CitiMortgage escrow account/payment increase

Citimortgage, Inc. did not follow the original Escrow Schedule that was with the original loan when they bought our loan. They did not put enough money into escrow, had extra money because hazard insurance was $243.00 less than original amount noted in the loan, cannot and will not account for that money. Because they did not put enough money in the Escrow account, our mortgage payment went up almost $200.00 a month. I was under the impression that they have to follow the original terms of the loan upon receiving it. Also, we applied for a loan modification only to find out we were not eligible for one until we were 3 or 4 payments behind; we did not want to fall behind and go into foreclosure. After receiving erroneous information from several Citimortgage reps, we ended up putting our home in our Chapter 7 Bankruptcy because Citimortgage left us no choice. They were not being honest with us. The value of the home went down and we were afraid they might slap us with a deficiencey mortgage. We would have tried to save the home, but we felt that we couldn't trust Citimortgage, Inc. Now, we just need some time to save money to rent.

CitiMortgage escrow real estate taxes

Back in April of 2009 we recevied our tax bill I had questions and called out tax board in our county and told them my question and the answered it I told them I would see them on Monday. My husband and I went down on Monday and found out that some stupid bean counter in citimortgage took out a proptry that was to be in out mortgage escorw account and put another one in that we bought the end of last year without any notice to us. This is now June 25 2009 and I am still trying to talk to someone.

Out of fustration and crying my blood sugars are now very high and the dr wants to put me on med and I will not go on them because one phone call from a person called Brook would lower them.

After two months of CS crap I finaly told them they had two weeks to get this straght or they would be talking to a lawyer and then we would see how fast this would be taken care of, I was put on hold for a few min. and then Brook came on line. I told her all that had happend and was put on hold again, when she came back I told her about the two week plan and she told me that it would all be taken care of by June 15, 2009.

I waited for her call on the 15 and nothing, I called her and two days later she called but I was not home she told my husband that thing were made right and by the end of the month the county would have the money and that if I had any more questions please call her back. I have questions and I have called her three time with no calls back from Brook.

This is a load of crap. I am still waiting to find out what property is in my Escrow account and have they asked for the money back for the property they paid on and what was my total tax bill this year. I know next year will be different because we encluded two of the three property we bought last year into the one they took out this year.

I know this story will be the same next year come tax time. but I am 62 and I want to see lots more birthday without all the fuss from this dam company they are getting as bad as B/A.

It's time to file a federal complaint against Citi. Go to the website of the Comptroller of the Currency and of the FTC; both have complaint forms. Visit the website of your Secretary of State; there should be resources there to report mortgage fraud. That's what this is - FRAUD. Before you start on the forms, write out a simplified timeline of what happened to you - it will make filling out the forms easier. Citi doesn't care if we sue them; they have dozens of attorneys on staff. What they DON'T want is to have to defend countless federal complaints. Make the effort, and make Citi pay!

I am having the very same issue right now. I cannot get anyone to help me! What do we do? Where do we go? Citimortgage paid a tax that was not even for my property and it was 3 times what my normal tax will be. The County is suppose to be sending them the portion back that was over paid however, what am I suppose to do in the mean time? Who can afford a $2000 house payment in which they went up on due to the erroneous tax payment. I have gotten a lawyer involved and that doesn't seem to make a difference. I cannot get past a customer service representative to speak to anyone in authority...What are we to do?

CitiMortgage escrow review

I have been trying to get my escrow reviewed now since Monday the 18th of May. I have called the so called customer service dept. on several occasions and continually get the run araound. I have been told they lost papaer work or that I never sent them anything. After I told them I had the fax confirmation they told me there was no need to resend that they would call my couty apraisal office and get the info for them selves. On the next call I was told that I could not speak to directly to the escrow office and that an urgent help ticket would be opened to get this resolved. I called again to check status I was transferred to the escrow office that doesn't take calls. HMMM. They are now telling me that no information will be available until June 2nd. Which happens to be after my house payment is due. Convenient isn't it? At the end of all three call with them knowing that I am already agry they feal it apropriate to offer me a credit card. Seriously they can't even keep my mortgage accurate and they want me to give them more of my money. Not to mention the money doesn't even stay in the US anyway. These peaople need to be shut down due to a complete lack of competence.

I agree with you.Bought my house 8 months ago with a fixed APR for 30 years...I just found out that in this month they increased my escrow by $700.00 dollars and they do not why! They told me that it was because when they appraised my house they made a mistake and appraised it for less when they should have done it for more. Now my payment is high and I can't get a person to help me.

CitiMortgage foreclosure

My husband and I have our mortgage with Citi which was originally with ABN. We have paid that mortgage on time for 6 years. Of course like many other people unfortunately a job loss has caused us to get behind. I sent two payments this month and it was sent back with the attorneys letter of foreclosure. Why not accept the payment and put it towards what we owe? It would have made us only two months behind. But now they have tacked on attorney fees etc. If we are struggliong to make the payments how are we going to come up with thousands of dollars more. No one will answer our calls and if they do we are directed to the attorney's office to another recording. No one wants to work with us. They were given a break with the bail out, but for some reason they refuse to give us a break. We are due to lose our house soon and we have the money to make the payments to get caught up but not the ridiculous attorney fees.

CitiMortgage harassment

I have had a Citi Mortgage for over 4 years. The terms of my mortgage give me a fifteen day grace period to make my payment without a penalty. The day after the scheduled due date, I start receiving two to six phone calls a day telling me my payment is late and they want to talk to me. When I talk to them, they are very abusive saying "Your Payment Is Late", when in fact I am still within my fifteen day grace period. The phone calls persist every day, including Saturdays two to six times a day starting as early as 8am. Once my payment is made by telephone, the calls continue for days.

If I had known this abuse would happen, I would never have done business with them. My other home loan company has NEVER called me when my payment is made within the fifteen day grace period, as it should be.

My advice: DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH CITI BANK!

Having been forced to fall behind in my payments due to a hardship, I applied for HAMP from Citi. I was promised the resolution in 30 days. It has now been three years and still no resolution. In fact my payments have been increased two fold by CitiMortgage.

I have complied with all the required submissions and now have recived a notification that the attorneys are selling my home at auction in 60mdays. I have not received a judgement or anything other than a letter from the attorneys.

can someone please help?

I too have been harassed by Citi Morgage. They informed me in August that my taxes were delinguent. The taxes in Bibb County are due in two equal payments on Oct.15 and Nov.15. Therefore how could they be late? Well, It did not stop here. I contined to get letters and I continued to talk to the customer service dept. Finally in January I was informed That I had been set up on a mandatory escrow . I am 79 years old and had my daughter take me to the tax office. I gave permission for the kind lady, Mrs.Renfroe to talk with someone from Citi Bank. She explained to them that My taxes were never late. She let them know Bibb county due dates. Needless to say Citi morg had sent a check paying my already paid tax bill. WHAT A MESS? At this time I can not get an apology out of Citi Bank . They are still referring to my taxes as extremely Delinquit. SOMEBODY PLEASE help Me!

