Capella University They say I owe them

i was apart of the capella family until I could not walk nor stand nor sit just lay for 2weeks and I had to drop my classes because I did not want to be behind. I sent them a written doctors note that stated I had a lumbar strain and a pinched sciatic nerve that was causing me to not be able to function and operate. But they still say i owe them 1500 dollars. And now they are reporting this on my credit and I need them to get that off without me giving them a dime. Any suggestions!

Capella University Fraud and horrible school

Capella lied to me after I completed all the traditional classes for a PHD program and would not allow me to submit a dissertation or take the final exam. I am out $100, 000 + and have 15 worthless classes. Capella only asks for more money to take a Masters degree. What about the 15 PHD classes with a 4.0 GPA Capella? Capella's answer is that I can transfer 4 of the PHD level classes for a few of the masters program. 4 classes then what I pay for more classes just for you to not to allow to submit the dissertation for a masters. Then NO school will accept any transfer credits from Capella. DO NOT GO TO CAPELLA! If anyone has issues please spread the word and also file with the BBB. I filed and awaiting feedback from Capella. Capella should not be A+ with the BBB. They should F-. AVOID Capella University. The education is horrible and the staff is arrogant and will not make any decisions or answer any questions directly. Just a bunch of lawyers working at Capella.

If students are not successful at the end of a program it is entirely the fault of the school for either bilking them of their financial aid, or there is something else going on you are unaware of. They know it is nearly impossible to take them to task alone or fight their millions as the LAWS AREN'T IN PLACE TO PROTECT STUDENTS. This is especially true now as MN has ruled in 2009 there is no fiduciary duty to you which is misguided justice and unethical crap. Your committee and chair hold your future professional life (thus personal finances) in their hands. You can complain to the state attorney general and ombudsman office or credentialing body which does nothing. Be sure you exhaust their biased academic standards committee and do not accept a master's. Since these are well, researchers they know they are completely incapable of policing themselves which is why an alternative dispute resolution should be required if they seek funding. If a person is not provided with what they need to complete successfully, it's the schools responsibility who accepted them in the first place. If they can get the money they are in, there is no other criteria unfortunately, so the system then breaks down. Tons of terrible dissertations from this big business. Online courses don't always transfer; especially towards a license. It is up to the school to inform their candidates, and to provide what is needed such as cohorts to lend support. The ROI on the degree is totally compromised, and see Harkin report below. Bottom line is that all schools MUST be held accountable not just students for Title IV aid. Nothing can happen until Congress stops taking the graft and definitively ACTS in the benefit of the country, and in the interests of the students who have trusted them and those institutions. The next big bubble is happening right now and will impact the entire economy in the same way as the 2008 housing scam.

Capella spent $1, 650 per student on instruction in 2009, compared to $4, 538 per student on marketing and $2, 912 on profit.1313 The amount that publicly traded, for-profit companies spend on instruction ranges from $892 to $3, 969 per student per year.1314 In contrast, public and non-profit 4-year colleges and universities generally spend a higher amount per student on instruction. By comparison, on a per student basis, the University of Minnesota spent $13, 247 per student on instruction, and University of Saint Thomas spent $11, 361 per student.1315

See links in the article at URL for more info and the report. It isn't a party issue but a corrupt Washington. If Harkin has had all this information for over two years where is the action? They know. The new Senate ed bill is missing general students academic rights & IP research protections. However every single special interest group that affords them an additional paycheck is clearly item delineated.

Capella University Comp exam grade

The school gave me an NS grade on my comp exam after having a 4.0GPA and answering the question correctly. I have to pass to move on to my dissertation. After spending $90K they have tried to take my money and run! They asked what the difference was between leadership and management in an education setting? However, they stated that "I did not use the correct authors in the answer. They did not ask this in the question nor in the grading rubric did they ask for specific authors and gave me an NS grade based on this. They have not given me a fair and just appeal with the "committee" that was formed. Stay away from this school. I am for a class action lawsuit against this school if someone is interested please contact me.

I have had the same experience with the my comprehensive exam. I rewrote the answers only to be failed. I believe this comprehensive exam plan is a scam, but hard to prove. We need to collect all responses to the questions because I believe they would be the same.

