JPMorgan Chase disability discrimination

I am a disabled person with a tracheostomy. And I went to cash a check that was drawn on their bank from National College, After charging me $6 and me giving them my driver license, they insisted on another piece of ID. They were smug, and staring at my Trache. I gave them my fishing license, travel rewards card and my WV medical insurance card. But they still refused. I went to my car and returned (all the while struggling to to breathe). I returned and gave them my Property Tax Bill, My Car registration ticket and card, My insurance ID cards, My blood donor Card, my Auto Tax bill, but still they refuse and by this time they were sniggering at me. I told them, that I knew that they were hasseling me because of my disability, the assistant manager said, "No just those forms of ID wont do". I went back to my car and got my social security card, and took that to them. They refused my Social security card, but finally said since I was disabled they could accept my travel rewards card! Now anyone can get a travel rewards card. Then they acted like they didnt think the check would clear the College's account, after about standing their an additional 15, huffing and puffing about ready to collapse, they finally cashed it. I have already called customer service and told them what happened, but they were not interested. How ever she did say she would have it investigated. I plan on filing a complaint with my state attorney generals office, and see if they will help me. I would advise anyone else to do the same. That was the most horrible experience I have EVER encountered at a bank. Of course they kept telling me, if I opened up an account there, I would have no problems cashing checks! This was after offering AT LEAST 10 other pieces of government issued documents, showing my mailing address (which was on the check and my drivers license). This chase bank is sick!

Closing your credit card will decrease your credit score anyway...file the dispute on the unauthorized charges and request the account to be closed due to fraud.

Rowan,

I agree with you that disability was not the issue in this case, it was a matter of acceptable forms of ID for check cashing purposes. And the OP doesn't have a chance at any type of complaint with the State or any other entity. However, I do not agree with your sentiment regarding being too disabled to drive, travel, and fish. I do all of these things and I am disabled. Not "perceived" to be disabled either. I fish, camp (with some small changes obviously) go see shows, go to the mall, etc. all from my Quickie Revolution.

I do not think being disabled means getting around rules though, which is why the complaint just doesn't hold water.

You say you are so disabled it was extremely hard for you stand there and to go back to your car to get more id? Yet you drive, travel and fish... all according to the cards you were trying to use as ID. See, this is my complaint with you: You are claiming discrimination based on your, "trache" but that wasn't really the issue. You didn't have the required two forms of ID to cash a check at a bank where you are not their client and you are using your perceived disability as a reason they should set aside their rules. In other words, you want special treatment...Where as I, with a prosthetic leg just want to be treated normally. I seriously doubt anyone was would refuse to cash a check because the person in front of them had a, "trache."

There are serious issues of discrimination, (of all forms) in the world. However it is those few individuals who feel so very entitled and demand something extra, ( like in your case, skating around their rules regarding ID, ) because of their disability that FORCE those in public service to be very wary of ANYONE who has some sort of protected status.

You are fortunate that Bank Manager took the ID she did. Next time, go to your own bank to cash your check and leave claims of discrimination to those persons who have REAL problems.

JPMorgan Chase rate increase and cash advance payments

My promotional fee went from 10.24% to 12.24% and I had also noticed that the cash advance total with a higher interest rate of 19.24% was not being paid off with my regular payments that are normally over the amount due. I wrote to Chase and asked them to apply the overage of my payments to the cash advance as I did not want the amount to keep increasing with the higher interest rate. They wrote me back and told me that they only apply the payment to the lower interest rates first and don't have the option to apply any extra payment money to higher interest amounts until the lower interest amount due is paid off. That is unfortunate and unfair as it will be a while before I pay off the $5700 with the now 12.24% interest. They offered to refund me the overage of payments I have made in the past years. They never did explain why my rate went up from 10.24% to 12.24% when I've been making my payments on time and over the amount due. I've always believed that when you make payments over the amount due, it gives some credit carte blanche. What a rip off! I am going to find another credit card company to transfer the total balance and get out of this scam as soon as I can!

Unfortunately, we live in a time where we encouraged to live off credit cards. My advice is to stay away from credit cards and debit cards. I thought the purpose of these cards were to make customers life easier. Did you notice how we are constantly lured to use Debit and Credit cards for all our purchases through ads on TV? I am a business owner myself, 95% of my business sales is on credit cards. And of that 95%, I have to give back 5% to the credit card processing company through fees. I don't think customers are aware of that. Its no wonder companies are going belly up. We do the work, someone else shares in the profits. What gives them the right? Since the economic crisis I encourage my customers to pay me in cash now, not only does it bring me savings, it lets me pass the savings onto them. God knows we all need help right now. I'd rather give the money to people who really need it. And not these money hungry companies like Chase, who absolutely does nothing for customers. If you want to manage your money better, I say you pay off your credit cards and rely less on debt. Pay for things cash. If you don't have it, don't spend it.

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but unfortunately all credit card companies utilize the same unethical policies that Chase does. This includes Bank of America, Advanta, Citibank, First Equity, Fifth Third, etc. They took our FIXED RATE CARD from 7.99% to 16.99% after several years of excellent payment history. If you read the fine print, they basically can do whatever they want. The unfortunate thing is, even if it's not in the fine print they can still do whatever they want. I understand being in business to make money (as a business owner myself) but these banks are out of control and need to be stopped.

JPMorgan Chase poor business practices

I paid off one Chase card that I had had since it was a Washington Mutual. Everything was okay for another billing cycle, in which I paid the balance in full again. The next month, I tried to charge $3.41 on a card with $3000.00 credit limit and the transaction declined. I called Chase Card services after looking at my forcoming statement online. The "no-customer" service department told me that due to reviewing my credit report, they chose to close my account. The funny thing is, first, I still have two more credit card accounts with small balances that they left open. Why would a company, if the deciding factor was something on my credit report, close the account that I just paid off and leave two more accounts, of which I carried a small balance, open. Secondly, their reasoning makes no sense as the month before, my Citibank card just, out of the blue, dropped my interest rate by 5 points. I told the representative that I would pay off my other two accounts and that I would never do any type of business with Chase again on any level. If enough of us choose to do that, the will fail and maybe this time, OUR governing body will see fit to let a company with such poor business practices, fail.

This looks like Chase's common business pratice. I did get a letter saying that they had closed my account due to "too few accounts paid as agreed". I went into panic mode thinking my identity had been stolen and pulled my Esperian credit report. The report showed 24 accounts in my nine year history, all paid as agreed. My credit score had actually increased 20 points over the previous month.

I thought it was a mistake so I called Chase and the anti-christ of customer service told me that no, it wasn't a mistake...your account has been closed for the reason shown in the letter. I advised him that I had checked my credit report and there were no accounts "not paid as agreed" and he said that "wasn't what they meant". I asked what exactly did they mean and he couldn't answer it so he just said your account is closed because that's what we want to do.

I asked him about the $25 billion dollars in public bailout money they took that was supposed to help them extend credit and he said "we've paid that money back so we can do whatever we want to now". So much for their integrity.

