Catrina Gray / staff support when dealing with nasty customers
At my local Coles supermarket I overheard a staff member talking with another staff member about quite a nasty customer who regularly shops there and verbally abuses staff at the checkout . The customer in question had just left the store after rattling a staff member. In conversation with the most recently harassed checkout lass the fellow staff member admitted that the verbally abusive customer had brought her to tears previously. Being a customer who loves the staff at Coles I ALWAYS have their best interests at heart. Staff should NEVER be placed in a position of danger and left to fend for themselves when faced with rude and aggressive customers. Abusive customers should be dealt with by management and be asked to leave the store if their behaviour continues. If certain customers regularly verbally abuse staff then they should be banned from the store. A notice to customers should be placed at each checkout stating that
WE CARE ABOUT OUR STAFF. PLEASE TREAT THEM WITH COURTESY.
PS - ABUSIVE BEHAVIOUR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
The wonderful staff at my local Coles store are like family and I don't want them to suffer at the hands of nasty customers and I certainly don't want them to leave because they are not being supported or protected in this issue.
Please do something to correct the current situation.
