Chrysler cranks but will not start

I used a generic scan tool and the code was P0340 -- the camshaft position sensor malfunction.

I put a new crankshaft position sensor and new spark plugs and wires and ignition coil.

The ASD relay and fuel system is working properly.

There is just no spark and the motor has 65, 000 miles.

Why did you replace the crankshaft sensor when the code was for the camshaft?

Chrysler poor service

I brought my Town and Country minivan in for a normal 6000 mile oil change and lube. I made an appointment two days earlier and if they had told me that they were busy, I would have waited a day or two. I have a service agreement. In addition, my rear break lights and turn signals aren't working and I wanted it looked at. I brought the car in at 7:30 AM. He told me that he would call me back about the lights. At 4:00 PM I had not heard anything from the dealer. I called. It was obvious that the service tech had totally forgotten and said he "was just heading over" to see what the status is and that he would call me back. 20 minutes later I got a call and he told me that they had done nothing and promised me nothing. My service agreement gives me a 1 day car rental. He did not offer to extend it and I had to demand that he did. He still didn't know when they would get to the car. This is the worst service I have ever seen. My advise: NEVER EVER BUY A CHRYSLER and never even stop at Normandin Chrysler in San Jose.

Chrysler bunch of crooks

worst place to buy a car, their cars have a profit of up $10 thousand dollars. if their vehicles are listed at $25000, means their cost is only $15000. So be carefull what kind of deal you are getting. Sales person tells you to give them your credit card and we will give you a crazy deal. thats bunch of BS. dont fall for that. its just their way of getting you on the worksheet. after that they will try to sell you on a payment. also tells you that they have made calls on your car to see what its worth. they just put bunch of BS numbers on the paper and show you. always try to steal trades from customers. THATS A REASON THEY HAVE BUNCH OF PEOPLE MAKING OVER $200 GRAND A YEAR. RIPING PEOPLE OFF IS AN ART FOR THEM, dont fall for their trap. STEVE PHILLIPS WILL TRY TO GIVE YOU FREE GIFTS IF YOU MAKE A DEAL, SOMETIMES 2 OR 3 GIFTS, you can buy those things from COSTCO FOR LIKE $50 T0 $100 DOLLARS. they tell you they can take you out of your lease or finance with no money out of your pocket. but real story is they take your vehicle on a trade and they money you loose they put it in your payments. so instead of you paying 400 dollars for your old vehicle you now pay 600 for the new one, so your loan gets even bigger and bigger, it affects you in the long term. by the time you are done you pay lots of more money, when u are doing the deal it doesn't seem that bad but take your calculator and do the math. ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS HELP YOU PEOPLE OUT. NOW ITS YOUR TURN TO BE CAREFUL AND DON'T LET THESE CROOKS RIP YOU OFF.

Never never never ever buy from that dealership. I did buy a used Mazda 5. From the very first day of ownership there has been an issue and had it in 3 times for service. They said it had bad gas. They say they change cv shaft. Yet the car still has initial issues. I was told it’s an old car. Maple ridge Chrysler deserves 0 stars for a rating. 0 stars

Unhappy with Maple Ridge Chrysler
Langley, CA
Aug 01, 2013 9:42 pm EDT

Have had my 2008 Jeep Wrangler serviced at MAPLE RIDGE CHRYSLER for the last six years. I have spent so much money and time in service costs (more than our Mazda and Honda combined; and each car are 11 and 10 years old, respectively). After each service visit, there was always another upcoming problem to be checked on the next service date. I guess buying a cheap vehicle means more to fix afterwards. My service visits averaged $600 each time and I was never satisfied because something else would go wrong. I strongly believe they sabotaged my car (and maybe others) for our money. Word of advise: NEVER BUY CHEAP JEEPS OR IF YOU HAVE ONE, DO NOT SEND IT TO MAPLE RIDGE CHRYSLER! They will take all your money and time. Fortunately, I am a housewife, so work did not ever have to interfere with my Jeep being in service. I averaged 2 - 3 visits a month!

Chrysler dishonest car dealership

Stay away from this car dealership. They are uncaring about how they go about getting a sale. I had told the salesman about the option i wanted and also it was the most important part of the sale.He said it was a cheap to install and only take a couple of minuted. When i asked how much it would cost the service manager told me it would be $460.00. I had already signed the papers for the car and there was little i could do about it. After contacting chrysler they told me that they can not do much about it because they do not have much control over the dealerships. Something else they do is force you to charge you credit card for a downpament and write up the sale even before they tell you what the payment will be. When you try to talk to managemnt or salesman about your complaints they will hang up on you. I could not believe how much they lie after the sale, I hope this help someone. I should have read all the bad reviews before going there for the first time.

