Chevrolet reliability

Before I start let me make it clear that this mail of mine doesn’t depict any issues as such with any dealer but overall the ownership experience with GM/Chevrolet.

I am writing this mail as a very dissatisfied owner of your new cruze 2012 LTZ AT bought from S.C Auto Thane July of 2012. Mine was the first car that S.C Auto delivered of the new 2.0 litre engine. Needless to mention I was excited on owning it and this was my 8th car and the very first GM make. I owned Skoda, Hyundai, Suzuki and Ford before this.

It took a lot of consideration before choosing GM and I thought I made the right choice. Unfortunately, the very first impression took a set back as the center console cover lid on the LHS was loosely placed and it was dropping out. I was assured by SC that they would order a new one and replace on the 1k assurance check up service which by the way took 3 - 4 more visits after 1k service to even do a make shift arrangement. The console till date doesn’t fix in right but that is not the premise of this mail.

The 1st issue surfaced immediately after the 1k service where the LHS started making noise near the caliper. The service advisor at SC did detect the issue to be with the caliper and they tightened and lubricated it but not much to my surprise the issue resurfaced again. I visited again for the same problem 3 – 4 times and on my 4th visit I made it clear that I am not leaving without getting in writing that the problem is fixed for good. To which Chetan their service manager got the LHS suspension replaced (not sure why when the issue was with the caliper). However within 2 wks the problem resurfaces again and this time I decided to take it to Ashtvinayak and kissed SC goodbye for good.

Chetan, the service advisor at Ashtvinayak was extremely knowledgeable and after going thru the history he immediately advised caliper change. This was around Dec last year. The car worked perfectly fine however in a month’s time the caliper started making noise again. I took the car again and this time they changed the clip but the issue again surfaced and by now I have lost the number of visits but the staff (Poonam in particular) and people in-charge at Ashtvinayak were extremely helpful. The next visit they got both the shocks changed but the issue still persisted and ultimately in Mar early this year Victor, the service manager got a special set of calipers fitted which looks to have resolved the caliper noise for good as I haven’t visited the workshop for this issue since then.

Now comes the reliability aspect of this vehicle. Earlier this year I took the car for a short weekend trip to Alibaug and the coolant pipe nozzle leaked as the clip came out making me and my family stranded for hours before we could get any help. Well things happen but it just didn’t stop with that. Around a month back the gear shifter had issue that caused error code 92 (shift to park) reappear on display. Well it was covered in warranty and replaced 2 – 3 wks back but today my car is back in workshop with error code 84. This time the turbo pipe seems to have ruptured. I am not sure what next but these are serious faults and I am skeptical on taking this car for a long highway journey given its history and uncertainties with so called D segment luxury sedan.

To say I am dissatisfied would be an utter understatement regardless I would never want to own a GM vehicle again in my life time!

Chevrolet customer service for brakes

Champion Chevrolet: Five Star Sales, One Star Service
Customers beware! While the sales team at Champion is excellent, their service department leaves much to be desired. Only months after purchasing a brand new vehicle in 2009, we started experiencing problems with the brakes and rotors. Every few months since purchasing, we have had the same problem, but the service department has never been able to figure out the root cause. After being assured repeatedly that this problem would be fixed at no cost to us, they have finally given up trying to figure out the problem, and will continue to replace the rotors every few months, but with us footing the bill. Their suggestion to us: stop riding the brakes, and gear down for hills. We must be causing the brakes to overheat, and be warping the rotors. Since when do service departments blame their customers for their faulty vehicles? Then they suggested purchasing a Dodge next time, which is just what we will do. Our advice to you, skip your next trip to Champion Chevrolet and head straight for Kootenay Chrysler!

Chevrolet tow capacity

Last year in August 24 I bought my 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4.8l-V8 - Crew Cab and I had be informed by the dealer that Truck was able to tow 6700 LBS as per specification on the brochure and as per the sales man information. One week later the dealer placed a call for me pick up the vehicle. I put on the trade my Chevrolet Traverse 2010 that was able to tow 5000 Lbs. My decision to up grade my tow capacity was motivated due my new 27 Foot Travel Trailer weighing 6000LBS.
The dealer choose the model and size of the truck and added Heavy Duty Trailing package and Z82 suspension in order to prepare the truck accordingly. The truck that I have paid should come with AXLE REAR 3.73 RATIO but the dealer delivered another Ratio, that is AXLE REAR RATIO 3.23 with maximum 4700 Lbs.
I contacted GM Customer Service and GM Customer Satisfaction departments and they contacted the dealer on my behalf but the dealer told them that I never told them my tow capacity needs and refuse to correct the mistake. I am very disappointed.

