JPMorgan Chase - Terrible experience!

I wrote a balance transfer check from a Citi credit card account and deposited it to my Chase account on April 15 to pay Uncle Sam and unexpected tax bill. To make a long story short, due to a processing error at Citi, the check was returned. Unfortunately, this happened twice more, again a processing error at Citi - each time I was promised (by Citi) the check would post successfully.

Yes, Citi made a mistake but they immediately responded when I explained the action Chase was taken and wrote a letter acknowledging the errors and asking Chase to reverse any negative action taken against me. Chase has accused me of kiting and has frozen my account and is return all outstanding debits.

My funds have been frozen since May 9, 2008. NO ONE called me to discuss this with me. I fully understood how bad it looked to my bank to have three deposited checks for returned in a short period of time which is why I took action immediately to correct the situation... also why Citi took immediate action on my behalf.

I was a banker for more than 20 years, I understand that the system is set up to automatically catch kiting schemes, but the system isn't smart enough to listen to a reasonable explanation or read a letter of explanation. Humans are capable of this however and are capable of reversing system decisions. Chase representatives don't seem to understand that concept. Chase told me that if I had a letter of explanation from Citi, they would reverse the decision. Citi send the letter within 30 minutes of my request. 7 days later (after repeated conversations with representatives that assured me they were working on it) I was informed that the letter wasn't good enough and that my account will be closed on 5/23 at which time my balance will be sent to me via check. In the meantime, all outstanding checks and debits are being returned unpaid even though I have the money in the bank to cover them.

I have incurred more than $500 in fees due to this error and no one can help me. I have been accused and convicted of a fraudulent act and am now being penalized for it. I DID NOTHING WRONG. I acted in good faith based on information provided to me by Citi. I have no complaint against Citi. Everyone makes mistakes but a good, reputable company (like Citi) takes action to correct mistakes.

Chase has made a huge mistake in accusing me of something I didn't do and it has caused serious financial strain. I have not been able to touch one cent of my money since May 9. I can't pay bills, I can't use my debit card, I can't withdraw cash... nothing. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. Interestingly, Chase continues to send me all kinds of advertising wanting my business, portraying themselves as a great bank that cares about their clients. What a joke!

Just got off the phone with the Claims Department at Chase, after trying to decipher what the Rep was saying...I was put on hold for over 10 minutes so she could talk to senior specialist, when the rep came back on the line said they didn't receive all the documents that I faxed to them even when I gave her the fax confirmation number idiot's ! ...
This is not the first time I have faxed documents it's been 5 or 6 times now with more proof, it's as clear as day.." totally incompetent "
a child would be able to figure this one out !.. The Chase employee which is foreign you can hardly understand her said they will reopen case and it will take a couple of days...I told her that I called 2 days ago and was told the same freaking thing... I'm just sick, my account has (17) $34 dollar overdraft fees that's $578 plus the $582 that they paid this Auction House, Totalling $1160...Chase needs to be stopped Like Today !

My Comment is and my experience is Chase is Evil...let me take a few to share my experience with this Greed driven Bank. I've been a customer of Chase for over 25 years from Valley National first then Bank One when the name changed to JP Morgan Chase. Also worked for them in their National Recovery Bankruptcy department in Arizona about 10 years. I thought that Chase was the best Bank ever and they stood behind their customer, well I've been wrong Chase customer service and personal banks are liars, rude and incompetent. Their goal is to make money for Chase no matter how much they screw their customers. I have had one of the worst experiences in my life because of Chase, they have repeatedly disregarded my request to close out an my account to due stop pays that I have paid for and even with overdraft protection they have charged me fees that our Sickening, due to Payday Loan Predators that are NOT licensed in the State of Arizona, even after having and showing them the proof that they were stealing money from my account, not just Payday predators but a Auction House as well. Chase have cost me over $2000 dollars in damages, let alone this screw up has caused my creditors to decline auto debit to pay my bills " which I need because of my Disability " Chase returned payments like my rent, Insurance which canceled me and others due to letting thieves take my money because they choose not believe a loyal customer of 25 years, its just "Not Right" ! not once but several times, .
Chases Claims department is Unbelievably incompetent even when the proof is right in front of them in black & white, they are rude, slow, hard to understand because they are not from this country " What's up with that " ? I'm still trying to get this situation taking care of had to hire an Attorney to handle this for me that's added cost, because I just can't take it anymore, but refuse to give up...Make it Right Chase pull your head out of your ### and help your customers not steal from them... p.s. It's not over yet !

