Choice Home Warranty chw sucks

Choice Home Warranty Sucks. They are one big scam operation. They never have any intention of paying your claim. Do not be fooled. Do not let them talk you into paying out of pocket so that they can reimburse you, You will not ever get your money. They lie about what they are told by the repair co. and they make it so that the cause of your problem is not a covered item on the contract. they do not return calls. they do not care about the customer. they know that if they put us off long enough we will eventually have the problem fixed ourselves. lets face it how many of us can go without heat or cooling or appliances for weeks at a time. no one can s o we call and call and call in hopes that we can make them see that we have valid points and valid claims but to no avail. They only take your money. they promise you the moon. they deliver nothing. DO NOT BE FOOLED. they have an F rating with the BBB. and the sad thing is there is nothing that we can do. I am in Mississippi. it 's not like i am going to fly there and confront them and they know this. they have everyone of us over a barrel and no one will take up our cause and help us to get the service that we paid for. my advise is to kiss your money good bye and switch companies and pray that one day they get what is coming to them.

after making many calls i finally got in touch with a manager named jim reid. he said he would review my claim and get back with me by the end of the day. he did call the next day and say that he had talked with the repair man that i was instructed to hire on my own and who i paid out of pocket in full for his service visit to my home. he said that he talked with my repair man, that when a compressor goes out it is usually always because of a leak and the freon has escaped and that they do not cover leaks of any kind. when i told my repair man that he laughed and said i may as well not even have the coverage at all then. none the less my repair man never said the cause of the compressor shorting out was a leak, he told me that in all actuality it probably was not a freon leak. so jim reid told me that the claim was still denied but in an effort to keep my business and resolve this matter he would offer me 300.00. so i agreed to it, i figured that 300.00 was better than nothing, which is what they were originally offering me but i will go on record again and say that MY CONTRACT DOES NOT LIST LEAKS OF ANY KIND as an exclusion under refrigertors. i still feel that my claim was not denied according to the terms of my contract. but i did take the offer of 300.00. i will let you know if i actually receive the check. i was told to expect it to take 30 days. that was on july 13th i think. we have since purchased a new frig. and i will post a copy of my contract soon.

Choice Home Warranty does not pay their contractors

When we first started our appliance repair business, we took calls from Choice. They are nothing but a scam. They owe us thousends of dollars for work we have done for them, and are now claiming it wasn't approved, they didn't receive the claim, or that the check is in the mail. Consumers beware, if they have jerked all the reputable repair people around in your area, the bottom of the barrel is being sent to your home. Or they will just deny your claim as they do not have anybody to send, since they refuse to pay. And if you are a contractor? STAY AWAY. Unless you like to work for free.

Choice Home Warranty is the worst company to work for. My company has not been paid for services rendered since August 2009. Every time we call we get the same person, Stanley Goodspeed, and he tell us the same thing "You should receive your check the end of the month." Well I have had it with them. They have scammed enough people. I am getting a lawyer to assist in getting what is owed to me.

I even get complaints from customers that I serve about how bad they are. They refuse to pay for almost everything. The company is terrible and I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.

Choice Home Warranty no air

I am a single mom with 4 children who purchased my home in Dec. 2009. I had an home inspection done and after shopping for a home warranty chose Choice (BIG MISTAKE). My air conditioning went out (it is 90 degrees in my home) and I called them, they sent someone out the first time, I paid my 60 dollar service fee the company said that there was nothing wrong with a/c unit just needed freon. Well the unit went back out 2 days later so I called Choice again and requested another company be sent out due to the first company saying that they would come back out and never showed up.
The second company came out I paid another 60 dollar service fee and he says there is a problem, the coil is leaking. He sends the information to Choice home warranty and I also call and for 2 days still we have no air, I ask to speak to with a manager because I kept getting the run around about sending someone out to fix the problem. This supervisor gets on the phone and tells me that I need to show proof that I had the unit serviced before the air stop working . I explain to him that I just bought the house and this is my first summer in it and he tells me that I still have to show proof. I ask what kind of proof and he says receipts showing that it has been serviced within a year. We go back and forth for about 10 minutes about this proof I need. I told him I had an home inspection done before I bought the house he says that's not proof, so I called the man who I bought the house from and he says he had it serviced in 2009 when he first purchased the house. He e-mailed his receipt and I e-mailed it to them. Still no response and no air. This company is a ripe off the supervisor says if the problem was pre-existing then they are not liable for fixing it. No where in their contract does it say, when I must have my unit serviced, or if I should have it serviced before I get a contract with them to make sure everything works correctly. Now me and my children are sitting in a hot house with no air and the company does not care. NEVER USE CHOICE HOME WARRANTY (BAD BUSINESS)

