JPMorgan Chase overcharged

Chase needs to send a letter to RBS so that RBS can release the $500 that was misdirected to them. I use Chase for my online banking and paying all of my bills. Before sending the payments there is a screen asking if the information is correct. Looking at the account numbers, it seemed fine. After clicking to confirm it is right, the payee was changed on one of the payments. I contacted RBS about refunding the $500 payment and there was something unusual so they need Chase to send them a letter explaining the computer error. After contacting Chase multiple times, they refuse to accept that their servers could have made an error and will not send the letter, blaming me for the problem. My next step is contacting the New York States Attorney General's Office.

Because of the misdirected payment, I was given a $39 late fee by the company that should have received the payment which was waived. However, they can not waive the interest that will be added, over $400, for the one year introductory. Since this is the fault of Chase bank for not sending a letter, I will be expecting them to refund that amount as well.

JPMorgan Chase illegal withdrawl of funds

I noticed on 3/30/09 that almost $500 had been deducted from my Credit Union Savings account by Chase Auto. I used to have an account with them and had paid off my loan in December 08. My account was closed at that time. When I contacted them, they told me it was my fault and that it was my responsibility to cancel my Chase online payment. Nowhere was it mentioned I needed to go in and close it once my account was paid off. Long story short, both customer service supervisors blamed me for the error and told me I needed to fax them a copy of the transaction showing the money had been taken from my account. After doing so, Anthony told me I would receive an overnight check. I didn't receive the check. I called back and spoke with Francis, she was cold and uncaring and really didn't care about the issue. All she could do is blame me over and over again. They took my rent out of my account, me and my boys will end up on the street if I do not get the money back, she
didn't express concern. She just told me it would take a minimum of three working days to research the issue and then once identified as having the funds deducted I would be reimbursed. In other words, my rent could be late by as much as twelve days. That won't work. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DOING BUSINESS WITH CHASE AUTO.

I had to self reposess a car financed through Chase Bank, they sold the car at auction leaving a balance I owe of $6500. They contacted me for the money I told them my wife was laid off and we were struggling financially but I can try to make low monthly payments until things are better, they said no all money up front. They kept calling and calling and calling so I ignored them as it was no use to hash over same old thing. Anyway my elderly mother 83 yrs old had a savings account with Chase in which she put me on when she was having surgery and being treated for Cancer. They took all of her savings and the poor woman is suffering some serious problems as this is money she used for medication and to pay Dr. Bills. I have not used her account ever and forgot I was even on there, but still Chase bank, a Matthew DeFrance with Chase Auto National Recovery Center in Phoenix Arizona stated when I told him it was my mothers account he said he knows and he doesn't care. Was I pissed, yes, enough to do the unthinkable. What callous disregard these slimballs have..let them come after me, put a lien on my home, sue me but don't injure my mother. I have been taking care of my mother for 3 years and my home and wife are in another state, I have been shuffling between two states to take care of two families. This is for those that don't think a Bank can do this, they can and will and do..is it ethical or morally right, no, legal yes, but what does that mean, if it's legal it can become illegal. I don't have the option to go to the government and ask for a bailout like they do with our taxpayer dollars, do you think Uncle Sam would give me money to bail me out of debt..lol..probably lock me up. Anyway if you would like to talk to Matthew DeFrance call him at [protected] Ext. 3930 and ask him why he is a morally defunct individual.

JPMorgan Chase horrible customer service

I had a checking and savings account with WaMu since 2004 with on-line bill pay and direct deposit from my employer. On 03/24/2009 I attempted to use my WaMu Debit card and my purchase was declined. Knowing I just got pain on 03/24/2009, I contacted WaMu/Chase Bank to address the issue of my card being declined for a purchase, when I was shocked and floored to find out that my direct deposit had been returned to my employer and my account was scheduled for closure on 04/06/2009 and no purchase or debits woulds be honored from 03/24/09 until the account was closed.

I was transferred to the Risk Operations Department when I was told that my account had been flagged due to my e-mail address, thus the reason for Chase to exercise the right to close my account without notification. I informed the Risk operations Customer Service Operatior that I have been a valued customer for over 4 years and that I had authomatic bills coming through as well within the next day or so, based on my pay dates. The customer service rep stated "thats not my problem".

I requested to speak with a supervisor or an investigator when I was told I was speaking with the supervisor and my concerns could not be elevated to a higher level. I was told that there was no way to overturn the decision to close the account. When I became upset and demanded another representitive, I was hung up on. I called back and spoke with another represenitive and was told again that the issues could not be resoloved and there was no supervisor to speak with.

I was really floored when I went to my local branch and the branc manager contacted the Risk Operations Department and was told that my account was closed due to my e-mail address associated with fraud. The branch manager asked what kind of fraud and was told that they did not know, that my account was flagged in their system and the computer system automaticlly closed the account and it could not be overturned. The branc manager asked was this a WaMu Policy or a Chase Policy because she had never heard of such a reason, and she was told that they have the right to close an account without notice and to refer to Chase Policy and Procedures. The Risk Operations did not have the policy in writing and refused to provide information to the Bank Branch.

As of 03/31/2009, I continue to have issues due to returned payments, checks and automatic debits, now causing me to pay fee in excess of over $500.00 due to late fees and returned payment fees, in addition to not having a bank account for my direct deposit or to pay my bills.

There needs to be action taken against Chase Bank ASAP and I will be the voice my frustration and concerns.

Interestingly, the ONE time I was offered to have a fee waived by a Chase representative was today – when I was asking about how to finally close out my account. I have let it run down and changed all my bill pays, but there is one I missed, my Geico car insurance. It went through, I overdrew my account, and was assessed a $35 fee. On the phone, the rep comped me this fee. I had to laugh, since I have never ever been offered that before. Too little, too late.

here is an account of the laughable experience I had with trying to deposit checks. In and of itself, not a big deal - but indicative of how they deal with their customers. I am no longer a Chase customer as a result.

September 2009

I got married this year and received checks from family in Canada. Relatives wrote their checks from Canadian accounts but the checks are U.S. Dollars. First road bump - the ATM at my local Chase branch won’t take them and says to speak with a teller. Fair enough.

I first go to the customer service person to make sure there isn’t a problem with the check (since the ATM didn’t specify why it was rejecting it). He assures me the check is fine and just to go to the window to deposit it. He doesn’t mention fees even though he sees (and I specifically point out) that it is a check from another country but in U.S. dollars.

The teller starts to process my check. About a third of the way through, she says there may be a fee for processing.

I ask how much. Amazingly she isn’t able to tell me because she doesn’t know the amount of the fee. She has a guess of $45. This is on a $200 check.

I offer to sit and wait while she finds out, and then I can decide if I’ll deposit it. She says she can’t find out how much – she isn’t even sure when in the process the fee gets levied. The most I can find out from her is that the fee will be decided and assessed at some point in the future, and it won’t be on-site in the branch.

I don’t want to pay a potentially 25% fee, and so I don’t deposit the check in my Chase account. I go to TD Bank, where my husband and I have a saving account, and deposit it, no problem, no questions asked. I also deposit the three other checks I received from Canadian friends and relatives into that same account.

JPMorgan Chase scam charges

I had a Chase Credit Card since 1994 (15 years!) always paid on time and most of the time paid off my balance monthly.
In July of 2008, I paid my balance in full and closed my account (had another card and felt I didn't need 2).

