British Petroleum faulty shingles

Buyer Beware! Our bad experience with BP Canada:

My father purchased BP Canada shingles with a 25 year warranty. He lives in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. This is the letter we sent to them in May 2010 to which we have had no reply:

"New shingles were installed on my father's roof by B&B Siding & Roofing Ltd on July 30, 1999. For the past two years, my father has been dealing with B&B regarding his defective shingles (pictures attached). After frequent requests, a visit was made by representatives from your company, one of them being (name removed). My father was told that a sample would be taken and sent to your laboratory and he would be advised of the results. December 8, 2009 a letter was sent indicating the lab results showed that no deficiencies were found. As there was a slight language barrier, I have now taken over dealing with this issue. On May 11, 2010, I contacted BP at the 1-800 number provided on the card requesting to speak with (name removed) and was told that he was unavailable. I was also told that if I provide the file number, the person on the other end of the phone would try to assist as best as possible. Upon providing the file number, he advised that the file indicated a sample was supposed to be taken and sent to the lab, but wasn't, and that a message would be relayed to (name removed) to address this matter and to return my call. This information completely contradicts the December 8th letter. This is very unprofessional to say the least. To date, I have not as yet received a return call. Regardless, as you can see from the pictures, these shingles would not be acceptable by anybody's standards.

Please accept this letter as a demand to have these shingles replaced and installed at today's market value. If not resolved by June 30, 2010, legal action will commence."

We never received any response.

British Petroleum bad gas

I bought gas on the way to Florida, and after driving for a half hr I just enter North Carolina. My Van started pinging and hesitating until I broke down. I drove from NY and my van was fully tuned up before departure and is well maintained. I kept stallling and stalling. I realized I bought crappy gas from this BP station in Carson Va. I had to keep buying 93 and adding gas treatment to get the van running. I spent 7 hrs in North carolina because of the purchase of bad gas from this BP station the owner is Wilkinson Oil and food co. I was lucky I was able to flush out the bad gas by continually topping off the tank with 93 and gas treatments. It was a nightmare. I had to walk along 95 with a gas can to buy some 93 or the van would not start. Do not patronize this station you will regret it. it is located just off the ramp in carson Va on 95 .

British Petroleum employees

I Want to have someone contact me about the way these employees treated my boyfriend. (I can tell you exactly where this gas station was and who was working). He went in to pay his gas bill and was going to use a credit card and they wouldn't let him then they threatened to call the cops because he asked why he couldn't use a credit card. I hope BP knows who they are hiring. Anyway, I will never go to another BP gas station don't you guys know you already have a bad name!

Here's the issue my husband and I called BP and the Representative states that because the Gas Stations are Independently Owned there is nothing BP can do. My advice is not to use a BP Gas Station.

BP Ripoffs Start a Gl;obal Boycott of BP Gas Stations To Close Down BP Franchises.

This will take a little work on your part but here is how
to make an effective protest and hit BP hard in the pocketbook.

a. As a condition of a merchant account for either
MASTERRCHARGE or VISA, the BP Franchise is
REQUIRED to accept the card.

b. IF you write a polite complaint letter to the
appropriate chargr company, state your complaint
and ask the Charge card company to REVOKE
THE of BP franchises to accept VISA or
MASTERCARD, your complaint could COST
BP stations, WORLDWIDE, BILLIONS OF DOLLARS.

c. Both VISA and MASTERCHARGE enforce their
contracts jealously because their good name and
convenient service is why people use their cards

d. Send a copy of your complaint to the following
people:
1. Editor. WALL STREET JOURNAL
2. Chairman, British Petroleum
3. Editor, Each of your local Newspapers.
4. Editor, your Statewide Newspaper.
5. Post a copy here
6. Send a copy to the British Broadcasting Company(BBC)

e. As consumers, collectively, we pay the salaries
of every BP employee. In return, we get a company
that rips us off, pollutes our Gulf of Mexico, destroys our
environment, kills our defenseless wildlife, and
insults each of us who pays their bills and buys off
our elected officials with promises they don't keep
to clean up their mess. Are we all that stupid?

f. In 1776 we kicked the British out of the United
States over some teabags. In 2011 we can do it
over their bad manners and other ripoffs.

g. Add your comments. Get them in Facebook
and Twitter. Send copies of this to your friends.
Ask them to pass it on.

