Brain Host domain renewal?

I am hoping you can direct or advise me on what to do or where to go from here.
I have an issue with Brainhost.com who have hosted my domain injectionmouldingtips.net
My site was never up more than 70% of the time (accessible on the net) confirmed through 4 different computers each with their cache cleared. After numerous support tickets raised I decided to goto godaddy to host my site, they require epp and authorisation codes. I raised a support ticket (high priority) asking for those codes, within 24 hours it was marked as 'customer reply' whatever that means. My site was offline 100% of the time from that point on, (that was 2 weeks ago) they haven't replied to the ticket, my site has since expired and they have now charged my card with a fee for 2 products that were cancelled months ago. I have gone back into the back office and found they were switched back on. However, firstly I have an email that states the cancellation of these products, but more than this...why charge for products relating to a domain that has now expired? I cannot go through visa to start an investigation because (at the moment) these 2 products were turned on so Visa will say I authorised them. I cannot transfer my domain name to godaddy because I require the release codes from brainhost.
I am being held to ransom and I might lose the domain name to some-one else.
I have named and shamed on [redacted] but that does not get me access to my domain name which I (supposedly) own. I also paid a $197 us dollars for lifetime hosting. I thought you purchase a domain name once and pay for hosting periodically.

Please advise me on where to go from here.

Brain Host Refuse to Refund Despite Cancellation Requested within 30 days of Renewal

My Brain Host hosting plan was due for renewal on 7 Sep 2015. I was not happy with their service at all due to frequent down time. When I subscribed to Brain Host, I paid using Paypal and I had added Brain Host into "My Pre-Approved Payments". I saw a failed payment notice in my Paypal. So, I sent BrainHost an email to stop the auto-billing. I was not aware of the "Pre-Approved Payments" feature in Paypal. So, on 20 Sep 2015, I checked on my Paypal account, and found that BrainHost had successfully charged the renewal of USD238.80 on 12 Sep 2015. So, I wrote an email and open a support ticket to ask for cancellation and refund. According to their refund policy in their Terms and Conditions, there is a 30 Day Money-Back Guarantee on all shared hosting plans. I got a reply from Adam R, "Per your request, we have cancelled you account but we cannot offer you a refund. Please let us know if you have any questions." So, I asked for a reason for not refunding to me. I did not get a reply from them at all.

Brain Host Hosting/Web page freeze.

Hi
About 2:00 AM this morning (15/07/12) I just paid my lifetime membership fee, my payment was confirmed by CLKBANK*COM and I decided to go ahead with my Hosting & Web design, agreed to pay $9.95/month for 24 months and paid for it. BUT in my computer i can not proceed onto the next page - after creating my Web name the page just freeze. I Bookmark the page before I turned it off but didn't register. Can someone contact me by my email (daicon.cl.[protected]@hotmail.com) or mobile (listed above) on how to get back to the page Hosting & Web design. Thanks. DaiconXX

Is Brain Host legit?

Our verdict: Brain Host's operations, reviewed by Complaints Board, reveal a mostly legit stature albeit not without reservations. This assessment encourages users to navigate Brain Host's offerings with a discerning eye, especially scrutinizing the fine print and any user feedback closely.

Brain Host earns 63% level of Trustworthiness

Good Credibility Notice: Brain Host rated around 63% by Complaints Board. Generally safe, but exercise caution in information sharing.

We found clear and detailed contact information for Brain Host. The company provides a physical address, phone number, and 2 emails, as well as 2 social media accounts. This demonstrates a commitment to customer service and transparency, which is a positive sign for building trust with customers.

The age of Brain Host's domain suggests that they have had sufficient time to establish a reputation as a reliable source of information and services. This can provide reassurance to potential customers seeking quality products or services.

Brainhost.com has been deemed safe to visit, as it is protected by a cloud-based cybersecurity solution that uses the Domain Name System (DNS) to help protect networks from online threats.

However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:

  • Brainhost.com has relatively low traffic compared to other websites, it could be due to a niche focus, but could also indicate a potential lack of traffic and popularity. The brainhost.com may offer a niche product or service that is only of interest to a smaller audience.
  • We detected that brainhost.com is missing an SSL certificate, which is a cause for concern. Without an SSL certificate, the website may not be taking adequate steps to protect users' sensitive information. This can increase the risk of intercepted data being used for malicious purposes.
  • Brain Host protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.
  • We conducted a search on social media and found several negative reviews related to Brain Host. These reviews may indicate issues with the company's products, services, or customer support. It is important to thoroughly research the company and its offerings before making any purchases to avoid any potential risks.

