Capital One title to car

My name is Yvonne Taylor-Rice, my address is 2423 larose ave memphis, tn telephone # is [protected]. I have made several attempts to contact Capital One Auto Finance in regards to the title to my car. In 2/23/2005, I was unter chapter 13. I have my paper work from the courts were Capital One Auto Finance requested $4, 923.45 as the amount that I owe them on my car. This amount was paid to them in full. No additional amount was filed by them. I have to this date never received any other billing from Capital One Auto Finance. Paid in full means paid in full. If I owed any additional money why was it not filed? I have documentation on all of the above information.

In addition to the problem of being unable to get my title for my car. They have made my credit rating not in good standing, therefore I am unable to purchase a new car. I had to repair my car several times, spending money that I could have used to put down on a new car. I need some type of resolution to this problem. I also have a cell phone where I can reach, it is [protected]. All I am trying to do is purchase a new car under this old car law which ends by the end of September. I need my title and my account cleared on my credit report.

I am in Louisiana and also am trying to get my title for my car after bankruptcy was completed and Capital One was paid off.
I have sent letters and a copy of my registration to many addresses that were listed online and also sent an email but I have
not heard from anyone yet. Why is it so difficult to contact a consumer who has paid you off and would just like to have their title
to their vehicle?

I forgot to mention that they also gave me false information regarding the location of my car. They informed me it was in md, so when I returned to maryland they later told me sorry they made a mistake, the car was still in the other state. I fully believe they did this so they could hold me up and auction the car to give me a deficiency balance. They are the most miserable business entity, this only verifies that greed and money does not bring happiness, only heart attacks.

They clearly displayed unreasonable harassment and unethical actions.

call all 3 credit reporting agencies and the bbc, as long as you have all the verifications to support your claim, they will correct this.
then sue them, they are all about fraud from start to finish, they tried the title scam on me, called me at least 10 times a day for 2 years. paid a creepy repo man to follow me almost 100 miles out of state to take my care in the midde of the night from a resort.hotel for a $2000 loan which is about equal to the value of the car which was only 30 days late, had made a payment the day before they illegaly repossessed my car.

I am suing the hell out of those freaks.

Hy, I'm from NJ and l now im havin nightmare with this ### of capital one auto finance, like 40 days ago i had ben paid the total of my finance, so a had call them to conform that my title is gona be in my door an 1 week, so they said of course, and i was wait the frist 2 weeks and nothing again, I call them to see what's going on, they said that i have to wait cause they have to prepaired every papper work, and i said ok, what can i do, wait...now i call them everysingle day to claim about the title and I'm stil have a problem e to get my title for my car, I have never had so much trouble having busines with a bank in my life. capital one autoloan bank, costumer service and title department is the worst that l see in my life, hopefully tha bank get bankruptcy like others, and I m not gonna feel bad for the people who working there, because the bank is a piece of crap, and the workers is the same ###...they dont help, who pay they salaries.(MANADA DE IMCOMPETENTES)

Capital One auto loan paid off?

We had a 66 month contract with Capital One Auto Finance which began with the first payment due on 11/1/2003. Somewhere along the way (hurricanes and evacuations/no power or phones) the contract was extended to 68 months. On June 1, 2009 I knew that my balance was $1138.47 plus $643.76 for the late charges that we had accumulated over the course of the loan. I had been paying my $559.99 payment to them on line or through my bank since 2005. On 6/19/09 I went on line and Capital One was stating that my payment of $559.99 was due on 6/1/09. I paid the $559.99. After this payment had cleared my bank account I went back on line and Capital One is now stating that on 6/1/09 another payment of $559.99 was due and now the total due on the account is $589.76. This amount did NOT include the late charges. I called Capital One Auto Finance and was told that my contract had expired on 6/1/09 and that I was required to pay the entire $1138.47 and I had only paid $548.71 toward that amount ($11.27 had been applied to interest). I asked this agent that if we indeed did owe them $1138.47 on 6/1/09 why, when I went on line to pay our June payment did it not state that my 6/1/09 payment due was $1138.47 instead of the $559.99 that the on line account wanted for payment. I was told that my payment was applied to interest first and then to principal. I then asked why I still owed money on a loan when I had made all of my 66 payments. I was told that the additional $589.76 that I still owed was interest accrued (on a daily basis) over the course of the loan because I didn't always pay my payment on the day it was due. I agreed to pay them the $589.76 on 7/20/09 and on 8/20/09 I would pay the $643.76 in late charges. I received two sets of transaction history reports, both of them showing that my loan balance due was $589.76. On 7/20/09 I paid the loan balance due of $589.76 on line. On 7/25/09 I went back to Capital One's web site and my balance due is still $589.76 but my payment history shows that my payment of $589.76 was received on 7/20/09. I sent them a message on their web site asking why, if I paid the $589.76 on 7/20/09, was my balance owed still $589.76. Their reply on 7/26/09 was that they took my $589.76 and applied it to my late charges. I still owe them the balance of 589.76, interest on the 589.76 of 9.45 plus $54.00 in late charges.
They took my loan balance due payment and applied it to late charges because that way they could still charge me interest on the balance due. They can NOT charge interest on the late charges but they can on the balance due. Their payoff figure is only good until 8/5/09 whereupon they can, on 8/6/09 start charging me more interest on the loan balance due figure of $589.76.
Can I legally get them to reverse where they applied my 589.76 so that they can NOT charge me interest?