Don't feel bad. I am going through the SAME exact issue right now. Mine is the compressor. They are asking for a maintenance contract which they "think" they are getting this over on the consumer. I HIGHLY suggest you contact your states Department of Insurance and file a claim against them. This is what I told my state:

Since I paid the money and they sent a contractor, they are assuming the responsibility of my equipment AS IS! Makes no difference if you would have had a maintenance contract or not. The problem still exists and would have existed. They are trying to hide behind their vague User Agreement. Also, you did NOT sign a contract, so that is null and void as well. Seriously, contact your states Department of Insurance and file the claim. Takes 10 minutes of your time. I would call them first. I wish you luck.

Choice Home Warranty unreasonable claim denial

I had problems with no heat on 1/31/10 . Called CHW. They finally got somebody out on 2/8/10 to check the heat pump system. The problem was a leak in the evaporator coil. The freon had leaked out. the company denied the claim on the basis that since I have been maintaining the unit myself every year, that it must be due to my negligence. I sent them a statement from the trained and licensed professionals they sent out to check the unit saying the unit was properly maintained and serviced. It also stated the problem was due to normal wear and tear and not a lack of maintance. Even with that information in hand, I was told in no uncertain words, that the claims rep. sitting behind his desk knows more about the situation than the professionals that physically looked at the unit. Claim denied. I would suggest to anyone looking for home warranty insurance, to look deeply into the track record of customer satisfaction. Do not rely on price alone.

Choice Home Warranty no honoring contract

We have warranty with choice, under warranty tells it will fix plumbing, we called and told them our kitchen tile feels warm and we had a plumber checked and said we hve a leak under the tile (slab) they told us have leak detector check and send us report we do not pay for detection. We paid $200.00 for detection and faxed them the copy so they can send plumber to fix it. They refuse to do that and when we tried to talk to Manager or supervisor they refused to answer if they would not cover the leak under slab why they had us to pay for detection? They are not honoring their contract and not willing to pay us $200.00 Minus service contract. do not buy warranty from them they are fraud.

Choice Home Warranty scammed me, then no comment...

To ChoiceHomeWarranty - Jay Moss - I like many others am in the middle of a dispute with your company. I have emailed you at the address you provided to us in an earlier post and have not heard back from you. I have also put in numerous calls to a supervisor with your company, Sam Patel, with no response.
In my case our warranty was canceled the day after we filed a claim. The reason was for non-payment. The payment was being billed to a credit card that expired and was replaced by our credit card company this month. We received an email from your company stating that our premium was past due. (This was the day that our premium is due) We received the email at 10:30am, at 4:45pm that day we called Choice Home Warranty, updated the credit card information and made payment by phone. The woman that took the payment assured us that the payment should post the following day and the policy would be reinstated. When we called the following day we were advised that the warranty had been canceled due to non-payment and we would need to request reinstatement in writing to be considered for further coverage. In addition our current claim was denied. I explained that the email we received stated:
"To make sure you won’t be without home warranty coverage, please ACT NOW! Keep in mind; when your Choice Home Warranty account is past due, you may be responsible for all repair costs that arise. Please contact our customer service department toll free at [protected] to update your payment information."
I was under the impression that responding within six hours of notice on a business day was pretty good response time. The manager on duty, Troy McDermott, advised me that he did not make the rules and that there was no coverage. I spoke with your manager on duty, Troy McDermott, again the following day explaining that I filed the claim before the warranty was canceled and made payment within hours of being notified. He advised that there is no coverage for policies that are not in force regardless of the date of the claim and insisted that they had not processed the payment. I reviewed my statement and it appears that you have not processed the payment. I can think of only one reason that you wouldn't have excepted my payment.
I have a two yr old girl, a 5yr old boy and a wife with heart conditions that could be adversely affected by the lack of air conditioning in our home. Your technician stated that the unit needed to be replaced. This is why someone like me purchases a home warranty. James, please help us clear this up so that I don't have to go the same route as so many others seem to have gone with Choice Home Warranty. Account # [protected]

I too, have tried to contact Jay Moss as he asked us to, however, no response. And, every time I try to speak with a supervisor or manager I'm told that there are none available. We are an appliance repair company and are trying to get our invoices paid through Choice. Very rude accounts payable clerk (seems as if the person answering the phone is the same person, yet gives me a new name every time I speak with her). Instead of paying us, we're getting the run-around (faxes not received, original application not received...blah...blah...blah). Truth is, Jay Moss, your company is a scam!

