Regional Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center / RegionalVet.com Unethical Behavior/Ripoff/NO compassion/Liars

Regional Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center 4250 NJ-42, Turnersville, NJ 08012 This place needs to be put out of business! The staff is cruel, indecent, disrespectful, unethical and non-compassionate. I'm the mother(writing this) for my daughter who had a very bad experience here over the holidays. You hurt my daughter & family, that means I hurt! The stress and tears my daughter and her family endured doing this time of having to put the baby down to rest should not of been taken so lightly from your "heartfelt" staff! They were initially told their baby would live and that she had extensive wounds, but not life threatening. They were told she would need an immediate surgery followed by 2-3 more surgeries averaging $2, 500 each. Over 3 days they asked for money every day or they wouldn't continue their care. The 3 day total came to $5000 and the dog only had one surgery thus far. The worst part is this tragedy happened while they were on vacation in Florida and couldn't change their flight home to see their baby. After they landed at midnight on the 3rd day the dog was in the hospital, they drove from the airport to visit their dog at 1:30am on the 3rd day and were told the same story ... "The dogs vitals were good and that barring a cardiac arrest during one of the future surgeries she should be ok". After their visit, the staff wanted to discuss finances. My daughter owed them $1, 000 at this point and she told them she drained her savings and that she was going to have to try and figure something out for any future monies that would be owed. She wasn't able to get approved through care credit and they would not work on the dog unless they were paid money first. At 8am, after having spent that much money ($5, 000)and being told their dog would survive and that it would just be a matter of time, they were told they needed to put her down because" her organs were failing". Two minutes after being put down, they were pulled into a side room and the "finance" girl came in and said "how are we going to get the bill taken care of?". They were asking for another $3, 300 for work they did overnight that was not talked about or approved by my daughter! It seemed as though once the funds dried up, the hospital staff's attitude changed from saying the dog would survive to my daughter having to put her down. The whole 3 day ordeal felt like they were more interested in the money than the well being of the dog. Very very sad!

I hope your dog is recovering and on the way to feeling better.

It is upsetting when their little lives are counting on us to be taken care of and they are so near death.

Proof reading is usually the last thing on our minds.

Our dog had ingested something sharp and Kirkwood Animal Hospital removed it along with about a foot of his intestines.

Following all the required post operation care instructions, two weeks later, instead of getting stronger, he got weaker.

He couldn't even finish his walk and I had to carefully carry him home.

We took him back to Kirkwood Animal Hospital. They said his stitches must have opened internally but were not able to do an emergency surgery that weekend.

That cost us $2326.00.

They referred us to U. of P. Veterinary Hospital which we called and made an emergency appointment that morning.

U. of P. admitted him 8:00 AM that early morning and said he would be the first operation that morning. They did blood work and said his blood was contaminated with fecal matter. They suspected his intestinal stitches opened and he was leaking fecal matter internally.

We left him in their care and they said he would be operated on immediately. They made me feel safe leaving him with them.

Seven hours later we called and found out he still was not operated on. They had him lying in a crate because they had "other operations to do first".

Fourteen hours later they said they just opened him up and found more of his intestines were ripped up. His blood was too contaminated and he had about one more hour to live. If we wanted to see him before he died we had to get there quick.

I drove to the hospital fighting back tears and he died on the table with me holding him.

U. of P. Veterinary Hospital still charged us $2200.00 for the "emergency" operation that took fourteen hours to even get started.

I believe if they had started the operation first thing as they said they would, he may have had a fighting chance to live.

He was only two years old, full of life and I miss him.

Kirkwood Animal Hospital sent us a condolences card which was very thoughtful and appreciated.

U. of P. Veterinary Hospital just sent us the bill.

I do not trust U. of P. Veterinary Hospital anymore.