Just paid off my car loan. I purchased a car last July 17 and paid it off, with $2000 of interest. Have two credit cards with Capital One, If you pay on time you will not have any issues.

My wife and I have made every payment on time and most of the time payed extra. Got someone to buy vehicle from us for payoff after my wife lost her job a year and a half after loan origination. I called to see what the procedure was for paying off vehicle the fastest way so I could transfer the title to new buyer. Called four times to make sure what I had been told was accurate and every customer service rep. said the same thing; pay with certified funds, send it overnight and title will be released in five business days! So the buyer gives me a cashiers check(certified funds), we overnight to Capital One Payment Processing in Monterrey Park, CA, called two days later, [protected], to see if they had gotten it and when it will be processed and title released, some foreigner tells me that since its certified funds it will take 7 to 10 days to process. I'm like WTF? Then I begin to explain to her what the customer service rep's. had told me and all she can keep saying is, "I apologize, but they were misinformed." I speak to her supervisor, who is also a foreigner tells me the same thing! I don't want your apology, I want the title to the vehicle I just overnighted a cashiers check for. Then she says, "After they process it, it will take another five days to release title." OMG! 15 freakin days when I was told 5? REALLY? By this time all I can do is cuss this ### out! How hard is it to follow your own policies! I will never deal with these idiots again; once they release my title! I foresee this going to litigation, bunch of stupid, foreign, unethical, asinine crooks.
MAY GOD HAVE MERCY, if you get a loan through Capital One Auto Finance.

Everybody's comments sound like what were getting ready to go through. Were down to the end of our payments, but being told we

owe more than the term agreement, But i have not seen anyone answer if there is any legal action that you could take.

Someone please answer if we need to get an attorney. thanks

I had a loan that was always paid on time. When the residual balance was 1540.59. I called to verify the pay off amount - they confirmed it was correct if paid by due date. I made the payoff before the due date. Expected to see the vehicle title the following month, received another bill stating "14.03 due with an account balance of 13.99"? promptly paid another $15. The following month no title rather another bill "14.12 due with a 14.07 balance" All the checks have cleared and these guys are fools and crooks. Now acting BBB and an law firm to extract a title for a car that was paid off. Capitol 1 Auto Finance Crooks to the core!

We had a 72 month auto loan with this bottom feeder company back in 2006 (had to go with them because of another bottom feeder self insured workers compensation company). We had our payments automatically set up through our bank to be paid every month, and they were. At one time, we were 2 months ahead, because of making an extra payment when we could. They called on Oct. of 2012 congratulating us on meeting the obligation of the loan. Since that call, we get many harassing phone calls daily, telling us to disregard that phone conversation, and that we owe anywhere fron 975.00 to 1300.00 (can't get their story straight). They said that they found one payment not made, changing from in 2006 to June of 2012, to October of 2012. They also said there was a deferment from 2006 or 2008 "they are not sure". What they are probably referring to was way back when they said a payment was not made, and my bank had the proof that it was, and even spoke with them on the phone during a three way conversation. I called and called about the "late fees" on this pseudo skipped payment that turned into a late payment. I also wrote notes regarding it on their inaccurate statements until they stopped sending us statements. Bottom line is that we financed a 16, 000.00 truck and on our original paperwork stating that with interest would be paying little over 20, 000.00, and we have paid them almost 35, 000.00 and cannot get our title. We speculate they will claim we will never have them paid in full. They even changed the original paperwork to my husbands loan to my loan. There is a lawyer that will look at the records for a discounted cost of 40.00, then submit other charges from there. It is a sin that our honestly earned income helped bail these criminals out, and they are still calling the shots. What type of attorney could help assist us in obtaining our title?

I got a auto loan with Capital One February 2006. Over the course of the loan, I took advantage around the holidays of deferring some payments. This pushed my loan mature date back to June 21, 2012. Around the beginning of June, I called Capital One to see if I could possible get an extension because if I paid my regular payment, $584, I would need until Sept. 2012 to pay off loan. The agent was very nice and even told me as long as I set up automatic payments for my June, July, Aug. and Sept. payments then I would be fine. No late charges would be assessed. Then noticed that he could only to 3 out at a time and told me to call back to set up final payment. After June payment came out and July rolls around, I get a letter from Capital One stating that if I didn;t pay balance in full that my vehicle would be repossessed. Called Capital One and this agent told me this was a letter basically stating that if I don't follow through with payment arrangement my vehicle would be repossessed. After July payment came out I called back to check on status because repo letter scared me. This agent tells me that the first agent had not businesses telling me that I was granted a 3 month extension because they don't do that, but needed to set up my final payment to avoid the repo. She could not promise me my credit would be affected. Checked my credit the end of July, and I am now 30 days late. Called Capital one. Even got a late charge on account. Agent removed late fee because she didn't know why it appeared because I was not late due to extension. August payment comes out and I get a 60 day late on credit report, but no late charge with Capital One on account. Sept. payment comes out paying loan off in full and now a 90 day late appears on credit report. I have disputed this with Capital One 3 times and each time they tell even though no late charges appeared on account, it was still late and there is nothing that can be done about it. What rights do I have and what should I do?

