Car Rental Republic Double charge car rental

Hello,

Greetings from Denmark.

I booked 4 cars in Calgary in July 2022 and made the payment, as I always have to pay for this client.

The client told me, that they also paid, otherwise they couldn´t get the cars. But the thing is, I never got my money back.

I have attached a copy of my payments, and also a copy of the clients payments.

By mistake I paid in USD instead of CAD, but it´s normally not a problem.

Hope you can help me, as I would very much like to get my money back, as it is quite a lot of money.

If you need further information, pls. do not hesitate to contact me.

Car Rental Republic Beware of car rental republic do not hire a vehicle with them!!!

I am very unhappy with the service that we received from car rental republic, I had booked a vehicle with them for our trip to brisbane in may, paid a deposit, and after receiving an email which clearly said confirmed, I left it at that, but I like to be organised and called in to thier customer care on the day before we were to arrive to confirm our booking, and the person said its all good we will have a vehicle ready for us... We arrived at brisbane airport at 5:00am on the 26th of december, with 3 children expecting to have a vehicle ready for us, I called the number on my booking, to be informed that did have not got a vehicle for us. And was told to wait until 8:00am at the airport.
Anyone travelling with children would know that waiting at airports can be quite challenging!

So we waited... To get a very snotty and unprofessional person saying that they did not get a confirmation reply (Which they never did) and I did not respond to it...
I mean do you not follow through with a booking (That had an actual money deposit paid) via a phone call if an email was not responded to?
At that stage there was still no answer to have a vehicle supplied (At 8:15am)
I then decided to try one of the other car hire a vehicle from avis, and they were fortunately able to hire a vehicle out to me, however at a premium price (Being booked on boxing day without booking in advance) as to where my budget was blown out the water, putting a major damper on my holiday that had already cost me a fortune.

Have a very good think about choosing this company before you go on holiday, they may be cheaper, but at the end could end up costing you double what you were budgeting, and end up spoiling your entire holiday...

Car Rental Republic Additional insurance/hidden

I rented a vehicle through car rental republic but little did I know that I was going to be done in with an insurance that was added at the same price nearly as the rental car.

You are actually not renting a vehicle you are paying for hidden insurance and then being charge by the vehicle rental company again when collecting the vehicle.

Be extremely careful when booking through this company they do not respond and are extremely rude when you do get to speak to someone.

Being from South Africa and dealing with crooks like this from the other side of the world makes sorting a query out very difficult.

Avoid Car Rental Republic they should be named and shamed on all media so people are aware of their dodge trading

Car Rental Republic No refund deposit GBP350

October 2012 we rented a car from Right Cars at Glasgow Airport for one week for which we payed a deposit of GBP 350, 00. After inspection of the car upon return everything was in order according to the company (no scratches, no damage), so the full refund should be GBP 350, 00. Almost 3 weeks later the amount was still not credited to my Visa Card.
I sent an e-mail to Right Cars and they told me that my refund was already processed 2 weeks before and that the funds had left their account and they had asked their bank to investigate to see if they could explain why it hadn't arrived in my account.
I never heard from them again!
After numerous e-mails and phonecalls to the reservations dept the following months, nobody ever answered my request nor call me back, nor bothered even to send me an e-mail. I was totally ignored.
The most problematic thing with that company is that you have to call a phone number of reservations and ask your question, the lady on the other end can do nothing else than pass your question to the financial dept., you cannot call them yourself. Or you can send them an e-mail, which is worthless because they do not bother to answer it.
After almost half a year I got this e-mail when I forwarded my complaint to Car Rental Republic: they apologized for my trouble with Right Cars and they were going to look into it.
And they did ! finally... but what a surprise when I got this message forwarded from Car Rental Republic last week: Right Cars is dealing with my issue and they would forward details and photo of damage to the car (!) forward to Car Rental Republic obviously, not to me.
We are now 7 months past the rental period! They are now accusing me of having returned a damaged car.
I told them it is unacceptable to raise this type of issue after all this time, mainly because first they told me they already refunded the deposit in October 2012.
I am now really fed up with both of these companies and have late them know that I am not accepting this kind of behaviour, their accusations and that I have started up formal proceedings to get my money back. I am entitled to GBP 350, 00
Total radio silence from their side until today. It is unbelievable that they think they can get away with this and I am not going to let them!
Message to everybody: DO NOT RENT YOUR CAR AT CAR RENTAL REPUBLIC / RIGHT CARS

dear people, there have been some developments recently, this is the email I received last week:

