CitiMortgage they stole my money

Several months after I closed on a refinance, I was checking some numbers and found $200 of financing that was not accounted for. My mortgage documents said I paid $1000 in prepaid interest, but when I pulled up my Citimortgage account, it said they only collected $800 in prepaid interest. Looking into this became a 5 month long hunt, spending well over 100 hours on the phone with Citimortgage, most of it on hold. It, obviously, became less bout the money, and more about the point of the issue, that they would REFUSE to account for that extra $200. I finally got them to concede that they owed me that money, which started another 3 month process of trying to get it back. First they said it was held by the closing attorney, who then showed me documentation that Citimortgage had 3 months earlier requested that the attorney send that money back to them. Then Citimortgage claimed they never got the check, even though I had a copy of the check which had been cancelled and deposited in the Citimortgage pockets. Again, it took no less than 50 additional phone calls, leaving un-returned voicemail messages, talking to supervisors, who now were telling me that the person to whom the check was sent, and a Citimortgage address, was not a Citimortgage employee. I'm sure it was one of those rogue tricksters that go around pretending to be mortgage company employees, collecting money from unsuspecting Citimortgage customers, and depositing that money in the Citimortgage pockets!

So, several months later...they REFUSED to issue me a refund of that money, but did agree to put that money towards the principal of my loan, so at least the money is accounted for again. If they took $200 from each of their customers (most of whom would either never know it, or not have the tenacity to get it back), how much money would they be pocketing?

I even tried to find somebody that I could complain to, and they would not even direct me to a complaint department. There was absolutely nowhere for me to vent, or get an apology, or "I'm sorry, we'll try to serve you better in the future"!

That is why I am posting here. Bottom line: Watch your money CLOSELY, because even big name companies which we trust will take any chance they can to stick it to you!

CitiMortgage property assessment scam

I'm going through the same dilemma with citiMortage since they acquired ABN... discrepancies in my escrow account, proposed property tax increases that are not valid with the Placer County Assessor's office, not to mention the language barrier with citiMortgage's middle eastern rude representatives... what is our legal recourse for this?

Complaints sould be sent to The Office of Thrift Supervision a branch of treas.gov go figure, you complain to the guys that just handed them $45 billion in one month. Not to mention what they've stolen from nonsuspecting consumers. Newspaper, or ClassAction. I wonder what real change is in store for next year. Government could hand out large boxes so people could live in and keep the Box companies in the country. Imagine the interest rate and price guaging on a box. You know we're going to have to start paying for air soon. Go Green

Oh my gosh! I am having the same problem. Thank goodness I decided to get on this complaint 'bandwagon'. my money is in their accounts but since it isnt the 'new' amount ($120 more) the computer isnt taking it. Excuse me? I have spoken to every department there. I was told by the only kind person I have spoken to there that I need to monthly call the Loss Midigation department and tell them my story...blah blah blah. They are 45 to 50 days behind. And my property tax went down. so this morning I am about to maker my upteenth call to them, talk to Sahib or whatever he decides to call himself and explain. What can we do?

CitiMortgage fraudulent

Citifinancial Mortgage Company Inc lost/misapplied my March 2008 payment. I received a letter saying I was 25 days past due. I called them, got someone who did NOT speak English, explained to them that I made the payment, it cleared my bank and I could provide them a copy of my check, front and back to prove it. I spoke to a supervisor named Dave who said I should fax it to [protected]. I did just that 1st thing the next morning. I then started getting annoying phone calls all hours of the evening/night from the collections dept. I re-explained the situation (feels like a million times) and each time was promised they would look into it. Each time I spoke to a different representative, I requested that notes be added to my account so everyone would know that the problem was being worked on. After two weeks of no resolution and TONS of phone calls, I spoke to a supervisor named Brigitte who had me fax the same documentation AGAIN to [protected]. Once again, I got a bunch of BS promises that were never fulfilled. I then spoke to another representative that gave me a different fax number to send my info to [protected] and that conversation was followed up by a letter requesting the same info. On it was an actual name of a person (surprise). When I called the phone number on the letter, it turned out to be an "invalid number". I faxed in my documentation proving the payment was made a total of 10 times, I have spoken to more people than I can count and yet I can't get a SINGLE person at Citifinancial to do their job. Meanwhile I am getting threatening letters stating they will foreclose, they will accelerate the loan, my credit is being affected AND to add insult to injury, they have my money and I have done NOTHING wrong. Citifinancial is a fraudulent company that is probably to blame for the so-called home foreclosure crisis. If they are doing this to me, they are doing it to others. Someone needs to do something about this!

