CitiMortgage screwed by citimortgage

Through no fault of our own we had a house fire. Our insurance carrier was required to send the checks for repair made out to us (the homeowners), the contractor and the mortgage holder (Citimortgage). Citimortgage had a list of procedures that we had to follow. We followed their requirements but they did not follow their own procedures. After 100% of the repairs were completed (according to Citimortgage's inspector) they still had 26 thousand dollars of our money. We tried for 15 months to get them to send it to us. They kept saying they sent it but they didn't. I withheld my mortgage payments until they sent the final 26 thousand dollars of OUR money that they owed us. The day they sent the check I sent payment for the 11 months I had withheld. Citimortgage is refusing to accept the check saying our home is already set for foreclosure sale and we have to not only pay the mortgage payments we withheld but we must also pay late fees and attorney's fees. They had the use of my 26 thousand dollars for 15 months after the home was completely repaired and they had received all required paperwork. They paid ZERO in interest and late fees but they are charging me those fees and unless I want to lose my home I have to pay them!

BANKRUPTCY WAS FINAL IN MAY OF 2009, RELEASED THE HOUSE AT 761 HURON ST IN FEBRUARY 2009. SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET IT OUT OF OUR NAME. I HAVE CALLED, CALLED, AND CALLED AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT WAS IN FORECLOSURE, NOT IN FORECLOSURE, AND NOW I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR IT, THAT I HAVE TO SELL IT. PLEASE HELP ME TO GET THIS OUT OF MY NAME. THAT IS ALL I WANT. IT WAS INCLUDED IN OUR BANKRUPTY, SO HOW CAN I BE THE ONE TO SELL IT.

I strongly suggest that everyone with a complaint against Citimortgage copy and paste their concerns to info@barackobama.com to show how this corporate giant is misleading us (the American People) and taking advantage of us. Hopefully this will spark an interest for an internal investigation! We need every dissatified customer participation.

Citimortgage refuses to send me a statement. I have made all payments. I have checks and statements to prove this. I went thru bankrupcy made all 12 payments. Yet they still say my account 124 days late...not. They are rude and unprofessional and yes I was transferred to someone in India as well.

Terrible experience with their filling department. They are quick grabbing your application fees but not refunding it when unable to close the loan.
Do not let them touch your money until they accept the terms and approve the loan.

I really would like you to see if you can help me with citi mortgage. For definitely predatory lending pratices lawsuit. My husband refinanced 3 Yrs ago and at that time I added my name to mortage. And deed 1 would think . Also the fema lawsuit filed for the people. Boy did they screw us again ever year since 2005 I fight with them for placing forced placed amounts. I have insurance company do it because I'm not allowed to since my name was never added to deed. When we refinanced the lender. Citimortage would not finish paperwork until I paid higher amount on fema . I feel that was forced placed I had to pay daily late charges to do refinance be cause like I said she was not happy . GFE WAS 3, 000 nope we paid 6, 000 I called I thought was citi mortgage I wanted to back out of deal . The guy was there lawyer he told me call Monday because he don't work on weekend so lawyer never did his job. I could go on and on. But right now fema has to be paid and citi mortgage going to screw me again last year I paid fema 1, 000 out of my pocket and citibank sent us refund check for 600 . There is so much more but tight now I have to worry in next few days what to do. Also for 10 yrs and the forced placed insurance fema sent my husband refund for 29. Dollars what a joke . Also citi put on my credit report my mortage was a Fannie Mae. How can they keep doing this. If you can help please call me [protected] or [protected] thank you Sandy Jungier

Hello Carol and other CitiMortgage customers that have had their rights violated by Citi,

I routinely look for posts to answer in hopes that it will not only bring optimism to those homeowners and borrowers in distress but also some basic information to assist in fighting the banks like Citi, Bank of America, Chase and Wells Fargo that are "too big to fail" but yet don't appreciate the bailout that we provided in their time of need. The debt collectors like SPS, SLS, GreenTree, Ocwen and Nationstar are simply just ### but they can be beat at their own game too just like the big banks can be defeated.

It pains me that you have fallen victim to the unfair, deceptive and abusive practices of Citi but I commend you for asserting your rights...too often homeowners do not fight for their consumer and constitutional rights! With that said, you have overlooked a key aspect to your fight, which is taking it outside of Citi to government agencies that will actually fight for your rights on your behalf by simply submitting a complaint after a proper QWR; you do have rights and I would be more than happy to educate you as to how to fight for your rights. My firm routinely seeks out complaints online so that we can educate as to how to fight back on our weekday show called "The Daily Complaint" where we review a complaint and how to tackle it successfully.

We reviewed your complaint on the show yesterday if you would like to listen, visit www.TheDailyComplaint.com

In addition to the CFPB, let me bring your attention to The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), which is the U.S. standard-setting and regulatory support organization created and governed by the chief insurance regulators from the 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories.