Wow. Here I am with the same issue. 4.0 GPA and failed all 3 questions and it is noticeable that one of the readers didn't read my answers or my rewrite. My sister just past her exam with another university and couldn't believe we were subject to being judged by the opinion of 3 strangers. I have spent all of my funds and feel as if they have dropped me into a whole without a way out.

Capella University - 4. 0 four years.. Last course = f

After attending this university for 4 years with a 4.0, in my LAST course a teacher by the name of Sanaa Reynolds failed me. A kid with a PhD and an elitest attitude. Capella University phd program

Good morning, my name is Jose Angel Ciceraro.
I have been deceived and duped by Capella University. When I joined Capella seven
years ago it was truly a university focused on the student. Unfortunately that is not the case.

I have been a “learner” for seven years. In the seven year time frame I suffered numerous personal setbacks; I lost my business, home, suffered three bouts of unemployment and yes homelessness. Still I had the presence of mind to continue in my PhD program. I went hungry, slept on a dirty garage floor, but I still stayed enrolled in Capella!

My wife recently suffered two strokes, her mobility is limited to a wheel chair most of the time. I asked Capella an extension on the PhD requirements. I was informed “No”. “The catalog stipulates seven years, we have options for learners but they do not include family members.” I expected that due to my special circumstances some flexibility would be afforded by Capella. That was not the case. I have lost seven years of my life, $120, 000 and nothing to show for it. I took extra classes based on an ad visors recommendation to achieve a certification in Public Health. On 14 March 2014 I
was informed by Capella that they did not offer a certificate in public health.
The mistake by Capella cost me over $12, 000!

The Capella solution is that I apply for readmission for a Master’s
Degree! I already have one. I will not spend another dime on Capella. To add
insult to injury, Capella is charging me a $50.00 application fee.

The truth of the situation came out in my conversation with Mr. Tessnier (spelling ?). I have maxed out my student loans therefore I’m no longer worthy of the PhD program. This would be in a sense more palatable if I was an average student. I have a 3.75 average, even with all of the difficulties that life threw at me.

Capella has become a degree mill. They are heartless. I tried talking to the chair of my department and I never received a reply. It is simple you maxed out your student loan potential and you no longer are worthy. I’m seeking other students who might be involved in a class action against Capella. I’m willing to go to the news media and report this egregious wrong.

Capella University Comp exam rip off

If anyone is planning a lawsuit or investigation, please count me in. I have finished all coursework for a PhD in General Psychology with a 3.8 GPA. Upon taking the comp exam last term, I failed on the initial attempt and had to rewrite. My rewrite went to a tiebreaker, meaning one reader gave a grade of pass, and the second, fail. The tiebreaker, who I feel by comments made, was the same as one in my initial exam, gave a fail. Hence, I failed the exam. Some of the comments I received was (comma error, pronoun agreement, etc.) I did not realize the content of my answer was not as important as whether I misplaced a comma or semicolon. I am presently taking a writing course, in order to be able to retake the exam next term. The course is elementary at best, and in no way teaching what Capella describes as scholarly writing. This is so frustrating after spending 3 years and thousands of dollars.
Please contact me at [protected]@yahoo.com if you're interested in hearing more about my experience thus far.

I completed all course work and my mentor passed my comp exam but one or bother of the other readers did not. I was not allowed to even know the names of these readers, their qualifications, or respond to their comments. Being a doctoral level student having done extensive research working diligently creating a 50 page research document in four weeks, and rewriting to comments in two weeks, without being able to have more than a few sentences of comment from people you do not even know, if they even exist is ridiculous.

I attended the school for two weeks, with drew, received a check back and five years later I have a collection agent calling saying I owe them money. The amount is 1300.00 my husband said to pay so they will stop calling but I do not owe them. I have a master degree and a debt of 75, 000 and I pay my student loans back every month. I would not recommend this school to my worst enemy. I am a transfer counselor for high school and college age students and I warn them of schools like this.