British Petroleum faulty shingles

IN 1998 we had our roof redone with shingles by BP Canada. The work was done by a licensed roofing contractor here in Connecticut. Twelve years later we noticed the shingles had begun to crack and peel. We spoke to the roofing contractor who installed the shingles. He said he had heard similar complaints from two other former customers who had shingles on their roof about as long as ours. They submitted complaints and were awarded prorated settlements.

BP denied our claim even though our shingles had the same kind of wear as the two customers who were awarded settlements.

We sent letters to Richard Blumenthal's office in Connecticut, and copied BP. BP returned a letter saying they still stood by their decision that our shingles were not defective.

We are now looking into an independent roofing consultant who, we hope, will be able to test our shingles to give an alternative opinion to that of BP Canada.

It would help us if someone out there could tell us who, in Connecticut, does that sort of work.

British Petroleum non maintenance of tyre pressure pump

I have, on several occasions tried to use the tyre air pressure equipment at the BP garage at Carmondean, Livingston, West Lothian, and on most occasions, the equipment is out of order. The latest incident was today when I tried to test the pressure of my tyres. As is usually the case, it was not working AGAIN... I asked the attendant if it was not working as it was not accepting my money, and the answer was no. I suggested that perhaps a sign could have been placed on the equipment and she replied there had been one but someone had removed it. No apology, nothing. This petrol station's equipment is poorly maintained and has been unoperational the last five times I have wanted to use it and, therefore, I will not be visiting it again. Something needs to be done about the service they provide, or in this case, the do not provide, and their attitude towards the customer. There couldn't care less attitude leaves a lot to be desired, needless to say, I will NOT
be visiting this station again.

Had a similar problem myself on Wednesday - the machine let all the air out of my tyre (probably faulty because of the cold - it gave an incorrect reading too), the attendant was adamant there was no problem even as I was having to fit my spare tyre! Funnily enough, the Tesco over the road were having no problem with theirs...

British Petroleum bad gas

About 7 weeks ago I changed gas stations because mine closed down. I started using BP gas. All of a sudden my truck started bucking, sometimes it wouldn't start. I had to have it towed to my mechanic many times. well nobody could figure out what was wrong. 3 different mechanics. diagnostics done and $2800.00 later still the same problems. Every part on my truck was changed. I have had this truck for 9 years and I was to the point of selling it for parts to try to recoup some of my money if it couldn't be fixed. well I about 10 days ago I was thinking what has changed. Then I thought THE GAS. Nobody believed me, but I switched gas stations and the problems stopped. HAS ANYBODY HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS, I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO KNOW. Its only been 10 days but it starts even in the coldest of weather. It runs great now. But that was an expensive lesson. I have not talked with the manager of BP gas yet. I will wait until after the holidays to make absolutely sure it was the gas. I would like to get some of my money back. My mechanic is on my side. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT THEY THINK MY ODDS ARE. SORRY THIS IS SO LONG Thanks Frustrated at Christmas.

yes, I totally agree with you, I have had the same problem and I live in iowa. My car started sputtering and then sometimes when I would start it it also cut off and I was wondering what the hell was going on. I to took the car to different mechanics and thought do they know what theyre doing? I went and had a tuneup amongst other things trying to figure out what the heck was going on but it seems like since the blowup at the refinery they are all selling water along with gas. My car runs hard. I really dont think thats fair at all to the consumer we are all ready paying a high ### gas price now were really not even getting the full gas that were paying for that really sucks. At least you were able to go to another gas station bp is the only one here.

British Petroleum unhelpfullness

Hi,
Last night reading came to a standstill. I had accidentally forgot my purse before I left for work that morning. I didnt realise this until I had put £20 of fuel in my car.

I was stranded with my 3 year old little girl stuck in traffic for 3 hours on a journey that would normally take 15 minutes. I explained to the person working that I had forgot my purse but I can either leave my tax disk or/and details as I will return today to pay. The person working demanded my mobile phone - which I said I am unable to do as I keep getting stuck in the snow and with a child I am not able to leave my phone. He was adamant I either leave my mobile or he would report me to the police for driving off. I offered some designer glasses that cost over £300 but no, he wanted my mobile or he would report me to the police. Some other customers where getting frustrated as there were hundreds of us stuck and as they rightly pointed out I had a child. Eventually after some minutes a very nice man said he would pay - which I let him as I didnt want to get reported for a crime that I was trying to avoid.

I cannot beleive that people are not able to use a bit of common decency when there is a crisis and they can take advantage of the less advantaged.