The mission of the NAIC is to assist state insurance regulators, individually and collectively, in serving the public interest and achieving the following fundamental insurance regulatory goals in a responsive, efficient and cost effective manner, consistent with the wishes of its members:

~ Protect the public interest;
~ Promote competitive markets;
~ Facilitate the fair and equitable treatment of insurance consumers;
~ Promote the reliability, solvency and financial solidity of insurance institutions; and
~ Support and improve state regulation of insurance.

The last thing I would like to shed light on is that you do have rights and options to avoid foreclosure while holding Citi accountable for their actions but the way you go about it will make all the difference in the results achieved. With that said, the foreclosure process that was started began because you did not pay your mortgage giving Citi more leverage to use against you unfortunately. By not paying your mortgage, you lost some of your leverage against Citi when what should have happened is that you held them accountable for their lies and withholding the insurance payment after the approvals and requirements were met.

As for your impending foreclosure, you also have rights in that arena to restructure your debt but you will have to go through the RMA process with Citi to bring your mortgage current; you can always refinance at a later time and get rid of Citi altogether but since they are under great scrutiny right now after settling their most recent lawsuit, you might want to put some pressure on Citi to modify your mortgage given they broke insurance laws and violated your rights (leverage to be used to turn the tides in your favor). It truly is a strategic game of chess and the one who plays it best wins...sad but true!

You can contact me via email at Dana@ConsultingEND.com or via our website at www.ConsultingEND.com or via our show page www.TheDailyComplaint.com as I would be more than happy to contact Citi on your behalf to uncover all options for you...at no charge to you.

CitiMortgage interest calculation

The BiWeekly Advantage Plan®
Don't miss out on your BiWeekly Advantage
The BiWeekly Advantage Plan is a convenient mortgage budgeting plan that can help you save thousands of dollars in interest and pay off your mortgage sooner. Instead of you making the normal 12 payments a year, the Plan will draft one half of your regular monthly payment every 14 days. This allows you to make the equivalent of one extra payment, all of which is applied to principal each year. Some homeowners try to make extra principal payments themselves, but most aren't able to keep a consistent schedule. Let The BiWeekly Advantage Plan do the work for you.

This is CitiMortgage statement of the biweekly payment plan. But watch your statements carefully, your interest is calculated on 16 to 18 days. Calling them, I was given the reason that some months have more days than others and some less so it balances out. 14 days is 14 days and your interest is being cheated, you are paying more than you should.

Now I have refinanced and just received my escrow refund and find that it is short $50 dollars from the one statement that I printed out when the loan was done. No explanation for the $50 reduction, I can't wait to see how they explain this one.

This has got to be one of the worst banking/financial establishments. They should have been let to go under when all the banking markets crashed.

CitiMortgage excessive processing time

Existing Citimortgage customer for 34 years--perfect record; paid off one mortgage & still own property with no liens. Have been customers of Citibank for 36 years and was CFO of a multimillion international charity and kept the accounts at Citibank. Also have recommended potential clients with high income to Citibank & Citimortgage. They solicited us for a refinance twice in 2012. I responded in January 2013. Provided all documentation. We have a score of 805 out of 818 and the loan to value ratio is 16% on a multimillion home. They keep asking for the same things and sent several different Good Faith Estimates changing the locked rate and terms. I have saved copies of all contacts. The supervisor sent a letter that we had been approved asking for more documents two of which do not exist and some of which they already have. The branch manager of Citibank is very embarrassed and has directly helped by scanning and faxing the continued documents they want. Some of the documentation they have requested is our own accounts with Citibank and they even asked for a copy of our note which is on file with them at Citimortgage. I am wondering if these are all contract employees even though they have citi.com email addresses. I have tried to contact the executive leadership and all emails are bouncing. And the real top laugh is that the contact person for complaints has a voicemail which is full. Our GFE expired this weekend and we do not have any commitment for a date to settle. They have had our $1000 since January to pay for the appraisal and origination fees. The rates have now increased and we could have gone somewhere else. What a scam. I am looking into filing a complaint with Federal Trade Commission, FDIC and/or Comptroller of the Currency.