Since your credit score is tied to your rates on other cards, your car insurance premiums, home owners premiums, ability to get decent rates on any type of finanacing and even your ability to get a job, I would have to say that Chase has caused irreputable damage to each and every customer that's had their account closed for no reason. Since it looks like it's thousands of accounts, if you lumped the damages together, I'm certain it would be in the ten's of millions of dollars. Chase should be held accountable.

I know for a fact that I'm going to take a hit on my credit score just because they closed this account, even though it was in good standing. I won't know how bad until next month so until then I'll just be stressed over it. Does that amount to pain and suffering? How much is that worth?

I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pissed and those are my thoughts. I hope a good law firm does take this on and gets us some justice.

chase has done nothing but screw me for the past year. Last fall I got slow at work and had to use 2 of my chase cards, only using about 45% on both of them. Well now they are halfway paid off and now they upped the apr and are trying to close the one account on me

I just had a similar experience where Chase closed my account without notifying me & I only found out when I went to make a purchase with the card. The customer service rep was useless and curt, cutting me off when I went to interject about not being notified and how that's unfair!

JPMorgan Chase sent us promotional check to write, cancelled it on us after we put it in the bank.

We had just received a promotional low interest check in our last statement to use on whatever we wanted to. WE never were late on a payment and had a 15, 000 credit limit available to us on the statement they gave us.

We wrote a 1, 900 check to our checking acct. to cover some bills we needed to pay. We wrote checks from our banking acct. paying these other bills.

After we sent out all these other checks, Chase cancelled the check for 1, 900. We were led to believe we had up to 15, 000 to use, then Chase calls and says they decided to drop our credit limit to 1, 200 after being with them for years and never having bad credit.
They tell us this after we wrote the check, way under what our credit limit was in the statement.

Their explanation is that they can lend money to who they want and they can change credit limits at any time... (That's just not right.)
Go to HelL Chase... We're done with you!

The same thing happened to me. I have never been late with payments. They sent me promo checks with low interest told me to use before Sept. 30. I used the check and got a letter after the fact that they couldn't honor it because they just reduced my credit limit.

I too had $2, 500 available on a $12, 800 credit line, which I was encouraged to use to pay off other cards.

I had unexpected expenses that drew my checking account down. On 08/14/09, I called Chase to see about getting a $800 transfer check to my checking account to tide me over until payday 08/26/09, I was told that I could not make a transfer to my checking account, it had to go to a credit card. I then asked them to transfer $800.00 to pay a credit card payment, which was due on 08/24/09. I was told that it would take 5-7 days for the transfer to be processed. I was also told the transfer could not be canceled. I asked if the transfer was accepted and they said yes, but it has to be reviewed and I will be notified by mail if it is declined. Great, now I have a transfer that has been submitted, but I don't know if it is actually approved and it can't be canceled. I called again on 08/21/09 to confirm that there was not any problems and the transfer was being processed. I was reassured that everything was okay the transfer was being processed. On 08/22/09, I received a letter in the mail stating that my transfer had been declined and my credit line reduced by $2, 200.00, because I was close to my credit limit. To me it wasn't close to the credit limit, but now it sure is. Now it is too late for me to make any other arrangements until 08/26/09, and I will now get a late charge for not making my payment due on 08/24/09 with the other card company.

JPMorgan Chase wamu (chase liars)

I am so sick of being ripped-off. These banks seem to do whatever they wish. I hope you go down anyway. The banks that should be getting the bail-outs are the small hometown banks.
I was never late with Wamu and had excellent payment record with them. I pay my bill thru bill pay automatically. Well, Chase has changed the due date 2 times and also raised the intrest rate all without any notification. Although they say they mailed notice to you. Yeah right! You should be sued!

This is to the attention of every one involved with chase . I would appreciate if some one let me know how one can take action against chase. My brother deposited $4000, my commission to my business account in chase. I have been here for 3 months here and finished all my money and this money was supposed to get my ticket and the rent I owed. When he was in the process of depositing all they told him that I owe 100$ to bank and after they take out this money they will deposite the rest of money in 3 working days. After 3 working days I checked my account and got the message " Please contact your bank. I called the bank and they told me that because I owed 100 dollars for 3 months they closed my account and will send a cashier cheque to my address that will reach around 7 days. I called bank and explained them that when they accept to deposite the money they are rsponsible, but all they did was to send me from one dept to other. Now I am stuck here without money and Have no idea what to do

Best Regards

I had a Washington Mutual Account while living in Seattle that was overdrawn and which I listed on my bankruptcy petition in 2008. The WaMu debt was DISCHARGED in 2009 (meaning, I had no obligation to that debt). NOW, over a year and a half later, Chase has decided to send out a "fraudulent activity" notice to my bank in Indianapolis because of the WaMu debt. My bank (not Chase!) in turn put a hold on my accounts and is going to close them. They committed a fraud against me, yet they have put me in a most unfortunate position by doing this, illegally and may now lose my home.

Ha! I got a call yesterday from the chase banker from my message above on the building loan.
He now works for CitiBank in San Francisco!

Right now we are waiting for some city re-zoning paperwork before they sign the actual Citibank loan for the building we take possession of in June.
Once I have the information once a year I want to buy a bottle of champagne, pour a glass and post a message here stating how much interest our company paid Citibank in the last year on the multi-million dollar loan.
It will feel good to know that I had something to do with them not getting the money and give me reason to celebrate their loss!

[censor], Chase canceled our WAMU credit cards even though we paid off every month like clockwork, without notice or consideration of our many good years' experience with WAMU. Chase the absolute bottom of the list, a position they share with BOA constrictor bank. They canceled on people who were out to dinner...in France, and other situations equally as bad. No problem in our case, I learned by trying to buy a trinket on the net. Their stupid, customer unfriendly letter arrived days later. They're just beautiful, and we're only waiting to make arrangements to switch everything out of there to Wells Fargo; I know, they're all about as bad...but none as bad as Chase and their little counterpart BOA.

Like so many others, I have also been affected by the predatory practices of Chase Bank.
Like everyone else here, there was absolutely nothing I could do but watch Chase Bank destroy the credit I spent 35+ years building.

But, I did find a way to get a small victory.

I am an officer at a mid-sized, growing corporation in Silicon Valley.
I don't own the company or very much of the stock, but they do listen to my advise in financial matters.

Our company recently decided to expand and purchase a multi-million dollar building (fortunately, we are doing well in this down economy).
There were two banks vying for the business, Chase and CitiBank. (I know, Citi is not much better than Chase, but they are better.)
The Chase reps took us to lunches, a couple of Baseball Games (even a SF Giants playoff), and a Warriors Game in a Luxury Suite!... all goodies that THEY offered, we NEVER asked for anything.
Never once did I say I was even considering endorsing Chase Bank.

