Very poor 🤒
We don't know much about how Canadian Tire handles customer complaints outside ComplaintsBoard, but what we see here, on our website, is quite disappointing. We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. But until that happens, we ask reviewers to be cautious when dealing with Canadian Tire and using their services, and to carefully read the experiences of other customers on ComplaintsBoard, because who is warned is armed, you know! 💪

Canadian Tire inappropriate service

Incident occurred on Sunday April 23 2018. Manager in duty for the Automotive Service Store on Wonderland rd. On Saturday morning I took my car for a flat tire to be fixed up. On Sunday morning I discovered that the same tire was flat again which it means my tire was not repaired properly. In the afternoon when I came back, my tire was not repaired because according with the manager the tire had four nails. The day after I had to take my car to my mechanic who discovered that the tire had just two nails.

I asked for my money back since I consider Canadian Tire Automotive did not give a proper service. I have sent few messages to the manager, Mr Davison, who has ignored my emails even though he told me he would call the next day to let me know the decision about my complaint.

Thank you so much for your soon response

Canadian Tire automotive service

I called the Cambridge, Ontario - Pinebush location to book an automotive service appointment on April 27th at approximately 4:15pm. I was on hold for over 12 minutes so called back to ensure someone was in the department. The person who answered the phone said there were 5 people in the department but wouldn't take a call if there were customers. She apogoized but was flip and unconcerned and said I would just have to wait. I understand that staff may be dealing with customers but I'm a customer too. She then put me through to a voicemail that said they were extremely busy and to go on-line to order. No option to speak with anyone or to leave a message. Very poor service.

Canadian Tire customer service

I had horrible experience with Canadian Tires (store#674) at 656 Erbs street West, Waterloo, Ontario. I bought a pillow but a few days later I discovered that it was not even and had poor quality. So, I kept the receipt and the pillow inside the original zipper bag to get a refund on Feb. 24, 2018.

There is only one word to describe my encounter with you and that is unacceptable. First of all, The store manager Mr. Chad said I could not return it because it was a pillow. However, when I first purchased it, Canadian Tires did not tell me pillows were non-refundable. This policy wasn't on front nor back of the receipt either. Then, I asked if I could see the policy. The manager ignored my very simple request. All he did was give a firm no and gave no room for discussion.

I went to a different store to get a refund and the lady was willing to do it. Is the "no pillow refunds" policy only at the #674 specific store? However, she discovered that my receipt had become invalid and she was just as confused as I was. She said I might need to go back to the original store and ask. Then, I called the customers service department. The operator apologized for the terrible experience and mailed the store credit to me.

This bad experience had struggled in my mind for 2 months. Today I decide to write a complaint. What I would like to know is, did someone did something to my receipt? It would be terrible if this were the truth. I can't believe Canadian Tires would let this happen.

Canadian Tire auto repair

On april 15 we were in hamilton (live in brantford). Early in the afternoon ran over some debris from an accident. We get our spare on and get to the upper james location at 5pm. We are told they wont sell us tires and put them on because there is only an hour left in the day! We got stuck twice on the way home trying to drive with the spare on in that awful weather. Thanks for nothing. I will take all of my business elsewhere.

Canadian Tire work estimate didn't reflect final price

Passerby told me I had tire going flat. It was full enough to drive. Went to Canadian Tire near Finch and Dufferin. These are snowtires purchased and installed by Canadian Tire less than four months ago. Was quoted $11.30 to check and repair tire. Handed me a work estimate to sign for $40-something. I said "What happened to $11.30?" Was handed another work estimate for $11.30. Signed it. About an hour later, was told I had a brake light and reverse light out. "It might be pricey." "What's pricey?" "About $25-30." I said ok. An hour later, they call me to pay. They hand me an invoice for $112. The tire work was supposed to be done under warranty. I ask where the extra amount came from. "Labour." I am really ready to leave, so I leave. But then I thought -- I don't even know what the original problem was. So I called back. They said it was a leaky tire valve. I ask why the labour was so expensive. They say they needed to balance the tires. I have had work done at Canadian Tire and other places before -- the labour was always part of the work estimate. Why not this time? It seems questionable. I was far away from home and needed the car. So I paid. But that does not make me want to recommend Canadian Tire to anyone.