Choice Home Warranty warrenty fraud

I purchased a warranty with Choice Home Warranty. I filed a claim on a washing machine. A technician came out a couple days later and stated the washer needed a complete overhaul. Choice denied the claim stating that the washer had an “unknown pre existing condition”.
Upon learning this I told them there was no need for them to honor the claim. Clearly we misunderstood each other’s intentions, I thought Choice was going to take the worry out of being a home owner and Choice must have thought I was not going to file a claim. I went on to say that continuing the relationship did not look like it was in either parties best interest. I asked for a refund of my money. The front line rep told she could not do that and a manager would have to contact me within 24 hours. When the supervisor spoke with me he accused me of fraud among other things. He told me did not have the ability to cancel a policy and I would have to wait for a billing supervisor to contact me within 24 hours; two days later I have not received that call. When I called to back to ask for a supervisor I was told that one would be in touch in 24 hours (I see this happening).
I have called my credit card company to dispute the charge and I have contacted an attorney. It just really should not be this hard.
Spend your money elsewhere.

Choice Home Warranty scam

We became service contractors for choice home warrnty in 2009. Since then they have paid only 2-3 bills and most of the bills are not paid, Total amount of $1291.71 has not been paid even after months. Every time they have different story to tell, like checks will be sent on ____ date, checks already sent, checks lost in mail, bill been transfered to HQ. On top of all this there is no contact for any HQ. Nobody return calls, nobody answers E mail. They are the worst one.

I started the contract with Choice Home Warranty (choicehomewarranty.com ) on 10/27/2008 covering HVAC and making onetime payment of $344 for the contract lasting one year. On 12/02/2008 2 units (furnaces) stopped working. I contacted Choice with repair request. The technician was sent on 12/03/2008 to do the diagnosis - control boards needed to be replaced. Choice refused a repair without additional documentation. The following documents were submitted:

- home inspection report done upon purchasing the property

- diagnosis/checkup of the HVAC systems done on 07/27/2007

- repair and checkup of the HVAC systems done on 06/26/2008

After many phone calls and 14 days with no heat, the customer representative from Choice: Ron Stillwater stated that the repair could not be cover because:

- it is odd that two of the systems fail in the same time

- there is no date on the document from 6/26/2008 - even though it is printed

- there is no signatures on the receipt from 06/26/2008 - even though is states on the receipt that it is a electronic invoice and the authenticity can be proven by contacting the company that did the repair/checkup service on 6/26/2008. Ron Stillwater stated that no company will be contacted.

- there are many inconsistencies in provided documentation - with no additional comments provided.

I need to add that dealing with this guy (company) was the worst customer service experience. Imagine rep. screaming, inventing stories that do not add - the management needs to review your files - and than 5 sec. later - it just popped up on my screen that your claim was denied. I asked for the manager many times but never no one was available. He was accusing me of taking long time sending the documentation where in fact they (or he) were not replying to my faxes, emails and phone calls. The faxes were being lost and I had to resend the documentation. I felt like it was really immature, irresponsible, unprofessional, sneaky thief one person shop.

I filed a claim with Choice Home Warranty on 6-8-09 for my oven. They sent a technician out that could not repair the oven and said part were no longer available. Choice contacted me about 2 weeks later with a very low offer to settle the claim rather than replacing the oven as the warranty states. They tried to tell me it could be fixed even though their technician said it can't. They told me I could wait 2-3 months for them to aquire the parts to fix it or accept their low offer. However, they could not give me the name of a company from which they intended to acquire the parts. I told them to send me the money, but to date on 8-10-09, I still have nothing from them. Another call to their customer service today resulted in them giving me a check number that they say was mailed 7-27-09, but they would check on it and see if it might have to be re-issued. They never sent one out, I know it and they know it. NEVER DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE. THEY NEGATE THEIR OWN WARRANTY PROMISES AT SOME PLACE IN THEIR AGREEMENT. THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN.

