Choice took my money and never paid my claim. It cost me $3000 to find out from them that they find excuses not to pay.
I had a 22 year old air conditioner unit to break in 100 degree heat in Texas/ called them/ repairman came / claim denied/ Choice said my unit was too old and rusty to repair, (but I had the unit serviced a year and a half ago)... and Choice did not pay. I had to have a new unit installed at cost to me/ I cancelled and will never ever tell anyone to use them. Help put them out of business by letting others know.

Often Choice Home Warranty does not have a contractor to assign to your claim. You must find your own contractor. Upon his arrival, you will have to contact the warranty company to get pre-authorization. Be prepared for a long wait (long enough that you'll be invited to leave your phone number and wait for a call-back). In the meantime, the contractor can't begin his work...he has to wait for however long it takes. In one case, I was referred to a web-link which was not functional. This is a difficult "wait period" because the contractor does not have "time to wait". He's got jobs behind yours that he has to get off to. Before Choice can provide authorization, the contractor has to be ready to quote them precise costs (labor, parts, etc and provide a diagnosis). Often, it's the contractor's home office that figures all this up, so the contractor isn't prepared to make such a quote or firm diagnosis. Once you get past all the red tape, you're out all the costs up-front and must wait for reimbursement. I've been waiting for more than 60 days and still don't have reimbursement. In the meantime, the cost sits on my credit card. I recommend you forgo this exhaustive process and just set funds aside in your saving's so they'll be there when you need them. I wish I had done that. It would have been cheaper and less aggravating.

I had the same experience a few days back. When I purchased the insurance I was told that everything will be covered but when I needed it - My AC stopped working- they basically made up an excuse not to pay. I plan to try to contact there management and if that doesn't work I am going to go to Better Business Bureau and if that doesn't work I am going to hire a lawyer. I have so many instance of unhappy customers and this company still exist as innocent customers keeps getting screwed. Please email me if anyone had any luck in getting the money. my email is Rahul_naqvi@hotmail.com. please lnclude me if anyone has any ideas as how to get justice against these folks

Choice Home warranty refused to fix my fridge based on their assumptions. This company does not honor the contract and assumes what is broken just by sitting in their office, pretending they know what is wrong with my fridge. I called them many times and the waiting time was 25 to 40 minutes long before I was able to talk to any one. The vendor they used is diagnosing something else and company is saying something else. They both played this game about 12 days and finally Choice warranty refused to repair or replaced the fridge. The supervisors are the claim representatives and very rude. When I asked for the company's owner's number, she said, " there is an owner but he is not available and did not provide any number. I am very frustrated about it because I already paid them for he entire year. When I signed up for the coverage, I was told that they replace items if it is beyond repair. However, it is a lie and they are just collecting $ 400 to 500 from customers and not fixing anything

Now I am being offered $450 which I am still not taking. Either they repair and coverage remain, or replace similar to the washer that I have, not a down grade.

$350 must be their standard price for everything because that is how much they are offering me for my top of the line LG Front Load washer that needed a new circuit board but they won't repair it for $300 because it may break again and it will not be covered anyomore. Such a scam?

I have had two claims with HSW. The first claim was for my ovens, which cost $2500. They said they could not repair them, and would not replace them because they have a clause that says one of their "replacement" options is to buy out the item at their cost, not retail, but national average wholesale. Also, they would not give me the wholesale cost of the stoves, but of the part that broke. So they sent me $398. Second, I had a freezer that failed. The first tech that came out side the freon was leaking. HSW rep said that was not covered so they would not do anything. I read the warranty and it said that was covered. So they sent a second tech out. He said the thermostat was bad and replaced that. Not the thermostat. Came out again, said it was the compressor. HSW said they would replace the item. I have a 21 square foot, top of the line, Frigidaire, deep freeze upright freezer. They offered me a 14 cubic foot frigidaire, low end model, for replacement. I told them this was not acceptable as they told me when selling me the policy that they would replace at o above the quality of the one you have. So, I gave them a part number of the acceptable model. They said hey could not get that model, and would send me a check for $350, because that is what they would have to pay to buy that item. I told them if they know it was $350 wholesale cost, then they should be able to get the item for me. Also, everyone in the world has access to Frigidaire!

So, when the guy on the phone sold me the policy, he said "no matter what, if anything covered by the policy fails and we cannot fix it, we will replace it will a like or better product. We will NEVER downgrade you." he never said anything about cashouts, etc. Verbal contracts are binding in Oregon so I am seeking a class action lawyer now. If anything I will cost them WAY MORE in legal fees than it would have been to spend the $900 to replace my freezer.

Just friendly advice...DO NOT BUY HOME SHIELD WARRANTIES!

I had an issue with my water heater. The light went out and it was leaking. A neighbor lit it back so that showers could be taken. When the techician came, he said that it was in good shape the only thing it was a little rusty and he would submit that. He did not put the light out and to see where it was leaking. The light went out again and also started leaking again. I called CHW the day after Thanksgiving to see if a technician could come out after the new one that was assigned did not answer. I was told by a supervisor that a claim had been submitted. I told her the technician said the heater was in good shape just some rust and he would submit that. That, however, was not the problem. I was also told that the new technician had been assigned to me in error. I told her that I didn't think that was fair. I said I wanted to cancel, but since that office was closed, I would have to wait until Monday. I'm very disappointed with CHW>

As a Plumbing Vendor I worked for Choice Home Warranty, This company is a fraudulent company at the least . I worked for them approx. 4 months and never received one payment. When i spoke to accounts payable they stated a check was mailed out and each time i called the dates changed . So i decided to stop taking calls from home owners until the issue was resolved . So Choice Home Warranty removed me from there system and stated i wouldn't receive a check for the work I've done 365 days from date. If your a vendor and work for free then this is the perfect company for you, THEY DON'T PAY! there bills and wouldn't recommend them to anyone. There are some really good Home Warranty companies out of Utah to do work for that service Texas that pay net 30 and pay on time and actually cover things for the consumer .

AS A EX-VENDOR THAT WORKED WITH CHOICE WARRANTY, THIS COMPANY DOES NOT PAY THE VENDOR FOR THE TIME AND PARTS THAT USED FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. AS A HOMEOWNER OR VENDOR WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE EVER!

Never use this company. I have filed with the BBB because of the way my claim was handled. My garage door opener needed to be replaced per their service tech. The cost was $389 and they only wanted to mail me a check for $220. The service rep was rude when I ask for an explanation. He basically said I had to live with their decision so I stated I may cancel my service. He said "I can handle that for you" so I hung up. Needless to say my account was debited for the usual monthly fee. I told my husband I though we had be had but at least we get the $220. A week later, after not receiving the check, I called CHW to speak with accounts payable. She said my check was canceled because I said I might cancel. I stated you took your fee from my account so it is not canceled. She said "you said you might and we are not in the business of paying customers who cancel. She was extremely rude stating that I would need to sign a reimbusement form to recieve my money and it would take an additional 30 days. No where in the contract did I read the customer must pay out of pocket and be reimbursed. I emailed the CEO James Moss but don't expect a response from him. I contacted the BBB and suggest everyone else do so. They are rude, unprofessional and also closes their offices down in the middle of the week due to "system updates". I am embarassed to be scammed so badly. Also forget speaking with management you want get anyone. I tried four different times and was hung up on or got voicemail.