Capella University False accusations

In 2011 I attended a Residency for my Master's Degree. Capella University was allowing and intern to give unsupervised and feedback that had no theoretical merit. I was falsely accused when I complained and kicked out of the mental health program. I had been attending the mental health program since 2009 with a 3.8 grade point average. It is a shame that I now have to repay students loans with no degree.

Capella University Drawing out education to take financial aid

Capella university had the soe and three doctors say that a dissertation proposal was awesome and had me work on it for two years. Editing, rewriting, gathering information, getting forms together, and then I needed to submit it to the irb. Now remember this is two years of everyone saying yes, great idea, good proposal, and the head of the soe approving the proposal to have the irb say no do it again. They are trying to drain me of all the financial aid I have then they do not care what happens to me. Capella university should be ashamed of their selves and if I worked for them, I would walk! Not a reputable institution at all.

Of course they did. They are being paid by Capella. You don't have confidentiality when it comes to the government and once students find out that they don't have true recourse and that courts are reluctant to rule against academia they conclude they are out of options but the tide is turning. The Harkin Group got the scoop on the abuses of for-profits, Capella specifically; had has issued a watered down response that speaks volumes. The state and federal representatives are being paid off too in the form of campaign contributions. I have a solution if they don't provide what people are paying them for they don't get the money, have to refund the student and offer a way for the abused consumer to be compensated. This whole mess will make the mortgage crisis look like a picnic in central park & soon. Mary

I was a PhD student in the School of Public Service Leadership, General Human Services. It is my opinion only, that what was put upon these students (the SMR) in 9/2010-10/2012 within their Dissertation process was unethical and unjust. I hope that if you have a complaint about this specific issues, the SMR, that you immediately contact the Higher Learning Commission HLC and file a Third Party Comment. This SMR's development was added within the PhD Dissertation process during that 9/10 quarter for these PhD students only until 10/12. In October of 2012, the website was overhauled, these remaining Phd students in this General Human Services group program were absorbed into other PhD programs within the PSL schools. The SMR's development was not noted in any of the Dissertations due process in Dissertation Manuals or Guidebooks (since it was added between milestone steps within Milestone Group 1 (but could have used up your financial aid money). In 10/12 it became known as the Research Plan and was applied within all of this Universities PhD schools. This addition of this SMR increased the credit hours needed to complete the PhD. On 5/12, I asked the HLC to review this issue.
Additionally I had contacted the federal government concerning a misappropriation of federal financial aid. The federal government has responded that I need to pay my federal financial aid and additionally, they contacted this University violating my confidentiality. Repaying my financial aid was never the question nor requested within the content of my correspondence with them.
To date nothing has been resolved, I am hopeful that the HLC will support their own policies and hold this University accountable. My last correspondence from the HLC was dated 2/13.
In that correspondence the HLC stated they are not responsible for issues between the individual students and the Universities...but this was not one student. It was a large group of individual Public Service Leadership PSL, General Human Service PhD students affected by the actions of this University (not to be confused with the Public Safety Leadership program PSL also with the same acronym running simultaneously). Again, this is my opinion only. Additionally after my providing 3 SMR's and a 4th was requested which I refused to do, I was Administratively Withdrawn on 10/12. My completed proposed Dissertation Research study suggests the Solution to Illiteracy, but I do believe my financial aid also ran out at that time.
The Higher Learning Commission had an existing policy against this linked to changing programs and adding courses. In that policy it stated that this action by a University required preapproval by the HLC. Their new policy Inst.F.20.040 is a new revision of that policy that was originally dated effective 7/10. Just to let you know...I am still waiting for answers...to these comments from the HLC as they inspected Capella university on 10/23/13 with full knowledge of these issues.

I have similar experience with Capella. I was enrolled in a Ph.D program in Organizational Development and they have been absolutely discriminatory and have not kept their word. Capella University Ripoff

I disagree about the worth of this university... Save tons of money and go to a public institution. Watch out for all the promotions... Beware of advertising of employment outlook... They have no actual figures of graduate success. These degrees might get you promoted if you are already in the particular field, but otherwise you'll leave with huge loans and little actual job opportunities.
When we complain, the university calls us "the vocal minority" and remove us from the university's blog rooms and label us as "spam."