CitiMortgage unable to close daughter's estate

My 38-year-old daughter died two years ago, June 3, 2011. CitiMortgage (CM) having, obtained her mortgage from her local back, has added unbearably to my devastation. My daughter died intestate, never married, no children. She bought her house on her own and her payments were up to date. I am not a co-signer on her note, have no interest in her property, nor have I paid anything on her mortgage.
As her court-appointed personal representative, I have done all things financially possible to settle her estate. I, of course, notified CM of her death and sent them a copy of her death certificate. Offering a quit claim deed or whatever would simplify and expedite to avoid their having to foreclose, I wrote and wrote and called and called while receiving no relevant correspondence nor answers from anyone.
CM continued to send a multiplicity of notifications addressed to my daughter about her being in default and offering all different kinds of ways for them to help her with her financial problems.
Every piece of mail sent to my daughter was another stab in my heart. My folder of correspondence to them and from them is over one in thick. Finally a CM employee said, “Ma’am, if you were my mother, I would tell you to let them foreclose; that is what they want to do.” I thanked him.
Finally, in Sept. 2011, I wrote a letter asking if anyone at CM understood the difference between DEFAULT and DECEASED. I told them that I doubt if God cares about her earthly credit rating and enclosed a key to the house.
A letter dated Nov. 2, 2011 from Susan C. Little & Associates, P.A. (Little) and addressed to my daughter reported that “Your mortgage loan has been referred to our firm for foreclosure.”
Jan. 31, 2012, a Court notified my son and me that CM and Little want us to agree that we are “liable for default judgment.” Financially unable to have an attorney handle this for us, then 71-year-old I wrote multiple responses to more notices from Little. Hearing no more from the Court or Little, I thought CM had foreclosed and that the house was on the market.
A letter dated Dec. 10, 2012 addressed to my Michigan address—when Little has my winter address—stated, “Enclosed please find copies of the Motion for Order Reinstating Case and Order Reinstating Case and Request for Hearing. Please let us know if we can note your approval to the Order within five days of the date of this letter.” I received this letter on Dec. 26; my son does not know when his arrived mixed with Christmas mail. Well-planned and well-scheduled: their trying to get us to agree that we are “liable for default judgment.”
Widely criticized in [redacted].com and Complaintsboard.com and Consumeraffairs.com, etc., etc., as being unfair, unconscionable, and fraudulent in its business practices, CitiMortgage, this large corporation, appears to pick on a lot of “little people.” In my opinion, Susan C. Little & Associates, P.A. is earning big money and representing them extremely well. My folder of mail from Little is now over one inch thick; interestingly, they now have a different address: I wonder if it is a better location—
Two years later my deceased daughter’s house is still not on the market. No foreclosure! And heartbroken I with no closure--

CitiMortgage refusing to release our insurancemoney, insurance money overcharging

o whom it may concern, My name is Kellie Kidd our home burnt down two and a half years ago. The day it burnt down we made a claim. Our insurance company turned it into our mortgage company (Citi Mortgage). It was a total lose one hundred and sixty thousand dollars in damage. We lost everything. This was on January 14th, 2011.Since then it has been a nightmeer. Our insurance covered us for a year under normal circumstances this time would be a efficient amount of time. When the house burnt down we were a few months behind on our house payments as we had some personal issues. We tried and tried to catch up the house payments and work with citi mortgage to resolve the issue. We sent citi mortgage close to thirty thousand dollars in two years which we did not owe them thirty thousand dollars we were only a few months behind. They kept coming up with all these bogess charges. We sent them four thousand dollars citi mortgage said four thousand dollars didn’t matter. We sent them a check for twenty thousand dollars. They claimed we still owed them more. They kept doing this over and over it didn’t matter how much we sent them. So needless to say we held off on sending them the insurance check to fix our home we were scared to do so until we got this resolved. We were afraid they would keep our insurance money .Until their lawyer said it was illegal for them to keep our insurance money. We felt more comfortable with that. We talked to their attorneys because they kept saying the house was in foreclosure which it was not they even told our insurance company that which resulted in our insurance company dropped our insurance. Citi mortgage put their insurance on our home. Our garage got ripped off and citi mortgages insurance would not cover the few things we had left as the garage did not burn. Citi mortgages insurance should never been placed on our home as our home was not in foreclosure .We sent citi mortgage a portion of our insurance check that we had and because of all the struggles we had with citi mortgage our insurance agent kept part of the money to hold on to until we used what citi mortage had because he witnessed what citi mortgage was doing to me and my family. Our insurance out in a year but our insurance guy extended it for us watching what citi mortgage was doing. Citi mortgage gave us the first draw which that completely went into the structure .As our home had severe structural damage due to the previous home owner. It took citi mortgage over a month to give us the second draw as sent us the paper work to fill out which I did even paid to overnight it to them. They then said the address on their paperwork doesn’t exist. They gave us a special care specialist that was a joke he never was there didn’t return calls never returned calls. Every time I called different state different person who did not know what was going on. Took me two years to convince them I was on the loan I owned the house and the house burnt up. Finally we received the second draw we finished the framing, roof, windows, with that draw. Our insurance agent told us to get our home to a certain point and he would release the rest of the money to finish our home .We have by this time put close fithteen thousand out of our own pockets to repair our home. I sent my paperwork in nine weeks ago to get the next draw as we have to get the home to a certain point as our insurance man gave us a time limit. Citimortgage is refusing to give us our insurance money to repair our home. Putting us in jeopardy of losing the money to finish our home .we have had contractors continue to work in the last nine weeks. We owe them money they are threatening to sue us .Put a lean on our home. we have borrowed money from family members to help repair our home we owe everyone. Because of citi mortgage we are still out of our home two and a half years later they will not give us our insurance money.my little boy wants to go home. Can anyone help us.