Canadian Tire auto service

Saturday I was unable to turn on my vehicle nor to unlock the steering wheel (2008 Mercedes C-300). I did some search on google and YouTube trying to figure out what the problem could be. Despite I am not a mechanic, I was able to figure out it was the Steering Column Module. Before calling a tow truck, I called Canadian tire, Shawnessy, Calgary, AB. explained the issues and told them "most probably" it is the steering column module, would you be able to fix it" the answer was yes!

Had the car towed to CT, I asked a mechanic on the floor, if the steering column is the issue, would you be able to fix? the answer came positive for the second time!

CT mentioned that they would be able to look at the vehicle only today (Monday) morning. Around 8:20 am today I received a call from the auto-shop advising that the Steering Column Module is the issue and they can't fix it!

They asked me to get a toe truck to take the car to the dealer. I called the customer service to file a complain asking for the following, CT to toe the truck at their own expenses (since I paid to toe it to their auto-shop on Saturday) and to wave the inspection fee.

30 minutes later, I received a call from the auto-shop manager advising that they are sorry but there is nothing they can do to help. He mentioned they can waive the $75 inspection fee but I have to toe the truck at my own expenses (they would be around $200 for towing the car twice).

The Auto-shop manager also asked me to call him personally next time to see if they can deal with the car issues or not (means the mechanics and other auto staff aren't accountable).

I called the customer service again to escalate the issue to the branch general manager and still waiting to see what he would decide.

This is to confirm that Stephen McDonald, general manager at CT, contacted me and showed a very professional attitude in listening to my complaints and agreed not only to waive the inspection fee but also to refund the full amount of towing the vehicle. Thanks Stephen.

Canadian Tire my request was ignored. very rude.

I was the part-time Anglican priest for the village of Foleyet. I live in Timmins ON. I went to the Timmins store and asked if the church in Foleyet could get a donation from Canadian Tire (Gift card). Incredibly I had to apply in writing but I brought no pen, paper, or laser printer with me. I wrote out my name, phone number, and email on paper provided by the store. I waited. No response...not even a call to check if I were legitimately a priest. I went back, wrote yet another note. Yes, it was handwritten but so what? All the information was accurate and verifiable with a simple call or email! Same result. No response. To ignore a request for charity is quite rude and does not fit the Canadian Tire myth of engagement with the local community. Needless to say I will not be shopping at Canadian Tire again.

Canadian Tire auto repair

I had horrible experience with Canadian Tire 497 where is located 5970 Mavis
Road, Mississauga On L5V 2P5.
I purchased 4 new tires from Canadian Tire for my 2003 Hummer H2.
Few years later, the noise coming from the wheels.
Auto service told that I had to replace wheel bearing, front shock & alignment. Did it on Aug.2016 but no improvement but got worse.
Today noticed that all front & back inner tires worn out.
This is obviously mis-alignment & I requested re-alignment but denied.
They said it caused by f/r shock & front component and suggested to by new tires again.
Totally doesn't make any sense.
I mentioned that I replaced the shock less than 2 years as per Canadian Tire.
The service adviser (Anthony Dhaniram) is a story maker and the manager (Jason Shevlen) doesn't want to involve at all.
They denied to refund the shock cost even they believe the shock causing problem.
Angry, Frustrating & Cheated. I never want to go this place again.
Can you please looking to this issues?

Canadian Tire rude cashier.

Today as i was checking out my purchase a cashier with redish or pink hair was ringing me through. Her name tag said "Tiara" and she was being unbelievably rude for no reason. I don't know if she was just having a bad day but being called an idiot and being berated infront of other customers is appaling. I will be taking a break from this store and hopefully can return when the staff is more accomidating.

Canadian Tire auto service

My car had no vibration at highway speed, it ran smooth as silk . Took my car in for new front break rotors because under breaking conditions the break pedal bounced . The day I got my car back I drove it home on city streets, didn't go faster than 50km ( maybe 55km ) . The next day I drove it to work, as soon as I hit 60 km my steering wheel started to vibrate, at 110 km . I got off the freeway and took surface streets to work . I stopped in at Canadian Tire to tell them about the vibration . I was told they were understaffed that day and that I should call back in a few days . Well my cars been parked and I've been taking my wife's truck to work . I think when they repacked the wheel bearings they didn't torque them properly . I'll be taking my car to another shop to find out what's going on . I don't trust CTC to fix it right .

