Bits And Pieces Scamming on Shipping

Nine days ago, I ordered a number of small items from Bit & Pieces & have received nothing after paying $19.99 in shipping charges. While trying to ascertain where my order was, their phone rep admitted they were not able to say where my order was or when it might be delivered as "UPS had turned my order over to USPS" because my order was under 10 lbs, an effort to save on their shipping costs. Bits & Pieces apparently has arranged with UPS, which is trackable, to "dump" lighter packages into local USPS systems where the packages go into a limbo of sorts that can't be tracked. I'm all for Bits & Pieces saving on shipping costs but not at my expense. This company needs to come clean on its website and in its catalog, letting customers know that they could well endure unpredictable and non-trackable delays within the USPS if their package is lighter than 10 lbs. It was made clear to me that Bits & Pieces does not see reasonable shipping times to be a customer service responsibility of theirs.

Bits And Pieces No deliveries

Like everyone before me, they are just awful, incompetent and are ripping us off with their phone charges, They took my money on 1st December, they told me on Saturday 1oth they would be dispatched on the Monday, I challenged her over whether is wa actually true. It wasnt, because when I rang on 17th I was told they would be packed over the weekend and dispatched by Tuesday, they are telling their staff to lie.. I have contacted Consumer Direct, they have checked with Companies House to see if they are still trading. They are but are dilatory in filing their accounts. I have sent the details to Yorkshire Post in the hope that they may follow up
To add insult to injury, I cannot sign into their Website, it says it has no knowledge of me! But Customer Services has.

Bits And Pieces No customer service, missing goods, poor quality goods

Company sends out catalogues to order saying 7-14 days delivery. Small print says 28 days. I placed two orders - waited over a month for one and 42 days for the other, which never arrived. The 'courier' was one man in his own saloon car piled high with badly wrapped parcels - no boxes, just plastic wrapping. Products well photographed, very poor quality in reality. To try to get through to customer services is nearly impossible - spending 10p a minute it soon adds up. Never any response to emails. Eventually, we are now 10 days before Christmas, they say are going to cancel the order (hopefully) and refund my money. So, I am off to shop for replacement presents. I only managed to get through using the sales line - they acted like they were doing me a huge favour by contacting their own 'customer services' for me. TERRIBLE! DO NOT USE THIS DREADFUL BUSINESS.

Me too! I placed two orders - they say 7-14 days but then it's 28 in the small print. One order arrived eventually, very poor quality products, the other order never did (42 days and counting). They say the courier lost the other parcel. The courier was a man in his own saloon car not a courier company! I have spent a lot trying to get through to customer services - impossible and they have never responded to my emails. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Hoping they do refund me for the parcel - obviously not for the phone calls - an annoying scam - spread the word.

What an absolute joke this company is.
Ordered goods advertised on the web site and paid by card. A week later a letter arrived in the post with a cheque attached stating as requested here is your refund. Called customer services (how they get away with calling themselves that should be against trade descriptions) dealt with a man called BRAD who lets just say had the charm of a flea. Not interested, patronising, rude, obnoxious just to name a few.
Explained I had not contacted them and was expecting my items, was only then informed that my item is no longer available ( it is still on their web page though) asked why I had a cheque and not money paid back to my original method of payment and was informed that is the way it is and basically nothing they will do about it. Explained I am unable to get to a bank, was told to send cheque back and only then will they refund to my original method of payment. WHY DID YOU NOT DO THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE!
You are withholding the money and I will be contacting my bank and will never touch this company again with a barge pole.
If you like being messed around, patronised, insulted, having your money robbed from you and not get your items then this is the company for you, anyone with common sense STEAR CLEAR.

I ordered a jigsaw top for my 91 year old mother.
It arrived late and faulty. The handles broke when
lifting it out and the whole thing was shoddy and
flimsy. All it consisted of were bits of cardboard, I really
could have made a better one myself.
The Customer Services is non- existant. In fact I
have never come across such poor service. They
said that they would contact the courier to pick it
up but they could take up to three weeks to collect.
If it is not collected by the beginning of next week I
will be contacting Trading Standards and if I do not
get a satisfactory result I will be taking it yet further.
I have also written a letter to the Chief Executive, just
to see if he is aware of what is going on in his company .
My advice is AVOID THIS COMPANY.

An absolutely appalling company and service. Ordered goods on 29th Nov. 2014 in time for xmas delivery. When no delivery by 12th. Dec. I phoned their customer services number. Was advised that my order was with despatch and would be received by Fri 19th. December. No delivery - I phoned on 19th December and was advised my delivery would be guaranteed by xmas. Still no delivery by 1.30 xmas eve. Had to go and buy alternative presents last minute - very stressful. Phoned customer services on 29th. Dec, still no delivery and no apology - in fact it was now no problem to cancel my order - still waiting for my money back. They took my original payment within 24hrs.. DON'T DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY - in my opinion, - THEY ARE COMPLETELY USELESS !

