Burger King / sponge bob commercial

1 AL, United States Review updated:

To Whom it may concern,
I have never sent a complaint like this before. This is about your new commercial for Sponge Bob, I think that it is disgusting. You want parents to buy a kids meal with a commercial like that. I have a 3yr and a 2yr. old and when that commercial comes on I turn the channel. I do not approve of this and will not eat at a Burger King that advertises somthing that disgusting. If you want parents to buy a kids meal with a toy in it then make it more down to earth where the children can watch it on tv. Your advertisers need to be fired for who ever came up with that dirty, nasty, commercial.
Thank you,
Karen Edwards

I do not make a habbit of making a complaint for any company unless it's extremely appropriate. My young children love Sponge Bob. The fact that Burger King's commericial makes rediculously lude gesters toward "boody" and sexy woman's butts is offensive at best and tasteless to the point of never eating there again at worst. If they used a little taste and family appropriateness next time maybe they wouldn't lose customers that have been eating there they're whole lives!!!

I totally agree. some of the stuff that's on during "family viewing times" is questionable at best. It really is starting to hack me of that it's ok to talk about booties and have sex thrown in your face left and right but you get the ACLU if you say christmas.

    sick and tired of it.

This world is becoming more demoralized and desensitized to what is right. Evil is called good, and good is called evil anymore. The moral standard has greatly declined.

These advertisers depend on that and hpe that the parents are so demoralized nowadays that they won't give a darn.

I agree with K. E., the commercial is neither hip or entertaining. It's pretty pathetic if Burger King thinks that it is cool to have girls dancing around like they do. It would be better if they just removed the commercial from being broadcast.

I have tried to find an e-mail address on the Burger King website, but cannot locate one to voice my complaint regarding the recent Spongebob commercial. I have a 7 year old son who loves to watch Spongebob, so I guess they hit their target audience. Of course when the commercial came on he stopped what he was doing to watch it. I quickly turned the TV. The commercial runs during times when children are still watching TV. Burger King should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to run! We will not eat a Burger King again. No more kids meals for my family!! They can have it their way!

I completely agree...I NEVER complain but I am so ticked about this NASTY commercial geared toward young children. It really says something when my 10 year old says, "Mom, the new BK commercial is really bad and inappropriate." Even my 10 year old knows better, Shame on BK!!!

It's the path media is following. Hop on the bandwagon or get out. Only sex and boobies are important now.

I am apauld at the commercial. Burger King has no shame. First it was the Buckin Chicken now pore Sponge Bob has to be in their disgracful commercials. They gear it towards kids with the kids meal and all they show are Butts. I will never eat there again or my friends and family. Now I know why they don't have a email address on the site.

I agree if they want to use Sponge Bob in their commercial then atleast make it Rated PG. The people who own the sponge bob rights should have had this pulled off tv. I guess they are all out of good ideas at Burger King here is an idea for them, Shape the hamburger in a square put some vegtables in the meal come up with something like veggie fries that taste good for the kids to make a real square meal there's an idea for ya.These people don't care about kids if they did they would make the meals more nutional for them. I Really don't see what a phone book has to do with a square or a hambuger or Burger King i have already said you don't get a square meal there and its not like you can call in your order at your local Burger King. The commercial DOES NOT make since maybe they need to look at a dictionary for the meaning of square i did this is some of the information a seen ("A plane figure having four equal sides"). The Slang for it is( "A person who is regarded as dull, rigidly conventional, and out of touch with current trends.") ok now it all makes since the people who made this commercial are DULL and another thing have you ever seen a real person who has a square butt. Who ever made this commercial should have been put on the mental floor at their local hospital, The people who approved it should go with them . I also think someone should be paying a big fine for this Disgraceful commercial being on the tv for your children to watch. I don't have children and i feel this way the people with children Must be really mad . Burger King will loose out in the end cause people who still have morals wil;l not visit them they will be spending their hard earned money at other places, I know my family will not eat there again, A five year old could make a better commercial then that. but people don't care these days they have stupid tv programs with little cartoon's that look like kids that curse and they talk about sex just last week i had to take the remote from my nephew a turn it from the cartoon network we need GOD in this country in our lives in our schools .People with morals, not porn and people who don't care. Then when bad things happen people want to know, " why" this happened why their kids do bad things. Just look at what kind of role models they have in school and in some of their homes some people don't correct their kids they are some that are scared of their own children. I say raise them right put them in church most of all Teach the children The WORD of GOD they will thank you for it.

I didn't think I would ever see the day when I would want to boycott a product or company or ask for censor of an advertisement for same, but here that day is. I have children that range in age from 12-26, and I have grandchildren 6 mos-6 yrs. I have been a single mom forever. At one time I paid the bills by being a stripper. I wouldn't however, ever dream of taking my kids to any sort of burlesque establishment, and I don't want them to watch it. Unlike TV programs that are scheduled, you never know which ad is going to flash on your screen. I think they should pull the ad. It is at the very least distasteful.

I have 2 daughters and I agree totally. I am discusted with this commercial. They only put it on the air for the adults, you know what I mean. My daughter sees it on T.V. and turns away, she hates the commercial, and that is bad. She is 5 years old and hates a happy meal commercial with Sponge Bob in it, you know that there is something wrong with it. And I will be contacting the main CBS broadcasting network and have this commercial taken off the air. And to all you people with children and think that this commercial is ok, well you all are just worthless parents then. And, if you are teaching them at this young age to advertise in that way, then think of what they are going to be doing by the time that they are teenagers. It is worthless parents like you that came up with the commercial anyways. Thanks a lot to all you worthless people that even put this nasty commercial on the air.

The new Burger King commercial for the Spongebob meal is just awful. I do not think little children need to see rump shaking just so that parents can be badgered for a meal. Do you want your little girls shaking her rump in grandpa's face? I guess it's true..anything for a buck.

I went to the Burger King home site to complain about their Sponge Bob commercial but they do not accept e-mails. Good thing for them as I'm sure this commercial would result in a flood of complaints. Not since Wendy's and their Hot 'n Juicy campaign, which showed dogs licking the grease off of kids faces, have I seen such a complete lack of corporate responsibility! If this is the direction in which Burger King is headed, then they obviously don't want my business. And, I'm happy to comply!

I too am disgusted with this commercial!! I do not have kids and I still will refuse to eat at Burger King just because of the message they are sending. You are right, their web site does not allow emails .. but their corperate number is listed : 305-378-3000, and first thing in the morning I plan on being on the phone and telling them just what I think of their shameless production!!

Ok, first of all I wanted to say that I am a father of two; a boy and a girl. I think all of you are leading (and in effect, forcing your children to lead) very sheltered lives. It's a commercial, about a cartoon sponge for christ's sake. Kids aren't going to look at it in a manner of "sexual exploitation", or whatever you would want to call it. The fact is, kids find stuff like that funny. I remember when I was growing up with my brother and sister, as sick as it may sound, the subject of butts and pretty much anything involving them was satire. That remained the same with kids at my school, and even younger cousins and nephews/neices of mine today. The way I see it, is that the world is not getting more desentized ( as whistleblower put it), but rather people are getting more uptight about things. Subjects such as sex, profanity, and violence only have as much power as you give them. One thing I've noticed from friends and people I know, is that if you make a big deal of things of controversy, then often the children will treat them as such. Often times when they grow older, they will also go against what you teach them as kids, and embrace what you see as "bad" or "immoral". I saw it happen with a couple of my friends who grew up in strict Christian homes. I just wish people were more open-minded and weren't "appalled" at the drop of a damned hat.
