I've seen a dentist. She says all this before even doing a oral exame, when she does she just pooked at 2 of my wisdom teeth only, she never told me where the cavaities were.
Next the Hygenist does his exame, he begins to pierce deeply into my gums causing a lot of pain and as I cringe he talks down to me saying whens the last time you've had a cleaning and that he sees I have infections in my gums. So when finished he tells me I have bad genivitis and need a deep cleaning. This is a surprise to me because I show no symptoms.
Now I go back to my last dentist for a second opion and I learn that I have only a start to one small cavity, no infections and I do not have genivitis! *remember always ask questions and get a second opion, cuz ya never know

They do that so they can charge to numb your mouth, and for a bunch of different mouth wash and wipe your gums with disinfectant then charge you $800

Coast Dental Services horrible experience

Picked this practice since my dental insurance changed, and i could no longer see my regular dentist. my insurane covers routine cleaning exam and x rays with no out of pocket costs. made appt. first thing in the morning. arrived 15 min early and was kept waiting 45 mins. before anything was done, technician explains only x rays and exam will be done today (no cleaning) and hands me a piece of paper saying out of pocket today would cost me $80. I told them my insurance should cover routine xrays and exam. She said they need to do an oral cancer screening (not covered) and a special x-ray (not covered)..i said i did not want the oral cancer screening if it was not covered and she said that i would have to have it or sign a paper that says i decline...and i would have to have it before they do a cleaning (on my next visit)...was angry but still declined the screening and agreed to the xtra xray for an addition $20...technician begins the xray process, sticking things in my mouth, leaving the room and pressing buttons, coming back..after the third button push i inquired as to why she wasn't putting anything up to my mouth before pushing buttons...possibly thinking this was some new kind of new xray ...she then realized that she had not been moving the camera over to my mouth before snapping the picture!...this is not going well...brings me to another area with chairs lined up like a hair cuttery place...and waited 30 minutes for the xrays to be developed...dentist comes by does an exam...tells me i have gingivitis and need a special type of cleaning...tech comes back..hand me a piece of paper that says my next visit will cost me $482.98 out of my pocket!...special cleaning, cancer screening, asssorted fees...all not covered by insurance...I got out of there as fast s i could! went back to my other dentist not covered by insurance paid $80 out of my pocket for a cleaning and exam...was told there is no gingivitis, my teeth are fine...Avoid Coast Dental...

I had the very same experience yesterday on 10/16/2013. Except mine was a little different. The dentist never touched me, Her assistant was "probing" my mouth with some [censored]ing needle, calling out numbers, while the dentist wrote them down. They then proceeded to leave the room, 20 minutes later...They send the x-ray girl to explain to me the details of what i have and need done, claims i have periodontal disease, need a gum cleaning, i have to get laser treatment to remove bacteria from my gums, etc, etc...I ask her why isn't the dentist explaining this to me, And the x-ray girl tells me " It's because of the "hippo rule"? What the hell is that! All the while all i needed was a filling and they refused to do the work because they claimed they could not do nothing because they needed to treat me for their False diagnosis! Paid the 24 dollars for the x-ray exam and left. I was so upset of what i went through. This morning i will make it my mission to blog this to make people aware of this franchise's racket scheme, in the hope of bringing awareness to those in power to bringing these kinds of practices down.

I have been going here for years and at this point I am done with coast they claim that they call you to let you know that you have an app coming up and they don't always do that, but say they do or write you out an app card and when the time comes around oh you don't have an app today or just today i came in for my app and when i got there the young lady askes if i knew that i had a balance... um no you have one for the filling in oct. and a cleaning in sept, but the filling was the sameone that had popped out for the fourth time and they told me they wouldn't see me for a cleaning until i payed 97.00 for some speical cleaning to get done so how do i have a balance? when y'all havn't seen me.

COAST DENTAL IS A SCAM! I HAD MY TEETH CLEANED BY A REPUTABLE OFFICE FOR YEARS UNTIL THE DENTIST RETIRED. DECIDED TO GO TO COAST WHERE I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO GO ON A PLAN THAT WOULD COST ME OVER 1, 000.00 AND I HAVE INSURANCE!. MY FIRST VISIT I WAS TOLD MY CO-PAY WAS 230.00 ALTHOUGH THE PLAN I SIGNED SAID THE CO-PAY WAS 150.00. THE HYGENIEST HAD NO EXPLANATION FOR THIS ADDITIONAL COPAY. THEY SELL YOU STUFF YOU DO NOT NEED, LIKE BUYING A CAR WHEN YOU GO THERE! DO NOT DO IT OR YOU WILL BE SORRY!