Citi Mortgage has charge me over $900.00 in deliquency fees, posted my bill as nonpaid, changed the number to my account, raised my percentage rate from 7% to 10% with re-negotiating my contract. I know I need a mortgage lawyer to sue them. If anyone reading this can help, please send me an email. I will be filing and calling to complain about this company. We need a class action against them.

They are doing the same thing to me.
Only difference is they bought my loan from a different company!
They are horrible to deal with and continue to promise and never deliver. They do not care about their customers at all.

I agree with everyone on this comment board and I am so sorry to hear about all the trouble that you are all having. This is the reason I started my company. I have helped several people that have mortgages with ASC, Countrywide, and other mortgage companies that don't seem to care if they harass people or suck them dry. The comments I have heard are along the lines of trying to get blood from a stone or turnip, or something like that.

Contrary to what some people have said on here, I am not trying to be one of those people I mentioned above. My company is a nationwide company that provides services for people that are at the end of their rope. One of the helpful things that we provide is letting you know, before payment for service, if we can assist you and if we can not. If we can not, we tell you why not and what can be done to allow our company to assist you. Most companies won't do that, but we will also give you the reasons why exactly so that, if you should choose a different service, they will not be able to scam you. Now that's a way of saving money too.

I have a service that actually will take you out of the loop of contact with ASC, or Countrywide or whomever you have servicing your loan. All you have to do is tell me how we can help you. By that I mean, tell us what you are looking for us to do for you and we will pursue the help that you want, no matter what. We have all aspects of the mortgage business covered from being a mortgage mediation company, a title company, a real estate company, all the way to having access to attorneys for litigation or help to avoid foreclosure. No aspect of help is turned away.

Let me tell you, most of the customers that I deal with have told me about the fear and the frustration of working with mortgage companies that don't seem to care or give them the runaround. To be totally fair, mortgage companies have their ways of dealing with people. Some are good, some are horrible. But one thing all mortgage companies love is being vague. When they are vague, they don't have to give you information until you ASK for it. How does that help you? How can you try to save your home if you don't know how to ask the right questions?

That’s another reason why I created this company. I take your number out of their "system". When they mail you something, it goes to me. I take the burden away from you so you can live your life without the phone calls and the letters. And the rudeness! Oh, man, if I told you some of the stories I have heard...let's just say, it’s not pretty.

I know that some people are going to look at this comment and go, this guy is trying to drum up business. Well, you're right. But here's the kicker. I used to work in mortgage collections. I used to make the phone calls and send the letters. I used to work around the people that make your lives hell. And I kept asking myself, why? Why are these people not being told about the help that’s readily available? Why are these people not being helped to make payment arrangements that are realistic? Why does this company care more about the money than about customer service when that is supposed to be their primary objective?

That's why I got out. I can not stand collections. Just because they are hiding behind a company name they think that they can say anything or act anyway they like with the customers, being friendly with one and the next 40-50 they can treat like crap. Where is the customer service?

I take all that frustration away from you and create solutions that work. I know that it may be hard to swallow, but I do. I have done it for several people. And I can do it for you too. If you want more specifics or just want to talk to me, call my office at [protected] and check out the website, which is being updated with a few new options available. And this isn't just for people facing foreclosure, people that are current and want to pay off their home early, call me. I can and will help as many people as I am able to. What have you got to lose? Website address is http://www.onlybusiness.com/members/RealtyMediationService...and if not for you, best of luck. In all your endeavors.