The last three times i have gone by BP gas station in Paw Paw, MI and have noticed that the gas price has been .10 cents cheaper than the other gas stations according to the signs. Once you get to the pump it is .10 cents more than what the sign says. i have gone mostly in late afternoon so the prices have already been changed...

Savannah Highway and Wappoo Road

Time was 3:45

Cashier was counting drawer for shift change I guess. Took her 10 min, did'nt seem to care there was a line forming. When done asked for next in line, finished with 1st cust. in line then waited for next cust., customers were being polite and waiting for next one in line but cashier had to say something smart, which put off everyone in line.

2nd thing was employee brought child to work, which I have know problem with that but she could not keep him under control. Running around and disturbing cust.

I have an Accra RSX 2017 when the gas light come on I have about 2 gallons left. I pulled into the BP station and filled up the tank. It is impossible to fill up the tank with more than 13 gallons due to the fact my tank holds only 13 gallons. On this day I pumped 13.338 gallons, the most my tank would have taken when the gas light comes on is about 11 gallons. This gas station is ripping people off. I don't know who else to contact but at least I will never go back to this station. Everyone should avoid going there.

I have been a dedicated customer for 1 and 1/2 years. I am there every day and welcomed gracefully by Larry, I stopped in there this morning to purchase cigarettes and was refused service as I was accused of giving the C.S.R. crap the night before! I was so shocked, as I had not been there in 2 to 3 days, Larry, the manager had waited on me the last time and treated me with all respect, he knows me and can confirm that I am A VERY respectful customer and have never been rude to any one. I expect to be apologized to by your shift from 7/09 /08! I am so dissatisfied by the way I was treated and plan to call the BBB to report this incident. I tried to defend myself, but was made to look like an ### in front of other customers, You can believe that ALL of my co-workers whom stop there almost every night will never support your station again... Please call me at [protected] to discuss this matter any further.

Sincerely,
A VERY UPSET CUSTOMER!

I has come to the BP gas station one night and asked for seven dollars worth of gas from the gas station. I was low on cash and needed it to be exactly seven dollars. When the gas tank was filled up the attendant told me "ten dollars". I said I only asked for seven dollars and not ten and the attendant told me he heard ten. My girlfriend was with me and also clearly heard seven. I realized English was most likely not the first language of the attendant and told him I would need three dollars back, he refused to do so claiming he did not have three dollars and then pulled out a wad of cash claiming three dollars was not in it. I told him to flip to the middle, knowing thats where the singles were and he refused to do it. I should him a ten as I tried to explain to him that I would need three dollars change as I said seven. He snatched the ten dollar bill from my hand. I was extremely appalled and so was my girlfriend. She is generally not a racist person but was just as upset as was and told the attendant to learn to speak English correctly as we drove away. After all, I was ripped off due to his inability to comprehend the English language. Needless to say I will not be returning to this gas station or any other BP anytime shortly and advise that next time anyone need to purchase gas they steer clear of BP.

I had a flat tire coming home one night on Moreland Avenue so I turned into the BP located at the following address: 350 Moreland Ave Euclid Ave Atlanta, Georgia 30307. I pulled to the right hand side, got out of the car, and added my money to the machine; only to find out that the machine did not work. I was worried because it was not a completely safe area and my kids were in the car. I saw that there was another machine on the other side of the lot but I was out of cash so I ran inside to see if I could get my money back from the cashier. I informed the man behind the counter that I needed my change returned because the BP air machine took my money and I need to fill up my tire. He rudely refused to return my money. I told him my situation and he stated that he didn’t care. I stated that I would file a complaint and he said, “you can’t do anything to me while laughing.” I returned to my car and was thankful that someone saw me in distress and gave me their automatic air pump to use to fill up my tire. I have be a costumer of British Petroleum for many years and I will not be using this company in the future. I will inform others of my situation.

about 8.25am sunday 5th june. at the bp service station 364 the ridge, hastings. i ended up having to go to hospital with a lpg freeze burn to my hand after using a dodgy lpg pump at one of your bp service station. i managed to fill up in the correct way but when i went to release the pump trigger for the nozzle, it sprayed lpg directly on my hand. so i immediately gripped the trigger again to stop the leak and waved to the attendant for help, when the chap from the kiosk came he said he'd switched the pump off and it was ok to let go, so i did and got another blast on my hand again, so i gripped the trigger again to stop the leak. he went back inside and got some gloves and managed to force the nozzle from my vehicle. i'm not very happy at all.

