Capital One lowered credit limit

I reserved a moving truck to move my deceased mother's furniture, so I made a 1000 dollar payment to Capital One to make sure there was enough money available. Then three days after I made the payment, they lowered my credit limit 1300 dollars and now I dont have a way to pay for the truck, which requires a credit card.

It also hurts my credit rating because instead of only owing 1/2 of my available balance, Now I am almost maxed out again

Capital One false deceased report refusal to comply

In 2005 Capital One Reported this card holder as deceased, it was corrected temporary but a code that issues death repeatedly is reported. This has accelerated over the past 7yrs - upon return calls to customer service they failed numerous times to provide assistance on the matter. A credit card agency can is valid to report demise to all reporting agencies and this misinformation can cause bank account closures, lack to access funds, delay deposits, and failure to pass security background checks for employment. To this date Capital One refuse any responsibility and blame third party vendors or technical error - it has caused termination of employment, failure to gain employment and or access funds for basic living! Customer service refutes upon calls over the course of years to deal with requests of consumer backing to clarify an error that stemmed from their mistake! Credit history permanently damage due to this error!

Capital One horrible customer service

I have had the worst customer service through Capital One that I have ever experienced in my 32 years of banking. Unfortunately after Wachovia was bought out I moved my account of 20 plus years to Capital One. They have a lot to offer as far as their services, but their Customer Service is absolutely HORRIBLE! I pay my bills through the online banking. I have 2 auto loans going to the same place and due on the same date. Capital One took the money from my account the day it was due, but according to them, they actually send an electronic draft. My credit union did not receive one of the checks, so after 10 days I received a late notice. Seeing that the funds were withdrawn on the date they were due, this confused me. I called Capital One and they had no idea what to do, no suggestions. I requested they call my credit union and inform them that in good faith I paid my payment on time. In the mean time, they were supposed to send another check. After another 4 days, and still no payment, and now my Credit Union has put a freeze on my funds there, about $4000, I'm out $4600 with the double payment. I called Capital One to tell them NOT to send another check because I was going to pay it myself. I wanted my account credited immediately! I got their scripted response, "the money will be credited back to your account in 2 - 4 days. Six days later no credit, I call once again, asking for someone that could help me. Guess what you cannot talk to anybody other than customer service to make a complaint, you have to write to them. Long story short, 21 days later I get my money back, 9 days after I paid it a second time. NOW...they sent the 2nd check anyway, my credit union deposits it and it's returned for stop payment. I now get charged by my CU $15 for returned check. I write Capital One online to request a refund for their error in sending a 2nd check out. Their reply is that they do not feel responsible for the charge, that my CU should not have cashed it. So...I get stuck with the charge. I explain that this whole situation has been nothing but a nightmare and I will consider moving my account elsewhere if not refunded. Guess what? NOBODY CARES!
Definitely a first ever for me with banking!

Capital One deceptive practice

Capitol one is nothing but scammers and crooks looking to make a buck any way they can and do not care who they hurt. I made a purchase at best buy and elected to open a credit card account with defered interest until may 17, 2012. Two months later I made another smaller purchase and again chose to use the defered interest credit card and this time the interest would be defered until july 17, 2012. I consistently made the minimum payments at least two weeks early for 17 of those months. For the 18th payment I paid what I should have owed on the first purchase plus a little just to be safe, I paid $800, which should have more than paid off the first purchase. That payment was made on may 14, 3 days prior to the experation of the defered interes plan. Then on may 29, I paid what my statement said was the total outstanding balance, $611.49. This being 12 days after the expiration of the first offer and a month and a half prior to the expiratio of the second purchase offer. So, I am thinking it is all paid off in time to avoid interest which was my plan from the day of the purchase. Wrong. They said when I made the payment of $800 I actually owed $874 on the first purchase, so I was $74 short of payoff when the first offer expired. And they say when I logged on to pay what was showing as the payoff on may 29 that was not actually the payoff because at that point I acutally owed the balance plus all the interest from the prior 18 months since I was $74 dollars short on the first payoff. Which by the way is not correct, I am way more particular about my bills than that.
In conclusion they charged me $652.00 because they think I still owed $74 on the first purchase plus put on my credit report that I was 60 days late on payments eventhough I had paid almost $1, 500 dollars in may alone. Huge rip off. It was all a huge scam. The service rep even had a little slip in our arguement and said he had dealt with several others like me that didn't understand their terms. Of course he blamed it all on me for not keeping a check on my account. By the way, don't bother asking to speak to a supervisor becuase they don't honor thier word on that either, no one ever called me back as promised. I went ahead and paid their fraudulant bill since no one that could do anything would ever call me back... Worst excuse for customer service I have ever seen. The reps did not care about anything other than getting me to pay. This probably isn't actually illegal, but just because it's not illegal doesn't mean it's right. It was at the least deceptive. Thats a real good policy. The people that actually do right and make all payments as required... Screw them cuz they want to keep good credit and they will pay. I am tired of gettting screwed because I have good credit. Banks do no want people to have good credit becuase the ones with bad credit must pay higher interest. Banks are all legalized crooks and thieves. Period.