Not legal advice

This is not legal advice, and I am not acting as anyone's attorney. Here is what I would do in this situation:

If CitiMortgage is calling my cell phone:

1. I would mail CitiMortgage a certified return receipt letter and inform them that I am revoking consent for them to call my cell phone. When the return receipt card comes back to me, I would save it along with a copy of the letter.

2. Check to see if it is legal to record telephone conversations in my state. If it is, purchase a recording device and begin to record all calls, especially the early portion of the call when the recording asks me to hold for a representative. There is no need to stay on the line after recording that part of the call.

3. Take photos of my phone CallerID, showing date/time of each call.

4. Keep logs of the calls, times/dates.

The above is what an attorney can use to help me sue for the caller violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which provides for $500 to $1, 500 for each call made to my cell phone after I revoke consent with the letter described in #1.

This only applies to cell phones. I might also be able to sue them for invasion of privacy or infliction of emotional distress, if the calls were frequent enough, even if they were only made to my home phone.

No one is allowed to legally harass me by calling me a dozen times per day. Owing someone money does not allow them to harass me.

I've finally had enough. I googled citibank and harrasment and this is the first place I found. I don't have to even explain the problem because it is the exact problem listed so many time here before. I have always paid my bills and never miss a payment yet they feel they have to call me constantly even after the payment is made. Count me in on any class action lawsuits or movements to criminalize Citibank. They have lost one great customer... me. I will pay off the measly loan soon then they will never have me as a customer again.

I too have had a CitiBank mortgage for four years. They have ALWAYS received my payment within the grace period, and I have ALWAYS paid from $20 to $180 EXTRA toward my principal amount. And yet today, they call me at my desk at work, with a number of coworkers within earshot, and they ask me when they can expect my payment, and how much I will be paying. They also wanted my email address and my cell number. I told them I don't have a cell phone, but that I would let them know when I have one. (Just how stupid do they think we are?)

Unfortunately my original mortgage was sold to CitiBank, so I have had no choice but to do business with these people. But believe me, I am going to double or quadruple my payment pay off this mortage as quickly as possible to keep them from making money off the interest, and I will NEVER DO BUSINESS AGAIN WITH CITIBANK.

Surely the name "Sanjiv Das" must translate to "Ebenezer Scrooge". I pity everyone who falls into their trap.

OMG I thought we were the only ones! Like there was some sort of glitch in the system. Our payment is due on the 7th, with a 15 day grace period making it due no later than the 22nd and I have it set up through THEIR website to pay automatically on the 15th YET they still call and harass! We have excellent credit and we have never, ever been late with a payment. I think they are bullying us into not taking advantage of the grace period because they know we can actually pay it "early" if we wanted to...I'm not giving in. They can continue to wait for their payment. I would LOVE to see a class action law suit against Citi.

CitiMortgage thievery

Dont do business with Citimortgage. My wife and I wanted to refinance our home. I thought we would give our current mortgage company a chance first. I have been the perfect customer, I have never been late on any payments, we have a substantial amount of equity built up in our properties and I have a rock-solid job that I have been employed at for over 21 years. After speaking with Joe Sermo of citimortgage on the phone, he had me convinced that I would not get a better rate anywhere because he could eliminate alot of the fees involved since they already owned the loan. Plus give me a discount if I moved my other existing loan for our rental house over with them also. Ignorantly I agreed and gave them a $445.00 application fee on my credit card. Mr. Sermo went over the cost with me and I thought it sounded fair. When the final paperwork arrived there were many added fees and no such discounts. They wanted $8000, 00 to refinance our home and an additional $10, 000.00 to refinance our rental. This is ridiculous...They were twice as high as any of their competitors. I refused and he kept taunting through e-mails and phone calls to me saying "these are the costs I quoted you" Yes...those costs were there but there were many other fees he didnt quote me and higher points. He originally said 1 point and in the paperwork it was 1.37 points. He was very quick to point out my mistakes. I lost out on my $445.00 application fee, but to hell if I was going to refinance through them. Citimortgage, Joe sermo and his little partner Keisha have no integrity and I personally will be glad to see citimortgage fold and these individuals end up in the unemployment line. Dont get ripped off. dont patronize Citimortgage.

same experience here, with different citimortgage personnel. i also thought it would be simpler to just refinance with citibank since they were my current mortgage company, but i've been waiting since dec. 26 2008 for my refinance to get finished; in the meantime, of course, i could have accepted better offers. i've had to fax in paperwork more than once, phone calls go unanswered and unreturned; i'm about to just write off my $500 application fee. i've wasted more than that on having to pay my old monthly mortgage instead of a refinanced one for an unnecessary four months.

CitiMortgage unapplied payment

I have had similiar problems with CitiMortgage. I am current with my mortgage payment. I use money orders and I have all my reciepts. When they started sending default notices, I contacted them noting that fact. I first requested a refinance of my mortgage, since the interest rates had dropped, which they refused. They directed me to loss mitigation as if I was behind. I kept telling them that I was current. They sent me paperwork from loss mitigation and I filled it out. I thought this had something to do with getting a lower interest rate. I was told that I would be contacted in appx. 6 weeks.? Next thing I recieved another default notice. I contacted customer service to get this all straightened out. Citimortgage claimed that 500$ of my payment had not been recieved. I immediately checked that the money orders had been cashed..(I send 2 money orders because they only sell for up to 500$)...They both had cashed the exact same day! I again contacted CitiMortgage informing them of this fact. I was told to fax the reciepts to Payment research. I was given the incorrect number. I recieved another default notice. I contacted CitiMortgage again finally getting, hopefully the correct fax number to payment research. They sent a letter saying that I would have to get a copy of the money order from the money order company and fax it again. I am currently waiting for the copies from Moneygram. Has anyone started a class action lawsuit against this bailout bilking corporation. I have been told that they only "service" the mortgages for Fannie Mae. I would like to add my name to any class action lawsuit against them.