Coast Dental Services over charging and bad customer service

had the worst experience I have ever had at a dental office, thanks to Coast Dental. Upon, arriving the front desk staff was cordial; however I had to wait forever to be seen. When I was seated in the dental chair, I was greeted with paper work asking me to sign that I agreed to pay $80.00 more than what I should be paying, based on my plan prices. I immediately reviewed the paperwork and saw that they were trying to charge me for oral cancer screening (invisilight) without consulting with me to see if I wanted it. I politely informed the assistant that I didn't want to have that procedure and they removed the charges. After getting a full set of x-rays and waiting another 25 minutes, the dentist finally came in. She was very impersonal and uninterested in me or my oral health. She spent less than 5 minutes examining me and didn't even look at my x-rays that I paid $60.00 for. So I was amazed when she was able to trump up a treatment plan with over $3000.00 worth of dental work. I have a composite on my front tooth and it broke off, I informed them up front that I know that I need a crown for long term, but I can only afford a composite. She all but refused to do it and instead suggested I get a veneer the most expensive option possible. After haggling with the office manager they agreed to do a composite on Monday (the first appointment was on a Friday). When I got home I had a feeling that the price I was quoted was too much. So I contacted Careington and viewed the price schedule and I was correct. They put a code for a posterior tooth instead of anterior because it cost more. I called them first thing Monday morning to inform them and was told that they would fix it at my appointment later that day. When I arrived and discussed it with them, they changed the code but still insisted on trying to charge the price of the incorrect code. When I confronted them and informed them that they should call my discount plan company if they don't agree with the ADA dental code prices, because I was not going to pay the price for a procedure that I wasn't having. They basically told me they would not be willing to charge me anything lower than what they quoted me. How can a dentist office pick and choose what they want to charge customer, that's why the ADA has codes in place to determine the price of procedures. Coast Dental Stone Mountain is an overall nightmare! FYI I would give the name of the dentist but I'm not sure if I am allowed to.

Coast Dental in Pasadena FL was the dental care choice of My provider. After calling 3 times & leaving a number with ho return call I walked in to make an appt. They saw me the next day & did an exam & xrays. The xrays werent including gums & roots so Dr on duty had to guess which tooth had decay when she was reviewing the needed work. After putting together a list of things totaling over 3000 dollars the billing clerk.. a horrible pregnant woman with a bad attitude.. said nothing is covered by your insurer. Next day I called the writer of the dental coverage & was told 1 cleaning a year 3fillings & 3 simple extractions were covered as well as 2 surgical extractions. I could have used up all My coverage fro the year & would have, but she told Me the things werent covered. Next day I went back w the notes from talking to insurer & she admitted well some of the things were covered. I was so pissed by then I said no thanks Ill find a way to get it done someplace else. Calling corporate next & posting warnings where I san. They suck. Prices quoted were 2 -3 tomes more than a dentist I was paying a year or so ago.

Coast Dental Services rudeness, exclusion

Wow!
Where to start? So sorry others have had these bad experiences, so sorry I did, as well.
Okay. I now know it would be a waste to complain to company since the rottenness runs deep..
So, although the admininistrator seems much friendlier now - she was very sarcastic when initially dealing with company.
The cleaning hygeinist is great.
My dentist herself is fairly thorough.

Last time was the worst time ever! Had to have much work done. They put the initial numbing cream on for a second, then put a tiny bit of stuff in via needle- i wasnt numb.. i then said i wasnt and lets just say the rest of session was a torture session until i was about to scream or walk out(and followed a mocking session as when i finally got a bit more pain relief i was so numb that i bit my cheek after they, knowing i have a crossbite asked me to bite repeatedly..my swollen cheeks had a reaction..anyway- the only thing over my head not said in another language was 'haha she bit her cheek!..)

i dont mind some of the upselling done- because i think i really needed these services.

also i was glad because she saved a tooth that had been neglected previously due to financial reasons.

but for these reasons and a couple of other things that were beyond rude and just so not right..i guess they have yet another less client. some moderation in their ' upselling' and 'ATTITUDE!' is much needed.

it is too bad they get away with this! would they treat their families like this? well i keep their families fed so.. i tiny bit of respect would be great.

Coast Dental Services substandard dental service

I just don't want anybody to go through what I had gone through. My family and I used to go to Coast Dental for over years. We have seen the same dentist-Dr. Ngyuen for years, but the last time I needed a crown, and they told me she has left Coast Dental. I had a crown done by another dentist there. I will not mention name here, but the work is so sub standard, I had many crowns done before, this time, I coundn't bite right, food keeps getting caught in the between. I came back and they keep grind it down. I now have pain and afraid to go back there. I look up my previous dentist, and she does not take my insurance, but I don't care at this point. I just need a dentist who do it right the first time. Choose your dentist, not the one who is on your insurance list.