I found out they really don't care about their customers. You know it's bad when the Chrysler consumer affairs division tells you I should let the attorney general in the state know what they were up to. Chrysler paid for remote start to be installed. If this helps one person from getting ripped off then it was worth posting.

I was screwed over big time! I had a 2014 Dodge Ram and they gave me a crappy 10k mileage for 1 year. Which if you are someone who has a job and need to leave your house then you know that 10k miles is not enough. Well in Feb 2015 I was 10k miles "over" and I panicked and called the salesman Jared at the Avon Lake branch who was so great when I bought the dodge and I thought he would help me...NOT! I called crying and explaining that I am 10k over in my 1st year and by the end of my 3rd year I will owe a fortune in mileage and can he help me. He said he had another vehicle that he could switch me into. So I went and he showed me a 2015 Jeep Patriot which I truly didn't like and told me how it would be $399 a month, which was almost $100 more a month then I was paying for the dodge. I told him, no way because the car is ugly and why would I pay more.. So I started walking away and then he said but this is a year newer and it has all the bells and whistles of ### warmers, heated mirrors, ect and I can start fresh on my mileage. so unfortunately I said ok and signed and left. Well its been 7 months and I hate this jeep so I stopped in another dealership to inquire about when I may trade this for one of theirs and they called my financial company for the Jeep and the buyout is $28, 000! The jeep is not even worth $17! I am clueless when it comes to negative equity or knowing that he was going to add my Truck remaining payments! I am stuck with this jeep for 29 more month paying a high amount and cant trade it at all! I will never go to Ed Tomko in Avon Lake again and hope I never run into the shady salesman and finance guy WHO NEVER once told me that I was going to be penalized in some way because I would have kept my truck! Again, Ed Tomko in Avon Lake and sales rep was Jared!

Chrysler low-balling

The Jacksonvill Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership appears to be a professional facility- however please ask for a written itemize service- I had my Chrysler 300 towed and agreed to a diagnostic test and later received a call that I needed a new engine- I wanted to tow my car away and that’s when the scam and low-balling started- the cashier told me I owed about $2000.00 and then the manager told me that oppose to the $1180.00 charge it would be $600.00 to put my car back together---I emailed the owner and he stated that his employees quoted me $600, which was untrue and I called Chrysler company and they stated that independent Chrysler dealerships are franchised companies and have nothing to do with Chrysler unless the issue is a manufacture. Please ask for an itemized estimate- I had to pay 588.80 plus towing fees and that was not for repairing my car. The owner states this is normal practice for service departments and they tell you that your car has not been repaired so they don’t have to provide a repair estimate.

I went into Jacksonville JCD on Black Friday to take advantage of their awesome door buster deals and to buy a "new" used car. I had received a pre approval from a lender and was only looking for the vehicle to fit the approval's perameters. When I arrived on the lot, Ron was the first to "greet" me by trying to qualify me, rather than really caring about the vehicle I was looking for. Once we got past all the formal b.s. we went to the used car side of the lot to begin looking for a vehicle. Keep in mind, before I ever began looking at vehicles I made Ron aware of prices, year model, mileage exceptions. He showed me first to an '03 Ford Explorer. The vehicle seemed in great condition but alas the miles were too high. Well, good ole' Ron had the perfect solution, there were TWO vehicles on the lot for me to chose from. There was an '06 Trailblazer with 60k miles in great shape and an '06 Equinox with rear bumper damage (need I say more). So I decided to take the Trailblazer out for a test drive and everything went perfect, once back at the dealership it was time to get down to business. Now, you know that someone has something to hide when they refuse to give you the price of a vehicle, nor will the provide a CarFax report (I found out later the vehicle they were trying to sell me had been in an accident). After spending two and a half hours waiting for all the paperwork to get started, I found out that they had run my credit and was trying to use another finance company. First of all, why would you run someone's credit if they have a pre approval, second, why didn't they just use the pre approval that was given without trying to be shady and run credit without letting me know that's what they were doing? Ok so, after we get through this garbage they tell me just go home and they will call me. Well I am glad I didn't hold my breath. It took 4.5 hours on Saturday to finally get ahold of someone. This is where things went from bad and shady to down right unacceptable. I was given a run around by a "Sales Manager" name Mike, who told me that my pre approval was no good, I needed a cosigner, and that I need $2500 down because that's the fee my pre approval company charged. So I called the loan company only to find out he is a liar. So to squash all of the doubts, runarounds, and lies, I made a 30 minute trip from the beaches to the dealership. When I got there, my sales guy was willing to help despite the fact he was busy, he went in to tell his "sales manager" I had come in to finish the deal. when he returned he told me all of the ridiculous conditions that had been given over the phone. In order to take care of any doubt, in the middle of the dealership, I got the loan company on the phone and handed the phone to Ron. Ron tried to get his "sales manager" to take the phone and talk to the loan company however he was declined because he knew he had been caught in his lies so instead of owning up to them and apologizing he stayed in his little office and sent poor Ron out to say, "sorry but we WONT do anything for you". So if this is the kind of experience you would like in trying to find a vehicle run right on down to this rip off and have a great time!