I would jump at the chance to join a Complaint against Citi-Bank. They are crooks of the first order. I pay periodically throughout the month on my small mortgage with them. I live near a CB "banking" site and walk in my final payment each month near the deadline date, to make any remainder payment in cash. I save the receipts due to past bad experiences with them in making cash payments.
They have begun to refuse to accept my final payment of the month, as it is less than the mortgage payment, because I have already paid the rest of it previously that month.
For example, through another bank, I make about 2 payments of several hundred on my mortgage each month and then walk in a final payment at the end of my payment period. These 3 payments either equal my mortgage or are slightly more than my mortgage payment.
I have begun asking them for a writing refusing to accept my payment.
Now they are saying I have an escrow account attached to my mort. for property taxes, BUT I pay my own property taxes and have checked with the County. The County says I have paid my taxes and on time. They said about 5 mths ago they received a check from CB for my taxes and that they immediately returned that check.
I have spoken with CB and notified them of their error and now they are saying my mortgage payment in full, is in a side account and my payment is late, because I have not paid the escrow amount.
On top of all this, the new manager at the bank has physically threatened me when I was attempting to make my payment, which they were refusing to accept. I was irritated, but never raised my voice and the clerk and I were doing fine together.
Additionally, when you log out of CB online banking you are not actually logged out! There is a minor inconsequential question after you log out, like, do you want to go paperless. If you ignore that question and move on to another website, you can hit the Back button and you will be in your CB account. Anyone can get into your CB acct for about 20 minutes, at which time the system finally closes it. I have complained about this to them for years, but they don't care.
This bank is a joke. They do not seem to understand the most basic things about banking or accounting.
Sign me up for lawsuits against these crooks.

I am going through the same things as mentioned above. My mortgage was okay until May, 2010. Up until May, my payment was $912 a month. I was late sending in the May payment. They rec'd $950 on June 6. On June 1st, my payment increased from $912 to $982. So, they didn't apply my $950 payment to May, as they said it was not the entire payment. Instead my payment went into a "unapplied fund" account. I sent $1, 000 in July and another $1, 000 in August. Actually thinking that I was paying more than was due! HOWEVER, my payments for three months of $2, 950 are all sitting in this "unapplied fund" account. AND, this week I rec'd a letter from their attorney that my house is in foreclosure! I have called Citimortgage numerous times. Yes, they agree that this should never have happened... however, they can't do anything and I cannot get through to the Foreclosure Department. HELP!

This is happening to me. In the past two months, I have attempted to submit 4 separate payments through the citimortgage website. In each case, the payment was noted with a confirmation email. In each case, I received an additional notice a week later stating that the payment had been returned. But the money was available in my checking account, and my bank shows no record of a request for the funds!

This is not an error in entry of my checking account or routing number. 3 of these payments were submitted using account information already stored with Citimortgage, which had been used successfully in the past. The 4th payment was submitted while I was on the phone with my bank, and I confirmed my checking account numbers twice.

I have been charged $250 per month by citimortgage for fees and penalties. I am being harassed by phone 3 times per day. My credit score has dropped by 150 points because of the resulting late payment status on my mortgage account. I am now seeking a lawyer to help me address this.

I also have a problem with Citi...I have been making my current loan mod payments...out of the clear blue I get a foreclosure
letter...the funny thing is...my home burned down in Feb 2010...Yes let's give the banks more American money to party on
why not...? They really seem to know what they are doing...Remember this ask the bank to produce the NOTE...chances are...they do not have it...espicially if your loan has been sold more than once...mine...5 times...
Let's do a class action lawsuit against Citi...a bank that services Freddie Mac...

Citibank bought out my mtg from abn amro. due to 50 % income loss for my husband & 100% for me we are now 2 1/2 mos behind on our mtg. For months now I have been trying to get to the HUD program & they sent me the papers they told me would take care of it. It was not a hud program but one of citibanks. They are charging me horrible late charges & this recent letter stated : pay the entire late balance & all associated fees by 5/31/09 or you must pay the mtg in full ? Oh my god the place is a nightmare the people speak little english . They make no notes when you call & none of them know anything at all. If asking for a supervisor they never get one fro you. BEWARE!

My mortgage also was bought out from ABN Amro. This is what I went through. You have to be tough with them. I am still struggling with them, but there are some helpful hints in here as far as getting supervisors and such. I am on the phone with Citimortgage right now. I had applied for a loan modification. Was turned down and then they apparently approved me without notification so when my payments arrived they just put them in Unapplied funds. I just found out by accident they hadn't applied them. I have spent 2 hours today getting my funds reapplied correctly and my late fee waived and making sure that they didn't affect my credit report. It has been a 6 month nightmare dealing with them. It has ben so bad that I put my entire phone log from Jan 29 to June 10th I believe up on the CNN mortgage blog. And I have about another page more of phone numbers. Make sure each time you talk with someone you ask for their ID number. At least then you know who told you what. I also make it very clear every time I talk to them and take their ID that I have been keeping a log and posting it on the CNN site. Just insist on a supervisor and keep taking names. Eventually you do get one. You have to be downright sarcastic but it does work. I've spoken to 3 just today. Finally they have fixed thsi months payment but I am not optimistic about not going through this every month from here on out. Keep a log of every phone call and what was said, time, date, name of employee and ID. I don't know how I am going to get someones attention at Citimortgage but I am going to try to get someones name that I can report this to along with finding a banking commission or someone else that oversees them. There has to be someone!

CitiMortgage misapplied payment

I don't think it is a coincident that CitiMortgage made navigation changes to www.Citimortgage.com at the same time the Home Owners
Assistance Program. You must be current on your mortgage with no late payments in the last 12 months. I have used the above website for years to make my payments. I made no changes to my bank account or my Favorites where I saved the website link and personal information on CitiMortgage website. But "surprisely" my payment was processed as late where I was told it was due to how I made my paymemt. Having only one payment processed as late disqualifies me from refinancing my mortgage. The Customer Service was rude. I was accused of not having the money, changing my account information and going to the wrong website to make my payment. This back handed practice will keep alot of CitiMortgage from refinancing a lot of loans. How wonder how many other people had problems with last month's payment.

My parents have their payment made by their CPA on the15th of each month. Citi is saying the May payment is late and there is a late fee. That check has cleared the bank. They paid the late fee and it has cleared the bank. They now will not process the June payment until the late fee has posted. They are holding out so that the May payment will be late thus another late fee. They had no problem until Citi took over their loan.

CitiMortgage freaking nightmare!!!