This place is an absolute rip off. They treat people like cattle and the dentists walk around with nothing to do but look at x rays and consequently setting an endless string of appointments that will in the end cost a fortune. I went in about two weeks ago, they took x rays, then the doctor came in, looked at them and told the assistant to set an appointment with the doctor that takes out the wisdom teeth. Then he walked out and started pacing around like he wanted to leave. His name is Dr Katz. The doctors are shifted around their different offices, so it is impossible to have two doctors look at you on the same day. I set an appointment with the other doctor and when I came in a few days later I was greeted by this beefy dude with hands like he had just mawn his lawn. I was glad he said I did not need have my wisdom teeth removed. The thought of having those fingers inside my mouth made me nauseous. Instead, he prescribed mouthwash. Yes, mouthwash. He then said I would need to schedule a third appointment with the first doctor to have a cavity fixed.

On my third appointment I was given the oral cancer exam and more x rays. The assistant did not know what she was doing. Whe I asked her about the results for the oral cancer exam, her response was an assuring, 'the doctor did not say anything so I am assuming you do not have cancer'. I had already warned her that i was pissed and that I was not leaving until I had some real work done on my teeth. Then came Dr Katz again who once again looked at the x rays and suggested to have more work done. Then, he proceeded to get up, walk away and started pacing around like a kid that's waiting to be saved by the bell. Then of course, another doctor was sent in. She was going to talk about deep cleaning but before she said anything I told her that I did not care about cleaning that I just wanted to have the cavity fixed. Then, they sent another dentist and he told me my options; have the tooth extracted or have a root canal. I asked him when could this be done and he said, 'you have to set another appointment'. Unbelievable, Coast Dental needs to be investigated. Absolute rip offs.

Coast Dental Services fraud

We went to Coast Dental two years ago because it was the only office covered by my insurance at the time. We both had appointments in which they "diagnosed" us but said they couldn't give us a cleaning. We got the care plans and were told it would cost us two thousand each to do work in our mouths. After a while, we decided to go to another dentist and get a second opinion. Upon seeing the care plan they informed my husband that Coast was planning on drilling in places where he didn't have any cavities. They wanted to do root canals in places were he didn't need it. They were also charging us for things that the office staff at the second dentist laughed at because it was so absurd that they were charging us for. The second dentist charges more than 80% less than what Coast was charging for the same procedures. DO NOT go to Coast Dental in WINTER SPRINGS, FL.

I agree, Coast Dental is a rip off operation. My family and I had been going to the Merritt Island Fl location. The Dentist and Staff are very rude. They overcharge for treatments or try to sell a treatment you don't need. I would never recommend Coast Dental!

Coast Dental Services customer relations

I had an appointment 12/18/09, at 12:10, when I arrived at 12:03, I was informed my appointment had been given away since I did not call and confirm. On 12/17/09, there was a message left on my home answering machine stating I needed to call and confirm my appointment by 5PM. I did not get home from work or receive the message until 5:10PM. I promptly called the number provided and left a message to confirm. I have been a patient of Coast Dentist, Fleming Island, Orange Park, FL for two years. In that time I have NEVER missed or been late for an appointment. The dental office has my work number they could have called me there. Better yet they could have called me two days prior to my appointment thus giving me one day to respond. As I previously stated I have NEVER missed an appointment so there was no reason to believe I would not arrive for this appointment. Needless to say I will not use Coast Dental in the future as I think this is very poor practice and poor treatment of a reliable customer.

I had the same thing happen with my appointment. I showed up and they told me that they called me to reschedule it. I had no missed calls or messages. However, this would of been the 3rd time that they rescheduled me. I explained that I had taken time off of work to make this appointment. They told me the "hygienist" would squeeze me in. After waiting almost an hour, they fit me in. To my surprise, the dental assistant did my "cleaning", not the hygienist. I did not got x-rays like I am supposed to get. I had to pay $45 out of pocket to get my teeth polished. They did not floss my teeth and no fluoride. I have a cavity that I did not get looked at. I have gum recession that they "fixed" for me. They made it worse and was told I could have lost my teeth because of their "fix." And it never fails that I end up getting a bill from them. I check my eob online and there is never even a claim filed with them. They are a rip off! I could write pages on my bad experiences with these people. I am changing my dental insurance and will be getting a new dentist.