I was there when she agreed to the disaasembly of the vehicle to evaluate the engine condition. The engine upon
disassembly was too badly damaged to be repaired. She needed a new engine because it had been overheated to a
point that it couldn't be repaired. I understand that nobody wants to recieve bad news like that and if it could
have been evaluated without disassembly time we would have done it to spare expense and get right to the needed repair. My boss always tries to please customers. The owner is a kind and decent man who has time and time again paid for things out of his own pocket to make a customer happy and continue doing business with them. There was no fraud or scam involved.

Chrysler auto repair/customer service

I took my vehicle into the Chrysler garage for an oil change. I began smelling burnt, I initially thought they had spilled some when replacing it & assumed it would burn off. The smell continued. I checked my oil & it was a quart low. I attempted to call the Chrysler Dealership Garage & they would not answer their phone & when they finally would, they would be very rude & place me on hold & eventually disconnect my call. So, I took my car to my mechanic & he asked me who changed my oil last, I told him & he stated, the oil filter is so loose that he could turn it with his finger & for me to take it back up to them. The smell was coming from the oil dripping by the oil filter, which was landing on my solenoid to the starter. So I returned to the Chrysler garage with my car. The service department manager was very rude & stated, "it was only a little loose." He then informed me that I was almost due for another oil change & asked me why I waited to contact them. I explained that I had made numerous attempts to call them. In my opinion, if you messed up my oil change the first time, then he should have just completed it again. I then spoke with the head manager of the dealership & he stated, "We will talk to the oil tech and let him know that he has to tighten the oil filters." He was very arrogant about the whole situation & then offered me a free oil change to use at another time. At this point, they had been so rude that I would not have returned my vehicle there. I took my car to another garage to have my oil changed & was informed that the oil pan plug had been stripped. Once again, I attempted to take my car back up to Chrysler & they stated, "There is nothing we can do about that." I have made numerous attempts to contact the manager & he will not return my calls. My car then started having a difficult time starting, I assumed I needed a new battery. I then found out that it was in fact the solenoid was blown because of all of the oil that had previously dripped in it. I now had to replace the starter. The manager still will not address these issues with me. This is not an acceptable way to treat customers.

DO NOT BUY YOUR VEHICLE FROM BERTERA

I purchased a car from Bertera and brought it back to them twice WITHIN 30 days. Each time they said nothing was wrong with it and told me to bring it to Toyota, "they would say the same thing". So I brought it to Toyota and at the time I brought it to them it went over 30 days. It turns out the car needed a new engine.

I was stuck dealing with a lawyer for a year and had to get another reliable car to drive in the mean time. After a year of dealing with a lawyer I only got $1000 while the new engine cost me $6000. I had to save up enough money to replace the engine and at the same time pay two car payments and insurance on both cars.

Another year went by and I was still not able to sell the car by itself so I had to trade both of my cars in for one car. Now, years later I'm basically still paying for two cars due to all of the negative equity, and will be until my car is paid off.

Do not buy from Bertera, they ruined my life.

