[censored] flat iron
Was cornered into buying this piece of crap at the Auburn Mal. Nothing more than a $25.00 flat iron you could buy at CVS. Never once was I told no returns when I went to return it they told me no refunds. Complete bull, contacted both the Attorney Generals office and my Credit Card and unless they receive more complaints from people like us they can't do anything. Log your complaint with the Attorney General and don't fall for their false and deceptive practices.
Not honoring existing warranty
I purchased my flat iron from a kiosk in Auburn Ma on 3/5/13. I've been very happy with it but it recently it stopped working. I was told when I purchased it that it came with a lifetime warranty and that I just needed the receipt & the original packaging & could return it for a free replacement. My paperwork clearly says that I would need to "add a check or money order in for $25.99 to allow fast shipping and handling and posted" . When I called to ensure this is what I needed to do to get a replacement they told me that was an "old" brochure & it would now cost 35.99 for the warranty fee. I told them I had the paperwork that quotes me a different price for shipping & handling & that they should honor what my paperwork says but they still disagree. I feel this is a very poor business practice and most certainly won't be purchasing anything else from them in the future!
Rude Employees
Beyond the Beauty is a Kiosk near the food court of Dufferin Mall in Toronto. They sell over-priced ($200+) hair straighteners and hair extensions(at the same price and higher). They set one employee on either side of the kiosk to constantly harass patrons as they walk by. "Hi can i show you something?" It's really annoy, and when you reply "No i'm not interested" they constantly mutter something offensive towards you under their breath. Many people refuse to walk past the hmv because of this kiosk. I've even been approached by a 5 foot 4 skinny girl with disgustingly frizzy and greasy hair and asked if i was interested in trying a hair straightener...really? I have pin straight hair, use your eyes. It's become such a hassle, i think they should just close shop and go somewhere else. Some people don't like being harassed and name called when they go to a mall, if you want to make customers...how about learning.

These kiosks are all over in every mall in the US and Canada. It's all part of the "Mall Rat" experience . They didn't tie you up - it's easy to just walk by and ignore their high-pressure sales pitch. If nobody buys what they're selling, they will go away in a hurry as rent on those kiosks is unbelievably expensive. They have to sell a lot of product to stay there. You weren't ripped off - I say just ignore them. If enough people follow suite, they'll be gone.