Listen, I have been dealing with Capital One for the same amount of time, maybe a year longer. Our loan sounds exactly like ours except the dollar amount. My husband is not a very good money manager. We have separate checking accounts and I am solely responsible for making sure that rebuilding our credit is my department. I pay all our bills early (generally the day I receive the bill) it gets paid. Anyway, my husband used to allow Capital One to automatically withdraw his monthly car payment from his checking account until last March, 2011, when I had him pay a one time $30 fee at Security Bank (his bank) to rescind this automatic authorization. A couple of months ago, my husband was doing his daily banking and discovered that he was bouncing checks right and left. He said he hadn't written any checks, and he knew where his balance was supposed to be after he put his paycheck in. Long story short, if anyone rescinds Capital One's authorization to automatically debit your account for a car payment, make sure that your bank honors this legal document. They have been allowing Capital One to take the car payment out on the 3d of the month. I pay this car payment on the 16th of every month from my online checking account at another bank. Anyway, not only is Capital One breaking a federal law by continuing to get their hands on his money and me making a payment two weeks later, they are greedy sons-of-@$(hes! I have talked with his bank and they supposedly have this resolved now...but Capital One is charging my husband a $25 NSF fee and a $25 late fee because they now cannot take it out on the 3d of each month. If anyone USED to pay their car payment this way and changed it for whatever reason, please, please, please...go into your online account and check your statements and make sure that they haven't got a little top heavy on Capital One's end...and less on your end. It is a federal law and if they try to dodge this notice next month...really I am ALMOST HOPING THEY DO TRY TO DO IT AGAIN then maybe someone will finally take notice of my ongoing persistent complaints regarding Capital One's sleezy business behavior and their ruthless ways of conducting business. I am currently trying to track down the last six months since this was put in place and see how many times they have gotten away with this and we just happened to catch onto it two months ago! My husband is not a very good money manager and relies on my persistence in getting the record straight and paid according to original terms. We even pay more than what originally was in the loan payment amount...but, I cannot wait until we can pay off this note and I hope I am dead in my grave before ever coming cross dealing with Capital One ever again. BUYERS BEWARE...CHECK YOUR ACCOUNTS. I also tried to check his loan account (Capital One) online, but got locked out because I tried one too many times ... and do you think they are going to help me in anyway to reactivate this account? I think I will try to set it up again and go look. They started charging late fees from the very first day the loan was authorized thru the car dealership (big mistake there)...you know how you have a month until you are required to make your 1st car payment (after the initial sticker shock) and dealings...they started the late fees since the day we signed the loan agreement. I will not go quietly into the night until this is resolved...this is my mission in life to get my justice (not necessarily revenge ) and make Capital One Auto Finance honor a legal binding agreement. I will not give up until I am satisfied that I owe no more than I am legally responsible for and nothing more! Thanks for letting me vent...sometimes, I just have to go to the shout out board and let loose. If anyone ever learns anything by being associated with Capital One...you appreciate the important of safeguarding your credit...it is as pure as one's virginity!

I cannot agree more. Capital One is ruthless and unscrupulous...we used to have the monthly payment taken out of my husband's bank account...and 16 days early to boot! Then he changed to a new bank and I stopped the automatic debit from his account in March, 2011. Well, low and behold, he couldn't figure out why his account was always overdrawn and NSF fees being charged. He paid the bank $30 to stop Capital One being authorized to automatically help themselves as it were. I pay them on the 17th of every month (the original due date) and I also pay a couple of dollars more a month despite the loan agreement. Well, low and behold, despite Capital One being notified that they no longer had authorization to take the automatic monthly car payment out (this was March 2011) this is September 2011...they continue every month to take it out and the bank has been caught not honoring their own legal notice to cease transactions. Capital One receives their payment ON TIME in FULL AMT and they charge us a $25 late fee for NSF fees, as well as my husband's bank charging him $30 for NSF fees. Totally unacceptable. I am trying to figure out just how long this has been allowed/going on because he throws away his statements. We have separate accounts, he doesn't know how to manage money. I am the bookkeeper regarding all the household bills. Just want you all to be on the look out if you had automatic withholding for your car payment and you thought you paid to cancel that authority ... you might want to check your bank's records and make sure that no funny business has been going on. OR you may owe less than you think! But since we are all here and we all deal with Capital One, we know that can't be the case...they never cheat themselves now do they!? I am waiting on a PI settlement and want to pay them off, but I am going to have my attorney handle this for us because I have read on the Complaint Board that people who paid off their loan, had an extremely difficult time in receiving the title to the vehicle, if they ever did! I will hopefully be dead before I ever have to deal with this outfit again!