On the decision day I got to stare the local SFO Chase Bank VP from across my desk and say (in basic terms) ''SCREW YOU AND THE BANK YOU WORK FOR!''

Afterwards I was called into the CEO's office and asked what that was all about.
I told him my Chase Horror Story and he just said ''Oh, that make sense''.
.
.
They signed the paperwork with Citi and we move next June. :)

JPMorgan Chase collection staff

Gloria, the collection agent from miami, fl. Has been calling every person with my last name leaving harrassing phone messages. My wife and son have been in contact with chase auto finanace expaining that our son is presently unemployed. He has been doing odd jobs and has came up with the two payments that he is behind on. The chase rep. Stated that it did not matter that they were repossessing his truck, tomorrow 07/15/2009.

We would like for chase auto finance to be more understanding in this economic hard times. Our son is trying and will catch up on the payments. Without the truck he will not have a chance.

I to was contacted by Chase Auto today and I was only 10 days late on my care payment. A Victoria Umeri in the collection office in Arizona told me if I did not pay by October 23rd they were going to repo my car. I am a 61 year old female on social security. I tried to explain that I could not pay until I got my social security check this month and she said that was not exceptible. I filed a complaint with her supervisor and they are currently looking into my complaint and will get back with me regarding the outcome. They advised me that she does not have the right to threaten repocession. I don't want to see her fired, but I do want her to be repremended so she does not do this to someone else. I do not suggest Chase Auto to anyone who is looking for a finance company. I have a wonderful friend who gave me the money to pay them off today! When I went to a Chase bank to pay off my car loan, they even gave the bank representative a hard time was really nasty to her. Please do not do any business with Case Auto or you will regret it later.

JPMorgan Chase mortgage payment

I've had my mortgage thru Chase for many many years. Due to the economy, I applied for a "Loan Modification" Program thru Chase which made it easier for me to afford my mortgage payment monthly. July, August and September are temporary payments until my paperwork in approved, etc. The rep at the time worked this out with me on the phone, asked me for my checking acct number and routing number for my bank (I do not bank with Chase) and my mortgage payment will be taken automatically the 1st of each of these months which I verbally agreed to. However, Chase debited my checking account TWICE for July and now i have to PROVE to them that they did. I can't tell you the number of times I've been transferred and disconnected, never mind the reps that are non-english speaking and are incompetent. I obtained "proof" from my bank, typed up a letter and faxed that over to the fax number(s) that were provided to me and have yet to be credited back or heard a word. I went into a new Chase Branch today and the Branch Manager there even got nowhere after being on the phone for at least 35 minutes. We're talking over $1000 of my money that Chase should not have nor were authorized to debit this twice. I pray to God that come August, this same "mistake" doesn't happen again or unfortunately, I'll have to incurr another expense and hire an attorney.

well - its time to try suing

I have to give you an earful of what really happens from my standpoint.

I filed with Chase in July 2009 - not long after I was laid off. I had been in my home 3 years at that point - bought just as the market was at it's highest in 2006. I bought at 6.5% and had a bit more than 5 % down. The house had declined in value some (not like the person above) from about 264 to 229...so i was only negative equity about 8.5k.

I had my personal banker at Chase help me with all the paperwork - it took us hours and I was appreciative. About a month or so later - I received the terms - and the four trail payment dates (the first of Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec). I made each payment on time - or a day or two ahead.

Within a few weeks - as the person above described - I kept getting phone messages and mail that material was not sent in properly - although it was certified by the personal banker. I did the paperwork all over again - plus added all the material they asked for (they not only wanted the 4506T but then asked for me and my wifes entire tax return (which was over 70 pages). I faxed that all in the first week of November (we filed our taxes on Oct 15). It cost me 1 dollar per page - so the entire form was about 90 dollars.

I received calls at both my residence and cell phone daily (usually two calls a day - some days just one) during the rest of november and december - putting me on hold - as they then got back on the line - to tell me everything was "just perfect" - and I should hear something soon.

Between Christmas and New Years - I had called several times to see if I could get an answer - as the trial period was ending. They had no info.

Finally - 2 days before the New Year - I receive a phone call that says all of my information is now "outdated" - and i need to send it in again. As my wife was self employed - i needed to also have a CPA send in a certified P&L statement. In the meantime - keep making the trial payments. No problem.

I sent in all the info again. More money to fax.

Soon i received the daily calls again - for a few days all was ok. Then - someone comes back and says - "you need to sign your hardship affidavit form" - - to which i reply - "there's no place for a signature" - which he then said - "you're underwriter - kristina gordon - requests it - even tho there is no place for it."

I then FAX ANOTHER copy in again. However, I just signed the paper i faxed in about a week earlier. Apparently - that was wrong. I received a call Jan 19 - ish to tell me that the form i signed and faxed and the date that i signed and dated were not matched. I was told "I need to download a clean copy and then re-write it - and make sure I sign it and make sure the fax date and the signature on my hardship letter matched."

"BLEEEEP!"

So i re-wrote the entire hardship letter - four pages front and back - and re-faxed it. More money for the accountant. This time - I went back to Chase - who offered to go through the materials and fax it themselves - which they did. Certified.

In the meantime - at the end of Jan - I go back to my personal banker and tell her the story. The manager comes in and listens. I tell him i hear of stories about Chase giving people the runaround - as I had researched - and he says (I swear) - in a mumbled tone "I would get a lawyer if i were you."

I came out to the car and told my wife - we decided that would be overkill - and it's all just a formality.

In the meantime - I keep making the payments - and I received my two daily calls telling me all was just fine. At the end of Feb - I was told the underwriter had reviewed and written the information - and that the material had gone to a supervisor - and I would get my offer soon.

OH BOY.

After March 1st - I was called - expecting the usual chit chat - only to be informed my information was now outdated - and I needed to send it all in again. Plus a new P&L...it was tax season - and I had to pay an accountant to do that. And re-fax. Hundreds more spent.

I went to Chase - sat down with the manager who told me to get the lawyer - - I was pretty upset - - and I asked him flat out - "am i being taken?" He assured me no - this time - and said if i was patient - it would all work out in my favor.

By April the first - all the info was back in - and accounted for. I received sporadic calls this time - about every 3 days - - but each person assured me that all was good. I exasperatedly told that people on the phone that "last Feb the underwriter was finished - and an offer was forthcoming - why was it taking so long?". Never got a straight answer. Just a few days ago - i was called - and he said again - "you are perfect - and an offer will be made within two weeks." HOWEVER, I received a letter today stating that I was denied because "repeated requests for proper documentation were not met".

Ridiculous. I never missed a payment - even tho it started in September - and now its a day before June - in fact I was early. I sent in HUNDREDS of pages of documentation - alot of the work performed and proofed by Chase bankers - got yanked around by stupid requests (sign the back even tho there is no place for it - etc) only to be denied. I made it my business to make sure i answered every call - sometimes they came within minutes of each other (on each phone) for months - and this is what i get?