Now that you know that I hope you learned your lesson well - don't play with snakes, you will get bitten. Henceforth no cash no buy. Just save and pay cash. That $652 would be better off in your retirement account, right? That's what my financial adviser says, google him dave ramsey. You closed that account already right?

Something else is make your last payment before the second last bill is out don't wait until the last month. Mail the check using registered mail return receipt requested.

Capital One captialone system errors causes customers suffer a big lost.

The CapitalOne Credit card company advertises and frequently sends promotion checks to customers allowing them to use checks for purchases, cash, or transfers with no transaction fees. However, their system automatically put on hold customers credit account for trivial/wrong reason. Consequently, customers suffer charge back for returned checks and fee for cancelled checks even they have never spent over limit on their CapitalOne credit accounts.

On 7/17/2012 I paid $2000 for my credit line of $2000. CapitalOne accepted this payment and my balance became -$90. That meant CapitalOne owed me $90 and my balance had $2000 available. The next day, 7/18/2012 I wrote a CaptialOne promotion check #12923 of $1800 and deposited to my checking account at Bank of America. However, until 5 days later, on 7/23/2012 I knew the check was denied. Bank of America charged back $12 for returned check and subtracted $1800 from my bank account. I also suffered fees from other cancelled checks due to insufficient checking account at BOA.

On 7/24/2012 My account balance is $0, my available credit $2000, I wrote another check #12924 of $1820. Still, again my account is on hold due to other banks deposit $3000 into my account on 7/26/2012.

I contacted CapitalOne five times about this problem. They said: "An account will be put on hold if there is (1) Large amount of payment or (2) Multiple payments. It is automatically system, they cannot change it.

These are wrong reasons because Capital accepts large amount and multiple payments from customers. Why did they accept payment and then put on hold their customer account? They can put on hold the amount deposited until it is cleared. But they should not put on hold consumer credit line or their entire credit account. Put on hold credit line and put on hold the check is different matter.

CapitalOne said they want to make sure the amount received is cleared. However, the amount should be cleared before posting the transaction. They should post only after the amount is cleared and should give the accurate balance on their customer credit accounts. For example, it is very confused for customer having balance negative -90 after paying $2000, but credit is not available as if they paying late. The payment from customer in large amount to CapitalOne is not customers' fault. Customers do not spend over limit on their account. Instead, customers pay to increase the amount available on their account. It is different from late payment.

CapitalOne also failed to notify me about their decline as they stated in section “Important Information About this Offer” on the info how to use Capitalcheck promotion.

I believe hundred thousand customers have been suffered such wrong and unfair practice. Please investigate to protect other Citizens from this error.

what you did was clearly suspicious and I suspect that's why all of a sudden Capital One decided to make sure your payment clears first before giving access to your credit line. Unless this is normal practice for you (i.e. make a large payment followed by a large transaction), it's understandable for CapOne to suspect. WHY? this is a common way to defraud a bank either by the actual cardholder or by someone who got ahold of the acct info. a large payment is made (which takes days-weeks to clear), the person then uses available credit for purchases or cash advances, the large payment bounces, the person gets free stuff/cash. As I mentioned, if this is the 1st time you made a large payment immediately followed by a cash adv for same amount, CapOne may have suspected fraud. I'm not saying CapOne is suspecting you but there is the possibility that someone may be using your account.
I understand these are things that you are not aware of; unfortunately, CapOne did what they had to do to mitigate risk. this is also why banks' terms and conditions are 100 pages long. I hope you can work out the fees with CapOne and BOA