Canadian Tire auto repair

Feb 14th, 2018 my car left me stranded on the side of the road quite conveniently beside Canadian Tire. I took it in and they told me that it was the Turbo seal that went in my car and that they could fix it. I thought maybe this car was under the powertrain warranty but due to the fact that my current dealership was closed and I had no car I felt I also had no choice. Canadian Tire replaced the seal and I spent 330.00 to fix it. 100 for parts 100 for diagnostic and the residual oil change and taxes. Fast forward to one month later, I noticed that there were growing spots of oil on my garage floor so I took it to my dealership. They reported that the work that Canadian Tire did wasn't done right so they had to fix it again. This time it was free because it was indeed a powertrain warranty issue. Now I am out 330 for work that Canadian Tire did. I am not balking the diagnostic or the oil change but the parts. Clearly they did not fix the turbo seal or only put on a temporary measure that lets face it may have put more strain on the turbo. I went in to see them to lodge a complaint and he just said sorry I should have brought it back to them it would have been free. I agree however as stated it is a warranty issue that I was able to get the dealership to fix. Therefore I am disappointed that Canadian Tire couldn't say ok the part failed we see the next bill therefore we will at least give you back money for that. They couldn't . Disappointed with this and WILL NEVER take myself or my car to them again.

Canadian Tire unprofessional customer service I received

I bought a bear spray at 250 Shawnessy SE Calgary AB; a salesman neither told me this product can't be returned, nor is a final sale. Few days later I brought back to the store and tried to return (in original package), I was told it can't be returned. The store manager kept telling me that it's my fault, and even asked if I am 16 years or older, if I am, then I should have known buying a bear spray is non-refundable, this doesn't need to be written out! It's insulting! She also said the "non-refundable" is shown on the receipt. My question to her is that how could I READ the receipt before I actually PAID for it. She then said if you noticed it 1 minute just right after you paid, we will do the refund for you. I requested to escalate to next level manager, she said he is not in the office today, but I can call him tomorrow. I called the general manager on next day, named "Stephen MacDonald", [protected] Ext 233. I requested to come and talk to him in person, but he refused and said things can be sorted out on the phone and I do understand that because he didn't want other customers overheard my complaint. After he learned about the incident, he said, too bad and yes it can't be returned, but if you bring it back the next day after you purchased, then we will do the refund for you but not now. REALLY? I believe the 1 minute or 1 day return policy is all "make up stories" by the store manager and the general manager. Bad bad bad customer service! The staffs aren't well trained and rude! I called the Canadian tire customer relation at [protected]. Talked to a customer service Rep and she said she will fax to the store, someone will call me next week with a solution. Waiting….no one calls until now. Obviously they forgot where their paychecks are coming from!

Canadian Tire two cashier in the trinity common mall canadian tire

I bought one rose plant and one tropical plant today. I decided to exchange the tropical plant on the same day. The cashier Debby said yes I can exchange but there will be no refund and or warranty as per policy for tropical plant. I bought three plants that equals the amount of the tropical plant. I was the next customer in line but Debby took three customers before us. When there was no customers, she said that Tishaunna (second cashier) will help us. Tishaunna took another customer before us and made us wait. This is highly inappropriate and disrespectful for the customer. I have been a very good customer in canadian tire for years. There has been good experiences too. However, I am disappointed in the service. I will think twice buying anything again. Thank you.

Canadian Tire the hole store

My name is Tania and I have been going to the Canadian tire at crossroads for pretty much all my life. That store has there off and on days but recently it has gotten so bad and today I just realized why.. So I ordered an online order which I got a confirmed email pretty quick stating it was ready for pick up. When I had my free time to go and pick it up, as I walked in I decide to grab myself some stuff I needed before grabbing my online order. I needed a light bulb for my car, sale assistant in that department was amazing, we found which light bulb I needed and when it was time to get it out they told me they had to call a customer to open the cabinet concodeing it was locked and she didn't have the keys.. I waited 10 mins for someone to come and open the lock and give me my product that I wanted to buy. So as I get to customer service desk the poor customer service girl was by her self serving quit a bit of different customers. It was cashing out customers, doing returns on the other side, she had a customer waiting for their keys to be ready and she also had a customer waiting for her to write them a rain check. Now as i'm coming up next she now has to do an online order.. This is where it gets worse.. As the nice girl took down my information made me sign my paper, and said give me a few minutes to call a manager to grab your online order. I was a little confused when she said that because when I normally pick up an online order customer service grabs them and i'm out of the store so I had asked why I have to wait. And she explained to me that online orders have been moved to the back and we now have to call a manager to grab them.. I was shocked and I felt bad for this girl. As 2 customers are now making the girl feel like total [censor] because she's taking to long.. I waited almost 15 mins for my online order to get into my hand.. What kind of customer service is this.. I use to love coming to this store; getting treated with so much respect from all customer service girls, and cashiers and I am so amazed on how hard those girls work.. But now whoever is changing this store, is doing such a terrible job and seems to me like this canadian tire is going down big time... The owner really needs to step up his game or he's really going to lose his company... Make those online orders back to the way they were and stop pushing away your customer and also your staff..

