My mother and I have a very normal life. We never had to anything like this before. You may contact the business through their address below. I do not have their email address. Thank you.

I am having a very disturbing issue with-

Mr. Wayne Stevens
President & CEO/
Mr. Phillip Chamberlian
Vice-President
Baracalounger Corporation
P.O. Box 6157
1450 Atlantic Ave.
Rocky Mount, NC [protected]
Customer Service Representative: Ms. Annette Scott

They are not abiding by there lifetime warrantee clause for Baracalounger recliners. It appears that Mr. Wayne Stevens and his what appears to be friend Ms. Annette Scott his customer service representative would rather take full advantage than to rectify the problem at hand.

From what I gathered from sources both Mr. Wayne Stevens and his what appears to be friend the customer service representative Ms. Annette Scott would rather go through me contacting you which they stated they would than to rectify the issue. From what I gather, they both are laughing and together are both enjoying what they are trying to accomplish. The power trip to WIN over taking advantage. Mr. Wayne Stevens would rather have bad publicity than to rectify the issue. My mother and I never have had an issue like this or have been treated so poorly from two people who one source I have spoken to mentioned that they both must have ice running in their veins and cold blooded to do something like this and laugh together and enjoy it. My mother and I are very nice people and are very bitter at this point. You would be to if you had gone through what we have with Mr. Wayne Stevens and his what appears to be friend Ms. Annette Scott.

2

Here is the issue at hand-

I purchased two Barcaloungers that were delivered to my house. They cost $809.00 each, reaching a total of $1618.00 plus tax. I treat them with leather polish once per month. We have had pleasure and comfort with them.

They have required no service whatsoever. Now, the one needs very minor repair, and the other one needs a little more repair, covered under their lifetime warrantee section.

Since the Barcaloungers have served us so well, and have required no service, could you please repair them for us. We should have many, many more years of pleasure and comfort with them.

Mr. Stevens and his what appears to be friend will not assist in any way shape or form and appears to communicate to me that I can contact whom I please and do what I want, he and his what appears to be friend Ms. Annette Scott will not do a thing for us.

Mr. Stevens and his what appears to be friend Ms. Scott could not care less and mentioned that I should go ahead and contact them rather than rectify the issue at hand.

I also contacted-

Brian Mc Dermott
Partner
Hancock Park Associates
10323 Santa Monica Boulevard #101
Los Angeles, CA 90025
[protected], ext. 116
[protected] (cell)

He is affiliated with Barcalounger, and claimed he is trying to assist us. However, I found out he was playing games.

I contacted the Federal Trade Commission who said that under their "Lifetime Warrantee" clause they need to either repair the recliners or replace them free of charge. They will not abide or honor the FTC’s information.

It appears that they are doing this to us because we are a widow and an orphan and feel they can take advantage of the issue. This is true because some retailers said that they abide by this with other customers.

3

NO COMPANY SHOULD PUT A CUSTOMER THROUGH ALL OF THIS AGGRAVATION. Baracalounger is stating that the issue is closed and that we have come to an agreement. This is FALSE. We have in no sense of the word come to any agreement and the case is in no way closed.

The Barcalounger warranty is below. Mine is under "Mechanism and Frame". My repair is for the black metal parts.

I really appreciate your assistance.

Sincerely,
Greg.

WARRANTY INFORMATION:

The BarcaLounger Corporation makes the following Limited Warranty to the original consumer under normal residential use. Submitted claims must be accompanied with proof of purchase. There is no warranty for commercial, rental, business or institutional use. The warranty also does not include conditions resulting from inadequate maintenance, abuse, cleaning care or exposure to chemicals.

Mechanism and Frame

The black metal parts of the reclining mechanism and the wooden frame parts will be free of any defect in workmanship and material as long as the original consumer owns the furniture. Replacement of these parts will be made at no cost as long as supplier's parts are available.

Fabric / Leather

BarcaLounger warrants all our upholstery fabrics and leathers against defective materials and workmanship for ONE (1) year from the date of purchase. This warranty covers seam failure, fabric separation, and nap loss. Excluded from warranty are cover fading, pilling, stretching, and dye lots.