CitiMortgage inaccurate information given regarding insurance check reimbursement

We received an insurance check for water damage to our home. The check was made out to us, and to citimortgage. I called to find out the protocol for handling the check. I was told to endorse the check, send it along with a letter stating that it was for water damage, and what I wanted done with the check. I chose to have the check applied to our payment. I also sent a personal check to go with the insurance check. Two nights ago I was called stating they were sending the checks back to me.
I spent the next several hours talking to 10 different people, receiving a variety of stories from them, including, we have sent your personal check to the mortgage payment department, we are not endorsing the insurance check, and sending it back to you, we are sending both checks back to you, you need to have other documents to go along with the insurance check. Not one person listened to what I had to say. They continued to repeat the same stuff, totally disregarding the fact that I was not given all the information their computer said I was given. That is why I called in the first place, was to get the proper information to send along with the check. Now our mortgage payment is late, and the checks are in the mail to me. All they had to do was to forward the checks to the mortgage department. They created all sorts of drama attempting to seem like they were doing something. Not one person took this issue and handled it. If I could get my loan away from citimortgage I would. We recently refinanced our home, and our note was sold to them. No personal relationship, which we do have with our local banker. It is a sad state of affairs when companies like citimortgage waste my time, not to mention the time of the company, in handling simple transactions. We repaired the damage with our own money, because if we had waited for the insurance check our entire home would be covered in mold. The lack of caring customer service is appauling to me.

CitiMortgage outsourcing is the biggest mistake made in america

This is ridiculous.

Every time I call Citimortgage to discuss my account, I get some foreigner who barely speaks English. They don't understand my issue and/or concern and what *** me off the most is the fact that they can only respond with what’s on the paper in front of them.

It's one thing to service your customers by being attentive and addressing there concerns, but its a whole other thing when you "know" a person is reading from a script and repeating themselves over and over again.

Totally *** me off - I live in America not India!

You are correct. When calling you ask to speak to a rep. in the USA. This will get you transferred back here. But the customer service is still lousy. I have an ongoing issue with a tax payment not made. Been at this since July and it's now thru Sept. I wouldn't recommend Citi, due to no customer service.

I've consistently received poor customer service from Citimortgage and find the foreign customer service staff very frustrating to deal with. They do not appear to understand my midwestern accent, I guess, as they usually answer questions I am not asking. They will also try to take advantage of you if you try to delete (eliminate) their escrowing your property taxes. They will tell you there will be a fee for this and they don't want to say what the fee is over the phone. If you get tired of their games, ask to speak to a supervisor. I did this, told them if they are going to charge a fee to delete my escrow account, that I will just refinance with a company that doesn't require that I escrow my taxes. Suddenly, the supervisor will respond with "there is no fee". I got that resolved, was still tired of the offshore customer service and moved the business to Countrywide. There I can call, they are Americans speaking English and they address questions promptly and accurately. Hopefully their customer service won't go downhill with the Bank of America buying them out.