Chevrolet poor service

Dear Sir,
My name is Satbir Singh and I have Chevrolet Spark Model 2008 white in color having registration number HR-02-T-4467. There was 3 problems in my car. Firstly, my car’s front mirror was cracked, secondly the front bumper was damaged and thirdly the silencer was also damaged. For the same, I went to Oberoi Automobiles, Aggarsain Chowk Near Gupta Palace, Jagadhri Yamunanagar 135003 HARYANA Phone: +[protected] Email: oberoi.[protected]@gmidealer.com but when I reached there, I wait for 10 minutes to met the employee of the Oberoi Automobile and when the employee comes I start explaining the problem of my car in a very polite manner but in return that employee was speaking with me in an anger way, his name is Mr. Parvesh. When I told to him that I want to change the front mirror of my car then instead of giving me the proper guidance of the insurance he rudely give the response and when I asked the second problem of my car to Mr. Parvesh i.e the bumper problem he told to me that go to spare part department, I didn’t have knowledge about bumper then I said Ok. Then I go to the spare part department and there I met Mr. Rahul. I told to Mr. Rahul that I want to change my bumper. I want that bumper which is coming in new spark model then he told me that new bumper is available and it will cost you 1500 and further that bumper needs white paint and that paint will cost you 3500 i.e 1500+3500=5000. And after hearing the cost of bumper I told to Mr. Rahul that Is new bumper can fit in my old model car? Then he said I don’t know and then I went to Mr. Parvesh and told that Is new bumper can fit in my old model car? Then he said I don’t know and later on I met with the mechanic of Oberoi Automobile and asked that Is new bumper can fit in my old model car? Then he said I don’t know. It means that no person was able to give the answer of my question. And when I asked the third problem of my car to Mr. Parvesh i.e the silencer problem then he told to me that go to spare part department, I didn’t have knowledge about the silencer then I said Ok. Then I again go to the spare part department and asked the price and availability of the silencer then Mr. Rahul told me that which silencer’s part you want for the same I go to the mechanic and told to him that please give me proper guidance of silencer so that I can replace it as soon as possible because a lot of noise was coming through the silencer then that mechanic told me that I will not touch your car without job card. I again go to Mr. Parvesh for the purpose of job card but I was unable to find Mr. Parvesh in that agency, I went to reception for the job card but no one was there to attend the customer. This is very embarrassing moment of my life. The service of Chevrolet Car is very poor. If I want to give the feedback then I will give 0 out of 10 to Chevrolet Company. If you give this kind of services to the customer then in future no person will purchase Chevrolet Car.

Chevrolet dash board repair

It is well known that the Dash board on the Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and Avalanche becomes cracked along the air bag. I took my vehicle several years ago to a dealership and was told that it would be 900.00 to fix and it wasn't covered under my warranty . I have since researched and contacted GM and was told that my vehicle is now out of the mileage and year mark to be covered. I am floored that when my vehicle should have been covered it wasn't and now that the issue is well known GM will STILL not cover it. I should not have to pay 900.00 out of pocket for an issue that is structural and not one that I have caused.

My 2005 Surbans transmission failed with only 67000 mile, no towing and no abuse. General Motors district office called me on my complaint (they are located in Buenas Aries). They failed to stand behind their product and would not reimburse the $2400.00. I spent my money to repair my vehicle.

Chevrolet no concern for safety

We purchased a 2012 Equinox in Feb. It has been in the shop three time. The first was a simple air bag sensor, the next one was the motor dumped oil all over my garage floor, and the last and most definetely the worst, a fitting on the gas line broke and sprayed gallons of gas all over the garage floor and driveway. The line runs close to the exhaust. Im really surprised that my house and family didnt burn up. Oh but they gave me an extended warranty to make it all better. If you would like pictures I would be glad to show you.

