Chefsbasket.in did not receive product

I ordered chef baskets in October hoping to have them by Christmas, for gifts. At the time of order I was given an order confirmation #, and an e-mail confirmation as well. Six weeks later after not hearing anything from the company I finally got a hold of customer service, only to be told that they had no record of my order. When asked about the order confirmation # I had received, I was told that # does not mean the order was received. What does it mean? Is this company different from every other company when placing an order. I purchase online quite frequently and have never been disappointed. When receiving a confirmation order I assume the order will be processed. Now I will have to look elsewhere for Christmas gifts. Instead of help from customer service I received a scripted version of what they had to say, not helpful. I will never order a product from this company again and will tell others as well. So Disappointed !

Completely false advertising. I was supposed to get 2 for $14.99 and they charged me $50+ for 2 maybe 3... I am not sure b/c their website is a farce. S&H was $20.00 WTF!

Product was to be a Christmas gift. Never received in December. Now 2 months later they send a postcard wanting to send product NOW...returned card 10 days ago. Company sent Chef Baskets anyway and the charge was Triple what was advertised! Now I have to return merchandise..Time, money...WASTE! DO NOT PURCHASE!

I tried to order, was very confusing..not able to onfirm order before submitting. This was several weeks ago, NEVER received a confirmation email with tracking number, and no charge posted to credit card yet. Have not gotten product or any confirmation that it has been ordered. I hesitate to order again, because I do not want two orders. But without even an order number, I cannot even check the original order or cancel it.

I started to order the buy one get one free baskets for $14.99 plus s&h. I started getting leary so I never finished the order. I never received a confirmation of my order until 6 days later an email was sent to me stating that my purchase would be shipped shortly. I sent a reply stating "It better not as I never completed the order or received a confirmation". No response from them until I noticed that they charged $101.92 to my account. When I called them they gave me a choice of a $20.00 credit or to return the box. She gave me an RMA number and said to ship the box back unopened with that number on the outside and they will send a full refund. Somehow I get the feeling I will get screwed by this company. I should have checked for complaints on the web before I went into their website.

Bad deal from PA. I order 1 basket (came in two's for 14.99 and got the second (to be free with free shipping)
The bill arrived today for 63.92, I called them and got the run around that it was the price.
Never again to order like this, Buyer beware.
'This is a scam as bad as any.

Chefsbasket.in was over charged

I seen the advertisement on television concerning the chef basket. It was advertised for $14.99 plus $4.99 shipping and handling.IT was buy one get one free.I believe they over charged me. charging me twice for shipping and handling. I did call the number listed on the bill.Spoke with a lady. Telling her that i believed that chef basket had over charged me. her reply was that i Barbra Mcintyre could send the product back and pay shipping and handling to return the chef baskets. I believe i was already over charged.why? should i have to pay more money to chef basket.when they owe myself money. thank you for hearing my complaint.

Chefsbasket.in fictitious fees

I just placed an order for the two Chef Baskets at $14.99. I listened to the advertisement on the website and at the very end it said "call now to find out about free shipping" so I did. The CSR that I spoke to did waive the S/H charge on the baskets. I asked if I could get just the baskets and forget the knife because I wasn't interested. He said that was doable. Then he told me the total would be $14.99 plus $6.99 for processing. I told him I didn't want it if I had to pay a processing fee. I stated that I would understand paying a sales tax but nothing else. He waived the processing fee also. Then he came back and told me that the total would be $14.99 plus $2.99 for tax. I asked him what the percentage for the tax was. He told me 8% for the state of California because that is where the transaction would be processed and the baskets shipped from. I did a quick calculation and 8% of $14.99 is .83 cents. So I told him this and that $2.99 was 20% of $14.99. He then adjusted the total to the $14.99 plus .83 cents. I gave him the card number to process the transaction. After I got off the phone I checked sales tax rates in both New Jersey, where I had called, and California. NJ sales tax is 7% and CA sales tax is 9.25%. My own state is 6.25%. I have no clue where he came up with the 8%. If you take the average of NJ and CA it would be 8.625%. It was an interesting experience. I feel bad for all those consumers out there who don't question things. If I had ordered it online the total would have been around $30.00 because there was no option to get anything waived. Moral: Question everything and everyone!

