BLUE MEDIA YELLOW PAGES:

This same scam is still going on. I was told the company name was blue media yellow pages. This name has never been registered online. There are also other complaints about a company called blueyellow pages. I do not know if this is the same company.

I am not sure if they changed thier name from blueyellow pages or if it is another scam company. However, everything else sound exactly the same as the complaints on here.

I was told that I signed up to be a member of a service I know nothing about. They told me that they had my recorded voice saying yes to the service. I don't think that would be hard to accomplish with todays technology. But they refused to play it for me.

To top that off I was told that I have been a member for 2 years and owe them 700 dollars or I was going to be sent to collections. They did not feel there was any need to bill me or contact me until two years later.

Hmm. Does that about sum up the conversations with these people?

What a load of garbage. These people need to go away. Contact your local consumer protection agency and AG to file a complaint. C0ntact the news or media and let them run with it if they have time. BBB is not a source for the public. Yes you can file a complaint with them but they work for the company not for the consumer. If the company does not pay to be a member then you are waisting your time. However, more feedback is better.

Don't let this go. Some poor person at this moment is thinking they are going to be sent to collections and maybe enough so that they will actually send them money. Stand up for yourself and the people around you. File a complaint. It only takes a few minutes of your time.

I'm not sure what you can do to recoup your money except seeking an attorney's advice. I would definitely file a complaint with your attorney general and also with the Better Business Bureau in the state of Nevada where Yellow Blue Medias "offices" are. According to other complaints Yellow Blue Media's response to both attorney generals office and BBB is that they have called and "resolved" the matter with the client which we all know is untrue. Make sure you mention that in your statement. I would definitely pursue it. I'm also up for suggestion if there is anything else I can do. Good luck and I hope you get your money back.

We here at Alternate Roots were also victims of the Yellow Blue Media scam. We were asked to pay $745 and we did, now we would like to know how we could get our money back.

Well add me to the list folks! I have been dealing with "Sean Moore" Collections Manager, [protected]. He also stated that I owed $745.00, I requested a signed contract which he could not provide, he did play me a recording which was laughable because they won't play the entire thing. It even has me saying that I didn't sign up for their services. I requested that he fax me the invoice which he wanted me to admit that I received already. I told him several times no and that I never signed up for this service. He has threatened me that I will be taken to small claims court and turned over to collections. He left a message on my voicemail which I've now kept and recorded stating if I didn't make payment by end of day they were going to take immediate legal action. I called him back because the invoice said 3/11/10 and not due to 4/10/10. I asked him why he would be sending someone to collections for something that is supposedly not due yet...today is April 7, 2010. It says I'm being billed for a "mini website and on line listing". I would have never signed up for this as I already have a website and am listed in two different yellow pages as it is. This has SCAM written all over it. I called Yellow Blue Media at their [protected] number once I received the invoice and the phone was answered by a young woman with a foreign accent. I asked to speak to the head of the collections/billing dept. She asked me for which company. She answers for several companies. Their website has no contact information, it only has a space for which you the consumer can put your information and then they can contact you. I did a reverse look up for the 305 area code and that number is from Keys, Florida but Yellow Blue Media is supposedly in Las Vegas Nevada. I will be contacting the attorney general and I will pursue any further avenue to take action against these scam artists.

THIS IS A SCAM! I love how they have some of their employees on here posting comments saying this company is great. BS. Why don't they go do something that makes America better istead of ripping everybody off. They are annoying.

Same here--call claiming services for last year and asked to verify information. My wife asked to see a copy of a contract and have it sent to her. My wife then confirmed the information and asked for it to be sent to her attention-they recorded that part and said it was a confirmation of the service contract. They called back the next day and played the recording--I told them in no way was I going to pay anything--he said that my attitude was the reason i was in this mess-He was going to push this to the limit and make it hard on me now--felonies or something--Good luck

This is the same BS that I went through with YBM. They call you and say you owe $745 for a year's worth of advertising and to cancel you have to give them your info again and call to get a cancellation number. I got the bill in the mail a couple of weeks later and there office is in Las Vegas Nevada. I did not keep the bill. I sent it back to them with a letter attached saying that there was no way in hell i was paying for this and that if i received any more phone calls or bills I was going to call the police. Any advertising i have ever done you pay up front or monthly. You dont get services for a whole year and then get a bill. I do not know of any business that provides services for a year before expecting to be paid. This company is a total scam.

Thank you, Mark

I filed a complaint with the Iowa Attorney General's office and they investigated Yellow Blue Media. YBM received correspondence from the Department of Justice (Iowa), YBM attempted to explain that I was "mistakenly called by our renewal call center which is for clients that have already listed with us instead of our sales call center which is for soliciting new customers. This was a result of the wrong call table being loaded into the server at our renewal call center, which resulted in a a number of companies who were no listed with Yellow Blue Media being contacted as if they were existing customers. This is why the representative with whom he spoke believed that they were already listed with us. We sincerely apologize for this error. E__ H___ was placed on our do not call list..."