I went to coast dental in Orange Park, Fl in march of 2010 to have new dentures made. It took them 8 month to make just a upper denture, the doctor (Dr.Ramsey) advised that they would have togive up on the lower denture as it would never be right anyway much less get made in the same year. I finally received my upper denture in late October (only the upper) and I asked about the refund due for the lower denture and was told I would receive it in about 3 weeks, it is now feb 2011 and still no refund. I called there office in Tampa and was told I would not get a full refund and would have to wait for someone else to reveiw to file again after 3 different offices have already reviewed it coast dental wants all of there money upfront before they perform any service but will not issue a refund for services NOT rendered. I will never use or recomend Coast dental again nor Dr. Ramsey of coast dental

Coast Dental Services rip-off

I made an appointment to have a dental cleaning at Coast Dental. Upon arrival I was called to do Xrays since I'm new patient. As soon as I set in the chair, the lady came in and stated to me "we're going to take two types of xrays, and a gum cancer test" TELLING me, not ASKING ME. So me not knowing much thinking it is covered by my insurance ccompany, and it is a routine with every new member, I went ahead with it. The lady never told me this was extra charge till she brought me to sign a consent form of the bill after the fact. (which is illegal). Anyway, I set in the chair wanting a cleaning, after I was checked by the dentist, the same lady comes back with a document that she wanted me to sign that indicates a bill of $332.50.
They wanted to sell me an electric tooth-brush although I have one. They wanted me to buy a very expensive mouth wash, two tubes of gels for my gums that I didn't need, and a small filling. They stated that I have a small cavity (which I didn't). At that point I was so frustrated. I told them that (I ffel like I'm at a car dealership with salesman trying to sale me extended warranty, but deffinitely not a dental facility).
I left that office with so much anger. I've decided to take my business to an honest dental office where I feel I'm not been taking advantage of.
I went to other dentist and guess what: I DIDN'T NEED A FILLING OR ANY OTHER BULL CRAP THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED.
people, please do not go there, and take your business else where. I've never experienced anything like that with any other dentists.

Stay clear of this office! There may be other OK locations. The old hygienist left because of how she was treated. We continued to stay until we were also treated horribly by the staff. Unethical practices with billing.

I took my kid for cleaning at port Charlotte office in fl . Higgenist took her in and she said that she will do panoramic and reg cleaning. I told her don't do panoramic cause she had one in past 5 years and ins will not cover it . Plus I don't want her to get exposure to radiation . She sorted to argue with me that it's free and there is no radiation . I told her that I have a sister who is a dental assistant and I know how it's works . She keeps telling me that it's free and took her in . While she was there in the room she told my kid to remove her earnings and my kid could not cause she just had them pierced . I went up and asked the front desk associate to weigh when she had a panoramic exray . She said it's not her job and I should ask the higenist . A minute after my kid came out and the highenist said where's your exray? I told her when I made an apt no one told me to bring a panoramic exray. She told me on a phone that they will do bite wings . I told them you are welcome pe to do panoramic but I will put a note on paper I signed that I warned them and if my insurance will not pay for it I'm not paying . Then she went off crazy, being sooo rood .other patients were shocked. Acting so unprofessionally like little kid . I walked out and told them to cancel my fri apt cause I'm not coming back . I took me 25 min to drive with a small baby asking my kid to baby sit other 3 children . Quests what front desk was keeping calling me on Friday morning to see if I'm coming for my apt . I have a customer relations no to complain left them 3 voice mails and they newer called me back . Waste of my time and nerves.

I agree with it iz what it is, you're right about coast dental. I used to work for them many years ago, they were a good company back then, until they hired these bean counters from verizon, then everything went to hell. Don't let these ### artists from coast try to convince you it is still a good company, they have a bad rep. in florida, and they wiil soon get a bad rep. in california. Do yourself a favor and find another job, you'll be glad you did.

This place is horrible! They told me that I had 3 cavities when I didn't. The one cavity that they filled fell out twice and now they want to put a crown on it. Seriously? For a typical small cavity? My brother-in-law is a dentist in St. Louis. When I saw him over the holidays he told me that a crown was totally unnecessary and that he hears complaints about this franchise often.

Martin Walls, In Florida, the Florida statutes say a dentist can charge reasonable fees for providing you copies of your records. The statutes also state, however, that a dentist must provide free record copies for continuing care. Thus, if your new dentist requests copies from Coastal Dental they should be provided for free. Check here:
http://ihcrp.georgetown.edu/privacy/stateguides/fl/fl.pdf
and google in the internet for more info.