I have received 5 phone calls from [protected] and [protected]. The man says his name is Justin Nowberg. He is calling to tell me that he is with Capitol One and Mastercard. Letting me know that I have excellent history with them and never missed a payment. They would like to give me a better interest rate. I have talked to him twice now and have not given him any information of mine. I always say "you should have that information already". He has tried to get me to verify last 4 digits of one of my cards, he has tried to get me to give an expiration date. And he also has tried to get me to give him my husbands first name. I stayed firm! He proceeded to tell me that he would knock off 60 percent of my debt. The other 40percent would be at a 0 percent interest rate till it is paid off. Sounds too good to be true, RIGHT! Told me if I went to a bank they would just rip me off. He is calling me back on Friday at 5pm. Told him I had to talk to my husband and he could call me back then. My husband will be home and will be talking to Justin, instead of me! It would be great if you could stop him before he calls me back again. Tired of the harrassement! Please Help! Thankyou

This isn't a complaint, I'm not sure who to report this to. I got an email from Capital One about my contacting you and I haven't done that...here is the following email

Thanks for reaching out to us but this isn’t a secure email address, so
it’s best not to share any personal info over it. Going forward, please do
not reply to this email address since it’s not setup to receive emails.

If you have questions about your account or need assistance, you can get in
touch with us by visiting Capital One’s Contact page
to find the best number to call us, or sign in to your online account so we
can help you.

I'm just confused. I have three capital one accounts and I sure don't want a stranger getting into one of them. I have them all linked. What do I need to do? My monthly payments are automatically taken out I have MS and I am prone to forgetting to do something so I put them on automatic payment. All of my banking info is in there, and I'm afraid of the phishing scam. Please advise me as to what I need to do. Thank you.

Capital One made huge mistake on my credit card & refuse to fix it

OK. I have a Caoital One credit card nwhich I very seldom used. A new card now (Visa) & don't use it at all. I only used Caoital one for online buying of inexpensive jazz CDs & books. This past nmoth I purposely put in about $6000 until my Visa card from RBC arrived & now I only use the Visa card. They acknowledged that they owed me nonly 101.00 owed. I have emailed them, phoned them, & nothing has been done about it. I may be wealthy enough to absorb the approximately $5000.00 loss, but I have destroyed the card and asked themj to just cancel it, & send me nthe $101.00 they owe me. Could you please look into this matter for me. I have just lost my wife to breast cancer & I can do without being scammed nright now. If I get a statement from them next month & they say I owe nthem money, I'll have to massume someone has hacked ninto my online banking, identity thedft, etc.

I would also close that account if you think you've been hacked. Get your statements together and report it to FCAC or CBC's consumer help program. Can't remember the name of it.

I also have a beef with CapitalOne but the amount they owe me is much, much less than what they owe you. I had a hard time understanding what happened to you... Did you put $6000 on your card as a way to have a credit balance and then use it to pay for things? You've learned the hard way that you just can't assume a company is going to be honest. Especially an American company. You can complain to the Feds: FCAC: http://www.fcac-acfc.gc.ca/eng/contactus/index-eng.asp

I'm also in NS. Strange. Good luck.

Capital One cap1 not honoring their convenice checks

I own and operate two businesses and am preparing to start a third. I write Capital One convenience checks that are made availabe to me by Capital One for the amount of credit allocated on my card. I use these checks for purchases of materials and supplies for one of my companies. On April 3rd I checked my credit limit on my card and the amount available to me was in excess of $6, 200.00. I wrote a check and deposited into my bank account. I then purchased several thousand dollars of materials. On Sunday, (4 days after I wrote the check) I received an email from Capital One, stating they were not honoring their check and the check was returned as insufficient funds, this was due to CAP1 decreasing my credit limit. My limit was reduced without my knowldege - CAP1 states they reduced the limit on April 3r - I HAVE A CAP 1 Document showing on April 3 - I have in excess of $6, 200.00 dollars of credit available to me. I was never contact by CAP1 until after they received their conveniece check. My credit has now been adversely affected. I have been a member with CAP1 for over 10 yrs. AND never has there been an issue of my not paying my debt, on time and in full. CAP1 - did not contact me until after the fact. Although they say my limit was decreased on April 3rd - I have a document from CAP1 that shows I have over $6, 200.00 of credit available to me on APRIL 3rd. I tried for over 24hrs to get someone to call me back from CAP1 and finally after I was passed around for 7 hrs - I was told too bad so sad we cannot do anything to help you. This has crippled my business - I do not understand how a company can arbitrarily take something away without even a courtesy phone call. I have or I should say HAD excellent credit before this situation. It is my hope that something can be done to let the general public know what CAP1 is doing to their loyal customers. Especially when they have NEVER been late on payments in 10 plus years.