Natural markings such as scars, brands, wrinkles, grain variation, etc., will be considered normal characteristics and not construed as defects. Since no two cows are identical, no two hides will be exactly the same, so natural markings and color variations can occur.

Where there is evidence of excessive soiling, abuse, improper cleaning, or where some form of chemical has been applied, the warranty will not apply.

Motorized Parts

All motors, vibrators, and electrical components will be free of any defect in workmanship and material for TWO (2) years from date of purchase.

All Other Parts

All other parts of the chair will be free of any defect in workmanship and material for ONE (1) year from the date of purchase.

Procedure for Claim

Any defect covered by this warranty that is reported to the BarcaLounger Dealer during the first year from the date of purchase will be repaired at the expense of BarcaLounger Corporation, except for the cost of packing and shipping to and from the factory or designated repair station. After one year from the date of purchase, the consumer will be responsible for all repair labor and shipping costs of parts. If return to the factory or designated repair station is necessary, all packing and shipping costs will be responsibility of the consumer.

CAUTION

Do not allow children to play on this mechanized furniture or operate the mechanism. The leg rest folds down on closing, so injury to a child could result. Always leave in an upright and closed position, and keep hands and feet clear of mechanism. Only the occupant should operate it.

I would like to bring this to your attention concerning-

Linda Vitale
Better Business Bureau

I sent in a complaint against a business and it appears that Linda Vitale handled the issue unjustly.

It was brought to my attention that Linda Vitale personally knew on a first name basis and emailed a lady named Barbara Batt who I never heard of at Barcalounger. The email appeared to mention the effect that because Linda Vitale knew her on a first name basis, Linda Vitale just wrote that Baracalounger is in good faith and that Barcalounger did all the right things and that I an orphan and my mother a widow were in the wrong and the case is closed.

Barcalounger also sent a copy of this to numerous sources mentioning that they may contact Linda Vitale personally to tell them that Barcalounger is in the right and that an orphan and my mother a widow are in the wrong.

I knew there was something fishy about this BBB office when they did not provide my part but instead just wrote "customer satisfied" and just closed the case.

My mother and I have a very normal life. We never had to anything like this before. After my sister and father were killed by a drunk driver, life took on a whole new meaning.

Sincerely,
Dr. Gregory E. Zotos, Ph.D.

I am looking for replacement recliner mechanism parts for our Barcalounger Recliners.

We have two Leather Longhorn Recliners purchased in 2008. Both chairs have bad (broken) metal recliner hardware (black metal).

I have been unable to find the replacement hardware to repair these. These are beautiful and comfortable chairs that are broken and thus useless.

The dealer who sold them to us said that right after we bought them in 2008, Barcalounger went bankrupt and/or closed the factory, sold the name and the new owners moved production to China. They also said that replacement parts were not available because when they moved and the new company was formed, it was all new parts/design.

I have searched for replacement hardware to no avail.

The tag on the chair says the Hardware No. is 2110A15 . I was searching the internet on the chance I could find a replacement mechanism when I saw this site.

If any possibility be knows of a compatible metal reclining mechanism I would be extremely grateful!

I have a love seat with broken right leg lift handle. Written them three times at their web site email and have never gotten a response. Would love to be part of some kind of action to get them to be responsible for their products.

I have been trying for months to find out where Barcalounger sold a particular chair. Their website does NOT have an email address or PHONE NUMBER. On this same website there is a Dealers locator choice but when you click on this it says " sorry this page under construction" Been that way for at least 5 months. Looked up their number, called them and no one could help me. It is amazing this company is still in business. After reading these complaints I'm glad that I couldn't find their chair. $75.00 shipping/handling for a warranted reclining mechanism. WOW, poor customer service and sounds like they don't like standing behind their warranty.

I have a leather Barca Lounger and the front piece of the wooden frame broke on the right edge . It appears to be Oak hardwood, that is good. What is bad is the piece of wood has a knot in the wood where one of the two bolt holes are located - hence that was a "weak" spot and the board cracked at that spot. I have it apart . Odd white material backing on the leather or it isn't leather ? Not sure.
We paid extra for a warranty. I was hoping to find where I could purchase this part of the frame. I will likely have to trace out the outline and cut a new board and drill it. Pull off the odd spring end holders and fasten them onto the new piece of wood.
Unfortunately the factory did not see or care to avoid using this board. Furniture that has knots is fine just not where holes for hardware have to be drilled.
Overall very happy with the chair. My wife wants to toss it to the curb. I want to repair it and keep it. The stitching on the right arm has been unraveling. I will either find someone with talent or attempt to stitch it myself. I have thread that would cut into your hands before breaking, too bad the chair was not sewn with a higher quality thread.