They advertised - order now for delivery by Christmas - so I placed my order. I phoned them today, 27th December, (paying the 10p a minute plus normal costs), to find out why my stuff hadn't arrived in time for Christmas. I was told that the items have 'Just arrived in the warehouse'. At no point, either when I placed my order, or subsequently, had I been told that they were out of stock or weren't going to arrive in time for Christmas. So I asked if it had now been dispatched as it has arrived in the warehouse and was told, 'No, the warehouse is on holiday until the 2nd January'. And to think I paid £4.99 delivery charge for this service!

This has to be one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I placed an order on 3rd December. Received email confirmation shortly after. The money had left my account by the 9th. It is now the 20th of December and, seeing as I've received nothing in return and I'm running out of time, I thought I'd best ring them. I got through relatively easily, compared to some commenting above, and after reporting that nothing had arrived, was put through to customer services and a 'snippy' young man called Dale. I was told my order had been dispatched on the 7th. 'Nothing's arrived', I told him, and he said no, 'it became lost at the depo by the looks of it. Its about the size of three football pitches, that Hermes depo!' 'Can't you track it down?' I stupidly asked. 'No. That's why it's lost.'
He offered to re-send the order but pointed out that it wouldn't arrive until January. Fine! After a short while he came back to me and said that two of the original three items were now out of stock. That is where my patience ran out! I've asked for a full refund, done through gritted teeth, seething as I was, which, according to Vicky Pollards brother, should be back in my account within three working days. It Had Better Be. As well as the seemingly total disregard for their stock, I also find it strange that with both people I spoke to, neither one wanted the order ID issued with their acknowledgement email when offered.
Bits And Pieces! The home of puzzles? The only Puzzle, is how they're still trading!

I ordered a jigsaw and storm glass barometer. The wrong size jigsaw puzzle arrived - not sure if this was my fault, but was happy to send back to replace with the correct size. Tried the phone but left on hold, and will not sit there while the money mounts up. I have emailed 3 times now and still no response. Do not understand why it is so difficult to reply to an email within a week! Terrible, terrible service. Would recommend anyone to steer clear of this company. What annoys me, is that their catalogue was in a People's Friend which the elderly population read, imagine the stress they would have to go through to put a problem right. If you got your order without a problem and not had to contact Customer Services, lucky you... you are sure to be in the minority.

Of the two items I ordered from Bits & Pieces - the Pyramid Clock does not work - and the Storm Glass Barometer arrived, padly packed and broken - with a "noxious" fluid soaked into the cardboard packaging & brochures/correspondence enclosed.
I emailed Customer Services three days ago but have yet to receive an acknowledgement or reply. I will be using "Which? Legal Services" if I do not get my costs refunded - including postage (as this is a requirement of The "Distance Selling Regulations UK 2000").

Utterly dreadful outfit, who, surprisingly in this day and age, take the money as soon as they take the order - in our case some weeks before delivery. Customer service isn't even a consideration. As many people have already suggested the only course of action is to avoid them like the plague.

Bits And Pieces Damaged Goods and Poor Customer Service

My mother ordered a folding jigsaw table (@£149) and it arrived damaged. She has now made 10 phone calls (many waiting in a queue for half an hour or more) on an 0871 number at 10 pence per minute and has been promised that a courier will come and collect the damaged goods. Some 6 weeks on, nobody has called. She has left several messages for some onew to get in contact with her and nothing has happened to date. My best advice is DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - THEY ARE RUBBISH!

Why should they bother shipping goods when they make more money from their phone charges (0871 plus network charges) when anyone orders or complains. Their stuff is not unique and is available elsewhere, just go on line and look. No, I have not ordered anything from them as I smelled a rat straight away. I'm very surprised The Telegraph prints their adverts.

I ordered 2 items on 13th November they said was in stock took the money off my credit card straight away then 1 week on they sent me a letter to say due to unprecedented demand there would be a delay of no more then 3 weeks. I called on December 2nd and was told they were now in stock and were on the way. On the 16th December when nothing had been delivered I called again and was told whoever said they were on way got it wrong and that it was being dispatched now. When I said that this was needed for 23rd December and if it did not arrive that I would have to return them and they should pay for the return because someone on there side messed up they replied that I would have to pay to return even though they have had my money for a month and they were not at all bothered by my prediciment. I told them i would not use them again and they still were not bothered. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Ordered goods 27 November. Total lack of communication about my order. Repeated calls to customer services with no reply. I tried the order line too, thinking that they might answer this, but still no answer after 30minutes. Two e-mails, still no response. Infuriating - the worst customer service I have experienced in a long time. I will never use them again.