When you receive any statement from a legitamite company that bills you for an account, it clearly states the amount that is owed with late fees. Also, late fee amounts are stated at the time of purchase of vehicle. If you pay any account late * (If there is a late fee) that amount will be noted and requested with payment. When you send your payment including that stated late fee, it should be clearly used as such. If it is your intention to send $21. 00 to be applied to principal then there would be no need to add it as a late fee. I can clearly distinguish a late fee from a principal payment, there is no way i would send a $21. 00 payment to be used on the "principal". Especially when billing statement clearly states that a $21. 00 late fee is due and added to current payment due. I always indicate how much i am paying and why! That's how i handle my business. Capital one auto finance deliberately does not post late fees in order for it to accrue and they make profit! Don't just wash your hands of any unfair situation, make others aware and contact others to try and make a difference! (Businesses can make a profit with out ripping off consumers)

Capital One interest accruing on a 0% offer

I recently took advantage of a 0% balance transfer offer on my Capital One card. My card had no balance on it prior to the transfer, so I thought it would be a good deal. After the transfer, it started accruing interest. I emailed the customer service on their website, and I got a response confirming I have 0% on balance transfers. That didn't answer my question, so I asked again why there is interest accruing when there is 0% interest. I got the exact same response, down to the letter. They didn't even read my email. Then I called them. A guy who spoke poor English did not have the answer. He tried to explain the interest was from past purchases which had long since been paid off. It still made no sense to me, so he tried to transfer me to someone else but in the process, he disconnected me. I emailed them again asking to please explain why my balance transfer is accruing interest. I got no reply for four days. Enraged, I just paid off the balance, and the very next day I got an email back saying there is no balance on my account so they don't know what I'm talking about. It's astonishing to even think about their complete disregard and reckless faulty advertising they provide their customers.

i took advantage of a 0% interest offer from Capital One 2 years ago, when I accepted the offer it was for 12 months. during the 12th month I recieved a letter from Capital One stating "...we have decided to renew your promotional rate period. You'll continue to enjoy the same promotional purchase rate you are paying today until January 2011." In July 2010 I began recieving interest charges on the account so I called the company and after talking with 3 reps I finally got an interest credit, only to have to repeat the whole cycle every month for the next 3 months. Last month (October) I went through the whole thing again, including being disconnected, and did not recieve a credit. The rep I spoke with gave no regard whatsoever to the letter in my hand. There surely should be some stiff penalty for false business practices of this sort. Will I stay with Capital One? - Why not pay interest to a company that will be straight up honest about the interest charges to start with?

Capital One calling me on my job!!!

On July 28, 2009 a agent from Capital One Auto Finance called me on my job. The last time I checked it was against the law for a company to call someone on there job about a late payment.

There is not a law stating they cannot call you while you are at work. If you owe them a debt, they can call whatever number you provided them with at the time of application, including your job. Although there is not a law that prohibits them from calling you, if you tell them you cannot take personal calls at work the calls should stop.

If you dont want to be called at work dont give them your work number. If you have no other choice but to give your work number, give them your work number than call customer service to have the number removed.

Capital One - hold lien of paid off vehicles too long

I have paid my Capital One Auto Loan in full, having never missed a payment in nearly 4 years, and sold the vehicle. Now, they say they cannot release the Lien on the vehicle as I used "unsecured funds" to pay off the loan. Capital One customer service

I have never posted a complaint against any company until now.
I have taken over my dad’s finances, and I have worked out payments with 10 other banks. Capital One is the only one that has refused to help. Although on the billing statements they tell you to call if you need help. I have been told by customer service that they are unable to help me at this time, and that I need to call back in a few days/weeks. Well this has gone on for over 10 months. I have been making payments on my dad’s behalf for the last 6 months, yet this week Capital One called me every day, sometimes twice a day asking for more payments.
Again I keep trying to work things out for the last ten months, and the company tells me to call back later because they are un –willing to help.
I have never had an issue with any bank like I am having with Capital One. If you get a chance to have a Capital One credit card, I can not express in polite terms to turn them down.
There are many webpages complaining about Capital One. There is even a Facebook group

I am going through some rough financial times as a result of being out of work for 6 months, I now have a job but need someone to work with me on my Capital One credit card payments. They refuse to help their customers, they say they have no such program. What kind of customer service is this? Perhaps they would rather me file bankruptcy and get nothing?

i try to tell c1 i have no job dont call me during the early morning or at a daily basis it ticking me off but they dont listen to me at all i mean what they want me to do rob a bank and get sent to prison and i tell the judge and jury c1 are like a pack of wolfs for blood

i paid a late fee for a late payment in july. it was 15.00 dollars. know my new statement says that my payment in august is 15.00 dollars less than my normal payment. the man at customer service says that my late fee money isnt applied to my july bill, its taken off my august payment, so i now owe 15 dollars less in august. does this make any sense to any one out there?

Capital One rate increase/early payments

Capital one will not be in my wallet either. I will be paying them off this month! Recently I had to choose to cancel my card from use to keep my interest rate @ 4.9 but I missed the cutoff date by one day. Now I pay 13.9% interest. I was never late and always paid more than the minimum amount due. Oh, recently I paid 3 times in the month of june and was charged a late fee!? I called them and they said I paid it too early... Not what I call top notch customer service but the bottom end of the customer being serviced.
Try to find a customer service number on your statement... All you'll find is a number to take more of your money.

Capital One screwing people

Long story short--they screwed me out of four $35.00 bank card nsf charges to the tune of $140. I closed my account and am paying a personal loan off as quickly as possible by check (it was on auto-pay through Cap One) from my new bank, Red River Bank of Pineville, Louisiana. They eventually sent me my $140 by cashier's check in the mail (woolly bully). My problems aside, I went online and found out what a truly horrid organization they are running. Their credit card practices (I don't have one, never have, don't want one) are a legal scam. I hope they fail in Louisiana soon--we have enough problems in this state already. Maybe we should all go back to putting our money under our mattresses and paying everything in cash like in the "good ol' days". Wish I could say I was kidding on that one! Thanks for hearing me out.