CitiMortgage stop harrasing phone calls on late monthly payments

I have had our loan for 8 years. I have never been late. 3 years ago I lost my job and then my spouse had unemployment for lack of work as welder. We contacted citi mortgage, inc to see what they could do or programs we could qualify for. Office of home preservation contacted us, re: modification loan, reduce monthly payments. Aug 2012- Feb. 2013, papers were submitted but no response. Then we get notification that our request was rejected because we did not fall in any of their categories that we were never informed of. Every 10th of month, we get harassing phone calls from citi mortgage, inc about when am I going to pay and when? First I was nice, now I just don't. They send threatening letters of foreclosure.

CitiMortgage scam late charges

I pay my mortgage online. My account shows current and no late fees. Yet, CitiMortgage is mailing me statements showing $300+ in late charges. I have called them numerous times and no one knows why, but yet the next statement shows these charges. They sent me a letter today with a print off of my payment history since January 2011 showing $00.00 for monthly late charges and payments paid on time, yet a letter is enclosed stating as a courtesy they have waived January and February late charges and the credit is a totally different amount than the charges! I am so frustrated with their incompetence and would love to know what I am being charged late for?!

I too am getting the same letter. Mine is for 303.32. Which doesn't correlate with missed payments or any other thing. We call the customer service reps and they say everything is up to date and no late charges. I am sending a letter today asking for an account history and asking what the charge is. I have also emailed the company and posted on their homeowners forum.

CitiMortgage bad lending practices

My 27 year old daughter and her husband have been spending too much on rent. They had to move back to this area quickly due to his mother having cancer and not knowing the outcome. Living in a two bedroom duplex with 2 year old and baby on the way they decided it was time to purchase a home. They did everything right. They were pre approved and had the down payment then started the house hunt. She is a full time labor and delivery RN and he is a full time firefighter so every moment they had together they searched. Didn't take long. There was a house in there current area that was exactly what they wanted and perfect for them. It was a short sale and in there price range. Signing the contract immediately they THOUGHT soon it would be their's. The sellers were also trying to do whatever they could to get this done. The story is they had to transfer suddenly due to their child's illness. To make this long story shorter the mortgage company selling the home is CitiMortgage. They have been terrible to buy this home from. First dragging their feet on accepting a pre approved contract then not following through on all the regulations so the short sale could take place for sellers and purchasers. It has been ridiculous for Realtors to get a straight answer and speak to the same person more than once but also getting a return call at all. It has been 7 months since they have signed first contract. Finally they set a closing date of December 28, 2012 but 3 days before they were to sign the final papers CitiMortgage foreclosed on the house so NOW it starts all over again as a waiting game. With a new baby, a 3 year old, 2 labs, plus all the hours they both work this has drained them emotionally. They have spent many more of the few free hours they have available searching for another home but just can't give up on that home. Why can't CitiMortgage just make this happen? They have a home that needs to be sold and has a balance due with them and this young family wants to purchase it so badly. It's going on 8 months now of a bad ordeal. Can someone at Citimortgage help them make this dream come true? Please!

CitiMortgage release of funds

There was property damage to my home and I filed a claim with my insurance company. The insurance company made the check payable to CitiMortgage and me. CitiMortgage received the final inspection indicating that the work was 98% complete over 2 weeks ago. They refused to sign off on the check which was made payable to CitiMortgage and me. They had me to sign the check and return it to them. They said they received the check on 1/15/2013. They in turn deposited the check in their account and said they had to wait for the check to clear. At their request I submitted the proper documentation showing that one contractor was due about 75% of the funds and I was due the remainder because I had paid 2 of the contractors from my personal funds. Instead, they issued one check to the contractor with the balance for the entire amount which included my funds. It took 2 weeks for CitiMortgage to issue the incorrect check. When I called and complained they told me they would put a stop payment on the incorrect check and it would take about 5-7 business days for the funds to be redeposited and the correct checks issued. This process has taken over 2 weeks because they felt they had to control my claims process. This has not been resolved. I understand they have an interest but once they were informed that the work had been completed they should have allowed the insurance company to issue the remaining funds to me and the contractor based on the final invoices and my signed client completion certification. Because I advanced my funds and have no income coming in this is causing me unnecessary hardship and stress.

The exact same thing is going on with me. Thinking about changing mortgage companies. They have all documentation I was told and an inspector came a week ago. They are telling me now that they are missing documentation. All contractors were paid in full by my personal account and Citibank is holding the insurance money. I am furious. Makes no sense that they can hold my money due.

CitiMortgage excessive processing time

I have been a CitiMortgage customer for over five years. I was solicited by phone numerous times in July 2011 by a CitiMortgage employee to urging me to refinance my home. I finally agreed, mostly to stop his calls. CitiMortgage has been 'processing' my paperwork for FIVE months now, and they still can't figure out when this refinance will ever close. I have requested on numerous occasions the name and contact number of ANYONE within CitiMortgage who has the capacity to make a decision and, to date, I have received only the same 'non-answer' from CitiMortgage employees who are only able to repeat "you're loan is being processed and it should close in 60 to 120 days.' It has been OVER FIVE MONTHS NOW - to refinance a $250, 000 loan for a current customer who has never been late with any payment. If I had not already paid $$$$$$ upfront to CitiMortgage (which was extremely STUPID on my part) I would tell them where to go with their refinance package. What a scam they are running -- make you pay fees UP FRONT and then hang you out to dry. BE WARNED...DO NOT APPLY TO CITIMORTGAGE FOR ANYTHING UNLESS YOU WANT TO WAIT A MINIMUM OF SIX to TWELVE MONTHS FOR YOUR LOAN TO CLOSE.