Today! March 2009! I get a call from them saying I had a "residual finance" balance with LATE charges added in, totaling $322, and if I did not pay in 2 days they were submitting me to a collection agency!

They said since I had signed up for "paperless" statements, they had emailed me - but never sent a letter or notice or anything to my home, even though they had my current address.
After speaking with a manager and trying to get the charges waived based on my 15 years of good history with them - they refused to do it and still threatened to send me to collections.
I reluctantly paid. Then the best part... they said I would be getting ANOTHER BILL for 20 days of March not included in the $322!

I can not believe that institutions get away with this. They are clearly finding loopholes in order to trick people into charges.

JPMorgan Chase rip off

I Have had a credit card with Chase for about three years, not by choice but because it is almost impossible to pay it off thanks to their juggling the figures.
I lost my house in Hurricane Ike complete and everything in it. I called Chase to get some help and they said don't be late on any payments because I signed a contract and they were going to hold me to it. I had just bought a computer in August through Chase and lost it in September one month later. They said to bad, pay up.
I try to pay my bills on time but some times it is impossible when you are displaced from your home. On several occasions I called them to get a payment in over the phone so it wouldn't be late and that was an extra charge. I recently tried to pay off a 958.27 dollar balance and my wife called to make the payoff. It was an automated machine that did the transaction. Or maybe I should say should have made it. Thinking the payoff was completed I forgot about it. Then I received a bill in the mail that said the payment had been rejected and there is a Return payment and a late fee. Then there is a refund fee of 9.95 and a $14.00 FEE TO TAKE IT OUT OF MY ACCOUNT to bring the balance to 0. This brings the new balance to $1004.71. About a total of $50. rip off fee all because their automated machine didn't get the complete account number in the first place. I told them (Don't ever send me anything from Chase again).

I guess you could call me a sore loser.

Chase credit cards. I called during Christmas to see if I had money for one last gift. I did, then ten days later they add service charges charged me for over the limit. I paid that, then even though I have never been over the limit or late raised my interest rate to 27.99%.
There customer service was in India and very rude.
Chase is a filthy company with no morals or values.
We bail them out and we get treated terrible.
Chase's greed is disgusting, I hope they get there rewards back to them. They screw hard working people for there selfish greed. Hell should dedicate a special place for them.

All the banks do that - otherwise how else can those suckers make money. They make money on those who are in need the most. Cut your credit card in 10 thousand pieces and use debit - that's the only way not to get into the vicious circle!

JPMorgan Chase mishandling of funds / payments

A year ago I found that Chase HF had been placing my escrow account monies in an account with the wrong parcel number.
They had done this for three years. I was presented with an escrow bill and asked to pay it immediately. I of course complained, opened an inquiry and have just about resolved my issue. Of course, my monthly mortgage has gone up, as I have to repay the escrow surplus money that was sent to me by law. I have done all the follow up and spent close to 17 hours over the 10 months explaining and making payment arrangements.
Does anybody know if there is a class action against this company for anything similar to my issue?

Why am I not surprised? In the county where I live, the land record office indexes deeds, mortgages, liens, etc. affecting property ownership using the Property Tax ID number of the property (to avoid confusion from the many streets throughout the county with similar or identical names.) When Chase submitted my home equity loan documents to be recorded, they provided the record office with a totally incorrect Tax ID number, so that my loan wound up being recorded as a lien against someone else's property located 15-20 miles away in a different community. The mistake wasn't discovered until several years later after the loan was paid off and the cancellation documents had been recorded (also against the other person's property). All I can say is Thank God the loan didn't require an escrow account! If I hadn't been able to pay my own property taxes directly to the Town rather than through Chase, I would have been facing a tax lien foreclosure while some stranger's taxes would have been fully paid from my escrow account courtesy of Chase.

Were in the same boat here. We have an escrow account that is paid every month, and last year I made 13 regular house payments. Last month we got a new amortization schedule that said we were behind in our escrow account and that it would take us $1300 to get it current. I pulled all of my statements from last year and it shows 13 escrow payment. On Chases statement it only shows 9. I only have to wonder about the money and where it is going.

JPMorgan Chase unethical practices

Well, here it goes... I always pay my accounts on line and check them every 2 weeks to make sure they are up to date. Chase Bank website however stated that no payment was due, even though I had an outstanding balance. I did make a payment every 2 weeks however and it showed that my payments were being accepted as my balance was being reduced online, then one day I am at a dept store and my credit card gets declined (now I know I have enough to purchase what I need as I had just been online and checked it 30 minutes b4 I left for the dept store) so I get back and call them. They say I had not made a payment since 6 months ago (which is when I completely paid it off) well I recently used it a month ago... well seems that since I started paying on it this last time thier computer took too long to process the 1st payment making it a day late.. no notification online that I had made a late payment no nothing... which is why they told me that online it said no payment due because I had a late payment fee to pay! thanks for letting someone know who has missed NO payments for over 10yrs... way to go Chase Bank...oh yeah and I keep track of my credit score and of course being so recent it was not on my credit yet thankfully.

My credit card account was with WaMu (Washington Mutual) which now has been taken over by CHASE BANK USA. What happened honestly in my case is that I, a disabled senior became ill and before my husband drove me to the ER, I paid some of our bills that would be due at the 1st of the month and made a payment to WaMu, but apparently didn't press the enter key. I didn't want my husband to have to worry about anything in case I was admitted, which I was. 2 weeks later I looked up my account online to find that my payment was not credited. I called them immediately and told them (CHASE) what had happened to me and the fact that I have had my credit card with WaMu for several years, never been late, pay more than the min due, have a good FICO score and was concerned they would report this to the credit bureaus. I made a payment over the phone. The next thing, I receive my statement from which is now CHASE and they have put my APR at 27.24% (default rate) up from 11.94% which it was with Wamu. The customer rep was cold as ice...I was in tears...it didn't matter! I was told the following, " You now have to establish a good relationship with CHASE, it may take 1-2-3-4 yrs or more, IF AT ALL. I have written to my State Senators, The Attorney General etc. The lesson I have learned from this is to pay off the credit cards...may take time but I will do it...In addition to the "Bail Out", they are finding way's to take more money out of our pockets..Be watchful of your credit card statements and be active when you need to be..Ck out also /link removed/ and you can see all the complaints against CHASE. I understand from a radio program this am that there is a law firm in New York that is planning on filing a class action suit against them. I live in Nevada. If there is anyone from New York that perhaps see's an article re this in your newspaper and it names the law firm, please let me know.

I have been with Wamu for some 20 years. Chase takes over, and decides to hold all my clients checks, and in these economic times this is a death sentence for a business such as mine. They not only receive 33.00 for bouncing my employee checks though the money is there, being "Held", they created for the first time in my business upsets and employee worries. This bank is CRIMINAL with a capitol C, and steer clear and find a bank like WAMU use to be. These people are the worst in their false policies, just so they can collect fees. They should be put in jail. Run, don't walk, to a new bank. I am meeting tomorrow with my new bank.