First, I think this is a smoke screen to avoid prosecution, and I think this is a definite scam. If you've been contacted or harassed by them, tell them you'll contact your state's Attorney General's office.

Thanks, Ed

I have had the same phone calls as the others above from [protected] say that I owed for a year subscription I refused to give them any more info than they already had and told them that I never authorized any advertisment. thay assured me that they had voice authorization. I asked to listen to it and he said he would put it in with my billing . BS. what is going to burn a cd for me? I called the FBI to see what could be done about it and they told me just don't talk to them they are working out of the country using prepaid phone cards and such. I asked if we could do anything to shut them down and she said no because they are working out of the country . If you get these calls you do not owe them money just hang up the phone before they get any more info from you.

It is a well known fact that dealing with telemarketing agents can sometimes be one of life's most stressful and stagnating experiences.

Harassing calls, threats and use of obscene language can pressurize you to the edge and moreover, a collector may embarrass you by contacting your employer or even be pursued to disburse for a debt that is not rightfully yours.

There are limits on how far telemarketers can go, that is why we provide information on how to put an end to telemarketer calls and more efficiently, how to correspond with them about your account and/or to dispute a collection action and can teach you what are your rights in terms of privacy.

You can find out more information on our website: www.spgconsultants.webs.com

By informing each other, we protect each other.

Sincerely,

These guys have no shame and should be investigated. They called my business today and I just chewed them out. Stanley and Eugene (you know who you are), find a decent business and quit preying on innocent people. Your mother would be ashamed.

I don't understand how you people feel this company could be a scam, sham, or conspiracy against you. Is it possible that maybe you or a coworker did infact place an order an you just feel that you have nothing better to do with your time but complain and dispute your obligations? I guess it is our right as Americans.

Need guidance, YBM did phone me a month ago yet they only recorded part of the conversation. They said I "had to" close the account before they could proceed, I stupidly did so and now that's the only portion of the conversation they have recorded. They did not keep the portion where I ask them for last year's recording of our personnel asking for the "service". They state that they only keep on recording on file, and that's the one.

Does the company I work for have to pay now because of that partial recording? I'm waiting for our general counsel to return so I can discuss - fortunately he's a great guy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Why is this company or group of people allowed to continue to prey on businesses?

Read this article from January 2009:
http://www.salem-news.com/articles/february042009/bbb_release_2-4-09.php

It even lists their mailing address. These people should be in jail. I'd be interested in finding out what has been done if anything.

I got hit with this same scam company today. I was only half listening when the call came in because it was clearly a telemarketer. I tend to be as nice as I can to telemarketers because I figure we all have to make a living somehow. I will listen briefly normally and then kindly say I am not interested and try to disengage. If they don't digengage I will gently hang up.

This woman states that she is calling to confirm my listing on yellowbluemedia.com I know full well that I have never heard of yellowbluemedia much less purchased a listing from them. I told her we were not interested and she asked if I had a pen and paper. I asked what for and she said at the end of the call I would get a cancellation number for my subscription. I said I don't have a subscription and she said oh yes you have had a listing for the last year. I replied that I wasn't paying for anything and I had not listed anything. She said they have the authorization on file and that they bill at the end of the term. (bull - no reputable business bills at the end of term)

I said I am not interested in even talking with you and have no intention on paying you anything. I stopped then and said what i do want is some info on your company. She replied "Well, you said you have no interest in talking with me" and hung up.

It never ceases to amaze me the length that people will go to scam people. Sadly, there are plenty of businesses out there that will not be aware that it is a scam and will process the bill for payment. I am a small business and I keep tabs on all expenditures - large corporations may not and I can see the scam working in some instances.

Something needs to be done about them. Is there any way to track their actual location. They should be arrested.

We received a call from Yellow Blue Media offering a free trial. When we called to cancel we spoke with someone who called himself "Doug White" at extension 0468. We received a cancellation verification number and they asked my husband questions and were recording.
Every time my husband said "I'm not paying, I was supposed to get this for free. I want to cancel." Unfortunately, this happened repeatedly. This "Doug" finally told my husband that it couldn't be cancelled unless they went through the proper channels and that the only way they could cancel it they had to send a bill. Then he was to call the number on the bill and provide his cancellation number. THIS IS ENTRAPMENT!

The bill came and he called the number on the invoice and got ahold of a female. He told her that he had a cancellation verification number and that he needed to talk to Doug White at extension 0468. She told him he no longer worked there. She gave him yet another number to call Janet at [protected].