To the owner of u see this. Get rid of your new general manager. He sucks and he's not doing you and your customer any good. I will no longer be shopping here and I will also let my family and friend know not to come here also

Canadian Tire car engine light check

Hello,
This is literally the first complaint I have ever written. I recently had a 'check engine' light on in my car so I brought it into the Canadian Tire on 330 Coventry Road in Ottawa. This is the third time I came in (previous - oil change / battery change) but this time I really felt cheated. They checked the internal computer and gave a recommendation that did not fix my car. I know this takes no more than 10 minutes to check and complete (my mechanic did the same). They charged me $135 for no more than $20 worth of work. I asked for a prorated amount and was strongly shut down.
It goes without saying that they have lost my business. I would appreciate compensation because I feel cheated. All I was looking for was 15 to 30 minutes off the total 'hour' they charged in good faith.
Other customers should take note.

Canadian Tire appliance refund

I returned an appliance to the store less than 2 hours from when I purchased it. The appliance did not work. They took it back, but they did refund my money. They gave a card for use in the store. I want my money returned as I do not wish to spend any money in their store and I should not be forced to do so. They should not be allowed to sell junk that does not work and then force
you to buy something else from them.

Canadian Tire assault style black firearms

I am very disappointed that Canadian Tire Corp. continue to sell assault style firearms. The Langford BC store continues to bring in these types of weapons, even with recent events in the USA and ongoing murders and shootings in BC's larger centres.

It's time that Canadian Tire took the lead in the reduction of firearms offences, and not profiting from the sale of such weapons of war!

Shame on you!

Canadian Tire customer service

Poor after sale service
On Sunday, March 11, 2018. I went to Canadian Tire store located at (9050 Boulevard de l'Acadie, Montréal, QC H4N 2Y8). I arrived at 5:00 PM, and the one of the store supervisor prevented me to proceed to return section he said that they don't serve any client after 5:00 PM. I would like only to return NOT shopping, and there are still people shopping inside the store and other making payments. After long discussion I asked to talked with store manager, and surprisingly he speaks only French, and he didn't allow me to make return transaction. I am loyal customer to Canadian Tire, I usually shop in different stores with a very satisfied experience, but in this store I had many bad experiences in the past, and I thought that are only individual mistakes, but after the last experience that I have just explained, I will never ever shop at Canadian Tire as I don't feel the respect. Staff is rude and manager is not meeting the employment requirements for even small companies.

Canadian Tire customer service

On Sunday, March 11 we visited the local Canadian Tire to purchase our daughter a sled. When we found a sales rep and asked where they were, we were rudely informed it was out of season. When I asked if they still had any, the sales rep complained that she would have to look it up. It had just snowed and we wanted to take our toddler-aged daughter for a walk, so I asked her to do so. Once she pulled up the sleds on the screen, she did not listen to my requests and kept pulling up sleds above our price range, or not for toddlers. When I asked for her to look for other sleds that weren't $135, she sighed and complained she would have to go back to the main screen. She then called another sales rep to the front who was even more rude. The first sales rep told her not to bother looking, that I was only interested in "cheap products". I did not bother explaining to her that our family is on a limited budget - this was extremely humiliating. She then complained we we would have to go to the greenhouse outside. She walked ahead, not waiting, and when she saw I was still half way down the aisle, she yelled down, "Well are you coming or not?" I tore my ACL a few weeks ago and explained to her I could not come. She then made me walk over ice, out to the greenhouse, instead of bringing the sled for me to see. At no point did they listen, appear to want a sale, or be aware of the fact that they were loudly complaining that a) I was cheap and only wanted the cheap products for my baby, and b) I couldn't keep up and was wasting their time. They weren't busy. There was no one else they were helping when I arrived - I had not interrupted them in any way to try and purchase a product - which they had. We will not shop here again and will make our way into the city for any needs we have. We would advise anyone else with physical impairments or budget requirements to not shop here or ask any of their sales reps for assistance.