CitiMortgage Bad service and processes

Refinanced my existing CitiMortgage thru a broker, hoping to get away from Citi (overall company, not just mortgage arm), but alas, broker placed me with CitiMortgage. Closed with title company on 28May.
- Advised Citi to stop auto-payment on 26th, which they did, after initially telling me it was too late, for May 1st, as per broker.
- Citi sent the wrong amounts for paying off old mortgage, so had to re-sign several docs on 29th.
- Title companied funded on May 2.
- On May 10th, Citi sent me notification that my mortgage had been paid off, and that I was now responsible for escrow (insurance/taxes) - which is not what I asked to have setup.
- On May 20th, I rec'd notification that I owed them a May payment! No, I don't, since my new mortgage, according the paperwork I have starts on 01Jun08. I am reading this on 29May08, payday, when I am ready to pay bills.
- Called Citi (29May), and all they could say was "you owe us money". I tried to explain that I'm paid up to June 1st, via title company. Instead of listening to me, I was told that I needed to contact the title company.
- After thinking about it overnight, I realized they must have paid off the new mortgage, not the old mortgage. Made no sense, but it was the only answer.
- In the morning (30May), looked at all of the various bits of paperwork. (Note - No one has told me what my loan # is for the new mortgage.) Sure enough, the pay-off letter was for a loan# starting with 2005 that I have no record of. The old loan started with 2001. The letter stating I've not paid is for the 2001# loan.
- While all this is happening, I start getting mysterious phone calls from the 636 area code (Missouri), but they hang up, or the call converts to hold music, etc. - I never actually get to talk to anyone.
- Also while this is happening, I'm getting e-mails from Citi group saying essentially "you are one of our best customers, we're working hard to improve, we want to let you know what's going on". Uh-huh. The e-mails claim to want to let me know what's going on - yet they say *nothing*. I am none the wiser for reading them.
- A friend from my old office (who has my old extension) calls me to let me know someone from 636 area code called, but wouldn't identify themselves. Weird - same area code calling my house and hanging up! Is there a connection?
- I call Citi again - this time, I understand how to make them pay attention. I explain the situation. Again, I get "you owe us money". So I ask "what is the start date of that loan?" and I get the response: 2004. Next question: "Look up this other account, and tell me the start date of that mortgage". Answer: 2008. BINGO! Now the light bulb goes off on this thick-headed, un-cutomer oriented business.
- After leaving me on hold for an extended amount of time, they now tell me to fix it, by calling my title company. Hello! Anybody home? No, I'm not doing that. I, as calmly as possible, tell them "I've signed everything I have to, I've paid everything I have to - this is your problem, you people fix it."
- I was then transferred to another department where I had to explain the problem again. They put me on hold again, but finally come back and say they can fix it on their end, all should be fixed by 06Jun08, and in the meantime the new loan amount will come out on 02Jun08, with the correct escrow, and that they will retract the credit reporting sent in saying I was in a non-payment situation. They also said I will have paperwork to confirm all of above by around 12Jun08.
- Suddenly the mysterious area coded 636 phonecalls make sense. I look up Citi, and sure enough, the mortgage arm is based in...wait for it...Missouri!
- I call them back again (still 30May08) and ask them what phone #s they have for me...wrong, wrong, wrong. Get them updated. I ask why I can go thru two mortgages, with correct phone #s on all docs, and they don't have them updated in their records. I'm told "you can go on line and update them". One of us missed the point - and it wasn't me.
- I don't understand why, when they have my correct e-mail address, when they couldn't contact me at old phone#s, that they wouldn't e-mail me and say "we can't contact you, perhaps we have old phone#s, please call us". Note: I did get a communication saying "we've been trying to call you, but we seem to be getting mixed up with marketers". This was an unclear communication, which I did ignore, assuming they had nothing of value for me to hear.
- Now, on 31May08, I've reached the end of my patience with these people, thus sparking this complaint. I got a phone call this morning, telling me my May payment is still owing.
- I really tried to remain calm - but honestly - how much more must I bear? I told the women in a somewhat crusty tone that I don't owe them a cent, gave her the two tracking case #s from yesterday, told her to read them and call me if she had further questions, thank you very much and goodbye" at which point I disconnected.
- I actually feel a bit bad about being somewhat abrupt, because truly, their customer service people are very nice - that is the one bright spot at Citi - they have done a very good job of training their staff to manage irritated customers, and stay in control of the call, and remain cheerful thru the complaints, which is not at all easy to do. Too bad they aren't empowered to actually fix the problems, and the machinations behind the reps are poor.

Another update to my original complaint post:
It's now 01Jun, 2008 and so far today I've rec'd 2 phone calls telling me I owe CitiMortgage money. They've progressed though, as they thanked me for finally making my May payment, but told me they now need to collect their June payment (due today). I'm not sure why they are already calling me for June, when I am not even technically late - I must be on their naughty list. Although I am trying not take it out on the poor service rep, I am pointing out, as of today, that the phone calls point out the general ineptitude of CitiMortgage specifically and CitiGroup in general, them to read the cases I have open, and call me back if they have any questions. I'm past being upset and moving toward plain old ### - not a really great place for a company to push a client to. It's been a very stressful weekend due to this company.
I am expecting this to linger into July. This company still has to do the following:
1) Correct the mess - reinstate "new" mortgage, pay-off "old" mortage.
2) Adjust everything so I don't get a huge bill saying I owe them money.
3) Stop the "old" autopayment.
4) Start the "new" autopayment.
5) Ensure escrow for taxes/insurance gets done for "new" mortgage.
6) Pay taxes on 01Aug, 2008.