Bits And Pieces Rip off!

In March 2008, Blue Sky Co., which owns Bits and Pieces and Paragon Gifts shut down. This is why we have no access to the company, Bits and Pieces, that has ripped us off. Now I know I will never see the 40.00+ dollars that this company owed me for a return of unordered, unwanted mdse. See the website Direct Commerce Systems for more detail.

Bits And Pieces Atrocious customer service

My experience seems to be pretty similar to that of others. In a nutshell, I ordered several items for Christmas 2007. The order was shipped -- missing three items and a packing slip. I called five times before Xmas, but the phone system hangs up on you after being on hold about two to three minutes.

I finally got through to a real person on 12/28. She gave me yet another phone number, saying "when the recording gets to 'as soon as possible,' start punching in the number 3." Lordy. However, it works. Got through to a living person today, who put me on hold yet again. Second call immediately after got me a supervisor "Stephanie." She says she's processing a refund for the missing items, plus my shipping, so we'll see what happens.

FYI, Stephanie's direct number is supposedly [protected]. She says she's the customer service supervisor and works M-Thurs. from 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Mountain Time (add two hours for Eastern, two for Central, and drop an hour for Pacific). The first person I talked to today said she herself is a temp, and doesn't know anything about the business itself. However, I pressed her for an address, and she said it's on Decker Street in Salt Lake City. Couldn't give me a street number, though.

Good luck with your problems -- I hope mine is solved. We'll see if the credit is posted.

Bits And Pieces Horrible company to deal with!

Placed order on Dec 3, it is Dec 22 and I have not received my order. I have called repeatedly over the last week and it is simply impossible to get though. E-mails have gone unreturned. When I did get though to customer service I was told my order was shipped on the 14th and that tracking showed it was somewhere in Michigan (I live in MI). Guess I will have to go out and buy replacement X-mas presents this weekend as I obviously won't be getting my order by Christmas. I think this company is a scam! This whole experience has stressed me out!

My mother-in-law bought 2 gifts for my kids from this company. She had others ordered but after weeks of waiting she ~finally~ (another story) got through to them and found out they canceled her order without informing her.

Of the two gifts we got from her, one was a toy that came with a thick permanent black marker with destroyed my daughter's Christmas sweater and ruined our cherry floor. Who would put a permanent black marker in a child's toy? Not too smart.

The other gift was a marble gear master, a construction toy. Critical pieces are missing. I've have called their number non-stop for days and only get a busy signal. The instructions are not only lousy, there is no information on who to call for replacement parts.

All in all, I would say they're a pretty ### organization.

I will never purchase anything from Bits and Pieces again! I placed an order with Bits and Pieces on 12/1/07. Their website says that orders should be received within 7-10 business days. Once that time-frame had passed, I tried numerous times to reach Customer Service, but they have a recording saying they're too busy to take the call and then it kicks you off after about 5 minutes of holding. I finally found a person to speak to by calling their Sales line. They couldn't help me, but they transferred me to Customer Service and after holding for about 10 minutes, I actually had a live person to help me. They told me my order had shipped on 12/9. I don't understand why it took them 9 days to fill my order, but at any rate, I was able to get a tracking number from her. I tracked it for a few days and wasn't getting detailed info from UPS online. When I called UPS they told me that Bits and Pieces chose a service in which UPS only take the package as far as a nearby town to the recipient and that the post office would be delivering it to my home. With my package in the post office's hands, I had no way to track the package. It finally showed up on 12/17 (17 days after ordering) and one of the items was broken. This was supposed to be a Christmas gift for my grandmother and it barely arrived in time for me to ship it back out to her for Christmas, but for it to also come to me broken was a real disappointment. What was I going to send her now? I've been trying since then to reach Bits and Pieces to inquire how I can return the broken item to them without having to pay the postage myself, afterall, I didn't break it! I've had no luck reaching anyone live at the company. My next step is going to be emailing them with a threat to dispute the item on my credit card if they don't cooperate with me. Wish me luck!

Dealing with Bits and Pieces is by far the WORST experience I have ever had with mail order. Mid-December I ordered 2 puzzle boxes. The total for 2 equally priced boxes was $80.97. I was shipped one box and charged $50.98. Huh? I figured this was just crazy accounting, the other box would show up shortly, and the balance of $29.99 would be charged at that time...