I agree- whatever happened to the good ol' days? Cash never lies, like Capital One does. I live in NY and there are Capital One banks all over this place like flies on a dog turd. Anyway, I opened up an account with them about a month ago- big mistake! I was ripped off with three NSF charges because, apparently, the purchase and ATM withdrawls I made with my bank card were "pending" at the same time two checks I deposited were. But according to what their computer system said, I had the funds available when I made the transactions. Long story short, I'm out $45. Oh yeah, they also put holds on checks forever and the funds are never available right away. This is, by far, the worst bank I've ever banked with. Liars, scammers, so many negative comments I have about them! Shut them all down!

Capital One customer service

I just called capitol one [protected] to cancel payment protection. As usual, the woman on the phone tried to explain the benefits of this service on and on suggesting I should keep it. When I said "I don't want to have more info about this service, I just want to cancel it" she just said OK it is canceled starting today and she hanged up immediately while I was trying to ask for the confirmation number for this cancellation... I don't want to blame the company for rude people like this but I was so annoyed...I was talking and she hanged up! Another issue is that they better hire people for phone services with an understandable accent. Sometimes i have to ask them to repeat because I don't understand their English well!

When you call them to activate your credit card, make sure that they don't charge you with creditinform and payment protection, make sure you ask about those..

Capital One my interest rate was increased from 7% to 17%

I have been a customer of Capital One for several years. During that time I have made all payments as agreed and have not been late or over the limit.

I opened the account based on an interest rate of 7.99%. This was not a promotional interest rate. I received a notice May 15, 2009 advising me that my interest rate would increase from 7.99% to 17.99%. beginning August 1, 2009. The new interest rate is levied on the EXISTING balance and any new charges.

If I do not accept the offer, Capital One will close my account, make the balance due and payable and report my account to credit reporting agencies as closed by lender.

In addition I was advised that their policy had changed toward past due payments. If I were to miss a single payment, my interest rate would increase 39%.

I assumed this was an act of usury but have since found that our government had not placed limitations on what a charge card company could charge.

I called Capital One to find out if I had triggered something that would cause my interest rate to increase to such a high level. I was told that the decision was a business decision and was not affected by my payment performance.

In a time when so many are defaulting on their credit cards, I am dumbfounded that Capital One would inflict such high rates on a paying customer. It is my intention to pay the account to zero and leave it open so that my credit is not affected by a decrease in credit availability.

I will not in the future engage in any business transactions with Capital One.

I have two accts with Capital One and they have put me in a similar situation; by claiming that they sent me correspondence that would have freed me from their predatory credit card practices had I actually received it. This correspondence was supposed to notify me and give me the opportunity to Opt Out of their new terms which, if I chose to Opt Out, would 1) close my accts and 2) freeze my interest rate so they could not increase the interest rate over the balance of the time it took to pay off the debt.

There was no way that I could have paid off my debt quickly enough and hang on the accounts to minimize the impact on my credit score. If they had actually sent me the Opt-Out as they said they did, I would have to opt out because I owed over $3k on each of the two accts. and the new terms would have given Cap One a hammer to hit me over the head with unlimited interest rate increases on the total amount that I owed.

I sent them a letter disputing the fact that they ever sent me any opt-out notices and have refused to pay them one penny until this matter is resolved. They claim sending me a notice on 2/2/09 and 5/12/09 on purchases and cash advances respectively. By the time I found out what they were up to, the dates for opting out had expired and they would not give me the time of day concerning that issue. Despite my formal Dispute Letter on each of my two accounts, Capit One is trying to disregard my dispute they did not sent me a proper timely notice and are just mailing to me over and over again the terms for which the opt out had already expired and the new term now apply.

I asked for proof of that they ever mailed me proper and timely correspondence about these important term changes and opt-out opportunity. They sent me a FORM LETTER that did not address the details of my dispute and have continued to pretend as if I'm just late paying on my two accts. They are the worst, and I refuse to pay them another cent of my very meager and dwindling finances until this is resolved.

I would love to get involved in a class action suit against Capital One--I know I'm not the only one they are trying to bamboozle with these new terms. Macy’s tried to do the same thing, but they have been sensible enough to know that maintaining good faith with their customers and took the high road in resolving the dispute I had with them. Macy’s was terrific—they put my interest rate back to what it was before the Opt-Out and even reduced the interest lower until the debt is totally paid off.

Capital One harassing calls

[protected] keeps calling my cellphone. I do not know how they got it and they keep calling my dad and stepmom from 8:00 am till 11:00 pm. They keep telling them I do not live there. The person from the company will say yeah right and will hang up. Other times, they call right back. They have told them to stop calling and they are told not until they talk to me.