Same exact issue. Existing Citimortgage customer, for 12+ years; never late; high credit score (810+). They solicited me for a refinance in October 2012; I was prompt with all documentation; it the end of March they were still giving me the runaround. They continually asked for additional and ever-more burdensome documentation --often asking for things that I had already sent or that they could have easily requested at the outset. I was told consistently that my app was in the "queue" with underwriting. In March I got an email telling me that the refi would close on a specific day that week, and later the same day received a request for more documentation (the sort of stuff that I would be unlikely to have on hand). Of course they did not close-- instead the next week they sent a revised GFE with substantially increased costs.

I contacted a mortgage broker who had good reviews online, and was offered a refi at a lower rate. The refi closed in less than 30 days from the time I first contacted the broker. Two days after I notified Citimortgage that I was withdrawing my refi application, they mailed me another solicitation for a refi. I think they are running a scam -- either they want to hang up existing customers in a refi process to prevent them from shopping for bettr rates from other lenders, or else they may be trying to inflate their numbers for programs like HARP by keeping a large amount of applications in their "queue" with no intention of completing the loans. I do not know if there is some benefit to them for that -- but I am guessing there must be.

I too have been having the same issues - slow - slow - slow. If I hadn't already had to pay 2 different subragation fees - I would quit this whole this and start over with a different bank. My parents had their house refinanced with a different bank and had it closed in less than 30 days. I've been a customer of CITI for over 5 years, and I have to write stupid letters as to why they checked my credit? Dumb. Will never use them again.

This is so true. We've been a loyal Citi customer and was looking into refinancing. Its been 5 months and the answer has always been the back office is all backed up and there is nothing they could do. Even calling the mortgage rep's manager does not work. No one would give me a straight answer. Good thing is that I didn't pay anything up front and will probably switch to another bank for the refi.

I had the same problem with CitiMortgage. Exiting customer, good credit and never late or missing a payment. They say they are swamped, but that is a bunch of garbage. If you came to them from another bank, you would close in 60 days or less. If you are already a customer, they drag the process to make as much interest off of you as possible. They come up with every excuse known to man. After 5 months, I started the process all over again with a local mortgage broker and I kid you not, they had me closed in 30 days! They even credited me for the first appraisal, so I only lost a small fee. I never told Citi, but soon enough they figured it. They all but begged me to stay with them. They thought I would play their little game forever, but in the end, I had the last laugh! I am thrilled to say that CitiMortgage and I are done! Go somewhere else, if you can and don't give them the satisfaction of all the nonsense!

CitiMortgage charging late fees when I submit payment on time

When I submit my mortgage payment online they can't, for some unknown reason, process the payment. I've had the same checking account for 30 years but they insist the account number is wrong! This is after I receive a confirmation number and then they let me know they haven't received payment 2 weeks later and charge a late fee of $64. This has been going on for 12 months despite numerous calls and attempts to make sure they have the right information, in person, at the branch office. I get nothing but the runaround from well intentioned workers here and abroad, however, no one seems to have the authority or intelligence to rectify this situation. It seems to me, that this is an extra revenue stream for them. It's probably legal, but morally, it is stealing.

CitiMortgage unfair service

My name is Jerry Stroud and I have a mortgage with citimortgage which I acquired in 2005 for my new home and in 2006 I got sick and had to go on disability in 2007 and in October of 2007 I put in for a modification on my home to citimortgage. They told me after I sent in all the documents they needed that they were going to modify my mortgage and my interest rate would be 2% and my payment would be around $550.00 per month for 30 years. Then they called me back and told me that my loan had been sold to fannie mae and I needed to contact them and get them to call citimortgage and get them to give citi the premission to proceed. After doing all this I was put in touch with some man at fannie mae that would not return my calls or have very little contact with me and this went on until March at which time I asked for someone else. I was put in touch with some lady that had a real attitude problem, at which time she told me she was not going to do anything citimortgage wanted to do and that she would do a modification for 3% the first year, 4% the second year and 5% for the remainder of the loan or the other option I had I could just sell my house at which time I had no other option but to take the modification. In 2011 I put in for another modification because my payments were back up to $835 and it was hard to make them, so citimortgage asked me for documents again, which I had to send them 5 times and evry time I talked to someone at citi about the modification I would ask about my payment and they told me just to hold off on the payments until the modification was done, which I though was stupid. My loan officer at citimortgage was LaWanda McCullors which kept telling me that everything looked good, then in March I received a letter from a lawyers office saying that my home was going to be actioned off at the court house in Alexander Ciity, Alabama on the 25th of April. I proceeded to call citimortgage about this and they told me that they could not talk to me about this I would have to discuss this with the lawyer, so I called the lawyers office and they told me that they could not discuss this with me I would have to contact citimortgage. This went on about a week with me not being able to talk to anyone about the problem, then I got in touch with a Mrs. Moses with citmortgage that told me the modification had be done in March before the lawyer sent the letter and that I needed to make 3 payments of $885 for April, May and June, so I gave her my check9ing information and told her to just to draft my payments out so I would not get behind and they did for those three months. Still have not seen the modification, then this past week I get a bill from citimortgage for $13, 600 and it blue me away and I am still getting emails from Ms. McCullars telling me that she has all the documentation she needs. On the bill I noticed that my escrow was being charged $2400 for insurance which is a little over a $1000 and land tax that is $65 and the mortgage went from 28 years to 40 years and the payment went up. They have got me in such a mess I do not know what to do. I do not want to loss my home that I built. So please if you have any suggestions let me know, because these people are just stealing from us. Thanks Jerry Stroud 194 Stroud street Tallassee, Alabama 36078 phone [protected] or email to [protected]@live.com