So - now i have this lovely paper trail - an electronic list of each call i received from chase - and now it's time to do exactly what the chase manager suggested. I am getting a lawyer - and I am suing. This process is NOT for the workers. It is NOT to help Americans out. It's to string us along until they have a reason (valid 0r make believe) to not adjust the mortgages - keep the money they've been given - and take our properties.

I tried to call today - when i received the letter - but the offices are all closed til Tuesday for the holiday. Oh well - I guess I will just use this time to document all this crap and get everything ready for the lawyer. I will go to chase tuesday and pull all my accounts.

And yes - the last phone call to tell me "everything was perfect" came after the date the letter was stamped and mailed.

Completely agree. Since going into short sale with Chase in second position, they have consistently violated the fair debt collection act leaving a consistent 3 messages per day at work and home numbers. The first mortgage holder was notified as per law and desisted in the daily calls. Chase refuses to do so, even though they have the sale paperwork.

They purchased the mortgage and unrequested by me. When the loan was set up, it was through two independent loan brokers with reasonable terms. Chase "purchased" the paper and everything has been nasty and harassing ever since. And screw any trolls on this list who state what right so and so has to reclaim "their" property. When legal due process has been followed by a homeowner, Chase Mortgage Bank has to legally follow suit. They are lawbreakers.

JPMorgan Chase usury

I have been a chase card holder for 20 years. On a payment to pay the entire balance of $325 I was charged a $39 late fee and interst of $6.50 for paying 48 hours late. On a other card I had a balance of 1325 and I paid my zero percent rate increased to 15% and charged $39 and $15.75 in interest also for paying 48 hours late.

Since they refuse to reconsider the late fees I am taking chase to small claims court to recover my fees and a interest
Which is billed at over 1000%.

Even if I lose I still win since they will have to pay $200 to defend themselves in van nuys municiple court!.

We have 3 credit cards from chase bank. We have never been late on any payments. Our FICO scores are in the high 700's. Yet in the past 6 months, chase bank has increased the interest rate on all cards and now lowered the credit limit on all the cards.

I heard chase bank made a profit of over 5 billion DOLLARS last year, still they gouge people.

This is my complaint for all to see.

All of the big banks are reaping record profits by gouging the average consumer in any number of ways. In addition, the big banks will not lend to smaller banks and small businesses If everyone moved all of their banking business to honest and smaller regional or local banks, and quit using (and paying) their big bank creadit cards maybe that will finally send a message to the big banks. The Government is certainly not going to do anything about it.

JPMorgan Chase did not honor rewards balance

Without any warning to me whatsoever Chase Bank have cancelled my credit card due to "inactivity". I had over 26, 000 reward points on the account earned in good faith adhering to their purchase and payments policies. They inform me that these points are forfeited because the account has been closed.

This is sharp practice of the worst kind and I advise anyone who reads this to terminate any business with this set of crooks.

I had the same thing happen. Chase closed my account as well without notice after I just made a payment of $1500 the two days prior. Just like that I lost 34, 500 rewards points almost a $700 value and they wont give me an answer why! Terrible company!

I never was late on my payments and I always paid my balance in full. Never a carryover. And they up and cancelled my account without warning. I tried to use my rewards and found out I couldnt.. Chase is a bad bad company... Boo...

JPMorgan Chase non-customer fees

So I was for the last 12 years a loyal Washington Mutual customer. At least until Chase took over. It was problem after problem from them closing an account with out notification for what they called "lack of use" (I didn't have money to deposit for a month and a half; not really "lack of use") to their rediculous reaction to unauthorized charges on my account (They wanted me to have the company who made the transactions call Chase and tell them they were unauthorized?!). But today takes the cake. I took a Washington Mutual check from my mother to the Washington Mutual branch near my home (that I used to have an account with and am on first name basis with the employees) and was told in order to cash the check it would cost me $5! WTF is that. They are the only bank in the US I know of that charges people to cash their own checks?! The managers response? Chase's policy states that if you don't have an account there is a $5 fee to cash Wamu/Chase checks?! At a WaMu/Chase branch? I am flabergasted & disgusted. This is exactly the reason I closed this account, more importantly my mother is pissed her check isn't being honored with out a fee & she's cancelling too. I think their goal is to alienate & piss off everyone so they have no customers...I just don't understand.

You said they closed the account but in the end you say you closed the account?!?!?!?!? Banks don't close accounts for lack of use unless it has been several years with no activity. If your accoutn was negative for a set period of time they have every right to close it. The non customr fees are common in a lot of banks now a days if you don't want to pay it cash it AT YOUR OWN BANK!

The charge for a Non-Customer to cash a check at the bank it was drawn on is very common among all major banks. Just go to any other bank and ask, you will find that this fee actually varies and can be anywhere from $5-$10.

So be sure that before you open your next account you ask them what their policy is.

JPMorgan Chase unfair interest added to beginning of contract

Used Chase Health Advance to finance $20, 000 dental work on a promotional no interest plan for 18 months. Set up automatic payments using bill pay through my bank account. One payment did not get made by the bank on time so I received a notice that the payment was late and a $39.00 late fee had been added to the loan. I had been making more than the required minimum payment each month so immediately made a double (larger than minimum) payment on the account. As soon as the payment was posted I received a letter termining the no interest promotional plan because I had paid one payment late. The new interest rate would be 24.75% figured back to the date of the original loan. I immediately paid off the account but it cost me $1, 900 for one late payment. The company conveniently has NO OPTION for automatic withdrawals from your bank account or online payments of any kind. The entire financing program is designed to trick people into payment interest rates in excess of 24%. Do not use Chase Health Advance for any medical financing and tell anyone you know considering them as a financing source that they are a very expensive SCAM.

I am having similiar problems. This company inconvienently does not have automatic payments - you have to use your bank payment option or go in every month and schedule the payment. I had one similiar problem where I was on vacation and my payment didn't go through. I called and payed immediately and also paid the late fee, thinking I wouldn't have to deal with it later. Well the late fee didn't post until the next month and my payment did not count towards it. Since the date on my paper statement was one date later than the phonecall I made, I assumed (incorrectly) that the system hadn't caught up yet. Long story short, this misunderstanding snowballed and I was charged more fees. I called several times to try to sort the situation out and received no help. They refused to refund any fees and I just ended up paying the balance so I didn't have to deal with them anymore. Poor costumer service! I won't use them again, that's for sure.

I also got snookered here with faulty language. They state on their documentation that the 'promotional period' ends on (in my case) 11.4.10 and on the same document state a 'due date'(my regular monthly payment date). Now I'm a reasonable person and when I see 'due date' and 'promotional period end date' guess when I think the payment is due? Long story short I paid the entire load off by the 'due date' and a full 11 days after my loan was paid in full I receive a statement saying I owe the back interest. This is compete BS and calling is a joke, they are rude and offensive. I have just complained to the BBB but I bet nothing comes of it because they are accredited with the BBB and that just means they paid the BBBs extortion fee's for the A+ rating.

