I got my Chocolate Labrador from this breeder.
When we went for our first visit I asked if I could see the other 7 or 8 Chocolate Labradors she had. She did not want me to see them and gave me some kind of excuse in her broken English. I didn't realize at the time that this was a bad sign. She was hiding something. Any reputable breeder will show you their other dogs. This should have been the 1st RED FLAG.

She had been bred twice from what they told me and had had trouble with the second litter so they were selling her. I visited them twice and on my second visit took my dog home with me. Both visits the dog was UNCONTROLLABLY EXCITED to see people because she was kept in a basement room all by herself. Purportedly because she'd given birth a month prior and needed to be alone for some reason. Very suspicious. The dog seemed in dire need of company. 2nd RED FLAG.

During the first 3.5 months, my dog 'Mia' had at least THREE SEIZURES that I know of. When I asked the breeder about this, she denied that Mia had epilepsy or that she had even had seizures beforehand. To be fair, It is possible that a breed prone to seizures can develop them at 2-3 years of age. BUT when the whole picture of this situation is taken into consideration, I have serious doubts about this breeder. What is more likely is that this breeder knew that Mia had seizures OR was never with the dog and so would never see them occur!

Moreover, and not so serious, Mia vomits bile in the mornings if not given a healthy amount of food just before bed. The breeder DID NOT tell us about this. And not telling you is equal to LYING! We had no idea what was wrong at first. My veterinarian who is VERY good also mentioned that Mia had 'droopy eyelids'. And that a dog with this condition should NOT be bred. Mia was bred at least twice.

The breeder also would not answer questions about the Rabies vaccination that Mia had had. My vet had me ask her and she (the breeder) was entirely evasive and supposedly insulted.

This breeder decided to not continue talking with us at one point because of our questions and revelations about what was happening. This is a complete tell-tale sign, that she, the breeder, was irresponsible and a fraudulent woman.

To summarize:
SEIZURES
VOMITTING
ECTROPION (droopy lower eyelids)

AVOID and REPORT this breeder if you have had dealings with them.

I can't believe what I've just read!

Yvonne and Peter are responsible, honest, kind and caring people, who provided us with the sweetest, most perfect, and healthiest puppy we have ever had. We were not first time pet owners when we adopted our Parker, and were most impressed with the fact that WE had to pass stringent standards before being considered potential owners of one of their precious puppies! We will be forever grateful to Yvonne and Peter for all the joy and love they have brought to our family because of this very special four legged chocolate boy!

We are very happy with our experience with Clover Ranch. Our Chocolate Lab, now 8 years old just received an A+ on his vet visit and blood work. We couldn't be happier. We had a great visit at the ranch when choosing our puppy. Everything was disclosed to us. My husband and I were first time dog owners at the time, and feel that Yvonne gave us fantastic advice to live by with owning a dog. Our loving pet has the best personality and we thank Clover Ranch for such a fantastic breed. He is an awesome addition to our family. We also receive emails from Yvonne, who we feel is a caring breeder. Sorry your experiences with this breeder weren't what you had hoped for. Not everyone feels the same way. Our experience was a positive one!

I went to look at a dog at Clover Ranch. The lady was very nice on the phone but was very evasive in person. She would not let me see her other dogs or the kennel area. The dog I saw was underweight with a filthy coat. She would not answer questions about the health of the dog. When I suggested that the dog was in poor condition, she became very upset and called her husband. He threatened to call the cops if i didn't leave. I was pretty sure that one or both of them were under the influence of drugs. AVOID THIS BREEDER!

Dear A.Brynn, I just came along your review. Unfortunately we are shocked what you are writing. We never threatened somebody with the police. And you should be very careful saying we are under the influence of drugs. Our dogs where always healthy and had a shiny coat. We also where honest to all our puppy families and did our best in advice. However with breeding there is always a risk some dogs can develop health issues as everybody knows. We did all the health clearance with our breeding dog to minimise the risk. I can not recall to have met you, if so why are you coming forward now? We are happy there are lots of happy dog owners with a Clover Ranch puppy and gave them a wonderful home. And we always made sure the puppies are going to good homes, therefor we also declained some times dog buyers, which we felt are not able to give the puppy a good home. We where not a puppy mil, we cared for each puppy. We where breeding for 16 years and did our best for our dogs, puppies and the puppy families. We have retired since 2016 in good faith. To all puppy families whom where happy with our dogs we thank you for giving them loving and caring homes and to all they had a problem with one of our dogs, we apologize. To to all they play a game here I feel sorry for you. kind regards Yvonne

I'm very sorry you have had a bad experience with Clover Ranch Lab's. I however have nothing but wonderful things to say about this breeder. I have a dog who is 4 yrs old this week which is from Mia's first litter. She is extremely healthy and wonderfully natured. Yvonne always sends Happy Birthday emails to me...four years later. I am also a serious horse rider, and unfortunately breeding is not always positive. I hope Mia get onto a treatment that helps her have a healthy and long life. A. Walton

I too have had a bad experience with this breeder. I bought a pup from her 8 years ago and at 10.5 months she was diagnosed with hip diplaysia in both hips. The x-rays showed she was a stage 3 out of 4 on the left, and stage 1 on the right. My vet said the only thing that kept her together was the fact that I was regularly walked her which built her muscles up to hold her hips in place. I immediately called the breeder and more or less I was to blame. I even sent her vet the x-rays and was told "it was due to over work from rough play". REALLY!? The only way that would be a reason is if I had taken my puppy up & down the CN Tower stairs 4 times! The breeder was very upset with me and even said my pup was overweight, NOT! The suggestion was made to send the pup back to her and she would replace it with another one, from the same parents, yeah, I don't think so! Everyone knows that HP is a hereditary condition. Needless to say I wasn't going to get anywhere so I eventually dropped it.

You cant blame a common issue for labs on the dog breeder. Just because you didnt do any research into the dog you were aquiring does not mean the breeder somehow pulled a fast one on you. Not every dog lives a long life. Just as not every human lives into they're 90's. I myself had a puppy named jake which was purchased from this breeder in 2005 who lived to 13 before surcumbing to the same affliction. HD is worsened by over use, and your vet was only saying that the muscle was helping. What were they going to say? That what you did/were doing was actually expediting the situation?

CloverRanch (Labrador Dog Breeders) Needs reported cause this breeder has some issues and possibly she should be shut down and forbidden to breed dogs all together
check with a animal control or some place who can help you.

I got a dog from this breeder as well. I didn't have a lot of experience with buying a retired dog from a breeder but I really liked the pictures of her dogs online. I have to say the dog I brought home is quit frankly the best dog I have ever owned. We didn't have to train her in any respect as she was already well trained...I sincerely doubt the dog trained herself in solitary confinement. She is very calm, well mannered and most importantly, healthy. Not only that but the breeder continues to contact us to enquire about the dog's health and well - being. I am so thankful for the wonderful dog we got from this breeder and I would not think twice to recommend this breeder to anyone.

Your complaint seems like slander if you have no evidence to back up the fraud people need to be careful what the write even on these message boards.
Also what dog isnt overly excited to see its owner? I think you were thinking of cats.

Slander indeed. Just venting to anyone that will listen. When you start off your "complaint" with insults about the persons "broken english", like everyone who lives in canada must speak english flawlessly, you know it is nothing but a personal attack. Reputable breeders, like this one, do not flog sick dogs off onto people potentially damaging they're reputation. They do what any other breeder/farmer would do and youthanize them. Somehow people are under the influence that pets should come with a warrantee like a TV. The whole story stinks of BS.