Enrolled at Capella after they acknowledged that I qualified for financial aid to cover classes. Four weeks into classes, I was told that I really didn't qualify and that I might as well not even attempt to finish the class because there is no financial aid to cover it. Next thing I knew, they were billing me for$6600. They said that they enrolled me and said I qualified for fin aid without even knowing if I did or not. Now they want me to pay for their mistake. I didn't finish the classes, owe them $6600, and they are threatening to put on my credit and take to collections. BEWARE! They are a complete scam. They will not let me talk to anyone in their business office, and they just keep threatening me. DO NOT ATTEND CAPELLA UNIVERSITY

I had a very similar experience with Capella. In Feb 2011 filled for financial aid to finish would should have been my last year of classes. I never received a response from them about how much aid I would be receiving until I questioned them about it in May 2011, I was told to go ahead and fill out the MPN for loans. Then when summer quarter started two weeks into the the quarter I was told I was unable to get the loans, so I dropped the class. I told them I didn't have the money to pay out of pocket, there was no way I would be able to kept attending school. They wanted to charge me the for the two weeks of class I had attended, I kept receiving harassing phone calls.

So being a glutton for punishment, I decided to attempt to go back for the [protected], it has been nothing but a nightmare trying to filling out the stuff for financial aid. I filled out the FAFSA in 2/2012, MPN 3/2012, yet they now claim they never received these items. Funny because the FAFSA and Government Student loan websites both should the information had been processes and sent to them.

Capella University Shareholder class action

L.R. Hodges & Associates, Ltd. is a licensed private investigation firm working on behalf of the counsel representing shareholders of Capella Education Company in a shareholder class action complaint against Capella and certain individual defendants. Capella University Possible encouraged fraud and engaged in deceptive and questionable marketing practices

An investigation on behalf of former and current students of Capella Education Company (NASDAQ:CPLA) and its Capella University, was announced in connection with the report by the Government Accountability Office with the title "For-Profit Colleges: Undercover Testing Finds Colleges Encouraged Fraud in Deceptive and Questionable Marketing Practices."

If you are a former or current student of Capella Education Company (NASDAQ:CPLA) and its Capella University, who experienced any fraud, wrongdoing, deceptive and questionable marketing practices, or had any school loan issues, , or if you have information relating to the investigation including also former employees or whistleblowers, you have options and you should contact the Shareholders Foundation, Inc by email [protected]@shareholdersfoundation.com or call +[protected]

Capella Education Company is an online postsecondary education services company. It operates through its wholly owned subsidiary, Capella University. Capella Education Company faces an investor lawsuit filed on behalf of those who purchased common stock of Capella Education (CPLA) between February 16, 2010 and August 13, 2010 against Capella Education Company over alleged violations of Federal Securities Laws. The lawsuit followed a report by the U.S. Government Accountability Office with the title “Undercover Testing Finds Colleges Encouraged Fraud and Engaged in Deceptive and Questionable Marketing Practices” which detailed undercover investigations into 15 for-profit schools that uncovered misconduct by school staff.

On August 4, 2010, the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee conducted a hearing on for-profit education firms, where Government Accountability Office representative, George Kutz, presented the findings of report GAO-10-948T, "For-Profit Colleges: Undercover Testing Finds Colleges Encouraged Fraud in Deceptive and Questionable Marketing Practices." The report detailed undercover investigations into 15 for-profit schools that uncovered misconduct by school staff. According to this GAO study, the college personnel at schools owned by Education Management Corp. may have encouraged applicants to falsify their financial aid forms to qualify for federal aid and pressured applicants to sign a contract for enrollment prior to allowing them to speak to a financial advisor.

According to the investigation by a law firm former and current students of Strayer Education, Inc. (NASDAQ:STRA) and its Strayer University may have material information concerning those allegations and may be eligible to file a complaint for allegedly misleading students.

Also whistleblowers may according to the law firm be able to assist or file their own complaint. Under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act signed into law in July the SEC can award between 10 percent and 30 percent of any monetary sanctions of more than $1 million to whistleblowers who provide “original information” leading to a successful SEC enforcement, so the law firm. Whistleblowers may remain completely anonymous and work with the SEC through an attorney. Under the new law, so the investigation, whistleblowers are also granted expanded rights and protections against employer retaliation when disclosing information of corporate wrongdoing to the SEC.