Capital One account closure

Transferred 9000 into a checking account, only to learn later that it went into an over draft account by accident. Now I learned that they are closing my account without a reason.. To add insult to injuries they informed me that I could not get my funds back for five days. Spend six hours today being directed in different directions. We have over 70 K at the bank in different accounts but we are being put out. Our account has been in place for over 15 years and we have multiple bills and mortgages directly linked. Major pain to change everything.

Capital One $1040.00 mistake

on 2/23 a check cleared our account. The amount of the check was supposed to be $100.00, but Capital One posted it for $1000.00 then charged us $140.00 in bank charges. I contacted them about the matter and they sent their apologies for the mistake, and stated I would need to fill our a dispute form. They also told me it would take 3-5 business days to receive my money they took.
After having a screaming fit with them on the phone, they returned the $900.00 but not the $140.00 due from bank charges I received from their $900.00 mistake.
I opened a new account with a different bank, and as soon as I receive the $140.00 they owe me, I will be closing this account.

Capital One unreasonable harassment

they are all about fraud from start to finish, they tried the title scam on me, called me at least 10 times a day for 2 years. paid a creepy repo man to follow me almost 100 miles out of state to take my care in the midde of the night from a resort.hotel for a $2000 loan which is about equal to the value of the car which was only 30 days late, had made a payment the day before they illegaly repossessed my car.

I am suing the hell out of those freaks.

I forgot to mention that they also gave me false information regarding the location of my car. They informed me it was in md, so when I returned to maryland they later told me sorry they made a mistake, the car was still in the other state. I fully believe they did this so they could hold me up and auction the car to give me a deficiency balance. They are the most miserable business entity, this only verifies that greed and money does not bring happiness, only heart attacks.

They clearly displayed unreasonable harassment and unethical actions.

Capital One 30 day late (false)

I contacted Capital One after seing they posted I was 30 days late on my credit report. In the month of June I made 3 large payments on my account the latter of them one day before my monthly statement cycle change date. I was unaware I had paid one day "early". I asked if they could remove this from my credit report and they refused insisting I was late when it was obvious I had really paid one day early. I have been a customer for 12 years and never been late before. and I was not late now This is terrible customer service and feels like customer abuse..

I placed my card into an ATM. I was not aware that the machine was out of service. I asked an employee about my card and they said I would have to wait until Monday. I was not informed of what would happen to my card. I asked for a manager and she told me her name was MIchelle. she said it was no way to return it. I was not given any information until the third time I knocked on the and asked. At that time I was given a customer service number. Everyone I came in contact with that evening were rude and didn't offer any information. I later found out you don't return cards and they are destroyed on the next business day. I took me two calls to customer service and a call to the corporate office.

Gretchen.Wang, of capital one, is a nasty, disrespectful micromanager, and intellectually lacking, dishonest, dangerously incompetent, verbally abusive, and morally corrupt individual. Gretchen Wang fosters a hostile working environment at capital one. gretchen.wang is from Taiwan and speaks limited English and can not articulate project goals, let alone execution processes. In spite of all this, she boosts a gigantic ego, one which trumps all her team mates. Gretchen Wang thinks that she is the queen of the small business data team. In addition, Gretchen Wang is a thief. Gretchen Wang steals Capital One’s corporate intelligence and sells them to competitors on a regular basis. Among the things she has sold: Capital One Small Business Rewards Model, CDW warehouse containing millions of accounts information, data models, and other sensitive inside information.
As for her management style, Gretchen Wang will berate you. She’ll abuse you. Heck, sometimes she will even take a swing at you. Gretchen Wang is without doubt among the most horrid, fear-inducing, vile bosses of all time. Gretchen Wang regularly reveals to people how much other people’s salaries are. Gretchen Wang takes all the credit from the data team, and shoulders none of the responsibilities. For instance, she took credits for the Helix conversion project, the extended pay product launch, and new data models. Take a look at the nightmares you should be thankful you don't work for her.
People are "discarded" by Gretchen Wang without any regard to ethics, corporate standards or in some cases even the law. Capital One and Gretchen Wang are an example of what is wrong with corporate America where people mean nothing and data means everything. There is a great deal of inexperience, theft coverup in management such as Gretchen Wang. They need a good dose of reality. If you are investigating Capital One as a possible employer, think twice and find someplace else.

