I have been a commercial tenant at one of Benderson's properties for years. I have complained numerous times about the mold, leaks, and unsafe conditions in the building. Benderson and his henchmen just ignore the complaints and I have been loosing customers because of it. I would have thought a big developer such as Benderson would take better care of his tenants. I guess all he cares about is opening up his multi-million dollar rowing park. My attorney says I have a case and could possibly sue to get out of the lease because of the horrible condition of the property, but he wants $5, 000 up front and has warned me that Benderson will try and put me out of business if I sue him. Next time I rent, I won't be renting from Benderson or anyone related to Benderson. I can't believe Sarasota lets this company get away with this crap, someone needs to stand up to this guy. As a small business owner, I just can't take on someone like Benderson and risk being put out of business. To add insult to injury, I was just notified this week that he is raising my rent again. Who does this guy think he is!

This is just not right! I tripped and fell on a pedestrian wooden bridge in a retail center owned by Benderson Development in Casselberry, Fl. The bridge is old and in need of replacement but instead they just replaced some of the boards which are higher than the old ones and makes for a trip hazard. I was attempting to walk across said bridge from a Wal Mart over to a Subway when the toe of my shoe caught a high board making me fall toward the ground and catching myself with my hand which kept me from completely landing on ground. This caused me to severely twist and injure my back in addition to jamming a finger when I went down. I submitted a demand letter for compensation for Drs visits and treatments. Ended up dealing with their Buffalo division with a claims adjuster (they are self insured) who after a year has suddenly stopped answering my calls after he said he would forward my claim to the "settlement department" and would hear from them in thirty days. It's been almost two months. This whole ordeal has been going on for over a year now. I didn't want to have to involve lawyers but I guess I have no choice now but to lawyer up. All this from a corporation that makes millions. A corporation that can't take care of their units or provide safe walking areas for pedestrians in their complexes. NOT RIGHT!