Chrysler liers

My wife and I bought a 2010 Dodge Journey from these guys. We went in with a letter they mailed to us saying they'd give us 125% of Kelly Blue Book value. Not up to...but we WILL give you 125% for your trade in. We called the night before and confirmed that they'd give us the 125%. They confirmed so the next day, my wife and I drive the 45 min to see them. We tell them that with that offer, that covers our trade in so that we can start fresh. From the beginning, they pushed us to this 2010 Journey because it had huge rebates. Fine...we looked at it. We started working the numbers and they payments were WAY above what we wanted to pay. We asked what the price of the car was. They wouldn't tell us, just went back to rework the numbers. This went on for over an hour before they finally broke it down for us. They were going to give us almost 10K less for our trade in then what they sent us in the mail. They tried to screw us so we gave them the flier THEY sent us. They went back to "re-work" the numbers yet again. They finally came back after another 30 min with a price. It sort of worked for what we wanted. I asked for my keys back to my trade in over 3 times so my wife and I could go to lunch and talk about it. They said, "No, take the new car" Fine, we got in and the saleman got in with us! We couldn't even go to lunch and talk about it. Talk about freaking pressure! We were stupid and signed the bottom line when it was all said and done because we were tired and frustrated and just wanted done. The story goes on and gets worse from there, but I'll stop here. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER buy a car from these A-Holes! They'll screw you at every corner.

It's more about the story that I don't talk about that makes the whole situation worse. The car deal itself was not the primary issue, just the tip of the iceberg. I'd write a novel that nobody reads if that were the case. Just mentioning to NOT buy from Raidon's!

Purchased a new Jeep Wrangler for my wife from Rairdon Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Kirkland, December 2011. The jeep had water inside at the time, sales manager told me it was caused by an open window and not to worry - they would dry it out and guarantee no leaks. I have two signed condition of sale documents from Rairdon. After 5 repair attempts the Jeep still leaks and is mold growing inside.
Come to find out these Jeeps are prone to leaking and at the time I was told not to worry their service department had a back log of leaking Jeeps to repair. Two days after the most recent repair (2 weeks ago) there was 1 inch of standing water on the driver’s side floorboard. Now they are telling me I should take it to an auto body repair shop to see if they can resolve the problem.
Rairdon lied about leaking Jeeps and is unwilling to resolve my problem – just keep getting the run around & offering me excuses.

The complaints are valid, I will tell everyone DO NOT BUY FROM RAIRDON! I bought a new 2011 and the car has been in service longer then I've had it. They gave me a loaner and when I came in to see what the delay was they took the keys out the loaner and said they didn't know where they were. Finally they agreed to get me a rental, which I would have to pay the security deposit and use my insurance. Well I felt I shouldn't have to pay for anything, was so upset I started crying and then they returned the key to the loaner. This was an all day process and I was inconvenience in every sense of the word! I didn't deserve this treatment and can't dismiss their behavior, I wish I had never came to this dealership. I still don't have my car, they are definitely A-HOLES.

Chrysler do not buy from there!

Westborn Chrysler is a dealership ripping people off. Arranged & confirmed all details in writing for a new 2011 Cherokee with salesman Joe and when I showed up - the price had changed to a much higher price. I had my CDI #, however, Jeff the finance guy said they cannot accept the CDI price - wrong! Jeff is rude, and your typical salesman that we all dislike. He has no clue what he is doing. When I was in the office purchasing my car he left & came back multiple times, speaking to Gordy the owner and then returning - of course with different numbers each time. Filed complaints with Chrysler and beyond! Just a scam. Do not buy from this dealership!

Chrysler runs your credit and will never hear another word from them.

This is a Horrible Dealership. We went there looking for a Dodge Journey. We made the hour trip to Cunningham to get a Journey at $16999. We had an elder man for a sales man who did not seem to know much about the vehicles we were looking at. He brought the Journey to us, it was a very nice vehicle but it was a bit small. We found a really nice 2006 Jeep Commander that we wanted to purchase. It was a saturday and we were the only people at the dealer. They pulled us into the showroom and asked us what we were looking for. We told them we wanted a Chrysler product (we had a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 156000 trouble free miles.) They said the Finance manager was out and they could not tell us anything today. They took our information and looked at our jeep. It had high miles but everything workedincluding the a/c. It had a sunroof, 6 Cd Changer, heated seats, leather, 4x4 all the options except 4.7 v8. They told us they would give us $900 for it. We decided to wait until monday to hear what they said about financing. They said if we got approved they would call us. We never heard another word from them. We went to another Chrysler dealership bought a 2008 Durango and they gave us $3000 for the Grand Cherokee. Cunningham runs people's credit get a inquiry on report and never calls them. I'm not the only one they have done that too. They did the same exact thing to my daughter on a 2007 Pacifica. To add to the problem they used the EXACT banks the second Chrysler dealership uses and they had NO problems getting us approved. STAY AWAY FROM CUNNINGHAM CHRYSLER in EDINBORO PA!