British Petroleum clerk was rude and hostile

I entered the BP Gas Station to buy cigarettes and gas using a BP Gift Card. The clerk, Adib, said the card was invalid. I called the 800 number on the back and received confirmation that the card was indeed valid and full. Adib then said that regardless of what customer service said, he could not serve me. I mentioned that the way he was entering it may be incorrect and that I am a long standing customer of this particular gas station and had done the exact same type of transaction several times before. He suggested that I was a liar and that he had never seen me before. I left and returned later after speaking with customer service again. This time I had a friend with me. He refused to check the card again and stated that I was giving him a headache and then he refused to serve myself as well as my friend who was to make a purchase with her credit card. Then he proceeded to shut off the lights to the gas station saying that they were now closed and for us to "get out". I informed him that I would be reporting him for his actions, he said "go ahead". The next afternoon I went to the other BP station in Bayonne on Kennedy Blvd and had no problem with the service or my BP gift card.

British Petroleum price fixing on credit card useage

This is not racial, but I can't believe the rude people that seem to be taking over our convient stores through out the fla. Area. Once again, this is not racial. But this paticular store has crossed the line and I would hope this to be looked into by "bp", and also mastercard. This store is ran by individuals that are either chinese, japanese, or possibly vietnamese, I wish I knew, and again, this is not racial.
I've been going to this store for around 6-months or so and have had a serious attitude each time because I want to pay my purchases with credit on my mastercard. I understand your policy to a fee if the purchases are under $5, but my purchases have been over $10 each time to avoid this fee. Each time, for the last month or so their attitude has increased to the point that today I was told, "you don't like, you go somewhere else." wow, so i've taken their advise, and will do just that. It really seems a lot of our convient stores are ran by people who do not like americans. I know i'm just one customer. But being a smoker, I know i've spent a good amount of my hard earned money, and realy hate the fact of being harassed and trying to communicate with someone who says they can't understand english. So with this being said, I also plan to contact my credit card service and report this matter as well. Thank you for your time

British Petroleum - shingle problems

Our roof was 6 years old when we finally contacted BP Canada to advise them of the fact that the shingles were occasionally being blown off by wind. This spring, the damage was more severe which prompted us to finally contact BP Canada. Prior to this, our roofing contractor returned to install the few shingles that were lifted off. Given that only one or...

British Petroleum atm rip off

I just left the BP Gas Station 30minutes ago on my way to work like I have done for the last 2 years. I stopped by the ATM and got 100.00 from the machine Terminal # C1005525 SEQuence 9054 at 7:18:56AM on 10/15/2009 I requested 100.00 and only got 60.00. I had no cash at all before I stopped. I noticed a younger attendent watching me closely behind the glass. I didn't notice the scam until I got to the Quick Trip on Beaver Ruin where I get my breakfast every morning. I immediatly called the store and the attendant simply said without surprise. Maybe you should have checked with us before you left. I will forward your information to the manager when he comes in. I am promising if this isn't resolved, I will stage such a protest East Point has never seen. I want my money and an apology. Please believe me.

GLOBAL BOYCOTT of BP Gas Stations

A GLOBAL Boycott has been started
To Close Down BP Franchises due to
rude service, ripoffs, bad gas,
and alleged fraudfulent charges,

In 1776 we kicked the British out of the United
States over some teabags. In 2011 we can do it
over their bad manners and other ripoffs.

As consumers, collectively, we pay the salaries
of every BP employee, OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS..

In return, we get a company that RIPS US OFF,
pollutes our Gulf of Mexico, destroys our
environment, kills our defenseless wildlife, and
INSULTS EACH OF US who pays their bills.

i think that maybe you should check your money before you left. that is just irresponsible that you didn't. most people, and this may be because I am a cashier, can tell the difference between 3 $20 bills and 5. maybe im the crazy one but hey I have never been ripped off at an ATM.

British Petroleum complaint re staff

Complaint 7th October 2009

On 7th October 2009 NHS Ayrshire and Arran Ambulance called at named garage for diesal with the appropriate card and filled tank with £30.00 of diesal only to discover that the card was invaild, the NHS Member of staff then contacted the office to explain situation, the hospital is situated 100 yards from garage, when it was explained that someone would come across with the money in a matter of minutes the individual working for BP call Elaine very rudely said would we expect to visit Asda and not pay for messages, at no time was it indicated to the BP member of staff that the diesal was not being paid for. Also initially when asked if the phone could be used the answer was no also when asked if another member of staff could be brought over to pay the answers was no, when asked if she could supply her name to the NHS she said her name was Elaine and that was all we needed to know, the BP Member of Staff also threatened the NHS Ambulance Staff with calling the Police which again was very rudely said. After having spoken to an NHS Manager on the phone who explained the situation the said Elaine became even more abusive and ignorant.