Recently the Attorney General of Florida Bill McCollum launched an investigation into some for-profit education companies. On October 19, 2010, the Wall Street Journal reported that Florida Attorney General's office has launched an investigation into five for-profit colleges, including four publicly traded schools, seeking information on potential misrepresentations in financial aid, recruitment and other areas. The state is reportedly looking into allegations at Washington Post Co.'s (WPO) Kaplan Inc.--including its Kaplan University, Kaplan Educational Centers and Kaplan College units--and at Education Management Corp.'s (EDMC) Argosy University, Apollo Group Inc.'s (APOL) University of Phoenix; Corinthian Colleges Inc.'s (COCO) Everest College and privately held MedVance Institute.

Those who are former or current student of Capella Education Company (NASDAQ:CPLA) and its Capella University, who experienced any fraud, wrongdoing, deceptive and questionable marketing practices, or had any school loan issues, , or those who have information relating to the investigation including also former employees or whistleblowers, have options and should contact the Shareholders Foundation, Inc by email [protected]@shareholdersfoundation.com or call +[protected]

So it is not only Capella, but Phoenix and kaplan and Apolo and Everest... Horrible... And they say that Soviet Union was bad. In Soviet Union ANY person from ANY part of the country was able to get ANY hire education from ANy University in the whole country for absolutely FREE and was garanteed a job after graduation! It is so sad that not only people do not have jobs after graduation but end up with debts of tens of thousands of dollars! Terrible...

Capella University Scam

I am done with my coursework at Capella. Managed to pull a 3.8 gpa and just finished comprehensive exams. I must say the further I got into the program the more "worried" I became. I complained about an instructor once, and so did many other students in my class. This teacher never logged on and failed everyone with zero feedback, changed her rubric etc...I manage to pass this one as well (after mass emails to the instructor informing her that I was reporting her weekly). One quarter later, student services got back to me to address my complaint. I was like "hey I finished this class last quarter, pretty late in the game dont ya think?" all kinds of bs appologies. Now I finished my comps and failed all three questions. The feedback instructors gave me only mentioned "APA issues" guess what? APA only counts for 5 points out of the 50 on each quesiton. How is that a fail? I asked my mentor for ellaboration and he said he could not do that and to just do my best in the rewrite. I did I spend another 60+ hours attempting to rewrite that damn thing with no feedback. I managed to pass all question but one. And again no feedback, I have not even been told which question I failed. I've asked for it several times and no one will get back to me. I NEED that info in order to appeal. I want to sue this F###ing school? Anyone in?

The fact is that you have to teach yourself in an online format. You failed your tests because you didn’t do that sufficiently and feel down you know that’s the truth. I have a PhD from Capella AND I practice clinical psychology.

Capella University could not be more nice and caring to land you secure and stuck to their school.
Once that ends, not only is the Information Technology program a complete waste of time. Their
technology/software sucks and fails all the time, so, you are late to submissions...but, they ahem, help you out by charging you for two terms because you are late. They have some serious issues with their financial aid office.
Their financial aid does not transfer and cover the costs. So, they load you up while fixing the supposed "glitch"
in the computers. A few months later, you find they never resolved the computer glitch issue for you to
make the financial aid take the expense and not land in their billing office where you are asked to pay the full balance of $5K (of which you can't...thus the financial aid need) and they drop you from classes for their issues. They write it in their notes as, "We gave exceptions to help them" but the delays and double term billings were not due to anything but their computer issues." They destroy lives. Do not attend. They are democrats with agendas and it is not to help you...it's your ruin if you attend here. They are pure treason. I could share so much more criminal detail. But, it's not even worth it. You want to screw yourself over into destroying your life with nothing to gain, this would be that kind of choice guarantee.