Ive had problems of a different kind with this company. I ordered a recliner from them in December, online. Many of the choices stated clearly that they were out of stock however the one i chose said it was in stock and available in the color I wanted. It was supposed to ship in 7-10 days but after a week i got an email saying it wasnt available until mid April and that they would work with me to find another choice. Since i need this for medical reasons, I have congestive heart failure and my Dr. wants me sleeping in an upright position, I couldnt wait until April. So i chose a lighter color. I was told they would rush it out to me and it was being shipped on monday, that was on a friday. It wasnt shipped so I called and was told that someone gave me bad info and it wasnt being shipped until the next monday, MLK JR. Day this is all after recieving an email from them 6 days prior stating that my item had been shipped, which was a lie. When I called them again yesterday to find out why it wasnt shipped again, I was told " the shipping carrier must have forgotten to scan it when they picked it up" I called the shipper and they had no order for it to be picked up and that it sounded to them that they were trying to pass the buck since all items are scanned before going on the truck and that the tracking # I was given in the email that said it was shipped, wasnt a tracking # at all. So I called Barcalounger AGAIN, only to be told that they wouldnt know anything for at least 24 hrs. I asked what the problem was with getting this shipped and why a month after ordering it, I still didnt have it even though it says it was to be shipped in 7-10 days and then later told it had been already been shipped. I decided to cancel my order and buy a recliner locally. The customer care dept said they were processing the cancellation. Only today i find out they pulled the nearly $700 out of my account this morning even though the order was cancelled. I am very ill and waiting on an organ transplant and do not have the energy to fight with these people but I want everyone to be aware that this company's "good reputation" is built on lies. I have been told so many lies by these people which is pretty stupid nowadays when everything can be verified with the shipper. They treat their customers like we are fools, I guess we are for doing biz with them. Never again!

I live in Iowa, across the river from Omaha and purchased ours at Nebraska Furniture Mart approx. 5 yrs ago. Wish I would have known about their [Barcalounger] poor business practices b4 spending the $$$ on our recliner, this will be the 2nd replacement mechanism! I too… feel that paying $75 for shipping a "FREE" part is totally outrageous! Even our furniture repair guy said "It seems as though you're paying for not only the shipping...but the part as well...could someone please explain to me why this part costs so much to ship...and how this is considered fair? I have no trouble paying for the labor to fix it, but excuuuussseeee me? $75 for shipping? My kids have ordered car parts off of EBay and had them shipped for less than this! I'm mad as a hornet's net over this one... and perhaps if anyone that ever bought one of their precious chair's and has had to order a new mechanism [under warrantee] filed a complaint w/ Better Business Bureau/BBB maybe they'd stop being so shady, or perhaps a class action lawsuit might get their attention?

Ship the chairs to the Barcalounger Factory as stated in the Warranty Claim section you have posted. If I was Barca Lounger I would seek Liability case against you for false claims. It is clearly stated that the customer is liable for the shipping cost to and from the service area along with the labor cost after the first year. I guess your PhD did not make you read everything in a contract. Stop your whining

$75 for shipping and handling? That is very interesting. I contacted a local furniture repair person to replace the mechanism in my Barcalounger (I've had it for 9 yrs.) He told me, "No problem." The mechanism will cost me $80 and $50 for labor. Sounds like Barcalounger doesn't actually give you the mechanism for free. The fellow who called you a whiner is a pinhead.

They may have a lifetime parts warranty but then they charge you very high fees for "shipping & handling" I have two recliners purchased several years ago, both have the reclining mechanism broken so they charged me $75 for each mechanism S & H. What a crock of crap, scamming customers. This was after 4 weeks of constant telephone calls to their company seeking help in their warranty coverage. They have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with, avoid doing business with this company if you can, their business ethics are very poor.
