This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

I purchased a Black Widow Scooter in early June. That evening we tried to ride the scooter and the brakes were rubbing on the caliper and also on the back tire. I tried to contact the company the same day to see if there was a fix and have not received any response for over 1 month. I asked for a manual also, to see if I could make some adjustments, but have not received the manual either. The next day the back "Fender/wheel cover" fell off and there does not appear to be a good way to reattach. The scooter is also not starting properly or idling properly. A plastic piece on the pull start broke also. Also the front fender is very flimsy and appears ready to break. The seat is not sturdy and wiggles and the steering is the same. The paint and friction paint on the base is messy and is starting to come off.

This scooter is of poor quality and they never return emails or phone calls. It is like they don't exist once you purchase the product. I have requested an RMA number for return, but they never send it. They say on the site you can't return "used merchandise". The scooter I got from them is still new as we packed it in the box after trying the product out, but it soon started to fall apart. And no, I am not a competitor looking to discredit this company. I just want to return the scooter and get my money back. The way it stands I will be out over $100 in shipping, but the worst part is the disappointment of my son. He was so excited to get this by the summer. Now summer is passing him by. I have been working with my credit card company to get a refund and now going to the Chicago BBB and the Illinois Attorney General.

I have never gone through the process, but will if I have to. I refuse to let them off "scott free"! Will be going to other websites also. The BBB has a bunch of complaints against them as do others at yahoo merchant ratings.

You might not be surprised but I'm in the same situation as you are. I spent over $500 on my scooter and it does not work as promised. There website (http://www.blackwidowinc.com/) hasn't been selling scooters for over a year now. Also there phone numbers are no longer in service and they do not reply to their emails. This makes it impossible to get into contact with there company. I'm still extremely fed up and I'm wanting to get my money back even if this means taking it to the next level. I even purchased the so called "life time" warranty and I realize that was a complete waste of money. How can a warranty be useful when you can't even get into contact with them? This company is extremely shady. I'm still very sicken. I remember being so happy looking at the pictures on there website and wanting that scooter so badly. Once in came in the box it had problem from the very freakin beginning. It was such a disappoint and I still haven't gotten it working correctly to this date (2-3 years later). I also found a local repair stop that made a temporary fix but of course that didn't last long due to the cheap materials the thing is made out of. I sent them the receipt and they still haven't sent me a check as promised in there lifetime warranty.

Please contact me if you've found a way to get a refund or if your wanting to take this to the next level in getting are money back!

PS: I still have a picture of there website: http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/1163/blackwidowi.png (I have more if anyone needs them)

OMG! My son and I went through the same thing beginning in early July '06. Junk right out of the box; hard to start; won't stay running; fender fell off; lousy brakes; tires worn out; loose, wobbly and (in my opinion) dangerous steering. Got thru on one of 3+ dozen toll calls to company and was promised parts that arrived about 1.5 months later!

Many emails, majority unanswered. The only time I got them to answer was with Subject lines like "I WANT MY MONEY BACK". They fed me the usual line about being able to accept it back once gas was put in it etc. I wasn't buying and they eventually gave me an RMA # and where to ship for full refund.

I spent $75 shipping the darn thing and they NEVER were at the shop and DHL shipping was unable to deliver.

They finally answered a final email and told me "Just keep the scooter, we are moving to a larger facility, thus causing the DHL hassle. We have no contest to your dispute." 2nd time they pulled the 'moving to a larger facility' excuse.

Ordered the scooter in early July and got the refund (not shipping though) in early November!

Piece of junk is still sitting in the garage. Last time I tried PartsForScooters.com was selling 'widow' parts and were good to deal with.

I purchased a Black Widow Scooter in last fall for my son. From the day the scooter arrived, it had problems. We finally got it running using a local repair shop, more three weeks after it arrived. We purchased the "Lifetime Warranty" and were to be reimbursed for the repair shop charges. To this day have not received a dime. Throughout the whole process we have had to place numerous calls and NEVER received a return call. We had to get lucky enough to catch them in or call the sales line to get someone to answer. We have since had numerous problems and many promises that parts would be shipped. Parts were only received after 100's of attempts to get them to respond.

The rear fender has fallen off. The tires have leaked air since day one. The handle bars are loose and rattle. The brake calipers are cheap and rub badly against the disks. The scooter is just of VERY poor quality. The "Lifetime Warranty" is also just a scam. They keep "warranty" costs down by making it it difficult to get in touch with them and, if you do, they lie about the parts being shipped!

Do yourself a favor and stay FAR FAR AWAY!

purchased as a gift for my son and to this day it will not crank without a new plug. The starter cord broke the first day , then the front fork baring adjustment came pre-stripped from the factory. I orderd a new carb 3 weeks ago and it still not here. This is not a quality product and I would be ashamed if I sold one to my worst enemy.

I think I will make a mail box out of what's left.

not a happy camper,
Stan

I ordered directly from Black Widow Inc and received total CRAP. They shipped a broken piece of junk to me and will not refund/exchange it for me. Terrible customer service and a scam. AVOID this company.

Sub: Extremely poor quality scooter

I purchased a Black Widow Scooter online. It took nearly (2) weeks longer to receive the scooter than they stated. After receiving the scooter and assembling, it took nearly an hour to get it to start. I had to completely remove the front brakes because the scooter would not run with them in place. The scooter was ridden 1 time and has not started since. The seat and steering wheel are very wobbly and the back fender fell off. If anyone knows of a number to call, please let me know as the company will not respond to e-mail.

Well i just ordered a black widow from black widow inc. After reading about them on different sites I'm glad it's coming c.o.d. I just might tell them to forget i even called. I hate dealing with shady, wishy, washy people. They should be punished for messing with peoples lives... if not for us, but for those kids who just couldn't wait for their new scooter!

My boys received 2 Black Widow Scooters from their Grandpa for christmas. They have never run right, they won't idle or stay running. I have tried to contact the company with no return contact. We have $700 wrapped up in a bunch of junk & no way to get it back! This is so disappointing for my boys!