It has come to our attention that you have posted libelous comments on a website http://www.complaintsboard.com/
We now write to inform you that unless the post is removed within 5 working days it is the intention of our company to take legal action in seeking compensation for the libelous comments and also loss of income since the posting.
A copy of the comments and the compensation claim has been sent to your home address and failing a response we will instruct the bailiffs to call at you premises to collect monies outstanding in the Netherlands

Dear posters: today I contacted BBC Watchdog through their website and put in my story with Right Cars Airport Car Rental.
Hopefully, if we all do the same, we will get their attention so they can make other people aware of the tricks and lies and also help stop Right Cars doing business!

I made the mistake to rent a car from Right car as well but problem is I ended up cancelling the reservation and I assume they would refund me the amount I payed. Now they are saying o agreed to the terms and conditions, to which I don't ever recalling agreeing and therefore the right to keep my money! I'm so upset and wish I had done more research before making my reservation.

My name is Kyle Frawley. I rented a car from you in Cyprus for 5 days and had insurance for both cyprus and turkey. The whole thing seems horrible from the start. I am allergic to cigarette smoke and your office was full of smoke to where I couldn't even breathe in the office. The employees smoked non stop and had a whole glass full if cigarette buds. Surely you have some kind of procedure for not smoking in the offIce. My car was not ready upon arrival. I had to wait an hoUr. my car was not cleaned nor I specter upon arrival from another customer. I was give a paper to do an inspection and I did do it marking all scratches. This scratch was on the bu oer. The suspension was horrible and complained about by the previous renter of the car. It is u safe for renters. I showed up to the office at 930 and no one was there when I wanted to return the car I had no phone and a police officer called the office. The police officer told me it was closed and no one answered. I had no choice but to leave it at the airport parking lot. I received a text later saying q00 euros would be charges and I was charged 8 eurps for as they say a scratch thag according to my records was already there, this needs to fixed especially since I have text fro your employees saying 150 euros would be charged Maximums

I contact the police. Everyone don´t getting back the deposit should contact the police like I did. Because of the problems they had in the past time they must know that they can´t pay back the deposit, also the deposit is to seperate from the money of the company and not to use it for the company. This is serious fraud. Go to your police station equal if France, Spain or anywhere. Police scotland said your police had to send the incident report to " contactus@scotland.pnn.police.uk " . I spoke to police scotland and say said to do this. They will investigate against right cars Glasgow because of serious fraud. I hope many people will do like I.

We are in the same position, not sure what to do if they have gone into liquidation. I've emailed the complaints address and their phone lines are now just ringing out. Very worrying. I will now speak to my bank to see what they can do to help.

We have the same experience, the deposit don´t returned. We rent in August 2014.Today I reported to scotland.police and also wrote to right cars that I reported to police, 2 minutes later I get this e-mail by rhight cars UK

Dear Mr XXXX
Right Cars Vehicle Rental Ltd are unfortunately in a position to inform all customers that have been provided car rental services at Glasgow airport, that its franchise operator Tessa Consultancy Ltd T/a Right Cars, a separate legal entity to Right Cars Vehicle Rental Ltd, have ceased trading and have applied for voluntary liquidation.

I think what this was planned. Catch the money and then voluntary liquidation. I think Right Cars UK had to pay the outstanding deposit because they know about the problems for more than a year and don´t stop it. This is serious fraud!

Dear People,

I have just had the same experience in June 2014 as that detailed above. Wrong size of car then endless emails and complaints trying to resolve the missing deposit. I finally have it resolved 2 months on, I ended up contacting my bank as I paid on credit card so you can hold the bank jointly responsible. I have also contacted and detailed my experience and complaint to Scottish Tourist Board, Renfrewshire Trading Standards and BBC. The more we stand together and raise issues like this then hopefully someone in trading standards will take action.