Brain Host what began as 'free' — never truly was free at all

They advertised free services for setting up a domain, etc..but little by little-- the company kept adding tidbits- such as.. in order to generate traffic to your site, you need to pay 'x' amount... etc. so what began as 'free' -- never truly was free at all. Approximate charges were about $300.00 that I paid before I decided to investigate further.

I apologize for the misunderstanding. I cannot see your account so I am unable to comment directly, however, Traffic and other additional services are offered as an enhancement to your hosting package but are in no way required for you to purchase in order for you to have a successful website. Please contact customer service and I am sure we can adjust your service to meet your needs.

Brain Host I'm calling my bank to stop all future payments and to get my money back

Well a friend sent me an email about Online work from home. I went with it and create a domain name with Brainhost.com. I cut and pasted the message saying I now had a domain name which I paid for. I subsequently tried to open up my domain name and it said there was an error since there is no existing domain name that I created through them. I'm calling my bank to stop all future payments and to get my money back.

I do apologize for the confusion with your bill. You were most likely billed $181.00 because you chose a 2 year package. This does break down to $6.95 per month. We would be happy to adjust your Hosting Package. Please feel free to contact us.

Brain Host the old bait and switch

This is a hosting company who offers unlimited domains within their packaging however it costs $14.95 per domain name. I went to thier site and selected a domain name it populated as an available domain when it actually was already registerd. They allowed me to change my domain at no cost and then the next day my website was up and running, With no input from me now I am paying for a site that dosent represent my products or service, when I called customer service they wanted to charge me more money to change the site I told them I wanted a refund and the amount of the refund was $29.00 NOT the initial $181.75 I was charged. There are way to many hosting companies out there for them to have such terrible customer service. The old bait and switch.

Brain Host Bad business/liars=fraud

Brainhost.com and its associate company MyCreativeSiteDesigns.com. I've experienced most all the complaints listed here and more. I lost business because they continued to have server problems but I don't blame Support Dept. I blame Upper Management. This is a young company and they are very immature in all their actions in management. Although they have older owners who do not want to get involved with their customers. 99.9% False advertisements. They do not have experienced designers. They do not like to correct any of their OWN mistakes. And there are plenty in Management. They passed me around from Manager to Supervisor to Manager to Supervisor over and over for 5 months because they did not know what to do about their errors. They took my websites down, changed them (ie. subject, header, art and content) on their own, without my authorization, and put them back on the Internet. They put wrong content. When the customer complains and points their errors out they call it abuse. Instead of constructive criticism and change the website to make it right and make the customer happy. Instead they make additional errors which all goes back to the Supervision and Management of this Design Department. They essentially supervise this department to do "design in a box" not professionally done websites worth $2, 000.00. (Word Press sites). They took down my websites that I never asked to be taken down and re-did them to sometheing I never asked to be developed. How does that happen? It almost seemed deliberate actions. They then put a false suspension on my account saying I used vulgar language . I wonder why I waited until the 5th month of doing business with them to start using vulgar language? Because it didn't happen. They got too deep into their mistakes and could not rectify them so their solution was to get rid of the customer. Their customer is not their number one concern I assure you. My sites were kept in hostage for over 8 months. They failed to buy two websites I paid for. They could not do what they advertise for. Developers should beware when making deals with this company. I had 17 unfinished websites with them. I lost money.None of them were ever completed. due to their mistakes. They refunded my money quickly. I wonder why? They owe me much more than what they refunded me. They backed my files up wrong and would not cooperate with my new hosting company. They would not allow me to back them up for the transfer. Again making my life miserable as I had to pay over $2, 000 to have the files broken down by a "NASA Scientist" (IT Professional). Then some of the websites disappeared completely (I expected that to happen considering their past mistakes and immaturity). I am hoping for a better future now that I am away from them. However, I Have given them notice of a forthcoming lawsuit. They have in-house attorney who refuses to communicate with you; I suspect he is part-owner from his behavior being similar to the owner. My recent search indicated he had previous Internet business legal problems. Where was all this information when I was checking them out? I gave them too many chances to correct their mistakes. My advice to anyone is to get out now. Unless they clean house in management and supervision in the Design-in-a-Box Department and totally clean out Management at Brainhost.com. They should sell to NEW owners who care about their customers problems and not block their emails asking for help. They clearly did not want to deal with this disabled customer. I say a business follows their leader. This clearly trickled all the way down to their Supervisors in Design. There are many more issues not mentioned that harmed me and my business but too lengthy. They lied in their advertisements. The only awards they received were the ones they gave themselves. They also truly think they are above the Law. They destroyed my business. Someone needs to stop these people from doing further harm to other consumers.