I have been reading all of the complaints against Citimortgage. What a relief to know that this company is awful and I am not the only person experiencing horrible customer service. I am going to do my best to take this as high as possible and find someone to help us. We, like most families experienced a job loss. Applied for "Obama's homeowner's help" in March, as soon as we figured we wouldn't be able to pay. No response or call. Finally, at end of March, called to see status and they said we didn't qualify and that we needed to be 3 months or more behind. Well, who really wants to wait till that happens. Finally got someone who said we qualified for repayment program, but she never noted the account of what she offered us, so we had to do another program that cost more money. Same thing as everyone else complaining...being transferred around for HOURS, being lied to, paying late fees, delinquency fees, and getting it reported to credit bureau. Then, when we call to see why, because we were told under the payment plan they don't do any of that, they said they fix it. Then we find out they haven't and they said representative didn't notate account, then the next rep says, they lied to us and theres nothing they can do. Then we get someone who says they fixed it, but thats what the 15 OTHER reps told us for that last 2 months! Oh and on repayment programs, they don't post your payments til your fully caught up. I agree with whoever said no wonder homes are getting foreclosed, because they give up. They get the run around and NO HELP! Also, I've done my research on CEO of Citimtg and no wonder you only get a person in India, that can't even say your name, maybe because the CEO is from INDIA and went to school there! If anyone knows who can help my family please tell me. My husband says if our home gets foreclosed because of this he is going to destroy the inside because it's HIS home and hopes Citi won't get crap for it! The reps for Citi don't even deserve a job because they are so so horrible. Words can't explain what we have been through and we have done what we need. I have fax confirmations, names and ID# of reps, days and times we call, and still no one can get things on our account straight!

We agree with you completely on the Citi Mortgage NIGHTMARE... and to think our government bailed them out with our money is even more frustrating. We have been going through the modification paperwork only to find a big IF you qualify after making your 3 months of trial period payments on time. Then there is no promise that your payments won't be higher then they were before the modification...what modification. I have been reading through all the complaints about Citi Mortgage and I can't believe that they get away with this kind of nonscence. They also want to escrow in our taxes and ins. with our payment and to be honest...they can't even take care of our mortgage let alone the taxes and ins. It is obvious that someone in higher places then us little homeowners needs to do something about this problem that we are ALL having with them. Minnesota Stressed

CitiMortgage not getting credit for our payments

Since July 1, 2008 Citimortgage has been on our mortgage. We have not been late with our payment yet we are charged a late charge every month. We have tried to straighten this out but have had no success.
We have received three foreclosure notices. They will not answer letters. One of the people there told me that they could hold on to my mortgage until 2014, but my contract ends in October 2011. If you talk to them they will get real smart with you and not answer questions.

CitiMortgage failure to release funds due

My feeling is they have the check you put the roof on because we put the roof on, and they have the money. We received an insurance check made out to me and CitiMortgage for loss of our roof. They have delayed and stone walled with paper work, many different answers, inspections, everything that happens requires 3-7 business days. They are in fact delaying payments because every day they have all this money is another day for them to collect interest from your money. AND THEY HAVE A JOB BECAUSE OF OUR TAXES. IT IS THE POOREST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EXPERIENCED IN 50 YEARS. WE HAVE PAYED FOR THE ROOF, AND THEY HAVE THE MONEY. NEXT TIME . . . WE WILL HAVE ANOTHER MORTGAGE COMPANY OR THEY MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS -- THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES CAN PUT YOU IN THE HOSPITAL.

I received an insurance check made out to me and CitiMortgage for loss of my roof and other hail damage which occurred in July, 2011. They have delayed and stone walled with paper work, many different answers, inspections, outright lies, and everything that happens requires 3-7 business days. They are in fact delaying payments because every day they have all this money is another day for them to collect interest from your money. AND THEY HAVE A JOB BECAUSE OF OUR TAXES. IT IS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EXPERIENCED. I HAVE PAYED FOR THE ROOF AND OTHER REPAIRS, AND YET THEY REFUSE TO RELEASE THE MONEY. I had the same problem with them in 2009, and did not get a check for over 6 months. I am contacting my Senator and my Representative. I want to know which Federal agency has oversight on a company that the American Taxpayer had to bailout, and one which is an "International financial conglomerate" according to their own website.

I have a similar problem with CityMortgage. I started my claim in July of 2009 and as of today, December 8, 2009 the contractor who roofed my house and the painting company who painted my house after a major hail storm have still not been paid. It is almost laughable because each time I call them they say that they need another paper which they say they do not have. These are papers I have already sent them, and of which I have a copy. They keep asking for small changes to be made and the papers sent again on the pages they do have.

I feel sorry for my contractors because they have done the work expecting to get paid, and the mortgage company refuses to pay them. In this case, the mortgage company does not even need to send me money, just pay the contractor...yet they stall and delay.

Very unfortunate situation! If there is an option out there to NOT use CityMortgage, I highly recommend you look there first.

CitiMortgage bad faith, holding my check hostage

These horrible, horrible, people! I can't possibly tell you what we've been through and there is NO help. They are holding my insurance check hostage. My repairs are going to be complete tomorrow morning and I haven't the money to pay the contractor! At least I had the money to get them started! What if I didn't? They have played games with me now multiple times, delaying and telling lies. I send what they request and then there's always "something else". They never tell you the full story. NOW, they indicate that an inspector must come to our home (on THEIR own timeframe, of course... no rush!) to inspect our repairs and then write a report and then maybe a couple of weeks later... maybe, we'll get our check. BAD FAITH dealing! What if we didn't have any money to start our repairs? Then they'd never be done, I guess as Citimortgage apparently expect that you pay for your damages and then they'll torture you and toy with you until you have health issues. Dispicable. AND I'm in a hote right now! These people are cruel and horrible. Logic and compassion should enter the equation. No wonder their company is in the toilet.

I live in Houston as well and I have been given no help from this group of [censored] bags. Prior to my claim check arriving I called and was told that they would only pay half out on the first draw. That did not cover the cost of the roof and as a contractor and inspector I put it on the back burner till I could get my company back together. When I did send them the check with a letter bagging for the total cost of the roof I was told that after completion of my roof that they would pay out the rest and we would be done... I later received a call from my insurance company telling me that they had tried to get the check cut directly to them.

Today I was told that in five to seven day I could expect a call from the inspector to set up am appointment to look at my roof. I fund this over the top and asked to speak with a supervisor. I was told that I had only called in 5 times prior and that he did not feel I was receiving poor service. After reading others I can say he was right about that. They then told me that the job was not 95% complete and that the inspector would have to let then know what was done. Now for the good part… I can ask for an other exception for some more founds (maybe I will get the money? Maybe I will not). I pointed out that I paid for this insurance and after checking with the insurance company I was told there is no law requiring the check to be made out to both party’s
I have had it with this company… I plan to file complaints with the BBB… and write the state about this... This is un-real.