Chevrolet serviced under warrenty

We had engine troubles last year with our 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, so we took it to the local Chevy dealership/service garage to get it fixed. Our car was still under warranty at the time so we did not end up having to pay anything, but all they did was clean some gunk off a sensor and some other things. The car ran better & the warning lights were no longer flashing on the dash so we thought it was fixed; but NOPE, here we are a year later with the SAME exact warnings flashing on the dash ('Service ESC & 'Engine Power Decreased') & the same EXACT symptoms (engine accelerates & decelerates while it SHOULD idle smoothly, bad vibrations throughout the whole car, car lunges when you drive it, and acceleration is poor) which all seem to only happen when the temperature is really cold outside. So we took our Malibu back to the same Chevy Service center and now they are saying it is something different this time, that we now have to replace the Throttle Body & its going to cost us approximately $425.00. I think it is awfully convenient for THEM that our car has the same issues that it had last year. I am VERY disappointed, and up until now I never had a bad thing to say about Chevrolets. The people at your service center in Bend, Oregon are either incompetent & trying to cover their butts for missing the REAL issue last year OR they are outright liars & thieves & meant to screw us over in the 1st place. Neither explanation is very good for your company and I will make sure my opinion is WIDELY known throughout my family & friends. I'm disappointed & downright disgusted with my experience of owning a Chevy. It won't happen again.

Chevrolet replace my car or return my money!

I own a Corvette and Captiva (as i was impressed by the service and products Chevrolet offer) and recently bought a Camaro approx 6 weeks ago, but this time i have been extremely disappointed and i want my vehicle to be replaced with a new one or return my money so i can go to another dealer and buy a different car.
Problems i have occurred,
After a few days of buying the car i could feel vibration with the vehicle when travelling at 100km/h i complaint to the sales person i bought the car and was informed this should go away after approx 1000km and is normal, but it didn’t go away, also the voice recognition was not recognising the digit '2' and this causes a lot of problem as i cannot call any number using the Bluetooth which contains the number 2, but i decided to complain this when i take it in for the first service at 5, 000km. However Approx 2 weeks ago i was prompted with an error on display showing ''engine power reduced'' following which i drove it to the showroom and advised on all the problems i was experiencing with my brand new car, following which i was informed to leave the car and i will be contacted asap i was not expecting to have this problem with a new car but ignored it as my tolerance level with Chevrolet was quite high. 2 days after i was informed vehicle is available for pickup so i went to pick it up, started the car and the display showed the same sign 'engine power reduced'' the car was taken back inside. At this point i complaint over the phone to the complaint centre i was advice but till date no one has contacted me for this. Couple days later i was asked to pick the car up, so again i went sat in the car and yet again the sign prompt 'engine power reduced''! against the car was taken back and 3 days later i was informed car is ready for pickup problem fixed this time i did not go to the workshop and requested to deliver the car home, upon returning from work i started the car and found no error but noticed it has been driven approx 400km! And an empty tank (it was provided with a full tank); i fail to understand what sort of testing requires that much kilometres to be put on my new car. However the following morning when i started the car the sign prompted again! 'Engine power reduced' i then called the workshop asked them to pick up the car and provide me replacement vehicle! After negotiating i was provided a Malibu, few days later i was informed the problem has been identified and it’s a sensor that is faulty however replacement sensor is not available and they would order it from the USA which will take approx a week! Car was kept with the workshop for this duration upon arrival of the sensor it was fixed and i was informed car is available for pickup and the vibration is caused by tyre pressure not reducing so Chevrolet will replace 2 tyres but these are not in stock and could take up to 10-15 days so was advised to pick up the car now and bring it back again once tyres are available, so i went to pick up the car again! A deposit of 2, 000 dirham’s was taken from me when the Malibu was provided i asked to return that to my card but was informed this will only happen after 3 weeks as we need to deduct any fines and Salik! Fines i understand but Salik, i don’t recall charging Chevrolet Salik for when they were test driving my car all around Dubai! and 3 weeks! Anyways i decided to take the car home, once i reached home i saw there was a scratch on the rear bumper! I now took the car to the showroom where it was purchased from Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai to replace the car or return as last thing i want i now the car to be re-painted! The team leader there said he had no authority on this and directed me to you whom i spoke to yesterday and explained the problem and i am waiting for a feedback.

As per our conversation today the same sign of ‘engine power reduced’’ showed up on the display last night i immediately called the workshop and requested them to pick the car up asap, till now i have not heard anything back, till now i have been informed that there is nothing mechanical worng with the car and its only the sensor that is playing up but the fact that this sign has came up again last night makes me wonder if there is a problem with the engine! Clearly Chevrolet has no clue to what is wrong with the car, last night i started the car with the remote and then the engine power was cut off by itself, this worries me because what if it happened while i was driving, this could have caused an accident there is clearly something wrong and i want the car to be replaced TODAY also note i bought this car to be driven around and not to sit in your workshop, my patience have really reached their limits and i need a replacement car today! Or my money back so i can go somewhere else. I know i won’t be coming back to Chevrolet or advising others to buy a car from Chevrolet after this experience.