There's still lots of room for bad customer service here. I see much stress in my future.

Update by Dee
May 31, 2008 7:34 am EDT

This is an addition to the post I just made. It gets worse. After writing this complaint, it struck me that they are probably going to try to remove 2 mortgage payments this month - one for old mortgage and one for new mortage. Uh-oh. I'm on the phone with them now, trying to make sure that does not happen. (It sounds like it was setup to happen, based on conversation so far - but not yet conclusive.) Shouldn't they have caught this the other day when I opened my original cases with them? I think so. I'm not the mortgage industry specialist - they are! They should know to clean up this stuff.
- If they do withdraw a double payment it is going to cause all sorts of other problems (bank fees!) and probably more collections phone calls.

Just sign me "extremely distressed".

The Research Services phone numbers are like gold. If you call and ask for anybody in Research Services you will be told there are no contact numbers.

If you call in through the India call center always ask for an “American Accounts Representative”. Then ask for their supervisor. Demand a call back number otherwise you will be talking to a different person every time you call in.

Document every call. Otherwise they may try to pull something on you.

Be a squeaky wheel. CALL, CALL and CALL. They will always be polilte and say things like “we are working on it” or “we’ll expedite this or that” but DON’T assume they will.

CitiMortgage incident

I paid my mortgage in march on citi mortages web site. Citi morgage doubled my payment and explained it as a glitch in there system. The also stated that it would take a minimum of five business days for them to credit the unauthorized amount back to me. I told them not to credit it back to me as I was $900 over drawn already because of this and stated that I would simply dispute this charge at my personal bank. I did this to avoid further overdrafts and penalties. While in the process of disputing the unauthorized amount citi refunded the unauthorized amount. I then dissolved the dispute with my bank and they in turn refunded citi the disputed amount. I then found out due to collection phone calls that citi never posted the refunded amount from the dispute to my account. I then contacted my bank and sent them the ACH tracking number so they could credit it to my account. They were given the ACH # and my personal bank statements on the 25 of March so they could send it to there research department. I have since been in contact with three people Jona, her supervisor Dihn, and now his supervisor Nancy Fuentez. All of the above stated will not answer the phone when I call nor will they return messages left for them (example I left Nancy three messages yesterday and two already today. Meanwhile I am receiving collection phone calls at home and at work! I'm receiving collection notices in the mail. And they have reported to the credit bureau three separate 30 days late. I'm running out of options to resolve this situation since they will no longer communicate with me PLEASE HELP.

Totally disagree - To say CitiMortgage is inept is a gross UNDERSTATEMENT! Their business practices would have to improve dramatically to classify only as inept. I've had them unilaterally convert my funds to their own purposes on numerous occasions.