Capital One violation of your civil rights

Ok, tons of people complain about this capital one payment protection plan, they denied my claim, a 100% disabled veteran. But did you know that capital one and it's administrator probably violated your civil rights? When you file for capital one payment protection activation, you are sent a form from stonebridge benefit services inc. This form has a place to sign, the form even warns you that leaving anything blank, will delay your benefits. Like most people that are unemployed, disabled - we are just looking for help to do the right thing and pay our bills.
Well, besides the joke about "who is in your wallet" it has become "who is in your medicine cabinet"
The form that they are having you sign is a blanket authorization for both capital one and stonebridge benefit services inc to have complete access to all your medical records, diagnosis, even your prescriptions! Giving this authorization is made a condition to getting the benefits you paid for! This form violates your privacy that is granted under federal law! As this form does not disclose that signing is optional, it violates law under code of federal regulations. If you have signed one of these forms - immediatly call stonebridge benefit services inc and revoke this authoriaztion! You might wish to contact your state attorney general, as violations of privacy under c. F. R. Can be sued for, you might wish to consult a lawyer. Even if capital one paid the claim, they are still violating your rights! If you wish a copy of this form email me at [protected]@yahoo.com

Capital One denied/ civil rights violation

I just wish to thank Capital One for giving me the privilage of paying for Payment Protection for 6 years and then denying a 100% disabled veteran Payment Protection as advertised. I also wish to thank Stonebridge Benefit Services Inc for it's part in violating my civil rights granted under federal law. If you have ever signed one of Capital One's Payment Protection Activation forms, It is a blanket authorization for both Stonebridge Benefit services Inc, and Capital One. As required by law, these forms do NOT disclose that they are optional. If you signed one of these forms, I would contact your Attorney General for your state, And tell them the story. Companies that thrive on STEALING and VIOLATING peoples rights that are unemployed, disabled and unable to work, need to be made to pay for thier actions. If you need a copy of this form, send email to [protected]@yahoo.com . This form even allows Capital One to full access of your medical records EVEN prescriptions! I think it would be safe to say that it just might be a violation of your rights under the Codes of Federal Regulations, which is also a violation of your privacy.
When a company has to TRICK you into signing a form, isn't that a SCAM ?

And this is why you fail to mention authorization is optional ? And your forms allow Capital One access to medical records and prescriptions ? From YOUR form - -- -

I declare the above answers to be true; and I authorize any person, institution, or organization in possession of information concerning my medical or employment history, Including any hospitalization, consultation, diagnosis, treatment, or prescriptions, to furnish CAPITAL ONE and /or it's administrators with such information including copies of all employment and medical records. And to receive my benefits I paid for over 6 years, I need to sign this ? This violates my rights under fereral law! and also allows Capital One to invade my privacy.

They denied a 100% disabled veteran ? I showed this to my boss, he is a disabled veteran, and a lawyer. He is very good, he just won his last case. The punitive damages was 7 digits. He told me that he would love a shot at Capital One. He told me he would take the case on contingency, so no money up front. All he requires is a copy of the document that requires you to provide medical information to Capital One. I would love to be a fly on the wall when they ask Capital One why do you need to know what prescriptions he takes.

Capital One my capital one credit card rate increased from 4.8% to 15.9%!

I too am completely in shock by the lack of disregard and disrespect I was given by Capital One after they increased my rate from 4.8% to 15.9%. I am a perfect customer of about 3 years who uses my card on a daily basis and has never been late on a payment. I typically would pay off my (usually very high) balance each month. Note that banks (credit card issuers) make lots of money off of us credit card users by charging their merchants a percentage of our usage. So, them saying they make no money off of us "convenience" card users is an outright lie. I feel bad now for the small business owners who had to pay fees to Capital One for my usage.

When I called general customer service they explained that due to the economy they had to make a business decision that will impact millions of customers and that there was absolutely nothing he or anyone could do and since it was after 11PM CST I would have to call back tomorrow. The people who have the authority to reduce the rate are no longer available for the day was his next response. I called back the next day and talked to one of those so called Senior Supervisors at a different number that I was given by customer service the night before and I once again described my dissatisfaction in a calm voice. After being talked down to and him saying if I paid my balance each month I wouldn't have to worry about the rate anyway and that I should take my $10, 000 balance and transfer it to another card that offers a great balance transfer rate. I asked what my incentive would be to stay as a Capital One customer and he had nothing.

My Discover Card issues cash back (I have $150 so far). My Chase card offers flight miles (I have around 30, 000) and I get points for gifts with American Express (over 30, 000) and Citibank (about 10, 000). I said my incentive to use Capital One was for the lower interest rate (I had 4.8% or lower the entire time I was a customer) and with that now up to 15.9% I have no reason to stay. So, with nothing to offer me and him telling me he was "the top of the food chain in the Call Center" and that there was nothing he could do and nothing anyone would EVER be able to do, HE decided my time was up on the call. He then told me that there were other calls in the queue and that he had to go and hung up on ME. I am amazed that this company would let go such a great customer with an even greater future potential by an uncaring, disrespectful jerk like that. I had to actually call back to close my account and that is exactly what I did. I transferred my $10, 000 balance to Bank of America at 0% for 6 months with no transaction fee.