I am also having bad experiences with this company. I was late on payments due to unforeseen circumstances. I made a check by phone where they charged me an NSF fee but never attempted to take the money from the account as I would have seen the attempt on my bank statement. They charged me a $45 late fee that I had to talk until I was blue in the face for them to understand the situation and take it off. I still don't have written confirmation that they took the charge off. They claimed that they added an extra zero when transcribing my account number but based on the previous testimony, I'm wondering if they had the right information all along.

Part 2 of this testimonial is that I had organized a work-out plan where I made the payment and paid the amount that I needed to be current...according to the last rep. What they didn't tell me is that this "work-out" plan had to be approved. They claim that it took over a month to do so and therefore didn't deem my agreed payment as being a full payment. Thus, they charged me a late fee even though I paid on time as agreed.

It seems that this company is all about the fees. I also believe that this company employs tactics that are unethical in order to obtain as many fees as they can. Their reps are not interested in listening. They talk over you when you try to explain the situation and don't acknowledge that you've said anything when it doesn't favor their position.

Every "zero intrest fo X months" works in that manner. You have to be sure that you pay them on time and 5 days early. Its never a bad idea to be just one payment ahead. If you are in the position to make double payments then you need to mail them in seperate envelopes. This way you are definately not going to be one or two days late, you will instead be thirty days early. Problem solved. If you are not in the position to make more then the minimum payment stay away from these plans. They are structured to have a remaining balance at the end of the cycle. How do you think they make their money when they loan it out for free. Bill pay is the smartest way to mail out bill with these companies. Leaves a paper trail that cant be argued with. Just send them out sooner. Chris N

I received a call conveniently after the payment due date to ask me why I have not made a payment? When I stated that I had, the rep went on to inform me that the payment was return Insufficient funds. When I explained that could not be I received a confirmation, she then explained that there has been a lot of people that have keyed in the incorrect routining or account numbers and this might be the case. When I asked why I wasn't contacted sooner, she had no answer. Now they want to stick me with a $39 late fee, and a $29 return fee. I then asked well which is it? Is it a Insufficient funds or error in the system? The Rep stated she did not know! So you want me pay a fees but can't prove to me that it was my error. Did we bail this company out? I have not had one good experience with this company.

JPMorgan Chase unfair interest charges

I signed a loan 2 years ago for some dental work that was to be performed and the terms of the loan were no interest for 2 years as long as the loan payments were made on time. So I set my automatic billing feature from my online bank and payments were made for the entire life of the loan, except I mis-timed the end of the loan payments by 2 months. So, consequentially Chase is saying I owe the complete interest from day 1, the principal was 5000, they are saying I owe 2000 in interest. Is there anything I can do to fight these charges or am I liable ? 40% interest is just unheard of and completely unfair.

JPMorgan Chase 2% to 5% min without opt out option

My wife and I personally have three credit cards with Chase Bank. On June 23, 2009, we received a change in terms for each account stating the minimum payment would be increasing from 2% to 5% of the ending balance. Over the years, we have consolidated our debt to these cards because Chase promised fixed low rates for the life of the loan and 2% monthly minimum payments. They said we had earned these terms as one of their "best" customers. We are not proud of our debt, but we had our reasons (child abuse at our daycare, our 6-year-old has Tourette's Syndrome, and I had bacterial meningitis). We made every single payment on time, in spite of the bad economy and our personal family hardships.

All 850, 000 of the customers targeted for this change in terms want to opt out of this change to the amendment to keep the terms the same and close our accounts but Chase WILL NOT LET US; this seems ILLEGAL and is definitely AMORAL. Carter Franke made a statement in front of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs on January 25, 2007. Franke said Chase would provide a customer with an "opt out" option when changes to terms were announced. Franke said, "this means that the customer may reject any change in terms, close their account, and pay off the balance under their existing terms." He lied.

Less than 14 months later, he provided testimony in front of the House Committee on Financial Services regarding the credit card reform bill (HR 5244). Franke said, “The bill requires a bank to follow payment terms which cost a great deal to implement – costs that will be passed on to consumers – and will virtually end competitive efforts to win business through low or zero interest offers. At Chase, our experience is that consumers appreciate these offers and take advantage of them. Many have become our long-term, valued customers…We believe that especially in times of economic uncertainty, our customers appreciate knowing that whatever financial strain they might face, we won’t add to it, as long as they remain in good standing with us.”

Carter Franke then threatened the same House Committee as follows: “We also very strongly believe the context in which HR 5244 is being put forward argues for considerable restraint on this legislation. In this uncertain economy, with credit markets already much tighter than they have been in many years, prudence would seem to dictate extreme caution with legislation that has the potential to further restrict consumers’ access to credit…there is clear indication that restricting credit cards [with this legislation] would likely have painful consequences for consumers and small businesses - and eventually for the U.S. economy."

I don't think the credit card companies should have been allowed any changes to terms after President Obama signed the credit card reform bill (HR 5244). Chase may have needed some time to get their paperwork in order but these changes to terms were definitely against the spirit of the delay in the effective date - it gave Chase time to follow through on their "painful" threats.

This recent credit card amendment to increase our minimum payments from 2% to 5% is absolutely ridiculous and needs to be reversed. These one million people cannot afford it and most of them will have to file for bankruptcy. We were already paying down our debt at a rapid pace with our low interest rate loans - we did not need "help" to pay them down any faster.

Thank you for your advice Angela123...

I have continued to be furious with Chase because I consider their moves to be illegal and completely corrupt. When we are done with Chase, and we will eventually be done...we will NEVER, EVER, EVER use Chase for a loan again. We are young and we will never forget. We will not use Chase for a credit card, a house, a car, a checking account, or anything... We will tell all our friends Chase cannot be trusted. I hope this latest move of theirs backfires and they fall apart mid September from the backlash and the bankruptcies. They are immoral.

Thank you for your comment...it's nice to hear from somebody in the same situation. I'm going to keep fighting as long as I can. I've written letters to everybody I can think of and filed complaints with the OCC and the BBB. Chase has to respond to those in writing.

I read on some blogs that if you don't pay your card, Chase can put a lien on your home and secure a judgment for a hold on your bank account (and any paychecks deposited). I've also read that Chase will not work with credit counselors. So save your money to file for bankruptcy immediately if that's your plan. Save your house and bank accounts before it's too late. Of course, it may take them awhile to get around to you since they'll be dealing with a LOT of judgments and liens! They are truly cutting off their legs with this deal. We've been the loyal customers holding them up all this time.

Check around on the web. Chase's arbitration clauses may turn out to be illegal or unenforceable as a practical matter. Search for articles from July 2009 about the National Arbitration Forum and you'll see what I mean. So they are gonna have a hard time trying to collect these debts.

Watch out and read any papers they send you in case they figure out how to get an arbitration going.

