BJ's Wholesale Club - 110% price guarantee is a fraud

I booked a vacation package through BJ's and then found a cheaper package (same exact itinerary) through Travelocity. I saw that BJ's offered a 110% Best Price guarantee. At least, that is what is displayed on the BJ's website and on the phone message when you call BJ's Travel . However, when you actually try to claim the 110%, they will only match the...

BJ's Wholesale Club bakery dept.

I'd like to voice my opinion about the Bakery Dept at the Bj's Wholesale Club in California MD. For starters, i purchased a birthday cake for a co worker, everyone's ready to sit down and cut the cake, and to our disbelief a dead fly is stuck on the side of the frosting. I return the cake to the store and ask to speak with a manager. After waiting about fifteen minutes at the customers service desk, he calls and asks the attendant what the problem is. She explains the situation and he give me a 10% off discount and exchanged the cake. Wasn't happy with the outcome but coworkers back at the office were waiting on my return with the cake.

And then there was the full sheet cake i purchased for our open house. I spoke with the bakery person a week before the event and brought in a picture of what our logo would be and if it was possible to do. She said there would be no problems doing our logo and that she'd see me the next week. I return to the store on the day of our open house to pick up the cake, the red logo had bled all over the cake.

And i guess the straw that broke the camel's back was my experience yesterday, my daughters babyshower cake i purchased at Bj's. As so many times before, i went in a few days early to discuss with the bakery person exactly how the cake would be decorated. We spent about a half hour drawing the picture on the back of my order form so everything would be perfect. We were putting mommy, daddy, sister, baby, one in each corner, a cloud in the middle with the babies name inside, balloons, rattles, blue airbrush on entire cake. Well let me just say that when i arrived to pick up the cake, there was no airbrush, the white cloud was sitting on top of a white cake, it looked like a clump of frosting in the middle of the cake with the babies name. The handwritting on the cloud and in the corners looked like a child wrote it. The cake looked terrible, i couldn't believe it. I asked the bakery person what happened to the airbrush and she said oh ok i can do that, like it wasn't even ordered to begin with. In a hurry as i usually am, i told her i was going up front to pay for the cake while she did the airbrush and i'd be right back. I was gone about ten minutes, came running back to get the cake and she is working on baking cookies. I asked her about my cake in a frantic and she said "Oh the airbrush gun isn't working, gonna have to call the manager and see if they can get it to work ". My reply was, yes please call a manager, that cake is not what i ordered . I waited for fifteen, twenty minutes and no manager, all along the while the bakery attendant is working on her baking, not trying to help me figure something out about my cake. Still no manager, i took a cake off the shelf, the same size full sheet cake i had ordered, and since it was already paid for took it to the door got checcked out and made it back to the babyshower after guest had already started to arrive. Guest at the shower mentioned that the cake tasted like it had been refrozen, needless to say i won't be buying any more cakes from bj's.

I am a regular shopper in bj's and spend a great deal of money there. I also paid for a membership that i am still unclear on exactly what it is i'm paying for? Could someone please tell me, the prices? don't think so, some things may be alittle cheaper, but no great bargains. The hours? don't think so, the same late hours for members as for non members.

While in the middle of shopping I was followed and then approached by this particular BJ's home improvement vendor for the first time not too long after the location's grand opening. Now, 3- 4 years later he still accosts me everytime he sees me in the store, despite my personally asking him to stop stalking me, and despite several complaints to store personnel and even a phone call to the vendor service. He seems to be enraged that my family went with another home improvement company instead of the one he represents (which has numerous complaints and bad reviews online, and continues for years to make annoying calls to any potential customer who was foolish enough to consider doing business with them), and so it is his intention to make each one of my BJ's shopping experiences as unpleasant as possible. His main time to accost me is while I'm waiting on the checkout line or while exiting the store. When he sees me, he passes by numerous customers wandering around and all customers on other checkout lines just to quickly make his way over to where I am standing -- even if he's at the front of the store and I'm at the very last checkout at the opposite end of the store. He actuallygot worse after I told him personally to not approach me ever again. And the fact that he's still doing this (even after all my complaints) can be easily verified by management viewing the video tape from the store's surveillance cameras.

If Valley Stream BJ's would rather keep this rude evil person under their wings than to keep me (or anyone else he's menacing) as a customer then so be it, I'll take my business to another (though out of my way) location for the time being, and NOT RENEW when my membership expires in a couple of months.

So stop shopping there. How many reasons do you need? It's called capitalism. If you don't like one place, shop somewhere else.