I took my 08 Dodge Ram 2500HD to Cunningham's in Edinboro to get my exhaust manifold replaced that had rusted out, truck has 40, 000 miles on it, when I picked up my truck it had like a grinding noise so I looked into the noise and found that the service dept. at Cunningham Chrysler had left my motor mounts loose and the fan was hitting my fan shroud and breaking it into pieces. I returned to the dealership and they have refused to do anything about it, they say they didn't loosen the mounts even thought the Chrysler procedure states to loosen the motor mounts and raise motor to have room to remove the exhaust manifold. I guess I am to believe that my motor mounts just came loose on their own ? I advise you NOT to do business with Cunningham Chrysler in Edinboro, PA. NO SERVICE AFTER THE SALE !

Chrysler shady business practices

I found a car I was interested in purchasing thru cars.com @ Lafontaine of Saline. Before I scheduled a test drive I called to verify that the price online was the price wiether you financed the vehicle or paid cashed. I was told the price stayed the same, wiether you financed or paid cash. After test driving the vehicle and reporting noticed issues (which were suppose to be handled but I later discovered weren't...more on that later), I decided to purchase the vehicle.

Going thru the financing, I notice the price of the car has been altered, increasing an additional $2000. I ask "Why did the price of the car go up". The finance manager Kevin Commander stated "Thats a finance charge the bank charges us (the dealer) to process the loan. Thus we have to pass that cost onto you." It made sense at the time, so I continue with my purchase.

Well a few days later, I find out that not only does this loan processing charge NOT EXIST, but that they (LaFontaine) had the same make, model, and color of the car I purchased with several THOUSAND less miles & more features than the car I purchased for 99 DOLLARS more than my vehicles purchase price. I was even told by one of SEVERAL reps & supervisors I spoke to at the bank that "this isn't the first time we've been told they (LaFontaine) have stated that we have additional charges to the consumer besides the finance charges, and whatever charges you have for warranties, gap, ect."

IF YOU BUY A CAR FROM LAFONTAINE (ESPECIALLY THE BRANCH IN SALINE) BE SURE TO SECURE YOUR OWN FINANCING AHEAD OF TIME! DO NOT DEAL WITH KEVIN COMMANDER! VERIFY ALL FEES WITH WHATEVER BANK YOU ARE PROCESSING YOUR LOAN THRU! GET THERE EARLY SO THE LOAN IS PROCESSED IN ENOUGH TIME THAT YOU CAN CALL THE BANK AND SPEAK TO SOMEONE THERE TO VERIFY ALL FEES! AND BE SURE TO GET A THOROUGH CHECK ON YOUR VEHICLE AFTER THEY'VE SUPPOSEDLY "FIXED" IT. The repairs I was told were made to my vehicle weren't (about $500 worth of repairs). When the same issues arrised the next day, I took the car to my mechanic @ Belle Tire and was told NOTHING was repaired/replace!.This was my first time purchasing a vehicle (I previous leased) and Lafontaine made it a HORRIBLE experience. So if you go there to purchase a vehicle, DO YOUR RESEARCH! ESPECIALLY WITH FINANCING! BEWARE OF LAFONTAINE OF SALINE!

Chrysler jimmy moore

There is an elderly woman, her name is Eva (83) that gets up at 3:30am every day to take complete care of Jimmy Moore's Dis-abled Mother. Jimmy Moore is the President of Greenbrier Chrysler Jeep. This elderly woman takes his mother everywhere, feeds her, helps her bathe, takes care of her pet, etc. for a long time now and instead of giving this caretaker a vehicle and monetary help, H e sells her high priced vehicles and then charges her thousands of dollars every year in un-needed maintenance. This man can not be a Christian and has alot to learn about right and wrong. You might want to consider the kind of people you are dealing with if you shop at Greenbrier Chrysler Jeep.

Chrysler engine failure and numerous other probs

2005 Town and Country Mini van--I have 30 pages of repairs--bought this new--Chrysler would even laugh when we came in saying "oh not you again". 5 documented complaints of engine noise--always blown off. Was even given a free extended warranty to 70000 mi b/c of all the problems. Opened two client cases with them. Three sets of brakes, new engine, oil pump work, tire problems, and power steering sensors and pump replaced, transmission work, radio work, door tracks replaced twice on both sides, interior and exterior parts falling off and on and on. So last week at 72000, the engine blew a rod. We had free oil changes with the dealership and had them regularly--but they refuse to help! Last Phil Long closed-- they lost some of the repair records. Even the mechanic (whom works for GO Chrysler) said he could not believe they wouldn't help me--he was a very nice man but said it was out of his control! Oh but they can offer me a new engine for 6700.00. UGHHHHHHHHH I will never buy Chrysler again,

Chrysler gary miller jr.