Chefsbasket.in unauthorized charges/incomplete refunds

I ordered the chef basket and was under the impression only $14.99 + shipping and servicing fees would be charged. After clicking "no thanks" to all upsales online, it showed my card had been charged $55. I was unable to confirm or cancel my request. I called in on a Tuesday because the cs dept was not open on the weekends, and demanded all of my money refunded once the product was returned. After the rep continued offering partial refunds and me asking to speak to a supervisor, I was promised the entire refund including the processing fees. After returning, I was only refunded the product price. I called back in to the cs dept and was told it would take another 7-10 to have the rest of my money refunded. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told right away that she was not available because she was in a meeting and of course she would call me back within 24 hours. This company is ridiculous and is trying to get anything that they can. They obviously wanted me to go on without noticing that it wasn't a complete refund. It's only $20, but the whole way this process has gone from the time it was ordered to each call I made has been terribly shady.

Chefsbasket.in Delay, Double Rip Off, Return Rip Off

Like many other complainers, our order was doubled and the SHIPPING was doubled. This means when we returned the whole thing we were out 13.98 for shipping this very light, cheap to mail thing PLUS the 10.07 it took to mail it back to them! Not only that it took over two months to arrive so it missed the event my husband purchased it for (like many other people). AND you can buy this thing at Target in their "TV aisle" for 5 bucks less than the price here (and without all the heft rip-offs like giving you twice what you ordered!). I can't express enough my DISGUST with chef basket!

Chefsbasket.in order scam

I originally started to place an order before Christmas but when I saw there was an upgrade option I didn't want to pay for it. I also didn't want something that would rust either so I exited out of the browser before I hit the Submit Order button. I didn't receive a confirmation. This has never happened because I order things online all the time. Last week, I got the backorder postcard and immediately marked "cancel" and signed it. The postcard had 4 baskets on BO! Today, the packages showed up at my door. My bank rep called TeleBrands twice and finally got a supervisor on the phone. Because their system is down, they can't look up the account. The Sup said she would call me back in 2 hours. She called back in 5 minutes and told me the system would be down all day and I need to call back tomorrow. When I told her she needs to consider the fact she's a part of the scam, she hung up on me because I wasn't listening to her. My bank rep is calling me back in 2 hours to see if things are settled. Right now, I'm heading over to Better Business Bureau's website.

I finally got through to the company and they refused to send a return label. The post office refused the Return to Sender request (even though I had written an RMA# on the box, provided by the company) because I had taken some of the tape off the box before I realized the item in the box was from Telebrands. I taped it up, but they considered it opened.

I had the same experience. This web site made you enter your credit card number FIRST before going to the next screen to actually submit your order. I, also, backed out of the screen without hitting the "submit" button. Nothing appeared on my credit card account so I thought the order had been cancelled. NOT SO! Several weeks later I received a card about the order. I immediately wrote cancelled on it and sent it back the same day. It was four days later that the chef basket appeared on my doorstep. These marketing SCAMS have got to stop with some type of government regulation, and it should also come with a fine or penalty to stop these types of marketing scams. DON"T BUY THE CHEF BASKET!

Chefsbasket.in Incomplete Instruction Sheet

I received 3 baskets with 8 1/2 x 11 instruction sheets included (2 sheets each). One of the sheets was copied in the landscape mode instead of the portrait mode which resulted in 1/2 of the instructions missing on all three sets. I called Chef Basket to request new instruction sheets and the customer service rep wanted to sell me more baskets to get new instruction sheets! I asked to speak to a supervisor and the rep told me that he/she was on another line. This went on for 15 minutes and finally she disconnected me.

