Citibank credit card fraud

As a soldier recently returning from a deployment to Iraq, I found that my goverment credit card had been used without my consent, and had filed an identity theft report with the local police department and the FTC. I had called Citibank several times to resolve the issue and their own investigators deemed all charges to be fraudulent. SOMEHOW, I am still responsible for the charges as my wages are being garnished. In attempt to once again 'resolve" the issue, I contacted Citibank and they gave me yet another number to call so the garnishment would cease! It sure would be nice if someone would answer from this mysterious phone number. I have waited for 3 hours at a time trying to get ahold of someone. Unfortunately, the small task of protecting this country is calling my name... and I am forced to return to work being once again the victim of fraud! This ime by Citibank.

Citibank over charge

There have been complaints about Citibank for years and no one has done anything about these crooks. That's all they are, legal loan sharks. After having an account with them for ten years or more out of the blue they raised my interest rate to 34%. I am assuming that sooner or later they do this to everyone that has an account with them. I think if the government did an investigation they would see this. This happened to me six years ago. I borrowed from my 401k to pay them off and wrote them a nasty letter telling them I would never do business with their company in any way again. I haven't and won't. The government is only helping them, not us. Best thing we can do as consumers and hard working American's is get out from under Citibank! Pay your cards off and don't do business with theives such as Citibank!

Citibank use of abusive language

I have got a call from landline number 011-[protected], telecaller named Manju was asking about Manish, I told her in a desecnt tone that there is no Manish on this number then she replied that you are telling a lie because I had spoke to Manish on the same mobile number few days back. Then I tried to convince her that i dont know any Manish and this mobile number belongs to me ( Prachee Sharma) from last 6 years. When I cut the conversation then she again called me with abusive language, also she was threatning me. I request to this complaint forum that they should take necesaary action against this unit of Citibank or else I will take this matter forward.

Citibank credit rate increase

I have also suffered the 29% interest hike, on my personal credit card, rudely enacted by Citibank. I understand the times we are in require desparate measures. I feel their pain - I am in the military and deal, on a daily basis, with the outcries of people opposed to US military actions, worldwide. To that end, I have never used my military status for personal gain, however I feel justified in saying that I sacrifice a lot to defend the freedoms and people of this country so some appreciation would welcomed. As an active duty member who has a great credit rating and having never been late on payments, I am truly outraged that my family and I now have to sacrifice even more to ensure the profit margin of Citibank continues to increase. Is that what my service means to this company? What is truly insulting is that, as a military member, I am bound to use Citibank for business expenses. I wonder how much Citibank is fleecing the US government on interest rates for this program. I believe in the right to make profits as any American, however, when you step on the toes of those who defend your right do do so, then you have crossed an ethical line that will (hopefully) come back to bite you in the rear. I'll be sure to advise all my military friends to avoid Citibank!

I have had a rate hike of 50% since January of this year! That was from about 13% to 20% now. I also make all payments on time, have a credit rating of 820 and a balance history of just about $500 a month (i.e. LOW RISK). So did Citibank just do this increase across the board, and not on a case by case basis? We know they have the statistics on all of our accounts - so why do they do this? I'm 'opting out' of these new 'terms' as my card doesn't expire until 2012 (so I can keep my rate of about 17% until then - still outrageous). They can terminate me then, as I DO have the option to choose a company that won't stick it to me to keep their profits up or to compensate for all those poor individuals who lost their jobs and had to file for bankruptcy.

Citibank won't stop calling

Orion Marketing Group on behalf of Citi won't stop calling me. Countless times they've woken up my two young children when I put them down to bed. I have asked to be put on the DNC list and have registered on-line, yet they still call. Their sales reps are always rude and incessantly try to forward me to a specialist. They should be shut down!

Citibank citibank would like me to starve because I cannot verify my address!

I opened a new account over the phone with Citibank, I just recently moved to Los Angeles from NYC and my original bank was with an institution based in New York, so I decided to close that account and re-open another account I made with Citibank. Everything went well, I received my debit card in the mail and decided to deposit my 1st paycheck in the ATM. Note that my employer has a business checking acct with B of A and are only able at the moment to fund my checks thru this account until they are able to establish a payroll system.

I went to withdraw the available balance which was $200 and the ATM says they were unable to perform that action. This was Monday. Tuesday I went into my local branch which was the Little Tokyo location on 1st street. I explained to them my situation and they told me there was nothing I can do I have to call the call center and finish the verification process thru the mail. I found that UN-ACCEPTABLE! I am standing here in person with a valid driver's license, a SS card, birth certificate, and mail FROM Citibank and you can not verify me?