Purchased a 2008 Jeep wrangler at Gary Miller Jeep Chrysler in June 2010. Soft top began leaking considerably end of october and the heat did not work. Had vehicle in to my local dealership three times. Made uncountable complaints to Chrysler company. A salesman at the delaership offered me a trade for a ford f150 which had twice the mileage, was a year older, and would have cost more. Just recently spoke with Gary Miller Jr. who stated that he didn't make the vehicle and that the vehicle is defective. When I asked for his help saying that he sold the vehicle to me he stated "so what". Stay away from this dealership. They are rude they do not care about their customers and do not stand by their products.

I have a 2012 Jeep wrangler unlimited (JK). The lower door hinges are rusting, coming from behind the paint. This vehicle is 3 years old and Chrysler will not do any thing to fix it. I worked for Chrysler/Jeep for 15 years as a tech, and this is my 3rd wrangler. I have never seen this happen to a 3 year old vehicle. They did not put this together right whether it was bad sealer or just no sealer this is going to be a big problem. I have sent in a complaint to the BBB but haven't heard anything yet. Wrangler owners beware!

Chrysler bad selling practices by car dealer

On October 15, 2010, we finally decided, after nearly a month researching, to go to a local Jeep dealer and try to purchase a 2011 Grand Cherokee. We researched all the different models and options before we found the color and model with most of the options that we wanted (Inferno Red – Dark Leather Interior – 18” Wheels - Tow Package Group IV - V8 - Grand Cherokee Laredo) at Cortese Chrysler Jeep Dodge. We used www.jeep.com to search new inventory in our area and I found the Jeep above at Cortese. The website was helpful in that it listed the options and accessories of all the Grand Cherokees as well as the price. For the above Jeep the price was $40, 605 (w/ destination charge included in the price). We looked over our finances and determined that with some negotiation, we could afford to buy this Jeep or something similarly priced. We had a 2009 Mini Cooper S that we wanted to trade in and $10K in cash to use for a down payment. We never thought that we would experience such problems with a new car dealership we encountered at the Cortese Auto Group.
We saw the Grand Cherokee that was on-line in their lot and proceeded to look it over. The sticker on the vehicle showed all the options and the price was $40, 605 (same as on-line). We test drove the Grand Cherokee with a newly trained sales person, Joshua, who seemed nice enough, but clearly hadn’t yet learned all the features and functions of the Jeep. After driving the vehicle we were very impressed. Our next step was to go inside the dealership and try to negotiate a deal on the Jeep.

We filled out some details about our trade in, a 2009 Mini Cooper S w/ all the” bells and whistles”, with a documented pay off value of $18, 179.71. This was directly from the bank and below the official blue book trade-in value for our Mini. They agreed to give us $20K trade in for the Mini and to sell us the Grand Cherokee for $40K (less the ~$1800 remaining on trade in). We agreed with this and proceeded to fill out the preliminary paperwork. Upon going over the numbers, it was noticed that the original price of the Grand Cherokee was $41, 604. This was in conflict with the sticker price on the Jeep as well as the price on-line. We brought this to the attention to the sales person thinking that they made a mistake. I showed the sales person the price off www.jeep.com as well as the sticker on the vehicle. He could not explain this inconsistency and left us to talk to his boss. He came back with his boss and told us that the extra $999 was for a dealer addendum which included a clear coat protection for the fenders and windshield treatment similar to RainX. We were told that every car on their lot has this addendum. (Side note: At a later date, we looked at their website and there was no mention of this addendum anywhere.) We were told that there was suppose to be an addendum sticker next to the factory sticker with Cortese’s price. Funny thing is… There was no addendum sticker on any of the 2011 Grand Cherokees in their lot. They proceeded to blame the “Stupid lot boys” and told us “they should have put the stickers on” and that they have been screwing up a lot lately. We were even told they had to recently fire one. We then asked why the sales person didn’t tell us about the addendum up front. To us it seemed as though the dealership was being a bit dishonest. They said it was a mistake but were not making any money on the deal and they couldn’t do anything for us. Discussions became very heated and stressful. We finally got them to tell us that the addendum cost the dealership $150 to apply it to the vehicle. This is over a 600% markup. Does this seem honest? We realized that the dealer wouldn’t compensate us for their mistake (except 2 free oil changes), we conceded and agreed to purchase the vehicle at the before mentioned deal ($40k – Jeep, $20k – trade-in Mini).