I work, Pay my taxes and when time for a refund I was sent a check through New york state, Seeing that the check was issued by Chase thought it would be no problem to go there and get the cash right away . To my surprise chase told me that I have to have an account with them to get my check that I worked all year and paid my taxes with. I dont understand this practice by banks. And the next Question is why is it that after paying my hard earned taxes I have to have an account too isnt paying my taxes enough? I dont want an account with chase esspecially because of their fees they impliment and the way they do business I thought this was a free Society but apparently chase chooses to make it not so . I thought only in a communist society you wouldnt have the choice of things like banks and other stuff like that from the way thing are going I would think soon chase is going to right out own us at this pace. And this is not the last place this letter will end up.

JPMorgan Chase incompetence

I have 3 credit cards with Chase. Somehow, they managed to get my address slightly different on each account - either leaving off the apt #, or a typo, or doubling the some part of the address. When one of my statements was "returned to sender" due to their mistake in leaving off the apt #, I was charged a late fee & a finance charge. The customer service rep I spoke with said the finance charge is not reversible, due to the agreement in the contract, and this would go on my credit report. When I asked to speak with a supervisor-manager, he stated that he was a "senior advisor", and that I would need to take this up with the post office. I told him he could check my history to see I have a long-term & impeccable credit history with Chase, and that I couldn't believe I was being penalized for their mistake. After I got off the phone, I found one of my statements from a few months earlier that did indeed have the correct address, even though my current statement did not. Chase had recently changed the font & format of their cc statements & somehow my apt # was now being left off of the statements. I called back & asked to speak to a manager. She reversed the charges & removed any report to my credit history. When I told her the "senior advisor" said there was nothing he could do, she said senior supervisors are not managers & are limited in what they could do.

Duane, the senior advisor in Columbus, Ohio, that I had originally spoke with, implied that he was a manager & would not transfer me to a manager when I requested.
Due to mistakes & incompetence from Chase reps, I wasted a lot of time on the phone & was told it was my fault that I did not receive & pay my statement.
I've heard of credit card companies doing deceptive things to collect on finance charges, perhaps this is one of them.

Yep. They are setting you up for an interest increase. Mine went from 11% to 30%. Be sure and thank your local congressman for bailing these guys out with your tax money to the tune of $25 billion.

Deceptive is right, they are crooks and provide no customer service. I am so sorry I used their card, I should have stuck with Citibank and American Express. I was using a Chase/United credit card to earn additional airmiles. United is the only airlines that flies out of our small airport and it seemed like a good idea at the time. I pay most of my bills online and have overpaid accounts in the past. It has never been a problem either the company contacted me or mailed a check back to me. I made the mistake of putting an extra zero on my 500 payment to Chase, two months later I still had a balance of PLUS $5, 000.00. They gave me some crap about the patriot act and having to investigate the source of the funds. It was a direct payment from my bank account. After the second billing statement with the over $5, 000.00 plus balance I used a Chase check and paid my American Express the $5, 000.00 I owen them. The next month I got my Chase bill with a $150.00 balance transfer fee charged to my account. I have made several attempts to get a credit explaining that I did not borrow money, it was my money they refused to refund. Four letter and several calls and I have not received a credit. I will file a complaint with the BBB but do not expect them to issue a credit.

JPMorgan Chase closed off all accounts of a loyal customer

I have been a long time loyal customer of wamu for years. Now that case has taken over, all 3 of my accounts were suddenly closed. And they didn't even have the courtesy to tell me! I had a personal account, a savings, and a business account. Chase is dirty! They are extremely rude!

JPMorgan Chase chase bank

Will someone please see my daughter as a person & not just an account holder or number?!

Meet victoria, my middle daughter. Hard working full-time college student who also holds down a part-time job. Her day starts at 5am monday thru saturday. She drives from our home in south fort worth to le cordon bleu in north dallas every morning to be at school at 7am. She leaves home at 545am to be on time for her 7am class. Then after class, she goes to work at the cooper center, apx a mile or so from school in n dallas and works until after 10pm. Drives home. Usually home bet 11:30p-12am. Makes sure uniform ready for next day, eat, go to bed & up again at 5am & does it all again. Never complains. Focused on career. Sunday attends church & pays tithes. All the money she has in the world is what she makes at her part-time job, which is direct deposit into her chase checking account, and with this she pays her car payment, have gas money & sometimes entertainment.
Some would say she is shy. She is not. She does not do a lot of idle talk. When she talks, it is of substance. She is focused. She has one of the sweetest personalities anyone could have. Never causes any trouble. She is a christian, loves the lord. And loves and respect others and her family. Very, very close to her sisters nancy and jayme. She does not deserve the treatment she has been getting from chase.
Since victoria lived from check to check, she was looking forward to her income tax refund of $900 dollars. She knew it should hit her checking account around the 17th.
It did and when she called to check her account it stated a balance of $912. Then a couple of days later she called & was told over $600 negative! Imagine her shock!
She called me hysterical. She said when she called the bank, she was told that when a person has more than 1 account, chase has the right to move money from one account to the other. She said hysterically, & ldquo; what are they talking about? I have only 1 account. !’.
And that’s when it hit me. My name, is on victoria’s account and her sister nancy’s account. We did not know their accounts were connected in anyway. They worked completely independent of each other.
You see, nancy & victoria were students at north texas univ. Denton texas. Bank one was the bank on campus. Nancy attended first and we open a account for her & put my name on it. Then when victoria attended, we open an account for her & put my name on it also. This way I could conduct business for them while in fort worth.
When they returned home it never occurred to us that we needed to remove my name from their accounts. And it was convenient when they needed me to run to bank for them.
Now, meet nancy. I won’t go into too many details about nancy because this letter is really for victoria’s concern. But, you have to see how it all connects.

