We are notified through another bank that our credit score has been lowered due to a 30 day late payment. We are never late on our bills so I paid to get a credit report to see what was going on. Carrington Mortgage notified the credit company that our mortgage payment was late when indeed it was not. I called Carrington Mortgage to see what has happened and showed proof that I had made that month's payment. They then stated that the mortgage payment paid wasn't the correct amount due to a change in the minimum payment and they were holding our payment in a suspense account until they received the payment in full which in return caused us to be late on our account due to them holding our payment instead of applying that amount to the account and notifying us of the remainder amount needed. They are absolutely the WORST mortgage company I have ever dealt with in my entire life and aren't here to help their customers at all. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!

Our account got sold to them when the company we had been doing business with went under. We have been on time with our payments and our house burned down 2 months ago the insurance sent more than what was owed to them by over $11, 000. We have been waiting over 30 days for our refund and they tell us that they can take up to 30 days to process the refund. I would suggest you go to your local loan shark rather then deal with these people. I think people should get together and file a class action against this company.

Surly there is someway to get these shysters shut down, Worst company I have EVER dealt with. Approximately five years ago Citi mortgage sold my account to Carrington mortgage. I was down to last five years of the loan. It has been a nightmare ever since. Every year they raise my payment twice. Last one with a note that by law they can hold up to two times what is needed in escrow account to pay principle, interest, insurance, and taxes. During these last five years, they have misapplied funds to another account and were hounding me for a payment. That took several phone calls and a week to get them to correct their error. One year I paid the escrow shortage to keep my payments down enough to be able to pay them. They didn’t know how to apply so they just applied to the principle and when I paid the amount the payment should have been they started their harassing phone calls. They wanted me to pay the shortage again until they could figure out where they screwed up. I didn’t have that kind of money just laying around to send them so they charged me a late charge for their screw up. They have not paid my insurance in a timely matter and I received several notices of cancelation. Every month it’s is something with them. Mind you I have never had a late payment in the twenty five years I have had this mortgage. Fast forward to this year. Once again, they are increasing my payments. Not sure why because there is more in the escrow fund than the payoff on the loan. So, I didn’t pay that large escrow shortage as I knew I would be paying the loan off in the next couple of months. The payment was to increase $62 in April and I thought it was May. I paid my usual payment in April. Then came the harassing phone calls. I explained it was an honest mistake on my part and would include the $62 dollars in my next payment. They were having nothing to do with. Even though they had my $1149.49 they would not post it because of the $62 shortage. They reported me to the credit bureau which put a hickey on my pristine credit report. I tried to work with customer service but as usual their customer service is rude and useless. So now they have $4752.56 of my money they payoff is $3316.57 which means they owe me $1435.99. Now I get a foreclosure notice not just one but four. So basically, they are trying to steal my house over $62 dollars. They have applied payoff from escrow but still have my $1435.00 From other complaints about them, and there a lot, this should become a class action law suit. @theGlory are you still assisting people?

Exactly the same thing happened to me. The mortgage payment went up, I continued my regular automated payments but the 1st short payment WENT ENTIRELY INTO ESCROW! That April 2015 payment was counted as a missed payment! The 2nd payment, again low, was received and applied to NOTHING. By the time the 3rd month rolled around my statement was saying I owed close to $10K. I called, wrangled and paid the odd amount that I was told would fix it all. Wrong. I was STILL a month "behind". I called again, made another extra payment to get caught up, it went to late fees, and what was left? went into my principle. So I am putting extra money into principal AND getting late charges at the same time. I thought I was going crazy trying to figure this out before I finally googled "Carrington Mortgage complaints". Yikes, now I get it. I'm playing with sharks. A whole day spent on this and my $1720.30 payment sucked up in escrow, with some $250 late fees and STILL behind on my payments. Oh, then there was the line that the extra $1720.30 in escrow couldn't be retrieved because 6 months had passed. How convenient.