My experience has been EXACTLY the same. In December I was required to forward my endorsed insurance check from damanges due to Hurricane Ike to them, which they have held since then. I have complied with every form, every requirement, and they have continued to either require additional documentation (the roofer's proposal then became a "signed" contract with both our signatures); they denied a signed form because I forgot to enter the date, then never bothered to inform me that the process had stopped because of that. I have kept a massive journal of the phone calls and supervisors I have spoken with. I was told that as soon as the inspection and repairs (all of which were completed weeks ago) were complete, the funds would be released, and that a check would be issued to both the roofing company and me to endorse, and I assume the remaining balance to me (I had already done the repairs with my own money, had their inspector verify that 95% of the work was complete, another requirement to release the funds), overnighted. As of last Friday (March 13) I was told that the claim was complete but that it would take 3-5 more working days to process (that's what they call overnight?), then sent out FedEx, meaning as early as yesterday, or as late as tomorrow. This morning, after calling to check on the progress, I am told that the claim was approved 3/13, sent to accounting in Maryland, cut on 3/17 and has to be sent back to the Ohio claims office for MORE approval, and hopefully FedExed then, and it could be next week before it is received. In my furor, I forgot to ask why they are only referencing ONE check. I asked the supervisor to please personally follow up to make sure it is not held up again, and she offered to call me as soon as it is overnighted. Big help. It's misleading, fraudulent and bordering on criminal. I have yet to have a conversation in which more delay, more processing, more forms, and more requirements are not the case. This is a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE company and I would like to be a part of any lawsuit or complaints to the FTC, for what it's worth.

CitiMortgage awful company

I have Citimortgage, but I pay my own property taxes and I have my own insurance company that I have been dealing with for years. I have never had an escrow account.

I have never had issues with my flood insurance until they decided in July 2008 to send me an insurance policy for excess flood insurance. I contacted my insurance company right away. I have a 30, 000 dollar mortgage, Citimortgage said that I did not have adequate flood insurance, they wanted me to raise my flood insurance 170, 000 more. I am now up to a total of 220, 000 in coverage.

Citimortgage created an escrow acct, which I am still trying to resolve since last year. They keep sending me letters threatening foreclosure if I do not pay on my escrow. This is all due to flood insurance and that the reps there cannot resolve any issues. I am re-routed to India, then they transfer me to someone else. My husband, my insurance company and myself have been on the phone with them constantly telling them that I have adequate insurance. We have faxed them policies, spoken to reps, they keep telling us that it has been corrected and the policy canceled, I will be receiving a confirmation letter. Guess what, I never receive it.

My most recent call was today and the rep says it will be resolved, my insurance company needs to re-fax the policy (the 10th time or more, I lost count). This has not been resolved, I will still be waiting.

This has caused such aggravation in my household that my children are beginning to feel it. They have started to hit our credit, they are charging late payments (which are not late), and we can't forget they are also charging to send an inspector to the home to see if it is vacant. There has to be something that we can do to stop this harrassment. It is not fair, everyone is feeling this not just the banks. Hopefully someone can read our letters and resolve these issues before they get worse and more families become homeless.. Thanks for reading.

I had this issue in 2008 and CitiMortgage is attempting to force flood insurance again at the end 2014, due in January 2015.. I also have a letter from FEMA and CitiMortgage agreeing that I am not in a flood zone. Is anyone else getting these letters again from CitiMortgage again?

This company's customer service line is the absolute worst. I have tried to speak to someone about signatures that were forged on a recent mortgage re-modification but I was transfered 6 times and each time the person was ruder than the previous person. None of the 6 gave me any kind of customer satisfaction. I guess they don't acre whether they are getting my money illegally, just as long as they are getting it. Just another scam. Thanks Citi-Mortgage!

I had the same issue with Bank of America. Every year I would have to fax documents about 5 to 6 times every year and be on the phone for hours until months later they would finnaly get my flood insurance squared away. Just to find out I would have to do it again year after year. I finally got a LOMA (Letter of Map Amendment) which will cost you around $300 dollars (for a Proffesional engineer land surveyor) and a little running around town to get some local maps. But its was worth the $600 flood insurance bill I had to pay every year, every since they decided to triple my coverage! I believe the banks and flood insurance companies have come up with a good scam to empty the home owners pockets legally?!

Wellsville, get your property off FEMA. It's not that expensive. You get a survey, send it into FEMA. they remove you. Here's a response from another forum:
/URL removed/

In case you haven't already, this issue does not get resolved unless you apply for this Letter of Map Amendment from FEMA. You have the biggest headache out of the way (the elevation certificate), so file this with FEMA and you should get an answer back within two months. The surveyor is not liable if your property is flood damaged; the lender is. If Citimortgage has any question about whether its collateral is at risk, it will protect its investments until a higher authority (in this case FEMA) states flood insurance is unnecessary. Many surveyors also incorrectly state the flood risk of the property. Also, once you get this LOMA, speak with the insurance company about getting reimbursed for some of your premiums paid.

Finally, a WYO policy will be cheaper than the force-placed policy from your lender. They are required to rate to the maximum risk. Your agent should write a policy matching the lender's finding until a LOMA is produced. This is all covered in the Mandatory Purchasing Guidelines that lenders follow.

I have my mortgage with Citi. It is not by Choice, my mortgage was bought by them. Well anyhow long story short, my flood insurance was at 52, 000 of coverage, the house is only assesed for 47, 500. This insurance has been inplaced since i purchased the house in 1994. Citi made me increase my flood insurance to 140, 000, which by far is way to much for flood insrance. The only thing that it covers is water clean up, and the furnace if it is in the basement, and it has to be documented that the river is what flood my home, it cannot be back up of ground water that caused it, which in the area that I live in is going to be what happens anyhow, the river is over 1/2 mile away, and will never back up to my house. But from the flood of 1972 FEMA came in and said that the property that I now own is in flood zone A. but my backdoor neighbor is not, they are in flood zone B and do not have to carry flood insurance. and that house is with in 50 feet of my house and the land is flat. I did call Senators office, and they said if I want to hire a survey crew and do the paper work with FEMA I could possible get my home removed from the flood zone. Like i really have the money to do that, not. I also did ask them if they have the right to set the amount of flood insurance on a home and they said that there really is not Federal law under FEMA that limits them to the min amount, but they can set there own guide lines for the amount that you must carry, up to 250, 000 is the max flood insurance that you can have. Now Citi has increased my mortgage to the point that my escrow account is 2 times what my actual morgtage payment is. My wife and I talked, and decided that we must either sell the house, or try to find a mortgage company with different guide lines for flood insurance. I cannot afford this much each month, the thing about it, is that citi does not even get any of that money for the flood insurance because the rates are set by FEMA and all of the money goes to them, because I got my extra insurance though my private insurance company. If anyone knows any federal laws or state laws for New York that can limit this from happening please post a blog here I will be checking back, and if I learn more I will post again

We have just joined the Citimortgage Flood insurance scam group (victims)...policy charges just quadrupled. Low loan balance (45, 000), no real problems for years with them, and bang! here they come with this.

I've been reading now lots of accounts of very similar circumstances...but no mention of recourse taken, solutions found/made.

Any advice to the best course to get these criminals off our backs? It's frightening, as it seems they're capable of doing a lot of damage.