CitiMortgage payoff, prepayment penalty, interest

Citimortgage is run by a bunch of ignorant idiots and scam artists. I had a 5 year ARM loan. In February I sold the property before the 5 years was up and in my original papers I do not have to pay a prepayment penalty because I sold the property instead of refinancing. Two weeks before the closing I started calling the customer service number about the payoff amount and the prepayment penalty. They said that if I sent them a sale contract that they would FAX me a payoff statement stating the payoff without the prepayment penalty. After a week and a half and talking to about 8 different people, most of whom I could barely understand because their accent was so thick, I was told they hadn't received my FAXs. The first person I talked to gave me a FAX number but 4 days later I was told the previous FAX was wrong and I got another FAX number. Then 4 days after that by still another person I was told that FAX # was also wrong and that the first FAX # was right. By then it was the week of the closing and I needed a payoff statement. I finally got the payoff statement but it had the prepayment penalty on it and I was not supposed to be paying that $2000 plus. I was frustrated and just mad by then so the supervisor told me she would call the lawyers office and tell them it was okay to subtract the prepayment penalty from the payoff. The lawyers were hesitant to do this because they wanted something in writing but they did as the supervisor said and we had the closing and they sent Citimortgage a check minus the prepayment penalty. Nearly 3 weeks later the lawyers office got the check back because Citimortgage said the prepayment penalty wasn't on it. Of course, Citimortgage didn't know who the female supervisor was (my fault because I didn't get her name, I DO now). They finally said they would drop the prepayment penalty but I had to pay interest because I hadn't sent in the sales contract before the closing, and the interest was adding up every day since the closing. But I had FAXed in the contract twice the week before the closing but they wanted proof that I had. Where I am now is I have found proof that the contract was FAXed to them the week before the closing, like I said, and I am trying to get someone on the phone that can help me get this settled (although I don't think anyone there has the sense to do this and the ones that do are just trying to steal my money.) We have done everything those thieves have told us to do but this still isn't solved. Every single person I talked to told me something different including the supervisors. I am probably going to have to end up paying the interest and I am NOT going to be happy but what else can I do!

CitiMortgage escrow check bounced!

I refinanced my home. Abn amro sent my escrow to me in the form of a check on february 10, 2008. I deposited the check into my account and it bounced. Abn amro told me that they were sorry about the mistake but they reissued the check. The check was for 2371.66. The check was not reissued. They have told me several different stories. I have talked to 10 different people. They have not reissued the check. I also incurred $150.00 worth of nsf fees associated with the check bouncing. They will not give me the phone number of a supervisor. They keep telling me that they will call me or to call their customer service number. This is terrible!

My mortgage was taken over by Citi Mortgage from Waterfield in Indpls IN. The monthly payment is deducted from my Key Bank account in only my name (Mary C. Gentry). It has always been listed this way. Somehow when Citi Mortgage took the account from Waterfield, my former husband"s name (Moore) is now on my account. I have been divorced since 1996, and now I am supposed to do all the work to get this removed. It never was listed in the Moore name. Why should I need to get all the paperwork to remove this mistake? Why are they taking the payments from the account that is mine Gentry and crediting Gentry-Moore?

CitiMortgage scam and stealing!

CitiGroup bought my loan back in November of 06 and ever since then it has been a nightmare. They first stated off ok till they lost $500. They found it in someone else account. Then back in July of last year they lost $1000 still haven't found it and when my bank talked to them and asked why i wasn't up to date all they could say is i haven't paid this months bill. you see the part that confused me and my bank is all my payments are made though bill pay. My bank is trying to help them and tell them that the payments were sent out and that they received them and they wish all the late fees to be taken off my account and off my credit report.

And as far as we can see is all the payments have been made. Well i have now received a new letter stating that its not just $1000 in default but $2000! This company should be put out of business i though when you buy a home it should be good a joyous as long as you do your part of the deal... i guess not when Citi is involved!

This is the worst company in the world and no one should do business with them!

i have had this company since 06 and its been nothing but trouble from day one. This time they have hit below the belt, going through a modification loan and not any of the 50 plus people we dealt with could give us the same answer. While waiting for all the paper work to get to the right people are home was sold out from under us. We found out the home was bought by Citigroup.inc . we are still getting paper work from citimortgage that our loan is still being looked at . Doing every thing we were told to do by this company has left me my wife and four kids with no place to live and destroyed my credit.

Citimortgage SCAMS! They sent me a bill for escrow shortage, telling me because my taxs went up and my house payment was going up. I called the township that i live in and my taxs went down. I then called [censored]ymortgage and was told they assumed my taxs were going up a 04% increase due to inflation, the township told me inflation for this year is 1.023%. I then called [censored]ymortgage again and told them what my taxs are for the year and i want my payment to reflect the increase of 1.023% and not there charge of 04% and was pretty much told to get f ed. I told the representative that i refuse to make a payment that is more than my current payment and until they lower my payment back to what it was i will not be paying them.