Join our class action legal pursuit/justice against capella university, for unethical and unfair business practices, degree program stall tactics, unrealistic and unfair student tuition, false promises, the university and its faculty not adhering to its own graduate degree program student’s manual (only to keep its students enrolling quarter, after quarter – costing its students an excessive amount of tuition), poor communication during active course participation, student loan/government lending fraud, in addition to many other “complaints”.in fact, we also have a an 'expert witness' willing to testify on the dissertation process, and “we” are in possession of a ’letter’ from a former capella university stating that, “capella university's doctoral programs are a fraud".

Facts about capella university: capella university was the subject of an education department audit, which revealed that the school overcharged lenders and this department by over a half million dollars. capella university spends an unusually high portion of revenue on marketing and a relatively small amount on instruction (for its exclusively online program). most instructors are part-time and accreditation could be an issue in the near future. capella university appears to maintain aggressive enrollment goals for the more than 300 recruiters it employs. many former students of capella university have been plagued with high debt to income ratios after taking out student loans from this for-profit university. capella university was recently questioned for having a high withdrawal rate amongst students in its programs and for spending an unusually high percentage of revenue on marketing. (source: www.processmystudentloans.com/capella)

Capella university information is cited below, where such websites state, “students don't mind a non-apa degree”, and also citing that capella university states, “graduates earn more income upon their graduating from its university” - which is false! additionally to its phd/psyd doctoral programs, capella university graduates cannot even practice clinical psychology, as its psychology doctoral programs are also not recognized by the apa in many, if any states – a requirement of course, necessary for a graduate to permit a graduate to earn state board-certification or ability to practice psychology – same issue as stated here within regarding argosy university (a lawsuit argosy university “lost”). therefore, if you were provided ‘false information/’false promises’ from capella university on this issue, or on any matter, especially upon graduation, that you will be qualified to ‘practice’ psychology within your state, or you were provided ‘false information’/’false promises’ (regardless of the type of program that you were enrolled with capella university) by capella university such as what’s stated above, and/or that you would earn a higher income completing any of its programs, and/or you know of other learners in this (same) predicament, please contact me. also, information regarding what’s mentioned in this paragraph, there are websites provided below, providing links for your convenience, for further review.

Argosy university was even known for its “bait & switch”, whereas all of its psychology students were transferred from its phd program, to its psyd program, with the university aware that it was not recognized by the american psychology association (apa), and argosy university even canceled its pursuit to become accredited for its psychology doctoral programs – with its students to enrolled in its programs. this university has been successfully sued for this situation. so was phoenix university! capella university no different!

Additionally, the state of minnesota passed a state bill (s. b.) regarding requirements by higher education universities must comply, with capella university’s report in the “harkins report” that is accessible for your review. file your “complaint” with the minnesota office of higher education (see below for contact information).

University of phoenix class action lawsuit [protected]: the university of phoenix is being sued and may be “shut down”, by court order! three former students who withdrew from the university filed the lawsuit out of arkansas, whereas the students claimed that the university of phoenix sought tuition payments directly from the students after they withdrew instead of deducting the payments directly from the students' loans. the students withdrew because the quality of education they received from the university of phoenix was extremely poor, the instructors would not help them, and some instructors went missing for a few days in the online classrooms. what the university of phoenix is doing is illegal: a corporation cannot send student loan money in the form of a loan directly back to the lender and go after the borrower for collection. the university of phoenix broke the ‘lender/borrower contract’ without the student even knowing. the university of phoenix is currently being sued for: 1.) conversion; 2.) breach of contract; 3.) interference with contractual relations; 4.) breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing; and 5.) unjust enrichment. university of phoenix class action lawsuit [protected]: the university of phoenix is being sued and ma will “shut down”, by court order! three former students who withdrew from the university filed the lawsuit out of arkansas, whereas the students claimed that the university of phoenix sought tuition payments directly from the students after they withdrew instead of deducting the payments directly from the students' loans. the students withdrew because the quality of education they received from the university of phoenix was extremely poor, the instructors would not help them, and some instructors went missing for a few days in the online classrooms. what the university of phoenix is doing is illegal: a corporation cannot send student loan money in the form of a loan directly back to the lender and go after the borrower for collection. the university of phoenix is currently being sued for: 1.) conversion; 2.) breach of contract; 3.) interference with contractual relations; 4.) breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing; and 5.) unjust enrichment (aka: “becoming “filthy rich” at the expense of others!”)