He called "Janet" and told her he had a cancellation verification number. "Janet" had his number on record and read it right off to him. She said she would have to pull up the recording of the conversation and that she would call back in 10-15 minutes. (By the other reports we see where this is heading as he was lured into saying what they wanted.)

She called back. My husband told her right away about how they kept stopping and starting the recording every time he said I'm not going to pay. She said what ever the recording said is what she would go with. She played it. It was a recording verifying the mailing address and that we would be billed. They edited out every time my husband said that he wasn't going to pay.

He stated again what he was told and what happened.

She said that "Doug White" doesn't exist and he never worked there and that we were making it up to get out of paying the bill. (Remember the lady before said "He doesn't work there any more) She said "Its people like you that give this world a bad name. It's people like you who try to get out of things and don't pay their bills." She had the nerve to ask "Did someone hold a gun up to your head?"

She really started getting nasty with all sorts of threats and swear words. She kept threatening to call some number that would make people like him pay. He said that she was very unprofessional and that he was going to report Yellow Blue Media to the better business bureau. He also stated that he was recording her.

She said "I'm going to end this call" and hung up. We are not going to pay and we are filing complaints.

Just received a call from Yellow Blue Media and dido to everything that has been said here already. They also stated that to close the account with them I had to verify information, as soon as they said that an invoice of $745 with the closed account would be sent to me, I said, "How can you invoice me for something I didn't agree to?" They tried to assure me that I agreed to it two years before on March something... They said that I would be receiving a call from their accounting department. Next, dial tone. I contacted the Iowa State Attorney's office and filed a complaint against them.

I received a call today on my business line stating verbatim what the others have said. "Karen", from Yellow Blue Media, told me my online listing was going to expire on Friday and asked if I wanted to renew which I replied that I never had a listing with them and she said they called my firm last July and that I agreed to a listing. I am the only one at my firm authorized to make such a decision and I never did. She told me she would put me through to the "cancellation" department and then I could settle up my account of over $700. I will be filing every complaint I can. DO NOT give them any information!

Deja Vu. I could take the time to repeat what several others already stated but it would be redundent. This company is using the phone to elicit money for a service that was never asked for or even heard of until the demand for $745.00. If I receive an invoice it will become evidence for fraud and a case will be initiated with the state attorney general as well as the FCC.

Exact thing happened to us today. They called last week claiming that we owed them $700+ for an ad we verbally agreed to last year. We asked for proof and someone was going to call us back. Had another call today from the "billing" department wanting to confirm our information was correct so they could send us a bill. We said we wanted to hear the proof that we did indeed agree to the ad. The woman claimed she was in the billing department and received our file and was finishing up. We asked if we could hear the proof. She said there was a number on the invoice we could call. We told her we were supposed to get a call back from the guy that called last week. She told us there was no "record" of a previous call (RED FLAG)! Finally after our demands, she quit and said that someone would call us back. We will see what happens. They are not getting our money!

Sounds very similar to our experience today. Unsolicited call from "Yellow Blue Media" rang into one of our business lines. A "Miss Andersen" asked if we wanted to extend our service (having been a client with them for a year according to their records). After stating that we had never heard of them and therefore could not be a client, she indicated they have phone voice authorization records indicating we agreed to the service (on line web listing). Again indicated that we never heard of them and we were not interested. She then indicated she would close our account out and send us our final billing (of over $700).

Began extensive direct questioning of the caller: Name, spelling, name of business, what is their phone number (claimed there was no number as it was all "computer generated") and asked where the company was located (was told "Las Vegas" and nothing more; when pressed for a physical address of the company, she put her "supervisor" on the line).

This gentleman: "Jeff" (refused to give his last name, moreover claimed he never gives it out) then proceeded to argue with me what Miss Andersen just did or did not say. He claimed no employee of their company ever asked us to remit $700+ and that the listing was a free service. Indicated to him that he had some training to do as this clearly was not the case and that doing so using a phone probably constituted telecommunications fraud. Jeff then got belligerent stating they were too busy to deal with people "like me".

Found this statement very interesting and told him so, seeing as their staff had called us. Indicated that their actions and business practices where very circumspect and that we would be filing a complaint with the FCC. At which point Mr. Jeff chose to swear at me and DARED us to file against them.

We did immediately file a complaint with the FCC. IF we receive a "billing" from these people we will also file a complaint with the Postmaster Generals office (using the mail in such a manner most likely constitutes mail fraud, another federal offense).

Original writer is correct: stand up and do NOT be bullied into believing that you signed up for something you did not. Also do not let it go. FILE complaints and make reports with all federal and state agencies. Its the only way to make disreputable businesses like this go away.