Nancy worked for hampton inn at alliance for over 5 years. She was assistant general manager. To make a long story short, the hotel changed hands. When the new owner took over on january 9th, they brought their own management team in & fired nancy and others. Nancy knew she had one more check coming that would hold her a while. Her check was direct deposit into her chase account also. It appeared on the correct day. However, a few days later, she checked her account and it said over $600 negative. Her previous boss, patrick cascio did not honor his employees last check and closed out his account before they could cash their last checks. Of course nancy was very upset, but she went into a local chase on ramey av in fort worth & set down with a bank rep & explained what had taken place. They noted her records and of course explained that within so many days an account had to be brought back into good standing. She understood.
Then on feb. 17th when victoria’s $900 income tax was deposit, chase stole her money from her account and applied it to nancy’s account which then put victoria’ s account in the negative and nancy’s at apx $47 negative. Both girls were very upset. Nancy was upset for victoria, not herself. Both accounts are now in negative status. This did not benefit chase in anyway. It only caused victoria grief. None of this was her fault. Her money should not have been taken.
I went to the downtown chase and talk with angela turner and she explained the policy to me. I understood what she was saying. However, just because chase have the legal right, does not make it right. Victoria works hard. She does not miss school, she does not miss work or church. She deserves better. This is wrong, this is a travesty! Angela explained that her branch did not have right to handle either account since one was established in denton and one in everman. She referred me to shannon thomas at the everman branch. Again, shannon explained that it was not a bank error. I told her that I never said that the bank make an error. I stated it was wrong for them to do what they did. To just take victoria’s money & apply it to nancy’s account, leaving victoria penniless, was not right.
Why did they wait for the $900 dollars? Why didn’t they do this on one of her direct deposit work checks? Then we would have known to get me off one of the accounts.
Shannon kept telling me that the $900 could not be reversed. But, someone gave the order to take it & someone can give the order to put it back!
There is more. That night another $210 fees would hit victoria’s account that night due to purchases she had made when she thought she had cash. Which now put her at $867 negative!
There is more. Victoria’ payroll check was due to deposit on the 20th of february. We could not stop it. So now, not only does chase get to legally steal her $900 income tax but now they get to steal & take advantage of her direct deposit. So now her account is $443.40 negative. Chase legally stole over $1300 from a hard working, fulltime student.
This is wrong and I am tired of shannon telling me it was legal because my name was on both accounts. Put yourself in victoria place. Or see this happening to one of your children. This should not happen to anybody. Regardless if they feel it is legal.
This is why the banking industry is in the shape it is in now. The banking industry does not see people as people. They see people as numbers and money.
My daughter is a person and should be treated as a person. Is there not one person in chase that have a heart or concern about an innocent person. Victoria had nothing to do with nancy’s boss skipping out on them. Victoria did not even know their accounts were connected in any way. This is not fair. Chase needs to do what is right & put back victoria’s hard earned money. Just because they have the legal right does not mean it should be done exactly like this. Sometime, situations dictate different.
Shannon had to nerve to tell me that nancy needed to pay victoria the money since it went into nancy’s account. This was such a stupid statement it did not deserve a reply. Nancy did not move $900 from her sisters account to her account. Chase did. And nancy would never hurt her sister this way. Her statement let me know what she really thought about us. She said she would look at the accounts and call me.
On the morning of feb 20th shannon called me with what she thought was exciting news. She at refunded some fees to nancy’s account and now her account as $113.10. I informed her this was not my concern. It does not make nancy feel better when her sister is hurting. Shannon continued to inform me that the $900 would not be reversed. She also stated that victoria’s account was not established at her branch and she would find what branch it was established and call me back.
Nancy and I went to everman chase and withdrew $110 from nancy’s account to give to victoria.
Does chase care about college students? Do they care about the people the accounts represent. Sometimes a situation has to be handled different than the norm. This is one of those times. It is not going to break chase to give victoria back her money. But it will restore victoria faith in chase, and in mankind. She is now penniless due to what chase did. So far, no one seems to care. It is all about what they have the legal right to do.
Will someone please see my daughter as a person and not just a number or account holder. Her name is victoria horne, college student, hard worker.

You know Chase is not the greatest bank in the world about "people". i have banked with them for MANY years. A personal note to explain the situation. I, like many Americans, suffer from Chron's disease and we have to make darn sure we know where every rest room is. So I go to the Chase on 4th and Throckmorton to do some banking business. When i get there, my Crohn's flairs up and I ask where their rest rooms are. I was told "Downstair but you have to have a code so you need to go back out to one of the restaurants." I said "Look I'm here to do banking but I need a rest room now I have Chron's !" Luckily for me, a bike security officer happened to walk into the bank and the bldg receptionist had him escort me to the basement and open the rest room for me. He waited outside until I exited the rest room and escorted me back upstairs. I then conducted my banking business and left.
See, with Chase people aren't people. They are money to be used to make Chase big profits on Wall Street and Real Estate, etc
They can't even provide their customers with a rest room !
So go luck getting them to do right by your daughters' account !

Contact a lawyer immediately and have them review your daughters contract with Chase bank. Do not waste any more of your time or your daughter's time trying to work this out directly with the bank. Contact a lawyer and have them confirm legally if you are able to reverse what has been done to her accounts and then close down all related accounts with Chase and take your business elsewhere. They are a bank and they do not care about you as a person. That will not change. Find a new bank and review the checking account contract before anyone signs up or agrees. Never become a member of a bank that will move money around in your accounts without first getting written consent from you. That is a sign that the bank is shady. Good luck.

JPMorgan Chase penalized for early payment

On December 10th my 70 year old mother had to go in for knee surgery. She is the type of woman who always has paid her bills early and always has paid more than the minimum amount required. She has excellent credit. On December 9th she went into Chase bank in Rochester NY to pay her credit card bill early (before she had received her statement for her January). She told the teller that she wanted to pay her credit card bill early because she was having surgery and knew she would be out of it for the month of January. She asked the teller if it would be okay to pay her January bill early. The teller at Chase bank told her it would be fine, so my mother gave her one of her old statement with her credit card bank account number so the teller could put her payment in for January so that she did not have to worry about it while she was recovering from her surgery.

At the end of January she received her billing statement with a very high minimum payment due saying that she was past due on her January payment. My mother called Chase bank customer service immediately and explained to the Customer service rep that she made her January payment on December 9th because she had knee surgery on December 10th and she knew she would be out of it so she went to the bank and paid early.
The woman Customer Service rep at Chase bank said "Well you didn't call use to tell us you were doing this", my mother explained that she went directly to Chase bank and spoke with the teller and she told her she could pay for her January payment early and that it was fine.
The customer service representative said "You are supposed to call us, you can't just go to the bank and pay early without calling us to let us know".

I can't imagine why my 70 year old mother would do something so CRAZY as to go to the bank the credit card is issued from, ask an employee who works for the company that the credit card is issued from if it's okay to pay early and actually believe the employee who works for that bank is giving her the correct information when telling her that it is fine.

Are you following me so far? She went to the bank to pay her January 2009 payment early (In December of 2008), was told that was fine by a Chase bank employee at the bank and she made the payment thinking she had paid her bill early for January.

After going around in circles on the phone with the Customer Service representative, she was kind enough to understand what had happend and told my mother in the future she will need to call the credit card company to let them know if she plans on paying early, my mother agreed that she would and told her she didn't know she had to do that, seeing as the CHASE employee at the bank told her something different.

She told my mother she could just send in the minimum payment for her February payment and to ignore the extra amount for it being considered a late payment. My mother said I would like to pay extra as I do every month. The Customer Service rep said that's fine, but not necessary. The Customer Service rep said she would keep the fixed interest rate where is was when she signed up for the card. She even sent my mother a letter stating that she took care of the issue and that is was fully resolved.

My mother thought that was the end of this ordeal.
Today 2-21-09 the new statement came for the March payment. To my mothers surprise Chase bank wanted several hundred dollars more than the minimum payment, plus she noticed the interested rate when up a substantial amount.

My mother called Chase bank to speak to a Customer Service Representative; she was on the phone for over an hour being transferred from one rep to another explaining over and over again what had happend.
Finally she was transferred to some man who claimed to be the HEAD SUPERVISOR who explained to her that because her payment wasn't made between such and such date in January (but made early- in December) it was considered not paid.

He told her that her early payment counted towards the principle, but not towards the payment because... (even though it was paid early & even though the teller at the bank told her it was okay to pay early at the bank and that she credited to her January payment) Your gonna loves this... it wasn't paid between such and such a date in January, so it doesn't count!
Let me just explain this... because she paid early and not on the due date it was considered late and she is now being penalized because she went to the bank and paid early and because Chase employees are not educated enough to know that the information they give out at the bank is incorrect.

Lets put aside the fact that she has excellent credit, has never made a late payment and always pays more than the minimum amount. Lets put aside that the teller at the bank told her it was okay to pay at the Chase bank and that it was okay to pay early and... the customer service rep she spoke to on the phone the previous time she called sent a letter and told her she fixed the situation and it was all taken care of, this man said all of that is not true.

