I have been dealing withe the Niagara Falls branch of CitiFinancial for years, and the Manager, Denny, as well as the staff, Leena and Jenny were absolutely wonderful to deal with. They treated everyone with respect and understanding and worked with you when you fell on hard times, going above and beyond to find solutions.

On November 30th, 2011, the Niagara Falls branch was closed and my account was moved to St. Catharines on Ontario Street. The branch Manager there, Cindy, who used to work in Niagara Falls has treated me with respect and understanding. Unfortunately, for some reason the Assistant Manager, Lisa started to call me instead of Cindy. I tried to explain my situation to her (I was terminated from the job I held for 20 years when the business was sold and have not been able to find work since. I am 62 years old), but found her to be threatening and belligerent on the phone. I told her I would bring in a post dated cheque to cover a partial payment, but that was all I could possibly do at this time.

I drove to St. Catharines on Wednesday and met her in the office to give her my cheque as well as proof of my Employment Insurance and my bank statement which she had requested. After she reviewed my paperwork, she started to question me as to why I wasn't paying the loan from the EI I had just received, to which I told her I had to use it for rent, food and Christmas as that was all the money I had until the New Year. She acted as if she was disgusted with me and nastily told me that I HAD to make sure the cheque went through as dated while looking at me with disgust.

When I left the office I was in tears from the way I was treated by her and it bothered me all night. I was so upset about the way I had been treated by her that the next day I went to Money Mart to get a cash advance on my next EI payment of January 3rd, 2012, which of course is going to cost me more, but I didn't want her threat hanging over my head any longer. I took the cash to the St. Catharines office, paid the amount owed and got my cheque back, thankfully, she wasn't there.

I proceeded to tell the staff how I had been treated by Lisa and they said that they heard her and that she treats a lot of people unprofessionally every day, and that includes the staff that work there.

I have been in the public service sector for over 40 years and NEVER have I, nor would I ever treat anyone with the disrespect that she did. She certainly gives CitiFinancial a bad name!

I certainly hope that head office will do sometheing about such an employee. I can only hope that one day she will find out what hard times are about, the frustration and humiliation that people suffer during their struggle to survive.

@ D.L.G. that will change we will wait to hear from you in another year or so when you realize that you got screwed over.

Oh Patricia never ever give them your bank statements they are a bunch of ###, they will use the info and access your bank account without your consent that's what these people do. I'm so sorry your going through but for your own good stand up to them you will feel so much better once you defend yourself against these scam bags.

I am in the process of trying to get a petition together to have laws against Predatory Lender setup here in Canada I believe companies like Citifinancial are Predatory Lenders I actually have proof that they did finance my loan without my consent and knowledge and added a Financing fee to boot. I've setup a facebook page called Citifinancial - Predatory Lenders its just new but I wanted to start it so I had someone to first file my Petition for people to sign, I hope to have it up soon. I'm hoping to start working with my MP/MPP to put what I need in the Petition.

People...wake up and smell the coffee. Citi Financial, like all alternative loans companies take a huge risk loaning money to people with less than perfect credit. If you want to complain about the rates- go to a bank
I have had and currently have a loan with Citi and have never been disrespected by any of the staff

I worked for Citifinancial for many years, not until I found employment elsewhere did I realize how badly we really screwed people over. Take CAD for example "Customer Appreciation Days" it is not about the customer, it is all about rolling the customers loan so that we add in all the interest, renew his insurances so he is paying top premium again, so they solicit in November no payments till next year, ya right, they take your November interest December interest add it to your balance and start your insurances all over again, Also is there a reason to charge 29.95% percent and higher. Delinq is a big focus for Citi you have to make the bottom line look strong at all costs. I now longer tell people that I was a district manager for Citifinancial,

OH Patricia:

Thats how all the staff from CitiFinancial work the ones that were being nice to you were tricking you these are not nice people. When you take out a loan with CitiFinancial you make a life long committment to stay with them, they trick you into renewing. Since your out of work maybe see if you can get legal aid and go for settlement with them so you can get away with them, next they will be wanting you to give them all of your old age security. You can't win against ### and thats just what they all are.