CitiMortgage citibank mortgage - blossom hill, san jose, ca

I've been pre-approved for a loan by ZG ( Citibank loan agent) for over a year. The second pre-approval by ZG took a month to get authorized which to me was ridiculous since the first took less than week. Finally after house hunting I found a home I loved so the application process began. You'd think it'd be so much quicker after being pre-approved for a loan. I was already putting over 50% down payment on the home $550K. Who would have known what a horrible experience it has been trying to buy a home through the use of Citibank Mortgage. The whole process felt long and tedious. It's not a great experience. I felt they were just finding reasons to disqualify you for the loan. There were 3 contingencies to lift and we got all the way to the last contingency and I never felt comfortable lifting because ZG was never giving me that comfortable feeling that the loan was good to go. Mind you that my realtor and the seller of the property were hustling to get everything to close timely but Citibank Mortgage took forever to get things done. I even had to talk to ZG boss and everyone I could above him to get things done. The underwriter was so anal about every little thing and wanting more and more. At the end, it took about a month, ZG calls to ask me for more paperwork and said it should be the last but no guarantees. I almost lifted the 3rd contingency about the deposit. ZG to call me hours later to tell me I didn't get the loan on the same day. The reasoning was ###ed because it should have been revealed like week one, NOT week four. AND he did not even offer any options possible. Citibank Mortgage is so disorganized, ZG was the worst, he couldn't do his job right, he should be FIRED. Everyone in the processing dept sucked and they don't know what they are doing. They not only made me lose the house of my dream, almost made me lose my deposit if I had lifted the 3rd contingency in the contract, and even more money I had put in to get the loan through. I am also a CitiGold member which obviously to Citibank means nothing special because customer service for Mortgage was near to nothing. My family has so much money in that bank that we are now thinking of relocating to another bank because of the worst service ever! Don't ever use Citibank Mortgage because the are not reliable and waste all your time and money and effort.

CitiMortgage harp refinancing

I have a high interest rate on my mortgage.(5.875) Citimortgage led me to believe that I would qualify for the new HARP mortgage adjustment. MY income has dropped and I do not qualify for conventional financing because of debt to income. My home is worth approx $630k and I owe $420K . I have made all of my payments on time and even paid ahead a little. My credit is perfect. I am forced to live on savings but that wont last forever. I was rejected because they believe that I have the ability to make payments for a long time. Not true. It took alot of time and paperwork to apply for the modification. What a waste. My home will be for sale soon. Please do not consider the HARP program or Citimortgage

I was tortured by Citi Mortgages loan modification program for over 12 months after losing my job last year and being unemployed. They FINALLY approved the modification in January and as of June 27th 2013, still had not sent me the final paperwork on the loan modification. They kept telling me to make my normal modified payment until I received final documentation. I found out today that they sold my mortgage and NO, it was not notification from Citi Mortgage! I still don't even know what this means to my credit score, or my mortgage. I contacted Citi and they couldn't / wouldn't even tell me what terms my loan was sold under! DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT do business with Citi Mortgage. If your loan is sold to them, as mine was, refinance immediately and get AWAY from these unprofessional liars! Con Artist! Legalized Con Artistry!

CitiMortgage misapplication of payment

My home mortgage is held by CitiMortgage. I deliberately paid more than the required amount and instructed (on the enclosed payment ticket) that overpayment of funds should have been applied to paying down the principal. Instead, CitiMortgage applied the extra funds to the next two months' payments. So most of the overpayment went to pre-paying interest, instead of paying down the principal. A phone call corrected the situation. I'm sure Citi will just reply that it's an honest mistake, but I suspect otherwise. 1. They disregarded my instructions on the payment ticket. (There are boxes to fill in to tell them how much goes where.) 2. They also ignored their standard operating practice--to apply any overpayment to principal--which is printed on the payment ticket. 3. When I've overpaid in the past (albeit by smaller amounts), the extra money always went to reducing principal. 4. Who the hell pre-pays interest? Had I not been anal enough to check my statement, I would not have caught the sneakiness of CitiMortgage. Their oversight may have only cost me a few dollars of interest (took a month for me to find their 'mistake' and correct it), but repeated over tens of thousands of customers it's not an insignificant amount.