Coast Dental Services poor service/treatment

I was told I needed a root canel, I let them do it, even during the procedure I felt he did not go far enough, for months I have complained about it to be told "I did not give enough time to heal" 4 months later. He then filed the tooth down even more "no occlusions", now the tooth is absecessed. and I need to retreat. I also let them put on a crown, the day of the seating, I complained it was explained to me that it would feel different, new item in the mouth. Give it time, another one also absecessed. Now when I have tried to talk to them, my records reflect, PT was comfortable. or they worked on another tooth, not the one I am complaining about.

RUN FROM THEM, STAY AWAY. OFFICE STAFF IS RUDE, I CAN GO ON AND ON. RUN, RUN, RUN.

I am $10k in debt for having bad work done there and having to pay someone else to undo and redo this work. No one would help or answer calls or questions. The dentist insisted that his work was ok and that the dentist that did the rework just 'convinced' me that it was bad so that he could make money. After much back and forth he offered to pay out of pocket outside of coast and arranged meeting with myself and my husband. The office manager said that this was ok and he was responsible for his work. He had his wife there. I did not want to discuss the case just the settlement. He stood up, put out his hand and said "I forgive you". I cried and left the room. When I returned they blamed whoever did the rework (I did not say this, but the two dentists that looked at the lousy work were never told who did it) for wanting money. Both the OM and dentist said that they NEVER said that they would settle with me. Both lied and I cried. Still trying to fight this as HIPAA violations, bad work, and paperwork errors are all noted. Sorry to anyone who is going through this with any dentist. This is malpractice. Just getting your money back after grinding down your natural teeth and replacing them with something that doesn't fit or function is not acceptable - they should pay for rework (at least). We need dental lawyers!

I have a problem with this office as well. In January 2009, based on their evaluation of $6000, I decided to let them do the work. I never looked forward to going into the office for the work because everytime I did there were rude people and new charges, things they found after they started the work that needed to be done. Anyway, Coast Dental was the only in-network dentist for the insurance I had so I really had no choice. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed one of my caps was loose so I called and made an appointment to see Dr Overleese. He did not do the work, Dr Nadeem Paroo did but he had left the practice so I had to see Dr Overleese. He took xrays and told me the root was good but the post had broken under the cap. He would have to remove the cap and fix the post. I said fine but then this girl brings me the amount its going to cost and it blew me away. It was $754.00. This was a botched job they had already done for me. The original cap and post didnt this much. So I got upset and Kim at the desk told me they would give me a discount and would only charge me $454. Still mad I called the corporate office and talked to a Debbie. It took her a whole week to get back to me and tell me they would not give me a discount. I told her Kim promised a discount already but even that was taken away. This debbie lady was condescending and cold. I checked the Better Business Bureau and they have an F grade for not responding to complaints. I filed a complaint but dont expect to get a response due to their way of doing business. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT COAST DENTAL. THEY ARE UNETHICAL AND DO NOT STAND BY THEIR WORK.

I went to Coast Dental until they started hammering me about gum cancer screenings, plaining/scaling entire mouth at $1000.00, and gum surgery at $3000.00. I do have some recession on part of my gums, but not enough for surgery another dentist told me. They also didn't explain plaining/scaling proceedure, but pressured me to signing on for treatment. 27 bite wing x-rays and $150.00 later, they didn't even clean my teeth! I verbally made my appointment for cleaning and they sent me an email confirmation. I took the morning off from work and when I got there, they said I did not have an appointment. The staff is definately rude! My husband wanted to me to go back there to save a few dollars on some of my fillings, and another rude women was defending their actions in dropping my appointment! Unbelievable! Stay away from Rude Coast Dental Rip Off!

Coast Dental Services did not keep appointment

I had an appointment set up to finish my crown. When I arrived for the appointment I was told the crown was not in. I had to rearrange an important meeting to make this appointment. I have found Coast Dental to be the worst dental service I have found. After they complete this crown I will no longer use their services. They overcharge for the services and pressue you into services you do not want and I believe to be unnecessary. I feel I have been ripped off over 1, 000.00 from this dental service. Once this crown is finished I will never use their services again. I advise everyone to stay away or you could end up spending thousands of dollars with this dental service.