I understand the banks are suffering too in this tough economy, but so dearly are the consumers. So, instead of sending a passionate personalized letter explaining the need to raise interest rates, they send an impersonal and almost threatening in language change of account notification brochure. Did Capital One ever hear about targeted and segmented communications? Do they even know how to communicate properly to their customers when making such impactful changes to their customers accounts, especially their best customers? although I agree that no customer, no matter how delinquent they are, deserve this type of treatment, the "good and best" customers deserve more. The power of personalization goes a long way and if they would have planned their communication strategy about this with a legal sized letter with a thoughtful explanation and understanding of the hard impact this will have on many, the severity of these changes wouldn't seem as bad and we wouldn't have been so offended. They treat their consumers who are also struggling in these hard times by rewarding them with disrespect and a rate increase of 3X higher. Unbelievable!

This was a show stopper for me and my husband. I have the power of word of mouth and so do you, so don't ever bank with Capital One ever in this lifetime and make sure you let everyone and anyone know and they will follow suit. Capital One's logo is "What's In Your Wallet? Well, Capital One, it's not your card!

I too am in the same boat. I've been a Capital One customer for 10 years. I have never ever paid a bill late with them, 99% of the time pay my balance in full every month, I have a credit limit on this card of over $30, 000, and after recently getting my credit reports found that I have a credit score of 890.

In the last billing cycle I noticed my rate went from 7.9% to 17.9%.

I emailed Capital One twice and both times got back "copy and paste" answers that did not even mention the questions I asked.

I then called their customer service folks and got the same (it sounded rehearsed even) response that the above person did. "With the way the economy is we had to raise everyone's rates...blah blah blah... it isn't just you...blah blah...you pay your balance in full each month so the interest rate really doesn't matter anyway...blah blah...if you look elsewhere I think you're going to find credit hard to find..."

I asked to speak to a customer retention specialist and the representative said there was no reason to because under the current guidelines they are under they couldn't do anything for me either. After repeated attempts I finally gave up on this angle.

The Customer rep eventually offered me a rate in the ballpark of 14% if I stayed with them. Thank but no thanks.

My local credit union offers a card at 12% fixed, no annual fee and 1.5% rewards. Guess it's time to leave the big boys and go local.

Wells Fargo, pay attention. You're next on my list. Paying less than .15% for my savings account is ridiculous.

Looks like the Credit Unions are going to be the biggest winners in this economy. Time to look local.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. They keep advertising "What's in your wallet"? which I feel is illegal since it is deceptive advertsing- I am filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commision against Capital One. A trojan horse is in my wallet and out popped an army that drained my wallet. I am subject to them raising rates- they are now subject to stop advertising like they do- they can't come across as protecting their customers from insane interest rate increases and then do the exact opposite of what they advertise and then keep advertising. Doesn't work that way Capital One- you guys just lost a lot of customers with this 400% rate increase- and trust me, I won't be coming back.

CapitalOne has a history of late posting made on time payments so they charge late fees and increase the interest rate. The FTC fined them $3 million for this, however they are stealing so much from their customers that they are willing to pay other token fines from the government. Organized crime works by bribing our elected officials.

Capital One increase of rate without notice

I have never been late or gone over my limit. I needed a balance transfer and was offered a 4.99 fixed rate by Capital One. I took it I never used the card except for the transfer. Well much to my surprise my rate change happened this billing cycle. I thought it was mistake. My rate went to 14% I called one Sat morning and was told I UNDERSTAND by several representatives but there is nothing we can do.

That I should be happy that my rate was 14% and not higher. Finally I got a supervisor and I was told that since I did not reply by April when a statement was sent out in Feb that my rate changed and that was final. I never received this so called statement everything I do is online. I was told that they sent it via my physical address and I probably lost it. When I complained telling them I am customer in good standing they did not care. I was told that because of the economy they changed the rates, that I was notified, and that was that. I could go to a different company if I wanted to.

I could not believe it I called again, emailed, even had a so called manager call me on the phone and again was told I UNDERSTAND I even had one representative tell me I'm a single dad and my rate went up 24.99?!?!?!? I can't wait to close this account.

THEY DON'T CARE THEY WOULD RATHER GET MORE PEOPLE AND HAVE THEM DEFAULT THEN USE THE BAIL OUT MONEY TO BAIL THEM OUT. DO NOT USE CAPITAL ONE!

I don't understand the complaint, really. When you initially signed up for the credit card, you receive the terms and conditions, and in there it states they can change the APR at their leisure for any reason at all.
You could have declined...

Then later, just like Chase, Citi, Bank of America etc, they raised the APR's across the board. They notify all customers by mail of the change, with the option that they can "lock" the original APR if you just "close" the account to any new charges and continue paying your balance off as usual.

But you either didn't keep up with address changes or you discarded the notice thinking it was junk mail (you may have even given it a cursory glance and thought it wasn't something important.. that happens alot these days. Its why companies get away with so much, everyone is so nonchalant about their personal finances)

You can always try opening a new card and transferring your capital one balance to it. Or taking out a loan with a lower rate to pay off the credit card. You do have options (well unless your credit is bad).