The man who she spoke to tonight after being on hold told her that according to the "fine print" on the contract she signed when signing up for the card it states that the bank has the right to charge her a higher interest rate and increase her minimum payment because she did not pay the extra fee for the late fee the previous month and she didn't pay between such and such date in January.

Wait a minute... I thought the Female Customer Service rep from the previous time she called Chase told her to disregard the bill and that she didn't have to pay the extra amount. I heard my mother tell the rep "I would like to pay extra, because I always do" and the rep told her that was fine and that she would adjust the account and she even sent her a letter.

Now if you're really confused about this situation, how do you think my 70 year old mother is feeling?

I am furious! I watched her face turn red as her blood pressure increased as she spent an hour on the phone being passed on from one rep to the next because no one at Chase bank seems to know what the hell is going on. Except for the man who thinks he is a GOD who calls himself the "HEAD SUPERVISOR".

According to him it doesn't matter what anyone at CHASE bank told her... "It's in the fine print".

I got on the phone with the BIG supervisor who was as cold and uncaring as they come! He didn't care about what anyone at the bank had told my mother, he refused to give me the name or phone number of the previous woman rep who said she took care of this situation and kept repeating how it was in the fine print if you miss a payment (which she did not do, she paid it early), your interest rate will increase and he cannot change it back to what it was.

I said to him "you've got to be kidding me, you're telling me that my mother is being penalized because she made an early payment at one of your banks!"

He said that's correct, it's in the fine print. I asked him to transfer me to someone above him, he said he was the head supervisor and there was no one else above him (We'll see about that).

I told him I would report them to the Attorney Generals Office, he said it's in the fine print. I told him that he is one of the most insensitive human beings I had ever spoken to; he didn't care he was cocky and thought he was a God with all this power. He didn't try to help out a customer with an outstanding record with Chase bank, a person who tried to do the right thing and pay her bill early BEFORE IT'S DUE DATE because she was having surgery.

This guy is a real winner! I will take this as far as I have to and tell the media and anyone who cares to listen that CHASE BANK HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS - EVEN THE ONES WHO PAY THEIR BILLS... EARLY.
I know that this man who was smug and rude will someday be treated the way he treats others. I am a true believe of what comes around goes around and someday (hopefully when he is an old man) someone will treat him with such disrespect as he did to my mom.

The problem you are having is that you don't understand what Chase is attempting to do. They want to increase everyone APR and are looking for any excuse to do it. That are their marching orders. Once you accept that fact, you can lower your blood pressure. THEY DON'T CARE WHAT YOUR EXCUSE IS: THEY WANT YOUR MONEY (OR YOUR MOTHER'S MONEY.) They increased my APR from 11% to 30%. If you really want to get mad about something, think about the fact that Congress gave these guys $25 billion of or tax dollars to "bail them out." They won't give your mother a break, but they have no problem begging money from the government. Unfortunately, those clowns in Washington were "sympathetic" to Chase. How's that hope and change working for you?

Oh my, what an awful story.. I'm fairly new to credit cards and am still unsure of what activities are "rewarded" and penalized (eg, paying early/paying late), so I searched "do you get penalized for paying early" in Google and ended up here. Huh.. I hope you get this all sorted out! Please keep us all posted, and good luck!

I feel for you. Chase has got me too. Last year they offer me something I cannot refuse. 2.99% for the life of the balance fixed -- not variable. I read the fine print, it was good. I spoke with the Chase bank manager about this and he shook my hand, saying, " no problem, it is as good as our home loans--only a better rate." He confirms that the only thing that would move my rate higher is if I paid late, I default or my credit tanked. No worries there, I'm at 749+ score with all 3 bureaus.

Fast forward one year. Chase increases my regular APR from 7.99 to 29.99 (no reason, all of my accounts are in good standing.) Then they reduce my credit limit to just above my balances. Pissed yes, but no worries. I continue making payments on time.

Now they send me a notice (Jan 09) that all my fixed for life promotional rate is going away. No opt out feature, its just going to happen in April 09. (says the customer service person).

Chase took 25 BILLION in taxpayer money with the bailout. They were supposed to use it to pay bad debt, instead they bankrolled it (there is no supervision of the bailout money by the way). They are also using it to lobby congress to veto credit card reform.

Chase follows the new credit model. They actively search for people who may have difficulty paying off debts and target them with balance transfers and debt consolidation offers. After getting in over their head, they bait-n-switch and frak them over. In an internal Chase meeting this policy was disclosed and the informant left Chase after he found out how crooked they are.

Luckily, I am in a position to pay off Chase in full on this. A lot of people are not so lucky and this will be the straw that breaks the camels back for them. I feel bad that our government backed such a crooked company like Chase, but then again, it is our government. No stretch there.

To all the flamers who would respond to this and with only the intent to tear up my comments: Go ahead. Maybe your a Chase Zealot in disguise, some CEO in his gold leaf pajamas who has to beat up on the person who got screwed by your company and has the balls to tell their story. Those reading posts after this will easily tell who is telling the truth and who is covering for Chase.

JPMorgan Chase dubious recordkeeping practices

Balance transferred from Chase, but they won't let it go. After speaking with five separate CSR's and getting the run around--everything from I'll have to let you speak with my supervisor only to get dropped, to getting transferred to a department that is closed. I have had it. They want to hang on to the interest and charges and not let go. I'm getting charged by BOTH now for the same balances. Something tells me that should be illegal. They even have change their policies to post payments made after 1PM to the next business day. How can they post purchases made the same day, but not payments? How can they take five business days to transact a wire transfer, when it is instantaneous?

I know they are all bad, but choose your card carefully and get those balances down. Shame on the credit card companies! Take back control. You, the consumer, should be calling the shots, not them. Imagine a room full of a dozen or so smug tycoons rolling in your money! Stop the madness!

JPMorgan Chase banking nightmare

i must say when i heard that my place of employment offered pay cards to their employees at no charge to be able to use if you did not have a bank account i was thrilled as i knew i would be able to get my pay check without having to spend money i did not have to be able to spend. at first everything was great or so i thought. i started seeing charges appearing on my card that were double and even triple charged. no big deal i thought. i was able to get ahold of the companies that had overcharged me and they were more than happy to oblige my request to have the money refunded. however chase on the other hand which is the company my employer uses had other ideas as to what would be acceptable. they have provided nothing but hassle when it comes to being refunded saying i have to wait 5-10 business days for the matter to be investigated and then the latest of wrong doings on their behalf. i had run my debit card at an atm at work. the transaction showed as processed but the money was never dispensed. i called the bank that the atm belonged to and they advised they would be more than happy to reverse the charges however rather than seeing the charges reversed i saw the next day 2 individual charges for $1.00 each and an overdraft fee of $15.00. i called chase about this and they said they did not have record of a transaction being reversed. they filed claims on these charges after much deliberation and argument from them. i had to go to 3 different supervisors before they did anything. not to mention the lack of communication skills their customer service reps have. they are located in india somewhere. they speak very broken english and have no empathy whatsoever to the customers troubles that have been caused at their companies expense. but i rest on that subject as that opens a whole new can of worms. we can discuss another time. i have had nothing but trouble since this last friday in getting the money that should have remained on my card back and am still awaiting any resolution from them on this. now if i had money to begin with i would not really have any trouble waiting but i am the average american just trying to survive in this day and age what with having nothing more than $79.00 a week to live on for food and anything else i need to survive after all my bills and child support are paid for. to me $20.00 dollars may as well be a hundred dollars or more. they are now stating that they have to investigate the matter and are now claiming it will be ten business day before i hear anything. meanwhile they sit in their tidy little offices and could really care less about what situation this has put me in and the fact that the overdraft charge which was charged wrongly is going to make my pay check this week even smaller. so much for food this week i hope i can survive with nothing for a week. thank you chase for starving me. i had spoken with the manager of the bank the atm belonged to and they are more than willing to send the records of the transaction showing it timed out and did not dispense the funds so as to have the transaction voided and the money put back on my card. chase stated they can not do that as their process does not allow it. a pathetic excuse to jab at the little guy once again if you ask me. my helpful advise to anybody that reads this is if you can at all avoid jp morgan chase please do so for your own sense of dignity and security as they obviously care not for their customers.