I am a WAMU transfer to CHASE. I've been with them only 1 week and I already had problems elevated to nightmare proportions. I own a 3 family house where one of the tenants paid me with a check that bounced the next day after I deposited it. The tenant was the one that informed me that the check would bounce and he gave me the money in cash the same day + whatever fees the bank would charge, he gave me $40 for that. So as I expected, the account went into negative and I deposited the cash and brought it up again to what the balance should've been. Fast forward 3 days later. My account for whatever reason is FROZEN, also, my balance magically is now in minus $1200 for no reason whatsoever and i cannot use my debit card at all. This was specially a problem when I was going to pay for my family's meal at a local restaurant. Immediately as soon as I got home I called CHASE. Some guy with an Indian accent answered my call and his reasons for why this was happening where complete BS, gave me wrong information, incorrect fee charge information and also blamed me for the problem!. When I made him do some basic math with my debits and credits into the account, he realized that the numbers didn't make any sense, almost like a 2 + 2 = 5 situation. Then he was quiet for a couple of seconds and told me he was transferring me to a supervisor and he just hung up on me. I called 2 other times with similar responses from operators in third world country call centers with no one knowing what was going on and then suddenly hanging up on me. I called first thing in the morning ( since CHASE ---HEAR ME WELL--- ONLY HAS A 7AM to 9PM call center hours. ) I talk to another Indian person at 7am, this lady went way further than the last 3 last night, she went as far as telling me that it was all my fault and that I was being investigated for FRAUD! She said that CHASE opens up a fraud investigation in every single account that has a returned deposit and FREEZES the account as well. I asked her when would I be able to use my money ( since there are around $1500 completely missing, and by the way, they have no clue how my available balance is minus 1200 ) and she said she didn't know when I would be able to use the account or my missing money. I checked the account tonight, there are pending transactions going through from other stuff I bought, insufficient fund fees flying through the roof. Each one for $34. Add also the amounts that the pending transactions carry with it. Tomorrow morning and next day my fees will eat up a good portion of the remainder of my money and by the time this is all done, I will have problems also with my credit card payments which have just bounced as I'm writing this. I cannot believe a bank runs such a sloppy business in the way my money has been handled and I will cancel EVERYTHING that connects me to CHASE as soon as they straighten this thing out. Please, if you are reading this, specially if you have children and you care about their well being ( feeding them, being able to pay for their services ), steer clear of CHASE, they will clean your bank account with no reason whatsoever the moment you make a transaction which failed. They have also just become bigger since they took all the WAMU people. I am done with them and I will regret letting them handle my money, specially after I couldn't take my brother out for diner on his birthday.

Chase is a terrible bank. first i have around $50 in the bank then i deposit $353 and later that day (after no transactions have been made for a few days before) i check my balance to find that it says i have Negative $273 and i checked it a few times jsut to make sure everything was right. i checked again the next day and it went back to normal then about a week later i had used the account to buy some stuff and they account went to $57 which was right, then it shot up to $236 wondering about it i waited a few days to make sure that if it were a mistake it would correct its self but it stayed, then about a week after that happened my balance shot down to $-147 and then the morning after it was $-320 because aparently something was charged to my account then the charges were refunded and then charged again a few days later. This being an account with my father who is currently getting a divorce with his wife who has spending problems went way into debt with an account that they shared and because his name was on my acount they drained my funds without notification or anything and that put it at $O so all of the charges i had put all compiled a total of 8 overdraft fees, they only refunded two and the whole while until last night when it said $-147 my balance was far in the positive with no charges pending.