If they can't get an arbitration going, they will have to hire lawyers and sue. Then you file an answer to the lawsuit which is a piece of paper saying you don't think you owe the money and the claim is fraudulent (I'm not a lawyer but I talked to one). Then it's up to them to prove the claim and the judge won't rule in their favor unless they prove the claim.

They can't take your house or stuff unless they prove the claim and get a judgment. They might be able to take money in your banking account if you bank with chase, so move your bank account to a completely different bank.

Good luck and keep me posted on how Chase reacts when you stop paying the bill, because I'm seriously considering just not paying them. I can't afford the 5% payments and if they don't stick to their side of the agreement, I don't see why I have to keep my side of the agreement.

Call them - ask for a supervisor - ask for their supervisor - ask for the mnager -

I eventually got to a person who closed my account and reduced my interest to 2% .

this actually reduces my monthly payment and will pay off my card sooner.

This was my experience.

the first two people just told me that there was nothing I could do and suggested I talk to a credit counseler

Don't take no for an answer

I've been with Chase for over 15 years. I too received notice that the minimum payment would now be 5% of the balance which basically more than doubles my monthly payment. And I was told that if one continues to pay the monthly payment that they were paying before the increase, they would have late fees and all sorts of other fees added to their balance. So it looks like Chase would rather have people default on their payments rather than accept a payment and move on! Looks like starting Sept 1st, I'll be saving my monthly payment and defaulting on the loan! Kinda dumb on their part since credit cards are unsecured debt that will be written off in a bankruptcy filing!

JPMorgan Chase minimum payment increase

On june 25, 2009 I received notification from chase bank that my minimum payment would increase from 2% to 5% of the balance. This is outrageous. We the people need to run chase bank out of business. How do we do this? By closing our accounts; personal and business, never to return as customers again. This behavior raises questions like, if chase can do this so can any other bank? And when they try and tell you it will ruin your credit score? I say stick your credit score where the sun don't shine. Credit scores are weapons used by the bank. Credit is dead as we once new it anyway. If 850, 000 account holders default because they can't afford the minimum, who cares about credit scores. Don't file bankruptcy, just quit paying chase. Then they will have to hire more collectors in india to work the phones. We need to abolish banks and go back to cash only transactions. Take these greedy sleezy bank executive weasels down with the rest of us. They have already stolen our 401k retirement savings, our tax money we pay out and now our credit ratings we have worked a lifetime to establish. Let's begin the bank abolition now!

Write the Federal Trade Commision at their website and file a complaint against Chase. I was told, as many people were, that we were sent a letter in advance of this 250% increase. There were no letters sent, as there were no opt outs. Chase is clearly trying to skirt the new Credt Act that includes just these two requirements or they can be charged federally.

So complain long and loud. Let everyone know what JP Morgan Chase is doing. The company that took 25 Million of our tax payer dollars to be "bailed out".

Congressmen and Senators should also be notified.

I agree what they are doing is criminal. They are trying to hobble users that have had an excellent history of payment and low interest deals that they provided... My minimum payment was 2.5 times what it had been in the past. They tried to goat me into taking a deal where they can after 2011 jack up interest rates to some thing like 25% AND they keep dropping my limit, so it looks like I am at my limit...

We got hit too. Loan for school went up from $320 a month to $650... Loan for car went from $180 to $448. I will never trust Chase with another loan again as long as I live. When I called them to complain I was offered terms at 4% higher than I am paying now. Basically, they are using pressure tactics to get folks into higher interest rate loans. I'm not buying. We have had some huge medical bills lately and are selling our house. When the house sells, Chase gets paid off and I will NEVER do business with them again. The pirates. Taking advantage of people in this economy is immoral. Another former loyal Chase customer. Never late, always paid more than minimum. Now screwed.

I have never been late with a payment.. but I was slammed with double the minimum which I can not afford. They want you to miss a payment and get the fees and late charges. It should be illigal. Maybe it is - I wrote two letters and forwarded to Obama. Doing this to their loyal customers who have made payments on time and give them business is Horrible. Nothing like screwing over the working poor. (again)

JPMorgan Chase credit card gouging

Like others I have experienced outrageous gouging by Chase Bank. My credit card interest rate used to be 11 percent. By mistake, I went over my credit limit one month. I corrected the situation the next month, but Chase raised my interest rate to an outrageous 29.9 percent. I sent them a letter asking for a more reasonable rate. I got back a form letter, telling me "tough." I am closing my account, and I will never do business with Chase ever again. Beware of this bank.

I have been trying unsuccessfully to get the $39.99 late fee removed from my account and I have had similar experiences to everyone else whose complaints I've read. This is ridiculous. I will now write to Mr. Hanick at his home address, fully aware that I will not receive a response.
I'd like to hear about the experiences of those who tried writing to Kally Hanick at his home.
Thanks.

Not sure what you're complaining about. You have no proof what you paid for it, and you refuse a replacement? So they gave you 60% back for a used lamp...I think that's pretty good. Shop around, most stores won't even help without proof of purchase.

I have read the comments and complaints about Chase Bank. I am an ex employee from the credit card department. I only read one comment that I agree with. The one that says use cash. Most people forget that when you use your credit card you are agreeing to a contract that says you get to borrow money, and that like any other loan (that is what using your credit card is), there are conditions you must follow, or there are penalties. If there was a problem with your auto pay that is not the banks fault, if you select the wrong payment method online (it clearly shows which payment you have chosen online) that is not the banks fault. I used to take these calls, and supervise people that took these calls. When you have a credit card it costs the bank money to manage that account, and they are a for profit company. If you don't like the outcome of your error, you have a couple of real choices, live with it and pay the penalties, or pay off your account, and don't continue to use them. My advice is if you do borrow money in any form or fashion, read the small print to see all terms and conditions.

I paid my cc bill with chase bank 10 minutes late last month because the internet was down due to a storm and they hit me with a 25.00 late fee! For 10 minutes.. I wrote the time and trasaction number just for the reason that i knew it was close and when i called chase jp morgan or chase manhattan whatever name they are going by these days i was told to bad - period.. You paid after 5:00 so to bad for you they have cost themselves another customer - i actually would never ever take credit for chase - but wamu sold to them and my account was transfered.. They have on more then one occasion stolen my money and the customer service reps are rude and nasty - how is it that this bank is still in business? How can it be legal for them to charge me 25.00 late fee for 10 minutes - mr obama you have done nothing to protect the consumer.. This is outrageous.. Make some changes that matter.. Like stopping chase from stealing my money

When chase took over my washington mutual credit card, they started raising my apr immediately. My washington mutual rate was 8.9%, within a matter of a couple of months i am now at 27.9%. I called chase, was told the raise was due to environmental issues. I have never paid late, or gone over my limit and always send way more than the minimum payment. If i choose to opt out, they will close the account which will effect my credit. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. Talking to anyone at chase is a waste of time. I was informed my rate may go to 30%. It seems to me that since the banks created this mess, they need to take care of it. Not me! Chase bank is a bunch of thieves stealing from people who are trying to care of their own business. Stay away from chase bank!