July 2014 and Right Cars are still at it . £350 missing. I've yet to see the accusation of damage but so far they are being true to form from all the previous posts - everything happens fine except the deposit refund and then they just ignore you (hoping some - and some will ) forget /go away. Starting with trading standards today .

The same thing happened to us. We hired a car 26 June 2014 left back 30 June refuelled and undamaged, still no refund of the £350 debited from my card. When I e-mailed I was told the refund had been authorised that was a month ago and still no sign of it. We are from Spain. I will try to get the money back following your advice.

Like many others out there I was also subjected to the misery of having to really hassle these rogues into giving me my £350 deposit back but it did work, here's what I did:
* Speak to somebody on the phone in the first instance to raise your concerns if refund is overdue (usually Kirsty).
* Hassle them twice a day via e-mail chasing up your refund.
* Make an official complaint via e-mail to customerservices@right-cars.com within 28 days of returning the car (as their website instructs) & demand a satisfactory outcome within 14 days.
* Keep chasing twice daily expressing your frustrations & requesting to know when you'll get your money back & what the delay is. You'll most likely be told they're waiting on a transaction receipt from accounts but even if you get this question its relevance as it'll most likely not show a time or date of transaction or give an authorization No.
* Speak to your bank, my bank were happy to act on my behalf once I'd sent copies of all correspondence in the post (as it happened I'd got my refund before the bank had to act).
* 2 days before your 14 day deadline approaches remind them that you'll be seeking legal advise if the situation isn't resolved by then (whilst still chasing twice daily).
* Hey Presto - the morning of the deadline my money had been refunded.

This worked for me, hope it can help some of you.

P.S. I'll NEVER use this company again and would advise the same to the rest of humanity!

Car Rental Republic Double charge of prepaid deposit

RE: CARRENTALREPUBLIC.NET booking IM6717744

I have reserved a Alamo car rental via CARRENTALREPUBLIC.NET. It charges US$8.10 in the contract for prepaid and will be detected from the whole contract amount but it doesn't. In fact, It actually charges $8.26 on my credit card dated 2013-03-13.

When I picked up a car at Alamo at Orlando International airport, the prepaid amount does not show up in Alamo's system and the Alamo reps requested me to contact CARRENTALREPUBLIC.NET for refund.

I have provide proof to CARRENTALREPUBLIC.NET but they refund for refund the double charge.

Car Rental Republic Hidden fees

I booked a car from Car Rental Republic and they’ve charged me a fee for reserving that car even though this fee wasn’t mentioned before I’ve made payment. This is false advertising at its best and they’ve refused to refund me that fee. Consider booking somewhere else.

I booked a car from this company and was charged a one way drop off fee of $350 Canadian. When I got to the car hire firm, I was told I would need to pay another $750 for a one way drop off. They told me I should not of paid car rental republic as this was only charged at the rental company when picking the car up. I have been trying for 5 months to get a refund from Carrentalrepublic and still nothing. I will keep trying :( NEVER AGAIN

Rented a vehicle though these jokers online in Mexico for only one day thankfully. Total amount read $72.10 Canadian for the day including fees and taxes. When I got my credit card statement they had charged additional charges and an extra fees which brought charge up to over $110.00 CDN...for one days rental! My credit card company is reversing all charges as all who use them should.

I totally agree, i booked a car for my trip to ireland recently for a week which was supposed to cost me $120 aud for the week which ended up being around 567 aud, due to the unforseen fees. I was charged $80 by auto europe, 103 car rental republic and 490 from budget ireland. I had booked gps and extra insurance but when i went to budget ireland i was charged again for the same things. I am currently trying to get my refund but finding this a long process. My advice would be to go direct with the car hire company and you will avoid all these dodgy fees good luck

I also booked via carrentalrepublic only the site I was booking from was calgary airport. I noted the hidden fee in the confirmation e-mail and immediately cancelled the reservation and called my credit company. Carrentalrepublic had alread made an $81 charge, which was higher than the fee. There was an additiona. 1.9% credit card surcharge. Be warry. Watch carefully. It the website says carrentalrepulic go somewhere else.