Is there a class action lawsuit against that university as I have many that want to join lawsuit. The treatment towards the students are horrible. They treat their students like they are jail birds. They tell you to shut up and do your own work and don't ask any questions. If they like you that is good, if they don't you are doomed and will never graduate and spin your wheels throughout years and years of getting no where. It is scam at its best. Please let me know if you hear of a class action lawsuit and count me in. - Larry B.

A huge class action lawsuit is in the works. Something similar that occurred with Trump University scandal. I have over 6 digits of debt with no degree due to Capella University and the fraud that occurred. Capella University switched advisors multiple times on me during my dissertation, unprofessional emails, and re-enrolling me in courses that I was not actively engaged in (taking my federal funding).

Please email kendracobb2265@gmail.com and forward all of your complaints to her. This will not fall on deaf ears. I promise.

I have been administratively withdrawn from my program at Capella for reasons stemming from a medical emergency that I had during a summer residency. Never during the residency was I provided with any feedback, yet almost a month after I returned, I was given a feedback form that I initially thought was accidentally sent to me. Nothing in the form described me at all. I provided my side of the story to a review board, and almost nine months later--and after having paid tuition for three terms--I received notice on the last day of Winter term that I was being withdrawn.

Count me in. I would also be more than happy to head up a class-action suit in my state (Washington). I have a 3.9 GPA; my only B came with a numerical grade of 89.25%. I don't believe it is possible to be intellectually unable to complete a program with grades like that, yet that is one of the reasons given for my administrative withdrawal. The damage to my reputation, to my finances, and to my educational and potentially work prospects is daunting. Capella needs to understand that it cannot treat its students as if they were throwaways. As for the grievance process against me, my academic advisor said that Capella executives were meeting regularly to figure out how to trim back the time it takes for a faculty-initiated grievance procedure to be completed, and that "many" (her word) other students were also waiting for resolutions to their cases.

Nine months is utterly ridiculous, and when all is said and done, Capella appeared to completely ignore the evidence and references that I provided in going with the nuclear option of kicking me out of the program. They didn't even follow their own processes during the residency. Further, I have tried during the process to contact the faculty chair through email and phone with no response. When I received the decision about my withdrawal, I immediately called him and asked him to return my call as soon as possible. I followed up with an email. I still haven't gotten a response.

Yes. I believe Capella is long overdue for a lawsuit if my story is at all familiar to others. My contact email is x-a-n-t-e-l-l-e (at) h-o-t-m-a-i-l, c-o-m, no dashes.

Given the Reverend's inability to spell or complete cogent sentences with proper punctuation, it's no wonder she received "F's". Perhaps if she spent more time learning to write properly, she'd be in much better shape.

Capella University Ripoff

Capella is a joke!

Do yourself a favor, DON’T GO! Your local university and community college will have many great options for your educational needs. They will have online classes, night classes, condensed classes that last 5, 8, 10 weeks at a time. In addition, they will offer summer and winter classes too.

In today’s world, if you want a real degree you can get one from a real school.

Capella and me!

First! They are excessively expensive.

Second! No convenient and I say this because the teachers get back to you in 2, 3, and 4 days after asking a question. I thought an online school would be better for my situation. I was wrong because if I had time to devote to a class and had a question, the teacher would get back to me after the work was do. This would also cause me to be behind because I was in need of some clarification and could not move forward.

Third! The support and library is of no help. I never really got anyone on the phone that could help me. It was always “sorry sir, the business librarians that can help are out, away, or helping others”.

Fourth! One teacher I had was a marking consultant and I believe was just teaching the class to promote it on her website. In other words, “I am a marking consultant and a professor at a major university so hire me because I have credibility”.

I know you want a degree but this is not the way to do it. I know what you are thinking, it will be different for me, I will give it a shoot and see, or everyone is bitter.

Last word! I took some classes and dropped out because real schools can fit into my schedule. I spent the next 8 months fighting because they took additional loan money for a semester I never attended.