Brad Collins promised us that all of our appliances would be covered after 30 days. We purchased 2 home warrantys for two rental proerties. We explained that the properties were rental properties and because we don't live there we a re never sure of the condition of the appliances. Well just after the 30 day waiting period a tennant on a covered property moves out and we discover that the refrigerator is not working. We call CHW. They send a tech who opens the frige door glances in the ice box, and without even removing a screw driver from his tool bag summarily declares that the frige needs a heater element, bi-metal, and motherboard. CHW refuses coverage stating that the broken parts were a pre-existing condition; never mind the 30 day waiting period designed to prevent pre-existing conditions from being claimed. We called them and their representative desperately tried to engage me in an argument. I told him that if he did not make good I would charge back on the credit card and that I would not argue. He became angry and hung up on me. We called the credit card company and started a dispute. Meanwhile we got a new home warranty (AHS) and they sent Sears out to fix my fridge. Turns out that only a heating element needed replacement and that this was not a pre-existing condition. Long story short...we won the dispute with the credit card company and the department of consumer affairs (the licensing agency) is using the information we provided them as further evidence in an action to rescind their license to conduct business.

I have been a customer of Choice Home Warranty for years and my first claim was denied. I realized my washer (4 years old) was leaking. I called to file a claim the next day to Choice. They sent a repair man that I paid $45 as required and he told me that the drum seal was cracked and the whole inside of the washer was rusted and the washer needed to be replaced. Apparently the washer had been leaking for a while but the water never came to the front, it all drained to the back of the washer which was out of sight. The washer is a front loader with a base so it stands about 5feet high. They told me my claim was denied because it was my fault that it was leaking and they would not cover it. My only option is to send letter to their claims department and wait another 30 days for them to review. Are you kidding me... I NEED A WASHER NOW! They should be shut down before anyone else gets SCREWED!

I have choice home warranty. My microwave oven stopped working. I called them and they sent a technician from Masterminds Of Appliances to come take a look. James Pierre (JP) from Masterminds Of Appliances came and took a look at our microwave and cooking range and made the following comments

Door Assembly needs to be replaced. Also top ---(this word is not quite legible) panel is broken need to be replaced as well.

Masterminds of Appliances invoiced me for $60. I was very reluctant to make a payment without any service, However JP told me that it was their policy & they needed to order a part in order for that to be fixed and they cannot order the part if i did not pay the $60. JP also assured me that they do not do business like that and that i can trust him & that he was going to order the part & fix it as soon as the part arrived (in about 10-15 days) I reluctantly made the $60 payment only to receive a call back from Choice home appliances telling me that it is not covered under the insurance.

I feel cheated of my $60 and also the insurance premium that i have been paying every year.

JP does not answer my phone calls anymore.

This Company has got to be even worst than C&P Plumbing, crooks. On 5 june 2011 we awoke to water flooding the luandry room in our basement we called Choice Home Warranty Co and expressed to them the issue they in turned gave us three plumbers in our area to use. C&P plumbing being one, "another story", after claling the other two and gettign one we called Choice home warranty back to give them our findings on the plumber who would come out to do the work. Before we called the plumber back to tell them to come fix the pipe and was told this would have to wait until monday two days later with no running water and a infant and two small boys in the home. We asked them their reimbursment policy and they tell use we will send you aform to fillout and send back with the amount and work done and we will give you back your money. We do just that. Come a week later we asked them where we are in the reimbursement process and are told we can't reimburse you for un-authorized work even if it is covered under our policy because there was no one there to give us a authorization number. so we are out the 346.00 for 30 minutes of labor. There was a pin hole then you get a supervisior on the phone who tells you that this issue is covered but can't be reimbursed because there was no authorization number.

Choice Home Warranty fradulent

I tried to cancel the contract, as the contract indicated that you can cancel at any time. When I called, I received the runaround several times and some fluke manager, Jim Reid, indicated that I can cancel but had to sign a waiver before cancelling so that I would not go to the Better Business bureau. This company initially said they could cover my heating system and they couldn't. They get your money tied into their company and they do not honor what they put in writing. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM! The manager is extrememly nasty and tries to make you go against your civil rights as a customer!