Coast Dental Services less than satisfactory filling

I brought my two children to coast dental in melbourne near us1 by the old court house. I was told that my 10yr old had a cavity in a baby tooth on the occlusal surface(biting surface). I wasn't happy to hear that she had a cavity, but it was very small and on the occlusion. When she was finished we waited in the waiting area because I was told that the front desk or other staff member needed to speak with me. I waited while they talked about non work related things, while patient was present, not me someone else was also in the waiting room. When one of them came back out to the front office, she said I could go. Not very together. When we were on the way home my daughter(10yro ld) told me that the assistant told the Dr not to do the filling because "themother was having it done someplace else" The Dr. said "She's having it done some where else, why?" The assistant replied"I don't know, whatever" They continued to discuss me during my daughter's treatment and how I have 4 children and I've been in the dental field for years. She proceeded to say and the mother(rolloing her eyes), Whatever" When we got home my daughter said that she couldn't bit down, that something was in her way. GREAT! I took a look at the filling. Oh my gosh! This is the ugliest filling I have ever seen. It looks like they just slapped some gunk on there and lit it up to solidify it. I have been in the dental field for almost 10 yrs and I know what a good and bad filling looks like. This is definetly bad, it's a brownish color and it interfere's with her bite. There was no reason to get her numb, being that it's small and on biting surface. They did anyway, without speaking with me first! The Dr. was rude and the assistant was a ###. The cavity was NOT ON THE OCCLUSION, it was on the lingual(inside near gumline)(appt time was 2pm. she had a cleaning, filling and sealants-3 hours)My older child had a couple of small fillings, which the Dr recommended he get her numb. SHe was very nervous, she has never had a filling done before, nor had to get numb. Her fillings look fine, except the sealant flaked off! She also stated that the Dr and the assistant were rude to her. The assistant said if she felt anything to raise her left hand. She felt some discomfort, then raised her left hand, like instructed. The assistant said with a nasty tone" uh, you can't wait like 5 seconds, ugh, whatever" I am so livid from this experience. I called, but had to leave a message because it was after hours by the time I got home. Both children are having sensitivity in the upper posterior areas from the injection. If people don't like children don't work on them. Clearly the staff had no consideration nor had the patience to deal with my kids. Once my girls were behind closed doors the assistant treated my girls very poorly. I want the filling redone, but I would like someone else to do it.The fact that the filling is sloppy and discolored is not that important. I hate to put my 10yr old little girl through this again, but the filling is rough and interferring with her bite.

Dear Mrs.McCandles: Sad to read about your ordeal at Coast in Melborn, Fl. I sugest you go to coastdental.com click on "about coast dental, "about us" and write your complaint. This way coorporate knows what is going on.This does not mean your problem will go way. this is only one thing you can do, This was the office manger will recieve a copy of your e-mail/complaint from her "operation specialist "(her boss) and she has to do something about, depending in the complaint. i sugets you dont go back for tx. with the same dentis given the fact that you and girls had this real bad experin ce before.I would complaint, perhaps request your money back if you paid anything and also imforyour insurance if any af your experince. Coast Dental Services lied about cavities

I went to Coast Dental in July to get my teeth cleaned (I ended up not doing it because they wanted $150!). The topper is they took x rays and claimed that I had a lot of tooth decay and 14 cavities! I was told that the cost was going to be $3000. There's no way was I going to do that: I got my x rays and sent them home to my former dentist in Indiana for a second opinion. The result? NO tooth decay and NO cavities! He said that there were 2 small pits on one tooth but that they could wait till I go home in the next few months and have him take care of it. Thank goodness I didn't believe these rip off artists. I urge everyone to ask questions before you agree to anything they want to do to you!

Coast Dental Services refused to do treatment

Went to see Dr. Tim Luong because my son broke his frount tooth and he is a provider on my dental insurance. I made an appoint for an emergency exam & 1 x-ray to determine what treatment needed to be done. After he took 6 x-rays & a pano on my child & did the exam, he then determined he could not do the treatment on his tooth because the insurance did not pay enough for a four surface filling. He said I would have to pay out of pocket for a porclin crown & a build up, that my insurance did not cover it. I asked him to just do what my insurance covered & he said "it was not worth his time that I would have to do the crown or he could just leave his tooth broken". I explained that my insurance would pay to have the tooth fixed with a 4 surface filling, but he said "not by me you will have to go some where else then". He then walked away from me with out even saying good bye. He has a legal contract with these insurance companies when he agrees to be a provider. He is a unprofessional, greedy, arogant, S.O.B, who does not have the best interest of his patients. He has no morals or values other than his own GREED. I had to go to Greenburg Dental who is not a provider on my insurance and pay out of pockek for the filling that should of been covered at 100% with my insurance. BEWARE Stay away from TIM LUONG.