Vincent Fisher and Mark Jenney are the owners of Brainhost. They are essentially white-collar criminals. They both have a sordid past involving internet consumer fraud. They claim to be "internet wizards" and "Christians" but in reality they are just crooks who use the internet to steal from people who are taken in by their false promises and blatant misrepresentions. Please call the Ohio Attorney General's Office and complain at [protected]. They have been sued by the OAG before when they owned a very similar internet marketing business known as NSA Technologies. Apparently they did not learn their lesson. Liars, cheaters, scammers is all they are. They will eventually get what is coming to them.

Hello,

I didn't add anything to my site yesterday. Will you be able to restore it back to Feb. 24th?

I would really like to know who requested my site to be rebuilt.
I'm losing money as we speak and who ever is responsible for this nightmare should be reprimanded or fired.
I have many subdomains under themabs.com. I rely on the experts, I'm no expert.

Thanks

Wow! We are at day number 9 and the content and site themabs.com still has not been restored. Brainhost can only go back 10 days, get what I'm saying? My site was last working correctly was 25 Feb. 2012 @ 8:30 am.
I have numerous emails from you stating that my site is working okay. Actually, the shot below is the shell of what no longer is. Click on to one of the pages. It will revert back to what you built on 25th Feb. 2012
That is only a screen shot of the home page. Where is all the content? Brainhost says they have my site backed up, up to 10 days. Brainhost, for 8 days now, has been sending me a screen shot of my site saying they have restored it. This is so not true. I have lost a lot of money because the content on this rebuilt site, that I did not request, does not match. I will keep trying to get someone who knows how to correct this very, very, big problem. Up until the last day...6 Feb. 2012
After that date, there's no more that can be done. Don't let it be found that this is a sabotage.
I will hire myself a lawyer.

If there is someone at Brainhost that can fix this very, very, big problem, send this problem to that person and let that person show everyone, who's having issues with Brainhost at this time, that there are competent people working for Brainhost.

Thank you in advance

Below are emails to and from Brainhost staff.
These are just a few, I have many more. This is how Brainhost helps their customers.
It's time to pay for my monthly services. What do you think I should do? If I don't pay Brainhost won't hesitate to suspend my services.
I will find out who cause me this hardship. Until the day I die. I put soooo much work in for someone to do this...

Pamela,

We are working on the website. We are having some technical difficulties with the website, and are attempting to restore it to a previously working version so that we can make the necessary updates. I understand you want the website to be green, and for all of the categories to work. All that can be done, once we overcome the technical errors we have been receiving. Our technical team is on the issue, and will update us accordingly, it just may not be until tomorrow.

However, what I can do is update you tomorrow, possibly by reaching out via phone call to communicate some of the issues you have with the site so we can get it working the way you want it to be.

Your patience is appreciated, and your issue will be fixed, we are just sort of on an uphill climb at this moment. You will hear from myself, Kevin; or Erica or Tess to inform you of what's going on.

We will talk then,

Warmest regards,

I see you were no able to restore the content. That's my big concern. I have over 300 posts out there that when you click on them, get the 404 error. That's not a good thing...:(

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@truthaboutabs.truth-about-absx.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Been getting this since yesterday. This is really sad. I'm losing money and I can't afford to move my sites yet...smh

Hello Pamela,

I have to apologize. I just heard from our Tier 2 Technical Team that our servers are experiencing some difficulties, which is why we cannot restore the site at this time. I have forwarded the issue to the Supervisor and as soon as our servers are back up running normally, we will try to get your site restored to the requested date of 2/24/2012. Once that happens, all should fall into place. Then, if we still have issues with categories and the color, we can make those changes in a snap. Hopefully this will bring back your lost posts.

I will monitor the progress of the servers/your site restore, and make sure everything gets handled as quickly as possibly while still delivering the most efficient results.