Be extremely careful with this bank. Close your credit card account a.s.a.p. Customer service reps are rude and will hang up the phone on you.

I paid off my final balance on my c.c. They didn't even send me a final statement. How cheap! I requested this 3 times already and still no statement. Will have to physically go to a CHASE bank in hopes of getting one. Don't trust their online banking.

Selfish bank !

JPMorgan Chase illegal practices

My husband and I leased a car through Chase Auto Finance, at the end of the lease we were slapped with $1400 is over milage charges. The dealer from whom we purchased the car never gave us a copy of the contact with Chase (we had a copy of a contract with Wells Fargo only, which clearly listed we leased a car with 15k miles per year). I agreed to make payment arrangements with them and was told that after 100 days I would be sent to collections even though I was making payments.

In addition, they would call and harrass us asking when we would be sending a check, the amount and check number. Good luck with their End of Lease Department. They are total jerks and cannot even send a fax face page up!

On numerous occasions Chase Auto Finance has been very rude and vulgar with me .I'm not a bad customer when I pay my car payment each and every time I have paid well over the amount due.I'm not 30 plus days due at any time .I've heard everything from my credit is bad so that is why I'm being harrassed and they call sometimes three times a day when I am only two days past due.WHY? Had I known how rude they were I would have gotten my loan somewhere else...I had other options and wish now i would have taken them.I'm so frustrated with this particular company that I feel like giving them the car back b/c they are rude and nasty .

Paid off our 2017 chevrolet hhr-recieve paper title in mail that reflects title is overlapped by yet another title-and is reflective that chase is still lienholder—electronically also the same information was sent to dmv—yet chase claims theres nothing they can do—been to state police and floridas dmv-who all reaffirm this is chases responsibility to correct this info asap. Calls taken by overseas call reps have gotten nowhere-personal visits to chase branch in miami did no good-asa rep there just calls same type of call center with lady telling me its up to us to get a new vehicle title-yet one cannot even do anything when dates are false-information is false—this is the biggest sham we have ever come across regarding simple documentations process—i woul;d never do business with these people again—and we got a 06'chevy that we cant even have accurate documentation on-let alone drive it.

I bought my car in 2017. Dealer gave me the loan from Chase Auto Finance @4% for 60 months. After being at the dealership all day, I was leaving near closing time. I returned to the finance dept. and told them that I needed a 36-month loan, not a 60-month loan, to coincide with the end of my alimony payments. Finance dept. told me to pay $750/month instead of $445 (approx.) and the loan would be paid off in 3 years. ONE YEAR AFTER I made my last payment, Chase called saying that I was late on a payment, and if I did not pay $700 they would repossess my car. I paid, planning to resolve the situation. They called me several times after still claiming that I had another 14 months of payment due. I asked for a supervisor; was told one would call me back and never received a call. I called and requested a statement of my payments and they never sent one. Then my car was repossessed. Now I am supposed to call someone from Chase in the morning to do what - negotiate another payment plan? I need to go through 3 years of bank statements on an account that has been closed for a year and a half to prove that the car was paid off. I am a single parent and I need my car for work or I could lose my job after 6 years. Chase Auto Finance absolutely refused to go through their records of my payments and just came and took my car.

Less than 6 hours ago, I sent chase over 2017.00 for my truck that was taken from my driveway last sat. Night. I have been trying to get my truck since mon. I never delt with the same rep.in trying to fullfill chase's request/demands mon turned into tues. Now it's fri, they have my money and my truck is someware in nashville. Which was put on a truck after I told the last rep that I wasn't paying it off, I would pay for "past due, as well as this may payment (Due on 5/24). One rep said all of my paper work was fine, another said they have yet to recive (Sent 4 times in same day). Spoke to a number of"off shore"reps. One told me all I needed to pay was 215.00 then it went to 3330.00and so on. I requested info in writing... We don't do that. The last rep I spoke to told me this wouldn't have happened if I had taken care of this"on the 10th, or11th. I asked him if he had seen that I was trying to get this taken careoff... He said yes, not our problem.
In dec. I went on a differnt pymnt plan. All reps said they saw the info.. Had my check and payment info.
At this point in time, I really don't know what to do. They knew I was working to get this taken care of. I understand large call vol, few reps. But this has gone to an extreme. Even with partial info on mon. There was no reason this wasn't taken care of tues. I even took yesterday and today off. When I told this to another "off shore" rep. The response was "there was no reason for you to miss work, everything is fine" and the classic "don't you worry, no need to worry, I will take care of this. Gee, if I din't take off, who knows where my truck would have ended up don't know if I still have a job, can't make extra money cutting grass, can't haul hay to my horses.

I have been sick with a tumor and had a med procedure done 2 months ago. During this time we have fallen behind on our bills including our car payment with JP Morgan. My husband has been in contact with an agent from chase and they said they would try to work out a hardship deferral for us and we would still behind a payment plus late charges but we could pay that and bring current. Tues a woman came to the door and served my husband with court papers from chase telling us to appear in court in sept 2017 to turn the vehicle in or pay 19000.00 to pay off the loan. when my husband called to try to understand what was going on they said they would not work with us the agent did not post anything about a deferral on our account so there is nothing we can do, they did say we could pay them 4800 but we don’t owe that amount when my husband ask why so much they said it is 2 payments plus late charges. I am shocked and distraught and do not know what to do. I cannot believe in a time when families are struggling that a company like JP Morgan could be so cold they are completely refusing to work with us.