Citimortgage did the same thing to us. We pay our own taxes and insurance. We had $170, 000 in flood insurance on a house worth $125, 000 (by County tax appraisal) and a loan balance of $30, 000. They insisted we raise our insurance to $225, 000, but with two hurricanes in the Gulf, one right after the other, there was no way to increase insurance amount. Citimortgage took out a separate polity and is still trying to get us to pay the $72 in premiums. We have refused to pay the additional escrow amount each month, so they count our payment late each month and have threatened to return our payments until we pay the $72. The next thing will probably be an attempt to foreclose...

CitiMortgage non endorsment of check

On Aug 25th of 2008 I faxed an Affidavit of Non-Endorsement of a check issued to me by CitiMortgage. The check issued to me by them was never endorsed by me but was endorsed by a Contracter who deposited it in his account at Bank of America. I am out this money and can not seem to get any result from anyone at CitiMortgage
or the Bank of America since then.

The loan should have been paid off last year and they are still sending me monthly statements to pay. Every time I call I can not reach them, or they keep giving me the run around, about what I owe.

These guys are HORRIBLE. I will NEVER have any dealings with any branch of Citi as long as I live...and I intend to close my Bank of America accounts as well. I've been out of work since Jan 1...this is the first month that I haven't been able to make my payment - 3 DAYS after my payment was due, the phone started ringing and hasn't stopped! Multiple hangups...calling at all hours...just had another call today (SUNDAY!) and another hangup. Nice that they disturb my Sunday with a hangup. Thing that infuriates me is that I have been COMPETELY upfront from the beginning - told them that I am out of work, don't know when (or if) I can make the payment - I'm trying the best I can. You would think with that info, they would call off the dogs, at least for a week or so...the phone RINGS and RINGS and RINGS and RINGS. Like they're expecting the story to change 40 minutes later. Then give me the BS line that "they can't stop the automated system". BULL! Someone designed and maintains the system...FIX IT! Give me a break...I'm not even 30 days behind. Can't wait to see what happens with these jokers then. I'm going to complain to the FTC, FCC, Atty General and anyone else that will listen. This is nothing more than HARRASSMENT. I wish I could find a lawyer to go after these vampires.

Same problem here! They are driving me nuts. Half the time the recorded message hangs up on me, like they know they shouldn't be calling. I have called customer service several times, one person said the phone calls would stop, yet after 4 calls, I had to call again to complain. I was told there was nothing they could do. I am currenltly trying to refi out of Citi - I can't stand it anymore. Go bother someone who has had a late payment and leave the good customers alone!

Same here. Citimortgage constantly calls us, even though the payments are not late. Plus the try to over charge us for escrows. They have sent me an escrow notice stating my payments are going up effective April 1st by $110.00. My insurance increased by $13.00 a year and my real estate taxes have not increased. How can my payments go up by $110.00 a month for a $13.00 year increase? This is similar to what they did last year and it took me 6 months to get it straight. I have asked to opt out of the escrows - but I have yet to receive a phone call regarding this option. We shall see.

CitiMortgage very rude!

The people who work for Citi are nasty and very rude to deal with. I am doing everything in my power to get out of that bank. I feel they are way too big and don't need to be polite to the people who feed them. They constantly call me several times a day whether I'm late or not. They are relentless in getting their money. When I have called, I usually get someone who cannot speak the "English" language. They ought to be glad people are struggling to feed their faces. I'm out of their "SOON"!

CitiMortgage terrible company

I purchased my first home (condo) in 2017 and lived in it for one year, and then got married and purchased another home (now, my primary home). I put the condo on the market for 3 months at that time, no offers. I took it off the market and rented it out until recently. In July, my renters moved out. I've kept up the payments (no late pays) and had it advertised for rent (very, very cheap even) in multiple places up to a couple weeks ago. Not one single call. In the meantime, I had called the mortgage company, CitiMortgage, and explained to them about the renters and that I was getting to the point that I might not be able to pay for it myself with no renters. CitiMortgage told me that they couldn't do anything because it is an investment property. I put the condo on the market first week in December, called CitiMortgage to inform them about the sale and asked for options, including hardship and/or short sale. CitiMortgage told me that they were unable to do anything or accept any applications for a short sale until the house had been on the market for over 3 months and to call the HOPE program and they would help; however, the HOPE program is only for primary homes, not investment properties. Each month I called CitiMortgage to update them on the showings, no offers, etc and ask about hardship and/or short sale and I was told the same thing everytime: wait until Feb 28, 2017 and call the HOPE program.

Yesterday, they told my real estate agent that the house was in foreclosure and we couldn't sell it. I called CitiMortgage and was told to fill out the Loan Modification/short sale form, they've decided they would accept it now, even though Feb 28 isn't for another two weeks. I asked how can CitiMortgage do a loan modification if the house is in foreclosure with an attorney? CitiMortgage stated 'That's a good question; I don't know how to answer that.'

I've been with this mortgage company for years and they sent me information about lowering my interest rate. I called them and went ahead and applied for the loan. At the time, speaking with the representative he basically told me there would be no problem lowereing the rate. He also ask if I wanted to apply for a credit card with no interest, so I did and recieved a card. I then recieved a denial on my Refi loan, which costs $415. I have never been late or missed a payment, so I called and basically told them I thought this was a scam to get $415 to make for the loan they recieved from the government. It just seems strange to get denied for a lower rate but at the same time get approved for a credit card. I would not recommend this mortgage company to anyone. They didn't even try to explain themselves. Shame on them!

Spent 2 hours on the phone trying make an arrangement for payment of interest only.
FIRST representative said I could make the payment of principal and interest and not escrow IF I made it immediately and with a $25 dollar fee.

SECOND representative Could not understand a word they said.

FINALLY got hold of collections and was told that the information that I had received about a short payment was not correct and that they had no provisions for paying in this manner.

I decided to send the payment late, big mistake, they have been calling daily about it and at one time suggested we send a POST dated check so that it wold show that we payed on time. I'm sorry but I don't think that is legal and not very professional on their part to even suggest it.

Didn't the federal government just give them billions of dollars and look at the way that they choose to treat people

I was just informed by CitiBank that my mortgage is going to be serviced by a bank I have never heard of. This seemed to come out of the blue but made sense later. I had to send an insurance check for them to endorse. It was for water damage and repairs. The check was sent off but took almost a month to get the check back. First of all I have no idea why they need to sign off on a check when they do not pay the insurance. I pay it through an escrow account, but it is still my money. When I called to find out the status of the check I was told by the service representative he could not answer my question because he was not able to contact the Insurance Division. So here you have a multi-million dollar company (bail-out money?) where one Division can not communicate with another. The representative also lied to me stating he told my wife about the status of the check. it is a lie because 1) it never happened 2) it didn't happen because they would not give her any information because she is not the primary on the mortgage. So I proceeded to rip this guy a "new one", then ripped his boss a "new one". I get the check back a few days after the heated phone call, then I receive a notice they have sold my mortgage shortly after the phone call complaint. very little information was provided about the new bank. The bad part about this is just before receiving the "notice" i had to send a second reimbursement check for endorsement. Yes I was angry, mostly because no one knew what was going on and they can not communicate with each other. Maybe I will be better off. If I am not mistaken CitiBank took a bail-out. There company moto must be the best customer is no customer at all.