When it did not by the end of January, I called to check on the status. I was informed that "the requested item has been discontinued and is no longer available to purchase". I argued that since I had a confirmed order that said I would be receiving two boxes that it was not appropriate for them to restructure the order and charge me that much for a single box without my approval. I was rudely informed the details of an order could not be check for an order "that far back". I asked if I could send my confirmation to them and they could look at it and let me know if they would make a correction. Not having heard back by the beginning of May, I called again. After being rudely asked, "What do you expect me to do? I can't send you a discontinued item," she ended with the same story: "Send your order confirmation and I'll look at it." I said I’d sent it before and never heard back. Rochelle told me to put her name on it and she’d take care of it. Now I'll get some results. No such luck. I never heard from Rochelle. I just got the same reply: "the requested item has been discontinued and is no longer available to purchase". I tried a few time to e-mail and indicate that I knew the item was discounted and that that was not the issue. No luck, just "the requested item has been discontinued and is no longer available to purchase."

Well, it turns out THIS IS A BOLD FACED LIE. Mid-May I ordered 2 of the boxes I have repeatedly been informed were discontinued and no longer available for purchase and they have shipped to me. They had them in stock for purchase. What a scam! You think someone along the line would have said, "We now have that item in stock and will gladly finish filling your order if you’d like". Of course then they would have only been able to charge me the outstanding $29.99 on my original order. If they made me reorder they could nab another $50.98. I called again and was told that “the requested item has been discontinued and is no longer available to purchase" meant, "We could not get it to you by Christmastime, so didn’t what to disappoint you by having it arrive late." WHAT?!?! Well you’ve more that disappointed me. You've proved you are more that bad a customer service - you are underhanded and deceitful.

DON'T, DON'T, DON'T USE THIS COMPANY! WORST EVER USED!

Ordered in December, guaranteed Christmas delivery. Notified 12/22, Saturday, via email that delivery guarantee couldn't be met due to high volume of orders. Called immediately to cancel order but received recording to call during M-F business hours. Tried using their live web customer service but was told same thing. Someone was working on Saturday in order to send out the email! Found email address in contact info and sent email.

Received items 1/7/08. Tried to call to get it sent back w/no charge. Was put on lengthy hold, then told that due to heavy call volume the call wouldn't be answered and told to call back after 6:00 p.m. mountain time. Did and got a message to try again. Tried today and received same run around.

Bits And Pieces Scam and cheating!

On 12/10/2007 I thought I had placed an online order with B&P only to wait many days with no delivery or hint of delivery/problem. On 12/20 I went to their website again and logged into my account. Oddly enough, it said that I had never placed an order with them however, my list of Items You Have Ordered showed all the items I had thought I had, indeed, ordered, and an Order Number was shown, identical for each.

Today 12/21/2007 I've found it impossible to reach them by phone and by email. The only real voice I ever heard said that "I'll give you a different number for that" after I had only indicated I'd had a problem with an online order. When I tried to send an email (essentially saying "don't charge me if you eventually discover I had placed an order") came back as an invalid email address. THESE PEOPLE ARE WORTHLESS. Oddly enough, my wife had a successful order/delivery with them, but it was before the busy time.

Bits And Pieces Over charging, cheap products

I just received my second and last order from Bits and Pieces. The first time I ordered they over charged me for items, but they were very easy to deal with and sorry for the mistake so I gave them another try. This time the over charged me again! One of the items I received was a 1000 pieces puzzle center, which I will be returning. The item was made of cardboard and cost over $50! No where in the catalog or website was this item described as being made of cardboard. I am VERY disappointed!

Unfortunately I think that this company makes alot of its sales to retired and elderly buyers who I am sure are less likely to notice an overbilling and are less likely to return an item.

It is a shame, some of their items are so cute.

Bits And Pieces Failure to receive order

I placed an order on December 3rd, 2006 to ensure I would receive my order prior to Christmas. It is December 22nd, and I haven't received my order and it shows no shipping status on the website when I check. I have tried for over a week continually throughout the day to contact this company and the line is always busy. I have sent 6 emails to this company and they haven't responded. They took my money and I didn't receive my order.

I would strongly suggest steering clear of this company. They are not listed with the BBB b/c I tried to file a complaint through them.

I am having the same problem with Bits and Pieces. I ordered on 12-06-07 and no order, no response to emails and no customer service. No matter when you call there is no one to answer the phone. They put out this catalog and seem to have all the right information about the "good" company they have. I do not believe they are legit at all and I am going to try to report them to someone. People like this need to be stopped so others do not go through the same frustration I and many others have gone through.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY OR WHATEVER IT IS!