I ve spoken to an extremely rude representative named
George re: making another payment towards my account. I
had already put another $100 on it to catch it up some.
He told me to keep the money and that he cant do anything
with that. He also said that they will not accept any
payment less than the $420.00 that is owed. Which is a fat lie. I am extremely livid by this response. I am also a customer service rep
who has dealt with collections over 10 years. Where I am now, I am expected to deliver courtesy to our subscribers no matter what. I am expected to be empathatic in their dilemmas no matter what otherwise I won t be employed. This was disgusting representation. I then asked for a supervisor and he flat out told me no and to call back.
This was 7/9/09 at 5:45pm. I am awe struck that if calls are being monitored as my calls are that these reps still work there & are getting away with speaking to people in this manner. I will never bank with you all because of the many mishandlings that I have experienced via phone. This treatment is unacceptable even if an
account is delinquent. I cant help my situation right now but I am doing my best and to be treated in this manner is ridiculous and I want something done. I have called and I can honestly say I've literally had 2 nice reps. This is why I dont call back when left a message. I do want something done about this and the phone call pulled and analyzed. I also called back and was tranferred into a
full voice mail for a supervisor. I called back again and
another rep left me on hold and didnt come back to the
phone. Simply outragous. I would never be able to get away
with this type of treament to our customers because our
management team listens to each call. I hope that you take
this seriously because this strategy is also illegal being
that aggressive. I do want that call pulled. I tried calling back again sw a Lovell id # n095682 (if this is a real #) he also would not get me to a supervisor. This is on 7/10/09. These people should all be fired. I know I would be if I talked to people in that manner. I am sending a copy to the Better Business Bureau as well. I really hope something is done about this because this is inexcusable.

I asked chase to help me lower my payments due to separation of my wife and i. I was told I qualify only to be disrespected by the office. Told me I could have payments lowered and still got me waiting on a reply — my friend made the same request (White) got a reply in 3 days same situation. Chase is racist and unfair to costemers (Black)

I have had my Subaru for almost 20 months and I am now wishing I had researched this company more before doing business with them.

I am pregnant with my second child and due to severe complications was pulled from work but was waiting for my disability to be approved (which was about 90 days). During that time, I called Chase to advise them I wasn't receiving a paycheck and I knew I couldn't afford December's payment and would there be anyway to "tack it on" to my last month's payment. I was informed by Glenn who said they do NOT work with people, you either pay the bill or someone would be at my house to get my car. He also told me that they would call everyday that I was late and that the company would make sure to take the car in front of me and my 2 year old. When I asked for a supervisor, he hung up on me.

I called by and spoke to Mary, and when I told her I had never been late on a payment and I really wanted to work something out before I became late, she said that Chase doesn't work with people, you either pay or you lose your car. I couldn't believe for one month, nothing could be done. When I again tried to explain my situation and told her we were living on my husband's paycheck and I had a mortgage to pay and utilities, she told me what would I rather have my car or house. She said pay those late, it will take them a month to shut off my utilities and 2 months to start foreclosure proceedings. When I asked for her supervisor, I was again disconnected.

The bottom line is, do your research before signing with any company.

We purchased a Ford Mustang in 2017, and financed it through Chase Auto Finance. We were never late on a payment until this past spring when we both had our hours cut at work. When we got behind by a couple of weeks, the calls started, 5 to 7 a day. Even if we made our payment, they would call every day. We asked to have the 'late' payment placed at the end of our loan. We thought this to be fairly common practice. We were rudely refused. Every month, more late fees, due to this one payment that we had been late on, because they considered every payment late after that. The calls increased, at one point over 20 a day. Most times no one would be on the line. If they WERE there, they were rude, demanding we send payment now. One guy even told my husband that they were calling JUST to harrass us. 2 weeks ago I called to get a payoff, and they refused to give me an amount. Said that I had to get caught up first. I said "I'm paying the entire car off tomorrow". It took 4 calls before they would give me the amount. When I called the next day to pay it off, the amount had gone up. "Interest" I was told. $2.50, overnight! I said I didn't care, just send me my title. We'll see how long it takes to get that! Every time the phone rings, my 3 year old says CHASE! How sad is that? I wrote them 2 letters, and I told them I might just be one person, and don't make a bit of difference to them, but I WILL tell every single person I can what a horrible experience I had with them.

I recently (Sept. 23, 2017) paid Chase Auto Finance $18, 000 to close my loan with them in order to resell my vehicle. Since that time, I have got nothing but runaround from Chase Customer Service in regards to obtaining my title. Several phone calls have been met with "We have a research team working on it" but no title as of October 5, 2017. I was even told on the 29th of Sept. that my title had been sent to me via Fed-Ex but found that to be a lie. Chase was nice enough to send me a letter on the 27th of September stating my account is satisfied and even sent a check for overpayment but no title. I was told three separate times that a supervisor would be contacting me but still no call. I have even received the cleared check back in the mail meaning Chase has deposited the funds sent to them. Chase is the worst in regards to customer service and taking care of those who are on time with their payments. I will NEVER apply for any type of Chase loan or credit card as a result of this experience.

JPMorgan Chase lease termination

I have a leased car with eight payments left. I have to get out of the lease b/c i hit the milage limit. So i bought a new car and needed to return the car to chase. Mind you Riverdale Jeep in NY would not take my old car. They were going to make the eight leftover payments. So I call Chase and they state (something not written in my contract) they cannot come to inspect/take the car before 180 days b4 it's due back. That's six months! I have eight months left and they are getting their money for all the paymnets upfront! Why won't they take the damn car?

I had 12 months less to pay my loam, then they finish the contract, to reposes my car
because pass due two payments, and pass due, fees, I the co signed of this loam, and they do not wants to accept a deals from my parts, they want the all amounts pay of, I can not do so, because I have not address to send the payments.
The bank where I was making payments in the pass they can not accepted not payments for the pay off of this situations.
this is a 2007 toyota tacoma.

JPMorgan Chase late payment fee dispute

Received a late payment fee from Chase Credit Card even though the electronic bank payment indicated that I paid 2 days prior to the due date. This isn't the first time that I've paid 2 days prior. Spoke with 1 representative & pass on to supervisor & he couldn't care less so I closed my account. Was appalled at how terrible their customer retention process is for good paying customers. I have been a customer since 2003 & have never been late in paying. So due to their own error for not processing the payment sooner, they decide to lose a customer. Will not even allow a one time forgiveness period. Their loss. Don't sign up for Chase cards.

Chase is worst.

I have had about 20 revolving credit accounts. Only Chase had reported late payments 4 times when it is not actually a LATE payment.

Don't ever choose credit card run by Chase.

Chase is complete scam. Be aware of Best Buy/ Future Shop/ Sears Credit Cards!

I am on a payment plan with Chase to pay off the balance of my card. Since I have been on the payment plan I have not missed a payment. Because I won't schedule payments ahead of time because I need to make my payment based on when I get paid and how much (so I can pay extra if possible), they call me about 5-8 times per day to harass me to set up a payment. Let me remind you that I HAVE NOT MISSED A PAYMENT ON THIS PAYMENT PLAN which I have been on for about a year and a half. I changed my ringer on my phone so I know when its them so I don't bother even looking at my phone when they call. They are ridiculous and I will never ever again have a card through Chase, and will only say very bad things about them. I also will not posess any new credit cards in the future. If I can't pay for it today then I don't need it, period.

July of 2009 I owed $12000 on my Chase cards. I was getting 0 % on one and 6% on the other. For some reason they didn't get the payment. Lost in the mail or in there office ...don't know.
When I called, they acted like they could care less.
Needless to say...my interest rate went up.
This month I will have paid both Chase credit card off.
That is over $12000 I paid in 13 months.
Chase lost me as a good customer.
You would think they would spent a little more time and money on Customer Relations then those stupid commercials on TV.
Spred the word...nothing hurts a company more then word of mouth

I totally agree, they couldn't care less when I complained about a late fee for 2 days late - the first time ever. They make their money on poor credit risks, very poor business plan.