As the Manager who spoke to this individual i would like to say that I found the member of staff very rude, ignorant in speech and totally unhelpful, considering that she knew that the staff were genuine, in uniform and the ambulance has NHS Ayrshire and Arran painted on the side, and also the fact that the said member of staff could see the hopsital from where she was standing.

The situation got so bad the NHS staff member paid for the diesal from her own pocket, bearing in mind also there were eldderly paitents in the Ambulance the situation was all the more distressing.

I would say in light of this situation the fleet of vehicles used by the NHS will not be using that BP Garage again, i would also like to have response to this complaint in the near future

I've just had my car tax forceably removed from my car at a BP garage under very similar circumstances.
Again the manager was extremely rude, threatened me with the police but declined to phone them when I called his bluff. Apparently they have a deal with the local police, I'll be phoning the ministry of transport to check because I'm pretty sure:
a) garage managers don't have any power of sizure of goods
b) it is illegal to drive/park on the public highway without tax or to force someone to do so.

British Petroleum lawlessness

British Petroleum rude & lazy attendants

The attendants there were quite rude to me, I went in to buy some cigs and stood in a line behind 2 others. There were 2 behind the counter, but from what it appeared only 1 register open. To my surprise, when another customer of the same skin color of the attendants walked in, the other attendant (that was doing nothing but talking) offered to help her instantaneously. When it was my turn at the register, they did not have the type that I had asked for after I was rung up so I requested to cancel my order (I was paying with debit card). The attendant insisted that she could not, but I realized that I could just hit "no" for the amount due on the credit machine. I did so and said "nevermind, I got it" and she shouted in front of other customers "your card got denied anyways!" this angered me and when I asked for her name, she further refused and denied to give her name while yelling at me in front of others. And when I asked why the other attendant could not have rang up anyone else in line, their reply was "we didn't know what they wanted." hmmm... Sounds like laziness to me. The worst gas station in sumter! Attendants were completely rude and seemed racist by their actions.

British Petroleum poor pump maintenance

This station has been poorly run for over a year now. Every time you go in, 3 to 4 pumps are out of order, there is no receipt paper for pay at the pump transactions. Now the latest, when I insert my bpcard the message comes on "see attendant". The attendant who doesn't speak english, wants to hold onto the card until you are through pumping gas, but you first must give the amount you wish to purchase.
Since I always fill my tank, I don't know an amount.
When you do find someone to complain to, the answer is always "we're new owners, it will be fixed next week" next week has never come.
All other brand stations I patronize still have pay at the pump convenience - and it is showing at this station, as there are always very few customers anymore.

about 8.25am sunday 5th june. at the bp service station 364 the ridge, hastings. i ended up having to go to hospital with a lpg freeze burn to my hand after using a dodgy lpg pump at one of your bp service station. i managed to fill up in the correct way but when i went to release the pump trigger for the nozzle, it sprayed lpg directly on my hand. so i immediately gripped the trigger again to stop the leak and waved to the attendant for help, when the chap from the kiosk came he said he'd switched the pump off and it was ok to let go, so i did and got another blast on my hand again, so i gripped the trigger again to stop the leak. he went back inside and got some gloves and managed to force the nozzle from my vehicle. i'm not very happy at all.

British Petroleum gas gift cards

Beware buying gas gift cards! We were told the cards were previously activated. After checking the card numbers on-line, of course, the balance was zero and not only that, one was a 'used' card. Gift cards are always activated at the point of sale! We finally got our money back but it was time and effort and after registering a station complaint we still have not heard from the owner. I'm not sure if the attendant is running a scam or the station owner is behind this scheme, but my advice is don't buy gift cards at this station!

I gave a BP gift card to one of my husband's caregivers at Christmastime. I purchased it at Publix where it was supposedly activated at the time of purchase. To my dismay, she now tells me it shows a zero balance. Publix agrees, and tells me I must contact BP to get a new card or a refund. I have tried to contact BP at numbers I was given by Publix many times, and am repeatedly informed that call volume is so high that I must call at a different time. How embarrassing...and aggravating! Never buying a BP gift card again!
