Ben Franklin Plumbing Rip Off Scam

BEN FRANKLIN PLUMBING- MR SPARKY ELECTRIC - ONE HOUR HEATING/AC... A national company that is a complete SCAM! Tell ALL your friends & family! Senior Citizens BEWARE! They were oh SO pleasant on the phone! And they did arrive the same day as scheduled. My toilet had a little (LITTLE) leak in the "shut off valve". I expected a screw on the pipe needed to be tightened... According to the service man.. this was a huge emergency (although it had leaked for 6 weeks without any major issue- I just shut it off completely when not "in use" to stop the leak). $ 236 (WITH A $40 COUPON!) for this professional to fix it... It took a $15 part & less than 10 minutes to fix. Ok with service call... How about $60? Nope! Almost $250! The repair man spent the next 90 minutes giving me a "FREE INSPECTION" whereby my house "needed" a new water heater ($3000), all new sinks, faucets, pipes under the sinks... Total.. Are you ready for this? $6000+++ ! Suspecting a scam, I took the estimates to 3 other plumbers... They would have fixed the shut off valve for less than $50 and estimated all other repairs under $3000 WITH WARRANTIES! Ben Frankin Plumbing is related via a national franchise to Mr. Sparky Electric & One Hour Heating/AC. They are endorsed by Tom Martino, the TV news caster, who (is supposed to) stand up for the consumer. With the number of price gouging complaints on this site, I presume Tom Martino is PAID to help sucker us trusting consumer into forking over 4 times the amount for services from these crooks. STAY AWAY FROM BEN FRANKLING PLUMBING, MR. SPARKY ELECTRIC AND ONE HOUR HEATING... Do NOT TRUST TOM MARTINO! WARN YOUR NEIGHBORS & FRIENDS! ESPECIALLY SENIORS!

I believe you, Benjamin Franklin and Mr. Sparky are the same, they just tell people they are not, my friend works for them and he tells me they are getting lots of money scamming everyone since the workers get 16 to 20% commit-ion of everything they sell of get, so they are going to rob you so they can get paid at end of week, MR Sparky owner's name is Rick Moore and his wife name is Michelle Moore, I will not say the daughter name and what school she goes to cause I feel sorry for her...

I recently bought a house in the DFW metro area and started having slow draining toilets after about 1 week. I called the Home Warranty people thinking that it was just some normal clog. A (supposed) plumber came out used my drain snake to see if he could remove the clog. Hey, if it didn't work for me then why would work for him. Some of these guys think a woman cannot do anything so they have to go right behind and do the same thing and it is going to work, right! Then he goes outside to the cleanout and supposedly runs a line past where our sewer connects to the City sewer and didn't find anything so he suggest I call the City and tell them to come out and clear the clog. I call the City sewer services and they come out and said no clog in City sewer system. To make a long story short, after several weeks of this going on, I realize that I am going to have to get "a real plumber" to come out and find out what is going on so I used someone off Craig's list and he ran a camera and found a hydra static sewer test ball blocking the sewer drain and it was our problem. Since I had not had a hydra static test done, I assumed it was when the sewer line was repaired by Benjamin Franklin plumbing prior to us putting a contract on the house so I called them to come out and remove their test ball. They told me that the previous owner had them come out 8 months prior where they located the test ball blocking the sewer line and he refused to pay the price they quoted him. With that said, I knew then that the previous owner had misrepresented on the Disclosure statement the condition of the sewer system and I called the realty company and reported him. Still trying to shorten this story I will say this. The previous owner ended up paying Benjamin Franklin Plumbing to come out dig up the City sewer line and removing the test ball. While doing so, BF found that there was a root ball also causing problems in the sewer drain and they called the City to see what the City wanted done about this. The city told them to fix that problem and cover the hole. The City came to check the work done and found that Benjamin Franklin did not remove the root ball but instead only removed the test ball, covered the hole and went home. Now who would do something like that rather than do the right thing by removing the root ball while everything was open. But they didn't do the right thing, instead expected to be paid again by being called again and charging again for what could have been easily removed while the pipe was exposed and the hole open. That is true laziness and greed to the fullest extent. What I failed to bring out here is that BF didn't want to divulge information on previous work done at first citing privacy act but then when I tried to pin the problem on them, they quickly told me that the customer refused to have work done. Then after hanging up from talking to me, quickly called the previous owner and got his permission to divulge the information they had just given me (covering their rear after the fact). BF seems to be underhanded, conniving, scoundrels who are oh so greedy and would cheat their own grandmothers. I do not trust them and would never pay them money for any work. The best plumber I found was the plumber (master plumber) off of Craig's list that did an excellent job, was totally honest with me and I could tell by his manner that he knew what he was doing, was not afraid of work, he did not over-charge and I will call him again in a heart beat. He was nice, humble and a straight shooter and his name was Carl Ambrose, jr. I will recommend him and I will use him again! I really doubt he will read this or even uses a computer but if he does...Carl, you are one of the good guys! Thank GOD for guys like you.

Have you asked Mr. Martino if he is compensated by anyone for endorsing Benjamin Franklin Plumbing? If you have not, then your assertion is remarkably close to liable. You certainly owe him the courtesy of responding, do you not, prior to posting such an allegation? We have just moved to Lakewood and have decided to use BFP for some work on our new home, based upon Mr. Martino's recommendation. I'll come back and reply with my own experience with the business.

Ben Franklin Plumbing Thieves

I called Ben Franklin Plumbing. They charged 70$ for a service call and the only thing the guy did was tell me I needed a new hot water heater and that it would cost me close to 2500$. He didn't drain the tank or stop the leaking or anything! It is for a traditional, every day 40 gallon water heater in a condo. I had another plumber do it for under 1000$. Great job trying to rip me off but I will NEVER USE BEN FRANKLIN PLUMBING! Please reconsider if you thought about using Ben Franklin plumbing