Choice Home Warranty claim refusal

The plumber assigned had not called after 2 days of the claim being reported. I called but did not get a return call. I thought, hey, they get busy, let me see if Choice Home Wrrty has another plumber they can assign quickly. I took the opport. to refer them to a plumbing co. who had serviced my claim while under a prior Wrrty co. It turned out the plumber was not yet with CHW but had his sign-on papers ready to go and was just waiting for callback from CHW anyway.

The plumber diagnosed the issue, communicated it to CHW. I've had good results with this plumber in the past with & without a wrrty co. so I felt I could rely on his assessmt.

Apparently he did not like the way CHW reacted to his report, and how he detected the customer was gonna get scammed by CHW. The plumber told me I need to request another plumber since he was pulling himself off from CHW, due to long paperwork wait, and CHW did not seem to have service for the customer in mind. He cautioned me to switch wrrty co, what's gonna happen if your water heater leaks, they gonna make you wait while water damage continues in your home?

I purchased a home warranty with Choice 5/03/2011 for a 1yr contract. I paid $365.. In June 2011 have a small child and the A/C went out..the techs said it had a compressor that needed to be replaced..I sent in the required documentation and they still flat out refused to honor the claim. The customer service (Mike) was very rude and the Supervisor (John) was a joke. This company needs to be stopped and I am pursuing a class action law suite against them.

Choice Home Warranty dishwasher

Re:Claim#[protected]
Cannot reach the office by phone today. It would not surprise me if this company has closed its doors. I was told a ck for $204.95 would be mailed out on Mon 22 Feb 2010...I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE CHECK to purchase a dishwasher. $204.95 will actually buy about half a dishwasher but they don't give a damn about that. I have been without a dishwasher since the 7th Dec 2009 while they sent out shoddy repairmen to my house twice and they didn't fix it. I have rec'd nothing but the run around from this company and my outrage with them goes beyond words. Now the phone calls won't even go thru, not that it would do any good to complain..THEY JUST DON'T CARE!

Choice Home Warranty terrible cust svc

I called for help in the middle of a Winter freeze. My 1st claim. Well much to my surprise I received a little answering service eprson on the other line that explained that I had to wait until the office was opened because she didn't have any contact list for service on my furnace! WHAT?!?! So my family, (pregnant Dtr & child, and myself) were waiting for 4 hours in the cold for the main office to open. Luckily I guess it was a Friday when they will be open. When I finally got a call bk, the lady had me call a certain heating business that they supposably had a contract with. The heating business was at my home within 1 hour. They were great, BUT, said they were never contracted out with Choice Warranty. So when I had a second problem with the furnace, the very next day-guess what happened! I got the answering office again which told me to call back the main fofice on Monday. Again, WHAT!?!? We were suppose to wait from Sat morning until Monday when the office re-opens? I contacted the same heating business and told them to come out & I will pay the bill so we can have our heat back on. When I called Choice Warranty's office on Monday-it took me all day (from my workplace) and three diiferent phone calls to finally get someone to tell me how to cancel my policy. I found that there is a $50.00 administration fee to cancel and I had two policies with them. So my cost would be $100.00. WOW what a SCAM! BEWARE and pass the word about this company. I am cancelling because of their poor business skills and I have to pay $100.00 to do so!

Choice Home Warranty microwave and plumbing

My contract with choice home runs from march 2 2009 -march 2010.
On november 10 I submitted a claim for repair to my microwave. I received a technician to contact regarding repairs. Technician did no trepair microwaves. This wnt on for 5 more technicians. Choice finally told me to find my own repair person and undergo their reinbursement procedure. But first, I had to get their approval for any repair over one hundred dollars. Try and fine an appliance repair person to come to your house for under one hundred dollars SECOND-pipe leak -december 23 put in claim. given the name kj waterworks- owner called and told me he refuses to work for them because they do not pay their contractors. Finall, plumber comes. I pay service call fee. Choice refuses to pay for repairs-say they do not cover galvanized pipes. look through my contract-it is not mentioned. call choice where i'm told to look at the on line contra ct-COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CONTRACT FROM MINE- told too bad we can cnhange the contract any time we want. customer service then threatens me with their legal department. WHAT A SCAM- DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Purchased a Choice Home warranty claim about 5-1-11 because my central air unit was not cooling. they sent a technician out & he submitted a repair order to Choice. Received a call from them & was told that I needed to provide documentation that my unit had been properly serviced. I sent them the documentation & have not heard back from them. The repair technician stated that he has also been calling & they keep putting him on hold. I guess I am just out of the cost of the home warranty, $365.00 and I will have to make the repairs on my own. But, I am contacting the attorney general & filing a complaint. If you live in the State of Missouri & have had a problem with this company, PLEASE CONTACT THE MISSOURI ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE to file a complaint. WE NEED TO GET A CLASS ACTION SUITE GOING!