Capital One four years after account was closed, they suddenly have charged me an annual fee

I closed my Capital One Credit Card 4 years ago when I was living in Florida because I never used it. I closed it with a zero balance and I didn't want to continue paying a $50 annual service fee for a card I didn't use. After cancelling it with their outsource people in India or Pakistan, I thought it was taken care of. Three months later, I get a statement showing a $50 annual fee again for them. I call and get India again, explain I have cancelled my card three months prior, and get assured it is taken care of. Needless to say, it took me four months of phone calls to get this charge off of my closed account and get the card closed. Three years ago, I moved to Texas, and all of a sudden I start getting letters from my credit card companies saying they are raising my interest rate because of a delinquent account. I request a copy of my credit report, and lo and behold, Capital One has charged me a $50 annual service fee on a card that was closed four years ago! That was in February, and here we are in June, and I have spoken to 6 Account Managers and probably 50 people from India just to GET to the Account Managers. They finally show I have a zero balance, but they FORGOT to show that I never had a late payment and they also show that THEY cancelled my card! This company should be investigated for Fraud. This seems to be an on-going problem with this company. Why aren't the Attorney General's in each state investigating this company! How many people does this have to happen to before they realize this is an on-going problem with them. These are the "Account Managers" I have spoken with to get this resolved:

Capital One false winner of a shoppers sweepstakes

I received a letter, with a check for $4, 993.00, stating that all I had to do was to forward the necessary taxes of, $2, 995.00 by westerunion/moneygram. After sending the money, they would send to me by Fedex, $245, 007, 000.

I also had to contact my calm agent, to find further clarifications, as indicated within 5 business days.

I received one of these checks yesterday and was skeptical...the ole too-good-to-be-true thing. The check part did weigh on my mind though and perhaps one of the greatest atrocities is that this company gives people false hope. I hope they go down in flames for playing with the public's emotions and trust for their own financial gain. I'm sure a special place in hell is reserved for Nicky Boyd, Gloria Kennedy, and the rest of Capital One Securites, Inc.

Received scam check in the mail... Address given is now 140 King St. New Market, Ontario L3Y8Z1
Nicky Boyd is the Claim Agent
Letter is signed by a Promotion Mngr: Gloria Kennedy
Bank address on check is from New York, NY - check signed by Sheila Harris

Very real looking. Mine stated the City National Bank was in Beverly Hills CA. Thanks for all the posts. I was tempted to cash it just to see what would happen. But I think ripping it up is the way to go. I'm glad the FBI is on it. Thanks!

My husband also received this check for $4, 993.00 and he initially called Nicky Boyd at [protected], the voicemail was filled but just by reading the attach letter you have a feeling deep down in your gut that it's not legit. My husband wanted to cash the check, but I was seriously against it so after researching on line we came up to this website (thank you) so we greatly appreciate the infomation listed here and hope that this person gets caught...

Today I got one too. No postmark...A little excitment. Actually postmarked 6/22/2009. Real looking check..You can actually feel the signature. Tuition here I come. ooops not real so you say. I had a feeling it was wrong. Good feeling while it lasted though I never remember signing up for a sweepstakes. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll keep on working. Sharon

I received the same check today in the mail, and I knew immediately that it was a scam as I do not enter sweepstakes or drawings. I signed online to report it and found these postings. I hope no one cashed this check that they recieved. My roommate tried to get me to take it to the bank because it looked so real, I don't think so. Tear it up, burn it, do whatever you have to do to get rid of it but do not cash it. I didn't call Nicky because I knew it was a fake. Be smart people!

Capital One will not help customers

I have Capital One Auto. Wanted to refinance, was told they do not refinance there loans, I wanted to defur
one payment. I was told no, so this made me fell behind one month. My payment is $479. The interest is very high. They call at lease 30 times a day. I also had a visa with them. Called for a pay off in 2008, paid it off and they still sent a bill for interest. When calling them to tell them I had no balance it was paid off, Capital one said they would fix it. It never happened. This when back a forth for 3 months, every month the charges got higher and higher . I will be paying off my car loan in July. I will never deal with them again. Stay away from Capital One no matter how good it sounds. Raleigh NC

Capital One making good customers pay for bad ones

After 7 years as a loyal customer that ALWAYS paid on time and with a credit score of 765 I expected to be treated with the respect that my careful credit management deserves. BUT, that did not stop Capital One from sending me a APR INCREASE of 9% over my previous rate of 6.9%.
When I called to complain and request a reconsideration based on my RECORD and not on their balance sheet, I was told by some guy in India named Saron (ID#JAE169) that NO ONE at Capital One could do anything for me because of rules and regulations?
Aren't we all sick and tired of GREEDY corporations treating people like ignorant children?
Unless consumers STAND up and refuse to do business with companies that CHEAT good customers nothing will ever change.
Please contact your local and national government, media and friends and family and call for a BOYCOTT of unfair practices by companies.
IF we all stood together there is NOTHING we couldn't accomplish. Companies might actually learn that they have to treat customers with respect and not just as a source of revenue. PLEASE JOIN ME!

Many people have been getting these notices from Capital One lately. I just received two of them, one for each of my Capital One credit card accounts, a day apart from each other, increasing my rates by astronomical amounts as well. While one of those accounts is relatively new, I've had the other for 6 or 7 years, and I've never had a late payment, overlimit, etc. on either account! I have a balance on the older card, so I had no choice but to cancel it to decline the new rate so I can continue paying it down at my current rate, but I'm sure it's also going to lower my credit score because one of my oldest credit cards will now be closed. We also have 2 auto loans with Capital One Auto Finance, also paid faithfully every month. I just can't believe their greed!