Not only is the site deceptive and charges you before you can review your order, the product is a piece of crap, flimsy and don't try using it with a tall pan, definitely a no-no, you WILL get burned.
I received 2 orders one for 60 something and one for 30 something. Not bad for a 15 dollar item, you think? Anyway, when I called, they couldn't cancel the order, (5 days before it showed up on my CC web site), unfortunately we're stuck with this overload of dubious products and people pushing crap on the American public. So, don't waste your money, if you already have, contact your CC company and file a complaint, get your $$ back and when they deliver the product, don't open, Refuse it (doesn't cost you anything) get a receipt # from the post office to prove the refusal and return to sender. The least they can do is pay for the shipping, your wasted time and frustration gets chalked up to learning a lesson.

Chefsbasket.in Triple Charged

I, too, ordered the buy one, get one free chef basket. I agreed to upgrade my order to stainless steel for an additional $4.99 per basket. Once I clicked on Submit Order, the charge shown was $63.92 even though I declined several of the other offers available. I was able to submit a cancellation, but was told to call back in 48 hours to confirm that the cancellation went through.
I plan to refuse the order if my cancellation is not processed.

I, too was way overcharged. I called the 800# and only wanted 2 sets. I did not want anything else, not even the stainless steel, but when I listened to the order, it said I ordered 3 sets. There was no way to correct it. No 'go back', no preview before submitting order. I had to wait 'til after the weekend, because they are only open Mon. thru Fri. My total was $94.91. I almost had a heart attack. I was, however, able to cancel the order. The woman at the customer servcie department was very nice. She gave me no problem.

Chefsbasket.in Deceptive ordering, double/triple charging

I ordered the Chef Basket $14.99, with the $4.99 upgrade to stainless steel. I clicked on the "No" box for a list of other options they offered. After entering my credit card info, without letting me review my order, it charged me $63.92 for a number of extra items that I did not order. I called their customer service number [protected] and was told by my Verizon provider that this call could not be completed. Tried it twice, then called the number they gave to order from their web site. After listening to a list of options I got to "track your order". It gave me the same phone number that I had already tried plus an e-mail address - "trackmyorder" or something like that. This only ended up giving me a "Site Unavailable" message.

I just received, signed and returned a post card telling me the baskets were back-ordered. The instructions said to do nothing if I wanted to wait for the items or sign and return the card if I wanted to cancel. Received it yesterday (2/21/11), signed and sent it back today.

I sent the back-order card back to them with a cancellation of the order as well! Guess WHAT: the order was shipped, anyway. I returned it and paid for the shipping ($12.50 US - NOT $51.30 THAT THEY charged).
Refund received for the order only, despite the fact that I had cancelled it in good time. NO geting through on their telephone line! Wished I had seen these complaints before I ordered!

Number is good but you wait and wait. Other comments about trying to double order on you are correct. I was able to cancel the double dip order. Ordered the stainless like you. Just found out "Verishna" who took the order then canceled it and did a new order for the regular set. Supervisior "Janele" has now canceled the regular order, done a new stainless order, and told me it may be 6 weeks before the product ships. I did get "customer assistance" (?) number = [protected]. Will try, but doubt there is any real customer assistance associated with this operation.

Chefsbasket.in double shipping

Their site is very deceptive...by design.
I was very careful in my ordering and still ended up with a double order...and they give you no area to review your order before confirming it...again, I's sure by design.
It does not give me a good impression of the company - or the product - and I would not order anythig from them again.

If you want a Chef Basket its available at Walgreen's and even cheaper on www.buycheapr.com/Chef+basket - so don't bother ordering from chefbasket.com. Also at, Bed Bath and Beyond and, Amazon.

All of you should go to Web of trust and download it. It will tell you what sites are good (green) and which are bad (Red) and everything in between as well as unrated (gray). It is really helpful when doing a search. You can then leave feedback about your experience with a site ti help with their rating and save someone else from what you had to go through. I've had it on mt computer for a couple of years now and would not want to be without it.