Choice Home Warranty not advised of $50 cancellation fee

Choice Home Warranty is purchased on-line. They tell you that you have to take the offer on the day you contact them or the price will increase. They charged my credit card 2 months before warranty effective date. I canceled contract and was told I would be charged $50 cancellation fee. You have to read the entire contract (6 pages) on-line to find this clause. Now I have to wait 30 days to get my refund minus the $50. This is a rip-off company with hard sell and intimidation tactics. STAY WAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

I signed up 5 months ago for 3 years for $1050.00. I have had nothing but problems with them.
When my A/C stopped working I called them and they sent out someone to fix it. The problem was
the guy was not licensed, screwed things up and as a result, I had to replace my A/C for a cost of $6, 000.
I called to cancel and was told to wait a month and they would send me a check for $300 for the problems I had.
I got the check a few days ago and called today to cancel. No surprise that my refund would be $234.15 if I cancel.
My next call was to the Attorney General's office in New Jersey and I was given instructions to file a complaint online.
My next call was to my credit card company that I charged the $1050 on and they are issuing a chargeback to the company.
My advice to everyone that has lost money with CHW is that they issue a chargeback with their credit card company and
than file a complaint at : NJCONSUMERAFFAIRS.GOV. They are in the process of investigating CHW and any complaints
they receive will only help.

Choice Home Warranty choice home warranty contact contradiction - water heater

Choice home warranty's contract states under iv coverage (Coverage dependant on plan): item #6, "water heater (Gas and/or electric)
Included:"all components and parts, including circulating pumps, except: excluded: "access - insulation blankets - pressure reducing valve-sediment build-up - main, holding or storage tanks..."

How does it cover "all components and parts" but not the container and tanks? How do you hold the water if not in the container or the tanks? And what is defined as "all components and parts?" the technicians, steven and karl bauer of kj water works, inc. That choice home warranty sent to us said that we need to replace the entire water heater, which includes the tank that holds the water. Duh! The technicians, steven and karl bauer, called choice home warranty for clearance and they told him that their review board denied the claim due to the tank exclusion. That is a contradiction of the contract and will be sent to the state dept. Of insurance of new jersey and new york as well as the attorney general of both states to review the contract and its contraditions. We have learned of another complaint against this company and pending the findings of both the states attorney generals and the state departments of insurance for both states a class action may be filed against this company.

I have 1 experience recently re water heater - was leaking. Choice Home Wrrty says they don't cover it because the leak was coming from the storage tank, which is one of the main parts of a water heater. I asked, Well, where does the water have to come from a water heater, in order for it to be covered? It's really frustrating dealing with this company. They redefine the parts/components of a system.

Once my water heater needed to be drained. Between the plumber (who wanted out or to charge for a New replacement wtr htr) & the wrrty co (who wanted out), they said the water heater could not be drained, therefore, they can't cover it, and because they can't cover the existing wtr htr, they also cannot cover a replacemt unit.

Choice Home Warranty choice home warranty - scam

Choice Home Warranty is a SCAM. People be careful when you sign with them. My Sincere advise for all of you out there is not to do business with them. They are totally illegal.

Choice Home Warranty screwed me big time. The guy who sold me this policy was so nice promising everything until he gets my business. His name is Brad Collins, he said that they will fix any problem that we report with no questions asked. Here is what happened to me.

On Oct 19th 2009 I signed up with these guys. As of last week my heating furnace started making some noise when I turn it onn, which I reported to Choice Home Warranty. I never had any problems before with any of my appliances. Then a technician came to my home & saw the heating furnace (infact he told me that I should pay him first before even he touches my furnace, that is what has been told to him by Choice home warranty, which is fine.) and immediatly he said that the inducer motor has gone bad. This is due to normal wear & tear in the bearings of the motor, then he left. After 2 days I got a call from CHoice Home Warranty saying that they will not process my claim unless I provide them the maintainence records (they never mentioned about this when you sign up for the warranty - This is FIRST SCAM). Then I faxed all my maintainence records for the furnace and couple days later they contacted me saying that they will not pay for the claim. That means they will not fix my furnace, the reason stated is that they will not fix any NOISE coming from the furnace. That means basically they will not pay any for any of your complaints/claims. I spend couple hours on phone with their customer service dept, Authorization dept etc.. arguing that when some moving/rotating part in a motor goes bad it does make noise. If it had not made any noise I guess I wouldn't have come to know the problem itself. What kind of a company who denies the claim on this ground. I am fighting to get back my money (full refund) from them, since they are running a scam business here.