Capital One overdue account

Acct# [protected] I want to dipute this account as I do not know anything about it or have memory of opening a Capital One account. I could not imagine at that time actually being, approved for a credit card as I was very close to foreclosure on a home mortgage at that time. These allegations are not making sense to me and as I am trying to clean up my debts, I would have found this on my credit report I do not recall it there either. Trudy Black (Barcus)

Capital One cut back the fraud protection a tad

I have a Capital One business Visa card. I have a number of recurring transactions which bill for the same amount on the same day of every month, month after month after month, and have for over 2 years now. There are 3 particular transactions that bill on the 3rd of every month. Like clockwork, on the 3rd of each month I get a call from Capital One fraud protection wanting to confirm that each of those transactions are legitimate. Complaining about fraud protection may seem ridiculous, but I am going to do it anyway!

My gripe is two-fold. First, I have asked REPEATEDLY for my account to be updated that these are ongoing monthly transactions which were not fraudulent last month, the month before that, the 12 months before that and are not suddenly fraudulent now. Yet, month after month I get called. Secondly, you call from a toll-free number that shows up as unknown on my Caller ID, which usually indicates that it's a solicitor and I don't answer the phone, but just let it rollover to voice mail. Then my card is disabled until I call in to verify the charges.

This is annoying me to the point of canceling my Capital One account and using a different card for my approximate $3, 500 worth of monthly business charges. However, the sad fact of the matter is that I have already threatened that and Capital One keeps calling every month which has clearly shown me that they just don't care if I take my business elsewhere.

If your computer system is smart enough to flag something as possible fraud, then it is smart enough to review past transactions and identify ones that have been charged every month for over a year and not flag them as fraud.

Update your records and stop with the annoying calls.

Capital One 30 day late reporting on credit reports

Back in Sept 2010 I was involved in a terrible accident. I was hospitalized for 2 months. Because of my hospitalization I was two weeks late on my credit card payment. I've called Capital One numerous times to see if they would in good faith remove the 30 day late payment that is showing on all of my credit reports.

I've never been late on any payments other than this one and am annoyed that Capital One will not help me out with this situation.

Please remove the 30 day late information from my credit reports.

Capital One very unprofessional

On October 19, 2011 my car was repossessed by a third party hired by Capital One from my home in Houston TX. When I called that same day to see why my vehicle was taken, I was told that I had 10 days to pay $1700 to retrieve my vehicle before it was taken to auction. Not only was Capital One authorized to automatically draft my car payment ($350) every month, a payment was drafted from my account the same day my car was taken from me.

I called on October 24, 2011 to make the payment of $1700 that I was told was owed only to be informed that my car was repossessed by mistake and that my account was currently up to date. A call was made to release my vehicle and I was given the third party's information to get the exact location of my car. Once I made the call to find out where my car was being kept I was told by the third party company that I needed to contact Capital One for important information regarding my vehicle. I called Capital One right back just for them to tell me that my car was shipped to an auction in Dallas, TX. I spoke with a more than a few customer service agents explaining the error each time that I was transferred and was finally able to speak to a manager that was able to have my car transported back to the third party company that first had possession of my vehicle.

On November 2, 2011 I finally regained possession of my damaged vehicle with a different key that was cut for my ignition. My car was trashed internally, oil smudged all throughout my interior; my console, cup holders, seats and passenger side floor was filled with dirt; and not to mention my windshield was completely damaged. I called Capital One the moment I retrieved my vehicle to make them aware of the damages that were made to my car while out of my possession and was told they would email me an affidavit to have notarized of the damages and mailed back to start a claim for my vehicle to be repaired. On November 5, 2011 my car completely stopped working and had to be towed directly to the Certified* Toyota dealership's service station where my car was purchased. It was after the head mechanic gave me an estimate when I was told that the key that was cut for my car caused my vehicle's computer to shut down as an anti-theft mechanism. I mailed a copy of the estimate along with the notarized affidavit to Capital One Auto Finance so that my repairs could be taken care of. Sounds like it should've been an easy transaction only it is the exact opposite!

I have called Capital One everyday to get this matter resolved, spoken to over 30 representatives and 12 supervisors to get this matter resolved. Of all the phone calls I have made I have yet to speak with the correct person to handle this matter and my calls have been disconnected by 8 of the 12 supervisors. It is December 18, 2011 and I am still without my vehicle due to the mistake that Capital One has made, now I am getting harassing phone calls about making a payment. As a result of Capital One's mistake I have missed countless days of work due this issue and is at risk of losing my job.

Capital One is very unprofessional in handling business and their customer service is HORRIBLE!
I will NEVER do business with this company in any shape, form nor fashion and I would NEVER recommend anyone to do business with Capital One at all!