Wow! I'm glad I read these. I'm purchasing mine from eBay instead of te company! eBay protects there buyers against fraud and I saw the same offer from TV for $17.99 + $5.99 shipping. Feel free to visit me while checking out eBay. LaHondaMW! Good luck with this fraudulent company!

I got the same crap with the double order. Besides, they 're cheaply made and don't work very well. You need a pot with the EXACT size as the basket, or the basket collapses into the water and so do your vegetables. I will never fall prey to this crap again. Lesson learned.

I will never order from ChefBasket again. The site by design is setup to process erroneous orders! To start with, the first screen on the website asks you to enter your credit card information unlike other online vendors which allow you to verify your order BEFORE you enter your information to pay. By the time you go through each prompt answering yes or no to other offers, you have been charged with no warning. The advertised price was 14.99 plus shipping and handling. ChefBasket charged me for an additional basket (although I declined the offer) and charged me 50.95. I called immediately but didn't get an answer (it was Sunday). Oddly enough, "customer relations' called me right back on Sun. After I explained my problem, he asked me to call Mon when they opened. I called Mon and asked to cancel the order. I was told that my order would be placed "on hold" and that I would not be charged but to call back in 24 - 48 hrs. I called back on Tues after seeing my bank acct had been debited and was told that the order had shipped and he would offer me a $10 credit. I emphatically told the representative that I did NOT wish to do business with this company AT ALL. I was getting nowhere with the representative so I called my bank and filed a dispute instead. This will take 10 - 15 days and I will have to change my debit card number to safeguard against any further charges. All this aggravation to find out today that the basket is sold at my local flea market. Steer clear of Chefbasket!

I also received a double order on the Chef Basket. When I called to complain I was offered a $10 credit. This tells me they know what they are doing with these double shipments. I argued that I was not interested in having two sets and I wanted a refund for half of the amount. They gave me a return number and told me I would get a refund when they had processed the return. I verified that I would get back half of what I was charged. After thinking about it some more I thought why should I have to pay the postage and doubting that I would get the refund I was told I would. I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor. The person there tried giving me the same options again. I explained that I did not want to make her life difficult and I knew she had to stick to company policy and asked again for a supervisor. I was put on hold and, after a while, realized that this is how they handle these situations. My next call will be to the credit card company to see what my options are.

I ordered one basket with the free basket and i was charged for 2x orders. When I spoke to them they told me that i had stated i wanted 2 orders. When I told them that I only selected by pressing the buttons they became very uncooperative and told me that they would put me on hold all day. When I told them that the order could be cancelled and they were lying then they became hostile. I have reported them to the Federal Trade Commission and I have also reported them to my State's Attorney General Office to file charges of fraud against the company. I encourage everyone to do the same so we can hold the company accountable for the fraudulant charges.

Chefsbasket.in Try to understand what you paid for

Trying to understand their order system is impossible. I ended up paying almost as much shipping as I did in product. I BELIEVE I am getting 3 baskets and chef knife and a guide. I wanted 2 baskets, not three but the verbiage is so vague. I should know better than to order anything where they ask for you credit card up front. There is no confirm screen, you just bought it. You think your spending $35. but you end up spending $50.95.

I just had the same experience... only my cost was more $60.95. I immediately callled the 800 tel number and the "Status" prompt... got an operator who said my order was not qued yet, but would put an "Order Hold" to my confirmation number and that I would get an email to notify me as to getting my order adjusted. That was 12 hours ago... no such email yet. Will never order on lin again... try to find the item at WalMart or Target "As seen on TV" section. If anyone knows how to get in touch with their customer service... please contact ridinflyerdcs@yahoo.com

I agree with the complaint, i order a lot from the net as i am off-grid in Montana. When i saw that they wanted credit info up front i was very aware of a scam of some sorts. The add on Cooking Channel said free shipping and nothing about extra processing fee. I will try and find it at Wal-mart, it does look like a nice kitchen tool and i love to cook, especially in the dead' of winter and at 5000' winter's are 'deadly..ha ha...Russ, Sawmill Creek!
