After a 10 minute conversation where Dr. Loops barely said anything, he explained that he had to end the call because he had another client scheduled. He asked me to send him more information about the supplements that my cat was currently taking and said that he would reply to my questions later. I diligently put together a few questions I had along with her blood work from her last 4 exams and I took the time to include all pertinent information about her specific condition. Getting a reply was like pulling teeth. His office was quick to send me an email to request payment, but I had to ask his office multiple times if Dr. Loops would reply to my questions, and ultimately he never did.
The only email I received after our call was an email asking for payment. In the email, his office also added: "I don't think she has a brain tumor". This is an irresponsible thing to say since only an MRI could allow Dr. Loops to make such an assessment. The email also stated that her seizures were caused by epilepsy and that "renal disease doesn't cause seizures", which is factually incorrect. I have seen two reputable vets in NYC who both confirmed that seizures CAN be caused by renal disease. They also both confirmed that she most probably doesn't have epilepsy since she had her first seizure at 16 years old and epileptic cats usually have seizures before the age of 4. How Dr. Loops came up with a diagnosis of epilepsy is unknown, especially considering that he never acknowledged any of the blood work I sent him and never examined my cat in person. In the same email, he proceeded to tell me what he was sending two remedies for her kidney issues & another remedy (Argentum Nitricum) for her seizures. At that point, I had so little faith in him that I told him not to send me any remedies & that his diagnosis was most probably incorrect. Dr. Loops should know that diagnosing & furnishing specific instructions and dosages for administration when he never examines animals in person is not only reckless, but it also violates the Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship N.C.G.S 90-181 (7a). Dr. Loops also refused to answer my questions about the ingredients contained in the "remedies" he had sent me last fall, even after I told him that my NYC vet was demanding to know the ingredients. Since he was not transparent about the ingredients, my NYC vet recommended to stop the remedies until I found out what they contained. The ingredients inside these remedies could potentially represent a danger if your pet is taking other supplements or meds that could possibly interfere with them.
In summary, Dr. Loops is a veterinary doctor and he should take those responsibilities more seriously. Rather than spending time defending the indefensible, both him and his patients would be better served by actually providing the good and thoughtful service that his patients need and want. Unfortunately, at this point, it looks like his actions are motivated by greed more than anything else. He seems more interested in cramming as many phone calls as he can in one day and making as much money as he can than in the well being of your pet. His last conversation with me felt like a scam where he barely said a word and immediately diagnosed my cat with a disease she most probably doesn't have.
Save yourself the headache, time & money and go to a vet you can meet face to face and who will see your pet in person. While I strongly believe in the benefits of integrating homeopathic remedies in the treatment of animals, I have come not to trust Dr. Loops with the health and well being of my cat.