Reading the complaints about Citimortgage and my own experience convinces me to move forward with a reverse mortgage on my home. It's not my preferred solution, but removes my property from any association with this company.

Like many of you, I lost my job at the end of 2017. I owe about 40% of the value of my home even in these hard times. I made a good living and chose an accelerated mortgage schedule 6 years ago resulting in large payments, but less than 15 years to pay. My bank of many years arranged the loan and Citimortgage acquired it about 3 years ago.

I am completely current on my payments and could remain so for about a year, but then all my cash would be gone and I'm 62 with little hope of employment at that age. I'm familiar with the government plans to help homeowners. As a result of those programs, I found that my mortgage was a Freddie Mac and called to inquire about options. Citimortgage's customer service person descended into a "yes it us --- no it isn't" exchange while my laptop was connected to the site that clearly showed that my loan was Freddie Mac. When I finally convinced him to look it up, his reply was "so what, we don't have to offer you anything."

The US Government circumvented our tax dollars earned now and in the future through generations of my descendants to guarantee hundreds of millions of dollars in bonuses to the CEO and others of Citimortgage like the one that I had a conversation with. I will be happy when not one penny more of my money supports this company and hope that our government or others of passionate disgust with this corporation destroy it and render sterile its very existence.

Where do you start with this place? Two years ago I took out a
fixed rate mort. with a local company they sold it to citimort.
and my headaches began I have been through trying to understand the employees. Loss litigations you name it all to no avail they do not write anything in their computer when they tell you something. My mort. payment went from 710.00 a mo. to 850.00 with no explaination we finally are so fed up we put the house on the market now they tell me they will defer payments until the sale except the girl that told me that never wrote it down and I did get one wonderful girl Nicole who appeared to want to help she found the first girl but she is in Costa Rico my house is in TN gee don't get that! but she said "I'll call you as soon as I reach her and settle this" well it's 3 weeks now so I call today to speak to cust. service my payment is behind so I can't talk to anyone but collections they will not transfer or help you with another number the girl I spoke to would only tell me her name was Heather she got VERY rude and hung up on me well I'm about to loose my house and she hung up on me! This company is by far the worst I have ever seen. I can't get another mortgage because they didn't defer they marked me late and now my credit is bad. So I guess real soon we will be living in my car. and Citimortgage will have my house.

My husband got laid off and we are having trouble our mortgage payment and have called for 3 months and have gotten no help so far. Everytime we call we get india which they can barely speak english and have no clue how to help us. We are hardworking americans and are trying to keep our house but are getting nowhere with citimortgage! You see people that don;t care and are just walking away from their homes and here we just trying to do our best and the right thing and are getting nowhere. You keep hearing how the government is giving citimortgage all kinds of money for bailout and how they are suppose to be helping the working class - this is a joke and where is all the money going - my guess is to the people that don;t need it and are getting richer off of us tax payers. Basically who cares about the working class people! This has been so stressful for my husband and myself that it is starting to affect our health! Once again who out there basically cares. Why even bother to do the right thing because we are getting nowhere. What happened to caring about the american people! Who are these people from india and why are they answering american phone calls for help! Why would they care about us! Somebody out there better start sticking up for the american people before we are all destroyed.

I started the same thing with CitiMortgage back in April 2017. I actually thought they cared, because I too was one of those that cared about her credit. I had lost my husband of 20 years to cancer and was left raising 4 sons on my own, with two being in college. I called Citi and was told they couldn't help me because I was current on my payments and had never missed one. So I fell hook line and sinker when they told me, we could help IF we put you on a Forebearance Plan for 3 months at a 20% reduction in my monthly payment and change the due date of my loan by 25 days and take a relook in August. But by the way, don't pay attention to that park where it asks for the balloon payment at the end and your credit won't be affected. I was thrilled! Here I am in September and have never received not one call from them...I called them every day/week up until August and to this date, have never received a call from the Loss Mitigation Dept or my counselor. BUT I sure have from collections, even on Sundays. I have gone thru every single scenario from people on this site. All I can say is CITIMORTGAGE YOU ARE CROOKS AND COULD GIVE OR CARE ABOUT ANY OF US. SEE MICHAEL MOORE'S MOVIE AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND! Who ever that person is on this site from CitiMortgage is PAID to monitor this site I guaranteed you, because WHY, if she supposedly works so many hours would you want to come home to read this and you have children and are a single parent? SHAME ON CITIMORTGAGE FOR DOING THIS TO PEOPLE! I have cried so hard that I don't know what to do. I ended up with heart palpations and ulcers. I have decided to not fight this any longer and have just stopped making payments. My sons need their only parent and I need my sanity to go on.

We sold a rehab house on Aug 5th of 2017. Citimorgage had bought the Mortgage. At the end of August we got a collection call demanding a mortgage payment and in September another. Citimortgage lost a Check from closeing for $122, 000.00 dollars. They signed for it and then asked our Title company for another. The title company sent another check which they refused to accept. They wanted intrest for the missing check time, the check they admitted to loseing. They then put 2 late mortgage payments on our credit. We now have the government regulatory commision involved. Today in the middle of all their stupitity and dispite our undisputable evidence we got a letter saying they just can't help us. The letter is unsigned. Dispite our plees it seems no has even looked at our situation for more then a few seconds. This $122, 000.00 check was not the only one they lost but it is the only one we can prove. Even the title company laughed when they heard this story. I'm not laughing. Stephen Brockman

In Sept.2017 the heat and air system went out and needed replacing and with winter coming there was no choice. The company that carried the insurance on the unit was a total failure so we asked for assistance from Citimortgage. We did all of the paper work, faxed it and began to call after a week or so to see what was happening. NOTHING! Collections has hounded us as much as 8 times in one day as early as 7:48 AM until 8:41 PM. We have been assigned a councelor, one Eric Barnes, but we still haven't heard from him. Our account was not supposed to be turned over to the credit bureau as deliquent but it has been, the company that installed the heat and air system pulled our compressor because in December a creep named John called from Citimortgage and made horrible threats and called us terrible things for not making our payment so we made it. We could not afford to make the payment on the house and the heat unit so the compressor was removed until such time we could pay for it. Because the house got so cold we had water pipes break and the basement flooded and I lost one of my cats because she couldn't handle the cold. I personally have spent almost a month in bed because the cold gave me pneumonia and the Arthritis in my spine has acted up so bad that I can only walk from the bed to the bathroom and then I can't pull the toilet paper off of the roll as my hands are swolen to badly to close my fingers enough to pull off a piece. Still no call from Eric Barnes but dozens of them from collections and a credit score that will never allow us to buy another house, car or anything. To top it off our daughter needs another student loan so she can go for another semester of college. FAT CHANCE OF THAT. She's 18 and will have her Associates after this semester, she's an honor student with a major in Psychology and a minor in criminal justice. She wants to work with the FBI. Citimortgage is just a dream of a mortgage company. We've gotten a dozen lies and promises from everyone we have talked to at Citimortgage but the records have nothing in writing and there is no help coming from Citimortgage, only lies and grief.