I called the New Accounts Support call center and I was told that I should be able to withdraw from my account if I brought my SS card and debit card to the branch. The branch explains to me that it is up to a manager to perform that transaction and low and behold, they don't have a manager at the location. I will have to visit another branch. I called the Chinatown branch, and they explained to me that they ALSO WOULD NOT be able to perform that transaction because I need to verify myself through the main office.

So now my account is blocked. The call center tells me to close my account OVER THE PHONE and they will mail me a check for the amount in my account. What they are not understanding is I have absolutely NO FUNDS at all to survive. I told them I have no money to feed my family until I can withdraw from my account. I signed up for this account with NY ID and my Los Angeles Address. If this was going to be a problem they should have stated so over the phone when I first setup the account instead of holding my money hostage! If I was trying to commit Identity Fraud why am I crying the branch from the humiliation of explaining to the personal banker that I don't having any money to feed my family and I need to withdraw right now! I live 2 blocks from the branch in a well known luxury apartment complex. This is absolutely ridiculous that I have to fight over the phone and in person to withdraw $200! And to top it off one the call center reps hung up on me! I've tried to keep my composure in reference to this situation but it's hard to do that when you don't have food in your stomach!

I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND CITIBANK TO ANYONE WHAT SO EVER! THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ABYSMAL! YOU DO NOT TREAT PEOPLE THIS WAY!

Citibank ks unemployment issued debit card fraud

The "Citi" Debit card issued by the Kansas Unemployment Insurance agency to distribute unemployment funds will allow unauthorized withdrawls/charges without requiring a signiture, or security code. They allowed my money to be illegally taken from me when I never used the card anywhere but at my own bank to transfer the funds over. This tells me that either the Unemployment office, the Bank, or Citi is stealing the card numbers, and making fraudulent withdrawls. They allowed six withdrawls in the exact dollar amount that were in my account, immediately after the funds were deposited, within three weeks. This sounds like an inside job.
The real kicker is that in order to report the fraud, I had to cancel the card, was issued a new card, and now the company won't talk to me about the account # that no longer exists! And when I spoke to them initially about this (prior to cancelling the card) they told me it would take at least 90 days to recover my money "depending upon how cooperative the other party is". If the "other party' stole money from me, why would I expect them to be cooperative. The company name that supposedly stole my money doesn't appear to actually exist when searched for on Google.com. As well, the Citi card company's phone message system begins by responding to the effect of "if you are calling about a card that has been lost or stollen..." so obviously I am not alone. On many occasions I have been placed on hold by this company and the KS Unemployment office's phone systems in excess of 45 minutes, and lately the Unemployment Office's phone will hang up on me before I ever get to speak with anyone. Mind you, this is time that should & could be spent searching for a job.
Nearly $1400 has been stollen from me, and from Kansans like myself & my spouse who pay into this system. It was stolen from me during the three weeks following the delivery of our baby. Who could be so heartless? Any recommendations on how to proceed? I feel as though I am at a dead end in the yellow brick road. Steve Six's office can't help me because they can only pursue the Consumer Protection claims, and apparently this does not qualify. Please help!

I recently lost my job because of layoffs (again) and never received my new card and when I called the bank to see what was up the lady on the line told me that they mailed my card a week ago and when I asked her what address they had for me on file she told me that she could not tell me! After being on the phone for 3 hours I was able to list off an old address I lived at 7 years ago which is the one they sent the card to. Why did they not ask me to update my address when the unemployment office had the correct one on file? Took another week for me to get a new card in! My first unemployment pay out was sent to the account on Wed and withdrew the same day without my permission and spent another hour on the phone trying to find out where my money went and come to find out they sent it to an old bank account I had on file from 7 years ago that's awesome, an account that my ex has! Was told if the account is still open there is no way I can get the money back unless I go to my ex and just ask for it back!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I just want to say this is the most unprofessional place to deal with and full of people that just don't want to help, everything is well it'll fix itself in a couple of days but lets make sure it doesn't happen again! THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Its insane now. I live in California but still recieve unemployment benefits from Kansas and so I wake up every morning at 5:30 in the morning and start calling the unemployment office because once again mymoney is not coming. So after answering a few questions it puts me on the first hold, which you will go thru every time you call, then after about 6 - 8 minutes the automated system comes back on to ask you some more questions and for your SSN, then after all of that it tells me that too many people are already holding and I need to try again later. So I do try again, as a matter of fact I call all day every day for the past 2 weeks and it always gives me the same message. I mean WTF does anyone work there anymore? And then Citi Bank, oh wow citi bank is amazing isnt it? They lost my first card, lied about it, then sent me a new card. Now when I call you have to listen to 5 minutes of some dumb broads spiel about stolen cards and checking your account online. If I wanted to check my account online and put my password out there for a virus to catch then I would have got the address off of the back of my card and did that, but no I called and I dont want to hear your dumb ads. I am seriosley on the brink of losing it over unemployment and its [censor].