I have had the same exact issue. I filled out the extra coupon for principal payments and had to call every time for Citimortgage to apply it towards principal reduction.

they just told me today that regardless of when I make my payment (10 days early or 10 days late), if it falls within the grace period, the same principal and interest payments are applied. I don't think that is legal as they have my money for 10 extra days. (I was making my payments early to try and chip away a tiny bit) I realize that we backpay interest but they are screwing the people that make their payments early and hurting themselves if they pay within the grace period. I somehow don't doubt though that my end of term balloon payment would be larger if I was consistently utilizing the grace period...

CitiMortgage refinancing

I've been a perfect customer with Citi for 10 years. Never EVER late on a payment. Lost my job last year, now making half what I was, and mortgage payment a serious struggle. Attempts to refinance sent me back to Citi, who keeps bouncing me around from one department to the next, saying "we can't help you". The last one said "you can pay to buy down your interest rate" which sounded like a scam for someone with an 800 credit score.

In 2013, I attempted to refinance my mortgage interest rate to a lower one. Since I had been on time with payments and had good credit I did not expect issues. My home's tax assessed value was almost double the refinance amount. I foolishly allowed them to use a "preferred" appraiser selected by Citibank. The appraisal came in a lot lower just 60k over the refinance amount and they refused to refinance. I challenged the appraisal to no avail. So, one year later I contact Citibank for a copy of that appraisal done for the refinance and low and behold, it is not the same figure given to me a year earlier. It was changed to match my tax appraisal amount. Some shenanigans here! They sold my mortgage to another lender. Good riddance, they are crooks!

CitiMortgage unethical practies and refusal to mod loans

I am a single mother of 2, I have been a homeowner for the past 8 years (2 with Chase and then Citimortgage for the past 6 years with an adjustable rate). About 4 years ago I received a letter from Citimortgage stating that they are opening an escrow account on my behalf and my mortgage would increase by $600.00 per month. I spoke to an agent and they advised me that they paid my taxes for me, I have never had an escrow and I pay my taxes with my bonus check every year with no issues. The rep told me that I needed to apply for a mortgage modification, well I did, I was approved and the offer was to raise my mortgage by adding a $4500 shortgage and a escrow account on to my loan. Needless to say, I did not accept these terms and worked to get the escrow account closed. Everytime after I called in I was told that the escrow was opened because I applied for a modification and I had to explain numerous times the escrow that the only reason I applied to get the loan modified. After about 6 months of fighting to get the escrow account closed I continued to pay my mortgage because I wanted to keep my account in good standing (I had late payments about 5 years ago but got current and still remain that way). Now this year my mortgage is steadily increasing because of the adjustable rate I decide to apply for a modification under the National Debt Settlement, I was told by I qualified for this option because my account was current. I was then told to fill out the expense report and assigned to Homeowner Support Specialist: PATRICIA SOTO [protected] ext:0366405PATRICIA.A.[protected]@CITI.COM This person contacted me on June 6, 2012 and stated that she would call once per week to let me know whether or not there was an update to my file and that I do qualify for the settlement. I have not heard from this person since, I have emailed her which she has read everyone and called and her extension is not valid even the reps I spoke to tried and they told me to keep emailing her. However, I received a letter stating that my income is too high to have my mortgage balance settled, which the use gross income and that was even overstated. I did get an approval where they would modify my mortgage from 1211.24 to 1651.45 they are doing me a favor by adding a $600.00 escrow again. Yet if I do not accept this modified payment as of Sept. 2012 my mortgage which is not $1211.24 will be increased to 2, 125.79 because they will still do me the favor of adding an escrow to my account in the amount of 914.55 per month. I nelieve that I am being forced into a loan modification or foreclosure. I can't refinance because the loan is upside down that was the reason I contacted them for help in the first place. Not sure what to do but I am about to start looking into bankruptcy.

They did the same to me but they applied it toward my escrow! I agree, they did it purposely to not allow me to pay down my principal faster.

CitiMortgage this bank has destroyed my entire life!

This seems to be a never ending saga of the Banking Woe's in the United States of America. In Ice-Land, The Citizens refused to bail out the Banks and their "Crappy Deals" and those Banks that survived did, But many of those TWISTED BANKERS went to JAIL. Unlike here in America where the Bankers after causing the loss of Millions of American's homes all received Million's in Bonus pay.

I was injured after working many years and because of this injury knew in advance I would need to not only modify my loan but wrap all my debt's into a single payment as I would shortly be on Social Security Disability.
My first shock came when HSBC Nevada and CapitolONE refused to honor the Credit Protection that I had on ALL my Credit Cards. This would include Dell Financial (Also Citi-Bank). I was supposed to have coverage for Loss of Work, Disability and Divorce. By the end I met all 3 of these stipulations. But was turned down as I was now called a SMALL BUSINESS. Yet Coke-a-Cola is also a Small Business (YES) and you can BET all their CEO's have Credit Protection.