This loser is a greedy apathetic unprofessional nasty person. If he really is a dentist it must be a mail order degree or something. I will not take the time to repeat all the nasty things he did, but he did leave me with a half root canal, nerve exposed, no pain meds, and drilled too deep right into nerve, so told me to come back in a week. I come back and he drills in the same hole all the way to the nerve again, and I reminded him of what he should be doing, not drilling any deeper, but sealing the nerve somehow. Bottom line, I walked out, he charges 800.00 on my care credit card, even though I have medicaid. He charged me 800 for a a half done root canal and a week in pain, then infection in the gums, now its a month later and a real dentist is trying to fix his mess. Almost took a swing at the [censored] when he wouldnt stop drilling into my nerve. Not to mention he numbed the wrong area of my mouth like a freakin blind man.
I would not allow this "Dr" LOL! to work on my wooden coffee table much less a human being. If they dont refund the 800 I am suing him this week. Anybody wants in, contact me @tjpetri@yahoo.com. He needs to be stopped.

I have gone through 3 weeks of horrible pain from a broken tooth. I went in to have the tooth pulled, it broke, so he left the shattered root, gave me motrin and a mouth rinse and sent me home, 3 days later I go back with a raging infection and he says, Dr. Loung asked if I was taking the antibiotic that he did not even prescribe for me. So he says don't worry we will take care of it, they take more x-rays, give me pain pills, and the antibiotic i should of been given, and sent me home. A week later I go back, they take more x-rays, removes the shattered root, then contours my gum line, I was in some serious pain, and refused to refill any pain medications. So I go back for the next appointment, and for the second time they asked why I was there and I did not have an appointment. They said I was a walk-in, they took more x-rays and said it looked inflamed and it would take several weeks for it to heal, and refused to give me anything for the pain, then had the gall to charge me $80.00. A simple tooth extraction turned into, at date 3 weeks of hell, and over $300.00. I just find it hard to believe any Dentist would let anyone be in pain for that long, I felt like I was being a bother, the staff performance is questionable at best. I cannot express my Ill feelings towards this experience. And what I have heard from other people since this incident has started, I am not the only person who has had problems. This place in a word "SUCKS"

More than likely a four surface filling was not in your childs best interests. I;m sure a crown was recomended and Dr. Luong would not do treatment on your son just beacuase your ins did not cover a crown. A four surface filling is a huge filling that would probally break and you would be back for a crown anyway. I hope all worked out and be sure to come back to see Dr. Luong for the crown when the filling breaks.

Coast Dental Services overcharges and rescheduling conflict

I have tried to stick it out with this dental office. I have been dissatified for some months now and decided I had enough. Recently my son had an appointment for 5:00pm and it was changed in their system to 4:30pm. When he arrived at 4:50pm, he was told he would have to reschedule because his appointment was at 4:30pm. Well they sent the appointment card in the mail and it clearly states 5:00pm. My son was turned away and given an appointment for two days later at 10:00 a.m. Hello! people work and can't just leave whenever you feel you want to make an appointment mid morning. Needless to say when my son called to let me know of what just occured it was the last straw. I had put up with snappy attitude hygienist, one of which was gone by the time I decided to leave the first time. The next lady was a little better but still had an air about herself and spoke to you like you were a little kid. Most likely I was older than she was. Then on top of everything you get to the front to pay and you are charged for mouth rinse they recommend and cleaning instrument that you can get much cheaper from Sams or Bj's. Ask me first before you apply additional charges to my account. You don't pay my bills or run my household. I called and spoke to the head Doctor at that site, Dr. Richardson who was pleasant and asked what can she do for me. I told her I just felt the need to let her know why we would not be back. They were fired! and lost two patients, actually they lost me back and March of this year, I just thought I would take my son since he is on a 6 month schedule and would be away at college so I wouldn't really have to deal with them as much. Well no more, I have a philosophy that I live by" I never have to beg anyone to take my money"! someone else will always be more than happy to assist you with the customer service you deserve.

Why in all area of Atlanta I can't to find dental simple cleaning without additional services as examination, RX and so on. It is violence to overcome additional costs. In this question should decide customer and his wish, not demanding dentist. I as customer should decide what kind of service I need and how much could I pay for service. It is my responsibility not dentist. I dpn't need unwelcomed services with additional costs. If I want to wash my hands in simple way I don't need XR and great evaluation done by professor of sience. It is simple service done by someone if it is impossible to do myself. This kind of practice is conspiracy against customar and his wish.

Coast Dental Services overcharging/unnecessary treatments

In the 12 years I have been retired from the Air Force, I have NEVER had to pay any charges for my cleanings/XRays...UNTIL moving into the Ocala area and falling into the clutches of Coast Dental. Ny first visit resulted in close to $500 in non-covered costs. It would seem that they may charge $41.00 for "anti-bacterial irrigation" which seemed to be nothing more than a squirt of mouthwash. $28.00 for desensitzing meds (wiping my gums with something). My wife was charged similar amounts. An internet search reveals the truth that it is a coroporate driven scheme to get as much as possible from the pockets of people of low and fixed incomes. We're looking for another PRIVATE dentist now!