Chevrolet fake lottery

I received a massage by my mobile. There was written that my mobile number won 2.35 corer rupees chevrolet car award. I was advised to send my full address and personal details to this email ID- [protected]@live.com. I also sent it then i received a massage and email that their diplomat officer Eric Johnson was arriving INDIA with my prize and documents of a car for me. They also sent me ID proof of Eric Johnson, photo copy of my certificate what I won and a photo copy of a parcel what I should receive. these are attached. Two web sites also attached with this mail. To day I received a call from Eric Johnson. He told me to deposit Rs.24850/- to their account for International Monetary Funds regulatory policy (IMF). I was disagreed and did not deposit. But now I am thinking about my Id proof what I gave them.

i told him to bring chennai... but they told me to pay 16500 rs for proccessing fees of bank..

Chevrolet bad work and charges for non solicited services

I left my 2 cars more than one year ago for service and I returned with one of my cars because the check engine light was on.
I went back next day and the service agent was not there, I spoke with another agent and he was on defensive mode, he was worried to talk and never to listen. I came back next day to talk with the original service agent and left my car.
Finally I got my car after 3 weeks, leaving/picking the car 3 times because the same issue.
The worst happened this month when I left my car to fix an A/C issue, A/C stop working after some time, they charged a lot of money to change compressor and other stuff. I went for vacation and the A/C stopped working again.
Really bad service, I wont leave any of my cars there and even I wont buy a Chevy car anymore.

Chevrolet issue in service

This is with reference to my Vehicle HR 51 AJ 8184 Chevorlet Cruze AT which was gone under repair for Code 84 Error of OIL Leakage and Transmission Fuel issue. After GZoing through Mental Trauma for 5 days the car came to me assuring that it has been repaired and there is no issue. I drove the same for 2 days and Left for OUT OF COUNTRY . Yesterday I ran it for 40 Kms and parked.

Today morning when again we started the vehilce it was giving same Code Error 84 which was coming earlier and there was a OIL Leakage also.

I have wasted 6 days of mine on the REPAIR of the same and still the problem persists.

I am doubting the competency of the people handling such a EXPENSIVE CAR.

Need Immed resolution of the same as it is causing me lot of mental torure and my work and time is suffering sue to this.

Subject: Problem in my Chevrolet Cruze HR 51 AJ-8184... Regent Automobiles, Faridabad

I am a Cruze Automatic LTZ-At customer which we have bought in Sept 2010 thru Regent Automobiles Faridabad vehicle no. HR51AJ-8184 and it is under Warranty

It has been regularly serviced by Regent Automobiles

There was an error occured on 18th May 2012 with CODE 84 and CODE 92 and as per them there was memory error in the Air Filter and memory was refreshed the vehicle was there for 4 hours

On 20th May 2012 again in the morning the CODE error 84 came while starting and Oil was leaking below the Engine. Vehicle was again sent to REGENT AUTO, FARIDABAD fro checking

After spending nearly 5 hours it was found that there was ACID LEAK from Battery which has led to damage of the Transmission Fuel Cover. I was tod that it will be replaced and Spare has to be ordered from General Motors India.

On Checking from Spares it was found that the Spare is not there in Delhi NCR and it has to be ordered. I fail to understand how come Company like General Motors not have a spare in Delhi NCR which is the biggest belt for Vehicle Users.

I took the matter to Regent Automobiles General Manager Mr. R. K. Sharma and sought his help as i was told by the advisor that it is going to take 4-5 days fro a Spare to come

I was assured that with some interim arrangement Vehicle will be ready by Sunday 20th May 2012 but it was not done

Today on my third visit in 3 days i found out that the Interim arrangement didn't work and they are awaiting Spares form GM India

On founding the root cause on why there was a leakage in the Battery it was found that during the last service 15 days back the Battery Water was TOPPED UP and it was put more than the Specified Norm and Level which led to overflow of Acid from the Battery.

Such a Negligence is not accepted and due to this a HAPPY CUSTOMER is suffering and mad him an UNHAPPY CUSTOMER.
Due to this negligence I am without my VEHICLE fro last 3 days and if the Version of Regent Automobiles is to be believed it will be another 2 days before Spares comes.

