I purchased a car from Bowditch Ford in Newport News. This was a used 2015 Chevrolet Corvette that came with a 30 day 1000 mile warranty. The car only had 14k miles and looked like brand new. On my way home I noticed a strange vibration in the transmission. I contacted the sales rep the next day and she said to bring it in and they would get it straight...

Bowditch Ford not honoring warranty

I made the mistake of buying a 2016 focus from this dealership. 1 1/2 yrs later (last week) I brought my car to a very trusted mechanic who I have been dealing with for many yrs because my radiator was leaking. I was told to bring it to the dealership because it should be covered under warranty. I had my car towed from my mechanic to Bowditch. I get a call from them stating they will not honor the warranty because the were signs of impact. First, my mechanic would have told me this. Second, and keep this in mind, the crossmember was in PERFECT condition (I took pictures of it) and all of a sudden the condenser is leaking and it would cost me 1300 to repair. When my husband asked how is the radiator in such bad condition but the crossmember is in perfect condition, the answer we got was I don't know. I called my mechanic and they said the complete opposite. They did not see anything this ripoff place said. I called the Ford Corp and they suggested to take the car to another dealership for a 2nd opinion. I made an appt with another dealership. When I explained what Bowditch said about the car they even said it sounds like they wanted to get out of honoring the warranty. The person I spoke with actually laughed when I told them about a perfect cross member but the radiator is all scratched up and damaged. I will mention the ac in the car was working perfectly until they found fault and insisted there was a problem. They r nothing but rip offs and I will never do business with this dishonest place ever again. I have already told many people of this and actually stopped a person from going there.

Bowditch Ford Lies

2.14.08- My husband and I went Bowditch Ford to try a key in a 2006 Toyota scion. The key did not work however we proceeded to look @ the used vehicles on the lot. The salesman asked us if we needed any help and we told him we were just looking. He continued to walk with us around the lot looking at the used and the new vehicles. We looked @ a 2008 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer EL. The sticker price was outrageously high @ 49, 000. My husband and I walked away and the salesman kept telling us not to pay attention to the sticker price. He attempted to get us to come into the dealership to see if they could work out a deal. We told him no and as he walked inside we walked back to the used vehicles. As we were looking he brought out another salesman by the name of Carlos. Carlos asked us would we allow him to run the numbers and see if he could get the expedition to a price we thought was reasonable. We told him he could without running our credit. After about 30 mins Carlos came back and said he could get it to about $36, 000. We then told him that has to include everything including gap insurance. We walked inside and set in an office why Carlos continued to run the numbers. He brought us back a number that wasn't much lower around $35, 500. Then Carlos asked if he could run our credit and we told him yes but we wanted 0 down and payments no more than $650 a month. He left the room and came back about 30 mins later. He said we were approved by our bank 1st advantage credit union for about $739 with 0 down or $699 with $2000 down. We told him neither deal would work. Carlos left to see if he could get us a better deal and he came back once again and said the bank approved us for 0 down and $699 a month. Once again we told him that was too high so, he left for a third time and returned to tell us that the new offer from the bank was 0 down and $675 a month. We accepted the deal. After shaking hands and receiving congrats from numerous other employees in the building. We then proceeded to test drive the vehicle as we had told Carlos we did not want to tease ourselves by driving the truck before we knew we had a chance to purchase it. When we returned from the test drive we waited around and signed paperwork for the next 2-3 hrs, including the trade in of our 2001 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer. After taking the new truck home for 4 days we received a phone call saying we need to return the vehicle because we were not approved. I was shocked, angry and hurt because we were lied to and deceived. We would have never test drove let alone taken the vehicle home if we had of known we were not approved for it. After taking the vehicle back and requesting to speak to the owner, we basically told that the two salesman we dealt with were third party contractors whom did not work for Bowditch and therefore Bowditch was not responsible for anything we were told. In the mean time our taillight covers were removed from the 2001 expedition and I had to purchase a new decal for parking @ my school. Also, we had to go thru the hassle of changing our insurance back over to the 2001 Expedition and we still do not have our registration because it was sent to Richmond Virginia saying that the vehicle was sold. The company has since compensated us for the decal and the taillights, however it is very unprofessional that they can hire a third party to lie to customers and not be held responsible. I think Bowditch ford should have to take a loose on the amount of the vehicle that the bank will not finance or provide us with a 2008 expedition Eddie Bauer EL with a minimum of an automatic start system and DVD system which is all we wanted in the vehicle to begin with. They need to understand that they are responsible for any and all employees they hire, whether third party or not, and regardless of how bad the economy gets they have to respect the consumers rights whole heartedly.

they did something similar to me and my husband. we traded in our vehicle and drove away in a slightly used gmc truck. the monthly cost would be around 694 and we thought it was too high but the third party had told us that we could get a check from the bank for 2600 dollars to help pay off the payments until we could refinance in 6 months. then they called us days later saying that if my husband cosigned it then they could give us another 1000 dollars on the deal. well i recieved a check in the mail only for 1000 dollars and were still fighting john c. on the deal saying that it was unprofessional for them to hire a third party and for them not to uphold their deal. this has been the worst expreiance i have had with a dealership.

They should have checked prior to see if they would qualify for the vehicle. I agree that she was embarrassed about the whole situation. If you want a payment amount then you should stick to it. I'm sure most of the problem with the financing was due to no down payment. If you want to make sure you qualify, put money down. Te only way you qualify for 0 down is if you have perfect credit otherwise put down some money, that will also help with your payment amount also.

This sounds a little farfetched. Bowditch has been in business for 60 years for a reason- Customer Service- I have been buying and servicing my cars there since 1983 and have had nothing but top quality service. I know the folks at Bowditch would have tried to correct this situation in any way possible and it probably comes down to this lady was more embarrassed than anything that she didnt qualify for the car.
I will continue to use Bowditch for all my car buying and servicing needs. They are the best.