We finished filling out the preliminary paperwork but were told that the dealership was encountering a large number of deliveries and were extremely busy. They took the Mini insurance cards, registration, etc… and asked if we could come back at around 5:30 – 6:00pm (they close at 6 on Fridays) to sign the papers and take it home. We originally arrived at the dealer at approximately 10:00am and were there until approx 3:30pm. We hadn’t eaten and had just been through a very stressful experience. We were happy to go and get something to eat and come back. We had been there way too long.

When we returned, our sales person, told us that he tried to call us and left a message on our cell phone saying that they were unable to get the paperwork completed before the bank, DMV, etc. closed. We didn’t hear the phone and therefore didn’t check the messages. Joshua then told us to take the car w/dealer plates and come back tomorrow (Saturday). Note: They never detailed the vehicle; they just quickly wiped the inside and we are not even sure if they washed it since it was raining.

We set up an appointment to return on Saturday at 10:00am to finish the paperwork. On Saturday, Joshua contacted us and asked if we could come in at 11:00am instead as they were again, really busy. We did that and arrived at 11:00am. We first brought it to the attention of the sales person that some scratches on the vehicle needed to be buffed out before we bought it. They agreed to take care of them (another day) so we scheduled the appointment for the following Friday. For our hassle, Joshua also agreed to give us roof racks for $209 (wholesale). The paperwork was ready and we finished filling out the paperwork that the sales person needed. We then proceeded to the finance office to finish the paperwork. At this point we purchased a 7yr, 60k mile extended warranty. We accepted the horrible sales experience and moved on. We were satisfied with how the finance process played out and were very happy with the new Grand Cherokee.

Friday 10/22/10: We still had to bring the car in for them to buff out the scratches (three different locations) and to look at the driver’s side mirror that was not affixed properly. The mirror piece was not seated into the frame due to the seal material being misaligned. They fixed the scratches but stated the mirror was defective due to the manufacturing mold for the mirror being out of spec. If they just order a new mirror it will also be defective. We must wait until Jeep fixes this problem and creates a new stamp (mold) for the mirror. I was then told there was no reason to place a warranty claim in. When I told my husband what Cortese had told me, the first question that he had was “Did you look at the other Grand Cherokees on the lot? They must all have defective mirrors too… sarcasm?” After he got home from work he proceeded to take the Jeep to Canandaigua Chrysler Dodge Jeep. They looked at it and said they would order the part, call us when it comes in and replace it with no problem. Really? So is Cortese just incompetent or are they intentionally dodging warranty work?

Just when we thought we had put these bad experiences behind us… On November 1, the dealer called to say we had given them the wrong payoff balance for the Mini and we owed them money for the difference. After investigating the situation more closely we found out that they in fact paid off the wrong car loan… (yes, that’s right). They paid off our Volkswagen Tiguan. That loan was at a completely different bank than the Mini and also had a different payoff value ($17, 081.17). At the time of sale we had given them the pay off value of $18, 158.74 for the Mini. They were now saying that we owed them the difference of $1077.57. Really? How does a dealer pay off a loan at ESL for a Volkswagen Tiguan when they received a Mini Cooper for trade and it was financed at Alliance? At first our sales person, Joshua, told me that it was my husbands fault. He said my husband told him the loan was at ESL and gave him the account number. This is a complete lie. My husband gave him no information and in fact didn’t know the account number. I gave him all the correct banking and account information for the Mini (including the correct payoff balance) at the time of sale. I tried to reach them, nothing short of 10 times in a matter of 2 hours. I was transferred to 3 or 4 people that couldn’t help. Finally I reached the General Manager, Joe Provvidenza, and made an appointment for the next morning at 11am to discuss this issue.

Tuesday, 11/02/10: Before my meeting with the Joe, I made some calls to ESL to find out how they could have made this error. ESL advised me that the loan had been paid off but then reversed, so it was ok now. More concerning than that was that they accessed the loan information, not with the account number but with my social security number. At no time did I ever give them my ESL account number and my SS# was to be used for a credit check. This is a complete misuse of the information and in fact resulted in them making a huge error. They not only accessed information I didn’t authorize, but they never checked the VIN# to see if it matched the car in their possession. ESL said they have never seen a dealer make such a huge error and ensured me that no other information about my accounts or status would be given to Cortese due to my complaint.
Once I arrived at my appointment, I was left in the lobby to stew for 30 minutes while every s
ales rep smiled and offered to find Joe for me. All came back empty handed and said, I’m sorry, he is meeting with “Mr. Cortese”…..again, not my concern! When I finally got into the office, Joe stated, there are 3 errors that happened.