I have 2 other Complaint's filed on this forum against Citi-Bank.
I applied for a Loan Modification so as to redo the Loan to a payment that I could afford on SSI-DI and also to fix my Roof and pay what balances I owed on my credit cards off. My Home was appraised and it was worth $110, 000. What I was asking for was for less then 1/2 of that amount between what was already owed but the additional and Roof repair and Credit Cards. I assumed it would be no more then $53, 000.

When I talked to Citi Bank I was told that I would have NO PROBLEM is my request and was sent overnight a Fed-Ex form to fill out. Which I did and returned within the 24 hours it requested. About 3 weeks later I called after hearing nothing, I was then transferred to their Loss Mitigation department and it seemed like the Ball was finally rolling.

Then I was told that I would now NOT qualify for the loan as I was CURRENT in my payments. I asked what all I needed to do to obtain the loan and they told me they would HALF my Payments so that in 6 months it would show me behind what was needed to qualify for the Loan Modification. I was then told to make any and all future payments to Citi Mortgage Loss Mitigation Dept. Which I did. 3 Months later I received a email from a Credit Watch program that said I was having Negative Credit post to the Credit Bureaus. So I called only to find out it was Cit Bank who was posting this. I called Citi Bank.

I was told that they had NOT received any payments in 3 months. I said that is FALSE as I have canceled checks to prove the payments were all made and all made on time too under the new agreement. I then was told after about 30 minutes on the phone that (Oh, Our Loss Mitigation Department's Computers DON'T POPULATE with those of Citi Mortgage Collections Dept.) As if some how that was My Fault?

Then about 2 weeks later Dell Financial CLOSED my account. Citing Mortgage NON-PAYMENT. I recalled Citi and again was told this error would be corrected. About 5 days later I received statements from ny Credit Cards that said my current credit of 7- 9% was being raised to 29%. This would move my minimum payments from near $12.00 a month to $45-$68.00 a month. Being on SSI now I could not even afford that.

I have gotten so far behind that I can barely survive now. My Power Bills were close to $200.00 during the Winters here in Montana so I even had to go to EZ-Check to write a check to get money from my next SSI payment to cover current power bills. This is when HSBC illegally took 2 months of my SSI funds. They got away with it because I had deposited the Ez-Checks Cash into my SSI or home Checking account and since they were not SSI funds it is legal to take the entire account? Violations of both Federal and State Laws. But who cares, I am Disabled.

I recontacted Citi Mortgage and I was assured the Credit remark was or already had been NOW corrected and that my application and all were still moving forward. Time passed. In my other Post's you will see that it was 16 months of elapsed time. In which I called the Montana State Attorney General who told me to be prepared as they will totally destroy my Credit. I asked him WHY? He said they do this so you cannot take your Loan else-where. However. when it came time to finally get the Modification I was denied what the Original modification was for.

This has go on since November of 2009 and my credit was destroyed by Citi-Bank. Then came the news that my House Insurance was dropping me. So Citi-Bank was going to put Insurance on the House to cover their portion of the loan and I was screwed should something happen to my personal stuff. This raised the $297.00 a month to $411.01 a month. Now back to where I cannot afford to live. No Jokes.

About 10 days ago I heard a bang during the night. I was shocked to see my Ceiling had collapsed from where the Roof finally gave out or in. Now the Carpet is shot, Mold all over and all over the remaining ceiling to. Since I am 100% disabled I usually lay in bed a lot as I am in so much pain and live on Fentanyl and Morphine to get something out of life each day.

I have over the years sent letter after letter to our States Governor, Citizens Advocate and cannot receive any help what so ever. With each rain comes more damage and there is not a thing I can do to stop it. I have been lied to over and over by Citi Bank, Had my Credit destroyed in so many ways by Citi-Bank. I can't even change tires on my vehicle that are cupped badly as I have had all credit destroyed. Can't even file bankruptcy as I am BROKE.

The Banks in the United States continue this THEFT of Personal Credit and Properties by their sneaky ways to defraud customers and millions and millions more American's will loose what they have too. This as the SSI is swindled, Pensions are stolen and for those that think they have it made... Your Turn us coming.

Our Government is COMPLACENT in their aiding and abetting the Banks to allow them to continue on the course they are taking. Not One Indictment, Not one Jailed. Both Local and Federal Governments do nothing to stop these Banks.

Does ANYONE know a Lawyer that help's the Disabled? I mean helps that doesn't charge $5000.00 to represent them. Does any American have any MORALS left yet today?

Behind all Politicians' is BANKERS that Lobby for their OPEN THEFT of America and it's Citizens. Maybe I need to call a Chinese Bank to get some real help since Our Banks have closed their doors to the personal needs of their customers. Fail Fail Fail!