BJ's Wholesale Club bad service

I was in club 046 around 5:00 pm, I went to the Member Service desk to do a return on an item that I had about 15days, I didn't have my receipt, I spoke to Sharon(Manager), she was very rude to me, asking me a whole lot of questions, I don't know where she came from, she has helped me bef0re, same situation, she always has an attitude, I never won't her service again in assisting me at all, I never had no problems returning anything, Bad Service, so I will cancel my Membership, take my money somewhere else.

I've delivered products to this store for many years. The receiving department is run by idiots! One person will assign you a door only to find out that a different receiver gave the same door to another driver. The docks are disgusting, it smells like sewage and raw garbage.
Anyone thinking of shopping here or starting a membership should come to the back of the store and see the mounds of trash and broken equipment. You will smell the back of the store before you see it.

The receiving department doesn't even acknowledge your existence. They wander around aimlessly laughing and joking but not really doing anything.

The inside of the receiving department is a filthy stinking mess. People wander around aimless

BJ's Wholesale Club not a complaint

OK here's the deal and I'm telling it up straght and I'm not complaining about BJ's beer pong. My roommate and I have gotten 3 table from them and all have been great products. Here's an example I ordered a table back in December I didnt get it right away. I called them up to see what the problem was, they apologized for the delay and it came like 4 days later.

The tables are well built and customer service is great and whoever says different is wrong. Trust me on this people, I party almost everyday weekend I've witnessed these tables go through some abuse. All my friends say the tables look good.

I am posting this complaint so that others are aware BJ's Beerpong is still as shady as ever. I purchased my beerpong table and unlike many others received a tracking number. It shipped out almost immediately and arrived within 3 days. I opened it up to find it was the wrong table. It was a table that sells for far less than what I paid through a variety of more reputable sources. This is obviously something they do often because I have read of it happening to others. I called Susan the owner, who answered and hung up immediately following "I bought a beerpong table from you". Her phone was turned off after that and my emails were not returned. I was lucky because at least I have something to show for my money. Be aware you won't get what you order and your likely just to get screwed.

I ordered a "King of Pong" table and ended up getting the wrong table. My first call to Jesse got through and we worked through sending the table back to him in exchange for the correct table. I was supposed to get an email confirmation with a tracking number. After two weeks and no confirmation email I called Jesse to find out what was going on and left a message to call me back. I ended up calling three times over seven days and never got a response. Finally a beer pong table showed up at my door, it was the WRONG ONE AGAIN! I tried to call Jesse again to fix this AGAIN and AGAIN got no response. I am afraid to send this table back and then never see another table (let alone the right table) then I would be out my $150.
Jesse and BJ's Beerpong needs to learn how to deal with their mistakes and make things right. I will never buy from them again and I suggest those who read this don't either.

BJ's Wholesale Club rude tire salesman

BJ's was one of the worst retail experience I ever had. It was at the Watchung NJ store a few years ago. a tire salesmen went ballastic when I did not know the size tires on my car he became so rude and angry he swung open the door so hard that it hit the wall with a loud bang. he went outside to check my car, when he walked back into the building he said nothing and threw open the tire book, he was so angry I left I was actually scared. I went to customer service to report what happened and they said you look shakened up but did nothing. I asked to see the manager he said that it was hard to believe. I was dumbfounded. I left went to costco signed up for a membership and bought 4 new tires. for the past couple of years I bought alot at Costco with no problems, its out of the way for me but well worth it. I did write a letter to BJ's and never got a reponse just a lot of junk mail for renewing my membership. I will never go back to BJ's

BJ's Wholesale Club free trial membership

I received a postcard with an offer for a "Free BJ's Trial Membership" a few weeks ago. It said, "No Risk BJ's Trial Membership for a Minimum of 60 Days, " indicating that all I had to do was bring my card to the Member Services Desk to activate membership. I used to have a membership but had not had one for some time, so I decided to try them again because of this offer. When I went up to the customer service desk, the clerk immediately went into a canned speech about how the free trial is only good for ONE person and is ONLY for 60 days (although the card says a "minimum of 60 days, " which I don't really understand anyway). She was clearly trying to dissuade me from this offer.

After trying to convince me to sign up for the one year membership which cost $45 (that I politely declined), she looked up my name in her computer and claimed I was not eligible for the free trial since I had been a member there once before. Nothing in the mailing indicated that you could never have had a membership there before. It had been about a year since I was last a member.

When I asked why BJ's would send the offer to me then, she readily pulled out the mailing (just happened to have one under her desk?) and pointed out that BJ's had "no idea" who they were sending it to, since they were all addressed to "Friend and Neighbor." Given how quickly she had an explanation for this, I apparently was not the first to ask that question. I had thought I received it as a way for them to woo me back since I hadn't been there in quite some time. She disputed this, saying it was only for people who had never heard of BJ's before!