Citibank is a real nightmare to deal with. I scheduled my April mortgage payment by E-mail, because they left Puerto Rico and I don't have anywhere to deposit my mortgage payment, and they did not process my check . They told me that it was returned by the bank, but the bank statement does not show any returned checks. They told me to fax them the evidence and their fax number does not answer. How can such an institution still in business?

Citi Mortgage bought out our loan in 06 as well. Started off fine then to quote Citi they "missapplied a couple of our extra payments" Our records from the bank corrected them. Then a few months later we recieved an incorrect statement and were told to just cross out what was wrong and right down what was right, then they would correct it. Then after repeating this problem over and over again for 3 months it still wasn't accurate. During the 3 months we were making our payments to them with statements that had incorrect numbers crossed out on them. We come home one day and find a legal notice from an attorneys office that we were reported 6 months behind in our payments and that our home was in forclosure. We called the attorney immediately and explained the situation to them. Told them that we never get a straight answer and that we need get the same person twice even though we ask and have their operator number. The attorney looked at the file I had of statements and bank verified statements and said that is the worst case of "missapplied funds" he had since and it was obvious to him that we didn't belong in forclosure. The contacted Citi and it took Citi a week to get back to us. We are no longer in forclosure, however it is been 2 long months and they still don't have our principle balance corrected, our year end tax statement corrected and they still are missing one of our double payments that the bank can verfiy Citi recieved. Plus Citi is charging me 1,400 in third party fees due to the forclosure process. Our credit report is showing that we are 6 months behind still. When I call Citi they just transfer me from department to department. I get the same thing that we are working on it and some one in another department will get it noted and corrected for me. This happens over and over again. This has been a nightmare, if we didn't have clear records of this I think that it would have destroyed my marriage, because I do the books and it is hard to believe that a company could be so far wrong over and over again with their records. I am sorry to see so many other people experiencing the same nightmare as us. This company should close their doors for the horrible way they handle business.

CitiMortgage - scam and fraud!

In 7/06 I originated a course of construction loan through a local bank. During the closing of the coc loan we had to determine an amount of the loan based on costs. We did the loan for the full amount which was not quite the 80% LTV that we needed. Our originator said we could stop the draws once we reached the 80% LTV... which we did. We closed the...

CitiMortgage terrible experience!

CitiMortgage messed up my Escrow account and my taxes did not get paid. I found out less than a month before the date the county was scheduled to claim my property. I called and opened a ticket and the money was in my escrow account. I was told the issue would be resolved in 24 hours. I called back a couple of day later, only to find out the ticket was closed and no one knew anything more. So they opened up a new ticket and this time told me there was no way to resolve this quickly. We escalated the ticket, but that didn't help. They told me NOT to go pay the taxes, that they would research it and take care of everything. They said they would call me back; no one ever did. Finally, within days of the county claiming my property, I went and paid the taxes myself. It's been over a month PAST the final due date and no one ever contacted me and I still cannot tell if they did anything at all. I would expect to at least see a credit, a notation, SOMETHING on my account, but I do not.I can't believe how out of hand this got! Now I want to cancel my escrow account and they want to charge me $500! This is ridiculous. I didn't make a mistake. I was told escrow was optional. $500 doesn't sound optional to me.

I have had my Citimorgage account for a couple of years and yes I have had the same issues with the rate hikes on “taxes”. I called the local tax office and they say the amout they get is around half what Citi claims to be paying out in taxes. I have sent several faxes to Citi with NO response. I wish everyone that has this issue would call the local news stations and show the rest of the public what kind of crap they are pulling. I too had my original mortgage bought out by Citi and the tax problem came up within a couple of months after they took over the loan. Will the BBB help in this issue? I don’t have the money to have my payment raised two time a year.

Any suggestions to help me out of the Citimortgage grip.

did you ever resolve your issue with citimortgage? They have not paid my property taxes for 8 months, and give me the run around. They always say"you need to wait..." Amount due went up from 229 to 304. They claim to have sent payment but County shows nothing! What a nightmare. First American is the third-party involved, but they are not helpfule either. Who can help ?!?!

Any suggestion on dealing with them, tips?

