Scam
I requested an estimate for a re-roof from Burr Roofing Co in Darien CT. A manager was sent to my home who looked over my roof (a relatively uncomplicated cape style), and said he would return to take detailed measurements. He never returned, and my phone calls and emails to the company are never returned. I would hate to think of the problem I might have had this company done the job, and I had a problem with leaks. Nothing worse than unreturned phone calls! If they didn't have time to do the job, they could at least let me know with a simple phone call.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

They did a siding job that was nothing short of a nightmare. And they were hired to repair and replace the first siding job that was badly done... so double whammy... Connecticut is filled with Con Men and unethical tradesmen in every arena and I believe it is because Connecticut is a corrupted and corny-old-boy-network sort of place AND there is nothing more than a check that you can send into the Dept of Consumer Protection to get a "License" to work at someone's home. So, you need a test for a driver's license but all you need to do to work on someone's biggest investment is a small, nominal check to the State to get a Contractor's License!
They cause so many issues I will only name a few:
1.) No management or oversight of the non-English speaking men
2.) Showed up with NO tarps or anything to protect our home whatsoever when it was repeatedly AGREED to by Woody, the Owner, that he would properly protect our home, our patio, our gardens, and our property. NOTHING. When I called to complain he played a psychological game saying that "the tarps were there this morning"... so where did they go, Woody, if they were there in the morning when I heard you drop off your men at 7.30am with no Manager around... did they disappear on their own? This was just a lie. He will lie and it will roll off of his tongue. It is always a psychological game to make you back off rather than just firing him.
3.) They used improper tools and especially improper cording for the job that caused a power surge to one of our cupola electric windows and blew the motor. This is at the top of the roof and now needs yet another carpenter/contractor to deal with and replace. This is a big job all caused by the lack of purchasing a $25 cord at Home Depot that is specifically for prevention of power surges caused by power tools!
He kept blowing the breaker, but when I discovered the damage to our cupola window I knew I was dealing with a Con Man.
Who in their right mind dumps off Spanish speaking people without the right tools and protection?
4.) Improperly removed our exterior lights and an exterior outlet which could have caused serious injury or harm and not to mention was a fire hazard to our home.
5.) He left our home without the pot lights that were in the overhang and had thrown them [along with the exterior casing of the electrical outlet] into the trash!
6.) An outdoor cat that I was feeding for several years was killed because I could not find her in the dark in a heavily wooded area after the lights were thrown away and his men left at 7.30 at night and I had no way of calling Woody because his own offices were closed at 4pm! So, he leaves you without a way to contact him, the Owner, but he has his incompetent and uncaring men at your home!
7.) I was tortured by this guy. He left huge nails all over our driveway, and the unmanaged men blew them into our garden, our forested area, and all over our yard rather than using a professional clean-up approach with a roller magnet.
8.) This was a nightmare beyond words.
You are lucky you DIDN'T get a Burr roof - they put a new roof on for me a couple of years ago and it has been nothing but problems.