She then pointed to the very fine and tiny print which stated this offer was for new members only. My understanding of a new member is one who is not a current member. In other words, you can't get 60 days for free if you already have a membership. Well, this clerk and now a second clerk started ganging up on me, trying to make ME feel as though I were trying to con them into a free membership! The second clerk, especially, was rude and tried to embarrass me for trying to get my free membership. Another customer was standing there, and she pointed to her and said, "Well, why should you get a free trial when this customer has had to pay?" Which made no sense at all. I guess I should have said, "Um, maybe because I have the friggin' free trial membership card and she doesn't?"

BJ's has gone downhill in my opinion and I will not be going back. This is a bait and switch as far as I'm concerned. You show up at their invitation and then they try to push you into paying for a membership. No thank you.

Good bye, BJ's. Hello, Costco!

May I remind everyone who speaks English. You don't "try" something more than once. I love Bj's. I'm a couponer and I save loads every year on everything I need. I've gotten a boxes of cereal for $1-2 cuz they accept coupons from manufacturers. I've gotten sweepers for $5. You save money! I personally would be furious if I was paying for my membership and oters are given free trials. Pay the membership! Don't be a cheapo. I hate when people think they are entitled to something.

I can't agree enough with the comments by Cville Sierra. I had previous mailings for trial memberships and took them up on it. Now they pump me for joining and say some BS about being a member - well I'm not a member and BJ's mailed me the invitation. I might like the store better if I try it again who knows. But the rude membership pumper was obnoxious. Goodbye Bj's club forever and I will never recommend your store in fact I will go out of my way to tell people what horrible customer service you have. I also said in no uncertain terms take me off your mailing list. Lot a good that will do.

I totally agree with bugmenot2, and besides the card does say good for new members only. And if my English is any good, new means the first time, fresh on the market. If you let your membership lapse, you are not a freaking new member. Americans feel too entitled. I get at least 20 of these cards for the year. I've tried it once on a trial, doesn't mean i'm going to go there to get another one. Time to pay up. And its waste of gas just to drive for a free trial that you will only use once. Americans feel entitled to everything, you're better off buying a membership and receiving your coupons which in turn pays back the fee,

OK i work at bj's and let me tell you that was NOT the workers fault. that trial is part of a whole promotion- its called map. atleast 30% of the people we sign up in one day have to be paid memberships, not trials, or we get written up. managers are crazy about this and are yelling all day during these promotion periods- "what are we at?", "whats our percentage?".

I never was a member, but have used the free membership a few times, twice if I remember correctly, the girl at the counter gave me the third degree for not buying the full membership and was a little disrespectful about it. I told her it was not a good deal for me, I only buy a 50lbs bag of dog food when I do come, I can find anything else cheaper or as cheap somewhere else. I told her if she does not want me to use the free trial, "don't send it to me. I don't need the aggravation, and take my name off the mailing list"
I don't eat meat by the pound and I don't need 20 lbs of bananas.

May I offer a suggestion to you? Please go back to the club and ask to speak with a member of Sr. Management, the Sr. Merchant, the Operations Manager or the General Manager. One of these three should be able to give you the final answer on this. BJ's has a new program named "OTO", which stands for "Own The Outcome". OTO is designed to resolve this type of dispute in your favor. OTO comes directly from the President of BJ's, Laura Sen. The idea of trial memberships is to increase membership and along with increased memberships will come increased business. Sr. Management should be able to see this thru to a successful conclusion. Explain to them the reason you let your membership lapse. What ever the reason, it is your reason and you should stand by it. Sr. Management should except it and use it as a stepping stone to see to it you are once again thinking positive about becoming a paid member. Our members are important to us. We all try very hard to make our members shopping experience an enjoyable one. Everyone from the ovenight shelf stockers to the General Manager should be thinking "OTO". Benefiting the member and acquiring new members into our Clubs are goals #1 everyday at BJ's Wholesale Club. Please take this to a Sr. Manager.

Thank you,
Ken

A free trial usually applies only to new customers, not to lapsed customers. So, BJ's was in the right.

However, their offer to you apparently did not state this explicitly. If this is so, then it is their fault for leaving out this important condition.

So, even though ordinarily the offer would not apply to you, BJ's omission of the new customer condition means that they should have given you the free membership.

Just my opinion.

BJ's Wholesale Club rude aweful service

I am a regular Sam's club customer -Member for the past 5 years.
I wanted to try BJ's wholesale. I would horrible customer service.I had that feeling when I entered and never felt my intutions would become real there.

we were just looking at the camera section, when we pulled lightly the belt was a worn out elastic and it triggered the burgalry alarm.

Infact we did not move from the area, we were waiting for assistance .The store Incharge person had the nerve to come and show his face at us. He was as if why the heck we disturbed him. He did not have the courtesy to ask the basic question -" Can I help you".