Hence, I filed a company with BBB (better Business Bureau) on how they are cheating people. Hence guys, please be careful when you sign up for something like this.

Choice Home Warranty scam/ripoff

We filed a claim [protected] because our heater went out. Long story short they denied our claim because they said the unit was not 'properly maintained' because we did not have any documentation to send them showing that the system had be serviced every season since we owned the house. The system is 25 years old! Obviously it has been maintained or else it would not have lasted this long. I am an mba and my husband is a phd, we keep excellent records/receipts for everything in our home, but never once have we heard of 'seasonal maintenance' for a heating system. We are tired of insurance/warranty companies taking our money and not performing the service when we need it. We have paid $500 in premiums/service fees during the 4 months we have had this warranty, and they told us that since we do not have a 'long enough history' with them they need all of our maintenance records for the heating system (Which is just their way of finding a reason to deny the c
Laim). We sent them 2 years worth of service receipts to show the repairs that had been made to the system and they said that was not enough, and that we only sent them documentation for when the system broke, not documentation for how we maintained the system. What is the point of buying a warranty if they are not going to fix items when they break? To add insult to injury the weather is 20 degrees which constitutes emergency service, but after 4 days we still have no heat! We have only had this warranty 4 months and choice home warranty has already breached the contract by not performing emergency service. We filed a complaint with the bbb requesting our heat be fixed or our $500 premium/service fees refunded and this warranty cancelled so we can find a reputable company that will actually perform the service we are paying for!

I was unsatisfied with their service and will not recommend their company to anyone else. The one time that I attempted file a claim to address a shower that was leaking because it had lost its seal a contractor that was a total crook came out to my home and attempted to charge me $1500 to fix it. I was told that the foundation had settled and the pipe draining the shower was 1.5 inches below its original depth. They contended that I needed to tear out the bathroom floor and replace the pipe (in a bathroom that I had just had totally remodeled, with the exception of the shower, about one month before). I was to pay for the tunneling fee (about $1, 400) and Choice Home Warranty would pay for the parts (less than $100). By the way, I would also be responsible for having the bathroom floor and shower replaced as well. To make matters worse, the plumber dropped his paperwork on the way out and I was nice enough to help him pick up. To my chagrin, I saw three other price quotes for exactly $1500 as well. I’ll bet that’s not a coincidence. I paid more for the service call fee than I did to have the seal fixed and have someone use a PVC pipe and glue to extend the pipe to its original height. It’s been over a year and the shower hasn’t leaked a bit since. He was a terrible contractor and this is a terrible warranty company. There are so many exclusions in the "total plan", there are only a handful of things that are really covered - and trust me, I mean a handful. I believe some high school drop-out is running this business out of the basement of his parent’s home. This is just one of those things where you don’t find out how depraved and corrupt people can be until you actually need them to help you.