Regional Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center / RegionalVet.com Horrible Quality Service

This hospital is a complete rip off and is not dedicated to the health and service of the animals that go there. My dog broke his leg and we rushed him to the hospital. The triage nurse that was assisting us was quite rude. The amount of money that they required me to pay upfront for my dog's optional surgery was ridiculous. When we asked if we could not pay all of it right away because we don't have $4000 just sitting around, but we do have pet insurance, she just shrugged and said that we'd have to go somewhere else. Who says that? While he was in the hospital we visited, and the nurses complained about his whining all of the time- he's a puppy who had just undergone surgery what do you expect? A couple of days after the surgery I noticed that his splint was slipping so I made an appointment for him to get checked and rebandaged. He wouldn't eat that day and I told the nurses that he did not eat anything at all and if they could let him have something after the examination because I had to drop him off and go to work at 11AM. When I came to pick him up at 6:30PM, I asked if they fed him, they said no and gave me a blank look as if my expectations were too high. I just SPENT almost $4500 so far for my dog to live, and you can't give him just a little bit to eat?! When he came home he just flopped down on his bed like a limp body and didn't move to make himself comfortable. I thought he was going to die! I quickly gave him some soft food and he ate it. My poor dog was starving the entire day and they didn't care. I am used to having to spend alot on quality care for my dogs, but I expect a great level of care and respect as a customer especially when I am spending that kind of money. I will never go back to this hospital- they also ripped me off a couple hundred dollars and couldn't explain what the charges were. The front desk promised that the office manager would look at the numbers again and would give me a call- SHE NEVER DID.

Regional Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center / RegionalVet.com Dangerous Doctors

I took my 8 week old Weim puppy to be vaccinated there and two days later my baby was lethargic. We took her back that night and they told me she seemed okay. The next day she was unable to open her mouth, stand on her own, and unable to drink. I took her back that night and that's when the real nightmare began. The doctor told me that she had some horrible disease and that he would need to xray her paws. The "nurse" put the xrays under another dogs name but assured me it was my puppies paws. Next she said the dog had an ear infection so she treated that, then she came in with medication for my 8wk old puppy and it had a Lab. Ret. name on the medication. After a $1000.00 vet bill I took my puppy home after they wanted me to keep her there in the ICU for $500.00. The very next day I took the puppy for a second opinion who told me she "didn't" have a horrible disease but just a vaccine reaction...no ear infection...and after a steriod injection she was getting better within minutes. Please, Please, Please avoid this hospital and pass it along to all family and friends! I did!

You can file a report with the NJ state Veterinary board. I've seen with my own eyes-they just care about how much money is in your check book. Call them for a spay estimate and then call the other vets in the area- you'll see they are 300 % more then the local vets in the area. They have no good consumer reports all negative... check out [redacted], indeed.com, BBB. But yet the ad reads in the phone book-best care for your best friend... yea right... The staff turn over is horrible! you never see the same doctor either...something is not right-----i guess if all you care about is money and not the patient---i guess this is what happens. beware dangerous doctors and techs... take your business eleswhere.

I agree - there needs to be a complaint filed. Easier said than done, sadly. Wish I knew the best way to go about filing a complaint to an official veterinary board cuz I have a couple I would like to file myself. :-p

What a darn shame. Anyone who sees this kind of reaction after a vaccination should know that it is a vaccine reaction and that a competent vet will administer a cortisone shot to counter the reaction. I no longer have my pets receive annual boosters, but when my dogs receive their 3-year rabies shot, I ask my vet to combine it with cortisone; no further problems! Your vet was either incompetent or dishonest. Either way, he/she should be reported to the local Veterinary Board.

Regional Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center / RegionalVet.com pricing/ level of service

I recently took my dog into the hospital for dental cleaning and tooth removal. I dropped my dog off at 7:00 in the morning. I hadn't heard anything from the hospital, so around 3:00 I gave them a call. I was told that they hadn't even seen her yet. I get a call around 5 or 6 and am told that I could pick her up at 10:00. What was the purpose of getting my dog there at 7:00 if they were going to leave her in a cage all day. Maybe they could have just told me to drop her off at 3:00. Very poor planning and scheduling on thier part. The bill was also very different then the estimate I was given. It was way over the amount I was given. So it appears that someone over there cannot schedule properly and can also not do simple math and give me a somewhat accurate estimate. I guess that brand new, state of the art facility will not pay for itself. So lets jack up the prices for our customers. Great job guys. We are also still waiting for a call from their office manager in regards to this complaint. I called last week and left a message for her, but no response, almost a week later. Great customer service. Well you just lost a few clients, myself and I also had friends and relatives who used you. Not anymore.

Regional Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center / RegionalVet.com - vet bill

I purchased a puppy from a pet store, and three days later I had to take him to the hospital. They diagnosed him with pneumonia and kept him for a week before they sent him home with me along with a hefty vet bill. Exactly one week later, I had to return to the hospital because the puppy fell ill again. They told me that there was a 95% chance that they...