JPMorgan Chase dishonest banking practices

I became a customer of Chase when WAMU was forced out of business. WAMU could have survived, I have been told and I am totally disgusted with the way Chase has taken over the business. I have four accounts with Chase, and after tomorrow I will have -0- accounts with Chase. I hope everyone closes their accounts with any of these large banks that President Obama bailed out. Bailing out poorly run institutions only allowed the poorly run institutions to continue abusing people and making very poor decisions that are geared to pay extremely large BONUSES to the bankers who do not contribute to society in any form. What exactly do bankers do to deserve such bonuses? While doctors have salaries that are controlled, Bankers have much higher salaries and they are not controlled. This is simply not okay.
I digress, the reason for this email has to do with the way Chase handles their customers. I had my Yahoo email acct compromised, and Blazing Words has been stealing from me ever since. Just last week Blazing Words put through another dishonest charge on another bank mind you - for $38.00 approx. Since Yahoo will not let me into my account due ot identity issues, I was forced to go to Identity Theft Protection. This flagged my account and Chase is freaking out that my cc might be fraudulently used. They have forced me to spend at least five hours of insulting telephone time speaking to numerous people in their fraud dept - I have practically given my entire life history to these jerks who will tell me all is well and that my cc is no longer being held up due to fear of fraudulent activity only to find they are lying and indeed my card is still under careful watch. But worse, of all the different fraud dept locations I have spoken to in the past week, I mostly talked with people in Manilla. This means Chase has taken personal information of their customers and they have moved that personal information to data banks in 3rd world countries. Does anyone else find this to be very wrong, very threatening potentially, and simply the most selfish act a corporation can do - giving 3rd world countries - thus, 3rd world people access to personal and private information of citizens in the US. This is unethical as can be.
I am glad Chase is so careful with this issue but they have taken it too far. How many hours does a person need to spend talking on the phone to convince them that the person is really who they say they are. Chase goes to incredible lengths to protect themselves and their ccards but they do not do the same for debit cards. Worse, I found some questionable charges on another acct I have with Chase and when I stated these were incorrect and I wished to have them removed, Chase could care less. They have sent me to one person and then another - its called the BIG RUNAROUND. While their responsibility should rest with their customer's safety and satisfaction, instead the remind me of a piggish older sibling who wants it all. By God, they act this way and they are determined to have it all.
Well, they can have it all but not from me. I am cancelling all accounts with Chase and I will move all my business to a local bank where the bankers know you, and you are treated with respect. I have had it with Chase and I hope all of you will consider doing this too. This is the most dishonest, unorganized bank I have ever dealt with. Chase sucks and so does Yahoo, Blazing Words, and all the rest of the greedy cheaters who simply want to make more for themselves no matter what is right or wrong.

Chase bank are a bunch of thieves who once they have your money, try to give you a hard time taking it out. Unfortunately, they took over WAMU and now, us who enjoyed on the most part dealing with a decent company and having decent customer service are forced to deal with a bunch of white collar crooks. I had a retirement fund set up with WAMU and chase took it over. then comes a surprise fee for $30 since it was below the a certain amount they wanted in their in order to wave the fee. You would think ok, a good choice then would be to take the money out and put it somewhere else but then, they charge you a 75 dollar closing fee plus a 30 dollar fee. From a financial institution that has a lot of customers unfortunately, you wouldn't expect this from. They are thieves. Penny wise and pound foolish. They now have one very very pissed off customer who for that fee they charges, will probably have to pay double or more to answer all the complaints i will lodge with different agencies and possibly the media. Not only that, in their stupidity, little do they realize that this pissed off customer will warn lots of other potential customers about banking with them. If you all decide to do the same thing, they will lose a lot of investments, accounts etc all because they decide to be penny wise and pound foolish.
As customers, its not our fault that they decided to make bad housing loans. We do not have to pay for their screw ups.
If you were screwed by them too, tell all your friends, post to internet boards, post to facebook, file a complaint with the better business bureau, the federal trade commision, with http://www.helpwithmybank.gov/, Local media, etc. Even if its only a little amount of money they decide to charge you, if you do nothing, they win and will charge you more and charge others more as time goes on. We have to show them that it doesn't pay to be thieves and if they stay dishonest, they will ultimately lose.
Chase Sucks!

I have been with WaMu for years and now that Chase changed over they took $204.00 out of my account written on my statment "transfered to another Misc acct" I was pissed off... I had no idea what this was for, why it was transfered and I was about to go negative in that account because of the unauthorized transfer... I called and was transfered 13 times, hung up on twice due to they were transfering me to someone else to better assist me... what the heck? Long story short the live people that I did speak too all had attitudes, and if I know my attitudes they were women with the "black attitude" ghetto... I can say this.. I'm black... who happens to speak without knowing my color unlike some people. This is very unprofessional for Chase you would think oh, wait, , , their a southern based company. They told me that I had to prove that I did not owe them this money while they could not tell me why this money was transfered or to where the money was transfered after two days and countless hours of the runaround on the phone... the money was transfered to Chase themselves. They claim that I owe them this money... How, , , I'm with WaMu. Now I have to prove to them. They said they do not have to do anything to prove to me that this is true. I have to prove to them what... that you all stole my money.. what the heck .. yeah obama NOT... this bank is a joke and I have closed all of my accounts. I'm still out 204.00... it's been over a week and nothing in the mail showing me how I owe them... You all be very aware of where your money is going... cause Chase acts like they own you.

JPMorgan Chase trespassing on sioux trust property

This complaint tops all the complaints submitted by the sufferers of this JP Morgan Chase family of business. Chase Home Finance, LLC is evicting an elderly Native American couple in their 70's from their "dream house" advocated by this conglomerate upon their loan. Their June 4, 2009 "Complaint in Conviction" to be heard July 8th states "Plaintiff is a foreign corporation authorized to transact business in the State of North Dakota..defendant is resident of Sioux County, city of Fort Yates located on the Standing Rock Sioux Indian Reservation. A forclosure action was commenced by Chase Home Finance against defendants in Sioux Tribal Court on October 20, 2006..forclosure sales was held September 27, 2007 and an Order Confirming Sale of Foreclosure entered by Court February 4, 2008. Tribal Court issued its Order to Bureau of Indian Affairs directing BIA to issue Warranty Deed...BIA issed a Warranty Deed to Plaintiff and Plaintiff is rightful owner of the property described...defendant is trespassing and has no legal right to the property..." Defendant is to be evicted from the premises, pay all costs of defense and damages from Defendant's possession of the premises as well as costs and reasonable attorney's fees and such other relief as the Court deems just and equitable. Oh hum. So now the scandalous JP Morgan (was fined millions of $$ in their outright part of the ERON scandal) is going after federal trust property? And against the Great Sioux Nation that is recognized by Congress to be a Sovereign Nation? Of course the members of this sovereign nation appear to be asleep as they are not in the forefront as we the Lakota/DAkota Advocates for Human & Civil Rights, Inc. are. We have the fighting spirit of Crazy Horse and Gall--the Colon Powell and the Great General who victored over the Desert Storm War several years ago. Let us see what happens in this case.