Citibank customer loyalty is a joke

I've been a Citibank customer since 1972, when it was First National City Bank. I've been a Citibank Mastercard holder since 1979. I've got both personal and business accounts at Citibank. I hold a Citibank mortgage in good standing. I've had several Citibank loans and lines of credit over the years with no blackmarks. I even worked for Citibank from 1989 to 1993; during its good years, when it put high stock in product quality and customer relations.

As a freelancer, my cash flow depends on my clients' payments to me so my payment history with Citibank has always been irregular. That is, a late payment last month, an over-payment the next, well over the minimum payment due.

Nevertheless, the card rarely carried a balance over half its rather puny $8800 limit. On average, the card carried a balance of $2200+ from month to month.

It's always been this way. Citibank happily took its late fee and extra interest charges without complaint and said nothing about it -- not even a phone call to warn me that my payment was overdue. Until this week.

I received an automated call telling me that my credit line had been cut by 60% to $3300. There was no warning that this would happen.

A call to two Citibank CSR stiffs was pointless. They were as robotic as the Citiphone IVR system. I was told that because I was late with my August payment that my credit limit had been reduced -- despite the fact I paid off $2, 000 on the card three weeks later.

I've probably been late with payments on that card at least 300 times over the past 30 years and Citibank never complained about it before.

This is how the Citibank weasels repay 35 years of customer loyalty? By telling me that I can't be trusted with more that $3300 in credit card debt, despite the fact that I also carry a quarter-million mortgage with Citibank with zero late payments?

This is pathetic.

Frankly, the only thing that separates one bank from another is customer service. Citibank's customer service took a nose dive when it lost John Reed and Larry Weiss.

I use the credit card for business and without a worthwhile balance on it, it's got little value to me. Which means that Citibank has little value to me. I might as well close my Citibank accounts and move them to my credit union, which gives my a higher limit and where I at least get free ATMs.

Citibank hold on deposits

A check I deposited was put on a 5 day hold - this is a check from my financial advisor, Primerica, drawn on a PNC account. I asked why is there such a long hold on their "parent company" check and was told the merger was not complete and PNC was, therefore, a separate bank. Because of this long hold that I was not expecting, my account is in a negative balance and NCB has started assessing overdraft fees to my account and will continue until the hold is released after the 5 day hold is complete. I asked the branch manager where I opened my account to release the hold and refund the fees - she said I had to contact the branch where I made the ATM deposit. I contacted that branch manager who referred me to the other branch - bouncing me back and forth. Both refused to help me - I have filed a complaint with the Office of the Comptroller and my state's attorney general. I told each manager that once my account is settled, and they're done making money off of me, I will be moving my $$$ to a credit union.

Neither one seemed to care.

Citibank credit card bill payment

--- Enclosed is a copy of the message.
Dear Officer,
I have a platinum credit card with no: [protected].I have a balance of 307246/-Rs.As per the bill generated with due date on 11/08/09 I paid a cheque for an amount of 100000/- with cheque no: 640500 SBH bank Bellavista branch, Hyd dated 9/08/09.After 3-4 days of the payment I started getting calls from citi bank left and right saying that the amount was due.Inspite of my repeated telling that I have done the payment they kept harrassing me with atleast 5-6 calls per day. After a few days I got a letter from citi bank stating that my cheque was tampered and please send another cheque immediately. In the place of my account no: one letter was darkened by sketch pen by SBH bank officials when they issued the cheque book itself. When enquired with SBH bank they said that this cheque had not come for collection and if it would have come we would have honoured it.In the mean while as a routine the phone calls from citi bank was repeated for the payment due.To each Tom, Dick and Harry I had to explain what has happened.but they presumed to be ignorant of the fact.Immediately I send the 2nd cheque dated 10/08/09 with cheque no:361892 from the same bank and branch and I posted the same to chennai. But still the payment has not reached your place and phone call repeated. Then finally citi bank people said that they are going to send an executive to collect the same and kindly do the stop payment.I did so.Since 3 days they are repeatedly calling that they are going to sent an executive to my place and so far that is not happening, but some or the other fellows are keeping me calling and saying that my bill is pending and they are going to send the executive.Iam rellay vexed with this attitude of yours. Finally I have made a decision that to pay the entire amount at one go and terminate the relation with these cranky fellows. The reasons are simple

1.I am a citi bank credt card holder since 8 yrs almost and a platinum member
2.These types of tantrums have happenned with citibank earlier also and with lots of appologies and excuses further the relation resumed.
3.Iam advisor A.P.State Govt.and have no time to squander with these buffoons.

pls take necessary action and let us wind up.