They charge us fees for $41.00 for "anti-bacterial irrigation" nothing more than a squirt of mouthwash. $28.00 for desensitzing meds (wiping my gums with something). and much more, My husband has been going for his cleaning and they charge over $200 each visit which the cleaning has been broken up into four visits and all of the fees for mouth wash fluorides and stuff they rub on your mouth while cleaning are not covered by insurance costs were $65, $25, $18, $45 and were charged per each 3 teeth resulting in over $800 just for a cleaning

My friend calling the coorporate office wont do anything.Coorporate is hoe rules all the offices .They are the ones puching all the Doctors and other staff members to add and dignos all this "xtra things" irrigation, desensitizing ...Go stight to small claims court.

A piece of advise...remember that Coast Denatl is a powerful coorporation and they have a very good group in law representation. You as patient signed all this documents and consent forms prior any treatment that states basicly that is all patients resposability and foult :(

Good luck and fight them.dont give up.I think this will help this company to learn to respect and cere moore for their patients.

Went there today for a check-up and a cleaning and what a mistake. They were deceptive in what they were charging me for - things I didn't want nor need. And then when I questioned it at the check-out, I was accused of trying to scam them and that was what I was there for was to scam them out of payment for services! I went there for a check-up and a cleaning - scamming really isn't something I would think of going to sit in a dentists chair to do! Unreal! Now I'm contacting their corporate office to see what their viewpoint is. I'm guessing this is probably systemic with the entire chain but it was a starting point. My next step will be small claims court and possibly a slander/defamation of character suit. Stay away from Coast Dental and spread the word.

Coast Dental Services scam charges

I made it clear to Coast dental I strictly wanted my teeth cleaned. After spending $500, my teeth still arent cleaned, COAST handed me a bill for $4, 000, 00 for peridontal treatment before they would clean my teeth. I called another dentist who told me they would clean my teeth for $85.00 plus $35.00 exam. I spent $500 at Coast, and 2 wasted trips.

I also have spend many dollars at Coast Dental. Because they have certain procedures, Coast Dental is not very senior friendly. I also was told, after sitting in the chair for an hour and a half that I would have to see a periodontist and have surgery and root planing. The doctor never came into the room and examined my mouth. Well, I said no and asked the hygenist if she would just clean my teeth. The answer was no, because it would spread bacteria. I left after they gave me a quote of $242.00 for a filling.

I went to my old dentist. I had my teeth examined and cleaned and made an appointment for the following week to have the filling taken care of. It will cost $114.00. That is without insurance.

I would not recommend Coast Dental to anyone.

As a visitor to Florida, I did not want to go all the way back home to have my teeth cleaned. So, I made an appointment with Coast Dental in Port Richey. They made an initial exam and took x-rays and then referred me to a periodontist because they claimed that I had periodontal disease. Since I have gone to the dentist twice a year, for at least the past 15 years, I thought that their diagnosis was doubtful.

I called my dentist at home and explained the situation to him. He reviewed my records and compared my most recent x-rays with those taken 4 years ago. He said he understood why Coast Dental came to conclusion that they did, as he had thought the same thing when I first went to him. Moreover, I saw a periodontist last year for another problem and there was no mention of periodontal disease.

My dentist explained the issue, which I then relayed to Coast Dental. I also gave them my dentist's name and phone number and asked them to give him a call. They refused outright and said that they would not clean my teeth unless I saw the periodontist.

They billed my insurance (they are a participating provider in my network) and then sent me a bill for more than the amount of my responsibility as indicated on the explanation of benefits from my insurer.

In addition, at the initial visit, they offered to perform a check for cancer at the rate of $50.00, which involved putting some type of solution in my mouth. I declined.

I mentioned this test to my regular dentist and in his opinion, if the solution that they use to test for cancer is what he thinks it is, it may itself be carcinogenic. Also, my regular dentist includes the cancer exam as part of the routine examination.

I have found that in Georgia, same as Florida, the dentest will not perform a general cleaning. They always insist they perform a deep cleaning test first, which always results in deep cleaning that generally costs approx. $250.00 per upper or lower side each. If you refuse the deep cleaning they will refuse to perform general cleaning. When you tell them you are the patient and the customer and you will decide the cleaning they simply refuse you service. They are all out to goudge the patient.