I told him the cameras were nt working, the look and facial gestures were worse. He said it was burglary alarm and did not care whether we had to purchase the cameras or what and his answers were quite alarming and bad. I wanted to just get out of the club and not buy anything. he hasnt realized nothing comes for free - I bought there for 135 $ - My had earned money.

The workers there have to learn smile and good manners.

This BJ's club is in RT 17 - New jersey East rutherford.

That was my first shopping and I will never shop BJ's unless they have a clean training of what is customer service.
Zero customer service.

Staff everyone.I will never shop this Bj's again or any other BJ's.I will not renew this temp membership also.

LOL at the above comment! I work at BJ's. People think that just because they pay $50-$90 to shop there, they should be treated like royalty. I am the nicest person there (I work at front door) and I treat everyone with a smile and ask how they are. I very often get the receipts thrown at me, or people handing me one receipt when they know they have two, just to make sure I'm "doing my job." At night when I'm locking the doors to close the store, they push them open saying they "just have to get milk" GO TO WAWA! The people who shop there are MUCH WORSE than the people that work there. So all of you above me need to get a grip on reality.

Well damn, no wonder that manager was so rude to you, first you set of an alarm in order to get attention, and then, judging by your comment, your grammar and english skills are so horrifying how could one NOT respond negatively? The people who work in retail are people too, not slaves meant to lick your [censor] when you walk in the door. BJS workers are rude I agree but also at any time there are big lanes to pay. Today I almost got a heart attack was my second time before a big storm honest people making a big line but I don't like those people who cut in front, they don't care about others they are dishonest.I watched a few people and I'd fighted this time and the last time in another storm warning. BJ's Wholesale Club bad service

In an effort to get my business, BJs sent me a free trial membership card. The card says " No Risk BJ's Trial Membership for a minimum of 60 days." The offer expires on 7-9-07. Along with the card there was a list of BJ's outlets where the trial membership can be redeemed. One of these outlets was in College Point, Queens, New York. When I drove there to obtain my free trial membership, they gave me a song and a dance, trying to sell me a membership for $45. I insisted that the card and the letter emphasizes that it was a free 60 day trial membership. The manager was called upon and she insisted that their BJ's does not give free trial memberships. Well then, why was the address of her BJ's outlet included on the letter I received offering the free trial membership?

Copy of the letter I sent to them in regards to BJ's in Farmingdale: "I was in today to sign up for a 60 day promo. I have used these in the past, but denied this time even though it has been years since I last time. I am more upset at the way your customer care people handled me in such a rude and disdain manor. I own a 15 million dollar company (which really makes no difference) and if any of my staff were to treat anyone in the in the manor that I was treated they would no longer be part of my staff. Please remove my name from all of your mailing lists, I have no interest in patronizing your company."

They should train their staff no to judge a book by its cover! They can keep their products, there are plenty of other places on Long Island to shop and get better prices.

BJ's Wholesale Club Unfair labor practice!

I was discharged from this employment strictly to cover up complaints i had made about race & sexual referencing being committed by some of the Night Shift employee's and their Night shift manager... As the workforce was being reduced to enhance the company's profits, the extra amount of work load was being trusted upon those that the night manager did not like OR was not giving HIM specific " favors "... Some of the favors included such things as bringing him meals quite regularly and being accomplice to some of the thefts that were being committed during the night shift FOR exchange of overtime hrs that the accomplices did absolutely nothing but sit and chat with said manager.. When hearing about these complaints, said manager would file a complaint that those of US that were taking up all the extra work were not doing what he was telling US WE needed to do while the others would just stand around & chat for nearly 60% of the night... To save face and the managers position several of US have been terminated with the reason being that WE were not showing the needed improvement per said manager...

The store on Ritchie Marlboro operates one line leading to the back of the store - in which the line is for all self check out stations and staff operated check out. It seems very lazy and is an eye site and frustrating shopping experience.

hi

I am very disappointed. My company ordered this product and we received it with having mold on the cheese pieces. please send us a new one or give us a credit to add to our next order. we only do an order once month or a couple weeks so to see this is very sad.

You people have been told numerous times you DO NOT have permission to deduct my membership from my bank account I will do it in person and yet you continue to do so.

This is the final warning and if you do this again next year I will take legal action. I am sending a copy of this warning to my Lawyer.

First and foremost I am not a cashier by choice. Every time I go to BJ' I am forced to use self checkout. BJS DOES NOT GIVE ME A DISCOUNT TO CHECKOUT MY OWN ORDER, PERIOD! Hite some cashiers to do the work as you should and as it should be done. I pay a fee to shop at BJ's consider that my contribution to yiur workforce!
