I was charged on October 11, 2009 by this credit monitoring service. I did not give my permission for my credit card to be charged. I called a number to cancel what I thought was this credit monitoring service. It turned out to be a Chase Presige Card number. I have contacted Chase and must send documentation about this charge. I have no documentation - no email, no mail, no phone call.
I want to cancel this service and have it removed from my credit card.

I have been trying for months to resolve this issue and still can't seem to get anywhere. I always review my credit report at least once a year and have simply paid a flat rate. In 2007, I did the same but had read that anyone can get a free report once a year. Since the website indicated that it was generated by Experian, I felt it was reliable.

Since ordering the report in early 2007, I have had unauthorized monthly charges that have CCI Credit Monitoring in the transaction report. I have called the customer support number several times and spoke to a real person once who assured me that I would not be charge again. Funny thing is, the charge of approx $10 was credited once and a new monthly charge of $11.95 has been applied from that point on. I have sent several emails, with read receipt. A read receipt was returned on the first email but never again.

I did contact my credit card company who said I would have to file a written report with documentation of all my attempts to resolve the issue on my own and that it could take several months for the matter to be resolved and my money returned.

Has anyone had success at putting an end to these unauthorized charges?

I found a credit card charge I didn't recognize. Upon following up, I discovered someone else had signed up my card for the service, with their own name! CIC Credit had accepted the charge without matching the credit card number and name on account. This allowed the fraudulent charge to go through. A very, very, very poor approach to online security but a GREAT way for them to make money off us.

This month we have been tight on cash and watching our spending and on the week where we are going close to being in the hole we are getting fraudulent charges posted to my bank account and if it clears there will be an over draft fee and if there is i will be back in contact to receive what was taken from me for no reason! Note to self I AM A [censored] WHEN PPL TAKE MY MONEY WITHOUT ASKING!

Call your credit card company, report credit fraud and identity theft. They will refund all of the charges, however they will also CLOSE your credit card account, and have to open a new account, mail new credit cards etc.

Easiest way- The supervisor of CIC hung up on me.

My credit card has been charged two consecutive months for some service from CIC that I neither authorized nor asked for. I am now having difficulty with the bank trying to get it removed. Whats the next step?

There's a website with some really good tips on how to get your money back. Apparently this happens to thousands of people and %60 of them get their money back... but I'm assuming that's only because most people don't realize that they are getting charged or are not firm enough over the phone. Here's the site I used:

I just noticed this oufit has been charging on my wife"s credit card for three years! She thought it was for a credit card machine we own. No e-mails or verification on any services they had been performing for us, just the constant $ 9.95 charge. WE are preparing to sue them in small claims court for fraud plus attorney fee!

I also cancelled this service...this is my 4th attempt...they do NOT provide you with a confirmation number so there is no proof as to wether or not you ever called!

I have been charged by this company for over a year! It is completely my fault that i allowed it to go on for so long, but as i said i cancelled well within my 30 days and then 3 other times to no avail!

Well hopefully 4th times a charm.

This A.M. I called CIC to cancel this service, once again. I cancelled once before, before the trial period ended. But now they say they never received a call for cancellation. They did everything possible to keep me attached to this debt on my credit card, even telling me that there was an alert on my card. They wouldn't tell me what the alert was, but said they had e-mailed me, but I didn't find that e-mail either. They wanted my social security number and my credit card number. At first I refused, as they must have all of that information or they couldn't charge my account in the first place. I gave them the last four numbers of my social and the last four numbers of my credit card, but they said they couldn't cancel unless they had the complete numbers, which as you know, is crap. I have notified my bank of this fraudulent action and hopefully all of this stops. I have been charged $11.95, for the last three months, without my permission. Enough is enough. I wonder what their credit scores look like?

So if you are like my husband and I, ConsumerInfo.com, Inc., an Experian company has been charging you each month for a "service" that you know nothing about or ordered. Now, you're frustrated and feel violated that these people continue to rob you of your hard earned money and you feel helpless. Well, you're not helpless. For all of you who like myself live in SoCal, you can visit their offices directly and demand that they give you your money back. Feel free to bring with you a man in blue (yes, that would be a police officer). Or, if you don't live near by, here is what you can do.

Call the Irvine Police department at [protected] and file charges against CICI ConsumerInfo.com 18500 Von Karman Ave Ste 400 Irvine, CA [protected] www.consumerinfo.com. Also make sure that you also file charges against them and Experian (formerly TRW), P.O. Box 2002, Allen, TX 75013; (888) EXPERIAN [protected]) with the BBB (Better Business Bureau), Attorney General's Office, FTC (Federal Trade Commission), OTS (Office of Thrift Supervision) OCC (Office of Controller and Currency).

So, if you're tired of waiting for hours on hold when you call the number listed on your account statement [protected], you can now call their offices directly and please, go straight to the top. Here is all of the information that you will need and also the names and tittles of some of the folks at Experian Consumer Direct. I hope this information is helpful.