I had a HORRIBLE experience with Chase Bank.

I have great credit and always pay my credit card on time. I mistakenly paid my credit card a few days early and was penalized for it. I was charged a late fee and lost my promotional rate because the payment posted in February's statement and no payments posted in March's statement.

WHen I explained to Kay Knight in customor service at Chase what happened asking for the fee to be taken off I was completely ignored. I just transferred the entire balance to Bank of America at a good APR and I look forward to phoning Chase to close my account.

I do not feel this company is trustworthy. I had a similar experience happen with Chase back in September where I had mailed a payment and found late fees on my account and the promotional rate discontinued, they said they didn't receive the payment (which was strange bc I mailed it). I found this company to be horrible to deal with.

CHASE gives new meaning to the term customer dis-service. The persons that I have had the unfortunate experience of talking to in their CLAIMS Department are haughty, rude and completly uninterested in assisting a customer in any capacity

HOW CHASE BANK AND COLUMBIA HOUSE STOLE CHRISTMAS

On August 8, 2008 I purchased some DVDs from Columbia House, the order came to $35.84. The order was shipped missing an item after many emails and phone calls to them I finally got my remaining item but they charged me an additional three times for that one item. After another round of calls and emails I finally chalked it up to a bad experience that I would learn a lesson from.

On October 11.2008 I logged into my checking account to find that I had two pending charges of $99.76 from Columbia House! I immediately called Chase Bank’s toll free number where I spoke to a wonderful supervisor Pat, whom advised that as they were still pending she had been able to reverse them. As a caution she advised that they could submit again as long as they had my card number and provided me the number to the Chase Claims Department.

Immediately I began trying to contact Columbia House via their email process on their website - to this day they have NEVER responded to the dozens of emails that I have sent regarding this issue. Calls are answered by someone not qualified to handle the matter, so a supervisor will need to return your call and that NEVER happens either.

I tried to remove my card information from their site, which the site does not allow you to do! You also can not remove the check mark in the box allowing them to use that information for any future shipments and charges! In frustration I changed the billing information on the card to Big Bird, 123 Sesame Street, New York NY 10001

On October 14, 2008 they again debited my checking account for $99.76 which resulted in CHASE Bank charging me $75.00 and $32.00 for insufficient funds fees.

I contacted CHASE Bank filed a claim and closed that debit card (as they would not file the claim other wise). I provided them with screen shots showing no purchases, no shipments, no pending orders since the August fiasco and was advised by Angel that CHASE Bank would be crediting back the charge and any related insufficient funds fees.

Initially they did credit back the $99.76 and the $75.00 for insufficient funds. CHASE refused to credit the $32.00 as Donnell advised me because a previous request had been made (the $75.00) within a 12-month period.

On November 20, 2008 CHASE bank reversed themselves and took the $99.76 and the $75.00 from my checking account. I contacted CHASE Claims Department on 11.21.2008 and was advised by Judy that she would re-open the claim and I would receive that information shortly. Several hours later there was still no information received. Again I contacted CHASE claims where upon Andre advised me that I would need to speak with a supervisor whom was currently on another call and would need to call me back.

To date there has been no communication from Judy or Andre’s supervisor, maybe CHASE has Columbia House train the employees in their Claims Department!

Thanks to Grinches at COLUMBIA HOUSE and CHASE BANK there will be no Christmas in our household this year. The theft of over $200.00 from my account by these two supposedly reputable companies has ended any possibility of a celebration of any kind in my household

BE WARNED AND TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ANYWHERE ELSE

I completely agree that this bank is a huge JOKE! I closed my account w/them years ago and advised all my friends and family to do the same. My brother was just charged over $200 in fees for a problem that was no fault of his. He and I called Chase several times to get the fees recredited to his account and so far, NOTHING, NADA, ZIP, ZILTCH! When is someone going to finally either close down this bank or completely revise their ridiculous system of operation? Everytime someone asks me to recommend a bank, I always tell them that the very best advice I can give them is to steer way way way clear of CHASE!