I tried my best to clear all the outstanding amounts but now I don’t have capacity to pay due amounts. & now I am completely depended on my relatives and My credibility is also zero in other banks due to name in CIBIL.. I have informed over telephone to Recovery department executives of your bank about my current position. Citibank overcharged

Ahhh, where to begin? I have been a Citibank customer for more years than I can remember. I called CITIBANK to close my bank account because they had recently acquired CAL-FED, and my "free" checking account suddenly had fees-for-nothing. Since there are many places that offer free checking, I closed my account, or so I believed. I suddenly received a statement in the mail for negative $9.50 for their October service charge! I was stunned because it was my belief the account was closed! I called to complain and they refused to reverse the charge because the account wasn't closed! I explained it was THEIR FAULT that it wasn't closed, but they *still* refused to reverse the charge. In fact they had already added the monthly service charge for November and I was nearly $20 in the red! I know it's not a lot of money, but it's the fringing point! They still refuse to reverse the charge and I refuse to pay. I guess they will now wreck my credit but it's the principle of the matter.

Be aware of CITIBANK - they are *only* out to make money and are not interested in customer relations.

Last week I received my monthly Sears Credit Card Statement. The interest rate for regular External and regular Sears purchases had increased from 12.74% to 21.99%. I have an good credit rating and have never been late on a payment. When I called the 1-800 number, I was told there was a change in terms agreement mailed out in January.

The prime rate is currently 3.25%. The discount rate is currently 0.5%.

Today I receive in the mail from Sears the special interest rate checks. In the fine print at the bottom of the page, it says: 'As of February 1, 2009, the variable APR for both regular External regular Sears purchases is 21.24%.' My interest charge was for the month of February.

When I called Sears, I was told the change in terms agreement now says APR is based on the highest prime for the last three months plus 17.99%. December 1, 2008 prime rate was 4%, therefore, my rate is 4% + 17.99%=21.99%.

If the new terms are as Sears now says, APR should say 21.99% as of February 1, and then 21.24% as of March 1. Sears could not convince me they are not using two different formulas.

Either way, Congress' failure to enact the Credit Card Protection Act has given banks the legal right to loan shark.

As a former employee of AT&T, I was guaranteed an AT&T Universal Card for life for no fees. They have recently canceled this account because I live overseas. I have lived overseas for over 16 years with this card and have received statements and been able to use my card with no problem.

I want to know how they can just decide to not honor their commitment to provide me this card with no fees for life, especially since I have lived overseas for over 16 years and had no problems until now.

Citibank is in fact only out to make money! They make decisions as to when to post debit transactions, so they have you overdrawn and charge fees!HORRIBLE BANK!They also refuse to close your account when you request it because they want to charge you fees every month! I refuse to poay them unfair fees!

Citibank fraud/theft

I hope that no one out there ever has to do any kind of business with City Bank. Where I live that is one of the most common banks but today 8/28/09 City Bank decided to close out my fiancee's bank account without giving him any notice. It is funny the reason that City Bank or it's rep Ken in Morton gave for closing the account that it was a courtsy checking account so the only people that could use the account or deposit money into it are those who are listed on the account. Well the funny thing is that City Bank along with their reps are bold face liars, theives, and the company is a fraud. I was refunded the excessive money from my collge tutition and had it direct deposited into my fiancee's account. Well apparently when this money went in City Bank decided to close his account without notice because I still owe them money which I admit I do owe but I have been making payments when I can even if it is just $5 which proves I am trying to pay off my debt to them. Well again they closed his account and sent my paycheck, my college money, and his check back but not all his check they keep more thant 1/2 of it but he did not owe anything. Additionally the rep Ken and another rep adivised that it was in the fine print that only those who have their names on the courtesy checking account can use it well my fiancee has had the account for 2 years now all my checks have been direct deposited into his account even my huge income tax refund, and I have even gone into the local bank where we live which is in Morton and have signed my check over to my fiancee so that it could be deposited into his account so the whole no one other than the account holder can use the account is a bold face lie because City Bank started having a problem with me when I was not able to make payments but between paying them and having food, shelter, and water for my children well screw City Bank my family is more important. Please anyone stay away from City Bank additionally my best friend is facing problems with them as well she had several small charges she made to her account by way of her debit card the charges posted right away well she had to use her OOPS one day but the bank decided to move the smaller charges and post the large charge which should have been covered by OOPS first so this caused her to have to pay 6 $27 overdraft fees when orginally it only should have been one $27 overdraft fee. Please Beware of City Bank!

Charges from Google Money Profit started appearing on my credit card without my having had any contact with this firm. I'm grateful that Citybank's early warning system caught this fraud early on. However, it's a nuisance to have to close one account and open a new one.