My wife and I just bought a house at the end of February and still have not made a single payment. Our loan was sold to CitiMortgage and we received an escrow account statement in the mail, not only are they escrowing our home insurance (which they were NOT supposed to do) they claim that our taxes this year are $22, 000 (on a $177, 000 new construction property) and our monthly payments are increasing by $3, 000.

We are currently working through this issue, I hope it gets resolved soon, but after doing some research today my hope is fading.

I purchased a new home back in Oct. The title company paid the 2007 taxes at closing. I recieved an escrow analysis from CitiMortgage, who purchased my loan back in Dec. They have increased my payments $400 a month. They stated that they paid the 2007 taxes out of my escrow but since my 1st payment was in Dec., my escrow was not enough to cover the taxes. I did some research with the county tax office and they have NO record of Citi ever paying anything. Citi should Never have paid ANYTHING since the taxes were already paid back in Oct. I am a little scared since I have been researching complaints with this company and have seen MANY like this. They say they opened an investigation into this and it should be resolved in a week. I just pray that they get this resolved before my payment is increased. With all this paperwork that I have stating that the taxes were already paid, am I cleared from having to pay this extra $400 or should I wait and see what happens and get an attorny if needed? I am a 1st time home buyer an would really like some advice. PLEAS HELP!

I believe you are entitled after that type of screw up to request that your escrow account be returned to you for processing without a fee. If I were you I would open a claim with the Attorney General's Office and request a cease and desist order under fair debt and collections practices act. Also ask for reimbursment of any and all fees associated with the mistake and demand that the escrow account be placed in your custody. I would also demand an inconvenience fee for the headache and hassle that was associated with this mistake.

CitiMortgage monthly house payment!

I purchased my home in 2005 and had an adjustable rate. When the rates started to increase I refinanced to have a 30 year fixed rate. When I refinanced I also had them add my impounds for taxes and insurance. My house payment was about $2800.00 per month for everything. The mortgage company reviewed my account and found that there was an error and not enough was added to my impound account so my payment went up to $3597.35. In August my husband called and talked to Christina and she informed him that our last payment of this amount would be December 2007 and at that time my payment for January would go back to normal.

When I received my January statement it still stated that my house payment would be $3597.35. I told my husband to call and find out why we were still paying this amount. He told me that when he called that they are evaluating our account and a new statement would go out in a few days. I waited a week and called and talk to April who is the escrow specialist and she told me that they are still in the process but I still had to pay that amount because nothing would be changed until March of 2008. She also stated that taxes and insurance can always change. I understand that but this had nothing to do with a change in my taxes or insurance this was an error. I also understand that taxes can change every year, but not this much.

I told her that the whole story about the error with the refinancing and we were told our last payment would be December of 2007. She stated that her notes doesn't state that. I also told her that the $3597.35 was killing us financially and because of error that someone made when refinancing our loan. She stated that if I wait until January 20, 2008 that I could possibly have my payment changed then but if I don't pay my house payment by the 30th of January they would report me to the credit bureau and if I don't pay my house payment by the 16th of January I would have to pay a late fee of $124.86 on top of that. She said that there is nothing that they can do.

I have a family to raise and it is my responsibility to pay my house payment every month but I find it unfair that I have to suffer at the hands of an error and the callousness of a company that just doesn't care and they will do whatever they want to do at my expense. It is very disturbing with all that is going on in this country with homes that are in foreclosure, that you would think that this mortgage company would be more preceptive in resolving this matter.

All I would like to do is have an immediate resolution and not have to wait on a company to figure out what they are doing. I shouldn't have to suffer for another 3 months. I also think that the answer "there is nothing I can do" is good enough and all I requesting is facts. I have been paying my mortgage payment every month and I have not been reported to the credit bureau due to non payment. Since I feel that I am in good standing I shouldn't be treated in this fashion.

Any immediate assistance would be most appreciated.

Sincerely,

Caren Miller

Unresponsive! I faxed exactly what they wanted 21 days ago. Crickets. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I will cancel my Citibank credit card as I do not want to do business with terrible company. I will stick with American Express and Chase for my credit cards, but this case is regarding an overpayment on a mortgage pay off from my deceased parents.