I too had a late fee applied for a payment due on Sunday and processed on Monday. I've had the credit card since 1986 and always pay my bill in full. It turns out the mail was slow this month, so I got hit with the $39 late fee and shall owe another $35-$40 for interest on purchases made during the last statement period. I had no idea that an institution could charge a late fee for payments with due dates which fall on a Sunday and post on the following Monday. A Chase rep told me that Chase actually goes to the post office every 2 hours to collect payments, even on Sundays! Regardless, I wasn't aware of it, and frankly, don't know if I believe him. This is just another way for credit card companies to extract fees from thir customers. I expect they will try to cut the grace period even further in the future. This will snag even more people. Rather than closing a credit card account, it is often better to just cut up the credit card and keep the account open with a zero balance. Closing an account actually hurts your credit score since having revolving accounts with low balances is generally looked at as a good thing.

I've also had a bad experience with their customer service just yesterday. Been a cardmember since 1999 and have never had a late payment. I mailed out my payment normally giving it three days to get there. Due date was on a Sunday and the payment posted Monday morning. Got a $39 late fee and finance charge. Called customer service to be told that they "could" waive the service fee but were not going to. Managers were even worse. I felt like I was being talked down to. They have no desire for customer retention whatsoever. I'm exploring all avenues on this and cancelling my card. I also urge everyone here to spread the word to relatives and co-workers to cancel their cards and switch to a better credit card provider. I know of at least two people who will cancel with me so at least that's a start.

I had a similar experience today. I'm closing all my accounts with WaMu/Chase. I'm only out $39.00 but Chase will never see another dime from me.

It was oddly easy to cancel my credit card account. No customer retention process at all, go figure.

Unbelievable. I have moved and sent my April payment with my new address. I still have not received a statement so I called customer service and spoke to reps, supervisors and managers who would not reverse the late fee so I closed my account and will send a complaint letter to: Richard Srednicki, Pres/CEO, Chase Headquarters, 270 Park Ave., New York, NY [protected]. Phone # [protected]. I didn't know I had a late fee until I called for my balance thus being taunted my supervisors saying that they have the authority to reverse the late fee but won't. What customer service, they should answer the phones, "welcome to chase, how may we harrass you today?"

The same thing happens to me. I have been a WaMu customer for 6 years. Chase bought it and changed the due date to be several days earlier and charge me for a late fee. I always pays on time. This time I was one day late (supposed to pay on 12th but I realized it on the 13th) since it is the first month that it switch to Chase service. I told one of reps and they took the late fee off but I still have to pay for the 1 day interest that I missed. That was ok and I paid the full balance of that bill. One month later, I paid attention to my due date and paid a full balance and did it 2 week earilier, on the 30th. Then I found out later that I still got a financial charge from the purchasing amount that occurs after a late payment cycle, from the 13th to 30th. How is this possible? Purchasing from the13th to 30 th should be in the new cycle bill and it should not be counted for the interest since I paid this cycle on time.
Anyway I talked to the first reps. She is terribleeeee...Bad dddd in customer survice or may be she need a ... so bad. She shouted at me and did not listen to me. Then I requested to talk with another reps. She just said NO..NO ONE else can talk to you. Well...She just hang up on me. I called again but luckily I got a better one. He explained it to me.
My point is that Chase has a bad service and a trick to do a business with. I closed my account with them. No more business with them. Please tell your friends. Do not open an account with Chase...It will Chase you Over ...As you can see by ITS NAME.

I have been a WaMu Customer for 10 years. Chase took over and they changed the due date to the 20th of the month. The due date used to be the 23rd to the 28th.
I pay like clockwork - never a late payment.
I paid on the 21st like usual and saw the late fee on my account!
I called Chase customer service - notta, no help. I ask them to make a concession on the late fee to save my
credit rating. No help. In fact, they gave me the address of th CEO Jamie Diamon!
Then I was paying my other Chase card as usual and noticed another late fee!
I paid on the 20th of the month and the statement cuts on the 21st. I needed to make the payment between the 21st and the 9th of the month in order for the payment to be applied to the correct billing cycle! The interest rate jumped to 27.94%!
So - Late fee for paying 1 day late and Late fee for paying 1 day early.
I closed BOTH accounts.
I will never do business with Chase AGAIN!

JPMorgan Chase fraud

I received a call from Providian over a week ago notifying me of fraud. Over $600.00 in cash advances were made using a card (manufactured by the thieves) in North Holllywood, CA and Van Nuys. I live in St. Louis. They removed the first transaction, but not the second one that was nearly $500.00. I have submitted a signed affidavit, which they have confirmed their receipt, but yet the charges remain. Now they're transferring their business to JP Morgan Chase. I have spoken to every rude operator in India that cannot understand the most basic English. They have assured me many times that they are removing the charges, yet, each time I check my statement on-line, it's still there! Moreover, if they have already acknowledged that the first withdraw was fraudulent and they canceled my card on the 18th, how could the next charge on the 19th be valid. It's NOT! It's like talking to a wall. They refuse to remove the fraudulent charges. They are liars. I cannot be in my home town, over 1, 200 miles away, and in California withdrawing money within an hour of each transaction. It's impossible. The government needs to step and regulate these crooks. Is there a company where I can deal with US customer service reps only?

This information was very helpful to know I am going through the same thing with chase. I was previously a WAMU customer. In my case it is a debit card. So it is not the bank's money. It is my money. They have refused to credit my account. I have sent 30 emails, 5 electronic faxes, called 25-30 times all in the last 22 days. On vacation and attempting to attend son's graduation. Needed my funds for medication finally got that, then need the final amount for car rental to attend son's graduation. They excuse they give after 22 days faxes and 5 electronic forms is that claims does not have the forms. So many excuses don't have form for the last 10days. Supervisor gone for today, we will do today. Finally got a return call from the executive office wait 2-3 business days. I am disabled, fixed income and support 3 people one being a 7 year old child. I live in California, vacation in Alabama, son graduating in Kentucky. I have spent most of the morning for days calling chase. I want to know where I should file a lawsuit for my money. my time, my loss of vaction and my last 22 days of working for chase. I even had to call Merchants and explain my situation to have them knock off charges up 1359. I have several accounts with chase. They can only see two that have automatic deposits. I think they will be surprised when I am able to withdraw other funds. As soon as I return to Ca I will be closing all accounts. I will tell the world what has happened to me . I most definitely want to be compensated for the drama.

I just had an email from paypal stating that my 500 dollar payment to Justin Collier, Seller's email: justincollier00@yahoo.com was paid from my Chase credit card as requested but was awaiting for this Justin to accept it, luckily I was checking emails when this msg came through, I called Chase which was formerly for me until the 9th of March a Providian/ WaMu account that Chase just took over, and fortunately there was a zero balance on my account so they didnt give me a hard time when I called to dispute this payment, they closed that account and I was told that I wouldnt be liable and theyd contact me if during the investigation there was further information needed, , she was American spoke good English and was very helpful, I also filed a dispute w/ paypal to stop the payment which they did, and are requesting more info from this Justin person, , so unless everyone Ive talked to at Chase and Paypal are scammers, phishers and thieves also then this should be taken care of as promised, , , I just wanted to share my expierience w/ you and offer you a bit of hope, , ,