CitiMortgage refinance

I started my refinance at the beginning of Dec. Citi charged my Credit Card on 12/16 for $480.00 to lock rates after a pre-approval. We keep getting the run-around every time our file goes to underwriting with not being able to close because they need to have someone inspect something or something else needs fixed or they need some other Document! In other words I have good credit but they keep stalling for more time! They have made me feel like I live in a dump and have ruined the Holidays and here we are passed Valentines Day and I still have no answers...however they have my money! They are making us fix things that were fine when we bought the house 6 years ago. Sometimes we have gone weeks without having emails answered or any phone calls and in the mean times I have spent thousands on the house trying to please them and it is all for nothing.

We have our current mortgage with Citmortgage. I called about refinancing. They sent all the paperwork then we decided not to go forward. The paperwork clearly stated if they did not hear from us by July 11th, 2012, they would not proceed any further with the loan. On July 13th, I got a call from a local appraiser saying she wanted to set up an appointment. I told her we decided not to refinance. She said she would notify the powers that be. That same day we get an email from the loan processor needing more documentation. I emailed her back and copied the man I orginally spoke to on the phone and told them we were not proceeding. I found out today that on that same day, July 13, 2012, they charged my credit card $470.50. Now we will have to try and play the game you all are playing and get that charge removed. Wish I had seen this page before I called Citimortgage. Has anyone had any luck in getting the credit card charges removed?

Same problem here. Had my mortgage with them for eight years or so and decided to refi. Only asking to finance less than 1/2 of appraised value and they are dragging us through the mud. Close to saying "K...M.A.." but it pisses me off that they took my money and it appears they don't want customers with 750 to 800 credit scores. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE FOR A LOAN, YOU WILL GET THE RUN-AROUND AND MOST LIKELY SCREWED.

You all are correct, this is a scam. I too currently have Citimortgage, theyhave been holding my loan for over two years and decided to refinance with them. My credit report averaged around 800 and my income was more than sufficient. And on top of that the house appraised at more than two times the loan request amount in Oct 2009. I got the same run around and poor customer service, Talk about no risk, I agree with all the others if you are trying to be smart about your finances and do the right thing by dropping the PMI cost and lowering you interest rate CitMortgage has no problem taking your appraisal money and making money on that transaction. If CitiMortgage does not make good on this Refinance I will be cutting up my credit card with them and telling others to ditch them fast, also I encourage all of you to file complaints with your State Attorney Generals Office.

Same problem Citi is totally screwing us around with our refi. Going on 90 plus days now. Just called again today to the customer service line (because our loan rep never answers or replies to my email except to say its still in underwriting) they tell me finally that and underwriter has reviewed our loan and we are going to have to drop $4, 300 to refinance due to our appraisal not being 80% of our loan amount. This is complete BS. Originally I was told they only needed a exterior appraisal. Of course this changed at some point so we set up an appointment to have an appraiser come out to have him call the next day and tell me our appraisal had been cancelled. Call Citi on Monday to ask what is going on and of course no one knows why and blame it on the appraiser. Citi then sets us up with a new appraiser to come out different than the man we have used in the past. He is in and out of our house in less than 15 minutes. I know the value of homes has dropped in the last year but he appraised our home for more than $30, 000 less than in Sept of 2008. They have put us off so long I could have gone with the company I used last time to refi took 2 weeks paid a bit more but what I have paid extra in our higher mortgage amount would have already made up for the extra fee. They put you off cause they dont really want you to get that better rate they want that higher payment from you. The only ones that are getting the service there are not their current customers they are only interested in bringing in new clients that they can screw over. I want to report this problem so others know. Just not sure who to report it to other than emailing our local television station. Just got a call from a supervisor with Citi and the reason our refi came back so low is due to the comparables that the appraiser used when appraising our home meaning the other homes he also looked at and what they sold for brought the value of our home down. What the, the houses he compaired ours to were 500 sq feet smaller and over 10 years older than our home. So if I want to contest it I have to come up with some comparables on my own. I have to do this all on my own and submit it, now how much you wanna bet they will still deny the comparables I send in. So frustraiting!

I am going through a refinancing process with CitiMortage through a mortgage broker to get a lower rate. Our credit is excellent, we have equity on the house that's 2 times more than the mortgage refinancing amount. All in all we pose no financial risk to any banks or lenders and they are giving us hell. Everyday there is a different document they ask for. Our rate lock expires in 3 days and they haven't schedule a closing date although they approved our mortgage 10 days ago. I agee, we as taxpayers should demand that these incompetent SOB pay back every cent of the bail out money that comes from your and my paychecks.

Welcome to my world. Citi Mortgage (CitiMortgage) has had our loan for more than 9 years, and we've never been late on a single payment. We've been getting the refi run-around for well more than 3 months. If it weren't for already paying them, their waiving of some closing fees, and a good appraisal, I would have dumped these S.O.B.s long ago! Shame on you, Citimortgage, Citibank, and Citicorp!

What a scam! I applied over the phone to refinance and was told everything looked good, our credit was good, etc. Since appraisers are now chosen randomly to decrease potential for over appraisals, we got a young woman who must not have known the area because she appraised us so low my heart came to a stop when I saw it. We tried to appeal it based on an appraisal from a year earlier that was $75, 000 more, but we were ignored. We then received a denial letter stating that our appraisal is too low and our credit isn't good enough! What? Our credit is fine. I began to wonder why they would want to refinance us when we pay every month ON TIME and we pay a high interest rate! I am beginning to think the only ones who are getting deals now are the ones who are heading into foreclosure and have not been paying their mortgage at all!

I have been trying to refinance since May 2009 and it is now September 2009. My summer was also spent sending them documents that were previously lost, paying more fees, listening to lame excuses and "not my job" lingo. My application fee was $450.00. Everyone in this blog has a different amount.? This is a scam. I was supposed to finally close in 2 days only to have something else go wrong that I will deal with on the next business day. Now they say I need $3000 more at closing for something that was never quoted to me before. I would also like to complain to someone. Scam, Scam, Scam...