Hello Pamela,

Hope you had a good weekend. Looks like we were able to restore your site to February 24th, I can see custom advertisements and the different categories. Could you provide some information about how you are getting those errors? What steps are you taking to get to the point where you receive the errors? That would help us better determine the issue, as we can have our Technical Team troubleshoot how and why you are getting those errors.

Hope to hear from you soon,

I had a great weekend. I gave up on the possibility of restoring my site back to the 24th. The person that did this made SURE this could not be done. Thank him for me. Just not gonna happen. This is not what my site looked like on the 24th. I will take it from here.

Thank you Kevin

I apologize, and hope you didn't lose too much work. I did check out the site, it looks good, advertisements are there, back on the right track. Hi Pamela,

I have checked the site but, didn't get any error messages. If you are getting the error messages for your addon domain or subdomain, then, please provide us the steps to replicate the error message. So, that we can thoroughly investigate the issue.

Also, I can see that the posts are properly seen in the categories.

It's done, I've lost everything, I've lost money, and I've over 300 posts.
I don't want anyone to do anything else unless he or she can restore my site back to before all of this.
That was on FEB 24TH, WHICH IS MORE THAN 10 DAYS AGO.
That's how long I've been waiting and corresponding with tech support...

Yea and when you do call all they say is I will put in a ticket If you want to talk on the phone to someone you have to pay for that service in thirty minute intervals if you don't pay them to talk over the phone then they only communicate via email all the tier one support does is create a ticket to give to tier two support because they are too lazy to work even though the phones barely ring half the time it's all incorrect advice but what do you expect from a company that piggy backs off of all kinds of other company's its all a scam

Brain Host Taking toooo much money, no refund

10-26-11 Ordered month to month web hosting for www.smartover50plan.com Transaction#[protected]/$44.90
I could only afford website on month to month basis. I wanted more information about what was available after website did well, so I spoke to a Chat guy that charged my account for items I asked about and not for.

I called once I received email of total $407 charged, 10-28-11, spoke to Nick, who stated that all extra money would be refunded except for $44.90 of original order. Transaction#[protected]/$357.58

10-31-11 called again because my account was overdrawn. Kyym told me that $322 was being refunded in addition to the $61 of extras, but it would take 3-5 days.

11-2-11 checked balance on my account, not only was there NO refund, I was charged an additional $407. A man named Guy put in an Emergency Ticket. He apologized repeatedly, but at that point, the anger and disgust for company was too great. Transaction#[protected]/$407.95

11-2-11 spoke to young woman who's name was not stated, her comment was the charge did not go through, then hung-up.

I have three charges against my checking account that total $810.43. This company has no intention on attempting to refund the money at this point.

An Up-Date:

Billy at Brain Host Web-hosting just emailed me with news of refunding additional $417.90 to close account. However, $70.73 is still not refunded and I now have $136 of overdraft charges the bank will not erase.

Other avenues people have emailed me about are "The US Internet Ethics Committee, " "State Attorney Generals Office, " and the "BBB." Also file a small claims suit.

Brain Host brainhost is a horrible hosting service

You'd been warned. Brainhost is a horrible hosting service. I just finished with them, after waiting 30 min on the phone each time I called, they say they have techs and help 24/7 trust me all your going to get is customer service no matter what prompt you push. Their web service sucks, ya know the one they'll build for free. Ya right! No way would I recommend them. When I got a problem with my site I need solutions and answers, not a run around. Sorry I can't give them even one star. The same with a company called plumis. Can't say now I did not warn you.

I've given up with Brainhost. EVERY time I had a problem with my website, which is more than I care to admit, they started telling me they would have to charge me an additional 28.95/hour for the 'live' online 'help'. Well, if they would shoot straight with me to begin with and not pump me full of questions, I might have been able to make substantially more than (0) commissions by now. Also, they're GREAT about telling you what you NEED to do but they're vague about (HOW) to do what you need to do in an unhurried way in order to be successful. You don't throw a new driver into the driver's seat and expect them to go right to the controls and start driving without telling them what they need to do first and teach them slowly step-by-step. Oh, and their 'tutorial' videos ? Well, if the videos didn't have a motormouth trying to overwhelm and impress you with their skill levels and all their complicated mumbo jumbo and mile-a-minute jibber jabber, you might actually learn something. So you're forced to go back and forth to the 'Customer Service' ALL THE TIME. Not very user friendly for beginners of websites who have NEVER owned or operated a website before in their life.

