Faucet water filters
I am on my second Brita filter which attaches to the faucet, both of which are inferior products. I was disappointed with the first, but was fooled into buying another because they completely changed the design, the store had a promotion, and I had a coupon. The new one is worst than the first, and though the new design has eye appeal, it is difficult to switch in, and out, of the filter position. Neither indicator light, which is to let you know if the filter is still good, worked for more than 45 days. Just a bad product!
Their pitchers grow algae
Their pitcher grew a layer of algae a few months after purchase. Refused of giving a refund. Said that it is NORMAL and one can just remove the algae and keep using on a new filter. Did so but algae is back in days with a new filter.
Meanwhile my 7 years old PUR pitcher has never got such problem.
BRITA refused giving refund of the pitcher and remain unused filters.

im having mold and algea in both of my britta filter pitchers. same problms mentioned above also
My pitcher had mold growing on the plastic. I put it through sanitize in my dishwasher and the black mold was still there. We have been having some health issues since using Brita. Our family is the type where we clean almost everyday and we exercise. Our cat suddenly lost his hair. We stopped using Brita and everyone feels much better. Something is wrong with this system!
Unknow black staff in filter cartrige
Black toner in Brita filter? I have been using Brita filter for the last 15 years and I am very familiar with pitcher type filters. Usually small carbon participles are released free during soaking or regular operation. The last time it was very much different - black unfamiliar substance was released into water making effect similar to when you dissolve black ink.
This faulty filter is part of 5-filters package I bought at Costco last year. Brita customer service was not really helpful, just standard confirmation that the their filters are safe and they have good quality process. However they send me new replacement filter but refused further investigation.
Has anybody had similar experience? How can I test the faulty filter to find out what is that black substance and if it could be unwelcome addition to the drinking water?

Our Brita filter is a piece of cr@p. It leaks water out of the seam where it is put together. After six months of using it. You can't hardly turn it back and forth to filtered water. The filters only last about a month. We are buying a Aquasana and hopefully it will be better. It has a very good rating.