Free Credit Reporting...we pay someone to watch-dog our account, but in reality we have to watch our own accounts to avoid being "secretly" charged by these thieves. They allow themselves to sleep at night because they is fine print notation in grey ink, which most people cannot read.

*They will however refund a two-month credit to your credit card. Please make sure you demand this, as it is well deserved.

hey everyone, i noticed 39.95 taken from my credit card from the cic credit report and looked into it, i saw all the complaints about it continualy taking the money out every month. i found out that it is a company through Experian. they have offers in the amounts of 12.? and 14.? which might be what you got singed up for, i was in the same boat and my bank helped me contace the company where i found out that i had an account. i suggest that you contact experian and either cancel your account or find out your user name and pass word and put your account to use -dan

CIC is a big rip-off company. They rip you off anyway they can. I had have been taking my money, $12.99 every month for almost a year after I had canceled it which I never signed up in first place. I called them up again to cancel it. We should all right to the California State Attorney General for class suit action.

I FOUND A CHARGE 4 9.95 AND GOT THERE NUMBER VIA MY BANK AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE A CREDIT MONITORING SERVICE AND THAT WE HAD VIEWED OUR REPORT THROUGH THEM UNDER A FREE TRAIL, WE HAVEN'T VIEWED OUR REPORT IN AT LEAST A YEAR AND IT WASN'T THROUGH THEM, SO I WANT TO KNOW HOW THEY EVEN GOT OUR INFO. AND STOLE MONEY FROM US.

I have had the same problem. They said to get on the site to find the number to cancel. I tried to go to the site and could not remember the password. I could not access it either. So i am stuck with this bill every month. I got the same run around as everyone else has. If someone knows how to get it canceled, please email me. This has cost me. It has made my account overdrawn more than once and cost me 33.00 dollars every time plus 9.95. If anyone can help me on this let me know. I want to know why they can continue to screw people and get by with it.

Same experience with unauthorized credit card charges after purported free credit check. Is there no way to initiate effective limits on what appears to be common and continuing wrong doing by this company?

I called the CIC and was on hold for a good 5 minutes. Then I tried my credit card company and told them about the situation. I was told to call and cancel. I called the number on my statement and spoke personally to a representative and he explained that CIC is an affiliate of Experian through which I received my free credit report. I insisted that I did not authorize the deduction but he tried to explain that there is a free 30-days trial and if i did not cancel then I will be billed. So I demanded it to be canceled.

My husband and I have noticed that almost every month that CIC has been taking $9.95 being taken out of our checking account. I tried to get hold of the rep in Shelbyville, Ky but got a "no longer in service" voice on the other end. There is a lawsuit going on against this company but I can't find the email address for that and the time to get involved is almost gone.

My husband and i also did this credit report..."free", and now six months later we noticed a 12.00 dollar charge from cic. We went back in our statements and noticed three so far this year, which means they probably have been charging us for six months for something we did not order. It is really disturbing because i called the company and they refused to help us with out our card information and ssn.
I got pretty rude with the guy on the phone and demanded to speak with the supervisor...
He was a joke too! I told him that i wanted all the money that his company stole from my family refunded. It was a lot of ### and it was worthless. My only suggestion to anyone else who gets fraud ed by these people is to cancel your credit card asap! They cant charge you if its canceled. Then alert the bbb, attorney general, and the fed trade commission.

Good luck

I saw that someone was complaining that CIC Credit Monitoring was charging them $9.95 a month for some service that they were scammed into. I also was scammed by this company. It has been very hard to contact this company to terminate this service. However, I finally found their contact information and was successful in terminating the service. The contact info: http://www.ciccredit.com/contact.asp and their phone number is [protected].

Company deceptively marketed "free credit reports" by not adequately disclosing that consumers automatically would be signed up for a credit monitoring service also by your practice of causing the annual $79.95 charges to be assessed for payment without the consumers' express, informed consent causes, is likely to cause, or has caused, substantial injury to consumers other than me that is not reasonably avoidable by consumers themselves. Your company also failed to disclose or to disclose adequately in their advertisements or on their websites that the "free" credit reports they were offering were not associated with the annual free credit report program . It also failed to explicitly disclose that subscribers would be automatically signed up into a paid credit-monitoring program.

I was reviewing my bank statement and notice that I had been charged $79.95 for a monitoring service that I have never received a report from. I remember about 2 years ago, I tried to enroll in the credit monitoring service but was unable to download a report so I called the monitoring service and ask them to disenroll me, they told me I must be doing something wrong while trying to download the report, I insisted they disenroll me, I thought they did. They charged me again on 03/08/06 for $79.95 and when I call the [protected] I get a answering machine that kept me on hold for more than 40 minutes, I called 5 times pressing each of the information numbers. How do I stop this company from charging my credit card.