Fred I totally agree with you. While you have 25 sites, I only have 6 sites there and I have the same account as you.
My account get suspended very often. If it's not due to server overload it'll be due to spamming? Spamming what?! I got my account hacked numerous times and had to re-construct my sites every time it happened. They say unlimited this and unlimited that. Well that's load of unlimited ### and crap! I have account with other hosting company and hosting more than triple numbers of sites than what I have at "Brainless Host". Never had any issues of overload or spamming at all.
Their tech support never get back to you on time and when they do, they never give you a proper support or solution.
I really like to see them go belly up and sink down like the Titanic under the ocean.
I think it's about time I consolidate all my sites and move to a VPS hosting account. I don't mind paying a premium but at least I have a peace of mind with real professional services. I've had enough dealing with this BRAINLESS hosting company and BRAINLESS people.

Hi,
I totally agree.
I have 25 sites hosted with Brainhost and they are more off -than online.
Now all my sites were suspended due to a serveroverload. I made their server crash!?
I bought the free lifetime membership. I guess with expanding sites I'm not profitable anymore
and they sabotage you so that you will leave.
Don't choose Brainhost.
Thanx,
Fred

I am totally shocked by the service I just received from the so called brain host if they are a company or some fools running around trying to scam people's hard earned cash. I have a website with them which was created for me for purchasing CT(commission Takers) beware of them also. I wasn't impressed with the whole site as far as I 'm concerned. The content wasn't convincing and not even original and what really puzzled me was adverts already on the site. That made things harder for me to be accepted by Google ad sense as they felt I didn't own the site. And I still believe someone was making money with the same site. I took action by striping everything down and wanted to start the site afresh with my original contents and my affiliate links. As a newbie I decided to buy some course so as to learn the basics of starting a new site which I just completed hours ago as I write this complain. The reason I am writing the complaint is because, I just had a chat with one of their operators and goodness me the dude was so unprofessional in a sense that he didn't answer my questions, kept me waiting for most of the time, he eventually ended my chat session without a word. I copied my chat session with this ### here it is:
ase wait for a site operator to respond.

You are now chatting with 'Dustin'

Dustin: hello how may i help you today ?

sandile: Hi Dustin, I can't access my C panel

Dustin: okay what is the first and last name on your account ?

Dustin: So i can assist you please

sandile: sandile hadebe

Dustin: Hold on one second please

Dustin: arttattooshow.com is this the website in question ?

sandile: why?

Dustin: so i know what information to give you

sandile: I don't get you, would you please be specific?

sandile: Are you still there Dustin?
Dustin: Yes i need to know if that is the website you are asking for the information on

sandile: It is

Brain Host Short Changed on Refund

Brain Host advertises itself as a 100% moneyback, satisfaction guarantee hosting services. Recently, I signed up for their hosting services, and cancelled within a couple of days. My original charge was $251.85. However, they refunded me only $216.90. Several attempts to contact them via e mail got me the answer that the difference of $34.95 was their charge for registration and set up. This doesn't look like a 100% moneyback guarantee.

Brain Host has always been great! I have never had any problem with them. I haven't cancelled my account, but I do know that all domains are not refundable, I had canceled hosting with Godaddy once and they do the same thing. No one will give you back the registration fee.

While we are on the topic of service. The best service I've had at Brain Host has been from Nathan. He is the nicest person in the world! He always helps me with my questions, has very clear answers, and never seems to be annoyed that I send him an email at least once every 3 days because I broke something! :)

Keep up the good work, Brain Host!

Hi Kirt - I work for Brain Host Customer Support. We do offer a 30-day refund, but as stated in our Terms of Service (http://www.brainhost.com/terms-of-service/) the domain registration fee is not refundable. This is because of ICANN law, which says that once you register a domain you retain ownership of it for one year, regardless of whether or not you keep your hosting, regardless of where you purchased your hosting from. Even though you refunded your hosting plan, you still own your domain. You can continue to use your domain name, sell it, etc. As for the rest of the amount, that was spent on upgrades, which are also not refundable as per our Terms of Service.

We've gone ahead and refunded you this amount anyway though, which we do not normally do.

Brain Host - scammers

These guys are total scammers, they claim to host your site and in order to do that you give them your credit card number. I did this and it was supposed to be less than $4.95/mo. Well once they have your information - look out - they will rack up charges on it. Tried their customer service and can't get anywhere. Stay away from them www.brainhost.com. I am...