SINCE AUGUST OF 2009 I HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTING TO REDUCE MY MORTGAGE INTEREST AND PAYMENTS. SEPTEMBER/2009 I ENTERED AN AGREEMENT WHICH CHASE CALLED THE PRIMARY STEPS FOR A LOAN MOD, CALLING IT A FORE BEARANCE PLAN AND IF I MAINTAINED MY PAYMENTS FOR THREE MONTHS CHASE WOULD ENTER A LOAN MODIFICATION AGREEMENT WITH ME. AFTER PAYING EIGHT MONTH'S PAYMENTS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE FOREBEARANCE PLAN (ONLY THREE WERE NEEDED ACCORDING THE PLAN) I CONTINUALLY CALLED CHASE ASKING WHY THEY DID NOT COMPLY, AND BY THE WAY I HAVE A TOTAL OF EIGHTEEN MONTHS OF WESTERN UNION QUICK COLLECT PAY RECEIPTS TO BACK UP MY SIDE. I HAVE NAMES AND DATES OF CONTACTS THAT I SPOKE TO AT CHASE. AFTER NINE MONTH'S CHASE AGREED TO ENTER A LOAN MOD. I THOUGHT HALLELULAH AND ON APRIL 28, 2010 I RECEIVED THE ACTUAL MODIFICATION BY FEDEX. I SIGNED THE AGREEMENT, BUT CHASE'S LINES OF SIGS WERE LEFT BLANK TO BE SIGNED AFTER THEY SAID THEY NEEDED TO MAKE SURE ALL MONEYS WERE CORRECT. NOW REMEMBER I ORIGINALLY WAS ONLY THREE MONTHS BEHIND OF PAYMENTS. I RETURNED THE AGREEMENT BY FEDEX THE NEXT DAY IN THE PROVIDED PACKAGE LETTER, BUT I ALSO INCLUDED A LETTER TO ASK IF AND WHY NOT THE NINE MONTHS OF FOREBEARANCE PLAN PAYMENTS HAD NOT BEEN DEDUCTED WITHIN THE AGREEMENT. I AGAIN ON THE FIRST OF EACH MONTH USING WESTERN UNION QUICK COLLECT WITH THE NEW PAYMENTS WHICH WERE ALMOST $100 MORE THAN THE FIRST PLAN. CHASE FIRST CLAIMED TO HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE SIGNED AGREEMENT, BUT I KEPT THE TRACKING NUMBER AND FOUND THAT THE PACKAGE WAS ACTUALLY RECEIVED THREE DAYS LATER ON APRIL 30, 2010. SINCE THEN I HAVE FAITHFULLY CALLED AND KEPT NAMES AND NUMBERS OF AND TO WHOM I HAVE TALKED TO. NOW THE TIME FOR A THIRD OR FOURTH AGREEMENT ON JUNE 10, 2011, HAS ARRIVED FOR ME TO AGAIN SIGN AND RETURN, BUT AGAIN THERE IS NO ACCOUNTING OF THE PAYMENTS THAT I PAID USING WESTERN UNION SINCE SEPTEMBER 2009 UNTIL NOW JUNE 2011 FOR A TOTAL OF EIGHTEEN MONTHS THAT I PAID ON THE FIRST OF EACH MONTH AS SIGNED AND AGREED UPON. ON AUGUST 2009 THE TOTAL REMAINING MORTGAGE WAS $143, 000.00. AS THE NEW LOAN MOD STATES THE INTEREST ORIGINALLY OF 7.5% IS TO BE REDUCED TO 4.5%, WITH LATE FEES AND OTHER FEES OF LATE PAYMANTS TO BE FORGIVEN. THE NEW MORTGAGE WILL BE AGAIN A 30 YEAR FIXED LOAN, BUT THE NEW BALANCE IS NOT $143, 000.00. THE NEW AMOUNT IS $163, 000 TO BE PAID FOR 30 YEARS AT 4.5% FIXED INTEREST. NOW AGAIN, WHAT, WHERE, AND WHY ARE 19 MONTHS OF PAYMENTS NOT ACCOUNTED FOR WHICH ACTUALLY TOTAL $17, 876 .00. WHAT THE HELL AM I TO DO AND WHO CAN HELP ME

JPMorgan Chase chase creates pandemic with min payment increase

Chase has just started a new pandemic for 850, 000 cardholders, myself included. Starting aug 1st minimum payments will increase from 2% to 5%. This more than doubles the cardholders monthly payment and there is no opt-out offered. Even though chase testified before congress that they do offer opt-out options... Liars... This "chase 2009 pandemic" is going to reach further than the 850, 000 cardholders, more homeless, bankruptcy, crime and yes even suicide. We all pay for these things. These accounts were only targeted because of low fixed rates that chase could not change unless the cardholder defaulted which none of the 850, 000 holders did. Mine is 4.99. I personally feel that is a profitable rate. I know I can't get that kind of return anywhere. Right now I am ashamed to know that we let these kind of corporations do buisness in the usa!

So right about Chase, My Min Payment went up 500 a month from 320 to 830. I have a fixed 4.5% interest rate and have never missed or been late on a payment. I just can't do 500 more now so what's next. Triple digit interest and bankruptcy.

For the person who thinks those of us affected by Chases's actions were not diligent there are sorely misinformed. Chase did the same to me. I had a 4.99% rate and never, repeat never missed payments. They notched down my credit limit so my balance would seem to be too high. This account manipulation to meet a given parameter is called predatory lending. I have over 52 pages of communication from Chase asking them for the details backing their decision and it is very comical reading. Needless to say - they have yet to answer my request for the details behind their decision. They changed the terms on our low rate cards with the very hope we will default and be subject to a higher interest rate. Remember, it is all about profit and greed.

Yes, Chase scammed me a couple of years ago. They raised my rate on 2 different cards from 7.99 to 23.99%. I wrote them a letter explaining that I was unemployeed, never over my limit and never late. They stated that both cards were late the prior month, even though I mailed the payments in on the day I received the bill (two weeks before the due date). I heard from several other people that this had also happened to them. I told Chase that if they raised my interest rate to 3 times the original interest rate that I would no longer be able to make even the minimum on these cards. They basically told me "too bad, so sad". After struggling for 5 months to keep the payments up (they more than doubled the minimum payment), I gave up. When they started calling for the payment, I just told them that I give up. If they can't make the payments affordable for me, then there is no point in making payments on cards where the balance INCREASES every month when you are not even using the cards. These accounts have been bouncing from one collection agency to another for about 3 years. The settlement offer just keeps getting better. Right now it is about half of what I owed when I stopped paying the bills. It is really stupid that Chase just would not work with me in the first place. No body wins in this situation. It makes me sad that we bailed out ###s like Chase.