TOTALLY AGREE I WROTE THEM THIS dispute a claim with choice home warranty on Dec 18th I called choice home warranty to report an issue I have found in my refrigerator. They gave me a qualified technician to report to and that technician which was Nixxon’s heating and cooling (Tommy) Came to my home on Dec 20th. In lieu we put our trust in Choice Home warranty because all you advertise is the finest service… So we expected a qualified and knowledgeable technician, but he did not have any experience in sub zero refrigerators, so he opened the top and said we needed a cleaning done. At the time policy holder Joseph Loccisano was not home at the time, my wife was home with our 15 month old child and Tommy the technician assured my wife saying it was a cleaning to resolve the problem that he would do it now for 150.00 so my wife in trust of choice home warranty sending a qualified and knowledgeable technician agreed to have it done. Not only did he not know about the refrigerator he was also very sloppy. After he continued to blow out the right hand box of the fan did not let my wife know that dust would be flying over the whole kitchen to cover food of any sort (If you ask any qualified technician in sub zero refrigerators you put a wet towel on the other side of the box so it absorbs the dust). So not only did we throw out food that was left out but spent the rest of the day cleaning black sot and dust from around the kitchen, So in 3 faults I find Choice home warranty in the following situation 1.)Representative of choice home warranty did actual work without policy holder notified. 2.) Was very sloppy and spoiled food 3) Charged for a service which did not fix my refrigerator at all. When Tommy came out for a second time because when I had called choice home warranty I was told by Representative Kimberly that we tell our customers to contact the technician directly because then we would have to open up a new claim ticket. So be it at that I contacted Tommy on the number provided and left a detailed message. After waiting 3 days and no phone call back I decided to call the number on his invoice which has a number with the name Gregory on it, when I called I spoke with Gregory from central jersey appliance. H e said he has no idea on the situation and know Tommy as a former employee and said he will notify Tommy on not using his invoices and gave me Tommy’s direct cell number. So not only was the number that choice home warranty supplied me with not his direct number as [protected] but as [protected]. Tommy called me back and said he would come back out to find out the problem. On January 11th he arrived without proper tools to diagnose the problem on my refrigerator, so not only is this the second visit without any tools or knowledge it is also the second time my refrigerator is not fixed. In frustration I called choice home warranty and spoke with a polite gentleman in the name of Rich White who said that we can call our own guy and he would send us a pre authorization form to claim our service call fee. So in doing this I called a knowledgeable and qualified technician of 35 years experience with sub zero refrigerators, came and diagnosed the problem as being the evaporator coil which over the years starts deteriorating. While I was with the technician I called the authorization department in which spoke to my technician and tells me the evaporator coil is covered under the policy but because it is leaking they will not cover it. To which makes no sense to me because asking any qualified technician the evaporator coil’s sole purpose is the hold the Freon in and in any way shape or form that an evaporator coil goes bad is by leaking in any way. So by saying the evaporator coil is covered but saying any leaks of any kind is not covered is a double standard so to this estimate you are telling me the evaporator coil is not being covered. So in section IV number 3 of the agreement in the kitchen refrigerator section where it says all components and parts are included in this contract is null and void. I understand the Freon and leakage of any kind is not covered but I am asking to replace my evaporator coil and I will cover the costs of any Freon needed that was lost. So I asked for a manager and well first he said Jonathon but then said John Busby and also said he was manager and then said Vice president so whichever it is he got on the phone after holding for 10 minutes saying he looked over the claim and said it is not covered did not want to hear anything just repeating we cannot cover it. Also stating to my wife after letting him know that they sent us a unqualified technician and unknowledgeable person to do a cleaning and charged 150 dollars stating “it’s not my fault you paid and hired this guy.” Ok to reiterate I hired and paid Choice Home warranty to cover my appliances, I would never hire a person so unprofessional and unknowledgeable to walk into my home to fix my appliances. As a homeowner I take pride in my ownership and look for the best and most qualified people, I do not know how Choice Home warranty accepts vendors to join them but I can assure you I would have not hired this person. For that matter I do not know how you have a person like Jonathon or John Busby as manager / vice president handling these dilemmas when he did not once say he would look into it and escalate it or see what he can do nothing but reiterated “you won’t see a dime from us” and “go ahead take me to court.” I deal on a daily basis with customer service and if I had ever one outburst in the 12 years I have been at my job I would no longer be working where I am at..Any Highly Qualified Company would not speak to their customers the way he has

I agree with you. They pulled the same thing with me. I plan on finding a way to sue. Possibly small claims court.

Hence, I filed a company with BBB (better Business Bureau) on how they are cheating people. Hence guys, please be careful when you sign up for something like this.

Yes, I agree this company is a SCAM. They do not pay for most of the claims. I had a very very bad experience with this company.

Choice Home Warranty aprroval/authorization dept

Choice Home Warranty Approval Dept Managers should be FIRED!
Never had a problem with the claims dept, great service.
The problem is when the manager of approval/authorization, does not have customer service skills and does not take charge of his department, nor does he know how to delegate orders. On 12/8/09, I've been waiting 3 days for an appoval, Choice claim to be waiting for the Tech to call them, so customer did a three-way call and Choice still refused to resolve the issue. Customer asked if we could all disconnect and askd the Manager to call Vendor and he stated No. I will not be renewing any furture business with choice..WARNING!SCAM