I fail to understand this mental pressure put on customer because of no fault of customer and somebody' Negligence

I have asked for a Car Loan to me since morning but got no response.

I herby request to kinldy intervence and need help asap

With reference to above it is reported that, it was like a Mirage, the courtesy and focused attention shown at the time of sales, disappeared immediately, car delivery.Mr.Sandhip who dealt initially never attended our calls and his response to customer's request, in sequel to purchase of car, was highly unsatisfactory.

On the onset of winter, Mr Sandhip was contacted for fixture of Fog Light to have better illumination and make driving safe, I had to drive in wee hours of morning for the work. Even my calls to Mr Sunil Jha did not evoke any response.On the reference given one Mr Bhelel Khan at Service Center or workshop was contacted.It was shocking to know from him that no provision is there for fixing fog light.I may mention here that Mr Sandhip lacks knowledge about vehicle.He apart from not attending requests, had misled customer by giving false assurances.

On 25th May my car was not taking start after 1 week of rest.Mr Belal Khan of workshop helped me by giving necessary phone no at that time.Today(06/06/2013) I took the car for last free service to workshop.The car was thoroughly checked to know the proper cause of battery down as it was only 11month 18 days old while became dead.Machine shows that current is leaking through camera connection by 0.12.I had to take the car to showroom for repairing as the camera was fixed at showroom.Mr Biswajit from showroom first denied about this problem over telephone.He assured me that he would call me back within 10 mins after talking with Mr Khan but didnt bother to call me back.In showroom no proper attention was given for the job and Biswajit was so busy with no work that thrice I asked in vain "pls inform me how much time it will take to check the problem?".Biswajit doesnt know how to talk with a lady and he doesnt deserve the post which he is having.I never saw such type of lier. The mechanic took the car outside the showroom without our permition.He was telling that for checking the leakage he drove the car out.Can you pls tell me how a leakage of a batterry is checked while driving? Before going to the showroom I had to narrte my problem to three of the showroom persons including receptionist over mobile.

It is further stated that at the time of sales process, Sandip promised, I will be provided Home Theater as a gift and confirmation to this effect was given to me vide message to the mobile "Dear Customer, Congratulations! You'vewon a Panasonic Home Theater.You'll receive the Gift within 45 days from delivery of your car T&C Apply from 53030 27/5 14:26".With disgust, it is informed that, am yet to receive the System even after one year.The Promise has been kept as a Promise till date. Am utterly disappointed to the core and felt cheated for having purchased SPARK spending hard earned money.

In view of above i make a request to take suitable action against Mr Sandip, Biswajit, Sunil Jha for his irresponsible attitude as a sales person and dereliction of duties that caused mental agony to the customer.Such staff is certain to bring bad name and spoil reputation of the Dealership as well as Company, if not seriously dealt with.

It is hoped an early remedial action will be taken at your end, enabling to makeup my mind to recommend your Dealership to our relative and friends.

Kindly inform me how to solve battery leakage problem?Can it be possible to send serviceman at my door?

Chevrolet brake failure

Good

The vehicle was delivered on 24th Evening and subsequently it was sent back to your office on 25th and and delivered to me back on 25th evening and I took the vehicle to Chennai on 26th morning and on the way the brake completely failed and met with an accident and informed your staff on 26th at 13:36pm and i returned back to Trichy on 27th. Subsequently I had to rush to chennai to settle the issue with the other vehicle and went bvack to chennai. I spoke to your staff on 29th 11.46am so that they can take the vehicle and they said that was not possible that day. Then we had discussions overphone on 30/5 at 11:07AM and 16:37Pm.

After settling the issue at chennai I reurned back on 31st night and I reached your office 1/6/2012 with the vehicle so that we will discuss further. I was told to wait for 2 hours and refused to give me an work order or log book copy and asked to leave the car without even acknowledging the receipt. I spoke to your people at sales and they were kind enough to say that they will look into the matter. However no one called till evening . I called them in the evening and I was told that no responsible person is available to decide. I feel I am totally let down by Chevrolet and Jayaraj Karz. I want an immediate answer and my vehicle to be repaired and handed over to me immediately. May be as I wrote in my previous mails that Chevrolet may be in a position to take the vehicle back and refund the money what ever I have paid.

Hope some one will read and resolve the issue.

After buying this vehcle I recomened to three of my firends and they too bought the vehilce and they are already started scolding me .