1. Joshua didn’t accurately pass on the payoff details to the finance office resulting in the paperwork reflecting a value of $1077.57 less than what was actually owed.
2. They didn’t check the VIN# on the loan before paying it off.
3. You (yes me) signed the contracts with the inaccurate figures.

Joe then produced all the paperwork that showed I clearly gave Joshua the correct balance and bank details for the Mini. If Joshua had accurately passed them along, all would be fine. Since he didn’t and I signed the papers, I now owe them another $1077.57 (I tried to give them the Grand Cherokee back but of course they can’t take it back now)! Joe stated that he is under no obligation to take the vehicle back and that they are under no obligation to perform any checks and balances on any of the paperwork that their employees fill out. After 20 minutes of me reviewing the complete train wreck this whole deal was, he stated I would either pay it or be in breach of contract.

Well, I paid it. I then advised him I had already moved my service to another dealer. We had already had Canandaigua Jeep replace a defective part. The Cortese’s Body Shop / Kelly McManaman refused to fix this issue. I also told him I would do everything in my power to ensure that all the people in Rochester, in the market for a Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Lincoln, Ford, Mercury and Mitsubishi will know the truth about this dealer and find an alternative dealer to purchase from or get service.

I really didn’t have a good feeling about Cortese so I waited until the end of the week and contacted Alliance to see if the Mini loan had been paid. Well, it wasn’t (not shocked anymore). I called Joe and Joshua. Joshua assured me a payment had gone out “overnight” and they would receive it that day (Friday). The following week, on Monday, I contacted Alliance and they had not received the payment. At this point, the monthly payment was late (still in our name) and we were within the 10 day grace period. I again called Joe (who never called me back) and Joshua (now won’t call me back) and ended up getting Tony who promised to call me right back with an answer. He never did. I then resorted to calling the general Cortese operator and demanded to speak with the head of the Accounting Office.

These folks were nice, but stated they had sent the payment but weren’t told to send it overnight. I thought, well, at least Alliance will get it. I also questioned the payoff balance. It seemed that so much time had gone by that there is no way the payoff amount could be the same. She stated she sent the original amount but would call to get a new balance and send a second check. After a few days, the Cortese Accounting office called me to say they had sent the checks to the wrong address and wanted me to give them the correct address (why they didn’t actually call the bank, I will never know). It took more than another week for the payments to actually get there and be confirmed by the bank. I then left for a business trip and came home to a confirmation letter from the bank. The loan was finally satisfied (big sigh of relief…) and there was also an overpayment check of $3.67. At this point, all I could do was laugh at the complete incompetence of the entire Cortese organization.
After more than a full month, we finally have the sales deal sorted out but we had not yet received the permanent registration. Cortese assured us they had mailed it. After waiting 2 more weeks I called and demanded that they reissue the registration and to call us when they get it. We will pick it up, as our temporary registration was about to expired. About a week after I called, we finally got word they had the registration and we picked it up. Sale Complete! We love the Grand Cherokee but have to say that this was the worst car buying experience that we ever encountered.

Ok, deal is done after more than 6 weeks and while I can replay history in my head, I can’t change it. I can, however, do my best to ensure that all those in the greater Rochester area and those managing this experience will know how bad it was and do not repeat it.

Your not alone I leased an 09 mks 15000 down 577 a month for 3 years was told that would put me in a better position when my lease was up. When my lease was up my wife went back to cortese and was told the only thing new she could get for that payment amount was a lower model mkz then they talked her into getting it completely on her own her income alone and credit score would not support that dollar amount they managed to play with application numbers and push it threw. She hadn't even gotten the car home and cortese was offering the same car no money down 349.00 a month. The next day I went in and talked to Ken the finance guy and jarred the owners grandson and was told that add was just to get people in and no one would ever get that deal. There was nothing they could do she signed the deal and told me I got a great car. Since they had to let that finance guy go I don't have to wonder why. They are all about the money. The finance guy went as far as to tell my wife he was a Christian and his father in-law was a pastor. He won her trust. Talked to the owner about are whole experience he said none of this sounds right took my number and promised to call me back. Never did these people are snakes in the grass. I share my disgust with them daily and discouraged over 50 people from going there in the last year.
